There’s no question that the 30 thousand troops involved in Russia’s Northern Kharkov Oblast offensive are not nearly enough to undertake a conquest of a major center like Kharkov city with over 1 million people.

Having said that, it is also true that Kharkov city is already within Russian artillery range, and it is also a fact that the main supply lines to it are also under Russian fire control.

So, while conquering the city is beyond present capabilities, Russian Federation forces are about to make existence there a living hell.

During his major state visit to China, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that capturing Ukraine’s second-largest city of Kharkov is not part of Moscow’s current plan.

CNBC reported:

“Speaking at a news conference in China, Putin said that Russian forces operating in the area may be forced to create a “sanitary zone” to shore up Russia’s own security, according to Russian state news agency Ria Novosti.”

Ukrainian forces are scrambling to hold off Russia’s latest push, assembling reinforcements that are weakening other parts of the ever expanding 2-thousand mile long front-line.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said defense forces had ‘stabilized’ the situation around Kharkov, after Russian forces advanced 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) into the northeastern region.

Russia’s Defense Ministry on Friday said it had captured 12 settlements in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkov region in the last week, before adding that it “continues to advance into the depths” of the country.

[…] Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier in the day that Russian forces operating near Ukraine’s second-largest city could be forced to create a buffer zone to shore up security. Putin added that the Kremlin’s current plan was not to capture the city of Kharkov.”

Euronews reported:

“I have said publicly that if it continues we will be forced to create a security zone, a sanitary zone,” [Putin] said, “As for Kharkov, there are no such plans (to capture the city)”.”

Putin’s comments come as Russian and Ukrainian forces engage in fierce battles in the middle of of Volchansk, a key town in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkov region, just 5 kilometers from the border.

The move has piled pressure on Ukraine’s outnumbered, outgunned and outmaneuvered forces.

“Former Russian defense minister – now the head of the National Security Council – Sergei Shoigu insisted Russian troops are pushing the offensive in many directions and that ‘it’s going quite well’.

‘I hope we will keep advancing. We have certain reserves for the purpose, in personnel, equipment and munitions’, he said in televised remarks.”

The event is significant, as it essentially marks the beginning of Trump’s play for the state — a state that has not tipped red in decades. The last time the state went red was in 1972, when Republican Richard Nixon defeated Democrat George McGovern in a landslide win. But in 2016, Trump came remarkably close to taking the state, coming just 1.5 percentage points behind Hillary Clinton. The difference was less than 44,000 votes.

While Trump has said throughout his campaign that he will make a “heavy play” for blue states such as New York, New Jersey, New Mexico, Virginia, and Minnesota, he reiterated that point during a recent interview on KNSI Radio.

It’s not like, in my opinion, that blue,” he said of Minnesota. “We’re going to put a heavy move into Minnesota, I promise.”

A May KSTP/Survey USA poll showed Trump well within striking distance of President Biden in the North Star State, garnering 42 percent support to Biden’s 44 percent. Because Biden’s lead is within the survey’s ± 4.3 percent margin of error, it is a virtual tie.

The Democrats in Minnesota are so scared of Trump that they jumped on the trend of attempting to remove him from the ballot, citing the 14th Amendment. As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the state Supreme Court rejected the attempt by disgruntled leftists to remove the leading political candidate from the ballot before the Primary Election.

Voters can remember that the Black Lives Matter riots, encouraged by Democrats, in the summer of 2020 destroyed Minneapolis and black-owned businesses.

Recall that in 2019, a picture from then-Democrat Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook from 1984 surfaced showing two men, one in a KKK hood and robe and one in ‘blackface’ on the same page as Northam.

Eastern Virginia Medical School allowed students to personally choose photos for their yearbook page, so Ralph Northam chose to put the racist photo of himself in the yearbook.

Although Ralph Northam admitted to being in the racist photo, he did not reveal if he was the one dressed in blackface or the KKK robe.

“With respect to the photograph on Governor Northam’s personal page, we could not conclusively determine the identity of either individual depicted in the photograph,” Officials from Eastern Virginia Medical School said in a report. “No individual that we interviewed has told us from personal knowledge that the Governor is in the Photograph, and no individual with knowledge has come forward to us to report that the Governor is in the photograph.”

As expected, Virginia Democrat leadership defended Ralph Northam’s racist yearbook photo.

However, Joe Biden called for Northam to resign in 2019.

“There is no place for racism in America. Governor Northam has lost all moral authority and should resign immediately, Justin Fairfax is the leader Virginia needs now,” Biden said in 2019.

Now Northam is the face of the Biden campaign in Virginia.

On Thursday, the House Judiciary committee and House Oversight and Accountability committee voted to advance charges against Attorney General Merrick Garland for his refusal to turn over audio from President Joe Biden’s interview with the special counsel Robert Hur.

In October 2023, Hur sat down with President Biden to conduct a two-day interview about the president’s mishandling of classified documents. Hur concluded that, although Biden had indeed mishandled classified information, he ought not be charged in a court of law due to lack of proof to meet federal prosecution thresholds.

Although the transcript of Hur’s interview has been published along with a lengthy report, President Biden asserted executive privilege to block the committees from obtaining audio recordings of the interviews.

The White House counsel’s office notified House GOP investigators of this move only a few hours before Republicans were expected to recommend holding Garland in contempt of Congress for not handing over the audio. 

White House Counsel Ed Siskel defended Biden’s actions, writing in a letter to Republican House leaders: “The absence of a legitimate need for the audio recordings lays bare your likely goal—to chop them up, distort them, and use them for partisan political purposes.”

He continued, “Demanding such sensitive and constitutionally-protected law enforcement materials from the Executive Branch because you want to manipulate them for potential political gain is inappropriate.”

Garland himself told reporters at the Justice Department, “We have gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the committees get responses to their legitimate requests, but this is not one. To the contrary, this is one that would harm our ability in the future to successfully pursue sensitive investigations.”

Republicans like Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida contend that the tapes are necessary to proceed with their investigation.

Although he has insisted that Hur’s report mischaracterized his mental acuity, Biden’s secrecy surrounding the release of the raw audio throws his use of executive privilege into suspicion.

The latest distressing story hitting the news cycle is the horrid tale of the young, physically healthy Dutch woman who decided to be euthanized over her crippling depression.

It turns out that she has now been granted approval by the Dutch authorities to get help to end her life.

Officials in the Netherlands have given the final approval for young Zoraya ter Beek to die by assisted suicide.

The authorization was granted on the grounds of ‘unbearable mental suffering’.

New York Post reported:

“Ter Beek first applied for assisted suicide in 2020, following battles with depression and suicidal thoughts caused by difficulties in her early childhood.

The once-aspiring psychiatrist suffers from chronic depression, anxiety, trauma, borderline personality disorder and was diagnosed with autism.

Ter Beek believed that the safe environment her partner offered would help her mentally heal, but it didn’t and she reportedly continued to have suicidal thoughts and self-harmed.”

While many people are touched by her story, she did get her fair share of haters online. But ter Beek says she has thought about her decision throughout the years-long process.

“’In the three and a half years this has taken, I’ve never hesitated about my decision. I have felt guilt — I have a partner, family, friends and I’m not blind to their pain. And I’ve felt scared. But I’m absolutely determined to go through with it’, she said.”

The process seems legitimate from the outside: she was evaluated by a team of physicians, had a second opinion on her ‘eligibility’ to die, then the whole case has to be reviewed by a third independent doctor. But in the end, all these MDs were people with the mindset of the culture of death.

The young lady herself does not understand the difference between the reactions she got over it.

“People were saying: ‘Don’t do it, your life is precious.’ I know that. Others said they had a cure, like a special diet or drugs. Some told me to find Jesus or Allah, or told me I’d burn in hell. It was a total shitstorm. I couldn’t handle all the negativity.”

To say ‘your life is precious’ or ‘Find Jesus’ is hardly ‘negativity’ like, for example, ‘you will burn in hell.’ In the end, the ‘positivity’ Zoraya wants is people cheering her on to die. We will never do that.

She already has the Dutch state and government taking her by the hand to the great beyond.

Geert Wilders will have many other problems to tackle besides expelling illegal aliens from the Netherlands. The culture of Death has to be one of them.

Has been weaponized against President Donald Trump

Democrats long have claimed that President Donald Trump and his supporters are a “threat” to democracy.

But they’ve been unable to say how they’re a threat, except that if they were in the majority in Washington, that would mean that Democrats were not in the majority, and therefore away from the central positions of power.

But now an expert is warning that Joe Biden’s Department of Justice, with its weaponization of the nation’s justice system, actually is “a threat to the Republic.”

The comment comes from Gene Hamilton, a lawyer and official at the America First Legal Foundation.

His comments came during a hearing this week before the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which is exploring just how the Biden administration has turned the authorities of the government into arms of the Democrat party.

He said, “Prosecution and charging decisions are infused with racial and partisan political double standards. Immigration laws are ignored. The Federal Bureau of Investigation harasses protesting parents (branded ‘domestic terrorists’ by some partisans) while working diligently to shut down politically disfavored speech on the pretext of its being ‘misinformation’ or ‘disinformation.’

“A department that prosecutes numerous FACE Act cases while ignoring dozens of violent attacks on pregnancy care centers and/or the coordinated violation of laws that prohibit attempts to intimidate Supreme Court Justices by parading outside of their homes has clearly lost its way. A department that has twice engaged in covert domestic election interference and propaganda operations—the Russian collusion hoax in 2016 and the Hunter Biden laptop suppression in 2020—is a threat to the Republic.”

The organization explained, “The Biden administration—and most notably, the Department of Justice—appears to have embarked on a journey of political persecution of those with whom it disagrees, with the end result being the total social, economic, and political domination of the populace.”

According to HeadlineUSA, President Donald Trump now is facing “a myriad of legal troubles” but those attacks appear to be the operation of the DOJ under “the supervision of President Joe Biden.”

The report noted longtime New York attorney Robert J. Castillo, who has been “involved in many different types of cases.” But he said he’s never before encountered “the types of politically motivated cases that have been brought in this presidential election season. These political cases are being used as a weapon of war to damage, defeat or impede political adversaries and their allies.”

In fact, Biden’s appointees are prosecuting Trump for having papers from his presidency at home, but are not prosecuting Joe Biden for having documents from the Barack Obama administration in his home. They are prosecuting Trump for expressing his opinions about the 2020 election, but are not prosecuting Democrats who openly claimed the 2016 election was stolen. They are trying to convict Trump of felonies over misdemeanor bookkeeping violations in New York. And more.

There are four conditions for statehood; Palestine arguably meets one of them.

The most widely accepted definition of a sovereign nation is found in the Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States, which was adopted at the Seventh International Conference of American States in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1933. The Montevideo Convention lays out the criteria for statehood, including a defined territory, a permanent population, a government, and the capacity to enter into relations with other states. These criteria are widely accepted as the basic requirements for statehood in international law.

Defined Territory: The entity seeking statehood must have a clearly defined territory over which it exercises sovereignty. Palestine does not meet this criterion. The original mandate granted it the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem. However, these territories are not contiguous, and the Palestinians are demanding more territory, including the whole of Jerusalem. Hamas, moreover, wants all of Israel. Thus, there is no clearly defined territory for Palestine, and even the Palestinians have not agreed on what their territory should be.
Permanent Population: The entity must have a permanent population residing within its defined territory. This is the only criterion that Palestine more or less meets, as Gaza and the West Bank do have a permanent population. However, the phrase ‘within its defined territory’ suggests that the territory of Palestine would need to be clearly established first before it can be said to have a permanent population within that territory.
Government: The entity must have a functioning government capable of exercising control and authority over its territory and population. Palestine fails this test. Power in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank is divided among three entities: the Palestinian Authority, the terrorist organization Hamas, and the state of Israel. Generally, the Palestinian Authority exerts control over the West Bank, Hamas over Gaza, and Israel over both. Therefore, it cannot be said that Palestine has a functioning government.”
Capacity to Enter into Relations with Other States: The entity must possess the capacity to enter into relations with other states, indicating its independence and sovereignty. Palestine does not have the authority to enter into international agreements or treaties. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), previously designated as a terrorist organization, represents Palestine at international bodies but does not hold memberships or voting rights in those bodies. For example, the PLO has permanent observer status at the UN.

These criteria are widely recognized as the fundamental requirements for statehood in international law. Most countries and international organizations adhere to the principles laid out in the convention. Additionally, the criteria specified in the convention are commonly used by governments, legal scholars, and international bodies to determine the statehood of entities seeking recognition as sovereign states. Therefore, the definition provided by the Montevideo Convention is broadly accepted by the international community.

UN members recently voted to recognize Palestine. According to the UN Charter, “States are admitted to membership in the United Nations by a decision of the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council.” However, as a member of the Security Council, the US exercised its veto power, preventing Palestine’s admission.

The United Nations (UN) does not have an official definition of statehood, as it is not explicitly defined in the UN Charter. Instead, the UN generally follows the criteria outlined in the Montevideo Convention. Additionally, the UN has three more requirements for membership.

Peace-loving State: The applicant must be a peace-loving state that is able and willing to carry out the obligations contained in the United Nations Charter. The Hamas attacks on Israel, as well as numerous other attacks over the past decades, and the PLO attacks that date back even further, disqualify Palestine.
Recommendation by the Security Council: The application for membership must be recommended by the UN Security Council, requiring at least nine out of fifteen votes, including the concurring votes of all five permanent members (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China). Palestine failed this requirement due to a US veto.
Approval by the General Assembly: Following the Security Council’s recommendation, the application must be approved by a two-thirds majority in the UN General Assembly. Palestine passed this test in the recent UN vote. However, the veto power of the US overrode the vote.

In conclusion, Palestine is not a state. It meets possibly only one of the four criteria under the Montevideo Convention and one of the three criteria under the UN. Ultimately, the US can exercise its veto power. Pro-Palestine protestors need to read the requirements of statehood and understand that their outrage has been misguided.
