The Trump Justice Department is mulling dropping federal charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Adams was recently indicted on charges including wire fraud, bribery and conspiracy out of the Southern District of New York, becoming the first sitting New York City mayor to face criminal prosecution.

Charges include conspiracy theory, wire fraud, bribery and solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national. Read the indictment.

According to federal prosecutors Adams accepted $10 million in illegal “straw” campaign contributions and bribes from foreign countries, including Turkey, Israel, China, Qatar, South Korea, and Uzbekistan going back nearly a decade.

“For nearly a decade, Adams sought and accepted improper valuable benefits, such as luxury international travel, including from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him,” the indictment reads.

“As Adams’s prominence and power grew, his foreign-national benefactors sought to cash in on their corrupt relationships with him, particularly when, in 2021, it became clear that Adams would become New York City’s mayor,” the filing said, according to The New York Post.

“Adams agreed, providing favorable treatment in exchange for the illicit benefits he received.”

Federal agents stormed Gracie Mansion—the official residence of New York City Mayor Eric Adams last November, executing a search warrant connected to his public corruption indictment.

According to The New York Times, federal prosecutors in Trump’s DOJ are in talks to drop the charges against Eric Adams.

The New York Times reported:

Senior Justice Department officials under President Trump have held discussions with federal prosecutors in Manhattan about the possibility of dropping their corruption case against Mayor Eric Adams of New York, according to five people with knowledge of the matter.

The officials have also spoken to Mr. Adams’s defense team since Mr. Trump took office, the people said. The defense team is led by Alex Spiro, who is also the personal lawyer for Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and one of the president’s closest advisers.

Mr. Adams was indicted in September on charges including bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign contributions after an investigation that began in 2021. He has pleaded not guilty, maintained his innocence and contended that he is being prosecuted because he criticized the Biden administration.

In recent weeks, Mr. Adams, a Democrat, has curried favor with Mr. Trump, traveling to Mar-a-Lago, attending the inauguration and saying that, from now on, he will share any criticisms of the president in private. Mr. Trump has the power to pardon Mr. Adams, and in December said that the mayor had been treated “pretty unfairly” by prosecutors, and suggested he was considering issuing a pardon.

Eric Adams has been working with the Trump Administration to deport illegal aliens.

Last month Eric Adams dared people to ‘cancel’ him for wanting to work with President Trump and his Border Czar Tom Homan regarding deportations of illegal aliens.

They may have heard about Michigan’s highly partisan top law enforcement official when she wrongfully charged 16 MI GOP electors with eight felonies each for casting an alternate slate of electoral votes for President Trump. All but two of the electors are senior citizens. After several years of being put through hell by the ongoing threat of facing life in prison and being framed as a “criminal” by local news media outlets simply for casting an alternate electoral vote for President Trump, many of the electors today are, sadly, facing serious health issues. It’s also possible someone with no ties to Michigan could have read about how Dana Nessel shopped for a prosecutor willing to charge Matt DePerno, her popular, Trump-endorsed Republican opponent for AG in 2022, with crimes he is still fighting in court today. As a result of the charges against him, DePerno’s business has struggled, his reputation has been damaged in his community and with clients, and his bank account has been drained as he defends what he says are bogus and trumped up charges against him. Matt DePerno was the lawyer in the case involving the Dominion Voting Machines in Antrim County, MI, where 6,000 Trump votes were given to Joe Biden.

And finally, it’s possible someone living outside of the state of Michigan heard about AG Nessel when it was discovered that she covered up a massive statewide voter registration investigation involving GBI Strategies, a Democrat Party-funded organization, that took place only one month before the 2020 election. Although AG Nessel’s investigators took a lead role in the investigation, and criminal activity was determined to have taken place, she never pressed any charges. The FBI took over the case several months after it began, and it is still being hidden from the public today.

Although the MI State Police report says a cache of guns, including semi-automatic rifles with silencers and modified pistols, were found in the headquarters of GBI and they belonged to Gary Bell, the alleged owner of GBI Strategies, MI AG Nessel tried to convince the media the guns belonged to a landlord.

Today, the woman who has made a name for herself as possibly the most lawless attorney general in America posted a video on X condemning an Executive Order by President Trump to freeze federal funding for specific programs. These programs include those that are beloved by Democrats, like DEI and the Green New Deal (scam), and the funding of non-governmental agencies that undermine our national interests.

Last night, the government issued a devastating memo freezing critical federal funds, and we’re already seeing the effects across Michigan. From Medicaid to Head Start to essential services, like unemployment services. This freeze is threatening programs that millions of Michiganders depend on for their daily survival,” Nessel told Michigan citizens.

Nessel then explained how she has joined 22 other Democrat Attornies General “to take swift action” to “halt this unprecedented and illegal maneuver.”  And then, in a “You can’t make this up” moment,  Nessel warned that “Michiganders will suffer” and “Children will go hungry!” The dishonest AG also warned, “Communities will lose safety protections,” she warned, leaving many to question if non-governmental organizations are being used to keep communities safe in Michigan.

Unless the children are eating DEI or the Green New Deal, no one will go hungry as a result of Trump’s Executive Order, Ms. Nessel.

OMB Q&A REGARDING MEMORANDUM M-25-13

In implementing President Trump’s Executive Orders, OMB issued guidance requesting that agencies temporarily pause, to the extent permitted by law, grant, loan or federal financial assistance programs that are implicated by the President’s Executive Orders.

Any program that provides direct benefits to individuals is not subject to the pause.

The guidance establishes a process for agencies to work with OMB to determine quickly whether any program is inconsistent with the President’s Executive Orders. A pause could be as short as a day. In fact, OMB has worked with agencies and has already approved many programs to continue even before the pause has gone into effect.

Any payment required by law to be paid will be paid without interruption or delay.

Q: Is this a freeze on all Federal financial assistance?

A: No, the pause does not apply across-the-board. It is expressly limited to programs, projects, and activities implicated by the President’s Executive Orders, such as ending DEI, the Green New Deal, and funding nongovernmental organizations that undermine the national interest.

Q: Is this a freeze on benefits to Americans like SNAP or student loans?

A: No, any program that provides direct benefits to Americans is explicitly excluded from the pause and exempted from this review process. In addition to Social Security and Medicare, already explicitly excluded in the guidance, mandatory programs like Medicaid and SNAP will continue without pause.Funds for small businesses, farmers, Pell grants, Head Start, rental assistance, and other similar programs will not be paused. If agencies are concerned that these programs may implicate the President’s Executive Orders, they should consult OMB to begin to unwind these objectionable policies without a pause in the payments.

Q: Is the pause of federal financial assistance an impoundment?

A: No, it is not an impoundment under the Impoundment Control Act. It is a temporary pause to give agencies time to ensure that financial assistance conforms to the policies set out in the President’s Executive Orders, to the extent permitted by law. Temporary pauses are a necessary part of program implementation that have been ordered by past presidents to ensure that programs are being executed and funds spent in accordance with a new President’s policies and do not constitute impoundments.

Q: Why was this pause necessary?

A: To act as faithful stewards of taxpayer money, new administrations must review federal programs to ensure that they are being executed in accordance with the law and the new President’s policies.

When a state’s top law enforcement officer intentionally pushes inflammatory and utterly false information to citizens of the state she represents, she should be impeached or, at a minimum, have her law license removed. In November 2023, MI State Rep. Jim DeSana (R) attempted to have Dana Nessel impeached but was ignored by a radical Democrat-majority legislature. That may change now, given the newly elected Republican majority in the MI State House.

January 6 defendants Kash Kelly and Karl Dresch

There are many stories about January 6 that fall by the wayside. Some January 6 defendants got extensive media coverage, especially in the immediate aftermath of January 6, but this is not representative of the overall body. Most defendants have remained nameless, faceless hostages. Real Americans have been rendered as caricatures as a way of pigeonholing them and glossing over the real experiences of that complicated day. Here are more of their stories.

Kash Kelly

January 6, defendant Kash Kelly was well-known as a conservative activist, streamer, and influencer before January 6. In fact, outside of notoriety from January 6 coverage, Kash was the most well-known defendant to be held with us inside the DC jail or “DC Gulag.” The Indiana native is the founder of the Streetlights Unity Movement, and has dedicated his life to turning urban youth away from lives of crime, himself being a former Latin King having turned away from gang life.

Kash Kelly went to the Capitol on January 6 intending to lead a sit-in protest only to bear witness to police brutality against protestors. Kash ended up walking through the Capitol, taking photos with statues, and leaving the building. For this, he was arrested after January 6.

Despite having only been charged with misdemeanors after January 6, Kash Kelly wound up inside the DC Gulag. Inside the jail, Kash eventually joined the custodian team inside of C2B (the “Patriot Pod” wing of the jail), and he worked to improve racial relations between the largely black jail staff and the largely non-black January 6 inmates.

Kash also helped his fellow defendants in an even more important way by releasing his own personal cell phone video from January 6. According to the feds in early 2021, and contradicting the claims of most defendants in the aftermath of January 6, police never launched flashbang grenades into the crowds on January 6.

On May 27, 2021 Julie Kelly published video from Kash proving the government had lied about its usage of ordnance on the crowds on the West Terrace. This was highly important to those of us accused of planning to storm the Capitol but who actually reacted to excessive force from police.

Upon finishing his sentence last year, Kash resumed his activism and returned to livestreaming. Recently, Kash Kelly, myself, Kenneth Harrelson, and Robert Gieswein – all January 6 defendants and original 2021 inmates from the DC Gulag – reunited to discuss our memories of life inside the jail:

Karl Dresch

Defendant Karl Dresch is another OG member of the DC Gulag crew. A Michigan local, and the son of a respected state legislator, Karl wasn’t shy about politics and was actively involved in the local Republican scene. Karl came to Washington, DC, on January 6 to listen to President Trump’s speech with friends. He later peacefully walked throughout the Capitol building and exited the building. Karl would then spend half a year in solitary confinement, in various jails after his arrest, and most prominently in the DC jail – the DC Gulag.

Karl was a staple of life in the Gulag, known for his jolly disposition, friendliness, and absurd humor. After Michael Curzio got time served on his misdemeanor plea deal, Karl Dresch was able to get a similar deal. While Curzio’s judge forced him to serve the maximum sentence of 6 months for his misdemeanor to make a point, in Dresch’s case he ended up serving more than his maximum sentence because of when the plea deal was accepted, meaning Karl served over 6 months on a misdemeanor charge that carries 6 months maximum.

Upon exiting the DC jail to freedom, Karl Dresch would give one of the first interviews a January 6 inmate would ever give on the conditions inside the Gulag. Washington congressional candidate Jerrod Sessler was conveniently outside of the DC jail with a film team. Sessler was stunned to learn that Dresch was not only a January 6 defendant but had also been inside the jail for months. Karl would recount the conditions inside the jail and the treatment of his fellow defendants.

Sessler uploaded the interview, which caught significant attention, and Dresch and Sessler have stayed friends since. Karl wouldn’t forget those of us left in DC and remained an advocate for us. Much like with Michael Curzio and Kash Kelly, I reconnected with Karl after I finished prison, and similarly had a long-form interview with him. This is January 6 Unfiltered with Karl Dresch:

Now that January 6 defendants are no longer subject to probation or supervised release, I and others can speak freely with each other. The patriots I languished with behind bars in the DC Gulag have been hastily reconnecting. With each day, more and more sign on to tell their story. What really happened on January 6, how they were smeared by the feds and media, and what they suffered through while locked up, and much more.

My phone has been on fire today as I reconnected with many of the men I was incarcerated with after January 6. And I’m now prepared to unveil a project that has been simmering in my head some time.

These interviews, along with hundreds of pages of primary documents, will form the basis for a multi-volume history series, Artifice and Betrayal: The History of the DC Gulag. Now that their voices have been restored, the defendants will be the ones to write the authoritative history of January 6 and the lawfare that followed, not the prosecutors and media.

Former USDA Inspector General Phyllis Fong Credit: U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Inspector General

The Trump Administration is not playing around with those who choose to defy the 47th President, and one government bureaucrat learned the hard way earlier this week.

As Jim Hoft previously reported, Trump fired 17 Inspectors General in a Friday night purge to punctuate the end of his first week in office.

Trump made an exception, though, for current Department of Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph V. Cuffari Jr., who is conducting multiple investigations into the Secret Service failures that led to two assassination attempts on his life.

The White House stated that they removed these partisan hacks to make room for people who will actually “uphold the rule of law and protect Democracy.”

Trump also defended the decision while speaking with reporters on Saturday, saying, “It’s a very common thing to do.”

Now Reuters revealed today that security agents physically removed the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Agriculture from her office on Monday after she defied the Trump White House following her firing.

Phyllis Fong, a 22-year veteran of the USDA, told colleagues that she had no intention of leaving her post after the White House terminated her, claiming Trump had not followed proper procedure.

Reuters reviewed an email by Fong in which she stated the independent Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency “has taken the position that these termination notices do not comply with the requirements set out in law and therefore are not effective at this time.”

Fong refused to comment when contacted by Reuters.

As Inspector General, Fong was responsible for audits, evaluations, investigations, and law enforcement efforts relating to USDA’s programs and operations. But she ultimately failed in this mission.

As The House Committee on Education and Workforce pointed out on their X account, Fong was informed of fraud in the Feeding Our Future program, a $250 million scheme that took funds from hungry children and refused to act.

Despite her failures and complicity in corruption, she felt entitled to her position until finally being escorted out.

President Trump made good on his promise that he would get to the bottom of what is going on with the drones over New Jersey. He confirmed they are ours and pose no threat to America.

Thank you, Mr. President, for doing what the Biden Administration couldn’t do: give us answers.

Though the President made it clear the drones don’t pose a risk, he didn’t tell us there is no risk from something else. The question now remains: what are these drones searching for, what are they “researching” and is it dangerous? I believe it is. That’s why the President is being so vague.

We still can’t say for sure what these drones were “researching,” but we do have strong evidence as to what it could be and why we all need to be concerned. In this podcast, we reveal the possibilities and why it should matter to all of us.

Plus, sneaking into America needs to be made a felony on the first offense. It is not. As Democrats flip out over President Trump’s mass-deportation plan that is well underway. We need to give judges the power to harshly punish first-time offenders. That punishment can be used as a deterrent.

The rapper’s ex-personal assistant shares allegations against his former boss in the ID series ‘The fall of Diddy’.

The real-life saga of multimillionaire rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ fall in disgrace is a booming business.

As he lays incarcerated pending trial for racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion and Transportation to engage in prostitution, he is also battling dozens of rape and sexual abuse lawsuits.

And Diddy’s dire straits are fueling a trend in TV and streaming: there are at least six known documentaries or docuseries that have either been released or are confirmed to be currently in production about Diddy.

‘Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy’ is streaming on Peacock, focusing on Combs’s early years; ‘The Fall of Diddy’ was aired by Investigation Discovery (ID) and is available for streaming on Max; 50 Cent’s ‘Diddy Do It?’ will be coming to Netflix; TMZ’s Series – TMZ has produced several specials, covering various aspects of the rapper’s legal and personal issues, and ‘Diddy: Monster’s Fall’ is available on Freevee.

Other documentaries have been said to be in the works: one by ABC News Studios for Hulu, and another unspecified project by ID Discovery in collaboration with Rolling Stone.

ID’s ‘The Fall of Diddy’ gained the headlines this week when Diddy’s former personal assistant broke down in describing the moment the rapper allegedly ordered him to have sex with a girl in front of Diddy and his crew to ‘prove his loyalty’.

Phillip Pines spoke to Mara S. Campo in the Investigation Discovery’s docuseries, and talked about the shocking allegations he is making against his disgraced former boss, in a lawsuit he filed in December.

New York Post reported:

“Pines, who allegedly worked for Combs from 2019 to 2021, is suing him for sexual battery, sexual harassment and sex trafficking, claiming that his job duties were to enable Combs’ alleged sexual activities.”

Diddy has pleaded not guilty to the Federal charges, and also denies all the allegations from the plaintiffs.

“In his new interview for the ID doc, Pines claimed loyalty was ‘everything’ to Diddy, adding that the moment the disgraced musician allegedly told him to ‘prove himself’ was ‘something I won’t forget’.”

Diddy is incarcerated awaiting trial in Brooklyn MDC.

Diddy was drinking all day before the alleged ‘freak-off’, Pines claims. He says he was pressured to join the sex party after his boss offered him alcohol.

“’I took a shot (of alcohol) with them. That was his way of making sure you felt comfortable’, Pines recounted. ‘I go back to the office, sit there, get summoned again, take a shot, take a shot. He’s out of his mind. He’s in rare form as we would call it’.

Tearing up, he continued, ‘I remember hearing the words ’prove your loyalty to me, (your) King’. He grabbed me by the shoulders, gave me a massage […], handed me a condom, pushed me to a girl that was on the couch, a guest. I froze before it took place, I didn’t know what was happening. In the moment it felt like what, is this fun for him? Is this a test for entertainment, does he know he’s doing this? Is he that gone?’”

Pines said he didn’t know what to do and that the girl gave him consent. He alleges to have ‘performed’ for a while until Diddy left the room.

The real-life saga of Diddy is a booming business.

Pines claims he had seen Diddy physically assault employees who did not obey his orders.

He says he comes from a Christian background, ‘leaning on those morals’.

Diddy’s attorney:

“No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted, or sex trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor. We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason. Fortunately, a fair and impartial judicial process exists to find the truth, and Mr. Combs is confident he will prevail in court.”

In the 2024 Election, President Donald Trump garnered 16% of the Black vote, double the amount from the 2020 (8%).  In a new poll published earlier this week by AtlastIntel from January 21-23rd, 69% of Black voters so far approve of President Trump’s performance.

President Trump has come out the gate with “shock and awe,” signing a plethora of Executive Orders and taking action against the immigration crisis that is wearing down major metropolitan areas and testing the limits of their constituents, especially minority citizens.

In his first term, President Trump championed the Black community by signing long-term funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), securing them $255 million in annual, permanent funding and forgiving $322 million in disaster loans for a handful of schools.

He signed the First Steps Act, which reduced mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug offenses and granting credits for good behavior.  Almost 90% of those impacted by this law were Black.

President Trump also created Opportunity Zones, bringing in billions of dollars in private investment to help ignite economic growth in many minority communities.  He brought Black unemployment to an all-time low, advocated for school choice programs, and established a $1 billion fund for minority-owned businesses though the Commerce Department.

But the high approval rating, the doubling of vote share among Blacks, and the promise to be a President for all American citizens didn’t dissuade the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts from going full-blown political with a race-baiting billboard depicting John Lewis and protesters being confronted by Alabama State Troopers in the 1965 “Bloody Sunday” march.

Billboards apparently sponsored by the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts have popped up in the Montgomery area, featuring President Donald Trump’s popular “Make America Great Again” slogan pasted over a picture of the infamous Bloody Sunday in Selma.

The photo appeared on at least one billboard observed by 1819 News, but other reports state identical billboards are scattered throughout the county; all featuring the name of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) pasted at the bottom.

On March 7, 1965, approximately 600 civil rights activists set out to march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in protest of racial discrimination in voting.  They were attacked by the Alabama State Troopers, some on horseback, using tear gas and billy clubs.  The protest led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  By a percentage, more Republicans supported the bill than Democrats.

The billboard hosting the race-baiting ad is owned by Lamar Advertising, which is also listed as a “Sustaining Guarantor,” meaning they donate at least $25,000.

According to the museum’s 2023 Annual Report, the most recent one published, the City and County of Montgomery fund the museum with $3.182 million dollars, approximately 69% of its annual revenue.  The museum received $437,014 from “Federal, State, and Local Grants” as well.

Former Democrat Senator Bob Menendez, 71, sobbed in court as he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for bribery and corruption.

Prosecutors asked SDNY Judge Sidney Stein to sentence Menendez to 15 years in prison.

Bob Menendez’s lawyers initially asked for a 2-year sentence, however, after they changed it to 8 years after the judge sentenced the former lawmaker’s co-conspirators to 7 years and 8 years respectively.

Menendez sobbed as he begged Judge Stein to have mercy on him.

The judge sentenced Menendez to 11 years!! This is pretty much a life sentence for 71-year-old Menendez.

The judge did not impose a fine on Menendez.

Menendez’s co-conspirators were sentenced to prison on Wednesday. Wael Hana was sentenced to 8 years and Fred Daibes was sentenced to 7 years.

Menendez resigned on August 20 after then-Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other powerful Democrats pressured him to step down following his conviction.

New Jersey’s Democrat Governor Phil Murphy appointed his former Chief of Staff George Helmy to temporarily replace Menendez for the remainder of the term. In November Democrat Andy Kim won the senate election to serve with Cory Booker.

“While I fully intend to appeal the jury’s verdict, all the way and including to the Supreme Court, I do not want the Senate to be involved in a lengthy process that will detract from its important work,” Menendez wrote in his resignation letter to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

“Furthermore, I cannot preserve my rights upon a successful appeal, because factual matters before the ethics committee are not privileged,” Menendez wrote.

“I am proud of the many accomplishments I’ve had on behalf of New Jersey, such as leading the federal effort for Superstorm Sandy recovery, preserving and funding Gateway and leading the federal efforts to help save our hospitals, State and municipalities, as well as New Jersey families through a once in a century COVID pandemic,” Menendez wrote.

Last summer convicted Senator Bob Menendez on all bribery and corruption charges.

The jury returned the verdict following a 9-week trial. Menendez did not testify.

In October 2023 Bob Menendez was charged with acting as a foreign agent in a superseding indictment.

The indictment filed by a federal grand jury in Manhattan claims Menendez “provided sensitive U.S. Government information and took other steps that secretly aided the Government of Egypt.”

Menendez was previously hit with a second superseding indictment for praising Qatar in exchange for luxury watches.

Bob Menendez and his wife Nadine Menendez were charged with obstruction of justice in an 18-count indictment.

Special agents discovered $500,000 of cash stuffed into envelopes in closets. “Some of the cash was stuffed in the Senator’s jacket pockets. Menendez’s wife Nadine Menendez was given a “no-show” or “low-show” job, a Mercedes Benz and other things of value, US Attorney Damian Williams said last year.

“This case has always been about shocking levels of corruption, hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in the form of cash, gold bars, a Mercedes Benz. This wasn’t politics as usual, this was politics for profit. And now that a jury has convicted Bob Menendez, his years of selling his office to the highest bidder have finally come to an end,” US Attorney Damian Williams said outside the courthouse in Manhattan last year.

Nadine Menendez is set to be sentenced in March.

President Trump has a straightforward message to federal employees who refuse to show up for in-person work: “You’re fired.”

As The Gateway Pundit reported on Tuesday, Trump offered buyouts to millions of federal workers if they resign by February 6. The workers who accept Trump’s offer will receive pay and benefits through September 30.

DOGE leader and X owner Elon Musk has pointed out this is a fair and generous deal, especially compared to what happens when private sector workers get canned.

It’s important to note that Trump’s offer does not include postal workers, military personnel, immigration officials, or people in national security roles.

But now, the 47th President is raising the stakes for those who refuse his incredibly generous offer. A short time ago, Trump addressed the media regarding this issue during a press conference, during which he signed the Laken Riley Act into law.

He started by reminding federal employees of their obligation to the American people and pointed out how inefficient public workers are without supervision.

“We have informed the federal workforce that if they are working for the federal government, they must show up to the office on time and on schedule,” Trump began. “We don’t want them to work from home because most of the time they’re not working, they’re not very productive.”

Trump then informed federal workers of the dire consequences if they defied him.

“As federal employees, they must meet a high standard,” he continued. “If they don’t agree by February 6 to show up back to work in their office, they will be terminated.”

Scientists in China have genetically engineered mice with two male parents.

The mice were created using manipulated embryonic stem cells.

According to a Reuters report, the mice had “significant developmental abnormalities,” but some lived until adulthood.

In the new study, mice were created through genetic editing of mouse embryonic stem cells targeting a class of mammal-specific genes known as imprinted genes, of which there are about 200, the researchers said.

Stem cells are cells that can develop into various bodily tissues. Embryonic stem cells, present in early-stage embryos, have the capability of developing into all the cell types of the developing fetus. Most kinds of stem cells are less versatile and may help to sustain and restore only the tissues and organs in which they are situated.

The researchers said they modified 20 of the imprinting genes and used cloning technology in order to create the bipaternal mice.

“Generally speaking, imprinted genes have been thought to serve as a ‘lock’ preventing mammals from undergoing unisexual reproduction. However, this widely accepted hypothesis had not been conclusively proven before,” developmental biologist Wei Li of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who helped lead the study, told the outlet.

Li claimed that the study was only focused on animals and that there are “no plans” to try to do it with humans.

“This is a fundamental science study focused on animal models. There are no plans to extend this type of experimentation to humans,” Li said.

For the study, the scientists created 1,081 embryos, and 12 percent of them survived until birth—84 males and 50 females. Over half of them died before becoming fully grown.

“Those reaching adulthood all had developmental defects, experienced a shortened lifespan and were sterile,” the report said.

“The bipaternal mice exhibited developmental disorders, including craniofacial deformities, where their facial width-to-length ratio was broader compared to normal mice. They also had difficulty suckling,” developmental biologist and study co-author Guan-Zheng Luo of Sun Yat-sen University said.
