Russia Today reported:

An Orthodox priest was brutally murdered after two churches and a synagogue came under attack on Sunday in Russia’s southern region of Dagestan, Interior Ministry spokesperson Gayana Garieva has said.

The assailants reportedly broke into an Orthodox church in the city of Derbent and killed the archpriest, Father Nikolay Kotelnikov, by slitting his throat, Shamil Khadulaev, the head of the regional Public Oversight Committee, which monitors the observance of human rights in prisons, said on his Telegram channel.

A security guard named Mikhail who worked in the church was shot by the assailants. The man was only armed with a gas pistol, according to Khadulaev. Other clergymen have locked themselves in the church, waiting for help, he added.

The terrorists attacked the church on Pentecost Sunday, immediately after the evening service and shortly before the church was closed.

The priest who was killed was 66 years old and was seriously ill, according to Khadulaev. In the 1980s Father Nikolay was commissioned from the southern Russian city of Stavropol to Dagestan and served at Derbent’s Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He spent a total of 40 years serving there, and had a wife, three children and grandchildren, according to local media reports.

The Moscow Times has more – including reports that the terrorists were using NATO weapons.

“According to information at this moment in Makhachkala, law enforcement offices have eliminated four fighters,” the Interior Ministry’s spokeswoman wrote on Telegram.

Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee has introduced a counterterrorism regime in Dagestan, with video posted online showing that roads leading in and out of Derbent have been closed.

Security forces have cordoned off the militants in the city of Derbent and are preparing to storm the building where they are entrenched, Interfax cited regional law enforcement as saying.

Russia’s Investigative Committee said it has opened a criminal terrorism probe over the armed attacks in Derbent and Makhachkala.

Residents of Makhachkala have been asked to remain in their homes.

The Dagestan Interior Ministry’s spokeswoman also said that “unknown [attackers] fired on a police car” on the central square of the village of Sergokal, located some 65 kilometres from Makhachkala, RIA Novosti news agency reported. At least one police officer was wounded in the attack.

Abdulkhakim Gadzhiev, a State Duma Deputy from Dagestan, claimed without evidence that Ukraine and NATO were behind the attack.

“I think intelligence services of Ukraine and NATO member states could be behind this [attack] …Because we [Russia] are claiming all-around success in the special military operation, so they want to destabilize the situation inside the country,” Gadzhiev was cited as telling reporters in the wake of the attack.

Forgotten is his status as an iconoclastic tastemaker, political and cultural insider, linguistic authority, and, perhaps most strangely, apostle of Friedrich Nietzsche. (In addition to the nickname “the Sage of Baltimore,” he earned the moniker “the American Nietzsche.”) A rash of suicides among New Jersey college students was attributed to “Menckenism”; the state of Arkansas voted a day of prayer for his endangered soul.

We’ve written about his memoirs here before; they are laid back, full of charming anecdotes and tall tales. For the stuff that made Methodists quake, for Menckenism in its self-contradictory, idiosyncratic glory, The Mencken Chrestomathy is the ticket. Selected by the man himself late in his career from his own favorite passages, the Chrestomathy represents a pure example of a certain kind of Americanism. Ours is the only country (of which I am aware, at any rate) whose national character involves thinking the mass of your fellow-citizens are idiots, but agreeable fellows all the same.

Thus my view of my country is predominantly tolerant and amiable. I do not believe in democracy, but I am perfectly willing to admit that it provides the only really amusing form of government ever endured by mankind.

Various modern critics have tried to saddle cryptofascism and worse on Mencken, but it doesn’t stick—not when you actually read him. Just because the other guys are (as Mencken would say) boobs isn’t to be held against them; you should certainly not bother using the state to make them do anything.

The ideal government of all reflective men, from Aristotle onward, is one which lets the individual alone—one which barely escapes being no government at all.

The Sage of Baltimore is often described as a misanthrope; Hitchens went so far as to call him an “antihumanist.” But, at a remove of decades, he seems far more agreeable toward his fellow man than many a humanist, humanitarian, or advocate of human rights. Long live Menckenism.

The Socialist Paris Mayor was planning to swim in France’s Seine River on Sunday ahead of the 2024 Olympics next month to prove that the water is safe for competitors to swim in.

However, as The Gateway Pundit reported early this morning, Parisians organized a poop protest against the 2024 Summer Olympic clean-up costs and the French President and Paris Mayor.

All that sh*t must have gotten to Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s head as she reportedly postponed until after the French elections early next month. Perhaps she is hoping she will lose and can pass along the responsibility.

Sky News reports,

Today was supposed to be the date Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo would swim in the Seine to prove the water was clean enough for Olympicathletes – but she delayed the dip until after the French elections in July.

President Emmanuel Macron has also promised to swim in the Seine before the Games, but has not said when.

A website has been set up with the slogan: “They have plunged us into shit, it’s their turn to plunge into our shit.”

The anonymous programmer behind the website told news outlet Actu Paris why people are angry.

Police on the scene after a mass shooting in the Short North Arts District near downtown Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday morning.-WCMH

According to police, ten individuals were shot early Sunday in Columbus, Ohio, leaving one person critically injured.

The Columbus Police Department reported that the shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the Short North Arts District near downtown, affecting victims aged 16 to 27.

NBC News reports,

All of the victims in Sunday’s shooting appeared to be men, according to NBC affiliate WCMH-TV in Columbus. Nine of the victims were listed in stable condition Sunday morning, Columbus police said.

Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert said a male suspect was found shortly after the shooting but officers lost him during a highway pursuit, according to the station. The suspect was driving a white Honda Civic with tinted windows, authorities said.

This is the third major shooting in the North Arts District in just over a year, highlighting a disturbing trend of escalating violence in this once-celebrated area.

On May 6, 2023, the Short North Arts District turned into a war zone overnight with two simultaneous shootings. The chaos resulted in at least ten people being shot, including one individual who was critically wounded by an officer, according to station reports. This incident showcased the alarming lawlessness taking root, with even law enforcement forced into confrontations.

Then, just two weeks later, the district faced another horrific event. A mass shooting claimed the lives of three individuals and left at least three others injured. According to the police station, the shooting added to the mounting toll of lives lost and people injured in what used to be a vibrant, safe community.

The persistent and rising violence in the North Arts District signals a crisis that demands immediate and decisive action to restore safety and order.

CBS’s Margaret Brennan’s cosmopolitan elitism was in full force on Sunday as she lectured voters on Biden’s lack of vetting for the illegals he has welcomed in.

Margaret Brennan condescendingly argued with a voter over Joe Biden’s deadly open borders policies that have allowed rapists, MS-13 gang members and terrorists into the country.

Voters appeared on a panel on “Face the Nation” on Sunday to discuss Biden’s failed policies.

One voter said Biden’s open border policies are dangerous because there is no proper vetting process.

More than 15 million illegal aliens – mainly military-age males – have invaded the US on Biden’s watch.

Joe Biden took 94 executive actions in his first 100 days in office to destroy the border.

“Day one, currently president Biden was elected, he immediately, by the stroke of a pen, undid everything that President Trump had done in closing the border. We had security at the border. We were vetting the people that wanted to come in and with a stroke of a pen, day one [Biden] opened the border, he opened the doors without any vetting process…he has to take responsibility for that,” the voter said.

Margaret Brennan interjected and talked down to the woman.

“You do know that there is vetting that border officials do when they encounter someone,” Margaret Brennan said.

“No they don’t,” the voter said.

Far-left California Rep. Maxine Waters has said she fears for her safety if Donald Trump wins the presidential election in November.

In an interview on MSNBC’s ‘The Saturday Show,’ Waters suggested that Trump would target her and other people of color if he returns to the White House.

“How concerned are you about your safety if Donald Trump is re-elected?” asked host Jonathan Capehart.

Waters replied:

I’m very concerned, not only about my safety and not only about the safety of members of Congress. I’m concerned about the safety of so many people in this country, particularly people of color. Donald Trump has said that if he does not win, it is going to be fraud, and because it is going to be fraud, there will be blood in the streets.

He threatens about a civil war, and he threatens there’s going to be violence. I would say all of this talk is motivational with many of those who are racist, who are sitting at home listening to him, and they are taking him up on his threats even before the elections take place. It is about thousands, maybe millions of people being threatened and being at risk because of Donald Trump and his desire to seek revenge on anything and everybody.

I do believe having listened to Donald Trump so many times and having the attack, the insurrection that took place on the House of Representatives in Congress, on the Capitol, the Capitol grounds, we could be in for more killings like that. I think Donald Trump has to take responsibility for what he is saying about blood in the streets and violence if he is not elected to be the president of the United States of America.

Such warnings are particularly ironic given that back in 2018, Waters riled up a crowd of supporters urged them to harass members of Trump’s cabinet.

“If you see anybody from [Trump’s] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere!” she declared at the time.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, a shooting occurred at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas on Friday.

According to early reporting, two people were confirmed dead and six people were injured, including a police officer.

According to the Arkansas State Police, fourteen people were injured, including two law enforcement officers and the shooter, who has been identified as 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey.

Per the New York Post, Posey killed four individuals, “including an 81-year-old who succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.”

The motive of the shooter is still unknown.

A New York Post article in June reported that welfare offices and other government agencies in 49 states were providing voter registration forms to migrants without requiring proof of citizenship.

Of course, this is complete lawlessness, and it is being facilitated by government officials. Illegal aliens have no rights at all to vote in US elections.

In only some states, lawmakers will not allow illegals to vote in local elections, but every state will allow illegal aliens to vote in national elections, including the presidential election. This is because of provisions in the federal Voting Rights Act, which allow you to vote without proving identity.

According to Ballotpedia,

As of June 2024, the following seven states included language explicitly prohibiting noncitizen voting in their state constitutions.[33]

Alabama

Arizona

Colorado

Florida

Louisiana

North Dakota

Ohio

Still, in Arizona and other states, you are not required to prove citizenship to receive a federal-only ballot, will allow anyone to vote in federal elections, including presidential elections. You must only check a box affirming you are a citizen and a box affirming you will be 18 or older on or before election day, put a name–any name–and an address to have your ballot mailed if you would like. The “proof of citizenship or last four digits of Social Security Number” box on the federal voter registration form, which is accepted in all 50 states, is not a required field.

Next, all that you must do is sign and date the form and “swear/affirm that:

I am a United States Citizen
I meet the eligibility requirements of my stater and subscribe to any oath required
The information I have provided is true to the best of my knowledge under penalty of perjury. If I have provided false information, I may be fined, imprisoned, or (if not a U.S. citizen) deported from or refused entry to the United States.”

Per KTVZ:

After Arizona enacted its proof of citizenship law in 2004, it began rejecting all voter registration applicants that didn’t include documented proof of citizenship.

Then, in 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that, under the Voting Rights Act — which doesn’t require documentation — Arizona had to let these voters vote in federal elections. The state created a system in which it rejected any state voter registration application that didn’t have documents proving citizenship, but if the voter used a federal form, they would be registered as a federal-only voter. Because few voters use the federal form, the federal-only list was relatively small at the time.

After groups sued, in 2018, the state agreed to start adding voters to the federal-only list regardless of whether they used the state or federal form. That caused the list to grow, and fast.

As of October 2019, there were about 17,000 federal-only voters, according to state data. By October 2020, there were about 36,000.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, in 2022, Republicans in the Arizona Legislature passed HB2492 a critical election integrity bill that requires all voters to provide satisfactory evidence of citizenship to be properly registered to vote. This would apply to federal-only voters and prevent illegals from voting in federal elections. However, the law was stayed and has not gone into effect because of a pending court case.

Again this is complete lawlessness.

It’s like inviting the entire world to vote for US president. Democrats don’t care. They like the idea.

But what about Republicans?

Why are Republicans allowing non-citizens to vote in the US election?

Former GOP Arizona Gubernatorial candidate and rightful winner of the 2022 midterm election, Kari Lake, recently responded to Katie Hobbs’ apparent bribery scheme and corruption, which began the day she was inaugurated in January 2023.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, Hobbs is currently facing an investigation stemming from significant donations made to the Democratic Party and a dark money group that was used for Hobbs’ inaugural events, potentially influencing state contract decisions.

Hobbs’ ethical conduct was previously called into question by GOP State Legislators after she solicited donations of up to $250,000 using a 501(c)(4) nonprofit group for inaugural events. She reportedly received $400,000 from a company, which later made millions in return.

This came after Hobbs, who was Secretary of State at the time and responsible for elections statewide, stole her election by less than 1% of the vote from Trump-Endorsed Kari Lake with 60% of vote counting machines failing in the state’s largest county, Maricopa. Other severe irregularities were reported across the state.

” I’ve always known she was unethical. You could just look at her path and look at how she ran the Secretary of State’s office,” said Lake in response to the pay for play allegation. “She ran the election that everyone saw was not run well in Arizona, to say the least.”

In response to GOP pressure, Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes, who, like Hobbs, stole the 2022 election by 280 votes from Trump-endorsed Abe Hamadeh, recently announced she would launch a criminal investigation into Hobbs’ pay-to-play scheme.

The Gateway Pundit reported that Katie Hobbs recently lost it and shouted at reporters when asked about the investigation. Despite clearly being stressed over the investigation, Hobbs signaled that she is confident that her Democrat colleague’s investigation will find “that we acted in the best interest of Arizonans.”

Kris Mayes, a Democrat, has a conflict of interest and is not expected by GOP leaders to thoroughly investigate her comrade. Additionally, the Attorney General’s office represents the Department of Child Safety, which may be implicated in the corruption.

Kari Lake also isn’t holding her breath, telling Chris Salcedo, “Now we have the AG—who really shouldn’t, in my opinion, be sitting in that seat—investigating a fellow Democrat.” Lake continued, ” I don’t hold out a lot of hope, Chris, that this investigation will be done properly, but it should be done properly. And I think when they dig a little bit deeper, they’re going to find not just unethical behavior, but perhaps criminal behavior if we can get a solid investigation.”

Republican Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell sent a letter earlier this month to Mayes, signaling that she will open her own investigation into the matter.

Mitchell’s letter comes in response to June 7 letters to the Maricopa County Attorney and the state’s Auditor General, asking both agencies to stand down from the investigation and claiming that a separate investigation “could jeopardize the integrity of the criminal investigation that my office will now proceed with.”

“Mayes has been asked by State Rep. David Livingston, R-28th District, to recuse herself from the investigation over concerns that she would not be able to properly investigate a member of her own party. On Monday, Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee, a Republican, requested Mitchell, a fellow Republican, conduct her own investigation to ensure objectivity,” reports ABC15.

Salcedo: Reports revealed that Sunshine Residential Homes donated roughly $400,000 to Hobbs. But questions are now being raised when the Department of Child Safety raised their daily pay rate per child by about 60%. And this came as other homes were getting their requests for more funding rejected. How much trouble is Arizona in with Hobbs at the helm?

Lake: Well, I mean, I’ve always known she was unethical. You could just look at her path and look at how she ran the Secretary of State’s office. She ran the election that everyone saw was not run well in Arizona, to say the least. And now we have the AG—who really shouldn’t, in my opinion, be sitting in that seat—investigating a fellow Democrat. I mean, the entire state of Arizona is run, in my opinion, by the cartels and so I don’t hold out a lot of hope, Chris, that this investigation will be done properly, but it should be done properly. And I think when they dig a little bit deeper, they’re going to find not just unethical behavior, but perhaps criminal behavior, if we can get a solid investigation. I’m not surprised in the least that this kind of shenanigans would be exhibited from this office, in our governor’s office right now, considering who the inhabitant is right now. But we shall see; we’ll see if they can find a spine and do the right thing for the people of Arizona.
