Pope Leo XIV, the first American-born pontiff from Chicago has been diagnosed with lung cancer, the Vatican announced on Tuesday.
The 71-year-old Pope underwent surgery on Tuesday to remove a “localized nodule” in his lung.
Later Tuesday it was revealed that the surgeon removed the lower lobe of the pontiff’s right lung.
Doctors confirmed that Pope Leo XIV indeed has lung cancer.
The operation took place at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

The United Nations General Assembly rammed through another non-binding “political declaration” on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response on Tuesday by a lopsided 153–3 vote. The only countries that voted no were the United States, Israel, and Argentina. New Zealand and Paraguay abstained.
According to UN News, the declaration calls for stronger international cooperation on pandemic preparedness and welcomes the World Health Organization’s controversial Pandemic Agreement, adopted in May 2025.
The declaration is officially nonbinding, meaning it does not itself give the WHO legal authority to impose lockdowns, vaccine mandates, or other public health restrictions on Americans.
But the overwhelming vote raises a serious political question: How much influence should international health bureaucracies have over the decisions of sovereign nations?
For the Trump administration, the answer has been clear: America’s public health decisions must remain under American control.
During Monday’s debate, the US objected to the declaration’s use of “sexual and reproductive health (SRH) language” – ironically, finding common cause with Iran on this.
“While we support strengthening health systems and protecting women’s health, we do not support references to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, and ‘sexual and reproductive health care service’s without caveats and qualification,” the US delegate said.
“The United States strongly opposes the inclusion of harmful gender ideology, including comprehensive sexuality education, as it is detrimental to the well-being and development of children and undermines parental authority.”
Echoing the US’s opposition to this language, Iran said SRH references “do not enjoy universal agreement and cannot be construed as creating an international obligation or commitment.”
The declaration commits member states to “mainstream gender equality” and ensure “universal access to sexual and reproductive health care services, including for family planning,” by 2030. It does not refer to “reproductive rights”, gender ideology, or comprehensive sexuality education.
Canada and Australia argued that the document’s language “weakened commitments” to gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus welcomed the General Assembly’s decision, describing it as a major commitment to international cooperation.
“WHO welcomes this strong commitment by UN Member States to continue working together on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response,” said World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
“The world has come a long way since COVID-19. We urge countries to now fulfil the commitments they have made – especially to finalize negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing system (PABS) annex, so the WHO Pandemic Agreement can be opened for signature, begin the process of ratification and enter into force as international law.”
The vote came after the Trump administration and several other countries objected to the declaration during a September 25 high-level meeting at UN headquarters in New York.
The objections prevented the document from being adopted by consensus, forcing the issue back to the General Assembly for a formal vote.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the United States opposed provisions concerning WHO influence, contested terminology, and unfinished negotiations over international pathogen-sharing arrangements.
The Trump administration argued that the declaration contained politically divisive language and referenced negotiations that had not yet been completed.
The United States nevertheless maintained that it was prepared to cooperate with international partners to combat dangerous outbreaks at their source.
Italy also raised objections during the September negotiations, specifically challenging language concerning misinformation, disinformation, and what UN officials described as infodemic management.
However, Italy was not among the three countries that ultimately voted against the declaration on October 12.
The man who plunged to his death from a Georgia Six Flags rollercoaster on Monday has been identified as 42-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem.
Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem was an IT manager and a tech teacher for Atlanta Public Schools.
Kariem fell from the Goliath rollercoaster, one of the park’s largest and most recognizable attractions, and hit other riders.
Witnesses described the horrifying moments Kariem fell from the rollercoaster.
Witness Cody Alcorn told local outlets that Kariem “fell and hit the car three different times.” He added that the falling victim was captured on their souvenir photo from the day: “He was in our pictures.”

Another witness who was on the ride at the time Kariem plunged to his death says the rollercoaster seats appeared to be faulty.
“It would unlock and lock, unlock and lock. It kept clicking like it was unlocking and re-locking,” a woman who was on the ride told WSB-TV.
“He hit a girl two rows in front of us on the Goliath ride right where the pictures are taken. His blood splattered over everybody, and his body fell behind one of the haunted attractions,” the woman said.
Aerial footage captured by WSB-TV’s NewsChopper 2 showed riders being evacuated.
Kariem’s wife reportedly watched her husband plunge to his death.

President Trump speaks to reporters at the White House
President Trump on Tuesday told The Gateway Pundit that he “doesn’t take a position” on the investigation into Ilhan Omar or whether she should be deported, while slamming her as a “terrible person” who doesn’t “love our country at all.”
Omar’s Washington, DC home was raided early on Monday morning in a criminal fraud investigation that is looking at Omar’s immigration paperwork, which was filled out by her late father when she was a teen. Investigators were seen hauling boxes of evidence out of her home yesterday.
Officials believe that she may have lied on her papers, constituting fraudulent citizenship. Border Czar Tom Homan and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin have both suggested that she lied and could be deported.
Asked by The Gateway Pundit on Tuesday if he personally wants to see Omar’s deportation, Trump said, “I don’t take a position.”
“I think she’s a terrible person. I think she’s a terrible congresswoman,” he added.
“I don’t think she loves our country at all, but I don’t take a position.”
Likewise, Trump on Monday, following the raid on Omar’s home, distanced himself from the investigation, telling reporters, “I’ve always found her to be totally crooked, personally, but that has nothing to do with me… That’s really up to the DOJ; I have nothing to do with it.”
Still, he savaged Omar and her third-world home country of Somalia.
“I think she’s a terrible person, just a complainer. She comes from a country that is a non-country, and then she comes over here, and she complains about our Constitution,” he said.

The reportedly years-long probe is looking into whether she or her father lied on her citizenship application and obtained citizenship through fraudulent means.
Even the left-wing media was forced to admit that the feds likely have evidence against Omar, given the fact that the court granted a warrant to raid her home.

Former CNN host Chris Cuomo shared his delusional take on Christians by claiming, “The more Christian a culture is, the more they wanna kill people.”
Cuomo spoke with Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), following the failed execution of Christa Pike in Tennessee on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Pike survived and was hospitalized.
After sharing the clip of Burchett, Cuomo stated, “I’ve always found it interesting that the more Christian a culture is, the more they wanna kill people.”
“And that is certainly the case in Tennessee. The governor is now worried because this looks bad, cuz it was ineffective. But you can kill her a much easier way if you want. But are we having the right to debate, the right debate here about like, how do you do it? Is that really the right debate?”
“Or is it whether, you know, for you, if you’re looking at it for Christians, you really think God wants you to have the determination of who lives and who dies? Is that what the best instruction is for our society?”
Burchett responded, “Is 30 years….is 30 years justice? Is it the same person that committed the crime?”
“The last execution was a guy I knew. He went to my high school. He was a friend of my brother’s, and we met, and we went to actually visit him in prison, in Brushy Mountain Prison and in Nashville. I went down on death row when I was a civilian. They wouldn’t allow me as a legislator. But visited him many times. So I’m, I’m very much aware of the back and forth.”
“But I think under some circumstances, heinous crimes, crimes against children, murder, rape of a child, I think it’s very acceptable.”
“But I don’t think 30 years is justice. I think you cause the families to suffer, the innocent families of the victim. And too many times we forget about the victim and the suffering that they occurred.”
“You know, you get— I think she should have one appeal to make sure there wasn’t something screwy, but these constant appeals that go on….”
“And two, here’s what’s going to happen, Chris. You watch. They’re going to come back and say this failed execution caused her to have a mental blockage or some sort of mental issue.”
Watch:
SMFH: Chris Cuomo decides to make a ignorant assumption regarding christians.
“I’ve always found it interesting that the more Christian a culture is the more they wanna kill people.”
Chris, Name one teaching that says that. Not a state. Not a culture. The teaching. Give me the bible verse.
US District Judge Ana Reyes on Monday halted the Trump Administration’s renovation project at the East Potomac Golf Course.
On Tuesday, Uruguayan-born Judge Reyes, a Biden appointee, blocked the Trump Administration from cutting down any more trees at the East Potomac Golf Course until at least October 26.
A federal judge on Tuesday barred the Trump administration from removing trees at East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C., for another two weeks after hundreds of trees were felled at the historic public course over the weekend.
U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes said in a brief order that the Department of the Interior and National Park Service may not cut down any further trees at East Potomac through Oct. 26. She also said that through that date, the Trump administration must provide the court and plaintiffs, the D.C. Preservation League and two local golfers, with three business days’ notice before “making any irreparable modification to any permanent form or feature” of the course.
Reyes said the D.C. Preservation League and golfers will likely be harmed without relief. The plaintiffs are challenging President Trump’s planned overhaul of East Potomac.
The Trump Administration removed more than 400 trees from the East Potomac Golf Course over the weekend, and Judge Reyes flipped out.
Judge Reyes screamed at DOJ lawyers on Monday during a hearing on the Trump Administration’s renovation project.
“I’m furious,” Judge Reyes said on Monday morning.
“What has happened has cost the government all of its credibility,” Reyes added.
Judge Reyes screamed at the DOJ lawyers: “Ignorance is not an excuse!”
Stephen Miller blasted the crazed, foreign-born judge.
“I missed the part of the Constitutional Convention that put federal judges in charge of golf course maintenance. The Left is endlessly enraged that, after allowing DC to decay for decades, the Trump Administration is making it safe, clean and beautiful,” said Trump Deputy Chief of Staff for policy Stephen Miller.
Also, notice that leftist judges are never “enraged” when Democrats free illegal alien rapists and murderers. That kind of anger is reserved solely for improving long-neglected public golf courses.

A Romanian couple the Department of Homeland Security is calling an illegal alien “Bonnie and Clyde” is in ICE custody after Nassau County police arrested them for a series of jewelry thefts that targeted Good Samaritans, many of them elderly.
Rudi Lacatusu, 28, and Mirabela Lacatusu, 26, were arrested earlier this month and each charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, according to Nassau County police.
Police say the pair would pull over and ask someone for directions, and after the person helped, Mirabela would get out and offer a thank-you hug.
While her arms were around the victim, she would unclasp the necklace, and the couple would drive away.
In one Valley Stream case, a 73-year-old woman noticed her roughly $2,000 gold chain was gone only after the car had left.
In another, the woman was told it was Mirabela’s “custom” to give a gift and that refusing would offend her.
The gift was a fake. Her real chain was gone.
Investigators have linked the pair to incidents across the four states.
News Nation’s Ali Bradley reports, “According to information provided by DHS, police linked the pair to at least 14 incidents across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland. The necklaces were valued at $2,000–$3,000 each.”
#EXCLUSIVE A hug to say “thank you”—then a missing necklace…
@DHSgov says a Romanian couple it calls an illegal immigrant “Bonnie and Clyde” is now in @ICEgov custody after an alleged jewelry theft spree spanning four states.
Police say Rudi Lacatusu and Mirabela Lacatusu would pull over to ask someone for directions. Mirabela would then allegedly hug the person to thank them—unclasping their necklace before the couple drove away.
According to information provided by DHS, police linked the pair to at least 14 incidents across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland. The necklaces were valued at $2,000–$3,000 each.
Nassau County police arrested both on October 5th charging each with three counts of grand larceny, before turning them over to ICE.
@SecMullinDHS saying, “Thanks to local partners in New York, these illegal aliens are in ICE custody and will be removed from our country… If it were up to sanctuary politicians like Governor Kathy Hochul, these criminals would be back on the streets to rob more Americans.”
DHS says both entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown date and location.
Victims in the Nassau cases were mostly in their 70s.
One senior in Floral Park stopped the theft when the couple started to hug and grab.
“If some stranger’s coming out of the car and they want to give you a hug, that’s a no-no,” Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said, according to a CBS News report.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin told Bradley, “Thanks to local partners in New York, these illegal aliens are in ICE custody and will be removed from our country… If it were up to sanctuary politicians like Governor Kathy Hochul, these criminals would be back on the streets to rob more Americans.”
The couple has now been turned over to ICE and will be sent back to Romania.
The Department of Homeland Security announced that a 21-year-old Afghan alien, Badshah Sahi, was sentenced to 35 years for multiple child sex charges.
Following the Biden administration’s deadly and chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, Sahi was released into the United States, along with roughly 190,000 Afghan nationals, without proper vetting.
Following an investigation by ICE Homeland Security Investigations Dallas, police departments in Arlington and Forney, as well as sheriff’s offices in Green and Hays Counties, authorities discovered Sahi was producing and was in possession of child sexual abuse material.
“A search of Sahi’s phone at the time of his arrest revealed numerous images and videos of a prepubescent girl and communication with other children online.”
“On at least one occasion, Sahi used an online gaming platform to coerce a child in Indiana to create and send him sexually explicit videos at his direction. The child victim was 10 years old, which was revealed to Sahi during the course of their communications.”
“Additional forensic records revealed that Sahi communicated with a 15-year-old girl in San Marcos and drove to her location, where he recorded himself sexually assaulting her.”
According to court documents, authorities arrested Sahi for sexual assault of a child on Feb. 28, 2025.
Law enforcement believed Sahi was communicating with a 14-year-old girl from his residence in Arlington. Sahi would pick up the girl outside her home in Forney and transport her to various locations to sexually assault her.
On April 1, Sahi pleaded guilty to the charges and has now been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison.
HSI Dallas acting Special Agent in Charge Antwoine Jones noted, “This dangerous child sex offender was recklessly released into the United States without proper vetting during the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 and went on to prey on innocent children both here in North Texas and online.”
“Thankfully, working with our law enforcement partners, we were able to remove him from the local community and ensure he spends the next 35 years behind bars, where he won’t be able to harm any more children.”
U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould added, “This lengthy sentence sends a resounding message: Child predators will find no safe harbor in the Northern District of Texas.”
“We will find them and ensure they face the full weight of federal prosecution. Our commitment to protecting children is absolute, and we hope this outcome serves as a clear deterrent to anyone contemplating similar crimes.”
