It would be a huge mistake for President Trump to visit Ukraine, ground zero of the globalist mafia’s war efforts in Europe. He already had one Ukraine War fanatic try to take him out at a Florida golf course. He has no business is visiting Zelensky’s quagmire.

And, at this point, why in the world would President Trump trust Volodymyr Zelensky to keep his word?

Zelensky has lied repeatedly to the Trump administration.

In late March, Zelensky defied the Trump administration, saying he did not recognize the $150+ billion of US taxpayer money spent on Ukraine as a loan and that he will not sign a reworked mineral deal.

Ukraine also continues to push for war as young Ukrainian men are blown to pieces on the front lines.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was played by Zelensky at least three times on a US-Ukraine mineral deal.

President Trump should keep away from Ukraine’s crazed illegitimate president, Zelensky.

In a world where the global economy bristles with grievances, lamentations and threats, the U.S. tariffs against China arouse anger and incomprehension. Labeled as retrograde protectionism, these tariffs – of up to 145% – are nonetheless defensible in the light of Adam Smith, titan of liberal thought. Far from caricatures, Smith, in The Wealth of Nations (1776), was no zealot of unilateral free trade. His nuances, rooted in pragmatism, offer a surprising reading grid for understanding Republican politics.

Let’s start by setting the scene. The United States, in imposing these tariffs, aims to rebalance a Sino-American trade relationship that it deems iniquitous: an abysmal trade deficit ($400 billion in 2018, before the first tariffs), systematic and even systemic theft of intellectual property by Beijing, and a worrying strategic dependence for key sectors such as steel or semiconductors.

Purists cry scandal, invoking free trade and peace through commerce. But what is Adam Smith really saying?

The author of The Wealth of Nations certainly despised artificial restrictions. Take his criticism of tariffs favoring local monopolies: “To give the monopoly of the home-market to the produce of domestic industry, in any particular art or manufacture, is in some measure to direct private people in what manner they ought to employ their capitals, and must, in almost all cases, be either a useless or a hurtful regulation.” (Book IV, Chapter II). At first glance, U.S. tariffs, by protecting American steel or electronics, for example, are open to criticism. They distort the market, make goods more expensive for the US consumer, and risk diverting capital to less competitive industries. The figures bear this out: tariffs cost around 0.2% of US GDP in 2019, a toll paid by households via higher prices.

First exception: national defense

But Smith did admit exceptions, and the first resonates with US rhetoric: national defense. The Navigation Act, or more precisely the Navigation Acts, refers to a series of laws passed by the British Parliament between 1651 and 1733 to regulate trade within the British Empire. Their aim was to maintain England’s strategic and maritime primacy. Let’s read Smith: “The act of navigation is not favourable to foreign commerce, or to the opulence which can arise from it… As defence, however, is of much more importance than opulence, the act of navigation is, perhaps, the wisest of all the commercial regulations of England.” (Book IV, Chapter II).

Trump’s aim in taxing Chinese steel from 2018 is not just to resurrect American blast furnaces (although the symbol has panache). It’s about reducing dependence on a geopolitical rival whose rise threatens American security. In 2017, China produced 50% of the world’s steel – with an output of around 831 million metric tons out of a global total of around 1.69 billion tons, according to World Steel Association data – often subsidized, crushing competitors with fire-sale prices. If America loses its ability to produce strategic materials, what does it become in the event of conflict? A nation of traders, influencers, and woke whiners? Smith, a pragmatist, would have understood the argument: security takes precedence over short-term advantage.

But above all, free trade is like tango: it takes two. Through its non-tariff barriers and a thousand other disingenuous means, China has closed its market to Western companies in most sectors. The West lies gaping in the face of a China that is essentially closed to it. There is nothing free in this exchange, only a partner (the West) that finances the rise of a regime that dreams of crushing it.

Second exception: retaliation against closed countries

Precisely, Adam Smith was in favor of what he called retaliation against cheating partners such as China. “There may be good policy in retaliations of this kind, when there is a probability that they will procure the repeal of the high duties or prohibitions complained of. The recovery of a great foreign market will generally more than compensate the transitory inconveniency of paying dearer during a short time for some sorts of goods.” (Book IV, Chapter II). It couldn’t be clearer!

The American objective? Force China to negotiate and open its markets – or lose the American market. Beijing, with its non-tariff barriers, massive subsidies, and disregard for WTO rules (such as patent plundering), is not a fair-play partner. In fact, American tariffs led to the Phase 1 agreement in 2020, in which China pledged to buy more American goods and to protect intellectual property. The result was mixed, admittedly – Beijing kept only 60% of its purchase promises – but the leverage worked. Smith, who detested state-backed monopolies – and China is one of them- nationwide – would have applauded this attempt to restore a semblance of fairness.

Third reality: Smith’s hatred of non-tariff barriers

Smith had a deep-seated hatred of non-tariff barriers, which under various pretexts, notably sanitary, are designed to exclude outside competition: “The laudable motive of all these regulations, is to extend our own manufactures, not by their own improvement, but by the depression of those of all our neighbours, and by putting an end, as much as possible, to the troublesome competition of such odious and disagreeable rivals.” (Book IV, Chapter VIII). China is the Mozart of non-tariff barriers. Here’s what Politico, unsuspecting of sympathy for Trump, wrote this weekend: “This is what China does – trade action masquerading as legit public policy based on science. (…) Such technical trade barriers give Beijing two bangs for the buck – plausible deniability and lethality.’

Conclusion: U.S. tariffs in line with Adam Smith’s thinking

Faced with a closed and doleful China, free-trade orthodoxy seems very fragile. Beijing manipulates its currency, subsidizes its industrial champions and closes its domestic market while flooding the world. The USA, with its tariffs, has broken a taboo.

So, would Smith bless Trump’s tariffs? Not without gnashing his teeth. He would have praised the strategic boldness – protecting defense, countering an unfair adversary – but deplored the collateral damage and the risks of one-upmanship. Let’s just say that Trump, like a sometimes brutal surgeon, operates with a kitchen knife without anesthetic.

But faced with a cheating, torturing colossus like China, subtlety is a coward’s screen. Smith, as a realist, understood this.

When the day comes that China invades Taiwan, the democratic island that has long been a rhetorical target for its Communist neighbor could send its residents to their closest 7-Eleven.

The convenience store chain has 13,000 locations in Taiwan, making it a potential gathering place for the government to send its citizens to pick up rations and medical supplies, according to The Guardian.

China insists Taiwan is rightfully a part of China. The self-governing island expects that a blockade will be the precursor to an invasion, along with attacks on the power grid and the internet. Travel by train or plane would be non-existent, meaning residents would need to be within walking distance of a pre-arranged community hub.

The concept of the stores being wartime shelters was created by a panel brought together by Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te to prepare for an invasion. Taiwan’s 7-Eleven stores played a pivotal role in dispensing medicine and supplies during COVID-19, making their use in war an idea to consider.

The panel’s name makes its purpose clear. The “whole of society defense resilience committee” is designed to mobilize civilians for their assigned roles when war comes.

“Faced with threats, whether they are natural disasters or authoritarian expansion ambitions, we believe that as long as the government and society as a whole are prepared, they can respond,” Lai told the panel.

“For a society constantly threatened by natural disasters and other risks, there’s a useful principle: Don’t panic, but don’t relax,” said Wen Lii, a representative of the president’s office.

“Private businesses can play a crucial role in issues such as distributing critical supplies,” Wen Lii continued. “Private businesses have also joined discussions on providing shelter space, medical supplies and stockpiling.”

A December tabletop exercise showed flaws in food distribution and communication.

“After the tabletop exercises, things changed very fast because every ministry realized how unprepared they are,” said committee member Poyu Tseng, a consultant at NGO Doublethink Lab.

“They’re just, one by one, realizing, ‘Oh, this is a very weak plan’ … it’s forced people to think more,” he said.

Taiwan’s biggest weakness is that it imports 97 percent of its energy, with strategic reserves holding about 90 days’ worth of coal and oil.

“Energy will be the most critical problem that people will talk about, because the shelters, the transportation, the hospitals, they all need the energy,” said Dr. Wen-ling Tu, a committee member focused on energy and critical infrastructure.

Taiwan is becoming more aggressive in pushing back against China, which has been conducting low-level harassment of the island.  Last week, for the first time, a Chinese ship captain was charged with intentionally damaging undersea cables, according to Reuters.

American war planners are nervous.

“China’s unprecedented aggression and military modernization poses a serious threat to the homeland, our allies and our partners,” Adm. Samuel Paparo, commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee last week, according to Fox News.

“With military pressure against Taiwan increasing by 300 percent, China’s increasingly aggressive actions near Taiwan are not just exercises, they are rehearsals.” he said.

“While PLA attempts to intimidate the people of Taiwan and demonstrate coercive capabilities, these actions are backfiring, drawing increased global attention and accelerating Taiwan’s own defense preparations,” Paparo said, referring to the People’s Liberation Army.

Late last month, China launched major military drills on all sides of Taiwan as a “severe warning and forceful containment against Taiwan independence,” said Shi Yi, a representative for the People’s Liberation Army’s Eastern Theater Command, according to CBS.

38-year-old Cody Balmer of Harrisburg has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including attempted homicide, terrorism, aggravated arson, and burglary, following an early morning arson attack on the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence.

According to a court document obtained by The Gateway Pundit, Balmer meticulously planned the assault. Balmer entered the Governor’s Mansion around 1:43 a.m. on Sunday.

Security footage obtained by law enforcement shows Balmer breaking into the piano room on the south side of the residence, igniting the first fire, then moving to the dining room to ignite a second device.

The flames caused significant damage to the historic mansion, where Shapiro, his wife Lori, their four children, and extended family were celebrating the Jewish holiday of Passover just hours earlier.

Upon turning himself in, Balmer confessed to harboring hatred toward Governor Shapiro and admitted that he intended to harm the governor with a hammer if confronted.

A search of Balmer’s home uncovered key pieces of evidence—including the “Snap-On” jacket, black bag, and hammer matching those seen in the security footage.

Gasoline-soaked gloves discarded on a nearby street were also found in a trash bin and matched surveillance evidence.

Investigators are examining whether the attack was politically or ideologically motivated, as Balmer’s actions suggest a targeted attempt to intimidate or harm a public official, according to Politico.

El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele is meeting with President Trump at the White House today.

Last week, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt previewed the meeting to discuss the partnership between the two countries on deporting terrorists and “how El Salvador’s cooperation with the United States has become a model for others to work with this administration.”

She also announced that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will meet with President Trump on Thursday, April 17.

President Trump and President Bukele have partnered to remove the violent gang members and terrorist illegal aliens from our country and transport them to El Salvador, where Bukele will hold them in his brutal prisons.

The El Salvadoran President has even urged the U.S. to impeach activist judges holding back the progress of the Trump agenda and fighting to keep illegals in the United States.

Bukele’s visit comes after the Trump Administration was ordered by a far-left judge to facilitate the return of a member of the MS-13 gang involved in human trafficking from El Salvador.

The DOJ has fired back in a court filing, arguing that “[A] federal court cannot compel the Executive Branch to engage in any mandated act of diplomacy or incursion upon the sovereignty of another nation.”

Bukele is scheduled to arrive at the White House at 11 am ET then join President Trump in the Oval Office, where they are expected to take questions from reporters.

A viral CIA document describes an alleged confrontation between Soviet forces and aliens/ AI-generated image by Grok.

Those of us who have studied some of the recent ‘doc dumps’ from the CIA have been wise to the fact that the mere fact that a document is part of a previously classified trove of data does not in any way guarantee said document’s relevance or veracity.

Case in point: a declassified document posted to the CIA’s website is gone viral, generating controversy over its claims of an early 1990’s UFO attack on Soviet forces.

Fox News reported:

“The viral report summarizes an article published by Canadian Weekly World News and the Ukrainian paper Holos Ukrayiny and was initially released to the public in May 2000. The firsthand report describes a retaliatory alien attack after Soviet soldiers reportedly shot down a UFO flying over a military base.

The aliens reportedly emerged from the wreckage, fusing together into one object and bursting into a bright light and turning all but two of the soldiers to stone.

‘If the KGB file corresponds to reality, this is an extremely menacing case’, an unnamed CIA representative was quoted as saying in the report. ‘The aliens possess such weapons and technology that go beyond all our assumptions. They can stand up for themselves if attacked’.”

It was estimated that the incident occurred between 1989 and 1990, having been initially published in 1993.

U.S. intelligence would have obtained reports of a ‘low-flying spaceship in the shape of a saucer’ over a Soviet unit that was participating in training exercises.

“Officials wrote that ‘for unknown reasons’ the soldiers launched a surface-to-air missile at the unknown aircraft, causing it to crash near the military base.

The report describes how ‘five short humanoids with ´large heads and large black eyes´ emerged’ from the downed spaceship and fused together to create one ‘single object’ while emitting a loud buzzing noise.”

The buzzing ‘spherical object’ burst into a blinding bright light.

“Eyewitness testimonials claim 23 soldiers suddenly ‘turned into stone poles’. Two men reportedly survived the encounter because they were standing in a shaded area and were not completely exposed to the blast of light.”

Remains of the soldiers were transported to a secret scientific research base near Moscow, along with the downed spacecraft.

There, it was allegedly discovered that the soldiers’ molecular structure matched that of limestone.

President Trump waved twice to the media, but did not take questions. President Trump gave his signature “Fight, Fight, Fight” fist pump, and slapped an object from one hand to another, as if motivating himself for the major week ahead.

As soon as President Trump entered the White House, Musk exited Marine One with “X.”

“X” confidently waved to the media, while Musk reached for his son’s hand. Then, Musk broadly smiled while walking past the media, and into the White House – “X” appeared equally jubilant.

Shortly before filming those White House entrances, this Gateway Pundit correspondent filmed Marine One’s dramatic landing on the White House South Lawn. The extreme gusts of wind generated by Marine One forcibly upended this correspondent while filming the helicopter’s landing.

Nevertheless, here is the exclusive footage of the Marine One landing on Sunday. President Trump and Musk can be seen through the Marine One windows.

Now, President Trump will shoulder another action-packed week, with White House visits scheduled for El Salvador’s iconic President Nayib Bukele, and Italy’s populist Prime Minister Girogia Meloni.

As President Trump’s trade war ramps up, the White House will continue to dominate international headlines.

The Left is melting down once again—and this time, it’s over a tinfoil-hat-level conspiracy theory that President Donald Trump is preparing to declare martial law on April 20.

The same people who spent years mocking “QAnon” are now pushing a full-blown BlueAnon fantasy of their own.

The source of this hysteria? None other than James Carville, the aging Democratic strategist who’s apparently desperate to stay relevant.

On a recent episode of Politics War Room, Carville was asked whether Trump was trying to provoke enough unrest to declare martial law and suspend the 2026 elections.

“You’re so correct to be concerned about this… It’s getting worse by the day. It is not going to stop getting worse. And I would be, we ought to be, on high, high alert.”

The left’s panic stems from a deliberate misreading of Trump’s January 20 executive order, which declared a national emergency at the southern border and directed the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to submit a report by April 20.

The report will assess the border crisis—created by years of Democrat open-border policies—and recommend whether to invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807 for enforcement. Nowhere does it mention “martial law,” but that hasn’t stopped the BlueAnon crowd from spinning dystopian fantasies.

The EO reads in part:

“Within 90 days of the date of this proclamation, the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall submit a joint report to the President about the conditions at the southern border of the United States and any recommendations regarding additional actions that may be necessary to obtain complete operational control of the southern border, including whether to invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807.”

​The Insurrection Act of 1807 is not martial law. They are distinct legal concepts in the United States, each with different implications for the use of military force and the role of civilian government.

The Insurrection Act is a federal law that grants the President authority to deploy U.S. military forces domestically under specific circumstances. It serves as an exception to the Posse Comitatus Act, which generally prohibits federal troops from engaging in civilian law enforcement.

Martial law refers to the temporary replacement of civilian government and legal processes with military authority.

The Left’s mass delusion began gaining traction after Trump gave an interview to NBC News on March 30, where he said that there were “methods” by which a third term could be considered.

Per NBC:

“A lot of people want me to do it,” Trump said in a Sunday-morning phone call with NBC News, referring to his allies. “But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.”

“I’m not joking,” Trump said, when asked to clarify. “But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.”

When asked whether he has been presented with plans to allow him to seek a third term, Trump said, “There are methods which you could do it.”

The rumor mill surged into overdrive after an anonymous Substack writer, posting under the name “Aletheisthenes,” published an article titled, “Part 1: On April 20th, 2025, the United States May Cross the Point of No Return.”

In the post, Aletheisthenes wrote:

It sounds wild. Maybe even crazy. But every step is already in motion. I’d be happy to be wrong. But if this is correct… you’ll be ready.
On April 20, 2025, the United States may initiate its final steps into authoritarian rule.

That’s the day Donald Trump’s advisory committee is expected to release its findings on whether he should invoke the Insurrection Act — a move that would allow him to deploy the military domestically and allow Trump to impose martial law. (San Francisco Chronicle). Given Hegseth and Noem are the main “advisors”, the conclusion is foregone.

And as his two months in office has already shown, he won’t stop at just a legal opinion.

Expect an executive order even that same day or the next, officially declaring the Insurrection Act, restricting freedoms in the name of restoring control of the border and perhaps in blue-state cities, and setting the larger plan in motion.

Even far-left fact-checking site Snopes was forced to concede the rumor had no substance

They noted frantic emails from readers citing social media posts about April 20, with one tying the executive order to a supposed martial law plot. Snopes clarified that the order is about border security, not tanks rolling through the streets.

One reader emailed Snopes, “I am seeing many posts on Facebook that on April 20, Trump will declare martial law.” Another person referenced an executive order issued on Jan. 20, the first day of Trump’s second term, and asked, “I have seen a variety of posts suggesting that an early executive order signed by the president has set the stage for the imposition of martial law, and that this will be triggered by a report on the state of the border that will be released on April 20. Any truth here?”

That Jan. 20 executive order declared a national emergency at the southern U.S. border. One part of the order said that the secretaries of defense and homeland security would issue a joint report “within 90 days,” meaning by April 20. It further stated that the report would include guidance about “whether to invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807.” The order did not explicitly mention the words “martial law.”

As of this writing on April 9, this rumor existed more as a prediction than a provable claim. Searches of the websites for the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and the White House yielded no announcements, statements or demonstrable evidence that might help to shed light on the unproven matter.

But that hasn’t stopped Democrats from spreading fear and paranoia.

On Wednesday, April 9, President Trump signed three major executive orders to modernize the United States Military defense infrastructure and restore American maritime dominance.

While issuing these executive orders from the Oval Office on Wednesday, President Trump first signed the executive order titled, “Restoring America’s Maritime Dominance.”

Upon delivering this executive order to President Trump, White House Staff Secretary Will Scharf informed President Trump,

“As you have consistently identified, restoring our maritime dominance as a nation is very important – from shipbuilding to having a merchant marine capable of supporting military efforts up and down the line – restoring maritime dominance has been a priority of this administration.

“This executive order, which was prepared primarily by your National Security Council staff, has a number of very significant policy steps, all aimed at restoring American maritime dominance, and ensuring that we have the shipbuilding capacity to compete, both militarily, and in the civilian space,” Scharf said.

While presenting this executive order, Staff Secretary Scharf informed President Trump,

“Our current defense procurement process has been criticized by many folks on both sides of the aisle as being too slow to adapt to new and changing technologies, and not delivering the sorts of weapons and systems that our warfighters need in order to compete on the battlefields of the future.

“With this executive order, we are going to be modernizing the procurement structure the Department of Defense uses, to allow it to more quickly adapt to changing circumstances around the world.

“We are also going to be launching a review of our existing procurement programs to ensure that we are getting value for the money, and to ensure that we are getting the best possible systems in the field,” Scharf said.

President Trump immediately responded,

“And which are currently horrible. That process is ridiculous – what they do, they get the highest price, and it’s not even good-looking equipment. And we’re going to change it to the best. So, this is very, very important,” President Trump said.

Lastly, President Trump signed his executive order titled, “Reforming Foreign Defense Sales.”

Staff Secretary Scharf touted this executive order as streamlining the United States’ ability to sell weapons systems to foreign allies, telling President Trump,

“In the defense space, one persistent issue that we’ve had, in terms of foreign defense sales – we are unable to provide weapons systems in a reliable, effective way to key allies of ours. A key driver of that is inefficiencies and inconsistencies in the process by which we approve foreign military sales.

So, this executive order is going to direct your Department of Defense, Department of State, and other relevant departments and agencies, to rework our system of foreign defense sales to ensure that we can provide equipment creating American jobs and provide revenue to American defense manufacturers, but [also] provide key military equipment to our key allies in a reliable, effective way,” Scharf said.

President Trump aptly responded,

“Our budget is just about approved, and it’s a big budget. We want to spend the money properly, and get the best equipment in the world.

“We rebuilt our military entirely during my first term, but we have to fix it up a little bit [more], and that’s what we are going to do. We are going to do a good job of it, too,” President Trump said.

The Gateway Pundit reported that President Trump has proposed a nearly $1 trillion defense budget to bolster national security.

If this budget passes, President Trump has certainly proven that the funds will be allocated toward modern, actionable military systems.
