Donald Trump Jr. spoke with Charlie Kirk at the 2025 Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida, on stage on Friday. They discussed numerous topics, including the one-year anniversary of the Butler, PA, assassination attempt. The topics also discussed included President Trump’s America First agenda.

“Last week, the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ was finally passed and signed into law, and one of the components of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill,’ the most important, fully funding ICE, fully funding the deportation effort. What would your perspective be?” Kirk asked.

“Talk about the need for mass deportations and how we will not put up with any amnesty whatsoever,” Kirk said.

“It’s so fundamentally critical. I mean, it was really the number one issue we all campaigned on. We see what happened, what it did to so much of America. What it did to so many communities,” Don Jr. said.

“The ‘Big Beautiful Bill,’ the funding of the wall, the funding of ICE is so fundamentally important,” Don Jr. said.

“Now you’ve got 20 million people, probably, imagine, they don’t even know, just getting in there, getting all the benefits. You know the benefits that you guys pay for, for yourselves, that your parents probably paid for, for all of you guys. They get that with no contribution to the system and that was by design under the Biden administration,” Don Jr. continued.

Don Jr also explained that he was in disbelief that a civilization could last with the catastrophic open border statistics under the Biden regime.

“When I saw the statistics, I literally couldn’t believe that a civilization could survive, our western values, our culture, the civilization itself,” Don Jr. said.

“600,000 criminals, 13,000 murderers, I mean, think about that, 13,000 murderers were let into the country. They knew they were murderers, and they let them into the country,” Don Jr. said.

“What is the end game there? That’s what was going on,” Don Jr. asked.

“The end game is Laken Riley, and the end game is Rachel Morin, which is dead people all across the country because of the open border,” Kirk warned.

Don Jr. also explained that the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ was very important regarding tax cuts for average Americans.

“His fundamental purpose is to make sure that those real Americans, the hardworking Americans, have seen their wages diminish with inflation; we are getting that under control, too, but those who were really struggling the last few years, actually get to see the benefits of these cuts,” Don Jr. said.

“It’s gonna be about the Americans, about getting them the most benefit out of this, and that’s how everyone wins,” Don Jr. continued.

First, remember the name Dr. Kirk Moore- a wonderful, courageous doctor on trial for his life. President Trump did something amazing today. He saved Dr. Moore’s life.

More on this amazing, one-in-a-billion Trump decision later in this column.

I know. I know. I was upset by the Epstein List announcement too- just like you. Just like the entire MAGA base.

And I aired the disappointment, disillusion and disapproval of MAGA Nation in a commentary here at The Gateway Pundit on Wednesday.

The response was overwhelming. My commentary was one of the most heavily trafficked and commented of my career.

I also personally received several hundred emails- and every one of them was positive. Every one of them thanked me for sticking my neck out to say what they were feeling, and what needed to be said. 100% agreement- that was a first in my long career.

So, I understand full well the pain and disappointment the Epstein decision has caused in the MAGA/America First movement.

Let’s keep the pressure up. I know my great friend, President Donald J. Trump. He will respond. He will find a compromise. At the very least, he will explain the decision.

But we all need perspective.

One issue- no matter how important- is not the whole enchilada. Let’s not lose sight of the victories piling up. President Trump is relentless. He moves mountains. He makes the impossible, POSSIBLE. Against all odds, one by one, he keeps knocking down the dominoes. He is remarkable, he is courageous, he is superhuman. He is the greatest president of my lifetime.

But, for those of you who ask, “What’s he done so great for us lately?”

Just one example- although I could quote hundreds. Joe Biden (and his boss Obama) tried to destroy America. They did a damn good job of it.

Under Joe Biden every net job in America for four years went to foreign-born citizens. American born citizens did not gain one net job. In other words, all the workers being hired were foreign born, and probably 90% of those were illegal aliens.

We might as well have put up signs that said, “No work for Americans.”

Just this past week, we found out that every net job gain in America since Trump’s 2nd term started has been for American-born citizens.

So far, Trump has created two million jobs for Americans, while foreign-born workers have lost over half a million jobs. What a difference a president makes!

Just this past May and June, American-born workers gained 833,000 new jobs, while foreign-born workers lost 348,000 jobs. Isn’t that the very definition of making America great again?

Thanks to President Trump, America and American workers are first again!

But what President Trump did just this morning is even bigger news. President Trump just did something historic…something wonderful…maybe a first in presidential history.

He listened. Then he did the right thing. How many times has that happened in presidential history?

Dr. Kurt Moore has been on trial for his career and his life this week. He faced 35 years in prison- probably a death sentence. For what, you might ask?

He was a prominent Utah doctor who decided to help his patients. He fought Covid vaccine tyranny. He risked his medical license to save lives. As opposed to thousands of doctors who merely follow orders, asked no questions, and did whatever the corrupt FDA, CDC and AMA (all owned by Big Pharma) ttold them to do.

And of course, as a bonus, these “Stepford Wives” doctors who followed orders- even if it killed or crippled their patients- were rewarded with $1 million bonuses for the number of Covid vaccines they gave to their patients.

Dr. Kirk Moore didn’t want that “blood money.” He turned down millions in bonuses.

But this doctor went a step further. He gave out vaccine cards to patients who didn’t want the vaccine, but wanted to keep their jobs, without also playing Russian Roulette with their lives.

For this “crime” – for refusing to enforce a criminal mandate (it violates the Nuremberg Code) for an experimental, untested vaccine that patients did not want in their bodies, Dr. Moore faced 35 years in prison. The case of course was brought by the Biden regime (and his boss Obama). Yet under Attorney General Pam Bondi, the trial moved forward.

I decided it was time to bring this injustice to the attention of President Trump.

On Friday, I posted the following tweet on all my social media- hoping to catch President Trump’s attention…

You should be watching my podcast right now. I explained main reason Pam Bondi had to go- and it’s NOT lies about Epstein file. She made decision to persecute & prosecute Utah MD who saved countless lives by giving out fake Covid vaccine cards. The man is a hero. He saved their lives. They asked him for help. They didn’t want to die to keep their jobs. They didn’t want their children to die in order to go to school. He hurt no one. He should get highest award in America for his courage. As opposed to all the MDs in America who killed their patients so they could get $1 million bonus at end of year. He is hero. Bondi is trying to send him to prison for 35 years. Fire Pam Bondi.

I spent almost my entire two hours on my national podcast yesterday passionately ranting about this horrible injustice, and explaining that this goes against every freedom President Trump stands for (and was elected for). This trial represented medical tyranny versus medical freedom.

Dr. Kirk Moore is a courageous hero, not a criminal to be persecuted by Big Brother for standing up to Big Pharma.

Then this morning we got the great news. All charges were dismissed by President Trump, AG Pam Bondi and the Trump DOJ.

This happened mid-trial. Have you ever heard of anything like this? Has it ever happened in history? Has a President ever weighed in mid-trial to dismiss all charges against a hero being persecuted by government?

Never. Only President Trump.

So, while no one should fear criticizing our president if we disagree, all of us should take this time to thank our president for being one-in-a-billion. For listening to the people. For being bold enough to reverse course. For doing the right thing.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz spoke to parliament on July 9, stating that diplomatic means for resolving the Russia-Ukraine war “have been exhausted.” He followed by reaffirming his commitment to assist Kiev.

The statement comes on the heels of the failure of the recent Russian-Ukrainian peace talks in Istanbul, which failed to reach any progress toward ending the war. The embattled nations came to a new agreement on prisoner exchanges.

According to the Guardian, Merz went on to say, “When a criminal regime openly questions another country’s right to exist with military force and sets out to destroy the political order of freedom on the entire European continent, the federal government I lead will do everything in its power to prevent this.”

Merz’s comments follow Vladmir Putin confirming his readiness for a third round of peace talks, in which he suggested that both countries discuss details of their peace memorandums, which remain “absolutely opposite.” Putin hopes that these talks could bring the nations closer to finding agreeable terms.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov hopes that the next round of talks will be a direct meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, who has been notably absent in the previous talks, preferring to send lower-level officials.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is working toward bringing Zelenskyy and Putin together, with President Donald Trump potentially joining the talks, which he has affirmed his openness toward attending.

Putin said on June 27 that it was “quite possible” that a meeting between him and Donald Trump could take place.

Diplomatic tensions persist between Kiev and Moscow, but diplomacy has been ongoing. Merz appears to be escalating these tensions while diplomatic channels are still open, with Turkey willing to facilitate them.

Merz went as far as to condemn members of his Parliament, affirming his commitment to Ukraine “even against the pressure of the political left and the pro-Russian right in this house.”

German support for Ukraine is critical for their war effort, as the United States has shifted its focus to its own military readiness, pausing arms shipments to Ukraine. Trump, however, has ordered the resumption of some supplies, especially Patriot interceptors that Ukraine needs against increased missile attacks from Russia.

Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) leader Alice Weidel attacked Merz for breaking election promises while posturing abroad and leaving the reins of domestic politics to his party’s junior coalition partner, the Social Democrats.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused Germany of deepening its involvement in the conflict, warning the country risks repeating historical mistakes leading to its own downfall. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also condemned Germany’s actions, accusing Berlin of competing with France to escalate the war.

Merz’s aggressive rhetoric may affect the negotiation table, as Russia considers the implications of European hostility and heightened arms supplies. Russia so far has been dedicated to maintaining this four-year conflict, and it’s uncertain if European hawkishness will make Putin reconsider his resolve in this war.

Pennsylvania House Democrats are attempting to stop the bipartisan Senate-approved Save Women’s Sports Act by bizarrely sending the bill out of the Education Committee to the Health Committee in what Republicans exposed as a rule manipulation to disenfranchise female athletes.

The GOP-led bill, SB 9, was passed in the State Senate in early May with five Democrats voting in favor. The bill has since stagnated in the House Education Committee since May 7, says Republican Committee Chairman Bryan Cutler.

According to a press release from Pennsylvania Senate Republicans, “The measure will ensure athletic teams designated for women are reserved for biological females in Pennsylvania’s K–12 and collegiate sports.”

It can be recalled that President Trump signed a landmark executive order in February, which ensured that biological men could not compete in women’s sports. The “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” EO directs the Department of Education to enforce Title IX based on biological sex, threatening to withhold federal funding from educational institutions that allow transgender women to compete in women’s sports.

However, Democrats in the State House are stonewalling a final vote, which was expected as soon as next week.

Per the Daily Signal:

State Rep. Peter Schweyer, the Democrat chairman of the Pennsylvania House Education Committee, steered the effort to delay the floor vote. Republicans led by state Rep. Barb Gleim had gathered enough signatures on a discharge petition to have a House floor vote on the legislation, potentially by next week. That was until Schweyer moved to re-refer the legislation to the House Health Committee on Tuesday.

The committee ultimately voted along party lines to re-refer the bill to the health panel, with 14 Democrat legislators in favor of the motion and 12 Republican state representatives against it. That vote ensures that the bill will sit without a full House floor vote for at least another 15 legislative days per the Pennsylvania state Legislature’s rules. The state House currently has a Democrat majority of just one vote (102 to 101).

GOP State Rep. Barb Gleim told The Gateway Pundit, “Women and girls in competitive sport don’t deserve to have their future opportunities passed around like a cold towel on a hot practice day. SB 9 ensures that Title IX as it was originally intended is adhered to in PA. It’s time to take the vote before fall school sports begin.”

Ahead of the vote on Tuesday, Gleim accused Democrats on the committee of “silencing the voices of countless women and girls who compete in sports in Pennsylvania.” She added, “We should not be re-referring this bill because there is an executive order from the federal government and our president to be adhering to the rule of law.”

“By voting to re-refer Senate Bill nine, we’re delaying justice for girls,” Rep Joseph D’Orsie said, as he slammed Democrats for “prioritizing the delusions of some over the privacy, safety, and welfare of millions of girls in the Commonwealth.”

“These are daughters like my seven-year-old girl, granddaughters, nieces, and friends, girls who deserve safe and equal fields and courts. A vote to re-refer and further delay the consideration of SB9 is a vote against women and girls. It’s a vote that blatantly discriminates against our girls. It’s a vote that peels back Title IX protections that so many have fought for,” D’Orsie continued.

Rep. Milou Mackenzie called out the lunacy and obvious delay techniques by Chairman Schweyer, saying, “I don’t see what it has to do with the Health Committee, actually. Girls’ sports take place in our schools and in our higher education institutions. So, I do not see it being out of line with being in the Education Committee, and I see no reason why it should go anywhere else.”

After several Republican legislators condemned the idea of arbitrarily moving the legislation to the Health Committee, Schweyer admitted, “we had a conversation internally, and speaking with the majority Chair of Health, there’s a— we decided that this would be a better, more appropriate place to consider this legislation.”

Rep. Stephenie Scialabba responded, calling the explanation a “de facto admission that there is no purpose beyond strategic manipulation of rules,” asking the Democrats, “how are any of you able to sleep at night?”

GOP Chairman Bryan Cutler further called out the Democrats’ delay tactics, noting the motion to re-refer was contemperanous with Rep. Gleim indicating that she will bring a discharge resolution to force the bill to the floor. “By re-referring to another committee, it will simply restart another 15-day waiting period. I want to make it very clear, regardless of which committee this goes to, it will restart the clock so that the girls and women in sports will have to wait another 15 days before this issue could be taken up,” he said. “It’s time that we stand with our female athletes in Pennsylvania. They not only deserve a fair shot on the field, I believe that they are have earned a fair vote and a full vote on the House floor, not a vote to re refer to another committee.”

Still, the Democrats voted unanimously against women and girls to re-refer the bill, continue to allow men to compete in women’s sports, and jeopardize federal funding for schools for at least 15 more days.

Upon passage in the House, the bill will go to Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro’s desk for his signature.

More than 2,000 unidentified flying objects have been spotted across the United States in just the first six months of 2025, according to data from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).

This marks a significant uptick from the 1,492 sightings logged in the same period last year.

The NUFORC, a nonprofit dedicated to collecting and investigating these mysterious reports, tallied exactly 2,174 sightings from January through June 2025. That’s slightly higher than the 2,077 reported in early 2023, signaling a potential escalation in unexplained aerial phenomena (UAPs), the government’s preferred term for what many believe could be extraterrestrial visitors or advanced secret tech.

Witnesses have described a wide array of shapes and behaviors that defy conventional explanation, such as glowing orbs zig-zagging at impossible speeds, massive triangle-shaped crafts hovering silently over homes “the size of a tennis court or a football field,” metallic discs, cigar-like objects, and even shape-shifting lights that accelerate sharply or make right-angle turns.

The Hill reports:

Whistleblower David Grusch came forward in 2023, alleging a secret UFO-retrieval program was being operated by the Pentagon. His testimony sparked congressional hearings and increased public attention to the issue of unexplained sightings.

Since then, others connected with the government have come forward to support Grusch’s claims, saying the Defense Department has not been honest with the public or Congress about the subject.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon has remained firm in saying that there is no evidence unexplained sightings are extraterrestrial in nature and disavowing the existence of UFO-retrieval programs.

NUFORC’s chief technology officer, Christian Stepien, estimates that only about 5 percent of actual sightings ever get reported, due to lingering stigma and fear of ridicule.

“There are so many things being seen by so many people. And if it’s a secret block project, you’re not flying it over highly populated neighborhoods where everybody can see it, and even these days, have pictures of it,” Stepien said, according to The Hill’s report.

In an emotional interview on Saturday, Helen Comperatore, the wife of Corey Comperatore, reflected on the murder of her husband at a Trump rally during the failed attempt on President Trump’s life on July 13, 2024. 

Would-be assassin Thomas Crooks was able to climb on top of a roof next to Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania rally and put Trump in his scope.

A bullet grazed President Trump’s ear on July 13, 2024, during his Pennsylvania rally. Corey Comperatore was fatally struck in the head. Two other rally attendees were wounded, one critically.

Comperatore dove in front of his family to shield them from the gunfire.

Crooks fired the shot on top of a nearby building, where Secret Service counter-snipers had a clear view of the shooter from their position at a higher elevation than the shooter behind Trump, yet they did not act. Crooks accessed the building with a ladder he bought at Home Depot the same day as the shooting.

Additionally, as The Gateway Pundit reported, an eyewitness told the BBC that several people witnessed the shooter crawling on the roof of a local building with a rifle before Trump was shot, but they did not act until Trump was shot. According to later reports, a police officer encountered the shooter on the roof but let him go after he pointed the gun at him and before he shot Trump.

Investigations into the matter have left more questions than answers. For example, former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s excuse for leaving the building unmonitored by agents was that the building “has a sloped roof at its highest point” and it wouldn’t be safe.

Helen Comperatore questioned, “Why was that such a failure that day? What was the reason? Why did he walk around for an hour without someone grabbing him?”

“We have no answers,” she said. “I want to sit down with the Secret Service, and I want them to tell me everything that happened that day. I want to know why they failed. I want to know what happened.”

Comperatore: I’m really right at the beginning where I was back a year ago. You know, we really haven’t, haven’t healed that much. You know, we have no answers. So, you know, I miss him just like I did last year. I want to sit down with the Secret Service, and I want them to tell me everything that happened that day. I want to know why they failed. I want to know what happened. Why Butler?

Why was that such a failure that day? What was the reason? Why did he walk around for an hour without someone grabbing him? He was a wonderful human. He was just the best dad, the best. He was the best husband. I mean, he was just a wonderful man. He he would help anybody, anybody. He’d give you his last dollar. You know, he would have helped that kid.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, six Secret Service personnel connected to the Trump assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, last July were finally suspended without pay earlier this week as the one year anniversary of their epic failure approaches.

A new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report reveals that the Secret Service during Biden’s presidency did not alert the team responsible for securing Trump’s July 13, 2024, rally, where an assassination attempt was made, despite being made aware of a threat against Trump’s life ten days prior.

More questions still remain.

Per the report:

Prior to the July 13 rally, senior-level Secret Service officials became aware of a threat to then-former President Trump. This information was not specific to the July 13 rally or gunman. Nonetheless, due to the Secret Service’s siloed practice for sharing classified threat information, Secret Service and local law enforcement personnel central to developing site security plans for the rally were unaware of the threat. According to Secret Service officials, this information was not more broadly shared across the Secret Service because in part, the information was highly classified, and the Intelligence Community did not include information at a lower classification level to share. However, the Secret Service’s siloed information sharing practices, such as requesting that only personnel within an individual’s chain of command be briefed on threat information, contributed to members of the advance team not receiving relevant information. Making changes to Secret Service policies to require it to proactively share threat information internally could help ensure its agents and partners will have information needed to provide effective protection

Further, sharing threat and risk information could also help ensure resource decisions are based on identified risks. Secret Service’s resource allocation process is not currently set up to comprehensively consider all known risks. Implementing a process that does so can help ensure security asset decisionsare based on need and not ad hoc actions outside of a formal process.

Per Fox, other key findings from the GAO report include:

• Ten days before the event, high-level Secret Service officials were briefed on a classified threat to Trump. “Once those officials reviewed the intelligence, they could have then requested that personnel within their chain of command be briefed on the specific information.” Officials failed to share this information, leaving federal and local law enforcement entities planning and staffing the event unaware of the active threat, including members of the Donald Trump Protective Division. Local law enforcement officials told the GAO they would have requested additional assets for the Butler rally, had they known.

 

• The Secret Service agent who was responsible for “identif[ying] site vulnerabilities,” was new to her role. The Butler event was “her first time planning and securing a large outdoor event as the site agent.”

 

• At the time of the Butler event, the Secret Service lacked a formal policy for communicating a protectee staff’s requests for changes to security plans. A Trump campaign staffer had asked the Secret Service advance team, who was unaware of the active threat to Trump, not to use large farm equipment to address line-of-sight concerns near one of the buildings so as not to interfere with campaign press photos. The advance team complied, a decision which may have given Crooks a clearer shot at the stage from his rooftop perch.

 

• Secret Service officials denied the Donald Trump Protective Division’s request for enhanced counter Unmanned Aerial Surveillance (cUAS) equipment at the Butler event, as “these resources had already been allocated for the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.” Fortunately, senior officials with knowledge of the threat against Trump stepped in to approve counter sniper assets for the rally, a decision which was described as “inconsistent” with agency practices for making resource decisions.” Absent this last-minute decision, Trump “would likely not have received the counter sniper assets that ultimately took out [Crooks],” the GAO wrote.

President Trump put the European Union and Mexico on notice on Friday that they will begin paying steep tariffs to the United States on August 1.

The President has sent letters to a number of countries in recent days, imposing additional tariffs that are set to be paid starting on August 1.

In letters to both the EU and Mexico, dated July 11, the President told them that they will face 30% tariffs on all imports to the United States.

He threatened both parties that if they decide to retaliate and raise their tariffs, “whatever the number you choose to raise them by, will be added onto the 30% that we charge.”

Trump posted the letters to his Truth Social on Saturday morning.

In his letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President Trump emphasized his commitment to maintain a trade relationship “despite having one of our largest Trade Deficits” with the EU.

“We invite you to participate in the extraordinary Economy of the United States, the Number One Market in the World, by far,” he said, noting that “there will be no Tariff if The European Union, or companies within the EU, decide to build or manufacture product within the United States.”

In his letter to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, the President highlighted the ongoing threat posed by Mexican drug cartels, crediting America’s fentanyl crisis to Mexico’s “failure to stop the Cartels.”

“Mexico has been helping me secure the border, BUT, what Mexico has done, is not enough. Mexico still has not stopped the Cartels who are trying to turn all of North America into a Narco-Trafficking Playground. Obviously, I cannot let that happen!” Trump said.

“If Mexico is successful in challenging the Cartels and stopping the flow of Fentanyl, we will consider an adjustment to this letter. These Tariffs may be modified, upward or downward, depending on our relationship with your Country.

Trump has spent the past week bringing his trade war back to a roaring boil. He kicked it off by issuing dozens of letters announcing unilateral tariffs, then said he planned to impose 50% duties on copper goods, sending prices of the raw metal to all-time highs. Late Thursday, he announced he would apply a blanket tariff of up to 20% on all imports, as well as a 35% tariff on some, and perhaps all, Canadian importsstarting next month.

The letters come as the many trade deals that Trump administration officials had said would be signed have failed to materialize, leaving Trump with little to show for weeks of negotiations.

While Mexico was spared from Trump’s so-called “Liberation Day” tariff rollout on April 2, the 30% rate for the E.U. is 10% higher than what the president said he would apply to America’s largest trading partner in April but lower than his mid-May threat of 50%.

The 27-member European Union is the United States’ largest trading partner — its $605 billion worth of imports into the U.S. surpassing Mexico, Canada and even China. The most valuable category was drugs and pharmaceuticals, followed by autos and aircraft and other heavy machinery. Trump has already threatened to impose a 200% tariff on any drugs imported into the U.S., though it would not be applied for at least 18 months.

Ursula von der Leyen reportedly said in a statement that “few economies in the world match the European Union’s level of openness and adherence to fair trading practices,” and that the EU will impose retaliatory tariffs “if required.”

French authorities raided the headquarters of the National Rally (RN)—the most popular party in France by far—on Wednesday as part of an investigation into alleged campaign finance violations.

The Paris prosecutor’s office is examining whether the RN financed its campaign in part with illegal loans from individuals to the party between 2020 and 2024.

“This spectacular and unprecedented operation is clearly part of a new harassment campaign,” said the party’s leader Jordan Bardella. “It’s a serious attack on pluralism and democratic transition. An opposition party has never suffered such persecution under the Fifth Republic.”

The police and investigating magistrates seized electronic communications and accounting data, but according to Bardella the judiciary has also taken unrelated material, including documents pertaining to the party’s electoral activity and files concerning RN campaigns.

Prosecutors will also look into allegations that the RN inflated or potentially faked invoices in its claims for state reimbursement of campaign finances. Offices and homes of several company executives were also searched.

Despite the show of force with 20 police officers sent to RN headquarters, prosecutors said that there have been no charges and the probe is still ongoing.

The raid came just a day after EU financial prosecutors in Brussels launched an investigation into the alleged misuse of €4.3 million by a now-defunct European Parliamentary Group, Identity & Democracy (ID), which the RN was a part of.

The raid marks another blow to RN’s electoral aspirations after Marine Le Pen was convicted in March of embezzling EU funds and barred from running for office for five years, effectively scuttling her presidential ambitions.

Le Pen is seeking to appeal the decision at the Paris Court of Appeals before the elections in 2027, with the ruling due by next summer. Le Pen is poised to be a frontrunner according to recent polls. Jordan Bardella is also topping the polls, so RN has an alternative should Le Pen not overturn the ruling.

European governments along with the EU are increasingly using lawfare to marginalize conservatives, eroding democratic institutions while claiming to be guardians of democracy. The police raid on the RN is another addition to the long list of actions taken against opposition parties, but it is unlikely to damage their surging popularity.
