The news that former President Trump has been charged by a grand jury in the state of New York was delivered by Stephen Colbert, host of a late-night talk show, on Thursday evening.
Colbert broke the news on his Late Show and got rousing applause from his viewers.
Overwhelming Joy
The host received the news shortly before going on air. He celebrated in typical Colbert fashion by being given a plastic baseball cap stuffed with an ice cream sundae, from which he sprayed whipped cream into his face.

Colbert, who usually avoids mentioning Trump’s name on his show, did not hold back in his delight at the news, stating this was excellent news for everybody, even Trump. The J6 prison choir is welcoming him with open arms.
The host brought up the January 6 uprising and Trump’s payment of $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels as hush money after their romance became public knowledge in 2016.
Though, the grand jury has not yet revealed what charges they want to bring against Trump.
Trying To Stay Relevant
Once the cheering went down, Colbert admitted Trump was correct about one thing. Now, everyone may wish each other a Merry Christmas once more.

The Huffington Post pointed out that despite often making fun of Trump on his program, this was the first time Colbert had ever shown joy at Trump’s indictment.
Colbert reveled in the audience’s enthusiastic response. He told the audience that he assumed it would never come.
The late night talk show host also revealed that he used to ask himself whether or not it would truly matter if Trump were ever to be indicted. Later, Colbert added that he had no idea it would feel this nice, but he also has no idea what the future holds for the indicted former president.
