Lumberton Township Mayor Gina LaPlaca was arrested for driving under the influence — while her toddler was in the back seat.

The March 17 incident was caught on police bodycam and paints a disturbing picture of recklessness, denial, and dangerous entitlement.

The video shows the mayor stumbling through a field sobriety test outside her suburban home, slurring her words, and initially lying to officers when asked if she had been drinking, Fox News reported.

“No, I’m good,” LaPlaca told the officer—just moments before admitting she had, in fact, consumed alcohol.

Police tracked LaPlaca down after a concerned citizen witnessed her erratic driving, capturing video of her swerving dangerously through the streets in a blue BMW with her young son in the backseat.

By the time officers caught up to her, the side of the vehicle was visibly damaged, with a mangled passenger-side mirror—damage LaPlaca claimed she didn’t even remember causing. Inside the car, officers discovered an open water bottle filled with alcohol.

The disgrace didn’t stop there. Additional footage released by Fox News shows a sobbing LaPlaca inside a holding cell, agreeing to a breathalyzer test while simultaneously demanding that officers contact the township’s police chief.

Among the charges LaPlaca now faces:

Endangering the welfare of a child

Driving while intoxicated

Reckless driving

Careless driving likely to endanger

Driving with an expired license

Open container of alcohol in a vehicle

In another damning clip, LaPlaca was seen lying on a police station bench, begging, “Can I please go home and see my son?” She was instead escorted to an ambulance and transported to a hospital.

Her husband, Jason Carty, released a Facebook statement the next day, attempting to deflect criticism by citing addiction.

“Millions of Americans struggle with addiction and never get help. Gina LaPlaca is someone who has struggled, and is now getting the help she needs. I ask that everyone keep her in their thoughts as she moves forward on her road to recovery. Please ignore the exaggerated political hyperbole and keep in mind her passion for helping others. This should not erase all the things she has accomplished for our community.

“Gina is a loving and caring mother and step mom to our son and her step son. Our oldest is a teenager and can see the unkind things being said online. I ask simply that you respect our privacy, be better humans and please show some compassion, thank you.”

Zelensky heading for a clash with Trump.

It seems that Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelensky has decided on a path that’ll send him clashing with US President Donald J. Trump and his administration.

Besides repeatedly breaching the Trump-brokered partial ceasefire on energy and infrastructure, Zelensky has now made a TV statement that contains at least two very controversial points.

First, he again stated that the hundreds of billions of dollars in US aid to the Kiev regime were NOT ‘loans’, but rather, donations – despite the fact that nothing was ever registered as such.

Secondly, he alerted that Ukraine will NOT sign the reworked rare-earth/mineral exploration deal, although his aides had assured US officials that the deal was ready to be signed.

Zelensky also complained that the US would no longer provide free aid to Ukraine: ‘This administration will not do anything for free for us!’

Washington Post reported (via Sputnik):

“The new US [mineral rights] proposal radically changes the conditions sent by Kiev to Trump and does not provide any security guarantees.

[…] The document treats all U.S. support to Ukraine since the conflict began as a debt that must be repaid with interest on revenues earned under the agreement. It gives the U.S. ‘first come, first served’ rights to all energy and mineral investments, effectively putting the U.S. in control.

A senior Ukrainian official said the project raises serious concerns because it reclassifies previous U.S. grants as loans that must be repaid and requires Washington to take ‘50 per cent of all new and existing revenue without making any contribution of its own’.”

Zelensky feels enboldened by Atarmer’s and Macron’s escalation.

On top of it all, Zelensky said that he reached agreements with ‘certain European countries’ for the sharing of intelligence data and to ramp up weapons manufacturing.

The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) has decided to cancel the traditional performance by a comedian at this year’s annual fundraising dinner.

For decades, comedians have spoken at the dinner to roast politicians, journalists, administration officials, and anyone else in attendance.

However, on Friday, WHCA President Eugene Daniels emailed members to announce a unanimous board decision to cancel comedian Amber Ruffin’s performance, expressing a desire to refocus the event on journalism instead of political satire.

“At this consequential moment for journalism, I want to ensure the focus is not on the politics of division but entirely on awarding our colleagues for their outstanding work and providing scholarship and mentorship to the next generation of journalists,” Daniels said, according to a report from The Hill.

“For the past couple of weeks, I have been planning a re-envisioning of our dinner tradition for this year,” Daniels continued. “As the date nears, I will share more details of the plans in place to honor journalistic excellence and a robust, independent media covering the most powerful office in the world.”

Ruffin, who works on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” was announced as the featured comedian in February. However, she is a bitter critic of Trump, and the choice reportedly ruffled some feathers in the White House, which already has a strained relationship with the WHCA.

Prior to Trump, presidents traditionally attended the dinner as a show of goodwill between themselves and the establishment media.

Shortly after it was announced that she would be participating, Ruffin appeared on CNN and said that she hoped President Donald Trump did not attend the dinner.

Recent comedians to host the event include Michelle Wolf, Seth Meyers, and Stephen Colbert.

It is unclear if Trump will be attending this year’s dinner. He did not attend the dinners in 2017, 2018, or 2019 during his first term.

Mariani shared the following description of the Italian voting process:

In Italy, national elections involve a straightforward process for citizens voting at polling stations.

Italians must bring their “tessera elettorale,” a voter card issued by their municipality, along with a valid ID to their designated polling station, typically a local school closed for the occasion. Voting usually spans two days—Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday—to accommodate schedules. At the polling station, voters enter a classroom where booths are set up for privacy.

Before voting, poll workers verify the voter’s identity, record their participation by marking the tessera elettorale and a ledger by hand, and retain the ID temporarily. Voters then use a special indelible pencil to mark their choice on a pre-printed, watermarked “scheda elettorale” (ballot paper), fold it to conceal the vote, and deposit it into a centrally placed cardboard ballot box visible to all.

The voting process is designed for transparency and security. After marking their ballot in the booth, voters exit and place the folded ballot into the box themselves, ensuring no interference.

Once voting concludes (typically Sunday at 11 p.m.), the poll workers—comprising a president, a secretary, and scrutineers, often with party representatives present as witnesses—begin counting the votes immediately in the same classroom.

The ballot box is opened publicly, and each ballot is unfolded, inspected, and tallied by hand. This open process allows witnesses, including candidate or party representatives, to observe and ensure accuracy, with invalid votes (e.g., those with extra markings) set aside after scrutiny.

After the count, the results are meticulously recorded and communicated to the central national registry. The polling station president compiles an official summary of the vote totals, signed by the poll workers and stamped with the station’s unique seal. One copy of this summary, along with all ballots (valid, invalid, and unused), is sent to the local courthouse for safekeeping and potential recounts, while another is delivered to the municipal electoral office. From there, the municipality aggregates the data from all its polling stations and transmits it to the Ministry of the Interior’s Central Directorate for Electoral Services, which oversees the national tally.

(When the vote totals are announced to the public, they also include the number of “white ballots”—those left blank—which are considered a form of protest vote).

This hierarchical reporting ensures that results are verified at multiple levels before being finalized and announced, maintaining a transparent chain of custody from the classroom to the national level.

Mariani goes on to share that in Europe the way they cheat is after the election when groups that win an election are prevented from leading the country because the losing parties join forces to keep the most popular party from power.

Also, Mariani makes a point to share that in Italy the local elections abide by federal laws. There are some allowances for how elections are performed locally, but because elections affect the country as a whole, elections must comply with federal laws. (In the US federal laws like the HAVA Act are virtually ignored in some circumstances.)

(In 2022 nearly 30 million Italians voted in that election. By comparison, 16 million votes were counted in the 2024 election in California.)

Dr. Peter Marks (Source: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

Dr. Peter Marks, the agency’s top vaccine official and a key figure in the first Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed, has been ousted from his post.

​Dr. Peter Marks is an American hematologist-oncologist who has served as the director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2016.

As CBER director, Marks was responsible for reviewing and providing advice during product development, evaluating applications, and making approval decisions based on safety and effectiveness data.

He oversaw the FDA’s vaccine programs and played a pivotal part in the rapid development and approval of the experimental COVID-19 vaccines under Operation Warp Speed during President Donald Trump’s first term.

Sources close to the matter told the Wall Street Journal that Marks submitted his resignation on Friday after a blunt ultimatum from a Health and Human Services (HHS) official: step down voluntarily or face termination.

His exit, effective April 5, marks yet another victory for HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s aggressive push to purge the federal health apparatus of what he calls entrenched bureaucrats peddling “misinformation and lies.”

In a scathing resignation letter addressed to acting FDA Commissioner Sara Brenner, he took direct aim at Kennedy, accusing the Secretary of rejecting “truth and transparency” in favor of “subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.”

“If Peter Marks does not want to get behind restoring science to its golden standard and promoting radical transparency, then he has no place at FDA under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy.”

He had wanted to stay in his position, though his support of immunizations conflicted with Kennedy’s skepticism, people familiar said.

Marks offered to work with Kennedy on holding a series of public meetings on vaccines with the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, and he sent a memo to Kennedy proposing listening sessions on immunizations, one of the people said.

“My hope is that during the coming years, the unprecedented assault on scientific truth that has adversely impacted public health in our nation comes to an end,” he wrote in the letter.

Marks will leave the FDA as Kennedy has begun to reshape the Health and Human Services Department, including by making plans to lay off 10,000 employees and close offices.

Marks is the third top leader at the FDA to leave this year, after the departures of drug chief Dr. Patrizia Cavazzoni and human foods chief Jim Jones.

Marks’ resignation was celebrated online, with prominent voices hailing it as a long-overdue purge of entrenched corruption.

Daily Caller journalist Emily Kopp added, “Peter Marks circumvented FDA’s advisors on COVID boosters, spurred the resignations of top vaccine regulators, and unilaterally approved a Duchenne muscular dystrophy drug that just killed a teenager. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) also weighed in, tweeting, “Last year I held a hearing exposing COVID vaccine malfeasance led by Peter Marks at the FDA. Instead of verifying safety and efficacy of the shots, Marks swept things under the rug and became a cheerleader for the jab. Yesterday Peter Marks resigned from the FDA under RFKjr.!” He followed up, “This is good. In fact, this is what draining the swamp actually looks like. I had the opportunity to depose Peter Marks (recorded interview several hours long), and his conduct at FDA was way out of line. He should have been cut loose years ago.”

A proposed ballot initiative named the “Luigi Mangione Access to Health Care Act” has been submitted to the California Attorney General’s Office in honor of the accused murderer.

Mangione, 26, has become somewhat of a folk hero as he is accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024.

The proposal would amend the state’s Health and Safety Code to curb insurers’ ability to deny or delay medical treatments recommended by physicians.

KTLA reports:

The initiative would make it illegal for an insurance company to “delay, deny or modify any medical procedure or medication” suggested by a licensed physician in the Golden State, which could have serious consequences such as “disability, death, amputation, permanent disfigurement, loss or reduction of any bodily function,” the document stated.

If the initiative is enacted, any decision by an insurer to delay, deny or modify can only be made by a physician on behalf of any insurer. The initiative would also make it a felony to employ someone who is not a physician to review a decision made by a physician.

Should insurance companies delay, they would have to prove by clear and convincing evidence that the medication or procedure was unnecessary or would not result in disability, death, amputation, permanent disfigurement or the loss or reduction of any bodily function.

Public comments about the measure will be open through April 25.

Authorities allege that Mangione meticulously planned the attack and killed Thompson in cold blood, driven by frustration with the U.S. healthcare system.

A handwritten letter found on Mangione at the time of his arrest labeled insurance companies “parasitic” and decried corporate greed, sentiments echoed by bullet casings at the crime scene inscribed with “DENY,” “DEPOSE,” and “DELAY”—terms often linked to insurance claim denials.

Mangione is facing federal and state charges, including murder as an act of terrorism, and could face the death penalty if convicted on the most serious charges.

Mark Carney is denying accusations of plagiarism.

As we’ve reported previously here in TGP, the new Liberal party leader and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called for snap elections for April 28th, trying to fully capitalize on the Liberal’s latest surge in the polls after endless months badly trailing the Conservative opposition.

But as the campaign begins, a reputational bomb has gone off on banker Carney’s lap, as an investigation by the National Post identified at least 10 instances of apparent plagiarism in his 1995 Oxford University doctorate thesis.

Carney was found to use ‘full quotes, paraphrases, or slightly modified quotes from four previous works without proper acknowledgement or attribution’.

Liberals are in a meltdown, calling Geoffrey Sigalet – the scholar who examined the evidence – a ‘Conservative donor’, because he contributed $288 back in 2022.

The Telegraph reported:

“On Friday, the Canadian prime minister and former governor of the Bank of England was forced to deny allegations he copied 10 passages of text for his 1995 doctorate.

The allegations are a blow to his election campaign. He faces a knife-edge vote on April 28 after calling a snap election against the backdrop of an aggressive trade war with Donald Trump.”

The sentences from the economist Michael E. Porter Jeremy C. Stein are alleged to be presented by Carney as his own in his thesis.

Crooked Joe Biden is out of office, but his destructive policies are still wreaking havoc on the United States. Under the previous administration the DHS had a program called “Operation Allies Welcome” which helped settle Afghan refugees into the US.

37-year-old Masiulla Sahil is accused in the stabbing murder of Abdul Niazi, 34 years old. Both the victim and suspect were from Afghanistan.

Niazi was in a wheelchair and had lost both of his legs working for the United States Military while in Afghanistan. Niazi had a business where he helped Afghan refugees with issues including job applications, and paperwork to assist with immigration.

Sahil sought assistance from Niazi for his status as a refugee, but became increasingly frustrated at how long the approval for his refugee status was taking. After a brief argument, Sahil went to his vehicle, got a knife and came back to the office. After threatening Niazi, he stabbed him approximately 20 times.

Niazi had died on scene at his office. Sahil was eventually apprehended and was arrested. According to investigators, video shows the suspect entering and leaving the building. There appeared to be blood on his clothes while he was leaving the place of business.

Investigators also said that in court it was said that Sahil called a family member of Niazi’s to apologize after the attack.

Niazi is survived by his wife and five children. All his children are under 10 years old.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Police believe a man’s fight and frustration to obtain refugee status led him to murder the man trying to help him in southwest Houston.

Like the suspect, the victim was also from Afghanistan. He lost both of his legs working for the U.S. military.

In probable cause court overnight, prosecutors said the victim, 34-year-old Abdul Niazi, was stabbed more than 20 times.
