The Scramble for Oceania

The Scramble for Oceania

Start building artificial ocean platforms for fun and profit—and geopolitics.

News item: On April 17, an X feed called SkyFi took note of a “massive steel structure” that the People’s Republic of China had placed in the Yellow Sea, “sparking a standoff with South Korea’s coast guard.” So China has just built itself something that’s a military installation, or an artificial island—or both. By any name, it’s a topographical fact.

Newsweek adds, “China is building more island fortresses in the China Sea.” Moreover, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) counts 27 PRC posts just on the Spratly and Paracel Islands, mostly created by pouring concrete atop coral reefs, establishing a port or airstrip, creating 3200 acres of new Chinese “land.” These spots are claimed by five other countries, but the PRC now holds them all.

We can see: China is engaged in slow-motion territorial expansion, filling in nearby seas. Does this portend the communist regime’s aggression against its neighbors? Perhaps.

Perhaps, therefore, this is a time for the U.S. to stand up for the “rules based order.” Perhaps we should reinvigorate our commitment to “protect sea lanes.” You know, make the “pivot to Asia.” Plenty of warriors, armchair and otherwise—from CSIS, to the Council on Foreign Relations, to the Pentagon’s Pacom, to startups in Prague—are already gaming out the scenarios.

But here’s another way of thinking about what the Chinese are doing: Maybe territorial expansion into the oceans is a smart idea per se. We don’t want international war, but national dynamism is okay. The Dutch, after all, have been peacefully reclaiming land from the sea for eight centuries, the U.S. has done plenty in the past, and other countries are at it, still, with spectacular success.

Leaving geopolitics aside for a moment, such expansion is surely good economics. It’s good, that is, to own more territory, and thus more resources.

So if the Chinese have their outward expansion into the sea; maybe we should have ours. Happily, irenically, our nearby oceans are mostly empty: We can expand into the Pacific, or the Atlantic—and to a lesser extent, the Gulf of America—without colliding into the claims of another country.

In the meantime, we can judge Chinese territorial revisionism however we wish. If American leaders are so inclined, they can dispatch sailors and soldiers to confront the Chicoms—and we’ll see how that turns out.

Yet even as we’re evaluating the power of our swords, we might also be thinking on the potential of our plowshares. Maybe, just maybe, we should pivot to America, seeing the outward revision of our seacoasts as an opportunity to enrich our homeland—a chance for us to gain more territory, more prosperity, and yes, more security. We’re safer, as well as richer, when we’re surrounded by…ourselves. So let’s get engineers and entrepreneurs on that mission. Make land, not war. The oceans, after all, account for some 140 million square miles, a full 71 percent of the Earth’s surface. So there’s plenty of room to expand—the oceans won’t notice.

Yes, it’s great that the Trump administration is opening up federal lands for development: These reforms will mean more housing and more domestic energy and other resource production. Yet at the same time, we can see the ceiling—the physical constraints of this nation, about 3.5 million square miles.

These constraints can be eased if we make full use of U.S. territories, beyond the 50 states. Here, too, Trump has been good: April 17, he reversed an Obama-administration decree that had locked up 500,000 square miles of the Pacific around American Samoa. The locked-down fishing grounds were a monument, proclaimed the Obamans. (A monument to what, we might ask, other than the vicarious green imperialism of the donor-class dots.) Today, the Samoans are happy, even as angry enviro groups plot their next lawsuit.

For those of us who believe in American Greatness, who think Manifest Destiny should never end, this is heartening. And yet we can do more. We can expand into empty places in the ocean, putting down anchors and drills—and perhaps concrete blocks made of captured carbon—and there’ll still be plenty of room for the seaweed and brine shrimp. (In fact, putting manmade objects permanently in the ocean often increases biological activity, by creating “reefs” in places that were once merely “deserts.”)

But what of other kinds of American expansion? What about, for instance, Greenland? This author is an on-the-record big fan of buying Greenland, but if it’s not for sale or swap, then its conquest isn’t worth the bones of a single American grenadier. As Operation Iraqi Freedom reminded us yet again, bloody imperialism just isn’t worth it.

Still, even if the Danes and Greenlanders prove impervious to our importuning, they might yet be jolted into developmental action: In the face of pressure from us, or the Russians or Chinese, they are coming to regard their territory as more than a miserly glacier preserve. And if Greenland opens up, that will create more opportunity for all, including Americans. (The same is true, by the way, for Ukraine—that embattled country is now realizing that dig, baby, dig is more important than staying green.)

Yet after all that world-surveying, we can come back to the simple pleasures of home: It’s easiest to expand on adjacency.

With that in mind, we might first think about military strategy: The U.S. possesses 11 aircraft carriers, each sailing the seas, holding a crew of 5,000, and costing $13 billion. CVs have been good at projecting force, but it’s unclear how good they will be at defending themselves against hypersonic missiles or drone swarms. Perhaps the Navy will figure this out—or perhaps carriers will go the way of cavalry.

In any case, effective defense is essential. Here again, the Chinese have the right idea: By building in the ocean, they are establishing a perimeter of sea-based sites, forward defenses their homeland, a permanent picket.

In that same spirit, we could think of islands—including manmade islands—as a defensive belt for Uncle Sam. Obviously we already have plenty of bases and airstrips on solid ground all across the Pacific, as well as across the world. But maybe we need more, especially as we take into account new military exigencies, as we think less about the Bush Doctrine of preemptive attack and more about the Monroe Doctrine of hemispheric defense.

With that in mind, maybe we should move away from aircraft carriers and toward aircraft stationers. Solid grounds for not only aircraft (manned and unmanned), but also, for lasers and other kinds of directed-energy weapons. To be sure, these fixed places would still be vulnerable; however, if they were cheaper to build, we could have many more of them. Also, being simpler to operate than a carrier, they could rely mostly on—or maybe completely on—robot crews.

Yet even as we eye military necessities, we should also be eyeing political and economic opportunities.

Here again, we can learn from the Chinese and their demonstrated knack for big public works. Most notably, the Great Wall of China not only helped defend the country, it helped define the country. Walls are salutary in many ways; they can be their own kind of nation-building. So now that the Chinese are building a Great Sea Wall, who can say that’s a mistake?

All the while, a larger dominion reaps economic rewards. For starters, there’s marine aquaculture: submersible pens for fish and other edibles. In China, this is a big business, impressively high tech. We can deplore Chinese fishing trawlers that “strip mine” the high seas. But only Greenpeace can oppose self-contained factory fish farms that keep people fed. (Greenpeace isn’t a factor in China, and, at last, it’s been pinned back, too, in the U.S.)

Indeed, as we gaze upon the oceans’ economic vistas, we can espy the beginnings of a great game, the scramble for Oceania. Winning is defined as controlling territory, wet as well as dry. To illustrate the value of geographic aggrandizement, we can consider Russia. It’s said to be resource-rich, and it is. Yet it’s not because Providence has uniquely blessed it; it’s because it’s huge. If you have 6.6 million square miles of land, you’re going to find something on it or underneath it—indeed, lots of things.

The same point applies to the globe’s 140 million square miles of ocean. All the surfaces of Earth have value, because resources are distributed across the planet, as randomly as the elements in the periodic table were scattered across the universe by the Big Bang. We can see this randomness if we look at gold mines, or oil reserves, or lithium deposits—or any sort of natural resource. They are legion.

Yet our economic assessments of riches are still mostly limited to what can be found under dry land—even as the other 71 percent of the world, the oceans, mostly still awaits tapping. (Seawater itself, all 352 trillion gallons of it, also has enormous economic potential.) To tap the seas fully will require better tech, of course, but also, clearer titles.

Amidst this wealth-assaying, where does seasteading fit in? Those libertarians are right: The ocean is the next frontier. Yet as with earlier frontiers, while they might start out as anything-goes “wild wests,” they always end up being controlled by nation-states.

Today, anything floating on, or sitting in, the ocean is vulnerable to pirates or terrorists or militaries—unless it can claim the sovereign authority of a state as its guarantor and defender. Always and forever in this world of armed men, Thomas Hobbes’s bleak wisdom looms large. So the seasteaders will have to strike a political bargain with some leviathan—a beast boasting a coast guard and a navy.

Still, the news isn’t bad for the seawardly mobile. As more technology is deployed into Neptune’s realm, as more people see blue water as an enterprise zone, at least some governments will deem this activity as beneficial and worthy of protection. Current history shows that nation states don’t have to strangle creativity and even arbitrage—they can, if they choose to, make it safe to flourish.

If the oceans, including the lands and structures we might build, are a good place to work, play, and invest, techno-bro visionaries will do well—even if they have to pay some taxes. Shakespeare might never have heard of seasteading, but he did know about seafaring, and colonies across the ocean, when he wrote, “There is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune.”

Still, many Americans, having been stuck in the greens’ Malthusian mind trap for so long, might need help grasping the full plenitude of oceanic opportunity.

So maybe it’s fortunate that China is ahead of us on infilling and ocean-constructing. How so? Because just as the Russians got into orbit first in the 1950s—which in turn energized the U.S. to win the space race of the ’60s—so today China’s lead in the “ocean race” could spur American competitiveness and effectiveness.

China’s tradition of civilizational bigthink, combined with its unsentimental, un-green nationalism, has served it well so far in this salty arena. For too long, the United States has been bewitched, bothered, and becalmed by nattering NIMBYs and Naderite naysayers who oppose everything. Yet now, in this Trumpian moment of go-go exuberance, Americans can reassert their inalienable rights: to life, liberty—and the pursuit of a newly made island.

Romania Is Fighting for the Future of a Free Europe

Romania Is Fighting for the Future of a Free Europe

TAC interviews AUR’s George Simi

Credit: LCV/Shutterstock

Romania is experiencing its biggest institutional and political crisis since 1989. The annulment of the second round of the presidential elections by the Constitutional Court has divided the country. After the definitive suspension of the independent candidate Calin Georgescu, George Simion, leader of AUR, Romania’s second-largest party, is the leading conservative figure and favorite to become the new president of Romania.

Simion is president of the AUR party and has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies since 2020. At the international level, he is vice-president of the ECR party. He is one of the best known Romanian activists for freedom and the national cause, for which he has been fighting since his youth.

How is the situation in Romania, with the suspension of the elections and the ban on Georgescu running? …. From your point of view, is this just the beginning of what the Brussels establishment wants to do? We know that there will also be presidential elections in Poland; do you think it is the beginning of an experiment like the one you mentioned [happened here in Romania]?

Of course, it is the same modus operandi.

Presidential elections will be held again in Romania, five months after the annulment of an entire electoral process, in fact a coup d’état. They are doing everything in their power, even if it is illegal. They are using the judicial system, breaking all the rules of democracy, just to keep their people in charge.

Also in Poland, Tusk and the globalist machine are talking about future electoral “interference.” It is the same narrative. I don’t know if they have proof, but the “threat” sounds the same.

Let’s look at what happened in France, where Marine Le Pen, the candidate most likely to become president of the Republic, was convicted and banned from running.

It is a witch-hunt against sovereigntists and conservatives and an attempt to eliminate, by all means, anyone who opposes the deep state and the progressive agenda.

You’re running for president of Romania. All the polls indicate that you will make it to the second round. We have even seen some polls suggesting that you will defeat Nicușor Dan. Polls sometimes say one thing, and then the results are different. What are your expectations?

Nobody has the ability to predict the future—only God knows. I put my faith, and the faith of the movement I represent, Romania First, created by Mr. Georgescu, in God’s hands.

The only thing I want is to make the voice of the Romanian people heard. I want free and fair elections, without censorship.

They are already preparing a massive wave of censorship under the DSA (Digital Services Act), the European directive. They are getting ready to censor TikTok and Facebook just because they are platforms where the Romanian people can express themselves.

They haven’t been able to prove any Russian collusion or interference, but they will try, and they will do whatever it takes to stop our growth.

So, you’re just asking for fair elections and the rule of law. Where are the figures like [Belgium’s Guy] Verhofstadt and [the Netherlands’ Frans] Timmermans, are they already listening? Where is the rule of law?

A few months ago, you predicted that there would be a visa problem in the U.S. Do you see any relationship between the visa situation and the suspension of the elections?

Of course, there is a connection. This is not just a technicality.

I cannot believe that the Romanian government thinks we are so naive as to accept that this is merely a procedural issue. Unfortunately, this is only one of the first steps.

If we do not return to democracy and respect the will of the people, it is possible that the United States will withdraw its troops from Romania, which would be a huge danger for us.

I support NATO, and I believe in a NATO led by American troops. I am fully committed to honoring all of Romania’s international obligations.

There are several conservative models in Europe and around the world. Nobody is perfect, but what would be the ideal model to look at?

I look with great admiration at Italy and its center-right government.

Under the leadership of Giorgia Meloni, Italy has remained a reliable, respected and strong partner within the European Union.

When she became prime minister two and a half years ago, leftists did not give her much of a chance. However, Italy has shown that it can defend the national interest while remaining fully within the European framework.

I would like to bring the same balance to Romania: clarity and determination about our priorities, constructive dialogue, respect and commitment to our alliances.

What are your proposals if you win the elections? What are your plans for Romania?

We are not facing a normal campaign with traditional government and presidential plans. We are facing an extraordinary crisis that needs to be solved.

We must restore democracy, freedom and peace, and let things take their natural course. We have to restore common sense to this part of the continent, just as in the United States.

My first and foremost goal is to get Romania back to democracy. And for that we need free elections.

I am a strong supporter of the EU and NATO, but as an equal partner, not as a second-class country. We are a sovereign country and we must remain so. Federalist Europe is a utopia, which I firmly reject.

The main slogan of my campaign is “Respect.” Respect for our values, for our community, for our elders, for our families. That respect that we have lost in the last decades and that I am committed to recover.

We have seen that nationalist and patriotic figures, such as those of ECR, support you in your fight for free elections and the restoration of democracy and the rule of law in Romania. Patriotic leaders such as Santiago Abascal, Matteo Salvini and members of ESN have expressed their support. How do you see this wave of support from conservatives across Europe?

I want to thank conservatives, patriots, and sovereigntists across Europe for their strong support.

For me, this is important because, as the saying goes, a friend in trouble is a friend indeed.

From Santiago Abascal to Matteo Salvini to Janez Janša, the list is very long. Through this interview, I want to send them a big thank you through The American Conservative.

Please remember that whenever you are in trouble, you can count on George Simion and the AUR movement to take a stand and stand by your side.

Finally, it is estimated that between 5 and 10 million Romanians live outside Romania, what message do you have for them?

I know that most of them have been living and working in their country for decades already.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t want some of them to return to their country for good. But all governments so far have acted against national interests. Excessive bureaucracy, the healthcare system, education… all [these] and many more are vital issues that we must address for Romanians to return home.

The May 4 elections are crucial also for our diaspora. Only a large turnout can bring our country back to the normal and democratic path.

Yes, Zelensky Should Take the Deal

Yes, Zelensky Should Take the Deal

The U.S.-proposed peace agreement is better for Ukraine than it seems.

President Donald Trump has sold out the Ukrainians, given the farm to Vladimir Putin, alienated U.S. allies—and may have revealed himself to be Moscow’s puppet.

At least, that’s how the mainstream media have portrayed the Russia-Ukraine peace deal that the White House presented last week, details of which have emerged in recent days.

“Did Putin write this?” asked a headline yesterday in POLITICO’s national security newsletter. A New York Times report gave the impression the White House was trying to elicit Kiev’s repudiation of the deal and “create a pretext for abandoning American support for Ukraine.” And if that wasn’t the intention, the Times told its readers, then the deal was meant to force Ukraine’s capitulation.

Russia’s vicious assault on Kiev early Thursday fed into the perception that Trump is forsaking the beleaguered Ukrainians. The attack was part of a country-wide missile and drone campaign through the night.

Yet a close analysis of the proposal, or what we know about it, suggests Trump is genuinely trying to cobble together a viable deal—and exposes as misleading the melodramatic insinuations of the mainstream media.

To be sure, Russia would get much from the agreement: de jure recognition of Crimea as Russian territory; de facto recognition of Russian control over the four Ukrainian oblasts Putin claimed in 2022 to annex; sanctions relief; and a U.S. pledge that Ukraine won’t join NATO.

These concessions would be difficult to stomach for Ukrainians and Westerners, including this columnist. In a just world, Putin would not be rewarded for launching an expansionist war of aggression.

But Ukraine would get more than many people realize, enough that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky should take the deal—and soon. The one-page document laying out the proposal is reported to describe the deal as Trump’s “final offer.”

While Kiev would not be permitted to join NATO, the deal expressly permits it to join the European Union, which has a collective defense agreement. Moreover, the deal seems to allow for European peacekeepers on Ukrainian territory after the war, and for Western nations to rearm Ukraine. At the very least, it doesn’t rule any of this out. These would be meaningful security guarantees that collectively would deter future Russian aggression.

The issue of security guarantees for Ukraine has been perhaps the biggest stumbling block to a settlement. Kiev understandably wants some assurance—before signing a peace deal—that Russia won’t invade again in the future. But its preferred option, NATO membership, is unacceptable to Moscow and undesirable for Washington and other Western capitals.

EU membership, European peacekeepers, and Ukrainian rearmament are the best options that Kiev could reasonably wish for. Zelensky should endorse Trump’s proposal but push for the finalized agreement to codify all three guarantees. He should also rally European leaders to commit themselves to Ukraine’s security, for example, by soliciting pledges to send peacekeepers, expedite Ukraine’s accession to the EU, and help fortify the contact line after the fighting stops.

Whether Putin would accept such an arrangement is unclear, and until this week would have seemed unlikely. But if the current proposal really does greenlight these guarantees, even if only tacitly, then that itself is evidence Moscow can get to yes.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff has met with Putin three times since January, with a fourth meeting scheduled this Friday, and White House officials say they have a good idea of what the Kremlin would agree to. The peace deal would presumably have excluded these guarantees if the administration assessed they were non-starters for Moscow.

Nevertheless, Putin may drag his feet and, in the Witkoff meeting Friday, try to negotiate a more favorable deal that would facilitate the “demilitarization” of Ukraine, a key Russian war aim. But that possibility points to another good reason for the Ukrainian president to accept the current agreement now.

If Zelensky agrees to sign the deal but Putin does not, then Trump may start to see Moscow, not Kiev, as the bigger impediment to peace. In that case, Trump would be more inclined to sustain military aid to Ukraine, rather than wash his hands of a conflict that Putin—and only Putin—was refusing to end.

By contrast, if both Zelensky and Putin reject the deal, or if only Zelensky does, then Trump really might abandon Ukraine to the dogs of war, as the New York Times and others have speculated. Trump seems to be losing patience with Zelensky, whom he clearly views as ungrateful and recalcitrant. Ukraine must avoid at all costs fighting a war against Russia without U.S. backing.

Fortunately, not only are the benefits for Ukraine of accepting Trump’s proposal more significant than Western media have reported, but the costs are lower than they seem. NATO membership was already most unlikely, but the peace deal would put pressure on the EU to admit Ukraine as compensation for not joining the Western alliance.

As for the deal’s land-for-peace features, only Washington—not Kiev—would formally recognize that Crimea belongs to Russia, and even Zelensky has acknowledged that Ukraine’s military is unable to recapture Crimea and the illegally annexed oblasts: Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia. The only question has been whether Ukraine could muster enough military might to retain those parts of the four oblasts that Russia hasn’t yet captured. Under the Trump deal, it may not have to.

This week, the Financial Times reported that Putin is willing to freeze the invasion along the current battle lines and relinquish Ukrainian-controlled territory in the four oblasts. That is a striking concession, which few analysts predicted, and may represent Ukraine’s last best hope for keeping lands that its soldiers have defended so valiantly. Many observers remain skeptical that Putin would follow through on the promise, but the peace deal’s security guarantees mean Ukraine wouldn’t need to trust Putin’s sincerity.

Given the deal’s real benefits for Ukraine, and the qualified nature of its most prominent drawbacks, Zelensky should accept Trump’s offer while it’s still on the table. If he doesn’t, the Ukrainian people may turn on him. A 2024 Gallup report showed that 52 percent of Ukrainians supported negotiations on “ending the war as soon as possible.” Of these, 52 percent said they were open to territorial concessions as part of a settlement. These numbers are likely even higher today, after months of grueling warfare and economic hardship.

The Russia–Ukraine war has been a disaster for global security, international law, and, above all, the Ukrainian people. Westerners rightly condemn Putin’s invasion and worry that Russia will benefit from it. Yet the strident denunciations of Trump and his peace proposal are misplaced. While the ultimate responsibility for the war lies with Putin, President Joe Biden, I believe, could have averted it with smarter diplomacy.

In November 2021, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba signed a strategic partnership charter reiterating U.S. support for Kiev to join NATO—an agreement that Robert Service, an eminent historian of Russia, called the “last straw” for Putin. As Russia amassed troops near the Ukrainian border, Biden refused to even discuss with Putin the issue of NATO expansion, which Moscow has always seen as a security threat. After the February 2022 invasion, the White House treated the war as a chance to weaken Russia, even as peace negotiations in Istanbul had opened an opportunity to end the conflict mere months after it began.

That opportunity faded, the war raged on, and three years later, Ukraine has been all but destroyed. Trump’s peace proposal isn’t perfect. But a continuation of Putin’s hellish war is intolerable.

Attorney in Minnesota Who Let Democrat State Worker Walk After Keying Teslas Now Charges a Young Woman for Similar Crime

Dylan Bryan Adams, left, caused $20,000 worth of damage to Tesla vehicles in Minneapolis, but Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, right, chose not to file criminal charges. (@libsoftiktok / X screen shots)

A member of the Tim Walz administration keyed several Tesla vehicles and caused upwards of $20,000. The Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty let him walk.

Now a young woman with no criminal record has been accused of keying her co-worker’s car and she apparently will be charged.

Is there a better example of selective justice? Why does the Tim Walz associate get a free pass, but the young woman with no political connections gets charged?

WOW: A 19-year-old Hennepin County woman is charged with a felony for $7K in damages after keying a coworker’s car.

But Soros-backed Mary Moriarty let this Democrat activist walk free after $20K in vandalism to Teslas in Hennepin County.

Two-tier justice, plain and simple. pic.twitter.com/5vI4giVR5F

The Mankato Free Press reported:

But one case is striking for the argument Moriarty has made around Adams being a first-time offender.

A 19-year-old Robbinsdale woman with no criminal record was charged with first-degree felony property damage on Monday after she allegedly keyed her coworker’s car at the White Castle in Brooklyn Park. The damage to the car was estimated at $7,000. She is due to make her first court appearance in two weeks.

When asked how she could balance that charging decision with the decision to not charge Adams, Moriarty didn’t directly respond. She said her office’s main goal is to hold the person accountable for keying the car, get restitution to the people affected, and avoid felony convictions when possible, because it can waylay someone’s life. She said all of that will happen in Adams’ case, and if he fails to complete the diversion program criminal charges will be filed.

‘Should we have treated this gentleman differently because it’s a political issue?’ Moriarty asked. ‘We made this decision because it is in the best interest of public safety.’

The message being sent here is loud and clear.

Two-tier justice in full swing, Democrat activists get a free pass while others face harsh penalties.

Legal Immigrant Tells Journalist Mark Halperin She’s ‘Disgusted’ With How Dems Are Bending Over Backwards for ‘Maryland Man’ Abrego Garcia (VIDEO)

A Hispanic woman living in Florida, who is a legal immigrant, recently called in to Mark Halperin’s ‘2Way’ program and said that she is disgusted with the way that Democrats are falling all over themselves to help ‘Maryland Man’ Kilmar Abrego García, an accused member of MS-13.

She makes it clear in the clip that she is confused about why the Democrats are doing this, which is an understandable position. What the Democrats are doing in this case does not seem to make any sense.

It’s really just another case where Democrats reflexively believe that they must take the opposite position of the Trump administration. They do this no matter how illogical or stupid it makes them look.

Partial transcript via the Western Lensman on Twitter/X:

This woman makes an excellent point. When was the last time you saw Democrats go out of their way to help an American citizen the way they’re going to bat for Abrego Garcia? The answer is never. And the funny thing is, they don’t even really care about this guy. They just see him as a political foil.

HORROR: Mexican Illegal Alien Released by Joe Biden Arrested For Raping Little Boy as He Was Playing Outside

Charlotte County Sheriff announces Illegal alien released by Joe Biden arrested for raping child in Florida

An illegal alien from Mexico released into the interior of the United States by Joe Biden was arrested for raping a 13-year-old boy.

The Charlotte County, Florida, Sheriff on Thursday announced 20-year-old Samuel Cobos-Carmona was arrested and charged with committing sexual battery on a child.

Sheriff Bill Prummell said Cobos-Carmona illegally entered the US for the first time in 2021 on Joe Biden’s open borders invitation. He was deported but made his way back over the US border in 2022. Cobos-Carmona fled from Texas authorities and ended up in Florida. He was caught by law enforcement in Sarasota in the summer of 2024 but released thanks to Joe Biden’s dangerous ‘catch and release’ policy.

Last week, authorities were called to a family’s home to report the sexual battery. The child victim’s mother told deputies that her son told her that Cobos-Carmona sexually assaulted him while he was playing outside with his younger brother, according to Gulf Coast News.

The child was playing hide-and-seek in the woods when Cobos-Carmona grabbed him and held him down. The illegal alien anally and orally raped the child as he tried to fight back and scream.

Cobos-Carmona initially lied to authorities and said he never sexually assaulted the boy, but he later admitted to the crimes.

The 20-year-old was charged with “lewd or lascivious battery by engaging in sexual activity with a person 12 years of age or older but less than 16 years of age,” ABC 6 reported.

President Trump Signs Memorandum Ordering Crack Down on Illegal “Straw Donor” and Foreign Contributions Through Fundraising Platforms Like ActBlue

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum this afternoon to crack down on illegal straw donors and foreign contributions through online fundraising platforms such as ActBlue.

This is follows investigations by both Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI) and multiple states’ Attorneys General.  Currently, 19 attorneys general have opened such investigations, including Texas, Arkansas, Florida and Missouri.

The memorandum states (bold added by The Gateway Pundit):

Federal law (52 U.S.C. 30121 and 30122) strictly prohibits making political contributions in the name of another person, as well as contributions by foreign nationals.

Notwithstanding these laws designed to protect American democracy, press reports and investigations by congressional committees have generated extremely troubling evidence that online fundraising platforms have been willing participants in schemes to launder excessive and prohibited contributions to political candidates and committees.

Specifically, these reports raise concerns that malign actors are seeking to evade Federal source and amount limitations on political contributions by breaking down large contributions from one source into many smaller contributions, nominally attributed to numerous other individuals, potentially without the consent or even knowledge of the putative contributors. The reports also raise concerns that such “straw donations” are being made through “dummy” accounts, potentially using gift cards or prepaid credit cards to evade detection.

Further, there is evidence to suggest that foreign nationals are seeking to misuse online fundraising platforms to improperly influence American elections. A recent House of Representatives investigation revealed that a platform named ActBlue had in recent years detected at least 22 “significant fraud campaigns”, nearly half of which had a foreign nexus. During a 30-day window during the 2024 campaign, the platform detected 237 donations from foreign IP addresses using prepaid cards, indicating that this activity remains a pressing concern.

These activities undermine the integrity of our electoral process. Therefore, I direct the Attorney General, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury, to use all lawful authority, as necessary, to investigate allegations regarding the unlawful use of online fundraising platforms to make “straw” or “dummy” contributions or foreign contributions to political candidates and committees, and to take all appropriate actions to enforce the law.

I further direct the Attorney General to report back to me through the Counsel to the President within 180 days of the date of this memorandum on the results of the investigation.

This memorandum is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

The Gateway Pundit has reported extensively on the smurfing issues discovered by Peter Bernegger, Chris Gleason, Draza Smith, and the rest of their team.

James O’Keefe initially reported on these findings and began knocking on the doors of individuals who were documented on Federal Election Commission’s individual contributions database as giving often tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars broken down into thousands of small donations, usually around $1.

These funds were then distributed by ActBlue to campaigns for politicians such as Mark Kelly, Raphael Warnock, Tammy Baldwin, and many other politicians, ranging from federal office holders down to local mayors and city councilmembers.

President Trump set to sign an Executive Order today going after ActBlue

ActBlue is a criminal money laundering machine for liberal politicians, but there is more: including to or for terrorists! See third image here on that:@immutablechrist @TheTVConsPiracy https://t.co/pR6hi9B1Vv pic.twitter.com/G0ARKGN3Ka

The thread of short clips below from Badlands Media’s Why We Vote podcast in November 2024 documents some of the findings of Bernegger’s team, as well as the methods by which these monies are being laundered back to the United States and disbursed to campaigns.

Bernegger insists that these funds are mostly from taxpayer funds sent overseas, with portions being sent back to the United States through gift cards and then disbursed to political campaigns through fundraising platforms like ActBlue.

It’s not just ActBlue and Democrats benefiting from this scheme, however.  Last month, on the Why We Vote podcast, Bernegger revealed that Senator Ted Cruz has also shown up as a recipient of these smurf funds through WinRed, the GOP equivalent of ActBlue.  Bernegger has claimed that the distribution of funds is about 85% ActBlue to 15% WinRed.

Perhaps the reason Republicans are shuffling their feet on an ActBlue registration is because they know they’re next.

WinRed is doing the same thing, albeit on a much smaller scale (85% to 15% ActBlue to WinRed). @PeterBernegger and his team discovered this laundering of US… pic.twitter.com/9yg7PD5KiG

Last month, The Gateway Pundit reported that ActBlue was facing “internal chaos” at their headquarters as seven senior officials resigned.  Further, the organization was left with just one attorney, Zain Ahmad, remaining in its general counsel office, whom claims to he was facing internal retaliation.

Ahmad had all of his email access and access to other platforms cut off.  In response, he wrote, “Please be advised that we have Anti-Retaliation and Whistleblower Policies for a reason.”

As this memorandum is being published, President Trump is battling against lawfare over his election integrity executive order.  This memorandum will likely face similar retaliation from NGO lawfare groups that rely heavily on funding from these types of platforms.

Victor Reacts: Federalist No. 78 Called the Judiciary the Weakest Branch — What Happened?(VIDEO)

As rogue federal judges continue their attempts to usurp the powers of the President of the United States, it is worth recalling Federalist Paper No. 78.

Alexander Hamilton wrote, “The judiciary, on the contrary, has no influence over either the sword or the purse; no direction either of the strength or of the wealth of the society; and can take no active resolution whatever. It may truly be said to have neither FORCE nor WILL, but merely judgment; and must ultimately depend upon the aid of the executive arm even for the efficacy of its judgments. . . .”

Meanwhile, it seems that the President of the United States is on the verge of needing to ask the judiciary’s permission in order to breathe.

The Gateway Pundit recently reported,

A federal judge out of San Francisco on Thursday blocked President Trump from pulling federal funds from ‘sanctuary cities.’

US District Judge William Orrick said withholding federal funds from sanctuary cities is unconstitutional.

President Trump issued a flurry of executive orders – in his first term – and now in his second term – to withhold funds from jurisdictions harboring illegal aliens.

Santa Clara, San Francisco and 14 other cities and counties sued the Trump Administration. They moved for a preliminary injunction blocking President Trump’s executive orders.

“Here we go again,” Judge Orrick wrote in his 6-page order blasting Trump for his second round of executive orders aimed at ending the subsidization of open borders.

In 2017, Judge Orrick permanently blocked a similar executive order from Trump’s effort to defund sanctuary cities.

The judge said withholding funds from sanctuary jurisdictions is unconstitutional. He said it violates the Fifth and Tenth Amendments and also violates due process.

This is just the latest example in a growing list of times that federal judges have attempted to compel the president’s foreign policy, trade policy, domestic policy, immigration policy, etc. If we are to allow unelected rogue judges to assume the role of president, why do we have elections? These judges have become unelected political actors violating the will of the people.

SHOCK VIDEO: Tyrant Supreme Court Justice Moraes Sends Court Officer to Subpoena Brazil’s Bolsonaro IN THE ICU After a 12-Hour Surgery – Outraged Reactions in the US and Europe

Shocking: court officer subpoenaing Bolsonaro IN THE ICU.

Whenever we think the tyranny by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has reached an unsurpassable level, he goes about surprising us with an even more outrageous actions in his quest to convict and imprison Bolsonaro.

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was served a subpoena yesterday (23) about the criminal prosecution in the Supreme Court in which he is a defendant for the totally imaginary charge of ‘attempted coup d’état’.

The document was delivered by a court officer and signed by him around 1 pm, inside the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed of the DF Star hospital, in Brasília, where he has been hospitalized since the 12th.

Conexão Política reported:

“The delivery was authorized by the STF before his medical discharge, after the former president participated in a live broadcast on the internet directly from the hospital. The responsible court officer was appointed to carry out the diligence in the morning.

With the signature, Bolsonaro was officially informed about the opening of the criminal action of which he is a party. The case concerns facts related to the alleged attempt to disrupt the institution after the 2022 elections. According to the STF, the other defendants in the so-called “core 1” had already been notified between April 11 and 15, shortly after the publication of the ruling of the First Panel’s decision that accepted the complaint filed by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).”

Across Brazil and around the world, the reactions came in hard and fast:

Member of the European Parliament says he has lived under communism, knows what it’s like, and calls for European Union sanctions against Alexandre de Moraes.

In an unsurprising but unwelcome development, the health situation o Bolsonaro took a turn for the worse.

Who could have imagined that subpoenaing a person who is in the ICU, 10 days after undergoing a 12-hour surgery, would worsen his health.

There is only one answer to this: Alexandre de Moraes wants to kill Bolsonaro https://t.co/skhNdc5MiV pic.twitter.com/aIB4xsF6NI
