COURAGE OVER PROFIT: Tech Company Yanks All Olympic Ads Following Demonic Opening Ceremony Which Mocked Christians and The Last Supper

One of the largest telecommunications providers in the United States is taking a stand for Christians worldwide after drag queens mocked the Last Supper during a demonic opening ceremony.

Mississippi-based tech company C-Spire, the sixth-largest wireless provider in the country, revealed in a tweet Saturday morning that it decided to no longer advertise for the Olympics in a remarkable display of corporate courage. The company described itself as shocked by the cruel mockery of the Christian faith.

We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics. C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics

Company President and CEO Suzy Hays followed up in a statement to the New York Post, elaborating that while C Spire supports Team USA, they can not stand idly by while Christians are dragged through the mud.

“C Spire is supportive of our athletes who have worked so hard to be a part of the Olympics,” Hays explained. “However, we will not be a part of the offensive and unacceptable mockery of the Last Supper, which is why we’re pulling our advertising from the Olympics.”

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves applauded C Spire’s decision while noting, “God will not be mocked.”

I am proud to see the private sector in Mississippi step up and put their foot down. God will not be mocked. C Spire drew a common-sense, appropriate line. https://t.co/R38yJye97I

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that The Paris Olympic organizers allowed a reenactment of the Lord’s Supper with drag queens during the 2024 Olympics ceremony.

In the sickening opening ceremony, the scantily dressed drag queens stood behind a long table while mocking one of the most sacred images in all of Christianity. Worse, a young child was also spotted standing next to the drag queens in the performance.

The performance was in addition to a provocative fashion show across the Debilyl Bridge with the Eiffel Tower and Seine in full view and a musical performance featuring a headless Marie Antoinette.

It remains to be seen whether more companies follow suit because the Olympics deserves the Bud Light treatment.

U.S. Bishop Robert Barron’s Powerful Reaction to Perverse Anti-Christian Opening Ceremony at Paris Olympics: “They’re telling us who they are. We should believe them.” (Video)

U.S. Bishop Robert Barron

The 2024 Paris Olympics has been marred by controversy after a blasphemous opening ceremony musical number that recreated The Last Supper with drag queens and a weird blue Smurf-like man in a speedo.

U.S. Bishop Robert Barron, who has served as bishop of the Diocese of Winona–Rochester in Minnesota since 2022, shared his reaction to the anti-Christian display.

This is Bishop Barron. You know, just a few days ago, I was in Indianapolis for the marvelous celebration of the Eucharistic Congress, 50,000 Catholics coming together to worship the Lord and celebrate the real presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. So I come from that experience, and I come home and, you know, I love the Olympics.

So I turn on the opening ceremonies in the Olympics. What do I see now? And it’s in Paris, France, a city I love. I spent three years as a doctoral student there.

What do I see? But this gross mockery of the Last Supper, and I won’t describe it any further, just go online. It’s gone viral. You can see it.

But this… France felt, evidently, as it’s trying to put its best cultural foot forward, the right thing to do is to mock this very central moment in Christianity where Jesus, at His Last Supper, gives His body and blood in anticipation of the cross.

And so it’s presented, though, is this gross sort of flippant mockery. France, which used to be called the eldest daughter of the church, Paris, that gave us Thomas Aquinas taught there, and Vincent de Paul was there, King Louis IX., St. Louis. France has sent catholic missionaries all over the world.

France, whose culture, and I mean the honoring of the individual, of human rights and of freedom, is grounded very much in Christianity, felt the right thing to do was to mock the Christian faith.

You know, a question I would pose, we all know the answer to it.

Would they ever have dared mock Islam in a similar way?

Would they ever have dreamed of mocking in this gross, you know, public way, a scene from the Quran?

As I say, we all know the answer to that.

I think, folks, what’s interesting here is this deeply secularist, postmodern society knows who its enemy is.

They’re naming it, and we should believe them.

They’re telling us who they are.

We should believe them.

But furthermore, we Christians, we Catholics, should not be sheepish.

We should resist.

We should make our voices heard.

REPORT: Kamala Harris Narrows Down VP List to Three Candidates – All Straight White Males!

Presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has reportedly narrowed down her list of vice-presidential picks to three candidates.

According to Bloomberg, Harris is now coming up with a shortlist and will make a decision by August 7th.

The report states:

Vice President Kamala Harris is zeroing in on a group of potential running mates, as she faces a two-week dash to make the biggest decision of her nascent presidential bid.

Harris is considering a wide range of vice presidential candidates from the Democratic Party’s bench, though people familiar with the process say a short list has emerged including three elected officials with nationwide appeal: Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Kevin Munoz, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, said she “directed her team to begin the process of vetting potential running mates” but declined to elaborate on the search. Harris is expected to make a selection by Aug. 7, in order to align with the party’s plan to virtually nominate a ticket by that date.

…

Allies of Harris say chemistry between the vice president and whoever she picks is just as important as their political attributes. Harris knows firsthand the pressures of being No. 2 on the Democratic ticket and is weighing her experience as she makes a selection, according to her supporters.

Harris’ ascension to become the likely Democratic nominee, after President Joe Biden’s stunning exit from the race, has accelerated what is typically a months-long vetting process of potential running mates. The pick will take place amid a furious effort by Harris to shape the Biden campaign operation in her image, define herself to voters and expand her war chest — all with roughly 100 days until Election Day.

As previously reported by The Gateway Pundit, Harris has tasked the corrupt former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder with vetting the candidates on behalf of the campaign.

While Walz, Kelly and Shapiro may consider themselves moderates in comparison to Harris, readers will know that they are all paid up members of the far-left Democratic Party establishment that is dedicated to destroying America through open borders, woke ideology and a plethora of other socialist ideas.

There are no good choices in this scenrario. The only positive outcome is a pick that makes the Harris campaign even more likely to fail.

REPORT: Barack Obama Threatened to Use the 25th Amendment to Remove Joe Biden After His “Medical Incident” in Las Vegas and Had Kamala Harris’s Approval to Do So

Credit: Getty Images

As The Gateway Pundit’s Kristinn Taylor reported, Biden suffered an “undisclosed medical emergency” while in Las Vegas on July 17 that was never disclosed to the public.

Now, according to a report from a respected longtime investigative journalist, an equally explosive incident followed just a few days later.

On Saturday, Seymour Hersh wrote on his substack that sources told him that Barack Obama had called Biden three days after the disturbing incident. Obama reportedly told Biden on July 20 that he had Kamala Harris’s approval to use the 25th Amendment to kick him out of office.

You read that right. Harris was reportedly on board with declaring Old Joe incapacitated and kicking him to the curb.

From Hersh:

“I went over (reports) this week with a senior official in Washington who helped me fashion an account of a White House in complete disarray,” Hersh said.

“Obama called Biden after breakfast (on July 20) and said, ‘Here’s the deal. We have Kamala’s approval to invoke the 25th Amendment,’” he continued.

Since Hersh’s post is only for paid subscribers, here is the relevant snippet.

Hersh also confirmed that Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries were also directly involved. This correlates with TGP’s extensive reporting of the palace coup.

He went on to write that Obama did not plan on immediately endorsing Kamala, but it was clear that she would “get the nod.”

The Gateway Pundit previously reported Obama initially wanted Mark Kelly at the top of the ticket, but Biden beat him to the punch with Harris.

“He (Obama) had an agenda, and he wanted to seek it through to the end, and he wanted to have control over who would be elected,” Hersh wrote.

LOW-T ALERT: Democratic Activists Launch ‘White Dudes For Harris’ Campaign – With Pete Buttigieg as Guest Speaker!

Credit: Greg Skidmore/Flickr

Democratic activists are launching a “White Dudes For Harris” campaign aimed at drumming up support for the party’s presumptive nominee.

The virtual meeting, which is scheduled to take place on Monday, claims to have had over 10,000 people sign up to the campaign with a view to helping Harris defeat Donald Trump in November.

The website states:

Over 10,000 white men from all across the country are expected to join the effort this week and will be on hand to welcome Vice President Harris to the presidential race and pledge to help get her elected.

Together, we aren’t going to sit around and let the MAGA crowd bully other white guys into voting for a hateful and divisive ideology because we understand that under MAGA everyone loses.

We know that as white dudes, we have both a strong, and positive role to play in America’s shared future, and it begins with all of us cutting through the MAGA crap and reminding the folks who have co-opted American symbols what America actually means. We are excited to join together with you in this fight.

The planned launch comes after 164,000 White women broke the world record for largest Zoom call on Thursday which was joined by the likes of the singer Pink, soccer player Megan Rapinoe and actress Connie Britton. During the call, Britton is reported to have dubbed the meeting “Karens for Kamala.”

On the campaign’s X page, organizers confirmed that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg would be a guest at the meeting.

Big news! We just announced that Secretary of Transportation @PeteButtigieg will be joining our first call on Monday.

Either way, it is clear that Democrats are aggressively mobilizing behind their candidate. The threat is real, and America’s future is on the line.

I’ve seen a lot of talk about white woman for Harris- what about white dudes for Harris? Do you all think we can raise 6k to hit 10k total raised in the next hour to support @KamalaHarris?

Massive Overflow Crowd for Trump-Vance Rally in St. Cloud, MN (Video)

A massive overflow crowd remained outside to watch speeches by Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and President Trump as the Republican presidential ticket took the stage at a ‘sold out’ rally at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota Saturday night. Capacity for the rally was estimated to be around 8,000.

Trump is making a play for Minnesota after losing the state by about 230,000 votes in 2020 and by about 44,000 votes in 2016. A Fox News poll released this week has Kamala Harris leading Trump in Minnesota by six points, 52 percent to 46 percent in a head-to-head match-up (similar to the 2020 vote) and 47 percent to 41 percent in a five-way race..

Trump has been holding rallies at indoor arenas since he survived a would-be assassin’s bullet that miraculously only hit his right ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. One supporter, Corey Comperatore, was killed and two supporters were wounded in the stands behind Trump during the attack by a lone gunman who was killed by a Secret Service sniper, according to initial reports.

Video taken by the Trump Campaign’s Dan Scavino, Jr. shows the crowd watching Trump’s speech live on a jumbotron:

JD Vance Has Reportedly Received His Secret Service Code Name

Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio has picked his Secret Service code name, according to a new report.

According to the Daily Mail, Vance’s code name is “Bobcat.” Former President Donald Trump’s code name is “Mogul.”

The Mail offered two sports-linked reasons for the choice, which it said was made by the candidate from a list of possible names.

Ohio University’s nickname is the Bobcats, the Mail noted. Then there are the Breathitt County Bobcats of Kentucky, where Vance spent summers as a child.

The Mail said the name was picked as a nod to his connections in both states, citing what it called a longtime friend it did not name.

In a recent speech in Middletown, Ohio, Vance said the Republican ticket of him and Trump would shine a light on  “forgotten communities all across our country,” according to NPR.

“We’re going to fight for every single worker in this country,” he pledged. “If you work hard and play by the rules, you ought to be able to put a good dinner on the table and send your kids to whatever vacation and whatever school you want. To work hard and play by the rules, you get a good life. It’s that simple.”

In his speech, Vance said Trump “is not the caricature or the lie that the media has told you that he is.”

“He is a person who believes this very simple thing, and they call him a radical for it, but it happens just to be common sense: his radical idea is that America should make more stuff in its own country for its own citizens, and that the American nation belongs to the American people,” he said.

In a Michigan speech, he lashed out at Vice President Kamala Harris, who is now the expected Democratic presidential nominee.

“Kamala Harris said something to the effect that I have no loyalty to this country,” he said, according to The Hill.

“Well, I don’t know Kamala. I did serve in the United States Marine Corps and built a business. What the hell have you done other than collect a check?” he said.

During the Michigan rally, he said Democrats did not even let the people pick their party’s nominee, according to ABC.

“Elite Democrats got in a smoke-filled room and decided to throw Joe Biden overboard,” he said.

“This is not OK, ladies and gentlemen. You cannot, for three-and-a-half years, take a guy who clearly didn’t have the mental capacity to do the job,” Vance said.

“Kamala Harris lied about it. My Senate Democratic colleagues lied about it. The media lied about it,” Vance said, calling the coverup an “insult to voters.”

Vance offered a preview of a second Trump administration.

“We’re going to shut down that border, we’re going to put American citizens first, because that’s what American citizens are gonna elect us to do. It’s common sense,” he said.

Halloween in July

Halloween in July

Corporate America is at war with tradition and time itself.

Credit: Lindsey Nicholson/UCG/Universal Images Group via Getty Images

A week or two ago, I saw something ominous at the grocery store.

As I walked from the frozen food section, past the pharmacy, and towards the butter-and-cheese alcove, I spotted a cardboard display that looked to be filled with snack-sized candy of some sort. My eyes fixed on the unmistakable orange packaging with purple trim. Could it be? Reese’s peanut butter cup pumpkins? No, it couldn’t be—not in mid-July. Not when the weather still approaches 90 degrees on most days. Not when lawns are still being mowed. Not when barbeques are still being fired up.

Halloween is more than three months away, I kept reassuring myself.

But, as I drew closer to the display, I found that my eyes had not been deceiving me. There they were: dozens of individually wrapped peanut butter cups that had been stamped in the vague shape of a stout gourd.

Like Election Day, Halloween has apparently turned into a kind of ill-defined ongoing season. And, as far as I’m concerned, buying Reese’s pumpkins in July is akin to early voting. Indignantly, I threw a couple into my cart.

To be clear, candy makers have every right to capitalize to the fullest extent possible on the American obsession with Halloween, which has arguably become the national festival most synonymous with the consumption of candy. In fact, as it turned out, the Reese’s pumpkins were not even the only Halloween-themed candy that had been put, by my lights, prematurely on display at this particular grocery store. A few days later, I walked past a huge table overflowing with bags of candy corn and similar sugar-and-corn-syrup-derived confections.

Maybe this is old news to you. I am not naïve. Like the rest of us, I have grown accustomed to the present arrangement in which retailers seek to sell holiday- (or “holiday”-) related foods and goods further and further ahead of a given holiday. It no longer fazes me to see Halloween candy stocked at the start of the school year, even though, when I was in school, Halloween was not something that was even contemplated until the end of the September.

Yet there was something unnerving—something cynical—about the choice to make available those Reese’s pumpkins just a few weeks after the Fourth of July. The early placement of the pumpkin peanut butter cups worked to strip them of their raison d’etre. They were no longer something consumers were trained to wait for but instead just another “choice” consumers could avail themselves of.

I found the implications startling. By this logic, why should grocery stores not be free to stock all Reese’s holiday shapes and varieties simultaneously throughout the year? Under such a scheme, one could choose from among Reese’s pumpkins, Christmas trees, and Easter eggs at any time, or, at least, at times that seemed far removed from their proper seasonal context.

In fact, this would be in keeping with general trends in the sale of ostensibly season-specific goods. Once, so-called “Christmas in July” sales were conducted with a certain sense of cheeky fun; stores knew it was faintly ridiculous for consumers to stock up on Christmas trinkets amid their summer vacations. But when department stores start assembling their actual Christmas displays sometime in September—as I have personally seen some stores do in recent years—they do so not with a self-conscious sense of their own untimeliness but with an actual commitment to selling this stuff up to the 25th of December.

Yet, as I think about it, perhaps it is a good thing that retailers no longer make a minimal, semi-sincere effort to put their wares on sale at the appropriate time of the year. This enables us to more clearly see that when we consume Reese’s pumpkins or purchase cheap Christmas ornaments made overseas we are not “celebrating” anything at all. We are merely participating in the free market. If it is weird to buy this junk in July, is it really any better to purchase it during its intended season?

Ironically, merchants’ attempts to stretch out the seasons of Halloween or Christmas are always oriented in one direction: earlier. As we all know, when those days have passed, the foods and goods associated with them are usually cleared out of stores with great haste. I have long felt there are few sights sadder than the grocery store candy aisle on the day after Christmas: a heap of picked-over confections, many marked with discount labels in an attempt to clear the remnant for the Valentine’s Day treats that are sure to be on display on or around New Year’s.

This, too, is a useful if depressing reminder of the mercilessness of the economy in which our cultural traditions have become bound up: We may wish to hang onto a particular holiday or season for sentimental reasons, but for retailers, the goal is forever to advance to the next holiday or season—even if it is many, many, many months away.

Rest in Peace, Lapham

Rest in Peace, Lapham

The dean of Harper’s made the modern magazine what it is.

Lewis Lapham’s influence on the shape of the American magazine through his work at Harper’s can hardly be overstated. Many tributes have been written to this effect in the past few days, and I suspect many more will be written in the weeks and months to come as all the little eminences of American literary life crawl out to draw their lines of connection to the great man. Lapham was like a liberal William F. Buckley, in that he cultivated, through his magazine, a sensibility whose influence emanated far beyond its pages. But unlike Buckley, who with National Review gave his readers politics, Lapham only sought to suggest an approach to politics (and to life more generally). His sensibility was that of the genial skeptic. And, as he wrote in a 1984 manifesto, with Harper’s he aimed “to ask questions, not to provide ready-made answers, to say, in effect, look at this, see how much more beautiful and strange and full of possibility is the world than can be imagined by the mythographers at Time or NBC.”

That vision of Harper’s still holds today. It is not a compliment to say that it is the best general interest magazine in America; it is just a fact. This is due in large part to the magazine’s structure, which Lapham designed in the early 1980s, shortly after he took over as the magazine’s editor (for a tenure that lasted until 2006). Harper’s had existed in several incarnations to that point. At its founding in 1850, it had been a sort of thesaurus of current affairs. It had subsequently become a literary magazine, then a journal of opinion and policy, and then, finally, before Lapham took the reins, a failure, about to go out of business. Lapham’s genius in rebuilding Harper’s was he realized that people already got their news and opinion from the daily papers and television, and that for a magazine to be a worthwhile product, it has to exist outside of all that. (This realization became even more pertinent with the advent of the Internet.) A successful magazine lives in its own world with its own rules, where, when it is pleasing, it can safely peer into any number of other worlds and comment on their proceedings.

In Harper’s, Lapham achieved that effect through a series of formal innovations, which still form the skeleton of the magazine today. These are the Readings, Annotations, and Index. The first is composed of a series of excerpts (often very funny) pulled from recent books, poems, speeches, government documents, advertising copy—whatever the editors imagine might amuse, delight, or horrify their readers in any given month. The second is usually a map or some other document reproduced with a written explanation of its elements. And the third, the greatest of these, consists of a series of statistics that, when taken together, read almost like a short story. One of Lapham’s literary models was Edward Gibbon, and at its best, the Index is a Gibbonian exercise in antithesis. I read it aloud with my wife whenever a new issue of the magazine appears in the mail.

As for the rest of the magazine, Lapham believed that on the strength of the departments, he could give over the features and reviews to longform reporting and well-thought-out essays, which often took years for authors to finish. A quick glance through the Harper’s archive seems to confirm that he was right in that belief. Everyone knows that the magazine published David Foster Wallace’s famous essay about cruise ships (commissioned by Charis Conn, who wrote the bulk of the Index under Lapham), but in that period the magazine also published a great debate between Neil Postman and Camille Paglia and a strange, raw symposium on abortion that I don’t think would be possible today. My favorite thing published during Lapham’s time is Don DeLillo’s novella Pafko at the Wall: It is worth the whole magazine put together.

I haven’t said much here about Lapham’s own writing style. Gibbon was one model, but he also looked up to Sir Thomas Browne. And like many other admirers of that gentle doctor, his love of the ornate was a dangerous game. “If one fails in the style of Pascal, one is merely flat; if one fails in the style of Browne, one is ridiculous,” Lytton Strachey once observed. “He who plays with the void, who dallies with eternity, who leaps from star to star, is in danger at every moment of being swept into utter limbo, and tossed forever in the Paradise of Fools.” Lapham only rarely fell into the void, but all the same, I do not think it is for his writing he will be remembered.

I never knew Lewis Lapham personally. My only encounter with him could hardly even be called a brush: I emailed him last year asking for a contribution to a symposium published on the occasion of Cormac McCarthy’s death. He declined, almost immediately, but with more grace than is usually expected in a refusal. I thought that would be the end of it; it usually is with these cold-call emails. But a funny thing happened. Over the next few months, I would occasionally receive pitches—none of them worked out, I’m sorry to say—from writers who began their emails with something along the lines of “Lewis Lapham thought this might be a good fit for The Lamp…”

I don’t know what to make of that recommendation, except that I find it impressive that at 89 years of age, the man’s mind was still whirring and that his sight was still cast all over the literary world. It is a world that he deserves much credit for creating. His death this week did not come as a shock, but it is a melancholy event all the same. May he rest in peace.

He said that ‘America is done for’ if Kamala Harris wins the presidency.

Millions of other Americans would definitely agree with this point.

According to recent polling, Trump and Harris are tied in Michigan.

The Hill reports:

Harris, Trump tied in Michigan survey

Vice President Harris and former President Trump are nearly tied in the critical battleground state of Michigan, according to a poll released four days after President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Harris.

Harris and Trump are both polling at 41 percent, according to a Detroit News-WDIV-TV poll conducted this week and released late Thursday. The poll was conducted among general election voters in Michigan, and Harris is polling ahead by a razor-thin third of a percentage point — well within the poll’s margin of error.

The poll also found that 10 percent of Michiganders support independent Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and 6 percent said they were undecided.

Among independent voters, Kennedy led with 27 percent support, Harris was behind him with 26 percent and Trump pulled in 25 percent, while nearly 18 percent said they were undecided.

Michigan voters had better think long and hard about what a Kamala Harris presidency would do their state.
