Residents in Louisiana’s Democrat-run capital city have won a historic battle to secede and create their own city following a lengthy court battle.

As the New York Times reported, the Louisiana Supreme Court cleared the way on Friday for a group of mostly-white, affluent residents of Baton Rouge to secede and form the new city of St. George. This is the first city incorporated in the Pelican State in almost two decades.

In the 4-3 ruling, the justices found that lower courts were wrong in blocking St George’s creation over concerns of its financial viability.

Andrew Murrell, one of the leaders of the St. George movement, released the following statement after the Louisiana Supreme Court’s decision.

This is the culmination of citizens exercising their constitutional rights. We voted and we won.

Whether you are for or you are against St. George, now is your opportunity, a historic opportunity, to create a city from the beginning, from the ground up. It’s your ideas, it’s your policies, it’s your way of life and now you can come together and put those out there and have someone accountable to you.

Now, we begin the process of delivering on our promises of a better city. We welcome both our friends and foes to the table to create St. George.

The Times reported that in 2015, supporters failed to collect enough signatures to bring their proposal up for a vote but prevailed in 2019 before a lengthy court battle stalled the initiative.

The New York Post notes that Sharon Weston Broome, the mayor-president who leads the combined Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish governments, previously sued the St. George organizers. She whined that the secession would suck more than $48 million in yearly tax revenue from the local government.

St. George will be Louisiana’s sixth largest city in terms of population, with nearly 100,000 people.

St. George will likely be a GOP stronghold as well, given its heavily white population. In 2020, white Louisianans supported President Trump by a 77%–22% margin while blacks supported Joe Biden by 88%–10%.

While Broome committed to serving the residents of St. George following the vote, others fumed. The local NAACP released a statement slamming the new town and warning the development would negatively impact Baton Rouge’s education system and “community representation.”

The St. George plan poses significant risks to our education system, threatens the continuity of critical programs, and challenges community representation. The creation of a new municipality introduces considerable uncertainty around funding allocation for our schools, jeopardizing the cornerstone of our community’s future: education.

TIME magazine has released a major cover story preparing its readers for Trump’s return to the White House.

In a long-form interview with the former president, journalist Eric Cortellessa establishes Trump’s key failing in his first term in office; he didn’t go far enough.

According to Cortellessa, Trump is planning his retribution through a series of policies, including a mass deportation campaign, gutting the deep state, and pardoning those involved in the January 6th protests.

The article, which is filled with the typical left-wing falsehoods, states:

What emerged in two interviews with Trump, and conversations with more than a dozen of his closest advisers and confidants, were the outlines of an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world.

To carry out a deportation operation designed to remove more than 11 million people from the country, Trump told me, he would be willing to build migrant detention camps and deploy the U.S. military, both at the border and inland. He would let red states monitor women’s pregnancies and prosecute those who violate abortion bans. He would, at his personal discretion, withhold funds appropriated by Congress, according to top advisers. He would be willing to fire a U.S. Attorney who doesn’t carry out his order to prosecute someone, breaking with a tradition of independent law enforcement that dates from America’s founding.

He is weighing pardons for every one of his supporters accused of attacking the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, more than 800 of whom have pleaded guilty or been convicted by a jury. He might not come to the aid of an attacked ally in Europe or Asia if he felt that country wasn’t paying enough for its own defense. He would gut the U.S. civil service, deploy the National Guard to American cities as he sees fit, close the White House pandemic-preparedness office, and staff his Administration with acolytes who back his false assertion that the 2020 election was stolen.

Fearing a backlash from Democrats, TIME also published a separate article outlining their decision to present Trump in such a positive light:

Trump was TIME’s Person of the Year in 2016, while the magazine has previously acknowledged that there was a conspiracy to remove him from office back in 2020. If he can overcome the Democratic election fraud, he may reprise that accolade in 2024.

‘Sadly, American culture is increasingly hostile’ to faith

Long have reports of the persecution of Christians highlighted China and Pakistan, multiple Islamic nations in Africa, those hotbeds of hate for Christians in the Middle East.

But now it’s the “West” that is being called out.

A report at the Washington Stand explains that now international religious freedom organizations “are monitoring religious freedom conditions in the United States … and it’s easy to see why.”

Arielle Del Turco, of the Center for Religious Liberty at the Family Research Council, added, to the publication, “Sadly, American culture is increasingly hostile to traditional Christian beliefs.”

Two recent situations both have developed in the leftist state of Colorado, run now by Democrats in the governor’s office, state House and state Senate. There bureaucrats first accused Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips of discrimination because he wouldn’t promote same-sex marriages with his cake artistry, and then they demanded a web designer promote same-sex weddings if she provided any wedding services.

In both cases the principals are Christians who refused state demands they violate their faith, and in both cases the state was summarily slapped down by the U.S. Supreme Court. However, the state still maintains the so-called “anti-discrimination” agenda under which the two were charged.

Del Turco told the Stand, “To a large extent, we can all intuit that by browsing through a streaming service or scrolling on social media. But these cultural shifts are also having real-work impacts for Christians in America who simply want to go about their lives while staying true to their faith.”

She pointed out, “When Christian couples are denied a foster care license because their faith is at odds with gender ideology or fifth graders are prevented from starting an interfaith prayer club at school, these are critical reminders that religious freedom isn’t something we can take for granted — it must be defended. Thankfully, the U.S. still has strong legal protections in most cases and religious freedom is the victor in court more often than not. However, cultural support for religious freedom is in peril and we must be intentional about fostering that.”

A report from the FRC’s Center for Religious Liberty just months ago, called “Free to Believe? The Intensifying Intolerance Toward Christians in the West,” documented 168 incidents of anti-Christian hate or discrimination in recent years – including 33 in 2023.

Many happened during the wildly out-of-synch government lockdowns during COVID.

That report found, “As the mainstream culture moves further and further away from a Christian worldview, Christian beliefs that contradict progressive secular values are increasingly denounced by the culture and wrongly portrayed as being hateful or bigoted.”

Tony Perkins, chief of the FRC, said in the Stand report, “It is shocking to see Western countries — the same ones we think of as free and open societies — take authoritarian measures against Christians simply trying to live out their faith.”

He warned “hostility” to Christians – which was what the Supreme Court found Colorado had exhibited – “is clearly and steadily rising in the West.”

Also, there have been a flood of reports in recent years of vandalism, fire-bombing or more at Christian churches whose congregations are unwilling to endorse Joe Biden’s radical abortion and transgender ideologies.

The report noted even the FBI, through a field office, “compiled and circulated a memo detailing plans to spy on Catholics who attend the Tridentine Mass, the form of the Mass most common prior to 1969.”

The report explained there also are increasing attacks on Christians across Europe.

El Salvador’s President Nayyib Bukele stunned members of his cabinet on Monday but announcing plans to investigate them all for corruption.

In a public meeting broadcasted on the X platform, Bukele asks his Attorney General to investigate the entire executive branch:

As you can all see everyone here is part of the executive branch except for one person, the Attorney General, who is not part of the executive branch. He is here for a simple reason, I want to ask him in public to investigate everyone sitting here. Retroactively and into the future. I imagine there should be no problem with that.

Such measures are typical of Bukele, who since taking office in 2019 has launched a brutal yet successful crackdown against corruption and the country’s violent drug gangs.

Back in February, Bukele gave a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) where he urged attendees to keep up the fight against globalism.

“If you want globalism to die here too, you must be willing to unapologetically fight against everything and everyone that stands for it,” he explained. “Fight for your freedoms, fight for your rights.”

A man has been arrested in London after stabbing several people with a sword outside one of the city’s underground stations.

The individual, who has yet to be identified, reportedly drove his vehicle into Hainault Station before going on his melee spree.

Sky News reports:

A critical incident has been declared near a Tube station in northeast London after reports a man wielding a sword attacked members of the public and police officers. The man crashed a vehicle into a house in Thurlow Gardens, before reportedly stabbing a number of people, police said.

Last week, a contentious vote took place in the Massachusetts House of Representatives where a bill aimed at prioritizing U.S. military veterans for shelter assistance over illegal immigrants was defeated.

The bill, known as “Homeless Veterans Prioritization for Shelter Assistance,” was rejected with a vote of 27-129. The majority of Democrats opposed the bill, while all 25 House Republicans, along with two Democrats, supported it.

The Amendment 698, introduced by Republican Minority Leader Bradley Jones as part of House Bill 4600, was intended to give homeless veterans preferential access to the state’s emergency housing assistance program,

Despite the support from Republicans and a small faction of Democrats, the bill was heavily criticized by other Democrats as a political maneuver.

The Democrats believe that migrants who come across the border illegally deserve more treatment than veterans, who have literally put their lives on the line for our country.

The opposition from Democrats was partly based on the argument that non-English speaking illegal immigrants require more substantial support due to language barriers.

“They have the advantage of speaking the language, most of our military folks. So this folks that we’re really working on may not have that. So it’s going to be really difficult for them to say, ‘Yes, I used to be an electrician in my country. I’m just using mine, which is Somalia.’ But that might not really fall into our laws that we have in this country,” said one of the state representatives.

Gov. Maura Healey had previously said the state lacks the space, services, and funding to provide shelter for more than 7,500 families, according to Newsweek. Massachusetts has spent nearly $1 billion on state-run shelters for families and migrants, the Boston Globe reported.

Rep. Gerard Cassidy, the Democrat co-chair of the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs told the Fall River Reporter the bill was a political ploy and a bill for veterans will be coming out in May.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who has moved migrants from his state to the Bay State, called the vote “insanity.”

“It must end,” Abbott said on X, formerly known as twitter. “Illegal immigrants should not be prioritized over our veterans who served our country.”

House Democrats in Massachusetts also voted down a bill that would install a three-month residency requirement for family shelter, prioritizing state residents on a waitlist, the Fall River Reporter said.

Assistant Majority Leader Alice Pesich, a Democrat, told the Fall River Reporter that no families, whether they are new to the state or not, are being put out on the street.

Over recent years, there has been an increase in the number of illegal immigrants in Massachusetts.

According to Pew Research Center, in 2021, there were 220,000 undocumented workers in Massachusetts, which is about 5.5% of the state’s workforce. This means that undocumented residents accounted for 4.3% of the population in 2021, which is an estimated gain of 120,000 undocumented residents since 2010.

Radical far-left New York Judge Juan Merchan fined President Donald Trump $9,000 for speaking out in his own defense and violating his gag order in the ongoing lawfare trial in New York City.

The prosecution has yet to define a crime in this latest case supported by the Biden regime.

Trump is not allowed to speak out in his defense.

But the liberal mainstream media willingly pushed the regime narrative day after day describing the case to the American public in an ongoing string of lies.

MSNBC reported:

Judge Juan Merchan found Donald Trump in contempt on Tuesday for violating a gag order nine times, imposing $1,000 fines for each violation.

Manhattan prosecutors had asked the judge to hold Trump in contempt for alleged violations of the order barring him from speaking out against witnesses, jurors, and others.

Under state law, Merchan could fine Trump up to $1,000 or jail him for up to 30 days. The state asked the judge to fine Trump and instruct him to take down offending posts. Notably, the prosecutor in court last week said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office wasn’t yet asking for incarceration and argued that Trump seemed to be angling for that.

Prosecutors raised the former president’s posts on social media and his campaign website as violating Merchan’s order. One of the allegedly offending posts was one in which Trump purportedly quoted Fox News host Jesse Watters as saying, “They are catching undercover Liberal Activists lying to the Judge in order to get on the Trump Jury.”

Panic in the media is real. The propagandists are terrified.

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace expressed deep concerns during a recent broadcast, suggesting that her position at the network—and the state of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner—could be in jeopardy if former President Donald Trump were to be re-elected.

This revelation comes as President Trump takes to Truth Social to lambaste Joe Biden over his “disastrous” performance at the recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Trump, who skipped all Correspondents’ Dinners during his presidency, didn’t hold back in his critique: “The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was really bad. Colin Jost BOMBED, and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! Doesn’t get much worse than this!”

Wallace appeared visibly shaken by the implications of a Trump return to the Oval Office. On her MSNBC show, Wallace voiced concerns that not only her role but also the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and the broader institution of a free press could be under threat, which is an absolute exaggeration.

Freedom of the press has come under greater attack under the Biden regime, with increased levels of censorship and fact-checking compared to the Trump presidency.

“Depending on what happens in November, this time next year, I might not be sitting here,” Wallace said.

“There might not be a White House Correspondents Dinner or a free press. While our democracy wouldn’t exactly fall apart immediately without it, the real threat looms larger: A candidate with outward disdain, not just for a free press but for all of our freedoms. And for the rule of law itself.”

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley publicly apologized this Monday following a heated exchange with a police officer during a traffic stop that escalated into a contentious moment caught on camera.

In the video, which has since gone viral, Doorley can be seen attempting to use her official position to circumvent standard traffic enforcement procedures.

The incident, which was recorded by an officer’s body camera, occurred on Phillips Road in the Town of Webster, as previously reported by The Gateway Pundit.

Doorley was documented driving at a speed of 55 miles per hour in a 35 mile-per-hour zone. Instead of stopping immediately, the DA continued to her home, with the officer in pursuit, lights and siren activated.

The footage made public by the Town of Webster Police Department shows an arrogant Doorley who, at various points during the interaction, abused her power and tried to bully an officer, suggesting her position as District Attorney could influence the outcome of the traffic stop.

Following widespread criticism and a call for accountability, Doorley addressed the public with a statement and a video in which she expressed remorse and the importance of adhering to the law.

In her statement, Doorley acknowledged her lapse in judgment, stating:

“On Monday, April 22, 2024, I was driving home following a busy day at work. I admit that I was not paying attention to my speed on Phillips Road in the Town of Webster. Less than half a mile from my neighborhood, I noticed a Webster Police car behind me. Once I realized that the intention of the car was to pull me over, I called the Webster Police Chief to inform him that I was not a threat and that I would speak to the Officer at my house down the street. The Webster Police Officer followed me to my house and issued me a speeding ticket for my speed of 55mph in a 35mph zone. I acknowledged that I was speeding and I accepted the ticket.

By 1:00PM the following day, I pled guilty and sent the ticket to the Webster Town Court because I believe in accepting responsibility for my actions and had no intention of using my position to receive a benefit. Nobody, including your District Attorney, is above the rule of law, even traffic laws. Anybody who knows me understands without a doubt that I have dedicated my entire 33 year career to the safety of this community. My work to ensure the safety and respect of law enforcement is well proven time and time again. I stand by my work and stand by my commitment to the public safety of Monroe County.”

In her video apology on Monday, Doorley cited stress from work as a factor for her non-cooperative behavior, including dealing with multiple homicide cases and a personal health scare within her family.

“Last Monday, I failed you and the standards that I hold myself to. And for that, I am so sorry. What I did was wrong. No excuses. I take full responsibility for my actions. I fell short of the values I’ve held for my entire 33-year career. I didn’t treat this officer with the respect that he deserved. All police officers deserve respect. I am truly and sincerely sorry.”

“I had just come from work. I was dealing with three homicides that occurred over the weekend. I watched a video where an innocent cab driver was executed, and I was still reeling from a frightening medical concern that my husband received that afternoon.”

“But we all had bad days and stress, and it was wrong for me to take it out on an officer who was simply doing his job. While I previously apologized to him, I will say it again. I’m sorry. Police already have a tough job, and that day I made this officer’s job harder. To the community, I owe you full transparency.”

In terms of rectifying her mistake, Doorley outlined several steps she is taking to ensure accountability.

“Here’s what I’m doing to hold myself accountable. First, I already pled guilty to the speeding ticket, and I will willingly pay the fine.”

“Next, I’m referring the entire matter to a district attorney from another county for review and will fully cooperate with that investigation. I am going to self-report this incident to the grievance committee, and I will cooperate with their investigation. Finally, if one of my assistant district attorneys had acted this way, I would have disciplined them, so I’m disciplining myself. I will take ethics training to remind myself that professionalism matters. I’ve been humbled by my own stupidity, and I am fully to blame. I will make this right. I ask for your forgiveness,” she concluded.
