A freight train at the New Mexico-Arizona state line caught fire on Friday after derailing. The I-40 highway next to the fire was closed in both directions, affecting trucks that use that route for the transportation of goods. Vehicles were being directed to alternate routes.

According to the New Mexico State Police, they told CBS that the fire was still burning on Saturday morning.

The train contained 35 cars in total with 6 of them that were transporting propane, which is highly flammable. Early footage of the wreckage and fire were from drivers who were passing by.

CBS News reported:

A freight train carrying fuel derailed and caught fire Friday near the Arizona-New Mexico state line, forcing the closure of an interstate highway that serves as a key trucking route.

As of Saturday morning, the fire was still burning, a public information officer for the New Mexico State Police told CBS News.

About 35 of the cars carrying “mixed freight” had derailed, officials said Saturday. Six of those cars contained propane.

“No injuries were reported in the midday train wreck near Lupton, Arizona. BNSF Railway spokesperson Lena Kent said company personnel were on site working to clear the wreckage. Kent said the cause of the derailment is under investigation,” CBS News reported.

A truck stop and people that lived nearby were evacuated as a precaution. Wind conditions were carrying heavy smoke while firefighters were responding to the emergency. Fire crews were also using air monitoring and other logistics to help monitor the fire. Passenger train Amtrak had to cancel some of their routes as a result of the freight train derailment.

Even with alternate routes, the closure of the I-40 also caused a major backup for approximately 10 miles.

The NTSB will also be looking into the accident.

Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters condemned President Joe Biden’s recent rewrite of Title IX, labeling it as “radical and illegal” and a direct assault on the rights of states, families, and specifically young women and girls.

The Biden regime proudly announced that women will be forced to allow men in their locker rooms and bathrooms with a new 1577-page Title IX ruling.

Women will be forced to compete against men and women will be forced to accept men on their sports teams.

And, as May Mailman, Director of Independent Women’s Law Center, notes, Title IX is not a college law.  This will impact girls as young as those in the Headstart program, geared to children from three to five-years old, those in daycare, and those in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Young girls everywhere will be subject to the type of sexual exposure allegedly faced by the female athletes forced to share a locker room with trans swimmer Lia Thomas.

Preferred pronouns are also now mandated, and even the single use of the “wrong” pronoun can require discipline.

Title IX is now a thing of the past.

The new rules cement protections for L.G.B.T.Q. students under federal law. Additionally, it reverses Trump-era policies, including one that protects women by dictating how schools should respond to cases of alleged sexual misconduct in K-12 schools and college campuses.

Walters made it clear that Oklahoma does not intend to comply with the unconstitutional federal mandate.

“President Biden deciding to rewrite Title IX is one of the most radical and illegal moves we’ve ever seen from the federal government. It’s an attack on our states. It’s an attack on our families. And it’s an attack on our young women and girls. We will not stand for this in Oklahoma,” said Ryan Walters, Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

“We are pursuing all actions to oppose this illegal and unconstitutional move by the Biden administration. We have already instructed our districts to not comply with this illegal rule change for president Biden. We will not allow boys in the girls restrooms. We will not put boys in girls sports as a coach and as a parent. I’ve watched young girls work to learn the lessons that come along with playing sports.”

“They have been able to show leadership. They have been able to dedicate so much of their life to learning those lessons that come from hard work, that come from teamwork, that come from competition. And to see the federal government try to erase girl sports is disgusting.”

Governors and state education leaders in Florida, Louisiana, Montana, and South Carolina have also instructed school districts to ignore the rule and have indicated possible legal actions, per Education Week.

“We’ve already heard back from a lot of districts that are very pleased that we stood in front of them in this dictate from the federal government. We’re very proud of our districts that are holding the line, and we will never allow Joe Biden to control our schools and indoctrinate our kids.”

“Our young girls deserve these experiences, and they shouldn’t have them ripped away from some activists in Washington, D.C., who want to use the power of the federal government to impose radical gender theory on our state. I will continue to keep you all updated as we continue to move swiftly and aggressively against this overreach.”

President Trump is currently spending his days in a court in Manhattan because a crooked Soros DA brought bogus charges related to ‘hush payments’ made to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Biden’s DOJ also indicted Trump on more than 40 felony charges.

Of course, Joe Biden knows he can’t win unless he cheats. He is free to travel around and slur through campaign speeches at small venues while Trump is tied up in court.

This is by design.

Demonstrations at GW University campus over Israel-Hamas war enter 3rd day

Pro-Palestinian student protests on and in front of George Washington University’s University Yard entered their third day on Saturday with no sign of slowing down.

While many protesters have abandoned the encampment on the yard, WTOP’s Linh Bui saw 15 tents in the new H Street encampment and over 50 protesters waking up on the street Saturday morning.

The Hatchet, the GW University student newspaper, reported that the number of demonstrators outside the yard swelled to somewhere between 200 and 250 around 11 p.m. Friday night on H Street, but dwindled to around 100 in the early morning hours on Saturday.

Most protesters, mix of students and nonstudents, moved onto the street and surrounding area Friday afternoon — taking their bags and tents with them — after university workers put up metal fencing around University Yard. The student news source reported that there were far less demonstrators in the original encampment as of Saturday morning.

This is Occupy Wall Street all over again, they’re just using the conflict in the Middle East as a cover cause.

Hamas agitators have infested Universities across America disrupting education and endangering people’s lives.

Over 33 people were arrested on Thursday at Indiana University for staging pro-Hamas “protests” at Dunn Meadow.

The agitators had tents and other structures, which according to the University, was a violation of the school’s policy.

According to the University provost, Dunn Meadow is a place where “expression on all subjects” is permitted.

WISHTV 8 reported:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — At least 33 people were arrested during a Thursday rally at Indiana University’s Dunn Meadow in support of Palestine, law enforcement agencies tell News 8.

The people were arrested for having structures, including tents, at their protest. IU said this violates a university policy and directed News 8 to this link.

Dunn Meadow is designated as a gathering spot for “expression on all subjects,” according to a policy listed under the Office of the Provost.

“The protest started Thursday morning in Dunn Meadow, a park which happens to be across the street from Chabad House of Bloomington, a resource for Jewish people on the campus,” WISHTV 8 reported.

Although the First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects free speech, a gathering that is not peaceful does not fall under its confines.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” First Amendment to the US Constitution.

Numerous riots and chaos have been spreading to many college campuses. Cal Poly Humboldt shut down its campus on Friday after pro-Hamas agitators took over the college president’s office.

Columbia University, with its Hamas agitators, has become so dangerous that in-person classes were canceled this past Monday. The campus has become very unsafe for Jewish students.

This is the current climate of college education. Chaos and calls for violence have replaced learning and critical thinking.

Emory University economics professor Caroline Fohlin went viral this week with video of her arrest as police cleared an illegal campus ‘occupy’ protest by Hamas supporters Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia. The shocking video of the female professor being forcibly taken to the ground by a police officer who needed a second officer to control the resisting Fohlin and then her hitting her head on the sidewalk was reposted and viewed millions of times worldwide.

Fohlin was one of two professors arrested at the protest Thursday. The other was Noëlle McAfee, the chair of Emory’s philosophy department.

Fohlin is married to Emory’s Dean of Admission, John F. Latting (He/Him/His).

Fohlin appeared in court on Friday where she was freed on $50 bond. Fohlin’s attorney Gregory Clement issued a statement Friday after her release stating she was not a protester and denying the charges against her, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (scroll down) (excerpt):

All 23 people arrested at Thursday’s protest at Emory have been released from the Dekalb County Jail, records show.

Defendants were released on bond by 6:25 p.m., with all of them except two being released on signature bonds, which are cashless bonds usually used for minor or nonviolent offenses. Bonds were granted to the defendants Friday in magistrate court.

Among the first to be released Friday afternoon was Emory economics professor Caroline Fohlin, who is a tenured professor at the university. Fohlin was granted a $50 bond on a charge of simple battery against a police officer and disorderly conduct. Her arrest was caught on camera and went viral on social media.

“Caroline Fohlin was not a protester at Emory on April 25,” her attorney Gregory Clement said. “She emerged from her office, concerned only about the treatment of students on the quad. She looks forward to vigorously defending the accusations against her in court.”

Fohlin said she was concerned for the safety of a protester who was being arrested, claiming she saw the officer’s knee on his neck and was trying get the officer’s attention. Fohlin asked the person recording her detention to call her husband John to help her.

Professor McAfee spoke to WXIA-TV about her arrest (excerpt):

Noëlle McAfee, the chair of the Emory Philosophy Department, spoke to 11Alive’s Brittany Kleinpeter about her arrest that, in the last 24 hours, has been broadcast worldwide.

She said she first saw a young protester thrown to the ground by officers, who were “pummeling them, just pummeling and pummeling.”

“The mother in me said ‘stop. Stop.’ And I made sure to stand four feet away from them, standing still, nonconfrontational, I said, ‘stop’ — one of the cops stood up and got right in front of me and said, ‘Ma’am, you need to step back, you need to step back,’” McAfee, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, said. “And I was watching them pummel somebody, I said, ‘no.’ And they arrested me.”

In comments to the Journal-Constitution (scroll down), McAfee slammed the Atlanta police (excerpt):

Noelle McAfee, chair of Emory University’s philosophy department, said she’s been concerned for the past year about Emory “clamping down on student dissent and spaces for expressing their ideas.” McAfee was detained after a Thursday protest and ticketed, but she was not booked into the DeKalb County jail.

She said the reaction to recent demonstrations by the university delegitimized and dismissed student voices, noting the characterization that protestors were outside actors and antisemitic.

“Calling in the Atlanta police is escalating things. Those are the true outside agitators,” she said.

A small peaceful, protest was reportedly held Saturday at Emory with no arrests.

Joe Biden on Friday morning called into “The Howard Stern Show” in an unannounced appearance on the far-left shock jock’s SiriusXM show.

Biden’s interview with Howard Stern was a total dumpster fire.

Joe Biden told Howard Stern he “got arrested standing on a porch with a black family” during the civil rights movement.
He claimed “women would send very salacious pictures” to him when he was a US Senator in the 1970s.
Joe Biden told Howard Stern he saved 6 people from drowning when he was a lifeguard back in the day.

At one point Biden said he considered jumping off a bridge after his wife Neilia and daughter Naomi were killed in a car accident in 1972.

“I used to sit there and think to myself, I think I’ll take out a bottle of Scotch,” Biden told Howard Stern.

“I actually thought about you know, you don’t have to be crazy to commit suicide. If you’ve been at the top of a mountain you think it’s never going to be there again,” he said.

“And just a brief moment, I thought maybe I just go to the Delaware Memorial Bridge and jump… but I had two kids,” he added.

In a previous version of this story, Biden told CNN’s Gloria Borger that he took out a bottle of gin after his wife and daughter died.

“I thought about it, not doing it. I thought about what it would be like just to go to the Delaware Memorial Bridge and just jump off and end it all,” Biden told Gloria Borger in 2020.

“I don’t drink at all. I’ve never had a drink in my life, but I remember taking out a fifth of, I think it was gin, and put it on the kitchen table. But I couldn’t even make myself take a drink. What saved me was really my boys,” Biden said to Gloria Borger.

Katie Hobbs on Tuesday vetoed Senate Bill 1414 which would have increased penalties for repeat offenders of Arizona’s organized retail theft law.

The legislation would deem that “a person who is convicted of a third or subsequent violation of organized retail theft with the intent to resell or trade the stolen merchandise to be sentenced as a category two repetitive offender,” as opposed to current law, which classifies repeat offenders as a category one repetitive offender “for the second and subsequent offenses.” Category two offenders receive harsher sentences.

Hobbs wrote in a veto letter, “Today, I vetoed Senate Bill 1414. I have signed Sen. Gowan’s bill SB1411 establishing an Organized Retail Theft Task Force in the Attorney General’s office that will be critical to adequately and appropriately combat this issue. Their first report is due July 1, 2025 and I look forward to reviewing their policy recommendations and working together to find balanced policies for this matter.”

However, the bill she signed into law only establishes a task force in the Attorney General’s office. It does nothing to punish repeat offenders like SB1414.

The bill summary states:

Purpose

Requires a person who is convicted of a third or subsequent violation of organized retail theft with the intent to resell or trade the stolen merchandise to be sentenced as a category two repetitive offender.

Background

Current statute classifies a person who is convicted of multiple felony offenses that were not committed on the same occasion, but that are either consolidated for trial purposes or are not historical prior felony convictions, as a first time felony offender for the first offense and a category one repetitive offender for the second and subsequent offenses. A person who is at least 18 years of age or who has been tried as an adult must be sentenced as: 1) a category two repetitive offender if the person stands convicted of a felony and has one historical prior felony conviction; or 2) a category three repetitive offender if the person stands convicted of a felony and has two or more historical prior felony convictions (A.R.S. § 13-703).

A person commits organized retail theft if the person acting alone or in conjunction with another person: 1) removes merchandise from a retail establishment without paying the purchase price with the intent to resell or trade the merchandise for money or other value; or 2) uses an artifice, instrument, container, device or other article to facilitate the removal of merchandise from a retail establishment without paying the purchase price. Organized retail theft is a class 4 felony (A.R.S. § 13-1819).

A category two repetitive offender who is convicted of organized retail theft carries a presumptive imprisonment sentence of 4.5 years and an aggravated imprisonment sentence of 7.5 years. The fine for a felony may be up to $150,000 (A.R.S. §§ 13-703 and 13-801).

There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.

Provisions

  Requires a person who is convicted of a third or subsequent violation of organized retail theft with the intent to resell or trade the stolen merchandise to be sentenced as a category two repetitive offender.
  Becomes effective on the general effective date.

This is one of the ten measures Katie Hobbs rejected on Tuesday alone. As The Gateway Pundit reported, Hobbs vetoed several common-sense bills on Tuesday, including SB2581, which would require proof of residency to vote in Arizona elections; SB1129, which would protect homeowners by allowing them to remove an unlawful occupant or a “squatter” from their property; and SB1182, which would have protected girls’ showers from biological males in public K-12 schools.

Per Axios, Hobbs vetoed a total of 143 bills last year. As of Tuesday, she has vetoed 195 bills since taking office last January, shattering Democrat Janet Napolitano’s previous record of 181 vetoes during an entire four-year term.

District Attorney Sandra Doorley is at the center of controversy following a traffic stop where she appeared to leverage her status as Monroe County’s DA to evade law enforcement procedures.

The incident, captured on an officer’s body-worn camera, shows Doorley dismissing the reason for the stop and insinuating her legal authority would nullify the traffic violation.

Doorley was recorded going 55 mph in a 35 mph zone on Monday evening on Phillips Road. Instead of pulling over, Doorley continued driving to her residence on Fallen Leaf Terrace, about a mile away, while an officer followed with active lights and siren.

The video, released by the Town of Webster, depicts a defiant Doorley who, at several points during the encounter, reminded the officers of her position.

Doorley argued she had been on a call with Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier to assure the police officer she was not a threat. However, the video shows her using her phone to demand Kohlmeier convince the officer to leave her be.

The encounter escalated when Doorley refused to provide her ID, instead handing the officer her phone with Kohlmeier on the line.

“Listen, I know the law better than you. Would you just leave? Would you just leave me alone?”

“I don’t really care. I don’t really care. You know what? If you give me a traffic ticket, that’s fine. I’m the one who prosecutes it.”

“I’m going to prosecute myself,” Doorley said. “Do you know what I’ll do with the ticket?” She then laughed.

Police: So why didn’t you just stop like you’re supposed to?

Doorley: Because I didn’t feel like stopping on Philip’s Road.

Police: That’s not your choice.

Doorley: Well, I made it my choice.

Police: Okay. Now you made it a bigger deal than it needed to be.

Doorley: It’s a really bigger deal when people start coming, it becomes a much bigger deal.

Police: Well, you caused that, Sandra. What do you want us to do? Not do our job because it’s you? You broke another law because of that, right? You should know better… That’s an arrestable offense, Sandra. You know this.

Doorley issued a statement committing to the rule of law and expressing her intention to accept responsibility for her actions. She claimed to have pled guilty and submitted the ticket to Webster Town Court.

“On Monday, April 22, 2024, I was driving home following a busy day at work. I admit that I was not paying attention to my speed on Phillips Road in the Town of Webster. Less than half a mile from my neighborhood, I noticed a Webster Police car behind me. Once I realized that the intention of the car was to pull me over, I called the Webster Police Chief to inform him that I was not a threat and that I would speak to the Officer at my house down the street. The Webster Police Officer followed me to my house and issued me a speeding ticket for my speed of 55mph in a 35mph zone. I acknowledged that I was speeding and I accepted the ticket. By 1:00PM the following day, I pled guilty and sent the ticket to the Webster Town Court because I believe in accepting responsibility for my actions and had no intention of using my position to receive a benefit. Nobody, including your District Attorney, is above the rule of law, even traffic laws. Anybody who knows me understands without a doubt that I have dedicated my entire 33 year career to the safety of this community.
