The current head of the IRS made an eyebrow-raising decision after the agency made a bold move to bolster President Trump’s deportation efforts.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have reached a deal to aid in the deportation efforts of illegal aliens.

The agreement will allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to access taxpayer information to locate illegals subject to deportation. Moreover, the IRS can hand over information about invaders already facing deportation orders and under federal criminal investigation.

The deal also states that ICE can now submit names and request address confirmations for illegals who have been ordered removed but have overstayed past the 90-day mark.

However, acting IRS commissioner Melanie Krause was angered over making it easier to deport criminal invaders and decided to fall on her sword. As CNN reported, Krause informed her staff Tuesday she is leaving the agency.

A source confirmed to CNN that the data sharing agreement between ICE and DHS was a key factor that led to Krause’s decision to resign. The source claimed that the final draft of the deal that the now-former IRS commissioner had been involved with and reviewed differed from the final agreement.

CNN added that Krause learned about the details of the final agreement from the news.

The outlet notes that Krause wanted to leave for other reasons, including worries over the IRS’s direction. But the new data-sharing agreement appeared to be the final straw.

A Treasury Department spokesperson released the following statement in response to Krause’s sudden resignation:

Melanie Krause has been leading the IRS through a time of extraordinary change. As we focus on IT modernization and re-organize the agency to better serve the taxpayer, we are also in the midst of breaking down data silos that for too long have stood in the way of identifying waste, fraud, and abuse and bringing criminals to justice.

We believe these goals are critical to a more efficient government and safer country. We wish Melanie well on her next endeavor.

Krause’s retirement marks the third departure this year by an IRS commissioner. The Gateway Pundit previously reported then-acting commissioner Doug O’Donnell retired in February amid TRump’s crackdown on the deep state bureaucracy.

O’Donnell had assumed the role on an interim basis following the resignation of IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel, who stepped down in January after President Trump took office.

Communist China has retaliated against President Donald Trump’s latest round of America-first tariffs by imposing a staggering 84% levy on U.S. imports, up from 34%.

The move, announced by Beijing’s State Council Tariff Commission, is a direct response to the Trump administration’s bold decision to raise tariffs on Chinese goods to over 104% in defense of American workers and industries.

The Chinese regime, notorious for its predatory trade practices and flagrant theft of U.S. intellectual property, lashed out with typical propaganda, accusing the U.S. of “unilateralism, protectionism, and economic bullying.”

This is from a government that has spent decades rigging global trade in its favor, flooding markets with cheap, subsidized goods, and exploiting weak American leadership—until now.

According to the translated statement:

“On April 8, 2025, the US government announced that it would increase the “reciprocal tariff” on Chinese goods exported to the US from 34% to 84%.

The US’s practice of escalating tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake, which seriously infringes on China’s legitimate rights and interests, seriously damages the rules-based multilateral trading system, and seriously impacts the stability of the global economic order. It is a typical example of unilateralism, protectionism, and economic bullying.

In accordance with the Tariff Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China and other laws and regulations and the basic principles of international law, and with the approval of the State Council, the State Council Tariff Commission announced that from 12:01 on April 10, 2025, the tariff rate specified in the Announcement of the State Council Tariff Commission on Imposing Additional Tariffs on Imports Originating in the United States (Tariff Commission Announcement No. 4 of 2025) will be adjusted from 34% to 84%. Other matters shall be implemented in accordance with the Announcement No. 4 of 2025 of the Tariff Commission.

China urges the US to immediately correct its wrong practices, cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China, and properly resolve differences with China through equal dialogue on the basis of mutual respect.”

“It’s unfortunate that the Chinese actually don’t want to come and negotiate, because they are the worst offenders in the international trading system,” U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox Business Wednesday.

“They have the most imbalanced economy in the history of the modern world, and I can tell you that this escalation is a loser for them.”

It can be recalled that Trump unleashed a devastating 104% tariff on Communist China this Wednesday after Beijing ignored his “12 o’clock” deadline to lift its retaliatory tariffs.

This tariff comprises a pre-existing 20% duty, a 34% reciprocal levy, and an additional 50% retaliatory tariff imposed by the U.S. in response to China’s earlier tariffs on American goods.

Attorney Ty Clevenger has filed a motion in federal court to hold the FBI in contempt for what he calls a “deliberate and willful defiance” of a court order mandating the release of key information related to murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich.

The filing, made on behalf of Texas plaintiff Brian Huddleston, alleges the FBI has systematically concealed records from Rich’s personal and work laptops, obstructing transparency and ignoring clear directives from the court.

“This afternoon we asked the U.S. District Court in Sherman, Texas to hold the FBI in contempt of court for systematically violating the court’s orders to produce records about Seth Rich,” said attorney Ty Clevenger on Tuesday.

“If there is nothing to hide, and Seth died in a “botched robbery,” then why has the FBI gone so far as to commit crimes in order to conceal the evidence? After all, the FBI already has admitted that there is a link between Seth’s work laptop and the 2016 “hack” of the DNC, purportedly by Russian intelligence agents.

“If Mueller and Durham told us the whole story about the Russia hoax, then why is the FBI still fighting so hard to hide the facts? The URL below links to our motion. It speaks for itself,” he concluded.

According to the motion filed on April 8 in the Eastern District of Texas, the FBI failed to comply with Judge Amos Mazzant’s August 2024 order which required the agency to conduct a full “document-by-document review” of devices in its possession. Instead, the FBI is accused of providing incomplete and misleading Vaughn indexes — legally required inventories explaining why documents are withheld — that omitted key files, metadata, and even entire sets of records.

Worse, Clevenger argues, the FBI knowingly reasserted privacy exemptions for Seth Rich that Judge Mazzant had explicitly rejected in 2022.

These exemptions were rubber-stamped across every single record in an apparent effort to stonewall the court and the public from learning what really happened to Rich — whose 2016 murder remains unsolved and has long been the subject of intense scrutiny due to his alleged connections to leaked DNC emails published by WikiLeaks.

“The FBI’s defiance, obfuscations, and delays will continue unabated so long as its senior FBI personnel think they can get away with it,” Clevenger warns in the filing.

Among the most damning revelations is the agency’s refusal to confirm whether it actually reviewed Seth Rich’s physical work laptop — as ordered — or merely examined an image created by an “outside entity,” believed to be affiliated with the Democratic National Committee or its law firm, Perkins Coie.

Moreover, metadata — crucial digital fingerprints that could potentially show if Rich was the source of the 2016 WikiLeaks leaks — was neither produced nor accounted for. That’s despite a court order demanding its disclosure and repeated warnings from Clevenger that metadata could settle the issue once and for all.

The filing also reveals that while the FBI previously estimated there would be roughly 400,000 records on Rich’s personal laptop, it accounted for only 1,297. A technical expert supporting Huddleston noted that even a brand-new Windows laptop would have more than 100,000 files — meaning the FBI’s production was “laughably incomplete.”

In some cases, documents were bizarrely described as “Editorial Cartoons,” “Video Game Notes,” “Groupon Certificates,” and even a “Birthday Party Menu” — all flagged as law enforcement-sensitive or privacy-invading, despite dating years before Rich’s death.

This is not the first time the FBI has tried to bury the Seth Rich story. The agency initially denied having any records at all before being forced to admit otherwise. Now, Clevenger is demanding an evidentiary hearing, the appointment of a special master to oversee the review, and even contempt charges against top FBI FOIA official Michael Seidel and others who may have participated in the agency’s disobedience.

Clevenger has requested the court order the FBI to turn over all internal emails, chats, and notes related to its handling of the Seth Rich FOIA request, particularly any discussion surrounding compliance with the judge’s order. He’s also seeking full reimbursement of legal fees and costs.

The failed socialist state of Venezuela may seem like an unlikely candidate for invading the United States, yet leaked documents suggest that this is exactly what happened.

Television host and independent reporter Emerald Robinson obtained documents that she posted on her Substack about Tren de Aragua and its links to Nicolas Maduro’s criminal regime.

Immediately after taking office, Trump designated Tren de Aragua as a foreign terrorist organization.

His executive order stated:

Over the years, Venezuelan national and local authorities have ceded ever-greater control over their territories to transnational criminal organizations, including TdA.

The result is a hybrid criminal state that is perpetrating an invasion of and predatory incursion into the United States, and which poses a substantial danger to the United States.

Ostensibly, the gang is known as a criminal organization from Venezuela  known for brutal violence and international drug trafficking.

However, Robinson obtained a leaked security briefing provided to Trump officials in recent months about the Maduro regime’s closeness to Tren de Aragua.

What thse documents show is that Tren de Aragua is not just a criminal organization, but a paramilitary wing of Venezuela’s communist regime.

Robinson explains:

According to the briefing, the TdA members move from Venezuela through several foreign nations before entering the USA illegally and being spread out in safe houses in 20 different cities.

For what reason? TdA members have come to the USA in large numbers to undermine our public safety and support “the Maduro regime’s goal of destabilizing democratic nations in the Americas, including the USA.”

How do you know it’s a hostile foreign army? Because TdA terrorists are supported by 300 military intelligence officers who train them to engage in “riots, sabotage, disinformation, espionage, social conflict, and armed aggression” inside the USA.

The chief of these 300 military intelligence officers is a member of the largest cartel in the world (Cártel de los Soles) and he’s the link between them and the smaller cartels and the Maduro regime.

These are the officers in charge of training — according to the leaked briefing.

This means that when the Biden regime opened its borders to over ten million people, it was knowingly permitting the entry of agents and soldiers from the Venezuelan regime and thus allowing them to pursue their goals of undermining the U.S. from the inside.

Despite this obvious foreign invasion, Democrats and leftists are crying about the deportation of Tren de Aragua agents who have been sent to the notorious CECOT prison facility in El Salvador.

Had Kamala Harris been granted a four-year term in the White House, Tren de Aragua would not only have carried on terrorizing local communities but would also have further expanded its operations and expanded great influence on American social and political life.

Democrats are up in arms, accusing President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) of gutting drug research funding.

Social media is flooded with dramatic claims—photos of sick children, stories of desperate patients—each suggesting that Trump has cut off their last hope. The truth, however, is far less dramatic.

The Trump administration has indeed pushed aggressive cost-cutting across federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which funds a large share of America’s drug research. But contrary to the headlines, there’s no blanket halt on medical research—far from it.

Studies continue under other federal programs and through robust private funding, supporting everything from cancer breakthroughs to rare disease therapies.

What the administration has done is implement targeted policies—like capping overhead costs and temporarily pausing some grant reviews—that have caused confusion, delays, and loud complaints from researchers and critics, but they haven’t shut down research altogether.

Here’s the real story: In February 2025, the NIH proposed capping “indirect costs”—expenses like lab maintenance and utilities—at 15%, down from the usual 27–30%.

That move would cut about $4 billion annually from the $9 billion typically allocated for such costs within the NIH’s $35 billion grant budget (based on 2023 figures, adjusted slightly for 2025).

Universities and hospitals quickly sounded the alarm, warning of layoffs and stalled projects. Then, on March 5, 2025, a federal judge in Boston issued a nationwide injunction, blocking the cuts after 22 Democratic-led states and research groups filed suit, citing bipartisan legislation that protects NIH funding.

As of April 3, the proposed cap remains tied up in court—no reductions have taken effect.

Meanwhile, shortly after Trump’s inauguration, the NIH temporarily froze most grant-review meetings, stalling roughly $1.5 billion in new research funding (Nature, February 2025).

This wasn’t a budget cut—it was a bureaucratic slowdown triggered by new oversight protocols.

Legal pressure in late February forced the NIH to resume some application processes, though delays have continued, affecting research timelines—not overall funding.

Then, on March 27, NPR reported that the administration cut $11.4 billion in COVID-era addiction and mental health grants, including funding for drug development initiatives like fentanyl overdose treatments.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the cuts reflect a policy shift toward tackling chronic diseases. Again, these were specific program cuts—not a sweeping attack on drug research.

The rollback affected certain mental health drug trials and overdose countermeasure efforts, but it didn’t touch the NIH’s core operations.

Likewise, the earlier grant freeze delayed new research—from cancer to Alzheimer’s therapies—but these were setbacks, not cancellations.

And the proposed 15% cap on overhead spending, which would have reduced lab budgets, remains frozen. So far, none of these changes have taken effect.

In the meantime, drug research continues at full speed. The NIH’s $47 billion budget for FY 2025—including $7.2 billion for the National Cancer Institute and $2.2 billion for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)—remains intact.

Only indirect cost cuts were on the table, and even those are on hold.

Private and state efforts are also bridging any potential gaps. Drug companies like Pfizer, Novartis, and Vertex continue advancing treatments for rare diseases such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), and cystic fibrosis, often in partnership with NIH.

Nonprofits like the Alzheimer’s Association contribute over $100 million annually to drug development, helping bring treatments like Beqvez and Nexviazyme to market.

States such as California and institutions like Duke University are also using their own funds to keep research momentum going.

Private companies remain motivated to fund drug development because of the clear financial incentive—new treatments can generate enormous profits.

While life-saving drugs are undeniably a public good, this profit-driven model raises difficult questions: How much public money should go toward research for drugs that will ultimately be patented and sold back to the public at high prices?

The government often provides the early-stage funding, assuming the risk, while the financial rewards accrue largely to private firms.

It’s a long-standing tension in American health policy—but it’s not unique to the Trump administration, nor is it evidence that drug research has been abandoned.

In short, drug research is still being funded—by both public and private sources.

The NIH remains the world’s largest public backer of biomedical research. Its $35 billion grant pool (adjusted for 2025) continues flowing into projects across the spectrum, from cancer to rare diseases.

With the indirect cost cap blocked and grant reviews resuming, most government-funded research remains fully operational.

The Gateway Pundit and Behind Enemy Lines podcast were among the first to report on the presence of Tren de Aragua – a transnational criminal gang out of Venezuela – in the Second City.

In February of 2024, The Gateway Pundit reported on potential Tren de Aragua gang members showing up in the Chicago suburbs. At the time, Mayor Brandon Johnson instructed Chicago law enforcement to impound buses of illegals heading into Chicago from the Texas border.

A recent FOIA response obtained by Terry Newsome of Behind Enemy Lines podcast shows 184 pages of arrests of suspected Tren de Aragua gang members. This FOIA specifically requested any arrests associated with Tren de Aragua gang members between the timeframe of February 1st, 2023 – February 15th, 2025.

The crimes run the gamut, including driving without a license or registration, assault, battery, fake social security card, possession of crack cocaine, possession of cannabis, assault with a knife, retail theft, and armed robbery with a machine gun.

There are a few stolen vehicle reports. What’s interesting however, is most of these cases involve a traffic stop for either a fake temporary registration tag or license plates and no valid driver’s license. With the overwhelming majority of cases citing invalid registration or driving without a valid license, the question becomes where are these illegal aliens getting their vehicles if they are not stolen?

While it may be harder to tell how these illegals are obtaining vehicles, there appears to be a history of documentation counterfeiting for illegal aliens. It has long been a coordinated effort. As the FOIA documents show, one illegal had a fake Social Security card on his person.

The fake documentation is concerning. There has long been an incentivization for employers to hire non-citizens because they provide cheap labor. However, this cheap labor prices many Americans out of jobs. A Center for Immigration Studies  article documents this very practice which was apprehended by ICE.

“…during an April 2008 raid at Pilgrim’s Pride meat packing plants, more than 280 employees at facilities in five states were arrested on suspicion of committing identity theft and other criminal violations in order to obtain jobs.”

What’s more, Illinois has seen a legislative assault on the American worker in recent years. Several bills have been signed into law protecting illegals from accountability and shielding them from the efforts of deportation by ICE.

For example, Public Act 103-0232  amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to make it a human rights violation for anyone in a real estate transaction to discriminate based on immigration status. Another bill, HB3882 , allows illegals to obtain IDs or driver’s licenses indistinguishable from that of citizens.

Public Act 103-1063 allows illegals to change their name after three months residency instead of the previous threshold of six months. It also allows the person to impound their file to be hidden from public record and allows their address to be omitted from court documents.

Shockingly, SB0508  amends the E-Verify process in Illinois. This bill forces an employer to not impose eligibility verifications outside of those required by federal law. It also imposes responsibilities on the employer to notify the worker of deficient documentation. The employer must give the worker specific time frames to correct documentation. The worker has rights to have “representation,” and the employer must provide 72 hours’ notice of any employment eligibility inspections.

The effort by Illinois Democrats is an obvious attempt to protect illegal aliens at the expense of the Illinois taxpayer and worker. Further complicating the situation is the Safe-T Act. This law was passed in the dead of night in 2022. It protects all criminals in Illinois from accountability through the introduction of cashless bail. In combination with the assault weapons ban, a perfect storm for complete Socialist chaos has hit the Prairie State. As indicated in the FOIA documents the assault weapons ban did not prevent a Tren de Aragua illegal immigrant from obtaining a “machine gun” used in a robbery.

In the below clip, Terry Newsome notes the inconsistency in Mayor Brandon Johnson’s testimony before Congress when Johnson repeatedly says he complies with Federal law. Newsome notes that while Marijuana is legal to sell in the State of Illinois, the selling of Marijuana remains illegal at the Federal level. Further, Newsome references Representative Anna Paulina Luna’s criminal referral to the Attorney General previously reported on by The Gateway Pundit.

In Illinois, majority Democrat rule has led to the prioritization of illegal aliens and an intentional exacerbation of criminal activity. In addition, civil rights are being violated with the removal of Second Amendment protections.

The evidence shows that the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago have opened the door to a transnational criminal gang. Furthermore, they’ve created legislation to protect them from detection by Federal Law Enforcement.

The question for Illinoisans becomes: What is the tipping point for change?

Vice President J.D. Vance slammed former Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for voting against President Trump’s pick for a top Pentagon role.

McConnell was the sole Republican to oppose Elbridge Colby’s nomination for the Pentagon’s undersecretary of policy position, the third-highest position in the Defense Department.

Posting on the X platform, Vance denounced McConnell’s act of “political pettiness.”

“Mitch’s vote today—like so much of the last few years of his career—is one of the great acts of political pettiness I’ve ever seen,” Vance wrote.

In his statement justifying the vote, McConnell criticized Colby’s previous remarks advocating a shift in U.S. national security priorities toward the Indo-Pacific at the expense of other regions.

“The prioritization that Mr. Colby argues is fresh, new, and urgently needed is, in fact, a return to an Obama-era conception of a la carte geostrategy,” he wrote.

”Abandoning Ukraine and Europe and downplaying the Middle East to prioritize the Indo-Pacific is not a clever geopolitical chess move.”

“It is geostrategic self-harm that emboldens our adversaries and drives wedges between America and our allies for them to exploit,” he continued.

The former Senate Majority Leader also voted against the confirmations of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Yet his intervention on Tuesday once again made little difference after Colby was approved by a 54-45 vote after three Democrats voted with otherwise unified Republicans.

McConnell will be retiring from the Senate at the end of his term in 2026.

However, there has been speculation that due to a series of recent health scares, he may be forced to step down before his term ends.

While hoping he remains in reasonable health, his departure from the U.S. Senate cannot come soon enough.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that his administration will soon impose major tariffs on foreign-made pharmaceuticals, forcing drug companies to bring their operations back to U.S. soil where they belong.

Speaking at a National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) dinner, the president delivered a fiery message to Big Pharma: Return to America or pay the price.

For years, Big Pharma has been shipping jobs overseas, cutting costs while American families pay the price.

President Trump’s proposed tariffs promise to flip that script. With most pharmaceutical companies relying heavily on the U.S. market for profit, Trump is betting they’ll have no choice but to bring manufacturing home, creating jobs and ending dependence on hostile foreign nations like China.

Trump:
“We’re going to do something that we have to do: we’re going to tariff our pharmaceuticals. And once we do that, they’re going to come rushing back into our country, because we’re the big market. The advantage we have over everybody is that we’re the big market.

So, we’re going to be announcing very shortly a major tariff on pharmaceuticals. And when they hear that, they will leave China. They will leave other places, because they have to sell — most of their product is sold here — and they’re going to be opening up their plants all over the place in our country.

We’re going to be announcing that. So, that’s breaking news.

That’s what’s going to happen. What other presidents allowed China to get away with is absolutely criminal. But I’m not like the other presidents — and it’s not going to happen under President Trump. It’s just not going to happen.”

Trump exempted pharmaceuticals from the big round of reciprocal tariffs he announced last week, but has been suggesting for months that the drug industry will be targeted.

In one exchange with reporters in February, the president said tariffs on imported drugs would likely start around 25% and could climb higher.

Trump also claimed Tuesday that tariffs will benefit Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections. The tariffs have roiled the stock market and heightened concerns about an economic downturn, which could be damaging for Republicans as the party in power.

“We’re going to win the midterm elections and we’re going to have a tremendous, thundering landslide, I really believe that . . . and I really think we’re helped a lot by the tariff situation that’s going on,” Trump said. “Which is a good situation, not a bad, it’s great. It’s going to be legendary, you watch. Legendary in a positive way.”
