UK Supreme Court Delivers Major Blow to Trans Lobby — Rules ‘Woman’ Only Refers to Biological Females (VIDEO)

The United Kingdom’s Supreme Court has ruled that the term “woman” refers to a biological female.

The case, which was originally brought by transgender-skeptical feminists against the regional Scottish government, sought to establish in law whether the word woman referred to a biological female or included people who identify as such.

“The unanimous decision of this court is that the terms woman and sex in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex,” Patrick Hodge, deputy president of the Supreme Court, said as he delivered his judgment on Wednesday.

“Therefore, a person with a Gender Recognition Certificate in the female gender does not come within the definition of a ‘woman’ under the Equality Act 2010 and the statutory guidance issued by the Scottish ministers is incorrect.”

The Labour government accepted the ruling, stating that it had given “clarity and confidence” for women on the issue of single-sex spaces.

“Single-sex spaces are protected in law and will always be protected by this government,” a spokesperson said in a statement following the ruling.

Conservative Party Leader Kemi Badenoch, a former equalities minister, hailed the ruling as a “victory for all of the women who faced personal abuse or lost their jobs for stating the obvious.”

“Saying ‘trans women are women’ was never true in fact, and now isn’t true in law either,” she said.

Meanwhile, Maggie Chapman of the Scottish Greens and a member of the Scottish Parliament, denounced the decision as “deeply concerning” and “a huge blow to some of the most marginalised people in our society.”

She added that trans people were now “deeply anxious and worried about how their lives will be affected and about what will come next,” she said.

The ruling is a devastating blow to Britain’s aggressive trans lobby, which has sought to redefine what the term “women” and grant transgender women access the exact same societal and cultural rights as biological females.

Similar to the United States, Britain has seen an explosion of transgender identification and surgeries over the past decade.

An analysis carried out in November 2023 found that the number of people identifying as transgender had risen five-fold since 2000, with a large proportion of them going through with genital mutiliation surgeries to try and reflect their new-found gender.

Austria: Foreign Nationals Made Up Nearly Half of All Criminal Suspects in 2024, New Data Shows

Nearly half of all crime suspects in Austria last year were foreign nationals, even though they represent just 20% of the population, according to the 2024 criminal police report. This stark disparity has reignited fierce political debate over migration and its broader impact on Austrian society.

Out of 335,911 suspects investigated for criminal offenses, 46.8% were non-Austrian, with the largest contingents hailing from Romania, Germany, and Syria, the Austrian press reported. Notably, crimes involving Syrian nationals surged by nearly 30% compared to 2023, with minors accounting for a disproportionate share of that increase.

It’s worth noting that crime data on German suspects can be misleading, as naturalized immigrants are classified as German in official records. The same applies in Austria, where naturalized foreigners aren’t counted as “foreign,” suggesting the true proportion of foreign-born suspects likely exceeds the reported 47 percent.

Interior Minister Gerhard Karner of the ruling Austrian People’s Party presented the data on Monday, noting the broader context: 534,193 criminal cases were reported nationwide in 2024, a 1.2% rise from the previous year. The police managed a 52.9% clearance rate—the third-best in a decade—but the growing role of foreign suspects has cast a long shadow over the figures.

The data highlight an unsettling trend: not only are nearly half of all suspects foreign-born, but youth crime is also exploding. Offenses committed by children aged 10 to 14 nearly doubled, reaching 12,049 cases last year, with 48% of suspects in that age bracket being non-Austrian. Syrian minors alone were involved in nearly 1,000 cases, up tenfold since 2020.

Teen offenders aged 14 to 18 weren’t far behind, contributing to a total of 34,806 reported crimes. Many were tied to burglaries, vandalism, and break-ins targeting cars and vending machines—a crime wave increasingly driven by underage perpetrators.

Some of these minors, officials say, are “system crashers”—repeat offenders responsible for dozens of incidents each month. Just three individuals of this kind were linked to more than 3,000 offenses, with one racking up over 1,200 complaints alone.

Faced with these alarming trends, and under pressure to take a tough-on-crime approach with the right-wing Freedom Party leading in the polls, Karner renewed his call to lower the age of criminal responsibility—a move not yet adopted by the government but gaining momentum.

Austria, OGM poll:

FPÖ-PfE: 32% (-2)
ÖVP-EPP: 23% (+4)
SPÖ-S&D: 21%
NEOS-RE: 11% (-2)
GRÜNE-G/EFA: 9% (-1)
KPÖ-LEFT: 2%

+/- vs. 17-18 February 2025

Fieldwork: 04-09 April 2025
Sample size: 1,042

— Europe Elects (@EuropeElects) April 15, 2025

As an interim step, the interior minister has proposed expanding detention facilities for chronic youth offenders. The NEOS party, typically more liberal on issues related to criminal justice, even backed the idea, advocating for a balance of detention, rehabilitation, and education.

“If 12-year-olds are repeatedly injuring others or themselves, we can’t just stand by,” said Bettina Emmerling (NEOS), who serves as foreign minister and Vienna’s deputy mayor.

Karner also wants harsher penalties for truancy. He’s proposing to raise the current €400 parental fine to €2,000 in cases of repeated school absences.

Property-related offenses rose by 2%, even as residential burglaries declined. The spike came from a 25% jump in break-ins targeting vehicles and vending machines—a trend police directly tie to immigrant youth gangs.

Meanwhile, cybercrime, though still widespread, showed a 5% decline—the first drop in two decades. Federal Criminal Police Office Director Andreas Holzer credited better public awareness but urged greater investment in digital forensics and expanded powers for tracking encrypted communication.

The report’s findings, as one might expect, have intensified calls for stricter immigration controls. Vienna’s Freedom Party (FPÖ) leader Dominik Nepp demanded that the age of criminal responsibility be lowered to 12 and blamed lax border policies for Austria’s crime problems.

Vienna’s Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) chair Karl Mahrer echoed the sentiment, criticizing the city’s welfare programs and migration policies as “magnets for criminality.”

Significantly, officials acknowledged that the real proportion of foreign-born suspects may be far higher. Naturalized immigrants are counted as Austrian citizens in crime statistics—a factor that skews the numbers and likely underestimates the scale of foreign involvement.

Amid growing public safety concerns, Austria now faces pressing questions: how to address the surge in youth crime, reform its criminal justice system, and grapple with the long-term consequences of decades of pro-mass migration policies

Karner, a leading member of the ÖVP—the very party that helped shape the pro-mass migration policies contributing to Austria’s current challenges—is now insisting that the status quo can no longer be maintained.

WITCH HUNT: Elderly Women Accused of Witchcraft and Sorcery Face Attacks and Even Murder in Ghana: Amnesty International

Women have to be placed in ‘Witch Camp’ for security.

The West African nation of Ghana is living a literal witch hunt: hundreds of elderly women suspected of witchcraft and sorcery are facing violent reprisals that can escalate to lynching and murder.

Amnesty International asked Monday (14) for the Ghanaian government to criminalize these accusations and the ritual attacks.

Back in 2023, the parliament passed legislation that made it a criminal offense ‘to declare, accuse, name or label someone as a witch’ but the bill is yet to be signed into law.

CBS News reported:

“’The accusations, which can lead to threats, physical attacks or even death, usually start within the family or among community members following a tragic event such as an illness or a death’, Amnesty said.

‘Older women living in poverty, with health conditions or disabilities are at greater risk, as well as women who do not conform to stereotypical gender roles. In some cases, accusers even base their claims on having had a bad dream about a person’, it added.”

90-year-old Akua Denteh, in 2020, lynched to death for being a witch.

The belief and practice of witchcraft is widespread in rural communities on the west African coast, including Ghana.

Two men in Zambia were just charged with ‘practicing witchcraft and possessing charms intended to harm the country’s president’.

“People accused of witchcraft are usually banished from their home areas and in Ghana they seek refuge in camps run by traditional priests ‘where they remain until they die or a family member or another community accepts them’, the rights monitor said.”

The government in Ghana does not provide food, safe housing and clean water for the alleged witches.

“’The authorities should pass legislation specifically criminalizing witchcraft accusations and ritual attacks, including protective measures for potential victims’, said Genevieve Partington, Amnesty’s country director in Ghana.”

New ATF Deputy Director, Who Has Been with the Agency Since 2005, Appointed After Second-in-Command Was Forced Out in Major Shakeup

Robert Cekada Credit: ATF

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has forced out its second-in-command, Deputy Director Marvin Richardson, and replaced him with career government agent Robert Cekada.

Richardson, a 35-year veteran of the agency, was reportedly given a choice: resign or be removed. According to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to Reuters, Richardson submitted his resignation late Wednesday after pressure mounted from top brass within the Trump administration.

Stepping into the role is Robert Cekada, who has been with the ATF since 2005.

Cekada’s appointment has drawn immediate scrutiny from conservatives, who question whether his extensive background in regulatory enforcement signals a more aggressive approach to targeting lawful gun owners.

With a resume that includes overseeing ATF’s Office of Regulatory Operations and serving as Special Agent in Charge of high-profile field divisions, Cekada has spent much of his career navigating the intersection of law enforcement and federal gun policy.

According to ATF’s website:

Robert Cekada was appointed as the Deputy Director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in April 2025. As the second highest ranking official at ATF, he is responsible for leading an agency of men and women charged with enforcing laws and regulations related to firearms, explosives, arson, and alcohol and tobacco trafficking.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Cekada served as the Executive Assistant Director – Operations, Office of the Director since September 2022. In this position, he oversaw ATF’s Office of Regulatory Operations, Office of Field Operations, and the Office of Intelligence Operations.

From January 2022 to September 2022, Mr. Cekada served as the Deputy Assistant Director Central, Field Operation, where he was responsible for operational and regulatory oversight of the 19 States located within the central region of the United States.

Previously, he served as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Miami Field Division, where he was responsible for oversight of all ATF criminal enforcement and regulatory operations in 21 offices located across southern Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He also served as the SAC of the Baltimore Field Division, overseeing criminal enforcement and regulatory operations in Maryland and Delaware.

Prior to that assignment, Mr. Cekada served as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Field Division and the Resident Agent in Charge of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force North in the Miami Field Division. He also serves as a board member on the National Crime Gun Intelligence Governing Board and on the IACP Firearms Committee.

Mr. Cekada began his ATF career as a Special Agent in the Baltimore Field Division’s Hyattsville II Field Office, working on the Regional Area Gang Enforcement Task Force from 2005 to 2011. From there, he joined the Tampa Field Division for two years before reporting to ATF headquarters in 2013, initially as a project officer in the Firearms Operations Division’s Frontline Branch, and then as a program manager serving as a special assistant to senior leaders.

Prior to joining ATF, Mr. Cekada served as a local law enforcement officer with two agencies. From 1992 to 2000, he was a police officer with the New York City Police Department. He was assigned to the Housing Bureau, Citywide Anti-Gang Enforcement Unit, and the Street Crime Unit, where he was promoted to detective.

After joining the Organized Crime Control Bureau’s Gang Division, he focused his efforts on gun violence attributed to gang activity. Mr. Cekada then joined the City of Plantation Police Department in Broward County, Florida, where he served with the Patrol Division and Special Weapons and Tactics Team from 2001 to 2005.

Cekada’s appointment comes after U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll was tapped as the new acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), replacing FBI Director Kash Patel.

JUST IN: California Governor Gavin Newsom Announces Lawsuit Against President Trump

President Trump’s constitutional authority is about to face another serious challenge thanks to the governor of the most populous state in the union.

As KTLA reported, California Governor and likely 2028 Presidential candidate Gavin Newsom announced this morning he will be suing Trump, claiming that the president’s tariffs are “wrecking chaos” across the Golden State. This marks the first time a state has taken legal action against Trump over tariffs.

The suit filed by Newsom will argue that Trump’s use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China or a 10% tariff on all imports violates the U.S. Constitution. The act, which was signed in law by then-President Jimmy Carter in 1977, enables a president to freeze and block transactions in response to foreign threats.

“President Trump’s unlawful tariffs are wreaking chaos on California families, businesses, and our economy — driving up prices and threatening jobs,” Newsom fumed in a statement. “We’re standing up for American families who can’t afford to let the chaos continue.”

Newsom went on to argue that California could lose billions of dollars due to Trump’s tariffs.

KTLA reports that the suit will be filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, a Democrat-friendly venue. The state of California is expected to request the court to immediately block the tariffs.

As KTLA notes, Newsom’s move comes after he has begged countries to grant California counties a special exemption from tariffs.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Trump announced on April 2 the implementation of a 10% baseline tariff on all imports, effective April 5, 2025. The worst offenders will be hit with even tougher measures on April 9.

Speaking from the White House Rose Garden, President Trump proclaimed April 2 as “Liberation Day,” marking a new era of economic independence.

He emphasized that this measure is essential to protect American jobs and revitalize domestic manufacturing.

The Gateway Pundit’s Cassandra MacDonald then revealed that Trump last week announced an immediate tariff increase on China to 125%. He also granted a 90-day pause and tariff reduction to 10% for over 75 other countries.

Trump announced the tariff change on Truth Social, writing that it was due to China’s “lack of respect for the World’s Markets.”

Christian Actor Neal McDonough Says “Beacon of Light” Gold Company Can Be Trusted in These Crazy Times

Bible-believing Christians and those who are concerned about the economic future of America have the consensus view that strange times are ahead. Even with fiscal spirits raised by the election of President Donald J. Trump, geopolitical turmoil continues to threaten the markets.

Physical precious metals like gold and silver continue to draw Americans to them even as price records are being broken every week.

Christian actor Neal McDonough said, “In a world full of uncertainties, Genesis Gold Group has been a beacon of light for me and my family. That is why they have my complete confidence and faith.”

With recent movies that highlight the uncertainty of today’s world, including “Homestead” by Angel Studio that tells of the aftermath of a nuclear attack, McDonough has built a reputation of being acutely aware of end times scenarios. His work with Genesis was recently highlighted during an ad he cut with fellow Christian actor Dean Cain.

Faith Before Finances

“For the love of money is the root of all evil…”

1 Timothy 6:10 is often misquoted to say that money itself is the root of all evil. This isn’t true. We can take the necessary actions in our lives to secure our futures and support our families without falling into a life driven by the acquisition of material things.

This is why Genesis Gold Group is very different from other precious metals companies. Their adherence to financial stewardship as it aligns with faithful stewardship can be understood with their free, world class Wealth Protection Guide.

But not all of their clients are Bible-believing Christians. Some turn to Genesis because they have demonstrated an uncanny integrity that is rare in the cutthroat business of precious metals.

Unlike other companies in the industry, Genesis Gold Group does not promise “bonus” or “free” silver to their clients. Such offers are disingenuous; these companies don’t have so much extra silver that they can send out thousands of dollars worth to people who pay their $199 service fee. The math doesn’t add up, which is why even non-believers appreciate the straight-forward and transparent process that Genesis Gold Group facilities for its clients.

To learn why McDonough and so many others are turning to Genesis Gold Group for their precious metals needs, request their Wealth Protection Guide today.

J6 Sedition Cases Actually Attack On Free Speech – Trump Can Be Like Thomas Jefferson

As an advocate and journalist for the January 6ers and other politically persecuted Americans, I find myself learning about our founders and our government with every patriot I meet or interview. I sat down recently with David Moerschel and received an amazing history lesson I never got in school. He asked me to share how history truly repeats itself and provides the answers.

The accusation of Sedition against the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys, from the first, was seen as a stretch of the law. Immediately after the charges were filed, people began noting that “The First Amendment also may pose a significant hurdle for prosecutors trying to prove seditious conspiracy.” (The Conversation, Jan 14, 2022)

President Trump commuted the sentences of those who went to trial for Sedition. (He pardoned those who pleaded guilty to Sedition.) He promised to look into these commuted cases more closely.

As the Oath Keeper and Proud Boys trials unfolded, it became clear that there was no evidence of Sedition. Historically, Sedition has been weaponized against political opponents for over 300 years.

Sedition Laws Weaponized Against Oath Keepers and Proud Boys

David Moerschel was an Oath Keeper convicted of sedition. He lost a good job in the medical field. He was in custody for 2 years. He has firsthand knowledge of how Sedition was weaponized against him.

Help David fight for this pardon and get on his feet again. Donate HERE  (www.givesendgo.com/davidlegalfund)

David and I sat down together, and he explained how going back over 300 years, Benjamin Franklin warned about how important free speech was to liberty. In the next paragraph, Franklin warns of how tyrannical leaders use the accusation of sedition to stifle free speech.

John Adams Indicted Many Opponents of Sedition for Speaking Out

John Adams was one such tyrannical leader. In spite of Franklin’s warnings, Adams passed the Sedition Act of 1798. Immediately after passing the law, he indicted Benjamin Franklin Bache, Benjamin Franklin’s grandson, on Sedition. This was only the beginning of the many people Adams would arrest and imprison for sedition. What was their crime? They simply spoke out against Adams.

Elements of Sedition Not Proved in Oath Keeper Trial

David Moerschel broke down the Oath Keeper trial for me. He showed how, the government’s own witnesses proved there was no Sedition. Watch the full video below!

There are two elements that are required to prove Sedition. Number one: there must be conspiracy or agreement to commit some crime. The government’s own witnesses denied that the Oath Keepers had a plan. (See Trial 2 Transcript, pgs 1666, 3887, 3921, 3922.) Number two: there must be some use of force. It’s on video. They simply never used force. It is almost comical when you look at the actual trial.

I had to include an excerpt from the trial showing there was no use of force, because it is so funny. Here is a defense attorney cross-examining an Oath Keeper that took a plea deal and testified on behalf of the Government:

Q: So, this document that you had to sign as part of your plea agreement says you, in fact, used force, right?

A: Yeah.

Q: But as you sit here today, you didn’t use any force, did you?

A: Well, I was saying I didn’t use force against any specific individuals.

Q: Well, in what way did you use force?

A: Well, my presence being in there was hindering —

Q: Standing still is the use of force? (Trial 2 Transcript, pg 3895)

The Prosecution’s idea of using force to overthrow the Government is one’s mere presence in a building during a protest. Let that sink in. If it were not so serious, it would be laughable! So that anyone who attends a protest or rally to exercise their First Amendment rights could be indicted on Sedition – for your mere presence. This kind of abuse is nothing new, as I noted in the story of John Adams and the Sedition Trials.

Oath Keeper’s Fundamental Crime? Hyperbolic Speech

So, if the Oath Keepers had no plan, and if there was no force, then what was the fundamental crime? David argues that the politically charged, hyperbolic, speech of the group was the actual crime. The whole country was ablaze with politically charged speech after the 2020 election. Except, the Constitution protects the freedom of speech Even the Associated Press admitted, “anti-government sentiment or general calls to “action” against purported “tyrants” – or statements of that nature – don’t rise to the level of a seditious conspiracy.”

To prove that the accusation of Sedition for the Oath Keepers (and by extension the Proud Boys too) was an attack on Free Speech, look at how the Government treated the Oath Keepers.

At every turn, the government tried to stop them from exercising free speech. They put draconian restrictions on them:

1. Pretrial: David was not allowed to have computers or internet in the house. Even his children’s tablet was taken away. Only his wife was allowed to have a smart phone. David had to have a flip phone.

2. In Prison: All David’s phone calls and emails were monitored. That is not normal. He was under extra scrutiny in prison.

3. At the halfway house: David was on social medial restriction. His phone was regularly searched.

4. If he was put on probation: David would have been subjected to computer and network monitoring, social media and email restrictions.

5. Even now that he was commuted, he is experiencing free speech infringements. For the third time, X/Twitter suspended his accounts. X/Twitter also suspended Stewart Rhodes and Joseph Biggs, to name a few.

Truly, the accusation of Sedition for the Oath Keepers (and Proud Boys) centered on an attack on free speech.

President Trump Can Be Like Thomas Jefferson.

Thomas Jefferson was a champion for Free Speech and for those targeted by the tyrant John Adams. Thomas Jefferson pardoned all those accused of Sedition by John Adams.

Thomas Jefferson wrote, “I discharge [by Pardon or dropping the charges] every person under punishment or prosecution under the Sedition Law, because I considered, and now consider, that law to be a nullity as absolute and palpable as if Congress had ordered us to fall down and worship a golden image.” Letter to Abigail Adams, 22 July 1804 http://libertytree.ca/quotes/Thomas.Jefferson.Quote.A0A9

Joseph Biden Was Like John Adams. Will Trump Be Our Thomas Jefferson?

We are asking Trump to pardon the remaining 12 of the 14 accused of Sedition by the tyrant Joseph Biden and restore their rights. On January 20th, Trump only commuted their sentences with a promise to examine their cases and possibly grant the pardon. You can help them get the pardon! Go to www.PardonThe14.com and request a post card and mail it to the White House. Simply put your name and address and drop it in the mail.

IRS Whistleblower Gary Shapley, Who Investigated Hunter Biden Tax Fraud, Expected to Be Named Acting IRS Commissioner

Screenshot: CBS Evening News / Youtube

Gary Shapley, the IRS whistleblower who exposed the political interference in the Hunter Biden tax investigation, is expected to be named Acting Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, according to a memo reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Shapley’s appointment comes as former President Donald Trump’s nominee for permanent IRS Commissioner, former Missouri Congressman Billy Long, awaits Senate confirmation.

His anticipated appointment as Acting Commissioner follows the resignation of Melanie Krause, who stepped down amid controversy over a data-sharing agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

This agreement permits ICE to access certain taxpayer information, such as names and addresses, to aid in identifying and deporting illegal aliens.

Krause complained that she was left out of the loop and only found out about the agreement after it was finalized.

According to WSJ, “Shapley replaces Melanie Krause, who had been acting commissioner since late February and announced her departure after the Treasury Department and the Department of Homeland Security signed a data-sharing agreement aimed at helping the government find some immigrants suspected of crimes. Krause replaced Douglas O’Donnell, a longtime agency employee who retired in February. O’Donnell replaced Danny Werfel, who resigned on Inauguration Day.”

Gary Shapley became a central figure in the investigations into Hunter Biden’s financial crimes and the Biden family’s overseas business dealings.

His whistleblower testimony, reported extensively by The Gateway Pundit, has exposed a politically motivated cover-up by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the IRS under the Biden regime.

In July 2023, Shapley testified before Congress, asserting that two Biden-appointed U.S. Attorneys in Washington, D.C. and California obstructed charges against Hunter Biden.

He claimed that the DOJ allowed political appointees to influence the decision-making process, hindering the progression of the case.

These claims were echoed by Ziegler, who stated that US Attorney for Delaware David Weiss was “constantly hamstrung, limited, and marginalized” by DOJ officials.

Shapley’s testimony was bolstered by contemporaneous handwritten notes he took during an October 7, 2022, meeting with Weiss.

These notes, released by his attorneys and reported by The Gateway Pundit, contradicted the account of FBI agent Thomas Sobocinski, who was also involved in the case. The notes suggested that Weiss admitted he was not the final decision-maker on charging Hunter Biden.

Shapley revealed that Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf rejected a search warrant for President Joe Biden’s Delaware residence, citing concerns about “optics,” despite acknowledging probable cause.

Additionally, he testified that the CIA intervened to prevent the IRS from interviewing Kevin Morris, a close associate of Hunter Biden, after a classified briefing at CIA headquarters.

During a House Oversight Committee hearing, Shapley and fellow IRS whistleblower Joseph Ziegler confirmed their belief that references to “the Big Guy” in Hunter Biden’s communications pertained to President Joe Biden.

The Gateway Pundit reported in May 2024 that Shapley and Ziegler faced retaliation from Special Counsel David Weiss, who was appointed to oversee the Hunter Biden case.

Weiss filed a document in March 2024 that falsely suggested Shapley and Ziegler were under investigation for misconduct. Shapley’s attorneys described this as a deliberate attempt to discredit the whistleblowers, with one calling it “a slap in the face” to their efforts to expose prosecutorial misconduct.

However, in March 2025, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appointed them to leadership roles within the Treasury Department.

Secretary Bessent: The culture of being able to come forward when you see wrongdoing is a central part of our democracy. I saw these two fellows before the President’s address to Congress in Speaker Johnson’s office. They came over to me and said, Sir, we’re still being harassed. I had been in touch with Senator Grassley about what was happening to them, but seeing them in person really brought it home for me.

I went and decided I would bring them into Treasury, give them a year to investigate the wrongdoing that’s going on at the IRS, and then they will go back in. Mr. Shapley will serve as the Senior Deputy for Investigation and Enforcement.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis May Remove Orlando’s Democratic Mayor If He Upholds Sanctuary City Policies

Buddy Dyer / Screenshot

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is warning Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer that he may face removal from office if he implements a policy of protecting illegal immigrants.

The threat comes after Dyer said during a meeting with the Orlando Police Department that law enforcement should resist immigration enforcement and should adhere to the Trust Act.

The act, passed in 2018 by city authorities, prohibits city employees and law enforcement from inquiring about an individual’s immigration status.

In a letter to Dyer posted on the X platform, Uthmeier said that Governor Ron DeSantis would reserve the right to remove Dyer from office if he followed down this path.

The letter states:

By prohibiting law enforcement officers from inquiring about a person’s immigration status, the City of Orlando is unlawfully implementing a sanctuary policy and blatantly violating the law.

Law enforcement must be able to attain information regarding an individual’s legal status in order to comply with state and federal immigration laws and assist in federal immigration operations.

They are authorized to collect this information without hindrance under Florida law. As the mayor of the City of Orlando and as an official responsible for directing OPD, you must use best efforts to support the enforcement of federal immigration crimes as required by Florida law.

Sanctuary policies are not tolerated or lawful in Florida. Failure to abide by state law may result in the enforcement of applicable penalties, including but not limited to being held in contempt, declaratory or injunctive relief, and removal from office by the Governor pursuant to section 908.107, Florida Statutes and the Florida Constitution.

Today, I sent a letter to @orlandomayor reminding him that the sanctuary policy adopted by the city in 2018, the ‘Trust Act,’ is void under a 2019 law signed by @GovRonDeSantis.

— Attorney General James Uthmeier (@AGJamesUthmeier) April 14, 2025

Dyer responded to Uthmeir with a letter claiming that he takes immigration law “very seriously” and that he and the Orlando Police Department do not “have any intention of violating federal or state law.”

He added that city authorities are gearing up to “continue to use our best efforts to support the enforcement of federal immigration law, as well as state law.”

While Florida has become a massive Republican stronghold, Orlando remains one of the few areas of liberal resistance.

Dyer has served as the city’s mayor for over two decades. His most recent re-election was in November 2023, when he declared that would be his final term in office.
