Chile’s Right Brawls for the Country’s Future

Chile’s Right Brawls for the Country’s Future

Round one of the upcoming presidential election will feature one candidate from the left and four from the right.

Jose Antonio Kast, former Member of the Chamber of Deputies

Campaign season is well underway in the South American country of Chile, which is closing in on the first round of its presidential election in mid-November. This election is particularly unusual, with four of the five major candidates in the running coming from the Chilean right.

The past five years have been chaotic for Chile. Frustration with the high cost of living and the poor condition of public services led to a massive wave of protests and generalized social unrest in late 2019 and early 2020 and subsequently to the election of the left-wing youth movement darling Gabriel Boric, leader of the democratic socialist party Frente Amplio and the youngest ever Chilean president.

Boric came into office with a popular mandate to rewrite the Chilean constitution along broadly left-wing lines. The resulting document, a cumbersome affair that totalled nearly 400 articles, was a reductio ad absurdum of Millennial intersectionality, enshrining special privileges to every identifiable minority identity group and sporting a ludicrous Bill of Rights containing—among a very many other propositions—a “right to progressive autonomy of children and adolescents”, a “right to consumption and respect for it”, and a “right to a digital space free of violence”. The document was thoroughly rejected by the public in the constitutional referendum, 62 percent against to 38 percent in favor.

A second attempt to rewrite the constitution led to yet further confusion, when the right-wing Republican Party dominated the elections to the Constitutional Council. This draft of the constitution, which was dominated by conservative priorities, was also rejected by the public in 2023, albeit by the narrower margin of 56 percent against to 44 percent in favor.

The Chilean populace has proven unimpressed by Boric and his social democrats’ management of the country, which has been characterized by identitarian excesses and anemic economic growth. With Boric’s approval rating hovering just above 20 percent, the political momentum has moved sharply rightwards. The 2025 election appears now to be just a question of which right-wing movement will be given charge of the country.

The favorite to win both the right-wing vote and the election is José Antonio Kast, leader of Chile’s Republican Party and the boogeyman of the secular Chilean left for the past decade. Kast, of German extraction, courted controversy by publicly declaring his support for the dictator Augusto Pinochet, whose popular legacy in the country is decidedly mixed. “If he were alive, [Pinochet] would vote for me,” Kast proclaimed.

A devout Catholic with nine children, Kast’s political approach is decidedly that of the social conservative: Opposition to abortion and gay marriage are key planks in the Chilean Republican Party’s platform. This makes him a favorite with not only fellow Catholics but also with the small but powerful bloc of Evangelical voters—a group that is only growing as a proportion of Chile’s population. Much of Kast’s stump appeal to the non-religious, though, is his strident opposition to illegal immigration and his advocacy for harsh measures against crime to secure public order.

The center-right’s postulant for the presidency is Evelyn Matthei, a fixture of Chilean right-wing politics since Chile’s return to democracy in 1989. Matthei, an economist by education, eschewes the hard social conservatism of Kast’s Republican Party and offers a vision of governance focused on economic development that appeals to the upper-middle class Chilean right. Matthei promises to overhaul the Chilean tax system and create a million new jobs, tempting voters who have shown themselves unhappy with Chile’s recent lack of economic growth. Her advocacy for same-sex marriage and legalizing abortion in cases where the health of mother is deemed at risk make her a more attractive option for Chile’s secular urban population, but she lacks the aggression, and therefore the perceived toughness, of her male competitors—a difficult situation in an election where law-and-order is a key concern for the electorate.

Academic-turned-politician Franco Parisi rounds out the already battle-tested candidates of the right. Parisi powered to third place in the 2021 election despite campaigning only virtually from the United States, a better-than-expected showing that is generally attributed to the populist appeal of his open disgust for the Chilean political class, which he denigrates as a passel of corrupt liars whose only interest is lining their own pockets. This anti-establishment rhetoric won his party a small but solid showing in legislative elections, but its ideological incoherence and lack of organization led to all six of its representatives in the chamber of deputies to resign, a performance that has probably reduced his appeal.

His policy proposals maintain a consistent focus on reducing government waste and fraud, improving the cost-of-living for Chileans, and extreme measures to crack down on illegal immigration and crime—he has even proposed placing anti-tank mines along the border to prevent criminals from bringing vehicles across illegally. Parisi considers himself a social liberal, but has little interest in the cultural issues of either the right or left.

The dark horse of Chilean politics is the magnificently-named Johannes Maximilian Kaiser Barents-von Hohenhagen—popularly known as just Johannes Kaiser—who represents the growing strain of the Chilean right influenced by neighboring Argentina’s President Javier Milei. Originally a member of Kast’s Republican Party, Kaiser left and founded the National Libertarian Party in 2024 after deciding that Kast and his followers were too enamored with state action. Kaiser combines a radically minimalist approach to government with fierce opposition to immigration both legal and illegal and a pointed cultural conservatism.

Kaiser remains an unlikely prospect for this November, generally polling around 10 percent of the vote, but the success of Javier Milei’s La Libertad Avanza in Argentina is a promising sign for the young libertarian’s future political career.

Standing essentially alone against the four candidates of the Chilean Right is Jeannette Jara of the Communist Party of Chile, former minister of labor under President Boric and now sole candidate for the majority of the Chilean left. Jara prevailed in a primary election held among the major left-wing Chilean political parties. Her principal appeal to the Chilean public is the institution of a universal basic income program to supplement Chile’s welfare state, along with the continuation of many of President Boric’s left-wing social programs. Polling at less than 30 percent against a deeply divided right, Jara will have a steep battle to make the second round of voting competitive.

After a promising beginning under the young and idealistic Gabriel Boric, the shine has worn off of socialism in Chile. Now the right will have its chance at the presidency.

New York City Projected to Spend $42,000 Per Student This School Year – And Their Reading and Math Scores Are Terrible

School children in classroom – public domain photo – no known restrictions

New York City is poised to spend an eye-popping $42,000 per student this school year, the highest figure in the country.

Some people might think this is a reasonable figure if New York City schools were also the top performing schools in the country, but they are not, not even close in fact. The city’s schools get terrible grades for reading and math.

How many parents in the NYC area do you suppose could do better by taking that $42,000 and spending it on a private school for their children, or even a full time home tutor? Don’t you think many parents would choose one of those options if they were available?

The New York Post reports:

NYC DOE projected to spend $42k per student this school year — the most in the country

The city Department of Education will spend a staggering $42,168 per student this school year, budget experts project, even as enrollment declines and student achievement stalls.

The record sum is nearly $2,000 per student more than the DOE spent last year, according to the nonprofit think tank Citizens Budget Commission. Students report to class Sept. 4.

The stunning figure is 36% more than the $31,119 the city spent per pupil just five years ago…

Despite the vast sums poured into the nation’s largest school system, student proficiency in English language arts and math continues to lag behind the rest of the state and country.

The “Nation’s Report Card” released by the National Center for Education Statistics in January revealed that just 33% of Big Apple fourth graders scored proficiency in math and 28% in reading on the National Assessment of Educational Progress last year.

Older students’ results were worse – 23% of city eighth graders met the national standards in math and 29% in reading.

This is one of the reasons why school choice is growing as a hot issue in the United States right now. There has to come a certain point where failing public schools just don’t make sense anymore, especially when you consider the cost versus the results.

If you’re spending $42,000 per student and they end up being unable to read at grade level, what are we even doing here?

Senator John Kennedy Slams Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker: ‘Even the Mafia is Leaving Chicago Because of Crime’ (VIDEO)

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana recently appeared on FOX News and was asked to respond to liberal criticisms of Trump’s crackdown on crime.

Kennedy pointed out the obvious, that crime in Washington, DC is way down because of Trump’s actions. He also notes that this is not a difficult issue. No one like crime, except maybe criminals.

Finally, Kennedy took a shot at Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who is vowing to fight Trump’s efforts to curb crime in Chicago, suggesting that ‘even the mafia is leaving Chicago’ because of crime.

Transcript via RedState:

Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m against crime. I think most Americans are, unless they happen to be a criminal or they happen to be like a rock, only dumber. It’s also a fact that over the last five or ten years, many of our major cities in America are worse. If you measure it in terms of crime and violence and education, poverty, family formation, it’s easiest, not easy, but it’s easiest of the problems I’ve just mentioned to deal with crime.

And it’s working. We’ve sent in law enforcement officials to Washington. Crime violence is down. I don’t understand Governor Pritzker’s pushback. He’s got a crime problem in Chicago. I mean, even the mafia is leaving Chicago because of the crime. I suspect Governor Pritzker, he seems to view random violence as preferable to having help from federal officials coming in.

And I think it’s probably because of his animosity toward President Trump. If President Trump came out in favor of breathing to survive, Governor Pritzker would probably hold his breath.

Watch the video below:

Senator Kennedy always has a way with words! The point he makes is correct as well. Chicago crime is out of control and the city would benefit from any help Trump could give through the federal government.

MSNBC Panel Talks Banning All Firearms After Trans Shooter Targets Catholic School: ‘Do What Australia Did’

MSNBC host Katy Tur, on Wednesday, led a panel following the Annunciation Catholic School shooting that inevitably discussed a gun ban.

MSNBC host Katy Tur, on Wednesday, led a panel following the Annunciation Catholic School shooting that inevitably discussed a gun ban.

When modern liberals casually reveal their true authoritarian natures, believe them.

They did it during the COVID scare, when they embraced lockdowns, masks, and vaccine mandates. And they do it in the wake of every mass shooting.

Rarely, however, do they go as far as journalist Mike Spies of the anti-gun outlet The Trace.

Wednesday on MSNBC, Spies appeared in a round table discussion with host Katy Tur and others. Earlier in the day, a transgender murderer had opened fire at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, killing two children and injuring 17.

Thus, the panelists discussed the shooting and how to prevent such violence moving forward. Naturally — this being MSNBC — they focused on the weapons and not the mental-health crisis at the root of transgender ideology.

“You have to be honest and say what will actually work, which is what nobody wants to hear, which is that there are just simply way too many firearms, and they are way too accessible,” Spies said.

“And they’re too powerful?” Tur asked.

“And they’re too powerful,” Spies replied, “even handguns too. Again, that’s why in Australia — it doesn’t matter if it’s not politically acceptable to say it. I’m not here as a politician or anyone who works in politics. I’m a journalist — whether or not you like it, the only thing that really works, if you really wanted to bring down gun violence, was to do what Australia did and to do what many other countries in Europe do.”

Spies, of course, did not have the integrity to say the full truth out loud. Had he done so, he would have used the word “confiscation.”

Liberals sometimes refer to Australian-style gun confiscation as if it represents their beau ideal for remaking American society.

In 2023, for instance, then-Vice President Kamala Harris spoke of Australia’s 1996 mass civilian gun confiscation in glowing terms.

Of course, freedom-loving American citizens know that the Second Amendment protects us first and foremost from our own government. The Founding Fathers, looking to history rather than theory, recognized that all governments have tyrannical propensities if left unchecked.

Moreover, only an armed citizen can claim free status. In the end, if your government has disarmed you, then you enjoy your “liberties” at your rulers’ sufferance. That makes you a subject, if not a slave.

Many modern liberals hate this about the U.S. Constitution. They would prefer that you worship secular government because they imagine themselves in power. That explains why they stoop so low as to denigrate prayer itself.

Indeed, modern liberals hate the First and Second Amendments for the same reason that no leftist government in world history has ever expanded freedoms: They despise the people they wish to rule.

In short, when modern liberals speak of safety, they mean submission. They just rarely speak of the latter as openly as Spies did.

Florida Redistricting Could Lock Democrats Out for a Decade

Credit: Ron DeSantis/X

Florida has already emerged as one of the most influential Republican states in the country.

Now, state leaders are preparing to lock in that dominance with a new redistricting plan that could fundamentally alter the balance of power in Washington.

High-level sources inside Florida’s legislature confirm that lawmakers are moving forward with a proposal to redraw four additional congressional seats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The move reflects Florida’s rapid population growth, which continues to reshape the state’s political map. The redistricting effort is centered on key urban and suburban population centers, specifically around Orlando, Tampa, and parts of South Florida.

WATCH: TEXAS Democrat INDICTED — STOLE Thousands from TAXPAYERS with SIBLINGS

These areas have absorbed hundreds of thousands of new residents in recent years, many of whom migrated from deep-blue states like New York, California, and New Jersey.

Ironically, that migration has fueled the Republican surge, as conservative-leaning families seek refuge from high taxes and rising crime.

Currently, Republicans hold 20 of Florida’s 28 congressional seats, giving the party one of its strongest state delegations in the House.

Adding four new Republican-leaning districts would push that margin even further, potentially sending 24 Republicans to Washington from a single state.

For Democrats, who are already struggling to hold their narrow coalition together at the national level, such a development would represent a devastating setback heading into 2026.

Florida’s plan is not occurring in a vacuum. The state is projected to gain four to five additional congressional seats following the 2030 Census due to its explosive population growth.

That would give Florida close to 35 seats in the House, making it the third most powerful state in congressional representation behind only California and Texas.

In electoral college terms, this would further tilt the national map toward Republicans, as Florida’s electoral votes would climb from 30 today to as many as 34 by 2032.

Republicans are preparing to frame the 2026 midterms as a referendum not only on President Biden’s failed policies but also on whether the conservative state model works.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has already turned the state into a symbol of Republican governance, prioritizing low taxes, education reform, and law-and-order policies that stand in direct contrast to Democratic-run states.

The new congressional map will institutionalize those gains, ensuring that Democrats face an uphill battle for at least the next decade.

Democrats are expected to challenge the redistricting effort in court, as they have in the past.

But Florida’s Supreme Court now leans heavily conservative, and with the U.S. Supreme Court having recently signaled more deference to state legislatures on redistricting, Democrats have little room to block the plan.

The legal battles may delay implementation, but sources say Republican lawmakers are confident they will prevail in time for the 2026 elections.

For Republicans nationwide, the Florida strategy offers a roadmap: secure state legislatures, redraw districts to reflect shifting populations, and use redistricting to cement gains for a generation.

Florida’s aggressive move underscores how high the stakes are heading into 2026.

With four new Republican seats on the table—and more likely coming after 2030—Florida is set to become the cornerstone of the GOP’s House majority and an electoral college powerhouse.

IS SHE CRACKING? Virginia Dem Governor Candidate Spanberger Has Meltdown on Podcast: ‘Only Option is to Win Those F**king Seats!’ (VIDEO)

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

Abigal Spanberger, the Democrat candidate for governor of Virginia, recently appeared on a liberal podcast and had a meltdown about the redistricting issue that is unfolding in multiple states right now.

Spanberger appeared to be lamenting the fact that Virginia cannot do much about this issue, as it would have to go through a multi-election process there and it would be 2028 by the time anything took effect.

She emphasized the need for her to win and for Democrats to win the 2026 midterms, saying that the left’s only option is to ‘win those f**king seats.’

Transcript via Blue Virginia:

“I think that it’s important that we do fight fire with fire. But I’m also recognizing that in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the process that we have to make constitutional amendments, right? So, it was just a couple years ago that we went through a multi-year process to put a redistricting commission process within our state constitution.

We have to have an election…there has to be a vote in the General Assembly, then there has to be elections, then there has to be another election, then they vote again, and then it goes to the people. So, you know, even in the looking at this, if someone says, ‘OK, Virginia might be a possibility,’ that’s not till 2028 where there would actually be an impact on congressional elections. And I’m unwilling in Virginia to wait for 2028.

And so, it is the harder route, I’m not denying that, to say we’re going to fucking win those seats in the midterms by working hard and doing it. But in Virginia, that’s our only option. And frankly, like I think Democrats need to fight more and win more and actually ensure that people know what we are for because Republicans have to depend on redistricting and stealing votes and taking seats like they did in North Carolina in order to actually be able to win elections.

See the video below:

Spanberger is probably under tremendous pressure from her party to win the VA governor race in November. For weeks, it looked like it was her race but Republican Winsome Sears has surged in polling over the last ten days and the race is now nearly even.

Chicago’s Far-Left Mayor Brandon Johnson Signs ‘Protective Order’ to Try and Block Trump’s National Guard Deployment, Vows to ‘Take Any Action Necessary’

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order on Saturday, titled the “Protecting Chicago Initiative,” aimed at preventing the potential deployment of the National Guard by President Donald Trump to address the city’s rampant crime issues.

Johnson, a far-left Democrat, claims the order is necessary to defend residents’ constitutional rights amid fears of what he calls an “unconstitutional and illegal military occupation.”

The executive order comes as the Trump administration considers using Naval Station Great Lakes, a Navy base near Chicago, as a staging ground for immigration enforcement operations involving more than 200 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents.

Trump has been vocal about addressing Chicago’s crime woes, recently stating after deploying the National Guard to Washington, D.C., that his team would “straighten out” Chicago next, calling it “a mess” under an “incompetent mayor.”

“The City of Chicago will do everything in our power to defend our democracy and protect our communities. With this executive order, we send a resounding message to the federal government: we do not need nor want an unconstitutional and illegal military occupation of our city,” Johnson said in a statement.

“We do not want military checkpoints or armored vehicles on our streets and we do not want to see families ripped apart. We will take any action necessary to protect the rights of all Chicagoans,” the mayor continued. “Protecting Chicago is the next step in the work we have been doing to defend our city from federal overreach and illegal action.”

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:

According to the initiative, the Chicago Police Department would remain a city agency and urges federal law enforcement to abide by city laws on policing. Johnson threatened legal action if they didn’t. This would include barring officers from concealing their identities with masks, making them use active body cameras during engagements, and requiring them to wear identifying information such as badges and uniforms, and also stating CPD will not work with federal or military units in the city.

The order reaffirms that the Chicago Police Department will stay under local control and explicitly calls on Trump to “stand down” from any National Guard threats.

“I do not take this executive action lightly,” Johnson said. “I would’ve preferred to work more collaboratively to pass legislation … but unfortunately we do not have the luxury of time. We have received credible reports that we have days, not weeks, before our city sees some kind of militarized activity by the federal government.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, another Democrat, has also opposed federal intervention despite Trump’s success in Washington, DC.

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said in a statement to News Nation, “If these Democrats focused on fixing crime in their own cities instead of doing publicity stunts to criticize the President, their communities would be much safer. Cracking down on crime should not be a partisan issue, but Democrats suffering from TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome] are trying to make it one.”

“They should listen to fellow Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser who recently celebrated the Trump Administration’s success in driving down violent crime in Washington DC,” Jackson said.

Bowser recently praised the Trump administration’s success in reducing violent crime in the nation’s capital after similar federal actions.

Joy Reid Admits to Being DEI While Wearing a “F*ck Donald Trump” Hat (VIDEO)

Joy Reid has openly defended the principles of DEI, considering them legitimate tools to promote structural diversity and political representation without regard for meritocracy. However, her statements, made while wearing a symbol of hatred against President Trump, demonstrate her far-left activism and her support for a policy born from the WOKE movement, whose sole objective is to place people by force in important positions or universities, using political ideology, gender, or race as the main pretext instead of meritocracy.

HUD Secretary Scott Turner to BOOT ILLEGAL ALIENS from Section 8 Housing — Proof Of Citizenship Now Required For All Tenants

Screenshot: Fox News

The Trump administration is putting illegal aliens on notice: taxpayer-funded housing is for AMERICANS, not for those who broke the law to come here.

On Friday, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner announced that all Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) nationwide have 30 days to conduct audits verifying the legal status of every single tenant in Section 8 housing and other HUD-funded programs.

The first housing authority to face scrutiny is Washington, D.C., where Turner confirmed that the DC Housing Authority has already been put on notice, according to Fox News.

More than 3,000 PHAs across the nation are receiving the same marching orders. If they fail to comply, Turner warned, they risk losing federal funding.

Turner revealed that only 1 out of 4 eligible American families currently receives HUD assistance due to past administrations turning a blind eye to illegal alien abuse.

In a blistering letter to every Public Housing Authority (PHA) in America, Turner laid down the law: within 30 days, all housing agencies must provide a full and complete accounting of every tenant living in HUD-funded housing.

That means names, mailing addresses, number of bedrooms, the cost of each unit, and most importantly, proof of American citizenship or legal immigration status.

The letter reads:

“Today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is taking another direct and forceful action to steward taxpayer dollars wisely and end the subsidization of open border policies in HUD-funded programs and policies.

Within 30 days of receipt of this notice, HUD is requesting that every Public Housing Authority (PHA) provide a full and comprehensive accounting of all tenants who are receiving a Section 8 voucher and/or residing in HUD-funded housing.

HUD is requiring the name, mailing address, number of bedrooms, the cost of the unit, and proof of American citizenship or eligible immigration status as defined by the law. This information is required by law and this administration is upholding the law to its fullest extent.

No longer will illegal aliens be able to leave citizenship boxes blank or take advantage of HUD-funded housing, riding the coattails of hardworking American citizens.

Currently, HUD only serves one out of four eligible families due, in part, to the lack of enforcement of prohibition against federally funded assistance to illegal aliens.

HUD will leverage all available enforcement actions against entities who do not comply with the request for citizenship information, including, but not limited to, examination of HUD funding and/or evaluation of PHA program eligibility.”

JD Vance TORCHES Politico for Attack on Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Calls It ‘Journalistic Malpractice’ and a ‘Foreign Influence Operation’ to Hurt the Trump Administration

Vance defends Witkoff and the US-Russia peace process.

Ever since the historic US-Russia summit in Alaska between Donald J. Trump and Vladimir Putin, the MSM has doubled down in their relentless efforts to sabotage the peace process – a working relationship between the nuclear superpowers is everything that Euro-Globalists and Neocons fear for the future.

One of the ways that the western press tries to destroy prospects for peace in Ukraine and renewed US-Russia ties is by attacking the Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

The reason is simple: he is very effective, so he must be painted as a Putin stooge or something to this effect.

And that’ s what Politico’s Felicia Schwartz did yesterday:

Vice President JD Vance came out swinging after that, with a long, scathing post that merits publication in its entirety:

JD Vance on X:

“This story from Politico is journalistic malpractice. But it’s more than that: it’s a foreign influence operation meant to hurt the administration and one of our most effective members.

Notice how all of the people attacking Steve are on background? That means it’s two or three deep staters who are angry that Witkoff has succeeded where they’ve failed.

You know what this ‘reporter’ left out to make room for anonymous quotes?

The full quote from the sitting vice president, on the record.

A quote from the secretary of the state, on the record.

A quote from Jared Kushner, on the record.

The full quote from the UK’s Jonathan Powell, one of the most respected national security people in the Western World, who defended Steve vigorously from these malicious smears.

The person who wrote this garbage is @felschwartz

Aside from the failure to include on the record information directly contradicting her reporting, I wonder if she ever asked herself why these anonymous sources came to her at this moment with this particular story. They have an agenda to blow up the president’s efforts to make peace, and they saw her as a useful vessel to launder garbage into the conversation, truth be damned.

There are two possible explanations: Felicia is just not very smart, and allowed herself to be used by deep state con men. Or she’s in on it, and used her position to willingly participate in a literal foreign influence operation. Either way, it’s disgraceful.

To set the record straight: Steve Witkoff is an invaluable member of our team. He did not mislead anyone on what the Russians told him and what the Russians conceded. (Trust me, I’ve seen the intel.) The fruits of his negotiations are that we have narrowed the list of open issues in the Russia-Ukraine war to a set of clearly defined issues–specifically, security guarantees and territorial concessions.

Maybe we make peace, and maybe we don’t. If we do, it will be because Steve Witkoff and the President of the United States worked their tails off, in the face of outright lies from the mainstream press.”

Vance: ‘Steve Witkoff is an invaluable member of our team’.

Russian CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, and Special Envoy of the President of Russia for investment and economic cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev also joined the chorus to defend Witkoff and bash the deep state Globalists that fear the peace process.
