Marco Rubio Reveals Just How Little USAID Funding Was Helping the Needy

Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered some shocking data points about American foreign aid spending before the Trump administration reformed the system.

During testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday, the top diplomat revealed that the White House discovered a foreign aid regime that was distracted and inefficient.

Only 12 cents of every dollar spent by USAID reached recipients.

“That means that in order for us to get aid to somebody, we had to spend all this other money supporting this foreign aid industrial complex,” Rubio said, per a State Department transcript.

In other words, while a mere 12 cents went to recipients, the other 88 cents was pocketed by third parties.

“We’re going to find more efficient ways to deliver aid to people directly, and it’s going to be directed by our regional bureaus, and it’s going to sponsor programs that make a difference, and it’s going to be part of a holistic approach to our foreign policy,” he told lawmakers.

Mind Blowing information from Marco Rubio

– Only 12 cents of every dollar spent from USAID went to recipients, the other 88 cents went to NGOs who pocketed the money
– Even with the reforms we put in place and what we’re suggesting in changes to our foreign aid, we still will… pic.twitter.com/Tf5LQRNpaR

— Wall Street Apes (@WallStreetApes) May 21, 2025

The administration provoked controversy by folding USAID back into the State Department, but Rubio noted that the United States is still giving “more humanitarian support than the next 10 countries combined” even after the reforms.

He compared American foreign aid spending to the much more nefarious strategy maintained by China.

“China doesn’t do humanitarian aid. China does predatory lending. That’s what Belt and Road Initiative is,” Rubio continued, referring to the communist nation’s debt-trap diplomacy program.

“They have zero record of doing humanitarian aid in the world, and frankly, they don’t know how to do it,” he observed.

“They have no interest in doing it.”

Rubio said that China is instead adept at “going into some country, making you a loan, and then holding that debt over your head.”

Beyond the wasteful spending, Rubio voiced concern that the State Department had been entirely dislodged from the foreign policy ecosystem and replaced “by the National Security Council or by some other agency” in the federal government.

He noted that staff at the State Department were nevertheless the ones with the most relevant foreign policy experience.

“We have these highly talented people, many of whom have served in multiple posts around the world and have a holistic view of how foreign policy needs to be conducted that were being edged out,” Rubio said of his own agency.

Constitutional Court in Italy challenges traditional family by recognizing two women as mothers of a newborn.

The Constitutional Court of Italy has issued a ruling that will allow two women to be registered as mothers of a newborn conceived through assisted reproduction abroad.

This ruling contradicts the essence of the traditional family and poses a direct threat to the fundamental values of society.

— IL TEMPO (@tempoweb) May 22, 2025

Sentence «two #mamme «, #ProVita & Family: «Existential lie for children» #22maggio #iltempoquotidiano

The decision, celebrated by LGBT activists, clashes with the policies of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government, which defends a family structure based on biology and marriage between a man and a woman.

The case originated in Lucca, Tuscany, where a married lesbian couple fought to register their child as the descendant of both women. Italian law only recognized the biological mother, forcing the other woman to seek legal adoption.

Two women can both be registered as parents of a newborn child in Italy, according to the country’s top court, which deemed such a ban unconstitutional https://t.co/AVEIa23DIv

— Bloomberg (@business) May 22, 2025

In its ruling on May 22, 2025, the Constitutional Court declared this restriction unconstitutional, citing Articles 2, 3, and 30 of the Constitution, which protect fundamental rights, equality, and the welfare of the child. According to the court, denying recognition to the non-biological mother harms the child by depriving them of a full legal relationship with both parents.

This ruling represents a direct attack on the traditional conception of the family, which in Italy has historically been defined by biological ties and heterosexual marriage.

The pro-life and pro-family organization Pro Vita e Famiglia condemned the ruling as a “mockery of human nature,” arguing that equating parenthood to a voluntary act rather than biology undermines the meaning of family.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has staunchly defended the traditional family, promoting policies that reinforce the role of mother and father as pillars of society.

In 2023, the Ministry of the Interior issued a directive prohibiting the automatic registration of non-biological mothers, reflecting the government’s commitment to protecting the classical family structure.

However, this court decision undermines those efforts, opening the door to a model of parenthood that critics say lacks a natural foundation.

Italy remains one of the most conservative countries in the European Union on LGBT rights. Assisted reproduction is restricted to married heterosexual couples, and surrogacy is penalized with fines of up to one million euros and prison sentences—even for procedures legally performed abroad.

These laws reflect widespread societal resistance to accepting alternative definitions of family.

The ruling normalizes a family model that confuses children and weakens traditional gender roles. According to a report by the Novae Terrae Foundation, 68% of Italians believe that a family should be composed of a man and a woman—evidence of widespread rejection of such changes.

The Constitutional Court stated that parenthood is an “act of will and shared responsibility”—a definition that, for defenders of the traditional family, ignores the importance of biological complementarity between men and women.

This perspective stands in contrast to countries like Spain, where same-sex parent families are fully recognized. In Italy, however, where Catholic tradition remains a cultural cornerstone, the ruling is seen as an affront.

The ruling by the Constitutional Court marks a turning point that threatens to erode the foundations of the traditional family in Italy.

The family, as the core of society, is not a malleable construct; it is a natural structure that ensures social stability and the integral development of children. Allowing two women to be recognized as mothers without biological ties not only contradicts Italian tradition—deeply rooted in Catholicism—but also risks the cultural identity of the country.

The question is: how long will Italy be able to withstand the pressure of progressive ideologies seeking to impose a model of family stripped of its natural roots?

Defending the traditional family is not an act of intolerance but a commitment to preserving an institution that has proven to be the cornerstone of Western civilization.

The pope’s connections to America run deeper than you think.

Credit: Marco Iabucci Epp/Shutterstock

Those trying to understand Pope Leo VIX by parsing his social media are missing the forest for the tweets. Robert Prevost was not communicating a total worldview when he tapped repost every so often in the midst of his pressing duties as bishop and later cardinal. Pope Leo, on the other hand, has been carefully laying the groundwork for what looks to be a thoughtful and strong magisterium in the years to come. While much remains to be seen, the direction he is starting from is already clear.

While every pope draws from many predecessors, the name he chooses signals whose legacy he cherishes most. Pope Leo’s namesake, Leo XIII (1878–1903) was a pivotal figure who wrestled mightily with the issues of modernity still facing us today, particularly the relationship of labor to capital in a rapidly advancing age. His encyclical Rerum novarum is considered the foundation of modern Catholic economic and social teaching. In his first address to the College of Cardinals, his namesake cited Rerum novarum as the main inspiration for his name. Therefore, to understand the new Pope Leo one must understand the old. Happily, revisiting Leo XIII inspires great hope for the world and for America in particular.

As the last pope of the 19th century and the first pope of the 20th, Leo XIII lived in tumultuous times. In politics, aggressively secular, often socialist movements were replacing the Christian confessional states of the past. Socially, the industrial revolution was transforming the relationship between labor and capital. Leo’s two most important texts on these changes were Immortale Dei, a work on the Christian constitution of states, and the abovementioned Rerum novarum.

On first glance, Immortale Dei is a strange text to mention in the context of an American pope. In it, Leo XIII argues that the best form of government is a Catholic confessional state. He deplores when “government is nothing more nor less than the will of the people … alone its own ruler.” That sounds like a scathing indictment of American democracy. But a full reading of the text reveals that Leo’s objections are not against democracy as such, but against any form of government which sets itself up as a rival to God’s law, particularly the natural law. He objects to those governments of his day that forced their citizens “to hold, therefore, that there is no difference in matters of religion… this is the same thing as atheism.”

Pope Leo XIV reiterated that message in his first homily when he lamented that people often view Jesus as one teacher among many and thus live in a state of “practical atheism,” saying, “A lack of faith is often tragically accompanied by the loss of meaning in life, the neglect of mercy, appalling violations of human dignity, the crisis of the family and so many other wounds that afflict our society.” Leo is stressing how faith is intimately connected to a healthy society. That teaching comes straight from the heart of Immortale Dei.

Some might counter that what Leo XIII wanted was a fully Catholic state, something recent popes have written little on and Leo XIV is unlikely to call for. But they should realize that Leo XIII was writing primarily to “all nations of the Catholic world,” namely, those states that were largely Catholic until then. Leo sets up a Catholic state as the ideal, but he acknowledges that “the Church is wont to take earnest heed that no one shall be forced to embrace the Catholic faith against his will, for, as St. Augustine wisely reminds us, ‘Man cannot believe otherwise than of his own will.’” Doubtless our new Augustinian pope would agree.

Looking at the changing world around him, Leo XIII saw a great gleam of hope, shining like a city on a hill: America. Despite his nostalgia for the ancien régime, Leo was an unabashed admirer of the United States. Writing to the U.S. bishops, Leo declared, “We highly esteem and love exceedingly the young and vigorous American nation…. All intelligent men are agreed, and We Ourselves have with pleasure intimated it above, that America seems destined for greater things.” In that same letter, Leo celebrated the friendship between George Washington and Baltimore’s Bishop John Carroll and, quoting from Washington’s Farewell Address, praised him for upholding the connection between religious devotion and civil prosperity. Leo did not want already Catholic countries to sever the bond between Church and state, but he saw in America the best and most just way to order a society where the two were already separate. To him, America was a promising alternative to the hostile, secular regimes springing up in Europe.

Interestingly, Leo XIII concluded his letter to the bishops with an exhortation to journalists, whom he acknowledges are particularly important in a democratic society. He admonished journalists to speak the truth without rancor, warning “they rather inflict than repel war if they waste their strength by discord.” In the same vein, Leo XIV, after addressing his brother cardinals, turned to journalists directly in his first press conference, telling them “we must say ‘no’ to the war of words and images, we must reject the paradigm of war.” Our Pope Leo is a thoughtful man who knows the world is watching. His mirroring of his predecessor  is not accidental and should point us back to that pope’s teaching.

The crown jewel of that teaching is Rerum novarum. Read with Leo XIII’s hopes for America in mind, Rerum novarum takes on new depth. Although it maintains Leo’s overarching thesis that faith is essential to society, it also appears as a restatement and enlargement of Locke’s Second Treatise of Government—a key text of the American Founding. Condemning socialism, Leo declares private property to be a natural right and the cornerstone of economic activity. Like Locke, Leo argues that private property springs from the nature of labor itself. “When man thus turns the activity of his mind and the strength of his body toward procuring the fruits of nature, by such act he makes his own that portion of nature’s field which he cultivates.” Compare this to Locke’s formulation, “As much land as a man tills, plants, improves, cultivates, and can use the product of, so much is his property.” It looks like Leo was copying Locke’s homework; indeed, the German scholar Manfred Spieker attests that Locke’s Second Treatise was used in the composition of Rerum novarum.

By using Locke’s principle of private property, Leo XIII guaranteed broad overlap with the founding ideals of the American republic and buttressed it against the distortions of socialism. Yet, confronted with laissez-faire capitalism, Leo perceived that property rights cannot be the only foundation of society, writing “wage-earners, since they mostly belong in the mass of the needy, should be specially cared for and protected by the government.” Leo rejected the notion that the only requirement for just employment is mutual consent between employer and employee. He argued that the real standard must be a wage that would permit a frugal man to live a life of modest dignity, with time for both family and religion. Unsurprisingly, Leo enjoyed a warm relationship with Teddy Roosevelt, who championed many of Rerum novarum’s ideals.

Given all the above, it seems fitting that Leo XIII’s successor should be an American. Those of his countrymen now rushing to dismiss him for failing to conform to a few matters of present political orthodoxy should read Rerum novarum and be assured that a pope rooted in its tradition is likewise rooted in the best traditions of our country. Should he challenge us on some matters (as Leo XIII did), he will not do so from across an unbridgeable divide, but rather from a different branch of the same tree. Thus we should take the new pope at his word when he calls for authentic dialogue. Americans, especially American Catholics, should not fear to make their voice heard in Rome, but they should also listen with open minds to this new Roman voice speaking in our native tongue.

This Memorial Day Weekend, Where’s the Movie Magic?

This Memorial Day Weekend, Where’s the Movie Magic?

Hollywood’s churning out blockbusters, but for filmgoers, the summer season isn’t what it used to be.

As Mark Twain might put it, the reports of the death of the American moviegoing public seem to have been greatly exaggerated.

The recently flailing Warner Bros. Pictures found its footing these past couple months with the box-office success of A Minecraft Movie, Sinners, and (of all things) Final Destination: Bloodlines. Meanwhile, I am certain that a sizable portion of Earth’s eight billion inhabitants have already surrendered over three hours of their lives (including trailers) to Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning, which, with its opening this Memorial Day weekend, will undoubtedly provide a vigorous launch to the summer movie season.

Is Hollywood’s comeback permanent, or is it the cinematic equivalent of an election night map that for a few hours suggests victory but ultimately ends in defeat?

I tend to think the latter. Yes, the aforementioned flicks had the advantage of not being tethered to the comic book universes, but how long will audiences reward the studios simply on those feeble grounds? To make a movie superior to Madame Web or Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is an awfully low bar to clear. Are we really to believe that the movie industry will find lasting salvation in such forthcoming aspirant blockbusters as Smurfs, or in the reboots Jurassic World Rebirth, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Naked Gun, and Freakier Friday? Oh, and that thing about comic book movies being played out—well, someone forgot to tell the people who greenlit Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. To paraphrase another American literary giant, so we beat on, borne back ceaselessly into the superheroic past.

Some may call me churlish, contrarian, or simply cynical, but I prefer to think of myself as simply old—old enough, anyway, to remember with clarity the summer movie season of twenty-five years ago, which was considerably more dynamic, entertaining, and occasionally artful than the present one promises to be.

Let us consider, then, some of the movies released in the summer of 2000.

One of the highlights of the season was Woody Allen’s Small Time Crooks, which opened ten nights before Memorial Day but which, by every other measure, embodied what summer moviegoing represented at its best: uncomplicated, unadulterated diversion. Its pleasures were small-scale but tangible. Allen starred as the incompetent impresario of a cadre of cons who set their sights on robbing a bank. They intend to tunnel into the vault by way of their nearby cookie shop, but even their ostentatiously obtuse employee May (played by Elaine May, never funnier) questions the believability of the cover story. Told that the tunnel represents the cookie shop’s expansion into a restaurant and tea shop, she says, “So where are they going to drink the tea—in the tunnel?”

One measure of the decline of summer movies is that Small Time Crooks was a modest box-office success a quarter-century ago, but this summer Woody Allen, officially canceled from mainstream film production, will not be seen on movie screens at all.

Lest you assume that my tastes ran exclusively toward the wittily piquant, I also saw and enjoyed Mission: Impossible 2, which at least had the advantage of being fresher—and closer in time to the original film—than the forthcoming eighth entrant in the series. I remember being riveted by the sea-based disaster movie The Perfect Storm, which was directed by action pro Wolfgang Petersen and starred George Clooney when he was merely an OK actor rather than the self-appointed Democratic power broker and conscience of his nation. That summer, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator was still playing in theaters, too—the thought of pulling that audience favorite in favor of a premature home video release was then unimaginable.

Meanwhile, the ghost story What Lies Beneath showed off the incomparable cinematic skillset of director Robert Zemeckis and revealed the surprising capacity for playing an evil character in leading man Harrison Ford. Like What Lies Beneath, Clint Eastwood’s Space Cowboys has stood the test of time: this admirable admixture of comedy and adventure centered on a quartet of put-out-to-pasture test pilots (Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, and James Garner) who are propelled into outer space. Space Cowboys was arguably made two decades too early: Eastwood and Jones are still kicking, and Sutherland died just last year. Given the industry’s hunger for sequels, I must ask why no studio has seen fit to greenlight Space Cowboys 2?

Each of these motion pictures was not only profitable but creditable: well-made, agreeable, diverting in the best tradition of Hollywood showmanship and spectacle. Was the public subjected to junk in the summer of 2000? Of course. That summer saw the release of Scary Movie and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, which proves that some things never change. But that summer also saw the release of niche titles that would not even be produced, let alone dispatched to a handful of theaters, in 2025, including Raul Ruiz’s imaginative abridgement of Proust, Time Regained; Alan Rudolph’s way-out ensemble mystery, Trixie; Kenneth Branagh’s gleamingly filmed, gorgeously scored musical rendition of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. I caught some of these only upon video release, but the fact remains that each was playing in a theater somewhere during the magical cinematic summer of 2000—a circumstance unimaginable in the present environment.

As I said, my perspective is informed by my age. As a sentient being who went to the movies twenty-five years ago, I can attest to the relative quality of the filmic offerings that summer. I can also certify the existence of more, better, and larger newspapers, affirm the fun of the Regis Philbin-hosted Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and confirm the peaceable normalcy of a pre-9/11, pre-Iraq War, pre-George W. Bush America. For my liberal friends, consider: Donald Trump was neither on reality TV nor in the White House back then—he was merely managing real estate from Trump Tower. Perhaps now you can see why I greet the coming movie season with blasé indifference. I’m sure Hollywood would trade the eighth Mission: Impossible movie for this former, better world—wouldn’t you?

I do not claim that the summer of 2000 gave us any movie masterpieces, but to the extent that the releases that season stand as emblems of a vanished epoch, I will continue to cling to them—their ticket stubs a Proustian reminder of all we have lost.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul Complains Republican Spending Bill Could Cut Services to ‘Members of the Undocumented Community’

New York’s Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul recently gave an interview to Telemundo in which she complained about the new Republican spending bill, claiming that it could adversely effect ‘members of the undocumented community.’ That’s Democrat speak for illegal aliens.

In voicing this concern, Hochul is ignoring the fact that millions of Americans voted for this. People watched for years under Biden as New York put illegal aliens up in luxury hotels and fed them three meals a day, spending untold billions of dollars on these people as American citizens suffered under the inflation of the Biden economy.

Perhaps New York wouldn’t find itself in this position if the state hadn’t spent a fortune month after month, catering to people who were in the country illegally.

Breitbart News has details:

Hochul: We’ll Lose Money Under GOP Bill, ‘Don’t Want to Go’ to Cutting Services for Migrants

During an interview with Telemundo 47 on Friday, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) argued that the state is going to lose money under the Republican tax and spending bill and people will lose health care and responded to if she’ll have to cut services to some immigrants by saying, “I don’t want to go there.” And “This is something we have to look at very seriously for how we can not leave these people without essential care.”…

Host Alejandro Mendoza then asked, “Could we see something like we have seen in California where the governor had to cut services to some immigrants?”

Hochul responded, “I don’t want to go there. This is money that’s now been lost by the federal government — they used to help us pay for this. This is something we have to look at very seriously for how we can not leave these people without essential care.

If you listen to the audio below, Hochul brings up the ‘undocumented community’ at the 2:25 mark.

It’s just astounding to watch Democrats go to bat for people who are in the country illegally, over and over again.

Victor Davis Hanson Torches Jake Tapper Over Cashing in on Biden Decline Book: ‘You Failed the Test of Truth’ (VIDEO)

Conservative historian and scholar, Victor Davis Hanson, has released a new video in which he goes after CNN’s Jake Tapper for his new book about Joe Biden’s mental decline, calling out Tapper and other members of the media for ignoring the story until now.

Hanson notes that the reason this is happening now is because Biden now has no power so he is no longer useful to the left.

He goes so far as to suggest that Tapper should be out of a job over this. He asks where Tapper was on issues like the Russia collusion hoax and the Hunter Biden laptop.

Partial transcript via the Daily Signal:

Why didn’t Jake Tapper write this a year ago? Because he knows what would’ve happened. Somebody in the White House would’ve called up and said, “Tapper, no one from CNN is gonna get a seat at a press conference. There’s not gonna be any CNN interview.” So he backed down.

And now in a very cowardly fashion, now he comes out and he is blaming the White House cover-up. But what he doesn’t tell us is the White House cover-up would have been impossible had not CNN, MSNBC, PBS, NBC, ABC, CBS all conspired with the White House staff to downplay—not just downplay Biden’s cognitive decline but attack people.

Bottom line: They had more interest in protecting this left-wing administration who was using this waxen effigy of Joe Biden and for someone’s purposes—we don’t know who was running the country, who was giving him the autopen executive orders. We have no idea who those people are. We have a suspicion that it was the Obama crowd.

But nevertheless, they didn’t care about that. They did not care about that. All they knew is that this was a left-wing agenda and it had to be preserved by any means necessary. And that included lying, lying, covering up, and worst of all, demonizing and attacking people who sought to tell the truth about Joe Biden.

You can watch the short and/or long versions of the video below. Here’s the short version:

Victor Davis Hanson absolutely demolishes Jake Tapper: “One of the greatest acts of moral duplicity I’ve seen in my lifetime.”

Brutal. And 100% accurate:

“Joe Biden has got cancer. He’s written off. He’s in decline. The family is disgraced. It’s easy now to write about that.”… pic.twitter.com/SoQBSodVH8

— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) May 24, 2025

This is the long version:

Tapper knows everything Victor Davis Hanson says here is true, he just doesn’t care.

WOAH! “BE F*CKING BETTER” – WNBA’s Brittney Griner LOSES IT, Steps Away From Sideline Interview to Chew Out Refs on Live TV Mid-Game (VIDEO)

In another flagrant display of unsportsmanlike conduct, WNBA Atlanta Dream Center Brittney Griner took her rage out on the referee on live television before an interview on the sidelines at halftime.

The Atlanta Dream later notched an 83-75 win against the Dallas Wings.

As the Dream led 37-30 at halftime, Griner stepped away for an interview with CBS Sports. But right when the interviewer started her question, Griner turned around to apparently dispute a holding foul called against her.

It is unclear exactly what she was saying, but as she walked back to the camera, she is seen screaming at the refs, “be f*cking better!”

The interviewer was clearly stunned.

WATCH:

Moments later, Griner said to viewers, “Sorry, ya’ll”

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Griner appeared to use a racial slur against WNBA favorite Caitlin Clark during Thursday’s game against the Indiana Fever.

Following her fifth and final foul against Clark, where she appeared to elbow Clark in the face, Griner returned to the bench and seemingly called Clark a “trash f*cking White girl.”

Brittney Griner Appears to Call Caitlin Clark a “Trash F*cking White Girl” After Fouling Out (VIDEO)

The WNBA does not appear to care about her anti-White racism. It does not look like they’ll investigate the incident.

Griner is known for perhaps the worst trade in the history of sports and the history of the United States when Joe Biden gave an infamous weapons dealer back to Russia in exchange for Griner.

It can be recalled that she was found guilty of drug smuggling with criminal intent and sentenced to nine years in prison in a Russian court in August 2022 after bringing her weed into the country.

Joe Biden infamously traded Russia the “Merchant of Death,” Viktor Bout, for WNBA pot-smoking star Brittney Griner. Bout was reportedly back in business, caught selling $10 million in arms to Houthi rebels in Yemen just last year.

CREEPY: Harvard Medical School Morgue Director Pleads Guilty to Trafficking Stolen Body Parts – Faces 10 Years in Prison

The hits just keep coming for Harvard University.

The former director of the morgue at Harvard Medical School has pleaded guilty to trafficking stolen human body parts that were typically used for research. He faces a ten year prison term.

The creepy details of the story are like something straight out of a horror movie.

The New York Post reports:

Harvard Medical School morgue manager admits to stealing organs, selling them on the black market

Cedric Lodge, 57, of Goffstown, New Hampshire, pleaded guilty to interstate transport of stolen human remains on Wednesday before Chief U.S. District Judge Matthew W. Brann, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

The maximum penalty under federal law is 10 years in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment and a fine.

A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the judge after “consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the federal sentencing guidelines,” according to the release.

Officials said Lodge admitted that from 2018 through at least March 2020 he participated in the sale and interstate transport of human remains stolen from the Harvard Medical School morgue in Massachusetts.

Lodge, then-manager of the Harvard Medical School morgue, removed human remains, including organs, brains, skin, hands, faces, dissected heads and other parts from donated cadavers after they had been used for research and teaching purposes, but before they could be disposed of according to the anatomical gift donation agreement between the donor and the school, according to the release.

Senator John Kennedy Slams Media for Suddenly Noticing Biden’s Decline: ‘Hypocrisy Never Takes a Vacation Around Here’ (VIDEO)

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana appeared on the Sean Hannity show this week and slammed the media over their hypocrisy on Joe Biden’s mental decline.

Kennedy pointed out that everyone knew what was happening with Biden and called out Jake Tapper for cashing in on the issue after he and other members of the liberal media demonized anyone who brought this up over the years.

He also noted that this is just one more example of how the media has squandered the trust of the American people, as they did with the Russia collusion hoax and other fake news.

Transcript via RedState:

My biggest concern with all of this has to do with the state of the media in America today. And let me explain what I mean by that. I watched bits and pieces of the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner this year, and I listened to speaker after speaker, all Washington reporters, all defend “freedom of the press.” And I kept thinking, they wouldn’t have to defend it if they didn’t work so hard to undermine it every day.

The American people saw what I saw, what you saw, for years with respect to President Biden. And I’m sorry President Biden is sick, but we all saw the same thing for years. We saw a president who couldn’t finish a sentence without taking a nap. We saw a president – an elderly man – who talked like he was from outer space. He walked like he was underwater; you could bake a Thanksgiving turkey in the time it took him to walk across the stage.

90 percent of the American media not only never reported that, but when [some] Democrats and many Republicans raised the issue, they pushed back. And this is just one more example of so many members of our media squandering the trust of the American people. There are other examples – the Steele Dossier, the Hunter Biden laptop. I mean, I could go on and on and on. But that, to me, is what makes me want to stick my head in an oven.

Today, the media’s happy after Mr. Tapper’s book’s coming out, the media’s happy to report it. But none of them have taken responsibility for not reporting what was so obvious to the American people. Hypocrisy never takes a vacation around here, I can tell you.

“Toms River is Red and Won’t Stand for His Bullsh*t”: Bruce Springsteen Cover Band Loses Gig–in NEW JERSEY–as the Boss Continues Attacks on President Trump at Show in France

A Bruce Springsteen cover band lost a gig in the Boss’ home state of New Jersey over concerns about a backlash from Springsteen’s vicious attacks on President Donald Trump in concerts overseas. Meanwhile Springsteen continued his attacks on Trump at Saturday night’s show in France, with French subtitles on the jumbotron’s during his anti-Trump speeches.

“They are abandoning our allies and siding with dictators…”

Springsteen cover band No Surrender was set to play a show May 30th at Rivs Toms River Hub in the southern New Jersey Trump stronghold of Toms River, but the owner got cold feet after Springsteen repeatedly attacked President Trump in concerts in Manchester, England this month.

Excerpt from a report by NJ.com:

Shortly after Springsteen kicked off his European tour with harsh words about the Trump administration on May 14, bandleader Brad Hobicorn started receiving concerned text messages from bar owner Tony Rivoli, Hobicorn told NJ Advance Media Thursday morning.

On Sunday, Rivoli texted Hobicorn to say the gig was canceled, saying it was “too risky at the moment,” citing his restaurant’s conservative customer base.

Hobicorn offered to have his band play only non-Springsteen, classic-rock covers. But Rivoli balked at paying $2,500 for a classic-rock cover band as opposed to a Springsteen-specific group.

“Unfortunately it’s just too much money I wanted to do the Springsteen tribute for that money in my social media team would have promoted it we would have done well but now because Bruce can’t keep his mouth shut we’re screwed,” Rivoli wrote in a text message to Hobicorn obtained by NJ Advance Media.

In a message sent to bassist Guy Fleming, Rivoli wrote, “Whenever the national anthem plays, my bar stands and is in total silence, that’s our clientele. Toms River is red and won’t stand for his bull—-.”

At his show Saturday night at Stade Pierre-Mauroy Villeneuve-d’Ascq in Lille, France, Springsteen continued his war on foreign soil with Trump, giving his three speeches throughout the show in English with French subtitles on the jumbotrons:

The good news is that Bruce Springsteen opened his set in Lille with a heartfelt rant against trump. He remains unbowed under the pink baby’s onslaught. More power to him pic.twitter.com/JPzO7vmtye

Text of Springsteen’s speech trashing President Trump (and his supporters) as originally given in Manchester, England on May 14 and repeated at every successive show:

Introduction to My City of Ruins

There’s some very weird, strange and dangerous shit going on out there right now. In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now.

In America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death. This is happening now.

In my country, they’re taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers.

They’re rolling back historic civil rights legislation that has led to a more just and plural society.

They are abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom. They are defunding American universities that won’t bow down to their ideological demands.

They are removing residents off American streets and, without due process of law, are deporting them to foreign detention centers and prisons. This is all happening now.

A majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government. They have no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American.

The America l’ve sung to you about for 50 years is real and regardless of its faults is a great country with a great people. So we’ll survive this moment. Now, I have hope, because I believe in the truth of what the great American writer James Baldwin said. He said, “In this world, there isn’t as much humanity as one would like, but there’s enough.” Let’s pray.

Springsteen is scheduled to tour Europe the next month-and-a-half, finishing in Italy on July 3rd. No U.S. dates have been announced so far.

President Trump has fired back at Springsteen several times the past few weeks, most notably with a renewed golf swing meme targeting Springsteen that featured real video of Springsteen falling down on stage during a concert in Amsterdam in May 2023:
