Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton returned to her alma mater, Wellesley College, on Saturday.  But the reception was less than polite.

Clinton returned to campus to participate in a women-led democracy summit and to acknowledge the honor of a college building named after her, the Hillary Rodham Clinton Center for Citizenship, Leadership, and Democracy.

Wellesley College alum Hillary Rodham Clinton (’69) is in town this weekend to launch the Hillary Rodham Clinton Center for Citizenship, Leadership, and Democracy with a one-day summit on Saturday, April 6 called Renewing Democracy: Women Leading the Way.

The exclusive event about democracy…. isn’t open to the public, and registration for the live stream has passed. The College kept promotion limited, issuing a press release on the day of the event itself.

The summit is described by organizers as exploring “the challenges facing democracy in the U.S. and abroad and highlight the many ways leaders are working toward democratic renewal. ” It will feature mostly women speakers, including Nobel Peace Prize recipients Leymah Gbowee (Liberian peace activist) and Maria Ressa (a Filipino and American journalist who co-founded the online news site Rappler).

Pro-Palestine protesters, however, were lined up to harass Clinton and other attendees.

Students circulated pamphlets on campus saying Clinton is Wellesley’s “most beloved war criminal” and arguing that she has “blood on her hands.”

The New York Times reports, “The overall reception on Saturday was decidedly more mixed. Signs hoisted at the protests appeared to respond to Mrs. Clinton’s statements in recent months opposing a cease-fire agreement in the Israel-Hamas war. “Hillary for Women Unless They’re Palestinian,” read one. “Hillary, Hillary, you’re a liar; we demand a cease-fire,” protesters chanted as summit attendees filed into the Diana Chapman Walsh Alumnae Hall. Most of those demonstrating wore medical masks to partially obscure their faces; several were draped in the black-and-white kaffiyehs that have become symbolic of the pro-Palestinian movement.”

Protestors also interrupted Clinton during the panel, with one protester shouting that Mrs. Clinton is indifferent to violence against Palestinians.

Clinton replied, “We’re having a discussion. I’m perfectly happy to meet you after this event and talk with you,” before the young woman was escorted out of the hall.

A massive cargo ship lost power in New York City waters just two weeks after the Dali ship lost power and crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland.

The United States Coast Guard reported that it received a report that the 89,000-ton Qingdao containership lost power around 8:30 pm on Saturday while navigating the waters between Bayonne, New Jersey, and Staten Island, New York.

A New York tugboat captain told John Konrad, the CEO of maritime-centered news site gCaptain, that the “Container ship APL QINGDAO lost power while transiting New York harbor. They had three escort tugs, but three more were needed to bring her under control.”

“They regained power & were brought to anchor near the Verrazano bridge.” added the tugboat captain.

Per The New York Post:

A massive container ship lost power in the waters around New York City and was brought to a rest near the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge Saturday night — less than two weeks after failure on another massive cargo vessel caused it to smash into Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge.

The US Coast Guard confirmed that its Vessel Traffic Service received a report that the 89,000-ton M/V Qingdao lost propulsion about 8:30 p.m. as it traversed Kill Van Kull waterway — the shipping lane between Staten Island and Bayonne, New Jersey.

An image shared on X by John Konrad, CEO of maritime-focused news outlet gCaptain, shows the 1,100-foot Qingdao floating uncomfortably close to the span that connects Brooklyn and Staten Island.

In response to the power failure, three tug boats were dispatched to bring the Qingdao under control.

The ship is owned by the French shipping company CMA CGM Group and is registered in Malta.

More than three months after the murder of a high-profile art dealer who flew in the same partying circles as former first lady Michelle Obama, the art dealer’s former husband is facing extradition to Brazil in connection with the crime.

Daniel Garcia Carrera, 53, has been accused in a murder-for-hire scheme that led to the Jan. 15 death of Brent Sikkema, 75, who was found stabbed to death in his Rio de Janeiro home, according to the New York Post.

The murder came just before Sikkema was planning to return to the U.S.

To extradite Garcia Carrera, Brazil must make a formal request to U.S. authorities. A hearing on the extradition request will be held on June 3.

Garcia Carrera was arrested by FBI on March 20 in New York City, according to the New York Post.

At the time, he was labeled a suspect in Sikkema’s death.

The FBI also alleged that Garcia Carrera was planning to leave the country with Lucas Sikkema, 13, who Garcia Carrera and Sikkema were raising as their son.

Brent Sikkema and Garcia Carrera had been a couple for 15 years but were going through a messy custody battle over the teenager at the time of Sikkema’s murder.

Authorities claimed that Garcia Carrera was planning to flee to his native Cuba.

Garcia Carrera was released on a $1 million bond but was also required to wear an ankle monitor, court documents say.

A report in The New York Times said $40,000 was stolen from Sikkema’s Brazilian home at the time of his murder.

Alejandro Triana Prevez was later arrested after surveillance footage showed him at the home near the time of Sikkema’s death.

Gregorio Andrade, an attorney for Prevez, said Prevez has accused Garcia Carrera of offering him $200,000 to perform the killing.

“He manipulated my client,” Andrade said.

Fabiana Marques, an attorney for Garcia Carrera, said her client is innocent.

“It’s important to note that Daniel was not given an opportunity to be heard by police, despite proactively offering himself for questioning via email,” she said.

Joe Biden will announce a sweeping student loan forgiveness plan on Monday during his visit to Madison, Wisconsin, the Wall Street Journal reported.

This is Biden’s latest vote-buying gimmick after the US Supreme Court and a federal appeals court blocked his other student loan relief programs.

The details of Biden’s latest student loan bailout plan are unclear, but the Wall Street Journal reported it could reduce loan balances for millions of borrowers.

The Biden administration will soon roll out a sweeping new student loan forgiveness proposal that could impact millions of Americans.

Despite its smaller scope than President Joe Biden’s first education debt relief plan that the Supreme Court ultimately blocked, this new aid package could still forgive the debt for as many as 10 million Americans, according to one rough estimate by higher education expert Mark Kantrowitz.

Biden is planning to provide details of his new debt forgiveness plan during a speech Monday in Madison, Wisconsin, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

The president likely wants to start forgiving debt for many student borrowers ahead of the election in November.

Biden has used a series of workarounds to circumvent the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down his student loan bailout program.

Last year the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against Joe Biden’s student loan relief program so the Department of Education rolled out a workaround forbearance program to cancel $39 billion in student loans by counting non-payments as payments for a period of time.

Only it isn’t your typical forbearance program. Borrowers won’t have to pay back ‘missed’ payments or make up the difference of ‘reduced’ payments. No interest will accrue on any of the missed payments.

In January Biden unilaterally canceled another $5 billion in student loan debt for 74,000 borrowers in his latest vote-buying gimmick.

“The latest round of student debt cancelation brings the total amount canceled under Biden to $136.6 billion for more than 3.7 million Americans, according to the Department of Education. It comes after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked Biden’s initial student loan handout last year, which would have cost more than $400 billion.” Fox Business reported.

Joe Biden also announced he would cancel student loans for borrowers who took out less than $12,000 and have been in repayment for 10 years.

Biden recently bragged about forcing hardworking middle-class Americans to pay for other people’s student loans.

Biden falsely claimed his debt cancellation is free during a campaign in Vegas earlier this year.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday blocked Biden’s plan to cancel loans for borrowers who claim they were victims of ‘misleading information’ by colleges.

A three-judge panel – one Reagan appointee and two Trump appointees – said Biden’s program was ‘almost certainly unlawful.’

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Michael Whatley has pledged to ensure that the 2024 presidential election is not tainted by the widespread voter fraud that occurred back in 2020.

In an interview with radio talk show host John Catsimatidis on WABC 770 AM’s “Cats Roundtable,” Whatley promised to have “thousands” of attorneys ready to respond when Democrats try their usual shenanigans.

“We want to make sure that every state has good rules of the road, right,” Whatley said. “So we’re working with the legislatures, we’re working with the boards of elections, the secretaries of states to make sure that the laws, the rules, the regulations that cover elections are where we need them to be.”

Whatley, who recently took over from the ousted Ronna Romney McDaniel, added that the RNC will make sure their lawyers and observers are physically “in the room”

“You have to be in the room,” Whatley said. “You got to have observers and attorneys in the room when the votes are being cast and when the votes are being counted. So we’re in the process of recruiting tens of thousands of volunteers, thousands of attorneys all across the country so that when we get into the election season, we’re going to be in the room.”

However, Whatley has previously argued in favor of Republicans learning to embrace early voting, despite the obvious risks associated with it.

“Look, in every state there are various different rules, but writ large people can vote by mail, they can vote early in person or they can vote on Election Day,” Whatley said in an interview with Fox News last month. “We want to make sure that people have a plan on how they are going to go out and vote.”

“Over 50 percent of American voters will vote before Election Day,” he continued. “We need to make sure that we are communicating with them, that we are talking to them before they go vote.”

Some years ago, my family and I visited Ellis Island. From 1892 to 1954, it served as the nation’s busiest immigrant inspection station, processing over 12 million immigrants seeking entry into the United States.

Part of the tour included a display of some frightening-looking tools that were used for the careful health check immigrants were subjected to before being allowed into the country.

“Ellis Island doctors were particularly watching for signs of contagious diseases like trachoma, tuberculosis, diphtheria, and other states of health such as poor physique, pregnancy and mental disability. Any immigrant suspected of being in questionable health was chalk-marked with a letter of the alphabet (“B” for back problems, “F” for face, “H” for heart) and taken out of line and moved to a physical or mental examination room,” according to the National Park Service.

In a History Channel documentary, for instance, an immigrant who arrived in 1928. identified as Lillian Galetta, said that her family was lucky that they were healthy because “there were many that were sent back.”

Ellis Island represented the American dream to many immigrants, but it was not without restrictions. The goal was to admit healthy, able-bodied individuals who could support themselves and their families without becoming a drain on public resources. This reflected the prevailing attitude of the time, which favored immigrants who could contribute to the nation’s economic growth and development.

A lot has changed since then.

According to a Just The News report published Friday, Dr. Harvey Risch, senior research scientist and professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, said the United States is not doing enough to monitor the health status and health histories of immigrants crossing the southern border.

Risch’s comments come amid a surge in border crossings, with almost 190,000 migrants crossing the southern border in February alone, according to Customs and Border Protection.

While acknowledging that many viruses and diseases, such as COVID-19, are often taken in stride by society, Risch highlighted the potential risks posed by certain health issues, including tuberculosis and antibiotic-resistant strains of the disease.

“We’ve certainly had epidemics of – low level epidemics – of tuberculosis and antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis at times in various inner-city places in the country,” he said, adding that these outbreaks come and go, but are generally managed by the health-care system.

People crossing the Mexico US border are not checked for health. Even back in the day on Ellis Island there were health checks.

Risch is not the first to raise this warning.

In a commentary piece published by USA Today in August, Dr. Marc Siegel, a professor of medicine at New York University’s Langone Health, wrote, “Migrants could be bringing infectious diseases across our southern border. When they are bussed to New York and elsewhere, these diseases go with them.”

According to Siegel, Pinal County, Arizona, Sheriff Mark Lamb told him that, “Border Patrol and local agencies have seen all types of diseases like tuberculosis, scabies, COVID, hepatitis A and B, gonorrhea, syphilis, mumps, chicken pox, dengue fever, etc.”

Siegel also wrote that an internist named Dr. James Hodges, who works at the Texas border, told him that open border policies were leading to more drug-resistant forms of tuberculosis in the United States.

For decades, Americans have been shielded from many major diseases that have ravaged other countries, thanks to strong public health measures.

However, with little to no exposure to these diseases, our immune systems have been spared exposure to some infections found abroad.

Now, with not so much as a temperature check for most immigrants entering the southern border, we are, in effect, leaving our collective immune system’s core vulnerability exposed and broadcasting an open call for the next global pathogen.

Those are outrageous claims considering Joe Biden was in New York in late March at a fundraiser with two former presidents, Obama and Clinton, along with numerous celebrities.

Each ticket cost $500,000 to attend, with an,000 donation for a photo of Biden, Obama, additional $100 and Clinton.

While Biden was fundraising, President Trump was also in New York, but for a different reason. He attended the wake of slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller.

Spokesman Michael Tyler also claimed that Joe Biden has “wisdom” and “judgment” on foreign policy even though international chaos suggests otherwise.

“He has the wisdom, the judgment, and the temperament to take on difficult, complex situations, like the one we are facing in the Middle East,” Tyler said.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” this weekend.

He made outrageous claims about walking safely in Washington, DC, at the Capitol.

“I can safely walk my dog to the Capitol today in a way that you couldn’t do when we all got here,” Buttigieg said to Jen Psaki.

The Transportation Secretary failed to mention that, as a high-ranking government official, he has access to security detail.

Violent crime has spiraled out of control in the Nation’s capital.

Secretary Buttigieg continued as he made excuses for Biden’s low approval.

“While there is a very well-funded noise machine trying to poke holes in those achievements, trying to talk down the economy and all the things America has done,” Buttigieg said.

“The American economy under his leadership have added so many jobs, including importantly in areas like manufacturing,” Buttigieg continued.

The reality is that the economy is not doing well. Gas prices have significantly risen, and inflation is destroying people’s savings. Despite his claim on manufacturing jobs, the month of March was unchanged.

That is the real Biden economy.

The Henry Jackson Society, a counter-extremism think-tank, and J.L. Partners conducted the largest survey of British Muslims since the October 7 Hamas terror attacks on Israeli civilians.

The survey revealed that only one in four British Muslims believe that Hamas committed rape and murder in October, and just under half of those surveyed, 46 percent, said they sympathize with Hamas.

Over half of those surveyed,  52 percent, want to make it illegal to show a picture of the Prophet Mohammed, with over a third supporting the implementation of Shariah law in the UK.

The Daily Mail reports:

Fiyaz Mughal, founder of Muslims Against Antisemitism and the interfaith group Faith Matters, told the Sunday Telegraph that the findings are “shocking but also not shocking.”

He said: “The sense that Hamas did not conduct massacres and rapes in Israel is atrocious because it shows a closed-off mentality of anything emanating from Israel.”

The survey, carried out by polling company J L Partners, also found that 46 per cent of British Muslims say Jews have too much power over UK government policy (compared to 16 per cent of the general public) while 41 per cent said Jews have too much power in the media and 39 per cent said Jews have too much power in the UK’s financial system.

Mughal said the findings confirm that “a lot of work needs to be done to inform, challenge, and address old antisemitic tropes,” adding that a failure on the part of the government to invest in better guidance for teachers and education establishments risks “a social cohesion problem.”

In a disturbing trend of radicalization among youth, younger and well-educated Muslims appeared the most likely to think Hamas did not commit atrocities that day.

Only a few weeks after October 7, tens of thousands of protesters marched in London against Israel.
