The Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship in a 6-3 ruling on Tuesday.

Three conservative justices––John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett––joined Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Kentaji Brown Jackson in finding that the children of illegal aliens and temporary visitors are citizens under the 14th Amendment. 

President Donald Trump had signed an executive order on January 20, 2025 instructing departments and agencies not to issue U.S. citizenship to those born to temporary visitors or to those unlawfully present in the United States. The administration argued before the court that illegal aliens and temporary visitors were not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States—a phrase from the 14th Amendment—because they did not meet the original standard of complete, undivided allegiance to America. 

The court upheld its ruling in United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898) that the children of non-citizens received citizenship by fact of being born in the United States. 

Justice Clarence Thomas, in a 91-page dissent, argued that the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment was provided in the context of newly freed black slaves who “had no other homeland, owed no allegiance to any foreign power, and were subject to no other authority . . . The same could not be said for the children of foreign temporary visitors.” Justice Samuel Alito wrote that “the Court has made a serious mistake.”

US Attorney Jeanine Pirro discussed the vandalism of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Monday morning, revealing that at least 14 people have been cited for the damage and that her office is weighing charges that could carry up to ten years in prison. 

Large portions of the bottom have been ripped out, and several people have been arrested for the destruction since last week. The National Park Service is now asking for help in identifying at least one vandal who was seen in surveillance video allegedly “destroying and removing a piece of the lining and attempting destruction of the lining.”

The Interior Department released footage of the vandals last Tuesday.

The National Park Service has confirmed that the blue sealant at the bottom of the pool was vandalized and “cut with a sharp knife or razor” in recent court filings. It further confirmed plans to drain the pool and begin repairs after the Fourth of July.

US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced on Fox News this morning that US Park Police have now cited 14 individuals for destruction of government property.

“They’re coming into my office now. Make no mistake, if you vandalize anything in this district, we’re going to prosecute you, and if you destroy the reflecting pool, and if you create a problem that has long-term ramifications, we’re going to prosecute you,” Pirro said. “There’s no question about it!”

She added, “What we’ve got to do is make sure that we’ve got people who are able to find out about what’s going on, and the president is making sure we do that because now the enforcement is at a next level in terms of all of the monuments.”

Pirro said the consequences could range from ten years in prison to a misdemeanor, depending on the “level of damage.”

“We’re assessing those citations now as they come in,” she said. “We’re going to get these people; they’re going to be made accountable; we’re prosecuting them.”

A New York City landlord, Jude Jean Paul Bernard, has gone viral on IG after tearing into Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his commie voters who backed his rent‑freeze agenda, calling the policy “socialism at its best.” Mamdani had celebrated the Rent Guidelines Board’s 7–1 vote to freeze rents on both one‑ and two‑year leases for roughly one million rent‑stabilized apartments with a social‑media clip from his kitchen freezer, telling more than two million affected residents “your rent’s gonna be frozen next year.”

In his response video, Bernard opens by sarcastically trolling by congratulating renters for “doing it” and “getting the rent frozen” for the next two years, before warning that the victory is not what they think it is. “Now, that doesn’t mean that expenses have gone down,” he tells the audience, listing taxes, insurance, water and energy as costs that have not fallen even as revenues are capped by the city.

“If we were struggling to make the numbers before, I’m not sure how we’re going to fix that boiler, fix that broken elevator, and do all those things that you tenants deserve,” Bernard continues, arguing that the freeze leaves owners without cash to maintain buildings. He goes on to note that “the same city that just passed this rent freeze has also said that they will be taking distressed properties from bad landlords,” suggesting that officials are setting up a scenario where owners are first starved of income and then punished for failing to keep up with repairs. “So, you don’t have the money to fix the properties, but if we don’t fix the properties, you guys are going to take it away,” Bernard says, capping his monologue with the line, “I love it (sarcasm). Socialism at its best!”

Social media users responded all over the country by calling out the freeze as a “Marxist” and “communist” agenda and presents Bernard’s video as proof that freezing rents for more than two million residents is already backfiring on the city’s housing stock and private ownership. Bernard’s warning dovetails with broader landlord and trade‑group complaints that the freeze, while politically popular with commies, will mean deferred maintenance, more “distressed” buildings and potential foreclosures as operating costs outpace frozen rents.

The US Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down President Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship in a 5-4 decision.

Chief Justice Roberts wrote the majority opinion.

“Children born in the United States to parents unlawfully or temporarily present are “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States and are citizens at birth under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Citizenship Clause,” Roberts wrote.

Roberts was joined by Amy Coney Barrett, Kagan, Sotomayor and Jackson.

In September, President Trump asked the US Supreme Court to end birthright citizenship.

Several federal judges have blocked President Trump’s birthright citizenship executive order.

According to President Trump’s order, the 14th Amendment is being misinterpreted by the left to give citizenship to ‘anchor babies.’

“It is the policy of the United States that no department or agency of the United States government shall issue documents recognizing United States citizenship, or accept documents issued by State, local, or other governments or authorities purporting to recognize United States citizenship, to persons: (1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or (2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States was lawful but temporary, and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth,” Trump’s order stated.

Trump’s order argued the 14th Amendment has always excluded babies born to people in the US illegally.

“[The] Fourteenth Amendment has never been interpreted to extend citizenship universally to everyone born within the United States. The Fourteenth Amendment has always excluded from birthright citizenship persons who were born in the United States but not “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” Consistent with this understanding, the Congress has further specified through legislation that “a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” is a national and citizen of the United States at birth, 8 U.S.C. 1401, generally mirroring the Fourteenth Amendment’s text,” the order stated.

NPR reporter Nina Totenberg on Tuesday published an article claiming Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was retiring.

Totenberg claimed that the Supreme Court made the announcement that Alito was retiring.

However, 10 minutes later the NPR article was scrubbed and left with an editors note.

“This story has been taken down. It was published in error,” the note read.

NPR staff published a separate article claiming the Alito article was “erroneously published.”

“Editors Note: Earlier today we erroneously published a story saying that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was retiring. He has not announced his retirement and we have retracted the story.”

The University of California, Berkeley is launching a new institute named after former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

According to its website, the institute will “honor and carry on the legacy of Speaker Pelosi, the first Californian and first woman to serve as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.”

Despite that mission statement, the institute also describes itself as nonpartisan.

Pelosi, who will leave Congress in January, is expected to teach courses, help raise money for the institute and contribute financially herself.

The university said it has already secured $35 million in donations for the project but did not identify the donors.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and UC Berkeley are joining forces to launch the Nancy Pelosi Institute for Representative Democracy, a new nonpartisan institute dedicated to strengthening American democracy.

Berkeley officials said the institute will initially offer undergraduate students a certificate program in public leadership, with plans to expand into a full major or minor.

The program will also include visiting fellows, research opportunities and a course co-taught by Pelosi and political science professor Eric Schickler.

Pelosi insisted the institute would rise above partisan politics.

“This is about civics, it’s about the vision of our founders, it’s about democracy,” she said, adding that the institute represents “almost an emancipation from partisanship.”

Berkeley Chancellor Richard Lyons likewise rejected suggestions that naming an institute after one of the Democratic Party’s most recognizable political figures amounted to political alignment.

The announcement comes as Berkeley remains under scrutiny from the Trump administration.

Federal agencies have launched investigations into allegations of antisemitism and the university’s handling of campus protests.

However, the administration has not filed suit against Berkeley, as it has against Harvard and UCLA.

Pelosi said she expects Republicans to be invited to speak at the institute but suggested invitations would be limited to those who oppose Donald Trump.

Among them, she said, would be individuals she considers “patriotic, who share the vision of our founders, honor their oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution, and believe in the diversity of America as our strength and our power.”

The institute joins a growing number of civics and public policy centers opening at universities across the country.

This institute not the only thing named after Pelosi ahead of her retirement.

Last year, President Trump confirmed he would be selling the Nancy Pelosi federal building in San Francisco due to soaring maintenance costs.

President Trump on Monday blasted gasoline retailers and the State of California over high fuel costs, demanding lower prices for Americans as oil hovers around $70 per barrel amid de-escalation with Iran. 

Last week, Trump announced that he had “instructed the DOJ to immediately start looking into” price gouging by big oil companies.

“The big Oil Companies are not dropping their price at the pump commensurate with the sharply lower prices they are paying for Oil,” Trump wrote. “Those prices are dropping like a rock!”

On Monday, Trump reiterated his previous demands, writing on Truth Social, “Gasoline Retailers must get their Prices down, IMMEDIATELY! They’re too high considering that Oil is now at $68 a Barrel, and heading south.”

“The Retailers must quickly react to this statement, and do what they know is right — DROP YOUR PRICE FOR OUR GREAT AMERICAN PEOPLE! There will be no gauging, which is totally illegal,” the President added.

Trump further called on California, where the average gas price is over $5 per gallon, to lower its gas tax. “Soon the Tax will be higher than the Product itself, and the United States will not stand for it, nor will the People of California, who are being abused by these ridiculous Taxes, and by their own Government,” he said.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also called on gasoline retailers to lower their prices, with a warning this morning on Fox. “I would encourage them to be good actors, especially in the 250th anniversary, because we’re watching,” he said:

Oil prices dropped to about $68 on Friday but rose slightly over the weekend following renewed hostilities between the US and Iran over the weekend.

US Central Command announced on Saturday that additional strikes were launched against “multiple targets in Iran” following an attack on a commercial vessel. This followed previous strikes on Friday after Iran hit another ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran responded by firing missiles and drones at Bahrain and Kuwait overnight.

Oil prices rose on Monday following an agreement between the U.S. and Iran to halt recent hostilities in the Middle East.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures rose 1.9% to $70.56 per barrel. The WTI contract settled below $70 on Friday for the first time since Feb. 27 — the day before the start of the Iran war.

International benchmark Brent crude futures, meanwhile, gained 1.3% to $72.91.

The moves follow clashes between the U.S. and Iran that threatened to derail negotiations aimed at ending the conflict. U.S. officials said both sides would pause hostilities and allow commercial vessels to freely transit the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the US and Iran agreed to halt attacks and hold talks in Qatar’s capital of Doha this week after exchanging fire through the weekend and threatening the fragile 60-day memorandum of understanding.

Trump told reporters on Monday, “The meeting in Doha is going to be, perhaps, important, perhaps not. We’re gonna find out. But we’re winning militarily.”

The ailing Royal Navy continues to suffer under Starmer’s yoke.

Caretaker British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to release tomorrow (30) the long-delayed – and highly controversial – defense investment plan (DIP).

As part of the plan, Starmer will reportedly announce the replacement of the Royal Navy’s destroyers with ‘smaller, cheaper warships.’

The current fleet of six Type 45 missile-defense ships will be replaced with the new – and as-of-yet undesigned – Common Combat Vessel (CCV) starting from the early 2030s.

The Telegraph reported:

“The new vessels, which have not yet been designed, would be crewed by sailors and act as a “control hub” for a series of drone warships, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.”

The CCVs will be joined by a series of newly announced drone ships ‘packed with sensors and radars.’

“The ships will be built instead of the previously planned Type 83 destroyer. […] Some observers fear it is a cost-cutting exercise by the MoD to save cash, as the military faces a reported £28bn shortfall in its budget over the next four years.”

Plans for a new destroyer to replace Britain’s ageing warships have been scrapped as part of changes to the long-awaited defence investment plan.

“Cdr Tom Sharpe, a retired frigate captain, said: ‘Destroyers have been the backbone of the Navy for so long it is almost incomprehensible to get rid of them. I’m deeply uncomfortable about this. It’s been done because someone has made the case it will be cheaper. And it will be, because it will be shit’.”

The British Defense Ministry says the cheap vessels will improve the ‘reach, resilience and firepower’ of the fleet, combined with drone ships.

“When in service, these CCVs will work alongside eight Type 26 submarine-hunting frigates and the five ‘Type 31’ general-purpose frigates. They will also support the UK’s two aircraft carriers, HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Queen Elizabeth in the carrier strike group.”
