A brave American hero was brutally murdered on Easter morning in a senseless act of violence in North Carolina, and authorities are seeking public help in hopes of identifying the person responsible.

As WECT reported, Wilmington police responded to reports of fighting in the downtown area at roughly 2 am Sunday. There, they found that two people had been stabbed.

One of the victims was 21-year-old Daniel Montano, a United States Marine. He had been stabbed in the neck and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, Montano later died from his injuries.

WECT obtained a statement from the 2nd Marine Division, based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, confirming that Montano had passed away.

2nd Marine Division can confirm that at approximately 2:00 a.m. on April 5th, a Marine was injured during an altercation in Wilmington, NC, and as of April 6th, has unfortunately passed away due to the injuries sustained.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Marine’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Below is a local report on the incident:

Police are looking for an adult Black male with a medium build for questioning. WECT reports he was last seen wearing a light-colored fleece-lined denim jacket, light-colored denim pants, a pink shirt, and white sneakers with blue and red streaks.

WHQR notes that one video that has gone viral on social media shows a man bleeding badly after being stabbed in the neck, while another man removes his t-shirt and tries to save the victim’s life.

WECT confirmed the video was taken on Sunday morning, suggesting that the victim in the footage is Montero.

Officers, though, do not appear to provide first aid to the stabbing victim. A woman can be heard screaming “Oh, my God” several times.

The outlet notes that, according to the Wilmington Police Department’s policy manual, the first officer on the scene of a significant crime must locate and assist injured individuals. Other officers should also be able to provide appropriate assistance when necessary.

District Attorney Jason Smith told WECT on Tuesday that he had reviewed the video and did not believe the officers committed a criminal act.

For that reason, Smith said he hadn’t contacted the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) about a probe into the officers.

WATCH: Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger Runs Away from Reporter Asking If She’ll Finally Turn Violent Criminal Illegal Aliens Over to DHS

Democrat Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger was caught on camera running away from a reporter asking about whether she would reverse her sanctuary policies and begin cooperating with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to remove dangerous illegal aliens from the state.

Spanberger turned away without comment as a reporter pressed her on Fairfax County’s sanctuary policies and repeated calls from federal immigration authorities.

The reporter specifically asked about discontinuing sanctuary practices in light of DHS data showing that three out of every four murder defendants in Fairfax County murder trials this year are illegal aliens.

WATCH:

DHS has directly urged Spanberger to end policies that shield criminal illegal aliens.

In an April X post, the agency stated, “Of the four defendants in Fairfax County murder trials this year, THREE are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Governor Spanberger must end her sanctuary policies that allow these illegal aliens onto our streets and work with DHS to protect the citizens of the commonwealth.”

One of Spanberger’s first official actions after taking office was to terminate all 287(g) agreements in Virginia.

These agreements had allowed state and local law enforcement to partner with ICE to identify and hand over criminal illegal aliens in custody.

Spanberger has also supported legislation that would further restrict local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, including requirements for judicial warrants before honoring ICE detainers.

Fairfax County, a known sanctuary jurisdiction, has seen a string of high-profile violent crimes allegedly committed by illegal aliens under Spanberger’s tenure.

In February, Stephanie Minter, 41, was stabbed to death at a bus stop by Abdul Jalloh, an illegal alien from Sierra Leone with more than 30 prior arrests.

Fairfax County officials released him despite an ICE detainer.

In March, Misael Lopez Gomez, who illegally crossed the border in July 2023, was accused of murdering his three-month-old daughter. DHS issued a detainer requesting that he not be released.

“This cold-blooded killer murdered his own three-month-old daughter. We are calling on Governor Spanberger to commit to not releasing this barbaric animal from jail into Virginia communities,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This monster should have never been allowed in our country by the Biden administration. We need cooperation from sanctuary politicians to stop criminals from being released from jail to perpetrate more crimes and create more innocent victims.”

Also in March, Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, a Guatemalan illegal alien, was charged with second-degree murder after repeatedly stabbing a man.

DHS has highlighted multiple other killings linked to illegal aliens in Fairfax, including a mob murder and MS-13-related executions.

The agency has stated that illegal aliens accounted for 75% of murder defendants in the county this year.

DHS has repeatedly called on Spanberger and Fairfax officials not to release these individuals back into communities, citing the county’s refusal to honor over 1,150 ICE detainers in recent years.

A new Washington Post-Schar School poll shows Spanberger’s job approval rating at just 47% approve to 46% disapprove after only a few months in office, the highest early-term disapproval rating for any Virginia governor since polling began in the 1990s.

Critics argue that her shift from a centrist campaign image to left-leaning governance on issues such as immigration and redistricting has alienated her constituents.

The Orion spaceship is headed for home.

NASA Astronauts Christina Koch, Victor Glover and Reid Wiseman, as well as Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Jeremy Hansen, are returning home after the first lunar mission in half a century.

Artemis II completed the history-making moon orbit on Monday (6), having reached the record distance of 252,756 miles away from Earth.

The crew is now heading back toward Earth.

Fox News reported:

“The Artemis II crew on Tuesday successfully initiated its Return Trajectory Correction Burn (RTCB), a key maneuver used to fine-tune Orion’s path back to Earth during the mission’s return leg.

Orion’s thrusters ignited at approximately 8:03 p.m. ET, marking the first of three planned trajectory correction burns. Artemis II crew confirmed that “they also saw a good Return Trajectory Correction 1 burn,” mission control said.”

The Artemis II crew is expected to land in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego on Friday.

Yesterday, a historic call took place between the Artemis II and crew and the astronauts aboard the International Space Station, a conversation that NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman described as filled with ‘touching moments’.

“The milestone exchange came during a 15-minute, audio-only call between the Artemis II crew — Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Canadian crewmember Jeremy Hansen — and the orbiting ISS crew, including NASA astronauts Jessica Meir, Jack Hathaway and Chris Williams, along with Sophie Adenot of the European Space Agency.”

But the most moving moment of the mission was probably one that had to do with memories of a loved one.

Now this should be making headlines.

For several days it has not been clear who President Trump and his administration is holding talks with from Iran. The US took out 40 top leaders in military strikes the first weekend of fighting. It is not clear how many top officials have erased since the fighting started in later February.

On Wednesday, President Trump aannounced that “Iran has gone through a very productive regime change!”

Please tell us more, Mr. President.Tweet from Donald J. Trump discussing U.S. cooperation with Iran on nuclear issues, including regime change, uranium enrichment, and sanctions relief, dated April 8, 2026.

President Trump: The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change! There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear “Dust.” It is now, and has been, under very exacting Satellite Surveillance (Space Force!). Nothing has been touched from the date of attack. We are, and will be, talking Tariff and Sanctions relief with Iran. Many of the 15 points have already been been agreed to. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Understanding the Iran Ceasefire

Understanding the Iran Ceasefire

It beats “a whole civilization will die,” anyway.

WH Briefing Iran 4/6/26

No shortage of surprises around here. President Donald Trump, less than half a day after announcing his intention to destroy “a whole civilization” if the Iranians didn’t reopen the Hormuz, declared via Truth Social that the Pakistanis had brokered a two-week ceasefire on the premise that the Iranian 10-point framework is a “workable basis” for a peace deal.

This is a bit of a headscratcher to everyone who has actually seen the Iranian framework, which, among other things, asserts the Islamic Republic’s right to uranium enrichment, institutionalizes an Iranian–Omani toll system in the Hormuz, and demands immediate sanctions relief. The rollout of the ceasefire was itself extremely strange: a choreographed-looking request on Twitter from the Pakistani prime minister and a quick acceptance from Trump on the strength of negotiations that nobody has actually been sure are actually happening. But, assuming all goes well, the war is on pause today, and that is in itself a good thing.

The Iranian media are spiking the football about how this is an American “retreat” and so on and so on (and on and on: The prose style of Persian TV is pretty longwinded). And, if Trump is actually sincere about the use of the 10-point framework, they may be forgiven for seeing things that way; if the final deal is within sniffing distance of the framework, it concedes several American redlines of yesteryear and throws in some extras that weren’t even on the table before the war started, like Iranian suzerainty in the strait.

Here is the analytical sticking point, and there are three ways of interpreting it, each unsatisfactory in its way. First option: Trump doesn’t know what is in the Iranian framework and negotiations will bog down as soon as the team in Islamabad gets around to reading the one-pager. There is some recent history of the American team not really seeming to grok negotiation premises, but the 10-point framework is not highly technical or ambiguous. Second option: The negotiations are in bad faith on the American side. The last two rounds of diplomacy with the Iranians have been nothing more than a way to buy time to move military assets into range for a surprise attack. On the other hand, it isn’t immediately clear this time what concrete measures we would take with the time so bought. Third option: The cost of the war was, by Trump’s lights, becoming untenable relative to its benefits, and cutting a deal that concedes much to the Iranians is better than chasing losses. This is a tacit admission that the war was a strategic loss, even as it was a military victory; the question is whether the administration can use the latter to spin away the former in selling this to the public.

Of course, the ceasefire does not exist in a vacuum. Israel is engaged in a ground war in Lebanon, the cessation of which is one of the Iranians’ 10 points; so far from pulling back, they have decided to dub it “Operation Eternal Darkness” and to start pulverizing Beirut under that auspicious moniker. (The Iranian government is already threatening to withdraw from the ceasefire over this.) Various reports have suggested that the Netanyahu government is uninterested in a ceasefire, and it is difficult to believe that they will just go along with it this time. The U.S. has real difficulty telling the Israelis to go play by themselves, so, even if negotiations are serious and in good faith, the context for a peace deal is not encouraging. At the same time, it seems simply true that the costs of continuing are disproportionate to any notional gains, and reality has a way of making itself heard.

This war has been very stupid. So far from prompting regime change (which, let us recall, was in fact literally one of the selling points for this war in the president’s own words, which is why he has to keep insisting that “regime change” has already happened), the clerisy and IRGC remain intact and in control; Iran now exerts de facto (and perhaps soon de jure) control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the arteries of the world economy, which it was not doing on February 27; Iran continues to have the ability to launch missiles and drones at its neighbors and American assets. Our bases and radar systems across the Middle East have been immolated, our munitions have been depleted, and we have cannibalized our force posture in East Asia. So when the usual suspects start tooting about how this war was a great triumph, fine, let them, if that’s what it takes to get them to sign on to the peace; but you are under no obligation to believe a lie. Nor are you under any obligation to take them seriously in the future. Don’t get fooled again.

Vance supports Orbán and rejects Zelensky’s threats

Vance deems Zelensky’s threats unacceptable.

US Vice President JD Vance is outspoken about the Donald J. Trump administration’s support for Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán and has condemned Ukrainian regime leader Volodymyr Zelensky’s threats against him.

Vance said yesterday (7) that Ukraine’s president had made ‘scandalous’ comments about Orbán, and reinforced Budapest’s claims that Kiev is using energy supplies to influence the Hungarian elections.

Watch Vance’s reaction to Zelensky’s threat against Orbán:

Reuters reported:

“Vance’s remarks came during a visit to Budapest aimed at boosting the chances of the nationalist Orban, who faces the toughest challenge of his 16-year rule in an April 12 election seen as crucial for the influence of supporters of Donald Trump’s MAGA movement in Europe.

Hungary’s strained relations with Ukraine have taken center stage in the election campaign, with Budapest accusing Kiev of deliberately stopping flows of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline in an effort to sway the ballot.”

“Hungary responded by blocking a 90-billion-euro ($105 billion) EU loan for Ukraine, prompting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to say he could give the address of whoever was responsible to the Ukrainian army, who could ‘speak with him in their own language’.”

Vance said he only became aware of the Kiev regime leader’s threats after Orban told him.

“’It’s completely scandalous’, Vance said. ‘You should never have a foreign ‌head of government… threatening the head of government of an allied nation’.”

Baseball players from opposing teams engage in a brawl on the field as spectators watch in the background.

The 2026 MLB season’s first major brawl exploded Tuesday night during the Atlanta Braves’ 7-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium.

Soler and López were former teammates in Atlanta during the second half of the 2024 season.

The incident occurred in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Braves leading 4-2.

Atlanta starter Reynaldo López threw a high-and-inside fastball that flew toward Angels designated hitter Jorge Soler’s head and tipped off catcher Jonah Heim’s mitt.

Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel was able to steal second base during the confusion.

Soler, who had already hit a homerun off López in the first inning and been hit by a pitch in his second at-bat, took strong offense to the pitch.

After a tense staredown, the two players exchanged words.

Soler later told reporters through a translator that he asked López “if everything was OK” and “the answer he gave me, I didn’t like it.”

That prompted Soler to charge the mound.

Both players immediately began throwing punches.

López, still holding the baseball in his right hand, landed a blow that knocked off Soler’s batting helmet.

WATCH:

Bullpens from both teams emptied onto the field, and Braves manager Walt Weiss, who managed Soler during his time with Atlanta, tackled the slugger from behind to stop the fight.

Umpires quickly booted both Soler and López from the game.

As of Wednesday morning, MLB has not yet announced suspensions, but both players are widely expected to face multi-game bans for the fight.

Disgraced Democrat NC Lawmaker Hit With New EIGHT Child Sex Charges — May Face LIFE IN PRISON After Allegedly Meeting Minor on ‘Grindr’

Former North Carolina State Rep. Cecil Brockman (D-District 60)

The Democrat party’s “values” are on full display once again, and it is absolutely sickening.

Disgraced former North Carolina State Representative Cecil Brockman, a Democrat, has been slammed with eight child sex charges, including multiple counts that each carry the potential for life in prison.

As The Gateway Pundit first reported back in October 2025, this predator Democrat was initially arrested and charged with multiple felony child sex crimes after allegedly preying on a 15-year-old boy he met on the gay dating app Grindr.

Brockman reportedly lived with the underage victim, used his official position as a state lawmaker to try to track the teen down after he went missing (even calling 911 himself), and police later found disturbing videos on the boy’s phone linking Brockman to the acts.

Brockman resigned in disgrace shortly after his arrest to avoid an expulsion vote, but the hits just keep coming.

Now, fresh indictments have piled on even more serious charges. According to court records and local reports, Brockman is now staring down eight total child sex-related felonies, with at least four counts of statutory sex offense with a child, each one punishable by life behind bars.

WXII 12 News reported:

Brockman appeared before a judge on Monday in court. He’s facing four new charges of statutory sex offense with a child. Brockman asked for a court-appointed attorney during his appearance.

[…]

Brockman was charged with two felony counts of statutory sex offense with a child and two felony counts of indecent liberties with a child. Brockman’s attorney at that time, Alec Carpenter, claimed that you must be 18 years old to use Grindr and Brockman didn’t realize the victim was underage. A clearly agitated Brockman claimed his innocence during a Nov. 3 bond hearing.

Appearing in court via video monitor, Brockman said,

“I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY LIES ARE BEING ACCEPTED WITHOUT THERE BEING A REBUTTAL TO THOSE LIES. I WOULD AT LEAST LIKE TO TALK TO MY ATTORNEY SO I COULD TELL A REBUTTAL TO ALL THE LIES THAT THE STATE IS SUGGESTING.”

[…]

Brockman could face life in prison for any one of the four new charges. His next court date is in May.

Iran’s New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Reportedly UNCONSCIOUS, Being Treated for ‘Severe’ Medical Condition — Completely Incapable of Running the Terrorist Country

Cleric with glasses and a black turban, seated indoors, displaying a serious expression during a meeting or discussion.

Now the mask is completely off.

Multiple international reports now indicate that Iran’s newly installed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is unconscious and suffering from a severe medical condition, leaving him effectively unable to govern.

According to a diplomatic memo obtained by The Times, the 56-year-old son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is lying incapacitated in the city of Qom.

He is “unable to be involved in any decision-making by the regime,” the assessment states bluntly.

The Times reported:

Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is incapacitated and receiving medical treatment in the holy city of Qom, according to an intelligence assessment which suggests he is not capable of running the country.

A diplomatic memo understood to be based on American and Israeli intelligence and shared with Gulf allies suggests that Khamenei, the son of the killed long-time leader Ali Khamenei, is unconscious and being treated for a “severe” medical condition.

The memo, seen by The Times, reveals the supreme leader’s location for the first time. The central city, 87 miles south of Tehran, is considered sacred in Shia Islam.

“Mojtaba Khamenei is being treated in Qom in a severe condition, unable to be involved in any decision making by the regime,” it reads.

[…]

Iran has confirmed that the new supreme leader was wounded in the same airstrike that killed his father, his mother, his wife Zahra Haddad-Adel, and one of his sons on the first day of the war that has since inflamed the region.

This comes as no surprise to Gateway Pundit readers. We have been reporting for weeks on the mysterious disappearance of Mojtaba Khamenei, the “Invisible Ayatollah,” amid rampant speculation that he was badly wounded, possibly disfigured, or even in a coma following the heroic U.S.-Israeli strikes that obliterated his tyrannical father and dozens of top regime thugs back in late February.

Mojtaba was rumored to have “lost a leg” and was nowhere to be seen as Iran’s clerical establishment desperately tried to prop him up as the new face of the Islamic Republic. President Trump himself confirmed the man was “damaged” but “probably alive in some form,” while mocking the entire clown show.

Trump Says His Rage Against NATO ‘Began With Greenland’

Donald J. Trump

The US may be about to leave NATO, leaving it a weakened ‘paper tiger’.

The geopolitical conflicts of the last few months shed light on the rising tensions between the United States and the countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Addressing the present situation inside the security alliance, US President Donald J. Trump said back on Monday (6) that his recent outrage with NATO began with the controversy over Greenland.

Politico reported:

“’It all began with, if you want to know the truth, Greenland’, Trump said during a White House press conference. ‘We want Greenland. They don’t want to give it to us. And I said, ‘bye, bye.’

The remark revives a dispute that rattled transatlantic ties in January, when Trump threatened to take control of the self-ruling Danish territory before backing down after an agreement was struck. The episode sparked alarm across Europe, with Denmark reportedly preparing contingency plans in case of a U.S. invasion of the island.”

As you can read in: NATO Allies? Denmark Prepared to Destroy Greenland’s Airfields & Sabotage Key Infrastructure Amid Fears of US Takeover.

Donald Trump stands in profile beside three men against a vibrant red background, highlighting a political or business context.
Without the US, NATO is nothing but a ‘paper tiger.’

Trump also accused his ‘allies’ of failing to support Washington during the Iran war.

“’I think it’s a mark on NATO that will never disappear’, he said, adding he was ‘very disappointed’ by the lack of military backing after several countries — including Spain — refused to grant access to bases or airspace, and European governments declined to send warships to secure the Strait of Hormuz.”

Trump mentioned the idea of pulling out of NATO last week, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio also said that the alliance is becoming ‘not a very good arrangement’ for Washington.
