What Trump’s Ukraine Aid Pause Says About America’s Broken Foreign Policy

When asked on July 7 whether the United States would be sending more weapons to Ukraine, President Donald Trump responded in the affirmative. “We have to, they have to be able to defend themselves,” Trump told reporters, referring to the Ukrainians. “They’re getting hit very hard. Now they’re getting hit very hard. We’re gonna have to send more weapons.”

Many foreign policy analysts in Washington and Europe greeted the remarks with a sigh of relief. Six days earlier, the Trump administration suspended some U.S. arms shipments to Ukraine in a move American defense officials at the time said was part of a broader review of the U.S. military’s munitions stockpiles. That decision elicited a mix of disappointment, panic and anger, with U.S. lawmakers—including some within Trump’s own Republican Party—calling the move counterproductive to White House’s aims of pressuring Russia’s President Vladimir Putin into a serious peace process.

Yet the latest dizzying rollercoaster ride on Ukraine aid misses a crucial point: a pause, however temporary, was always inevitable at some point. And because the U.S. military and the U.S. defense-industrial base are vastly overstretched and burdened with numerous flash-points in multiple regions simultaneously, it’s likely a similar situation will happen again.

All of this boils down to a simple proposition: The United States is simply doing too much, the consequence of an outdated U.S. foreign policy of primacy that Washington continues to lean on. In general, primacy is a resource-intensive approach that seeks to defend a state’s status as the world’s foremost power by keeping competitors down and allies close. Maintaining dominance over the international system is the name of the game, and U.S. administrations under Republican and Democratic presidents alike sought to ensure American power was unrivaled and unchallenged.

Such a strategy was workable in the 1990s and early 2000s, when America was at the cusp of its unipolar moment and other challengers—like Russia and China—were either too weak or uninterested to resist U.S. policy. Washington’s unipolar moment has long since passed. The United States may still be the world’s strongest superpower, but it’s no longer a hegemon free to do what it likes.

China, whose economy is more than 15 times larger than it was at the turn of the century, is now a strong (if not the strongest) military and economic power in Asia with both the intent and capability to balance Washington in its neighborhood. Russia may be dealing with systemic problems in terms of demographics and economics—not to mention a three-year war in Ukraine that is churning through young Russian men by the hundreds every week—but it’s nevertheless led by a man, Vladimir Putin, who is willing to use force in an attempt to cling to whatever sphere of influence Moscow has left. The foundations of U.S. foreign policy have failed to catch up with a world order that is becoming more multipolar with time and where middle powers in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia are constantly on the lookout for opportunities.

This is bad news for the Trump administration because a correct diagnosis of international politics as it currently exists is a prerequisite for smart policy. What we have instead is an attachment to an old stratagem that creates more problems than it solves.

Indeed, primacy is not a risk-free enterprise. As recent history has shown, it can lead to hubris, shallow thinking and a sense of unbridled self-importance, whereby every international challenge—no matter how small—is viewed as an urgent and present danger. Prioritization—determining what interests are truly vital to U.S. security and prosperity, where to expend the country’s limited resources and which challenge should be left for allies or partners to manage—falls by the wayside as U.S. policymakers increasingly buy into the fallacy that America is the only state with the capacity and responsibility to solve the world’s problems. Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s description of America as “the indispensable nation,” made in 1998, is still very much a core tenet of U.S. foreign policy in 2025.

Trump may repeatedly crow about allies in Europe and Asia not picking up their fair share of the defense burden, but the sheen of primacy hasn’t worn off yet. Despite reorientation from fighting counterinsurgency wars in the Middle East to competing with China in the Pentagon’s strategy documents over the last decade, the U.S. force posture remains global, hindering the purported shift to the Indo-Pacific that U.S. defense planners frequently talk about.

Desperately clinging to a dying hegemony means shortchanging military readiness over the long-term, rapidly moving military resources thousands of miles at a time without due regard for long-term strategy and expending defense assets at a rate that current production can’t match. Eventually, those decisions will add up and result in difficult decisions down the line, like the one Washington just confronted regarding Ukraine.

The last two years have been a study in foreign policy mismanagement. Strategic planning has been sacrificed to short-term expediency and the pressure to react to events. Often this translates into sinking more U.S. troops, fighter aircraft, and air defense systems into the Middle East and shortchanging other regions like Asia that, if the Pentagon’s own guidelines are to be believed, are supposed to be the new center of gravity. Instead of delegating certain tasks to others and allowing U.S. partners to prove their mettle, America insists on taking the lead, disincentivizing the very burden-sharing Trump claims to care about.

When the Houthis targeted civilian shipping in the Red Sea, it was the U.S. Navy, not European or Gulf Arab states, that tried to subdue the Yemeni group into submission at a cost of more than $1 billion worth of missile interceptors—some of the very same interceptors the Ukrainians are now begging for and Pentagon planners want for a future contingency against China. When Iran started shooting drones and ballistic missiles toward Israel last month, it was the United States—not the Europeans and certainly not the Arab States—that rushed over with air defense assets. According to Haaretz, the U.S. military used in 12 days of conflict close to half as many THAAD missile interceptors as the U.S. defense industrial base produced in all of last year. It’s no wonder U.S. defense planners are compelled to reassess their inventories.

The Trump administration may have cleared up the weapons snafu with Ukraine. But as long as America continues to delude itself into thinking it can be everywhere all of the time, don’t be shocked to see another version of this episode in the future.

New York’s Stale Speech Suppression Playbook

New York’s Stale Speech Suppression Playbook

A new law in New York seeks to bring back the bad old days of tech censorship.

Can someone please tell New York things have changed? New Yorkers are stuck in the Biden era or earlier. Some are still pushing BLM-catch-and-release policing; some are still hoping that defunding the cops might somehow be a way to make the streets safer.

Meanwhile, they just nominated Zohran Mamdani, a wacky radical socialist, as their Democratic candidate for city mayor, a guy who makes AOC look like she could be an editor for The American Conservative. But the biggest policy throwback of recent memory is a new law to force social media censorship on a state-wide level to cut off conservative content. X, only recently freed from the confines of being Twitter, is right in their crosshairs. The good news is Elon Musk and X are fighting back.

The New York law, S895B, would create “terms of service reports” in which social media companies would disclose to Attorney General Letitia James (of Trump lawfare prosecution fame) whether their terms of service include definitions for terms including hate speech, racism, extremism, misinformation, harassment, and foreign political interference. The companies would then be required to include those definitions in a report.

These “terms of service” reports would also require companies to disclose details regarding their “content moderation practices” by providing metrics and data as to the number of content, groups, and users flagged for violation, number of actions taken, and types of enforcement actions, all enforced with the penalty of a fine that could run as much as of $15,000 per day. New York governor Kathy Hochul signed the law in December 2024, and it is set to go into effect this year.

New York is years too late in trying to censor social media under the guise of “hate speech.” In 2022, Donald Trump said at a rally, “Another one of our highest priorities under a Republican Congress will be to stop left-wing censorship and to restore free speech in America, which we do not have.” There were at that time already a plethora of bills for regulating social media content moderation policies at state houses around the country.

Progressives relished censorship power because the most popular platforms conformed to their desires, but could not or would not see how the censor’s aim be redirected at them. In a little-known 2018 case, a lawyer for Twitter even told a judge the company had the right to censor protected groups. “Does Twitter have the right to take somebody off its platform if it does so because it doesn’t like the fact that the person is a woman? Or gay?” a judge asked a lawyer for the company. “The First Amendment would give Twitter the right,” the lawyer replied. The argument was that our free speech rights only cover the government’s actions, not private enterprises like social media.

Things hit a low point in 2020 when Twitter and Facebook became public censors. In the 18th century, none of the forward-thinking men who founded this nation could have envisioned a day when technology and global corporations would overshadow the power of governments to control information. The social media giants tried to disappear a story from the New York Post claiming Hunter Biden had sold a Ukrainian company access to his father Joe.

The censorship was so complete other writers were afraid to even include a link to the Biden story, for fear their article too would be made to disappear. You could not tweet a link to the Post’s story or send it as a direct message on Twitter and you couldn’t post it on Facebook without having your post suppressed. If you were an unimportant person your message would just be blocked. If you were important enough, like a conservative journalist trying to report out the fuller story, your account would be locked. The Post, one of the largest mass circulation dailies, could not retweet its own article. It was high times for the woke and their newly discovered ability to silence opposing views, First Amendment be damned. The left pretended a corporation with the reach to influence elections was just another company that sells stuff.

Online free speech may not have been saved entirely by Elon Musk, but he came pretty close when he bought Twitter and renamed it X. Alongside the new name came a rebirth of free speech. Writers and pundits who had been blackballed from Twitter (including me) were reinstated. Once again a diverse range of viewpoints was allowed. “Hate speech” was not used as an excuse to silence legitimate political expression. Things were looking up until just recently, when New York sought to bring back the bad old days with its new law.

But this time Elon Musk is fighting back. X sued New York to challenge the state law requiring social media companies to submit semi-annual reports about how they are suppressing certain kinds of speech. X claims provisions in the “Stop Hiding Hate Act” violate the First Amendment and threaten free speech. X argues that the “Content Category Report” portion of the law is unconstitutional, and that content moderation “engenders considerable debate among reasonable people about where to draw the correct proverbial line.”

“This is not a role the government may play,” X’s suit says, arguing the law’s “attempt to tilt the marketplace of ideas” by harnessing public pressure to achieve its goals is impermissible, since the government “cannot do indirectly what [it] is barred from doing directly.”

“The state is impermissibly trying to generate public controversy about content moderation in a way that will pressure social media companies, such as X Corp., to restrict, limit, disfavor or censor certain constitutionally protected content on X that the state dislikes,” says the suit.

There is a good chance X will prevail. The “Content Category Report” provisions of the New York “Stop Hiding Hate Act” are almost identical to a California law (Assembly Bill No. 587) that presidential wannabe Gavin Newsom signed in 2022, requiring social media companies to submit similar reports to the California attorney general. X challenged that law on the same grounds of unconstitutionality, and a U.S. court of appeals ruled in their favor. That same year, Texas won at the circuit level with a similar case, making it illegal for social media to censor, delete, or otherwise interfere with viewpoints, what is known as content discrimination.

The answer to “bad” speech is simply more speech to air opposing viewpoints. Elon Musk knows this. New York does not. Yet.

BREAKING: BIDEN AUTOPEN SCANDAL: NY Times Confirms Biden Did Not Sign Off on All Pardons – WH Chief of Staff Zeints Approved Fauci’s Pardon

The Biden Autopen Scandal just got worse.

The Oversight Project broke the story about the Biden autopen scandal wide open after they discovered thousands of acts of clemency and executive actions were signed with an autopen rather than a wet signature.

Earlier this year, the Oversight Project revealed six criminals were pardoned by Biden’s autopen on December 30, 2022, while Joe Biden was vacationing and golfing in St. Croix.

Joe Biden defended the use of an autopen in a quick interview with the New York Times.

The New York Times also reviewed some of the emails that the National Archives handed over to the Trump DOJ as part of their investigation into the autopen scandal.

The emails revealed that Biden’s staffers made decisions to sign the pardons with the autopen without directly hearing the orders from Joe Biden.

Joe Biden told the New York Times that he “orally granted all the pardons and commutations issued at the end of his term” and lashed out at President Trump as a “liar” for claiming the autopen was used without his authorization.

“I made every decision,” Biden insisted during his phone interview with The Times.

According to The Times, staff secretary, Stefanie Feldman, put the clemency records through the autopen.

It was revealed that Joe Biden did not approve of each name for the pardons – AND after changes were made about the specific inmates, Biden did NOT sign off on the revised list. Rather, his aides just ran the final version through the autopen without Biden’s approval.

“Mr. Biden did not individually approve each name for the categorical pardons that applied to large numbers of people, he and aides confirmed. Rather, after extensive discussion of different possible criteria, he signed off on the standards he wanted to be used to determine which convicts would qualify for a reduction in sentence,” The New York Times reported.

“Even after Mr. Biden made that decision, one former aide said, the Bureau of Prisons kept providing additional information about specific inmates, resulting in small changes to the list. Rather than ask Mr. Biden to keep signing revised versions, his staff waited and then ran the final version through the autopen, which they saw as a routine procedure, the aide said,” according to The Times.

Additionally, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zeints actually approved pardons for Dr. Fauci and others on January 19:

At the Jan. 19 meeting, which took place in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House residence, Mr. Biden kept his aides until nearly 10 p.m. to talk through such decisions, according to people familiar with the matter.

The emails show that an aide to Mr. Siskel sent a draft summary of Mr. Biden’s decisions at that meeting to an assistant to Mr. Zients, copying Mr. Siskel, at 10:03 p.m. The assistant forwarded it to Mr. Reed and Mr. Zients, asking for their approval, and then sent a final version to Ms. Feldman — copying many meeting participants and aides — at 10:28 p.m.

Three minutes later, Mr. Zients hit “reply all” and wrote, “I approve the use of the autopen for the execution of all of the following pardons.”

The Oversight Committee, chaired by James Comer, opened an investigation into the autopen scandal and subpoenaed several Biden aides for documents and testimony.

Jill Biden’s Chief of Staff Anthony Bernal skipped his deposition. White House physician Dr. O’Connor pleaded the Fifth Amendment at least 10 times last week and refused to answer questions about Joe Biden’s health decline.

Ex-Biden official Neera Tanden recently admitted under oath to the House Oversight Committee during a closed-door testimony on Tuesday that she was one of the aides who controlled Joe Biden’s autopen.

Director of Domestic Policy Council Neera Tanden was brought before the Committee last month and admitted she was authorized to use Joe Biden’s autopen between October 2021 to May 2023.

According to the Washington Examiner, Neera Tanden testified that she was also authorized to direct the autopen; however, she denied manipulation or abuse.

Additionally, Neera Tanden admitted she would utilize the autopen without actually verifying from Joe Biden himself that it was an authorized action.

France Opens Criminal Investigation into Elon Musk’s X Over Alleged Algorithm Bias and Foreign Interference

Credit: Fox News Screenshot

France has launched a criminal investigation into Elon Musk’s social media platform X over allegations that the company manipulates its algorithm to engage in “foreign interference.”

The investigators are also examining whether the social media platform has been extracting data from users in a fraudulent manner.

Magistrate Laure Beccuau announced the investigation on Friday.

The Bastille Post Global reports:

In January, the cybercrime unit of the Paris prosecutor’s office received two formal complaints, submitted respectively by a member of the French parliament and a senior official at a French public institution, Beccuau said, adding that both complaints alleged that X’s algorithm had been exploited for the purpose of foreign interference.

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed in February that it was examining these complaints, before announcing on Friday that it had opened the investigation “based on verifications, input from French researchers, and information provided by various public institutions.”

Laurent Buanec, CEO of X France, stated on the platform in January that X “has strict, clear, and public rules aimed at protecting the platform from hate speech,” adding that it “fights disinformation” and that its algorithm “is designed to avoid recommending hateful content.”

According to a report by French newspaper Le Monde, the whistleblower suspects that X has manipulated its content recommendation algorithm to deliberately amplify far-right content and increase the visibility of specific candidates during recent elections in Europe.

The alleged crimes are classified as serious cybercrimes under the French Penal Code and carry a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of 300,000 euros, according to the report.

Neither X nor Musk has publicly commented on the investigation.

PURE GOLD: A Bathroom? Debbie Wasserman Schultz Says Inmates at Alligator Alcatraz Are Being Forced to “Brush Their Teeth Where They Poop” (VIDEO)

Screenshot

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) apparently doesn’t poop in the bathroom, or she doesn’t brush her teeth in the bathroom. It’s not quite clear. Hopefully, it’s the latter.

On Saturday, the Florida Democrat toured the illegal alien detention center at Florida’s Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport, known as “Alligator Alcatraz.”

Democrats visited the facility, which they called an “internment camp” on Saturday, and they were appalled at the conditions, which sound just about how one would expect a prison is.

Wasserman Schultz revealed to the press, not-so-shockingly, that the aliens detained at this prison “brush their teeth where they poop in the same unit.”

WATCH:

Wasserman Schultz: They essentially drink, they get their drinking water, and they brush their teeth where they poop in the same unit. They bragged that they went above standards, supposedly, and gave them a three foot privacy wall that stretches the length inside the 32 detainee cage, a three foot privacy wall that stretches the length of the three toilets in a row.

The showers provide no privacy at all. There are no curtains on it. It’s a big, open shower unit. There are, you know, small walls in each shower.

For the record, they don’t brush their teeth in or drink out of a toilet, but in a sink, which is somehow “attached” to the toilet, she said.

It’s a prison for illegal aliens, many of whom are rapists, murderers, and designated foreign terrorists, not a luxury retreat.

The facility, which opened earlier this month at the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis, is surrounded by Florida’s natural defenses, including alligators, pythons, and dense swampland in the Florida Everglades.

President Trump confirmed to reporters before touring the facility on July 1 that the concept of the facility is for alligators and pythons to eat potential escapees. “I guess that’s the concept,” he said.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump joked that “we’re going to teach them how to run away from an alligator.”

WATCH: Rapper 50 Cent Mercilessly Trolls Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs AGAIN With AI-Generated ‘Baby Oil’ Video

As Diddy awaits sentencing, 50 Cent keeps trolling hard.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been acquitted of the most serious charges of sex-trafficking and racketeering, but convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, and remains in prison awaiting his October sentencing that – the prosecution insists – may see the disgraced mogul remain behind bars for years to come.

Meanwhile, in the court of public opinion, a battle is still raging between Diddy’s fans and detractors.

Among those critical of the fallen mogul, rapper 50 Cent has consistently trolled Diddy like there’s no tomorrow. And he has now escalated significantly the feud with an AI-generated video going viral online.

Daily Mail reported:

“As the date crept nearer, 50 fired up his Instagram page this weekend to post a wild AI-generated video that took a sly dig at the stash of baby oil the authorities discovered during a raid of Diddy’s Los Angeles home.

In the clip – which 50 credited to the Instagram account @Geisha305 – a glistening Diddy is seen walking a fashion show runway, modeling a pink dress with a Johnson & Johnson baby oil logo splashed across the front.

The video was set to rapper Jody2Good’s song Baby Oil Freak Off Party, a track about Diddy that was released last year after his arrest.”

50 cent has also trolled Jay Z.

LOL! “Ready to Flee NYC?” – Vivek Ramaswamy to Debut Billboard in Times Square Urging New Yorkers to Flee Zohran Mamdani and Move to Ohio

via @TheOnlyDSC on X

Vivek Ramaswamy is set to debut a new billboard ad in Times Square, New York, on Monday, urging New Yorkers to flee Socialist Democrat Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani before it’s too late.

Ramaswamy, the entrepreneur and former Department of Government Efficiency co-head, is running for Governor of Ohio with President Trump’s backing.

Ramaswamy left his role as co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) shortly after Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025, reportedly to pursue his gubernatorial campaign. It came shortly after he made controversial comments on X about American culture and his support for H-1B visas for foreign tech workers, which sparked extreme backlash among Trump supporters.

He wrote, “The reality is we have a culture in this country that often celebrates mediocrity over excellence… We celebrate the prom queen and the quarterback and the class clown far more than we celebrate the kid who’s in the library or the garage obsessing over math, or science, or computer code.” He claimed this cultural tendency produced a “national shortage of talent” in fields like engineering and technology, and therefore argued H-1B visas are needed to bring in skilled foreign workers.

He made his political debut with a bid for the White House last election cycle.

Pro-Ramaswamy super PAC, “Vivek Super PAC — Victors, not Victims”, is behind the new $50,000 ad blitz in the Big Apple. The PAC has reportedly raised $17 million for Vivek’s gubernatorial bid.

Whether or not you support Vivek, this is clever.

Another graphic on the billboard reads, “worried about Zohran? Ohio is waiting for you!”

Per the New York Post:

Andy Surabian, chief strategist to VPAC, told The Post that concerned New Yorkers should move to a state “that is about to elect a conservative trailblazer committed to liberty and prosperity for all.”

“While Mamadani will further crush New York City with his job-killing socialist tyranny, Vivek is ready to unleash freedom, supercharge the American dream and make Ohio a state of excellence,” Surabian said.

“We put this billboard up because we couldn’t think of two politicians in the country that represent such wildly different paths for the future of our nation. The Mamdani path of socialist totalitarianism versus the Vivek path of American freedom,” he continued.

“For those New Yorkers who have had enough, freedom and prosperity are waiting for you in Ohio.”

The billboard will reportedly be displayed all week.

Alarming Report: Current Secret Service Director Sean Curran Signed Off on Unacceptable Security Plan the Day Before Butler Rally Where Trump Was Nearly Killed

Official Portrait of Secret Service Director Sean Curran Credit: United States Secret Service

The current Secret Service Director allegedly failed to take proper steps to safeguard President Donald Trump’s life before the fateful Butler, Pennsylvania rally, according to an alarming new report.

As TGP readers know, an assassination attempt was made on Trump’s life exactly one year ago today. A bullet fired by Democrat Donor Thomas Crooks grazed the president’s ear during the rally.

Corey Comperatore was fatally struck in the head. Two other rally attendees were wounded, one critically.

Crooks fired the shot on top of a nearby building, where Secret Service counter-snipers had a clear view of the shooter from their position at a higher elevation than the shooter behind Trump, yet they did not act. Crooks accessed the building with a ladder he bought at Home Depot the same day as the shooting.

Sean Curran, who was serving as the head of Trump’s security detail, helped shield the President from the bullets and appeared in the iconic photo of Trump after the assassination attempt. Curran was hailed as a hero</> following the incident.

He also supposedly cleaned house immediately upon taking over the agency, winning over more Americans.

Now, a startling revelation from Real Clear Politics National Correspondent Susan Crabtree alleges that Curran and two others gave the green light to the unacceptable security plan that gave Crooks an open shot at Trump.

How did Team Trump miss this?

From Crabtree:

Who signed off on the Butler security plan the day before the Butler rally, even though there were discrepancies on how the AGR building roof would be covered in the plan?

Would you be surprised to learn it was: Sean Curran, the head of the Donald Trump campaign detail, along with a supervisor for the Butler rally on his same Donald Trump detail, Nick Menster, and an inspector who was acting in a supervisory role, Nick Olszweksi, sources in the Secret Service community tell me.

All three got big promotions after Butler. Curran is obviously the Secret Service director, Menster is the No. 2 on the Lara and Eric Trump detail, and Olszweski, is ironically in charge of the Inspections Division, which falls under the Office of Professional Responsibility and ironically is charged with maintaining accountability and integrity for all USSS operations.

Moreover, Curran was responsible for promoting the two, and all three have escaped discipline. Crabtree then highlights an interesting fact from a Homeland Security Committee report on the assassination attempt, which was authored by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY): the details on these disciplinary actions were hidden from the committee until Paul issued a subpoena for them on July 1, 2025.

Under a Trump-appointed director, no less.

This startling news comes after Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) revealed yesterday there was a credible threat against Trump’s life 10 days before the Butler rally.

“NEW GAO REPORT IM RELEASING says Secret Service knew of a threat 2Pres Trump’s life 10 DAYS b4 Butler but didnt share info w staff on the ground so they were unprepared Rpt identifies Sct Service problems+ recommends fixes This info NVR wld hv been made public w/o CONG OVERSIGHT,” Grassley wrote on X.

Trump Steals Show at World Club Cup Soccer Final — Joins Celebrations With Chelsea Players! (VIDEO)

Screenshot / Club World Cup

President Trump stole the show at the final of the World Club Cup on Sunday evening.

The tournament, which was held across the United States in anticipation of the 2026 World Cup, was on the London-based Chelsea FC.

Chelsea defeated French team Paris Saint-Germaine by a three goal margin, adding to the club’s long list of silverware.

However, social media was abuzz with images of President Trump, who was tasked with handing out medals to the players at the tournament’s end.

As Chelsea prepared to lift the trophy, Trump got caught in the moment and ended up sharing the podium with the victorious players.

The president was accompanied by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who has previously organized the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and Russia.

Watch the clips below:

The images will come as a massive blow to many involved in English soccer, who over recent years have attempted to turn the sport into an engine for left-wing propaganda.

In the wake of the death of drug addict George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, players were forced to “take a knee” before matches and even wear the words “Black Lives Matter” on the backs of their shirts.

Yet with the World Cup returning to America next year, some of the sport’s progressie authorities will have to hold their nose and play ball—on and off the field.

Trump, meanwhile, is a master at vanquishing his enemies — including those he did not even know he had.
