Greta Thunberg Leads the Way

Greta Thunberg Leads the Way

How I unexpectedly came to find common cause with the progressive firebrand.

Humanitarian Flotilla Departs Barcelona For Gaza As Activists Mobilize Against Israel's Aid Blockade

Something odd and totally unexpected happened to me this month: I slowly but assuredly came to respect and, dare I say, support the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. Aboard a floating vessel headed for one of the bleakest outposts the world over, Thunberg has animated the plight of the Palestinian people in a way that resonates with anyone, irrespective of political persuasion, who supports peace. And that includes me.

Though I still struggle to embrace her position (and tenor) on man-made climate change, Thunberg’s relentless and courageous campaign to provide aid to the nearly 2 million Palestinian people under constant threat and barrage by the government of Israel can no longer go unnamed. It is a hero’s journey and I support it. Speaking from one of the more than 50 ships crossing the Mediterranean this week, Thunberg was defiant.

“I’m not scared of Israel,” Thunberg exclaimed. “I’m scared of a world that has seemingly lost all sense of humanity and what we’re doing here is trying to show that there is still some humanity left, that there are still people willing to step up when all other means fail. But this is a last resort, this mission should not have to exist.”

This is Thunberg’s second attempt to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip after her first such voyage, aboard the British-flagged yacht Madleen, was halted by the Israeli navy in international waters this June. Thunberg and a crew of activists were detained and later deported, a scenario that Thunberg compared to “being kidnapped.” Israel’s foreign ministry accused Thunberg and the crew of staging a media event. They were right. Both voyages, with Thunberg aboard, can be considered nothing short of a media stunt, and that’s exactly why it’s working.

Without Thunberg’s presence, the Global Sumud Flotilla would struggle in the competition for global media coverage. Between what is becoming daily terrorism in the United States, the never-ending war in Ukraine, and the unspeakable purge of Christians in Nigeria, there are countless stories the world over that demand the eyeballs and attention of a news-hungry public. Thunberg’s attachment to what is now the largest maritime challenge to Israel’s blockade of Gaza makes for a specific cinema that keeps the cameras locked in, not only on Thunberg’s Mercy Fleet, but more importantly, its destination, the besieged port of Gaza.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, nearly 70,000 people have died in the Gaza Strip since the government of Israel began its multi-year campaign in the days after Hamas brutally murdered more than 1,300 innocent Israelis on October 7, 2023. Two wrongs do not make a right. The situation is now so dire in Gaza that doctors who have been on the ground in the region describe horrors beyond comprehension. Melted children. Headless bodies. Destruction in the most inhumane and disturbing ways one can possibly imagine. And that’s before the reports of starvation.

“We have a million children who are being starved to death,” said Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, an Australian emergency physician who has worked in Gaza during the siege. “A quarter of the population are at stage 5 famine which means that four out of every 10,000 children die a day at stage 5 famine. Two out of every 10,000 adults. When you reach stage 5 famine, food isn’t enough because if you give people food at that stage they could get things like refeeding syndrome and that could cause arrhythmias and heart attacks and that could kill them.”

Thunberg and the more than 500 crew members headed toward Gaza are not naive about what little role they can play in providing the sort of humanitarian aid needed to turn back two years of unrelenting besiegement by the Israeli government. For the real work to be done, world governments must apply whatever legal pressure possible to end arms transfers and deliver aid into the Strip.

“There are over two million people living trapped under a siege who are being systematically starved by Israel,” Thunberg said Monday. “We’re doing our bare minimum and stepping up where our governments are not fulfilling their legal obligations to act to stop a genocide.” With the fleet less than 400 miles from the shores of Gaza, Thunberg asked for world governments to ensure safe passage of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a request that the Turkish government granted when it sent navy frigates to tail the activists.

The newfound support for the humanitarian mission comes a week after dozens of world leaders walked out on the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s appearance at the United Nation General Assembly in New York City. As Bibi spoke, the auditorium emptied. Such was the impact of Muslim leaders who earlier in the week highlighted the devastation wrought by Israel. Even President Donald Trump, long one of Netanyahu’s closest allies, seemed ready for realignment when he spoke of the situation before jetting off to Long Island for last weekend’s Ryder Cup golf tournament.

“I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank,” Trump said from the Oval Office hours after speaking with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, one of Israel’s loudest critics. “I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen. I’m not going to allow it. I’m not allowing Israel to annex the West Bank. There’s been enough, it’s time to stop now, OK?” Trump later teased a deal that would both bring the hostages home safely and bring an end to the siege of Gaza.

Though critics rolled their eyes at Trump’s braggadocio, on Monday, with Netanyahu by his side, Trump announced a comprehensive plan to end the war in Gaza. Trump’s 20-point plan, which is dependent on the compliance of Hamas, calls for the redevelopment of Gaza and for the territory to become a deradicalized, terror-free zone. The ceasefire deal will require Hamas to end hostilities and return the hostages within 72 hours of an agreement being reached. Whether the two warring parties can find common cause and what role exactly the United States will play in mediating peace on the ground in Gaza remains to be seen, but the development is nonetheless encouraging.

It would never have happened without the millions of activists, in America and abroad, who have lifted up their voices in unison to call for an end to the slaughter and starvation of the Palestinian people. Thunberg’s own particular brand of defiance has in no small way contributed to people from around the globe considering, if only for a moment, the pain and suffering of the Palestinian people. I know for me, as someone who once mocked the Swedish activist for her aggressive and unapologetic tone, Thunberg’s unrelenting push for peace in Gaza has made me reconsider her as an activist. She has made me painfully aware of just how little words mean, frankly, and how inept the pen can be when the world is on fire. She has inspired in me a new commitment to my own communities, where my neighbors suffer from fentanyl abuse and missed paychecks. For that, I am thankful. Greta has shown the way. Now if only I have the courage to walk through the door.

It’s Time for the U.S. to Recognize Palestine

It’s Time for the U.S. to Recognize Palestine

Washington should choose pragmatic diplomacy over ideological posturing.

The growing international momentum toward recognizing Palestine as an independent state represents a long-overdue acknowledgment of geopolitical realities that Washington has stubbornly refused to accept. As more nations move beyond the tired mantras of “peace process” diplomacy, it’s time for U.S. policymakers to abandon their counterproductive approach and embrace pragmatic statecraft.

For decades, American foreign policy in the Middle East has been hostage to domestic political considerations rather than strategic interests. The reflexive opposition to Palestinian statehood recognition serves neither American nor Israeli long-term interests, and certainly does nothing to advance regional stability.

The endless focus on “process” over outcomes has become a substitute for serious diplomacy. While Washington continues to insist that Palestinian statehood can only emerge through direct negotiations with Israel, the rest of the world has moved beyond this increasingly hollow formulation. The reality is that the current Israeli government has shown little interest in meaningful negotiations toward a two-state solution, making the American position appear both naive and enabling of the status quo.

Recognition of Palestinian statehood by the international community doesn’t preclude negotiations—it actually creates more balanced conditions for them. When one party enjoys overwhelming military and economic advantages while the other lacks basic recognition of its legitimate national aspirations, meaningful diplomacy becomes impossible.

America’s reflexive opposition to Palestinian recognition has imposed real costs. As European allies, Arab partners, and emerging powers move toward recognition, Washington finds itself increasingly isolated in defending an untenable position.

America’s claim to be an honest broker in Middle East conflicts becomes laughable when it consistently opposes legitimate Palestinian aspirations while enabling Israeli settlement expansion.

The result is the U.S. ceding the moral high ground on Palestinian rights and creating opportunities for rivals like China and Russia to position themselves as champions of international law and justice.

A genuinely realist approach would recognize several uncomfortable truths.

First, the current trajectory leads nowhere productive. Israeli settlement expansion continues to make a viable Palestinian state less feasible, while Palestinian resentment deepens. This serves no one’s long-term interests, including Israel’s.

Second, Palestinian statehood recognition by the international community is inevitable. The question is whether America will be part of shaping this transition or find itself scrambling to catch up to events it refused to anticipate.

Third, genuine Israeli security requires Palestinian dignity and self-determination. Military occupation and settlement expansion may provide short-term tactical advantages, but they undermine long-term strategic security by perpetuating grievances and radicalizing new generations.

American policy has become trapped by an expansive interpretation of the U.S.–Israel relationship that conflates Israeli government preferences with American interests. A truly pro-Israel policy would sometimes involve disagreeing with Israeli government positions when they undermine Israel’s long-term security and international standing.

The notion that questioning specific Israeli policies constitutes abandonment of a democratic ally reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of alliance relationships. Real allies sometimes disagree precisely because they care about each other’s long-term welfare.

Rather than continue reflexive opposition to Palestinian statehood recognition, Washington should acknowledge reality and accept that Palestinian national aspirations are legitimate and that meaningful self-determination requires statehood.

The U.S. should engage with international partners to establish parameters for Palestinian statehood that address legitimate Israeli security concerns while ensuring Palestinian viability.

It needs to help shape the recognition process rather than find itself responding to initiatives led by others.

The bottom line is that the U.S. needs to abandon the process fetishism that has characterized decades of failed diplomacy and focus on achieving sustainable arrangements that serve both peoples’ interests.

The recognition of Palestinian statehood represents an opportunity for American diplomacy to realign with both moral principles and strategic interests. Continued opposition serves no constructive purpose and increasingly isolates the United States from global opinion and emerging realities.

Genuine leadership requires the courage to acknowledge when existing approaches have failed and the wisdom to adapt to changing circumstances. On Palestinian recognition, that moment has arrived. The question is whether American policymakers will seize this opportunity for constructive engagement or continue down a path that serves neither American interests nor regional stability.

Maxine Waters Gets TESTY When Asked if Democrats Are Shutting Down Government Over Healthcare for Illegals (VIDEO)

Maxine Waters has meltdown over question – Screencap of Twitter/X video.

A reporter from RealLindelTV caught up with Rep. Maxine Waters on the steps of the Capitol and asked her if Democrats are shutting down the government because they want to give healthcare to illegal immigrants. Things started out ok, but went downhill quickly.

When Waters figured out the gist of the question she was being asked, she got a little testy. She tried to say that Democrats are trying to give healthcare to all people in order to prevent deaths.

She also accused the reporter of twisting the issue in her question and of trying to be divisive.

Townhall reports:

With the prospect of a shutdown looming, Democrats are digging their heels in and demanding that American taxpayers foot the bill for healthcare for illegal immigrants.

You don’t have to believe us, just listen to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA)…

“Democrats are demanding healthcare for everybody,” Waters said. “We want to save lives. We want to make sure healthcare is available to those who would die.”

When asked if she was good with the government shutdown, Waters got irritated, “You keep – that’s what you’re pushing on…you’re standing here and you’re trying to make me say that somehow we’re going to put non-citizens over Americans. Quit it. Stop it. This is the kind of journalism we don’t need.”

Check out the video below:

Of course, Maxine Waters knows all about being divisive. No one has forgotten what she said back in 2017.

Waters also kind of gave the game away there, didn’t she?

Their old tactics aren’t working out so well anymore, are they?

Joe Biden Note Card Scandal Resurfaces – Scripted Questions From Reporters, Reminders on Faces and Names of Hillary and Chuck Schumer

Joe Biden holds a note card with a question from a reporter – Screencap of YouTube video.

It has been known for a long time now that Joe Biden could not function in front of the media or the public without the use of note cards, but now the scandal is resurfacing, for two reasons.

First, there is new evidence of another pre-submitted question from a reporter, which establishes a pattern. It appears that the media was working with the Biden White House, submitting their questions in advance. That is REAL state-run media. There should be hearings over this. Who in the White House was demanding reporters submit questions?

Secondly, new cards indicate that Biden needed reminders to identify people like Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer. Is his mind more far gone than people even suspected?

FOX News reports:

Unearthed Biden note cards reveal he had bios, photo reminders on Hillary Clinton, Schumer

Unearthed note cards from the Biden era show the administration detailed the names and photos of high-profile Democrats, such as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as lesser-known individuals for then-President Joe Biden to ostensibly reference during live events, documents obtained by Fox News Digital show.

Five different “palm cards,” which are hand-sized note cards frequently used by politicians for quick reminders or talking points during public events, especially while on the campaign trail, were uncovered amid an investigation of National Archive documents related to the Biden administration’s use of an autopen, and obtained by Fox News Digital.

Four of the five cards obtained by Fox Digital are stamped with a disclaimer reading, “PRESIDENT HAS SEEN,” while a fifth card detailing an ABC News reporter’s question to Biden during a press conference did not include that stamp…

The fifth card detailed a question from ABC News’ reporter Mary Bruce. A handwritten note on the card states “Question #3.”

“2024: How do YOU view the path forward? How do YOU think about YOUR place in history?” the card reads.

The media actually tried to cover for Biden on this.

Can you even imagine how the liberal media would react if they found out that FOX News or Newsmax were feeding questions to Trump ahead of time? People on CNN and MSNBC would lose their minds.

Reporter Now Covering the Trump White House for Politico Said That She Cried When Trump Won in 2016

Cheyanne Daniels of Politico – Screencap of YouTube video.

The media is overwhelmingly liberal. We all know this. Journalists today seem more like propagandists for the Democrat party than reporters.

Even so, sometimes things happen that remind us just how biased the media really is.

Enter reporter Cheyanne Daniels of Politico, who covers the Trump White House. Back in 2016, when Trump pulled off a surprise win, Daniels wrote on social media that she cried.

Those are not the actions of an impartial journalist. That’s the behavior of a dedicated partisan.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

Politico Reporter Who Said She Cried Over Trump’s Election Now Covers His Presidency

As a master’s student at Northwestern University’s esteemed journalism school in 2020, Cheyanne Daniels revealed that she cried when President Donald Trump was elected four years earlier because she knew “horrible things were to come.” She now covers the Trump presidency for Politico.

Daniels joined the outlet as a breaking news reporter in May following a three-year stint as a “race and politics reporter” for The Hill, where she covered both the 2024 election and stories like, “John Boyega: ‘Star Wars’ ‘most whitest, elite space,’” and, “‘Power Rangers’ actor splits with writer, says casting a ‘milestone.’”

Her reporting is now largely focused on the White House, the subject of several of her posts on social media. On Nov. 7, 2020, the day the Associated Press called the presidential election for Joe Biden, Daniels tweeted: “4 years ago, I cried when I realized Donald Trump had been elected, knowing horrible things were to come. Now, I’m in my apartment in D.C., hearing people cheering in the streets screaming that he has been defeated, and I’m crying once again. But for a very different reason.”

One week later, Daniels’s euphoria seemed to fade. “Trump may have lost the election,” she wrote, “but over 70 million people voted for him — and some of those voters were people who felt, like their demagogue, that MY life as a Black woman doesn’t matter, that I shouldn’t exist, I threaten the purity of white power.”

This person is not a reporter. She’s clearly an activist.

This is one of the reasons why trust in the media is at an all time low. And it’s all of their own doing.

A Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) sergeant was arrested last night after crashing his vehicle into a car carrying federal agents, and was discovered to be armed with a machine gun and a cache of unregistered firearms.

The suspect, Sgt. Montez Clark (age 27), was driving a blue Chevrolet Camaro when District and federal law enforcement officers attempted to stop the vehicle for what they described as an equipment violation, according to NBC Washington.

Rather than comply, Clark allegedly fled, colliding head-on with a vehicle carrying three Diplomatic Security Service agents.

Once the vehicle was immobilized, federal and local officers say they discovered a terrifying arsenal: two Glocks, one equipped with a “switch” converting it into an automatic machine gun, plus multiple types of unregistered ammunition and high-capacity magazines.

Clark, along with two passengers identified as Sakou Yates (25) and Russell Campbell (23), were taken into custody. Charges against Sgt. Clark reportedly include:

  • Assault on a federal law enforcement officer
  • Fleeing law enforcement
  • Leaving after colliding
  • Possession of a machine gun
  • Possession of unregistered firearms and ammunition
  • Carrying a pistol without a license
  • Violation of the National Firearms Act
  • Possession of a large-capacity ammunition-feeding device
  • Related firearms violations

Campbell faces an additional count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to WJLA.

MPD has placed Sgt. Clark on administrative leave while the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau opens its own investigation.

BREAKING: Federal Judge DISQUALIFIES President Trump’s Acting US Attorney in Nevada, Rules Her Appointment is Invalid

Interview with a woman expressing her thoughts, featuring close-up of her face and focused expression, set against a neutral background.

A federal judge on Tuesday disqualified President Trump’s Acting US Attorney in Nevada, Sigal Chattah, and ruled her appointment is invalid.

Earlier this year President Trump appointed Sigal Chattah as the Interim US Attorney in Nevada. Shortly before her 120 day interim appointment expired, she resigned from the position and was reappointed as the Acting US Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Anti-Trump prosecutors immediately filed motions to disqualify Chattah, claiming this maneuver to leapfrog to an “Acting US Attorney” role was unlawful.

On Tuesday, US District Judge David G. Campbell, a George W. Bush appointee, said in a 32-page ruling that Chattah is “improperly serving” in her role as Acting US Attorney.

“Ms. Chattah is disqualified from supervising these cases or any attorneys in the handling of these cases,” Judge Campbell wrote.

Judge Campbell did not dismiss the indictments.

“Defendants’ motions are denied to the extent they seek dismissal of their indictments,” the judge wrote.

The judge reassigned Sigal Chattah’s cases to the District Judges in Nevada.

“These cases shall be reassigned to the District Judges in Nevada to whom they were originally assigned. The undersigned judge will remain available to handle similar motions filed in other Nevada cases, if warranted,” the judge wrote.

This is the second time a federal district court judge has disqualified one of President Trump’s Acting US Attorneys.

As previously reported, last month, US District Judge Mathew Brann, an Obama appointee, said Alina Habba is “not lawfully holding the Office of US Attorney” of New Jersey.

The Pennsylvania-based federal judge oversaw a challenge to Alina Habba’s authority because the judges in New Jersey had a conflict of interest after they ousted her from her position as interim US Attorney last month.

A group of federal judges over the summer declined to extend Alina Habba’s term as interim US Attorney of New Jersey after Democrat Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries launched a pressure campaign to oust her.

Habba resigned as Interim US Attorney and became Acting US Attorney for New Jersey after the Trump DOJ outmaneuvered the judges before her term expired.

President Trump recently said he will be filing a lawsuit to prevent Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) from blocking Alina Habba’s confirmation for US Attorney of New Jersey with the unconstitutional ‘blue slip’ custom.

Government Shutdown Not Stopping Democrats From Planning Retreat at Luxury Resort in California Wine Country

Luxury resort in Napa Valley – Screencap from YouTube video.

Democrats are currently losing their minds over the looming government shutdown. They’re afraid they are going to be blamed, and they will be.

That has not stopped them from planning a retreat at a luxury resort in California wince country, however. The retreat is being organized by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and the DSCC, the campaign arm of the Senate Democrats.

If the government shutdown is such an emergency situation, why haven’t the Democrats postponed or even cancelled their trip? We all know why.

FOX News reports:

Democrats plan luxury Napa retreat as government shutdown threat looms over Congress

Democrats have come under fire for planning a luxury jaunt to California’s wine country while Washington heads toward a possible government shutdown.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), chaired by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, allegedly invited lawmakers to an expensive two-day Napa Retreat from Oct. 13–14 at Hotel Yountville, a five-star resort with hot tubs and vineyard views, according to an invitation obtained by Politico Playbook.

If Congress fails to pass funding legislation before the end of September, the government may still be shut down when some Democrats gather for wine tours and dinners, the outlet reported Saturday.

The retreat, was also said to include dinner at the expensive Staglin Family Vineyards, an organic estate known to be one of Napa’s premier winemakers.

Attendees will include Gillibrand, Sen. Angela Alsobrooks and other Democrats. Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich, is also expected to attend, a Democrat briefed on the plans told Politico.

More from the Daily Caller:

The majority of the retreat is slated to take place at the hotel, with the noted exceptions of an Oct. 13 wine tour and dinner at the certified organic Staglin Family Vineyards, according to the circulated invitation.

Hotel Yountville’s website describes the luxury resort and spa as a “vineyard estate-inspired retreat” which “extends a Tuscan-European vibe.”

“Sleep deeply always, in our luxurious accommodations. Soak in one of our oversized sunken tubs and find warmth by your private fieldstone fireplace,” the hotel’s website states. “Savor a meal at Heritage Oak Café, immerse yourself in our pool, or find repose at our distinguished spa. Hotel Yountville offers more than a Wine Country trip—it’s the luxury escape you didn’t know you needed…until now.”

Doesn’t that sound lovely? Isn’t it nice that Democrats will get a chance to relax in wine country?

More importantly, are we supposed to believe the people currently packing for this trip , care about the Americans who will be affected by a government shutdown? Really?

Lush green park with large trees and benches, featuring a historic building in the background under a clear sky.

Utah State University issued an evacuation order due to a suspicious package on campus ahead of tonight’s TPUSA event.

Video posted to social media showed police shouting, “fire in the hole!” three times before they blew up the suspicious package.

The bomb scare comes just weeks after TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated during an event at Utah Valley University.

Tuesday evening’s TPUSA event will feature Senator Mike Lee, Representative Andy Biggs, former Rep. Jason Chaffetz and Governor Spencer Cox.

ABC 4 Utah reported:

Utah State University issued an emergency alert ordering the Old Main Building to be evacuated.

The alert was issued at 2:44 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30. Anyone in the Old Main Building has been ordered to leave immediately using the nearest exit and to follow instructions from emergency personnel.

According to USU spokesperson Amanda DeRito, there was a suspicious package in the building, and police are responding. As of 3:45 p.m., the situation has been cleared, the Old Main Building is safe. Scheduled activities are returning to normal.

Witnesses told ABC4 that they were in class when they were evacuated, and they said that they saw bomb squad units outside the building and that there was a detonation of some kind.

Kiera Larsen, a USU student, told ABC4 that she was in class in Old Main when a man came in and told them they needed to evacuate the building.

Utah State said: “A suspicious device was found near the exterior of Old Main. University and Local law enforcement were dispatched to the scene. A device was located and deemed to be a non-explosive device. Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad detonated the suspicious device. Old Main building is now clear and safe. All scheduled events may resume as normal.”

The Turning Point USA event at Utah State is still a go.

Cryin’ Chuck Schumer Is Laughed Out of the Senate after Alleging NYT Poll Blaming Dems for Shutdown Is “Biased”

Senator Chuck Schumer speaks at the U.S. Capitol, addressing key issues while colleagues listen attentively during a government shutdown discussion.
Schumer was laughed out of the US Senate after claiming a NY Times poll was biased against Democrats.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, the government is expected to shut down tonight at midnight because Democrats refuse to vote for a stopgap bill unless they can secure $1.5 trillion in spending that will fund healthcare for illegal aliens and sex reassignment surgery for children.

Senate Democrats have been fighting a Trump-backed stopgap bill that would fund the government until November 21.

On Tuesday night Senate Democrats voted to shut down the US government. The vote was 53-47 along party lines. Seven Democrats would have had to vote with Republicans to prevent the shutdown that will take place at 12:01 AM tonight.

The radical policies that they’re pushing only appeal to the radical wing of the Democratic Party, and almost half of Democrats do not want a government shutdown.

Earlier today a New York Times/Sienna poll found that 65% of Americans, nearly 2/3’s, believe Democrats should not shut down the government.

That number included 98% of Republicans and nearly half of all Democrats who took part in the poll.

Poll results showing public opinion on whether Democrats should shut down the government if demands are unmet, with 27% in favor and 65% against.

But this did not stop Cryin’ Chuck Schumer from spinning the poll’s results.

Schumer even alleged the poll — by the far left New York Times – was “biased.”

What a joke!

Schumer was laughed out of the chamber with that line.
