At Boston Plaza in Massachusetts, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took center stage and declared his intention to run for president as a Democrat. A throng of supporters gathered, brandishing signs with slogans like “I’m a Kennedy Democrat” and “Kennedy24,” lending a charged ambiance to the event.

RFK Jr. mentioned his uncle, President John F. Kennedy, and his disdain for the CIA, stating, “Upon entering office, just two months later, my uncle found himself at odds with his intelligence machinery and military.”

“Amid the Bay of Pigs crisis, he discovered they were deceiving him. He recognized intelligence agencies’ role had evolved into supplying the military-industrial complex with a ceaseless flow of war.”

According to The New York Post, environmental attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his candidacy for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination on Wednesday.

The 69-year-old nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy and son of the assassinated 1968 presidential contender Robert Kennedy made his announcement at Boston’s Park Plaza Hotel.

He emphasized his goal of dismantling the “insidious amalgamation of state and corporate authority” in his campaign and potential presidency.

Controversial Stances on 2020 Election, Capitol Attack

However, Kennedy has been known to associate with far-right figures. He has taken controversial stances on issues like the 2020 presidential election and the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

His challenge to President Biden seems unlikely to succeed; his anti-vaccine stance conflicts with the majority of Democratic voters. Marianne Williamson, a self-help author who ran in 2020, also announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination.

“The Framers knew all about pandemics… They knew all about them but they didn’t put that in the Constitution because the Constitution was built for the hard times, it wasn’t built for the easy times.”

As of now, it is unclear if other Democratic candidates who may pose a greater challenge to Biden will enter the 2024 race. While President Biden has not formally announced his bid for re-election, both he and the White House have given indications that he is likely to run.

The political landscape is always evolving; it is possible that new contenders may emerge in the coming months leading to the Democratic primaries.
