MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell Wants Biden’s Staff to be Allowed on Stage With Him at Debates (VIDEO)

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell thinks he has a solution to Joe Biden’s debate problems. Just allow Biden’s staff to be on stage with him during the debates.

To be clear, O’Donnell suggests that this is something that all candidates should do, even Trump, presumably. But we all know that O’Donnell is only saying this now because he thinks that Biden is the one who needs the help of other people to get through a debate.

It’s amazing that this is the sort of analysis that MSNBC viewers get on a regular basis.

Transcript via Real Clear Politics:

LAWRENCE O’DONNELL: Allow the candidates to have as many staff as they want, join them on the stage throughout the debate, and make sure that all of them have microphones, and the candidates should be allowed to turn to their staff and confer with them about anything at any time in the debate.

And we should be able to hear everything they say. So we can hear if the candidate has competent or incompetent staff, we could hear the candidate overrule some advisers and say something else.

We could watch the candidates actually think and process information, including including possibly information that they might not know until a staff member tells them or reminds them a candidate should be allowed to let staff members actually answer questions for them, just as the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken answers questions on behalf of the president around the world as has every Secretary of State in history.

That’s the way the presidency actually works. The presidency does not involve oral exams and memory quizzes. The president is allowed to forget what the marginal income tax rate is on couples filing jointly with an income of $150,000.

REPORT: Hakeem Jeffries Holding Meeting With Other Top Dems on Sunday to Discuss Joe Biden’s Campaign

House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries is reportedly meeting with other top Democrats on Sunday to discuss the future of Joe Biden’s presidential campaign following his awful interview on ABC News.

It’s a clear indication that there is major concern among Democrats in congress that Biden is going to drag down the ticket in November, possibly hurting the Democrats’ chances of regaining control of the House.

Biden has repeatedly vowed to stay in the race, so even if these Democrats appeal to him to drop out there is no guarantee that he is going to listen to them.

FOX News reports:

Top Dems planning meeting about Biden’s future despite president’s vows to continue campaign

Top Democratic congressional leaders are planning to hold a meeting to discuss President Biden’s fledgling re-election campaign, even as Biden himself has struck a defiant tone amid calls to drop out of the race.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., is leading a virtual meeting with top Democrats on Sunday, with leaders expected to discuss the path forward for Biden’s campaign, according to an NBC News report that has been confirmed by Fox News.

The meeting will feature Jeffries and top committee Democrats, a person familiar with the arrangement told Fox News, but will not be a meeting of the full Democratic caucus.

The meeting comes after Biden’s 22-minute interview with ABC News on Friday, which the Biden campaign hoped would ease fears that the president doesn’t have what it takes to continue the campaign and defeat former President Donald Trump in December. Instead, the interview set off a new round of fears among Democrats who were already concerned by Biden’s disastrous debate performance last week.

Axios has more:

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) is set to connect with his House committee leaders just before Congress returns to session for a conversation that is expected to touch on President Biden’s candidacy.

Why it matters: Next week could be a watershed moment for House Democrats, many of whom remain shaken by the president’s poor debate performance and convinced he cannot beat former President Trump.

– Lawmakers from across the party have told Axios they are hearing from donors, constituents and other stakeholders with grave concerns about Biden’s strength.

– Democrats in swing districts are doubly fearful the president could drag down their races as well, throwing the fight for Congress into doubt.

By Sunday night or Monday morning, it should be clear what these folks are trying to do. Will they call for Biden to drop out or stand by him?

Public Health Officials Warn of Human Plague Case in Colorado

Credit: Getty Images

The Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment (PDPHE), in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), is currently investigating a human case of plague based on preliminary test results.

The plague bacterium, known as Yersinia pestis, can be transmitted by fleas and wild rodents, such as prairie dogs, squirrels, rats, and rabbits.

According to the CDC, “Humans usually become infected through the bite of an infected rodent flea or by handling an infected animal. Plague can be cured with antibiotics, but these must be given promptly to prevent serious illness or death.”

Symptoms of plague include sudden fever and chills, severe headache, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and a general feeling of illness. Swollen lymph nodes with pain are also a common symptom.

Plague can manifest in three forms: Bubonic plague infects your lymph nodes, septicemic plague is in your blood and pneumonic plague affects your lungs. Health officials did not specify which form the case in Pueblo County was.

Alicia Solis, program manager of the Office of Communicable Disease and Emergency Preparedness at PDPHE, advises individuals to take precautions to protect themselves and their pets from plague.

Solis advised the public on how to protect themselves and their pets from the plague:

Eliminate places that rodents can hide and breed around your home, garage, shed or recreation area. Remove brush, rock piles, trash, and piles of lumber.
Avoid contact with dead animals. If you must handle sick or dead animals follow these guidelines. First, put on an insect repellant to protect yourself from fleas. Then use a long-handled shovel to place it in a garbage bag. Lastly, place the bag in an outdoor garbage can.
Use insect repellent that contains 20%-30% DEET to prevent flea bites. Treat pants, socks, shoe tops, arms, and legs.
Do not let pets sleep in bed with you.
Treat dogs and cats for fleas regularly. Flea collars have not been proven effective.
Do not allow pets to hunt or roam in rodent areas, such as prairie dog colonies.
Keep pet food in rodent-proof containers.

“If you develop symptoms of plague, see a health care provider immediately. Plague can be treated successfully with antibiotics, but an infected person must be treated promptly to avoid serious complications or death,” said Alicia Solis.

Joe Biden’s Upcoming Fundraiser in Wisconsin Cancelled – Donors Who Committed to Giving Large Sums Withdrew After First Debate

Joe Biden sat down with George Stephanopoulos on Friday for an in depth interview following his predictable mental collapse during the first 2024 presidential debate against President Donald Trump.

During their conversation, Stephanopoulos asked Biden if he had reviewed the debate following his public drubbing.

Joe Biden answered, “I don’t remember.”

This ABC interview was supposed to shut down talk of Biden’s decline

It was one of his only honest answers during his sitdown with the ABC News Democrat operative.

Since the debate, suddenly the Democrats and their faithful media lapdogs are worried about Joe’s dementia. They haven’t said anything about for several years but now it is an issue since the whole world knows Joe Biden is out to lunch and that the legacy media has been carrying his water.

On Saturday, The New York Times reported that a Wisconsin fundraiser for Joe Biden has been cancelled.

The New York Times reported:

Some of President Biden’s fund-raising events in the coming weeks are in jeopardy, with one potential Wisconsin event failing to materialize and a Texas event up in the air after his poor debate performance against Donald J. Trump.

Mr. Biden’s fund-raising schedule is often fluid, as the White House and the campaign juggle the complicated logistics of official events with the competing demands of donors and finance operatives. But the aftermath of his debate performance has added an additional layer of uncertainty, with a growing group of major donors calling on Mr. Biden to drop his re-election campaign and make way for a replacement at the top of the ticket.

The Biden campaign had discussed sending Mr. Biden to Wisconsin for a late July fund-raiser, according to three people briefed on the plans. But donors who had committed to giving large sums and attending began withdrawing soon after the debate ended.

The campaign had hoped to raise $1 million from the event, but after the debate, campaign officials reset the event’s goal to $500,000, according to one person involved in arranging it. Even that proved to be more than Wisconsin donors were willing to give to Mr. Biden. Plans for the event are now off.

OOF! Former Obama Adviser David Axelrod Calls Biden’s ABC Interview ‘Sad’ and Says He is ‘Dangerously Out of Touch’ (VIDEO)

Former Obama adviser David Axelrod appeared on CNN this weekend to offer his assessment of Biden’s interview on CNN and it was pretty brutal.

He called the interview ‘sad’ and suggested that Biden is dangerously out of touch. He also concurred with many other people who have said that the interview did nothing to calm the nerves of Democrat voters.

This has to sting the Biden White House because David Axelrod worked closely with Biden in the Obama administration.

The Hill reports:

Axelrod post-interview: Biden ‘dangerously out of touch’ with voter concerns

Democratic strategist David Axelrod warned that President Biden is “dangerously out of touch” with voters on the issue of his age and health following Biden’s highly anticipated sit-down interview on ABC News.

“The president is rightfully proud of his record. But he is dangerously out-of-touch with the concerns people have about his capacities moving forward and his standing in this race,” Axelrod wrote in a post on the social platform X. “Years ago at this time, he was 10 points ahead of Trump. Today, he is six points behind.”

Axelrod’s comments came shortly after Biden’s full interview with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos aired Friday evening. The interview was the first since Biden’s widely panned debate performance against former President Trump last week.

Throughout the interview, Biden described that debate performance as “a bad night.”

The writing is on the wall.

You know when diehard Dem Axelrod starts trash talking Biden, the campaign its over.

Axe is so great at this.

Instead of picking on Biden, he turns it back on the faceless advisors who are clearly shielding Biden from reality.

He is making it clear Jill Biden and the Biden inner circle will become persona non grata if they allow this to continue.

Will Obama be the next person to say something like this?

Gavin Newsom’s Paradise: Elderly Wife Attacked, Run Over, Murdered in Front of Husband at Public Mall

If President Joe Biden is taken off the top of the presidential ballot and replaced with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, there are two names that should play a prominent part in the 2024 campaign: Patricia McKay and Will O’Neill.

McKay, 68, was a New Zealand woman and tourist who was killed in broad daylight outside of a mall in Orange County, California on Tuesday, allegedly by a group of armed robbers who shot at her and then killed her by running her over with their car.

O’Neill is the Republican mayor of the city where she was killed. However, he reminded everyone that this was what was happening in “every community.”

That much is true — at least in the state of California, where violent and property crime are both up.

According to KCAL-TV, the Newport Police Department said the killing took place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach.

McKay and her husband, both from New Zealand, were robbed outside the mall’s Barnes & Noble by two men. The U.K.’s Daily Mail reported there was a “struggle” between the couple and attackers, with one of them firing several rounds from his handgun.

“The woman was then dragged into the parking lot as the two men got into a Toyota Camry being driven by a third man,” the outlet reported.

“The suspects then ran over McKay as they drove away from the scene, firing shots as they led the police on a high-speed chase, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Oberon told DailyMail.com.”

The suspects hit speeds of upwards of 110mph while on the 105 Freeway, it was reported. The Camry later left the freeway, with the suspects fleeing into a neighborhood in nearby South Gate, California.

All three suspects were apprehended, including one that was found behind a trash can at a house.

KABC-TV reported the suspects were identified as Jaden Cunningham, 18, of Lancaster, Malachi Eddward Darnell, 18, of Los Angeles, and Leroyernest Joseph McCrary, 26, of Compton, who were in custody as of Wednesday.

The three men have been booked on suspicion of homicide, robbery with firearm, and conspiracy, the outlet noted.

“One of the suspects ran while the vehicle fled and actually struck the female victim,” said Officer Steve Oberon, a spokesman for the Newport Beach Police Department.

“The male suspect that ran got back into the vehicle, at which point some rounds were fired from a handgun and the vehicle fled the scene.”

No one was hit by the rounds, meaning the cause of death was almost certainly the fact McKay had been run over.

The woman’s husband was not believed to have sustained injuries, Oberon added. He called the death “a shock,” the Daily Mail reported.

“It just doesn’t happen normally here,” he said.

Witnesses and those on the scene were equally stunned that it happened in their town.

“I expected to go and fix my sunglasses,” Fashion Island shopper Rachel West said, KCAL reported. “I didn’t know that there was going to be a crime scene and dead body when I got here.”

However, a “furious” Mayor Will O’Neill decried the attack as something that was becoming more and more common.

“I’m horrified. I’m mourning the loss of someone who died inside of our city because of crime,” he said. “This is a tragedy, and I’m furious.

“Newport Beach is a safe community and we’re mourning the loss of someone,” he continued, per the Daily Mail. “Frankly, to hell with these guys. … These are thugs. Every community is now dealing with this. We have to do better as a society. We cannot tolerate this.”

The fact is, California does tolerate this, though. This is Gavin Newsom’s state, the Democratic Party’s playground for new ideas. It’s worth noting that, as violent and property crime escalate, the state’s Democrats were looking to further defund the prison system to fix the state’s budget gap.

Los Angeles and San Francisco are practically reels from horror movies, and other urban areas in the state are little better. The state has some of the strictest gun laws in America, yet the news didn’t get through to these armed robbers — or, at the very least, it didn’t stop them from having a handgun.

This is Gavin Newsom’s California. And, if he ever becomes president, it’s his model for a country. If Patricia McKay and Will O’Neill don’t sound enough of an alarm, I don’t know what will.

Feds Want Migratory Bird Treaty Exemption to Call in and Eradicate American Owls

A federal agency is seeking an exemption to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act to lure and eradicate owl populations.

The proposed strategy from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is part of an effort to reverse the decline of northern and California spotted owls. These threatened birds’ West Coast habitat, stretching from California to Washington state, is currently being invaded by a feathered cousin — the North American barred owl.

The barred owl is common in the eastern half of the United States and southeastern Canada, but its range has expanded into the far west. where the government considers it invasive.

The FWS released a final impact statement Wednesday, outlining the agency’s proposed strategy to lure and kill the “invasive” owls in these areas.

According to the news release, the cull “would result in the annual removal of less than one-half of 1 percent of the current North American barred owl population.”

“If the proposed strategy is adopted and fully implemented,” the release later continues, “lethal removal of barred owls by trained professionals would occur in less than half of the areas where spotted and invasive barred owls co-exist within the northern spotted owl’s range; and would limit their invasion into the California spotted owl’s range.”

The proposal listed the ways this great American bird may be killed.

“Barred owls will be lured to the removal specialist using an amplified megaphone, or similar device, to broadcast digitally recorded barred owl calls, alternating with listening for responses,” the FWS proposal states.

Shotguns of 20 gauge or larger are permitted for this cull, with the FWS suggesting the guns be fitted with night sights or other low-light optics. Shots must be taken to ensure a certain kill.

“All shots must be directed at barred owls which are stationary on an unobstructed perch and present a full, frontal and unobstructed view,” the proposal reads. “On-the-wing shots are not authorized under this protocol.”

According to the FWS, the barred owl’s westward movement began in the early 20th century.

The agency blamed human-induced changes as the likely catalyst forcing barred owls to expand their native range. The birds now outnumber the threatened spotted owls in many areas where the ranges overlap.

“Barred owl management is not about one owl versus another,” FWS Oregon Office supervisor Kessina Lee said.

“Without actively managing barred owls, northern spotted owls will likely go extinct in all or the majority of their range, despite decades of collaborative conservation efforts.”

Lee said the cull is not being taken lightly, but is a legitimate measure to safeguard other birds.

“The service has a legal responsibility to do all it can to prevent the extinction of the federally listed northern spotted owl and support its recovery, while also addressing significant threats to California spotted owls,” Lee said.

A decision is expected at least 30 days after the impact study’s publication in the Federal Register.

Barred owls are among the many bird species protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

NBA BRAWL: Evan Fournier Chokes Dennis Schroder During France-Germany Match

Evan Fournier

An uncivil incident broke out between two NBA players during international play.

As France defeated Germany 90-66 on Saturday, Evan Fournier and Dennis Schroder had to be separated following a violent altercation.

The New York Post reports,

Schroder demonstratively approached Fournier after the latter fouled him, putting his hands on Fournier’s shoulder area.

Fournier, a polarizing ex-Knick, then choked Schroder with both hands before teammates and referees separated them.

Fournier was subsequently ejected.

The two players did appear to speak and make up on the court, however.

In February, Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Ryan Arcidiacono, and two second-round picks were traded from the Knicks to the Pistons for Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.

Having left New York and feeling constrained by the team’s status, Fournier expressed relief at having new opportunities.

“I’m still in New York at the moment,” Fournier said at the time. “I want to leave. But beyond leaving, I want to have the opportunity to get some playing time back. That’s all. That’s mostly it. Because in New York, I feel extremely good. I love living there, I love the franchise, I love playing at Madison [Square Garden], I love the guys on the team.

“So I just want to play, that’s all. It’s true that finding another club, changing franchises, if that’s what you have to do to play again, that’s what I would like to do.”

Schroder, 30, is getting ready for his second season with the Nets.

Last year, the Nets acquired him along with Thaddeus Young in a trade that sent Spencer Dinwiddie to a different team.

Ever since joining Brooklyn, Schroder has averaged 14.6 points and 6.0 assists per game over 29 games.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico Makes First Public Appearance Since Assassination Attempt, Blasts Liberals and Supports Orbán’s Peace Initiative

Almost two months after suffering an assassination attempt, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico still suffers from frail health – but, in his first public appearance, he showed that his spirit is still fiery strong, as he delivered a speech slamming liberal ideologies and supporting Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán’s peace initiative.

Reuters reported:

“Fico, who is recovering after being shot four times at close range in mid-May, made his appearance at an evening ceremony marking Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, a public holiday in Slovakia. He spoke standing at a podium at a castle ruins dating back over 11 centuries.

Fico, a four-time leftist prime minister who returned to power after winning an election last September, was shot when he greeted supporters at a government meeting in the central Slovak town of Handlova, leaving him needing hours of surgery. He has been recovering at home since the end of May.”

Fico was shot four times by an opposition militant.

Fico is leading a leftist but nationalist government, and after it stopped state military aid to Ukraine, it became a target for the Globalist and ultra-liberal European Union, with their usual warnings against ‘threats to rule of law and media freedoms’.

“Fico on Friday hit back against progressive and liberal ideologies he said were “spreading like cancer” and hurting the country. ‘I don’t want Slovakia to be among the countries that make a caricature of Western civilization’, he said.”

Robert Fico blasted Liberalism, supported Orbán’s peace initiative.

Fico has called his attacker an opposition activist but said manifested no hatred toward him and said he would not seek damages.

Prosecutors have just upgraded the charges against his attacker Juraj C. to a ‘terrorist attack’.

Fico is criticized for being pro-Russia and having his foreign minister meet his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

But his closer relationship appears to be with Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán.

“Fico, in his first live speech since the attack, reiterated a call for peace talks in the Ukraine-Russia conflict and said he would have joined Orbán on his visit to Moscow if health allowed.

‘There are not enough, I repeat, not enough peace talks, peace initiatives’, Fico said.”

Liberal Pollster Nate Silver Gives Biden 28 Percent Chance of Winning, Admits That is ‘Probably Too Optimistic’

The liberal pollster Nate Silver is putting Joe Biden’s chances of winning back the presidency as low as 28 percent following his disastrous debate performance last month.

Silver, the creator of FiveThirtyEight who cemented his reputation as one of the country’s leading pollsters after correctly predicting 49 out of 50 states in the 2008 presidential election and all 50 states in the 2012 presidential election, wrote in his Substack that Biden’s chances of coming out victorious are decreasing by the day.

He explained:

If Biden does drop out, the model should work fine: we’ll wait what I’m guessing will be about two weeks until there’s enough polling to benchmark how his replacement is faring, and then turn it back on. (Although I’m sure it would get a lot of clicks, I’d think it would be pretty irresponsible to publish a forecast of an alternative candidate’s prospects before then.

In some ways, though, I’m less worried about what our model would assume about, say, Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee — and more worried about whether it’s appropriately handling Biden.

…

Even though Biden’s chances have fallen considerably in our forecast — to 28 percent now from 35 percent before the debate — it’s still probably too optimistic. He likely isn’t capable of providing the sort of performance he needs to fully realize his chances of a comeback.

However, Silver has not always got his predictions in right. Back in 2016, he gave Hillary Clinton a 72 precent chance of winning the presidential election and projected that Donald Trump would win just 236 electoral votes.

Needless to say, he was pretty wide of the mark.
