If this is not the height of irony, I don’t know what is. The Chinese embassy on X is complaining about President Trump’s tariffs.

The Gateway Pundit reported,

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has escalated its trade war with the United States by imposing a staggering 125% tariff on all American imports.

This move comes in direct response to President Donald Trump’s decisive action to raise tariffs on Chinese goods to an effective rate of 145%, aiming to counter Beijing’s longstanding trade abuses and intellectual property theft.

On Wednesday, Beijing foolishly retaliated against U.S. tariffs by imposing an 84% tariff on all American imports, a desperate move following President Trump’s earlier hike to 104% on Chinese goods.

But China severely miscalculated. Within hours, Trump raised tariffs to 125%, sending a clear message: America will not be bullied.

According to Yahoo, “the White House confirmed the total base tariff on China is actually 145%, an amount higher than the 125% previously reported… The confusion about the exact number stemmed from separate 20% duties on China over issues of fentanyl and illegal migration that Trump had imposed in February and March.”

On Friday, the CCP escalated its trade war with the United States by imposing a staggering 125% tariff on all American imports.

The CCP’s retaliatory tariffs, set to take effect on April 12, 2025, are a clear attempt to undermine the U.S. economy and pressure the Trump administration into backing down.

All that the Chinese have to do is come to the table like the rest of the world and stop exploiting the American worker.

Judge Rules Trump Administration Has Met Its Burden-Anti-Israel Columbia Protester Mahmoud Khalil Can Be Deported

Mahmoud Khalil arrested at Columbia.

After leading violent and threatening protests at Columbia University, anti-Israel activist Mahmoud Khalil was arrested by Ice agents and taken into custody on March 8, and his green card was revoked.

The following day, March 10, U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman, an Obama appointee, slammed the brakes on the Trump administration’s efforts to deport Khalil.

On Friday, a judge in Lousiana federal court ruled that the Trump administration has met its burden to deport him.

Khalil has until April 23rd to file relief applications.

The New York Post reports:

The ruling in Louisiana federal court came in the government’s bid to boot the Syrian-born permanent resident out of the US over his anti-Israel activism at Columbia.

But Khalil won’t be deported immediately — his lawyers will get the chance to fight the proceedings before a final determination is made.

*****

On Wednesday, the government filed a two-page memo from Secretary of State Marco Rubio arguing Khalil should be kicked out because of his participation “in antisemitic protests and disruptive activities, which fosters a hostile environment for Jewish students in the United States.”

Rubio’s memo said Khalil’s presence in the country undermines “U.S. policy to combat antisemitism around the world and in the United States, in addition to efforts to protect Jewish students from harassment and violence in the United States.”

The Gateway Pundit reported that it appears that there is much more to Khalil than first realized.

Khalil worked at the British Embassy in Beirut, where he supported diplomats with his language skills and local knowledge.

Khalil had a security clearance from the British government and the program he worked on is affiliated with a “flagship UK soft power policy.”

Khalil then immigrated to New York City in 2022 on a student visa to attend the Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).

SIPA is known is well-known for preparing students for careers in fields related to international affairs, public policy, and security, which often include intelligence-related positions. The CIA is linked to SIPA and finds future agents at this school.

Khalil worked for the UK government “flagship soft power policy,” reports the Middle East Eye. He was “programme manager at the Syria Office in the British embassy in Beirut from 2018 t0 2022 [and] a local manager for the Syria Chevening Program, a prestigious UK government… https://t.co/NvY39BG8eQ pic.twitter.com/9ORtmal8l4

At the time of his arrest, DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin wrote in a statement to Columbia Spectator,

“On March 9, 2025, in support of President Trump’s executive orders prohibiting anti-Semitism, and in coordination with the Department of State, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia University graduate student.”

“Khalil led activities aligned to Hamas, a designated terrorist organization… ICE and the Department of State are committed to enforcing President Trump’s executive orders and to protecting U.S. national security,” she added.

British Author Tries to Shame Joe Rogan Into Deplatforming Anti-War Voices

British neoconservative author Douglas Murray publicly scolded the world’s most popular podcaster for allowing anti-war voices and dissident thinkers to appear on his show. Instead of rebutting arguments, Murray attacked Rogan himself—accusing him of platforming the “wrong” people and endangering the credibility of his podcast by refusing to limit guests to establishment-approved “experts.”

Rogan supporters say Murray’s attempt to police acceptable discourse says more about the panic of the permanent-war establishment than it does about Rogan’s show.

Footage of Douglas calling Rogan out

— Eitan Fischberger (@EFischberger) April 10, 2025

Murray specifically complained that Rogan has not had enough pro-Israeli voices on his show to defend the ongoing war in Gaza. Murray has called Rogan’s guest selection “dangerous” for allowing views he does not think ought to be broadcast.

The mainstream media is chiming in, trying to further shame Rogan into only having elite-approved guests.

Online, some have categorized this in different ways as either a pro-Israel/anti-Israel issue, or pro-war/anti-war, while others claim this represents, more broadly, questions about platforming mainstream ‘experts’ vs. non-mainstream voices.

The comments came during a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience featuring comedian and libertarian commentator Dave Smith and British neoconservative author and columnist Murray. Instead of engaging the discussion with substance, Murray went on offense—not against the arguments made by dissident thinkers—but against Rogan for giving them a platform at all.

“If you platform people who don’t know what they’re talking about and nod along, it’s weird,” Murray told Rogan, pressing him to draw a “line” against inviting such guests.

Though he framed it as a concern for accuracy, Murray’s substantial issue was who gets to speak. He singled out two past Rogan guests in the last month, saying ‘These guys are not historians, they’re not knowledgeable about anything’, referencing:

Ian Carroll, a YouTuber who has questioned official 9/11 narratives and offered unorthodox views on Israel’s geopolitical actions, including claiming that Israel was involved in 9/11, and was behind the Jeffrey Epstein espionage ring. Carroll also discussed the “Pizzagate” theory where American elites are alleged to be engaged in Satanic rituals in order to gain and preserve their power.

Darryl Cooper, a provocative commentator who called Winston Churchill “the chief villain of World War II” and who highlighted the darker sides of Allied decision-making during the war. Cooper also challenged the death totals during World War II, suggesting food shortages and the impact of war was more to blame for deaths than deliberate genocidal policies.

Murray was clearly disturbed that these voices—uncredentialed by the establishment—were being heard by millions. He implied Rogan’s openness to such guests contributes to misinformation, even though Rogan repeatedly clarified that his show is about open dialogue, not gatekeeping.

Murray said dissident views on Churchill were “horsesh**.”

“But then why listen to their views on Churchill? If you only get the contrary view, which is – ‘isn’t it fun if we all pretend that Churchill was the bad guy of the 20th century?’ – at some point you’re going to lead people to think that’s the view. And that’s horsesh** of the most profound kind.”

Rogan said he is more interested in interesting voices and perspectives than in necessarily bringing in guests who were part of the official establishment with accompanying degrees and certifications as to their expertise.

“I have people on that I think are interesting,” Rogan said. “You want me to talk to experts—I do. But I also talk to interesting people who say interesting shit.”

Murray doubled down in a column published Friday in The Spectator, where he lamented that he may need to take a “break” from Rogan’s podcast altogether. He described himself as “more exhausted than amused” by what he called a proliferation of “weird conspiracy theories” among Rogan’s guests. But his examples weren’t theories—they were inconvenient historical interpretations and uncomfortable questions.

The British Spectator is already claiming that Murray “broke” Rogan, suggesting that the interview hurt Rogan’s powerful brand.

Rogan’s brand has over 14 million followers on Spotify, making it the world’s most popular podcast, and his YouTube subscribers are over 19.6 million, with 6 billion total views as of April 2025.

Murray has written he believes Oswald acted alone in assassinating John F. Kennedy in 1963, for example. He complained that “some conspiracy theories have come true” and lamented that this means ‘other sets of facts’ might fall apart next.

What Murray seems to oppose isn’t conspiracy—but independence from mainstream narratives. Rogan’s podcast is the most popular show in the world, pundits assert, because it doesn’t bow to legacy media narratives or credentialed experts who have repeatedly gotten major events—like Iraq, Afghanistan, 2020 Voter Fraud, COVID, and Ukraine—dead wrong.

Darryl Cooper responded forcefully online, saying:

“The truth about WWII is complicated. It’s not a Hollywood movie. People like Murray want history to be simplistic and virtuous when it suits them. That’s not how real history works.”

Murray’s public scolding of Rogan reflects a deeper anxiety among transatlantic elites. For decades, war narratives—from Vietnam to Syria to Ukraine—have been shaped by a small, credentialed class of academics, think tanks, and media pundits who never face consequences for being wrong despite repeatedly launching the world into wars. Independent media and dissident voices now threaten their monopoly on public perception.

Murray’s views on history are also notably willfully ignorant of the war propaganda used to justify many of America’s wars over the past century.

Murray is part of the elite caste of social liberals who hate taxes and regulations, who publish books about the need for more warfare, without including the facts about America’s past wars that would run against the conventional narratives.

The 1898 Spanish-American War was predicated on the supposed attack on the U.S.S. Maine in Havana harbor, a view most historians now challenge, instead saying that the explosion was likely from an accident.

The First World War was partially motivated by the sinking of the H.M.S. Lusitania which was alleged to have been only transporting civilians, even though historians now admit it was also probably carrying munitions and war materials in violation of international law at the time, and making it a legitimate war target. The war propaganda also claimed that Germans were raping Belgian nuns and impaling babies on bayonets, all claims that were proven within a decade after the war to have been false.

The Second World War was motivated by the attack on Pearl Harbor, and while many historians still challenge whether Franklin Roosevelt had advance knowledge of the attack, the record indicates Roosevelt deliberately sought war with Japan by supplying Japan with oil and steel, and then abruptly cutting it off in the summer of 1941, an act that Roosevelt himself in the media said would cause Japan to go to war. Roosevelt refused peace initiatives from the Konoe government, knowing that it would collapse and be handed over to the Japanese militarists, as it did in October 1941. Internal memos indicated that U.S.  spies abroad knew that a sneak attack would happen at Pearl Harbor, on a Sunday morning, and also refused to stop the impending war from starting when they told the Australians they wanted the fighting to start.

The continuation of the Second World War, and refusing to give peace terms to Japan, was predicated on the war propaganda of the “Bataan Death March” which initial reports said had 5,000-7,500 casualties. Modern estimates have revised those numbers down to 500-650.

The Korean War started after North Korea was given the green light to invade by the Soviet Union, and the Soviets had been told by U.S. Secretary of State Dean Acheson in a speech on January 12, 1950 that the United States was unconcerned about the future of Korea, because it was conspicuously not mentioned as part of its “defensive perimeter” in the Pacific. The North Koreans invaded six months later, on June 25th.

The Vietnam War was predicated on two attacks upon the U.S.S. Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1964, and while there was certainly a first attack, the second attack was possibly due to misinterpretations of radar signatures during bad weather. The second attack was used as justification for a wide-ranging authority for the then-President Lyndon Johnson to begin a full-scale war in Vietnam.

The U.S.S. Liberty incident in June 1967 was likely a ‘false flag’ event meant to draw American into the ongoing war between Israel and its Arab neighbors known as the “Six Days War.” In that incident 34 died and 161 sailors were wounded, a signals intelligence ship was sunk by Israeli warplanes, who then attempted to strafe survivors in their liferafts, and whose survivors have said the U.S. flag was repeatedly shot down and seen by the pilots. Israel later apologized and said it was an accidental friendly-fire incident.

The Iraq War in 2003 was, in significant part, motivated by George Bush’s statements that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and was close to developing more. These claims were later proven to be based on such obviously flawed intelligence that many whistleblowers, including former CIA agent John Kiriakou, have claimed the intelligence community suppressed all evidence indicating that such claims were false.

In August 2013 the Barack Obama administration claimed that the Syrian government had used chemical weapons on its own civilian population, claims that were highly disputed. Obama could not successfully persuade the Republican-led Congress that the intelligence was accurate. These same claims made about the then-Assad regime, that it used gas on its civilians, was denied by the U.S. military.

In March 2022, Russia claimed that the United States was developing biolabs in Ukraine, and working with Neo-Nazi militarists to harass the Russian population living in Ukraine. These claims were used to justify their invasion of Ukraine, and were denied by all of the western media outlets. Yet Victoria Nuland confirmed the existence of United States biolabs in Ukraine when she lamented to Congress that she was concerned Russia would seize control of the labs. The nazi-linked Azov batallion was similarly well-documented in dissident media, to the point where even CNN had to admit it was true while still trying to downplay its significance, disproving the mainstream narrative that there were no neo-Nazis involved.

UH OH: Federal Elections Commission Launches Investigation into Far-Left Rep. Jasmine Crockett

Credit: NBC DFW Youtube Screenshot

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) appears to be in some legal trouble that could actually stick this time.

The Daily Signal reported on Thursday that the Federal Elections Commission has launched an investigation into Crockett regarding highly suspicious donations made to her 2024 re-election campaign.

According to the outlet, a conservative advocacy group called The Coolidge-Reagan Foundation made the FEC complaint on March 26. FEC assistant general counsel for complaints examination and legal administration then notified Crockett via letter on April 2nd.

“The respondents will be notified of this complaint within five business days,” Brown said in the letter.

“You will be notified as soon as the Federal Election Commission (FEC) takes final action on your client’s complaint,” she added. “Should you receive any additional information in this matter, please forward it to the Office of the General Counsel.”

The complaints reference a 73-year-old Texas resident named Randy Best, who supposedly made 53 separate donations totaling $595 to Crockett’s campaign through ActBlue. However, Sholden Daniels, one of Crockett’s GOP opponents for 2026, promoted a video showing that Best’s wife denied knowing any knowledge about the donations.

This suggests the donations were made without the couple’s knowledge.

— Sholdon Daniels For Congress (@SholdonDaniels) March 12, 2025

More from the Daily Signal:

The bigger picture is that Crockett’s campaign received about $870,000 in total donations through ActBlue. The Coolidge-Reagan Foundation’s FEC complaint says. That includes the $595 recorded from Best, who lives in Plano, Texas.

Rep. Crockett, through her principal campaign committee Respondent Jasmine for US, has received thousands of other donations through ActBlue totaling over $870,000,” the FEC complaint says. “It is unclear how many of these are similarly fraudulent transactions, made in the name of unsuspecting innocent people who did not actually provide the funds.”

ActBlue fundraising has faced questions by congressional Republicans and GOP state attorneys general. In a story cited in the FEC complaint, The Daily Signal previously reported several elderly Americans said they were not aware of ActBlue donations in their name.

The next step is for the respondent—Crockett—to have 15 days to respond to the allegations. The FEC historically grants extensions of 30 and 60 days, Backer said.

The Gateway Pundit has extensively reported on ActBlue’s suspicious fundraising activities for months. In one example, The O’Keefe Media Group in August released video of Texas donors shocked by unauthorized donations to the Democrat fundraising giant, raising further questions about the organization’s operations.

The donors had no clue that hundreds of donations totaling thousands of dollars were made in their names and made clear that it was impossible these donations were made willingly.

“I’m not rich. I don’t give that kind of money,” said Janice Bosco of Horseshoe Bay, TX, after discovering that ActBlue recorded 648 donations totaling around $16,000 in her name.

In an explosive interview with Benny Johnson back in March, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) revealed that he has teamed up with the FBI to invesitgate ActBlue for being part of what could be the biggest money-laundering scandal in American political history.

As TGP reported, Comer laid out a damning case against the far-left fundraising juggernaut, accusing it of funneling billions in suspicious cash—potentially from foreign adversaries—into Democrat coffers under the guise of “grassroots” donations.

“We’re investigating ActBlue the same way we investigated the Bidens,” Comer said. “We’re starting with the suspicious activity reports—bank violations that flag financial crimes. And let me tell you, the evidence is overwhelming.”

NEW: Butler, Pennsylvania Man Charged with Threatening to Assassinate President Trump, Elon Musk, and Other Federal Officials – Same City Trump Was Nearly Killed In

A man from the same city where President Trump came within an inch of losing his life has been charged by federal authorities.

The Department of Justice issued a press release earlier this afternoon revealing they had arrested 32-year-old Shawn Monper of Butler, Pennsylvania. He has been charged by federal criminal complaint for making threats to assault and murder Trump, Elon Musk, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, and other federal officials.

“I want to applaud the outstanding and courageous investigative work of the FBI and the Butler Township Police Department, who thankfully identified and apprehended this individual before he could carry out his threats against President Trump’s life and the lives of other innocent Americans,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement. “Rest assured that whenever and wherever threats of assassination or mass violence occur, this Department of Justice will find, arrest, and prosecute the suspect to the fullest extent of the law and seek the maximum appropriate punishment.”

The DOJ noted that the FBI National Threat Operations Section (NTOS) received an emergency disclosure on April 8 regarding threats posted to YouTube by user “Mr Satan,” who they later verified was Monper. The activity occurred at his residence, and the threatening statements were issued between Jan 15 and April 5.

In addition, the investigation revealed that Monper obtained a firearms permit just after Trump’s inauguration. In February 2025, Monper commented using his “Mr Satan” account. Per the DOJ, here are the four sick statements Monper made targeting Trump, ICE agents, and other elected officials:

February 17, 2025: “Nah, we just need to start killing people, Trump, Elon, all the heads of agencies Trump appointed, and anyone who stands in the way. Remember, we are the majority, MAGA is a minority of the country, and by the time its time to make the move, they will be weakened, many will be crushed by these policies, and they will want revenge too. American Revolution 2.0”

March 4, 2025: “im going to assassinate him myself.” This threat was made in a YouTube video titled “Live: Trump’s address to Congress.”

March 18, 2025: “ICE are terrorist people, we need to start killing them.”

April 1, 2025: “If I see an armed ice agent, I will consider it a domestic terrorist, and an active shooter and open fire on them.”

As TGP readers know, President Trump was nearly assassinated last July during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, by a 20-year-old Democrat donor named Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Trump immediately grabbed his neck after being shot while bleeding profusely from his ear. Video recordings of the scene also show Trump ducking down immediately after the initial gunshots were heard.

White House Posts Video of Karoline Leavitt Praying Before Press Briefing

The White House posted video to social media of Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt offering a prayer before heading into the Brady Briefing room for Friday’s press briefing. Among the blessings the ever-ebullient 27-year-old Leavitt asked for was the ability to have fun during the briefing (which she did.)

In video posted by Special Assistant to President Trump Margo Martin, Leavitt is seen holding briefing papers in each hand as she prays aloud with several staff members gathered just on the other side of the door to the press room.

Leavitt, “Lord Jesus, please give us the strength, the knowledge the ability to articulate our words, and have fun and be confident in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

An example of Leavitt having fun at the briefing came in a Q & A about a bird dive bombing Fox News White House reporter Peter Doocy during a live shot Friday morning on Fox and Friends:

Leavitt served in the the first Trump administration’s press office and was press secretary for the Trump 2024 presidential campaign beginning in January 2024. Leavitt was on maternity leave for the birth of her first child when Trump was shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024. After watching the attack at home on TV, Leavitt canceled her leave and returned to the campaign trail.

Leavitt is the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary, but she has quickly established a reputation as a knowledgeable, unflappable, charming but firm spokesperson even as she battles with reporters and has dramatically restructured the dynamics of the White House’s relationship with the media.

Whitmer’s White House Visit Sparks Party Meltdown: Betrayal or Bold Move?

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is under fire after appearing alongside President Donald Trump during a White House signing ceremony—an unexpected move that has shaken the Democratic Party and raised questions about party loyalty versus political pragmatism. What was framed as bipartisan cooperation by some is now being blasted as a “disaster” by liberal operatives.

Whitmer’s Trump Meeting Ignites Intra-Party Firestorm

Governor Whitmer’s surprise attendance at the Oval Office event caught Democratic leaders and operatives off guard, triggering a wave of anger from party strategists and media allies.

CNN’s Edward-Isaac Dovere labeled the meeting a “huge embarrassment,” while left-wing commentator Audie Cornish stated, “This does not look like the politics of resistance.” One Democratic operative quoted in Politico reportedly said the situation was “just a f—ing disaster,” adding that Whitmer has damaged her image among the base.

Whitmer’s history as a prominent critic of Trump during the pandemic and her rumored interest in national office made the appearance even more jarring to Democrats who viewed her as a future party leader.

Appearing with Trump: Political Suicide or Strategic Play?

Critics claim Whitmer’s presence at the signing ceremony legitimized Trump’s leadership, and some say she was used as a political “prop” to promote an image of unity and bipartisanship—one that may play well to voters but not within her party.

Worse for her critics, Whitmer publicly agreed with Trump on tariffs and fair trade policies, aligning herself with a platform her party has long opposed. Those positions have angered progressive activists and donors who view cooperation with Trump as a betrayal of core Democratic principles.

Gretchen Whitmer in the Oval Office playing nice…… wasn’t on my bingo card today.

pic.twitter.com/RGodvspesa

— Juanita Broaddrick (@atensnut) April 9, 2025

But defenders argue Whitmer is doing what smart governors do—put their state first. With Michigan being a critical swing state, her decision to work with Trump on economic issues could resonate with the blue-collar and independent voters her party desperately needs to win back.

Democratic Dilemma: Resist or Cooperate?

Whitmer’s visit underscores a growing divide in the Democratic Party: Should leaders continue the “resistance” posture that defined the Trump years, or is it time to engage on shared policy interests?

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer throws her support behind President Trump’s tariffs:

“I understand the motivation behind the tariffs…We do need to make more stuff in America…We do need fair trade!”
pic.twitter.com/msWjFLF3nI

— Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) April 10, 2025

The tension comes at a crucial time. As the 2024 campaign heats up, Democrats are struggling to present a clear, unified message while Trump continues to gain momentum by framing himself as a deal-maker and results-driven leader—especially when Democrats appear disorganized or hypocritical.

Whitmer’s gamble may cost her support among party elites, but it also exposes a crack in the Democratic strategy. In the eyes of many voters, working with Trump—especially when it brings jobs or economic benefits—might not be betrayal. It might just be common sense.

Whether her move was political genius or career suicide remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Whitmer just rewrote the playbook—and the fallout is far from over.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt lectured a reporter who couldn’t seem to grasp Trump’s tariff strategy.

“Why would any of our allies work with us to isolate China in a trade war if we’re treating friend and foe alike?” a reporter asked Karoline Leavitt.

“You’ll have to talk to our allies who are reaching out to us. The phones are ringing off the hooks. They’ve made it very clear they need the United States of America. They need our markets. They need our consumer base,” Leavitt said.

On Tuesday, in response to Trump’s original 104% tariff on China, the Chinese government announced it would retaliate by increasing tariffs on American products from 34% to 84%.

President Trump upped the ante and announced higher tariffs on China on Wednesday.

Trump announced he is immediately raising tariffs on China to 125%. At the same time he put a 90-day pause on tariffs and lowered reciprocal tariffs on more than 75 countries.

It’s virtually the world against China now as President Trump uses the tariff war to crush China.

“Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately. At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable. Conversely, and based on the fact that more than 75 Countries have called Representatives of the United States, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the USTR, to negotiate a solution to the subjects being discussed relative to Trade, Trade Barriers, Tariffs, Currency Manipulation, and Non Monetary Tariffs, and that these Countries have not, at my strong suggestion, retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States, I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said on Truth Social.

The Dow Jones immediately jumped more than 2,800 points and the Nasdaq surged more than 10% on Wednesday afternoon.

“The S&P 500 skyrocketed 9.1%, on pace for its biggest one-day gain in five years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 2,861 points, or 7.4%, also its biggest advance since 2020. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 11.7%, its largest one-day jump in decades,” CNBC reported.

“Up 2,500 points. Nobody has ever heard of it! Gotta be a record,” Trump said on Wednesday in DC.

Trump Envoy Meets with Putin in St. Petersburg

President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg Friday to discuss resolving the Ukraine war. Earlier the same day, Trump had expressed frustration that the conflict is still raging.

“Russia has to get moving,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Too many people [a]re DYING, thousands a week, in a terrible and senseless war.” The president has said he would impose secondary sanctions on nations that purchase Russian oil if he felt Moscow was obstructing peace negotiations.

This was the third meeting this year between Putin and Witkoff, who has emerged as a lead negotiator not only on Russia–Ukraine, but also the Israel–Hamas conflict and Iran’s nuclear program. Witkoff is expected to travel to Oman for talks with Iranian envoys Saturday.

The Friday meeting in St. Petersburg comes at a time of elevated geopolitical tension and uncertainty, with the U.S. and China locked in a tit-for-tat trade war and Trump threatening to attack Iran if an accord blocking it from making nuclear weapons isn’t struck soon. Tehran, an ally of both Moscow and Beijing, has signaled openness to discussing the military aspects of its nuclear program.
