Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) announced on Monday his confidence that the Republican party has secured sufficient votes to charge Attorney General Merrick Garland with inherent contempt of Congress, as reported by Just The News.

Last month, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fl) informed fellow lawmakers of her intention to introduce a resolution compelling the House sergeant at arms to detain Attorney General Merrick Garland and present him before the lower chamber.

“Under inherent contempt, the individual is brought before the bar of the House by the Sergeant at Arms, tried by the body, and can then be detained either in the Capitol or in D.C.,” Luna said. “This process demonstrates the seriousness with which Congress views non-compliance and the potential consequences for those who refuse to cooperate.”

Luna further emphasized, “The only option to ensure compliance with our subpoena is to use our constitutional authority of inherent contempt.” She also disclosed her plans to call up her resolution holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt of Congress in the coming days and urged her colleagues to vote in favor.

Last Wednesday, Rep. Luna issued a stern warning to Garland, giving him until Friday morning to hand over the requested audio tapes or face custody.

“Why should the attorney general, who is supposed to be head of all law enforcement authorities, be any different? Garland still has time to comply with this request. We are asking that he bring the tapes to the house and let us listen to them, but in the event that he does not, we will press forward with calling the privilege motion on Inherent Contempt to the floor on Friday morning,” Rep. Luna said in a press conference.

However, rather than introducing a privilege motion on inherent contempt on Friday, Rep. Luna proposed a resolution to impose a daily fine of $10,000 on Garland until he complies.

The Hill reported that Luna’s new resolution comes as she faces GOP pushback to her proposal to arrest and detain Garland. In response to The Gateway Pundit’s reporting, Rep. Luna confirmed that the proposal to arrest and detain Garland does not have enough votes to pass.

“There were members who said they didn’t support the other version. Meaning it would fail… Either way, I am literally the only person that brainstormed any accountability. If you dont like how the GOP VOTES as a whole get active, but trashing me without knowing details is exactly what the left does,” Luna wrote.

Now, with renewed confidence, Rep. Norman asserts that the party has rallied the necessary votes. “While we anticipate passing this resolution without Democratic support, the commitment within our ranks should see us through,” Norman commented during an appearance on the “Just The News, No Noise” TV show. He lauded Luna’s persistence and strategic planning over the past two years.

“I’m glad that it’s gotten as far as it has, [Luna] has worked on this for, I think, over two years to get this right, to make sure she has it in a form that will … pass the House and … get the job done with Merrick Garland.”

In an X post, Rep. Luna wrote, “Steve Bannon became yet another political prisoner of the Biden regime. The Justice Department has demonstrated an unmatched willingness to jail its political enemies. Congress must reign in this weaponized DOJ, and that starts with holding Merrick Garland in inherent contempt.”

Luna confirmed on X that she plans to call for the vote probably next week, Fox News reported.

“The vote for inherent contempt against Attorney General Merrick Garland will be brought to the floor this upcoming session week with full support from Speaker Mike Johnson. This version of inherent contempt will become standard practice for those who seek to undermine Congress as an equal branch of government,” Rep. Luna wrote.

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and personal lawyer to Donald Trump, has been disbarred by a Washington, D.C., disciplinary panel. The panel concluded that Giuliani’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election were both “frivolous” and “destructive,” marking a significant downfall for a once-prominent figure in American politics.

The three-member panel, consisting of two attorneys and a public member, unanimously recommended disbarment after a thorough review of Giuliani’s conduct and a series of hearings that included testimony from Giuliani and his associates​​.

The report also criticized Giuliani’s refusal to acknowledge any wrongdoing, further justifying the need for disbarment​.

Giuliani’s legal troubles began in earnest following the 2020 election. In 2021, his law license was suspended in New York for making demonstrably false and misleading statements about the election results. This suspension was a precursor to the D.C. panel’s final recommendation, which is expected to be reviewed by the D.C. Court of Appeals for final approval​​.

Three pro-Israel attendees of a public event titled “Strategic Lessons From the Palestinian Resistance” reported being attacked and forcibly dragged out by anti-Israel activists also in attendance at the West Asheville Library in North Carolina on Saturday.

The event, hosed by Another Carolina Anarchist Bookfair, was one of multiple anti-Israel sessions that took place during a three-day “anarchist” book fair.

The Algemeiner interviewed David Moritz, a 54-year-old son of Holocaust survivors, and Monica Buckley, who is 48 and identifies as queer. Both are Jewish and attended the event with 80-year-old Bob Campbell, who was also interviewed for this story.

Approximately 60-80 anti-Israel activists were in attendance at the event held in a public library. Almost all were masked, with the exception of one activist who is reported to regularly attend events in the area unmasked.

According to Moritz, Buckley, and Campbell, the event celebrated and glorified Hamas’ massacre across southern Israel on Oct. 7, when the Palestinian terrorist group killed 1,200 people and kidnapped about 250 others as hostages…

According to video and interviews with those targeted at the event, an activist grabbed Buckley’s phone, instigating mob violence against the three pro-Israel attendees. She was reportedly punched, kicked, and stomped. Her phone was stolen and later found, having been thrown on nearby property.

All three pro-Israel attendees reported being dragged out of the library.

Campbell, an 80-year-old military veteran with cancer and a stent in his heart, was stomped, assaulted, and pushed to the ground, a footprint clearly visible on his shorts. His phone was also taken and later found in a trashcan. Local police encouraged Campbell to see a doctor.

“My arms are chewed up,” Campbell told The Algemeiner. For medical treatment he went to a US Veterans Affairs facility, which found he had “severe contusions.”

On Tuesday, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) became the first elected Democrat to publicly call for President Joe Biden to step down as the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee for president.

“My decision to make these strong reservations public is not done lightly nor does it in any way diminish my respect for all that President Biden has achieved,” Doggett said in a statement. “Recognizing that, unlike Trump, President Biden’s first commitment has always been to our country, not himself, I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw. I respectfully call on him to do so.”

Doggett is the first elected lawmaker to pile on to the calls  from liberals in the media and activist class for Biden to step aside after the president appeared to cognitively struggle in the first presidential debate with former President Donald Trump. The Texas representative said Biden failed to “effectively defend his many accomplishments.”

“I represent the heart of a congressional district once represented by Lyndon Johnson,” Doggett added. “Under very different circumstances, he made the painful decision to withdraw. President Biden should do the same.”

Doggett may be the first Democratic lawmaker to come out in favor of replacing Biden as the nominee, but he may not be the last.

Just before Doggett’s statement, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), formerly the speaker of the house, told MSNBC that she believes, “it is a legitimate question,” whether or not Biden’s debate performance was just “an episode or is this a condition.”

“When people ask that question, it’s legitimate — of both candidates,” Pelosi added.

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), a major Biden ally in the 2020 election cycle that helped Biden win South Carolina on his way to the nomination, told MSNBC that he “will support” Vice President Kamala Harris if Biden “were to step aside.”

Rep. Jaime Raskin (D-MD) told the same network that, “whether he’s the candidate or someone else is the candidate, he is going to be the keynote speaker at our convention.”

“He will be the figure that we rally around to move forward,” Raskin added.

NBC’s Ken Dilanian posted an alarming story on X Tuesday afternoon, saying Hunter is now attending meetings with his dad and high-ranking White House aides following Biden’s debate debacle. Not surprisingly, this has caused confusion and anger amongst senior White House staffers.

NBC News reports that while Hunter is omnipresent at the White House residence and events, it is unusual for him to be in meetings that his father is having with his staff.

Moreover, he has been talking to senior White House staff.

One source told the outlet that Hunter has been closely advising his father since the family last weekend at Camp David. The source Hunter has “popped into” a couple of meetings and phone calls the president has had with some of his advisers.

TGP’s Cristina Laila previously reported that Hunter emerged as the strongest voice behind urging Biden to remain in the Presidential race during the meeting. One could say the timing of this development is quite intriguing.

A leak has sprung in the Democrat congressional dam to protect Dementia Joe at all costs despite his disastrous debate performance last week.

Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) on Tuesday became the first sitting congressional Democrat to call for Biden to leave the presidential race. While Doggett openly praised Biden’s record as “president,” he said circumstances are too dire for him to continue running.

“I represent the heart of a congressional district once represented by Lyndon Johnson. Under very different circumstances, he made the painful decision to withdraw. President Biden should do the same,” Doggett said in a statement.

“My decision to make these strong reservations public is not done lightly nor does it in any way diminish my respect for all that President Biden has achieved,” Doggett continued. “Recognizing that, unlike Trump, President Biden’s first commitment has always been to our country, not himself, I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw.”

Doggett noted that a Biden withdrawal would create an opportunity for a “new generation of leaders to emerge via an “open, democratic process. But he said his call for Biden’s withdrawal does not reflect his utmost respect for doddering Joe.

“He has the opportunity to encourage a new generation of leaders from whom a nominee can be chosen to unite our country through an open, democratic process,” Doggett wrote. “My decision to make these strong reservations public is not done lightly, nor does it in any way diminish my respect for all that President Biden has achieved.”

He ended his statement with a shot at Trump while reiterating his call for Biden to step aside.

“Recognizing that, unlike Trump, President Biden’s first commitment has always been to our country, not himself, I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw,” Doggett concluded. “I respectfully call on him to do so.”

National Republican Congressional Committee Communications Director Jack Pandol released a statement blasting Doggett’s announcement as too little, too late.

“The cowards in the Democratic Caucus have spent every day after the debate in witness protection, too afraid to say what they’re all thinking. Americans remember House Democrats were complicit in covering up and gaslighting the public about the president’s condition, and voters are primed to punish them in November.”
