President Trump dropped his controversial pick for Surgeon General today and nominated one far more palatable to MAGA Nation.

As TGP readers know, Trump’s previous nominee for Surgeon General, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, sparked a significant controversy among conservatives due to her previous public endorsements of COVID-19 vaccinations and mask mandates. Critics highlighted Nesheiwat’s comments during the pandemic, where she strongly endorsed COVID-19 vaccines, masking protocols, and even praised social media censorship of vaccine skeptics.

She even championed booster shots and backed policies like double-masking and vaccinating children, citing studies and data from the CDC.

Worse, Nesheiwat was linked in a tragic accident at the age of 13 that resulted in her father’s death. At just 13 years old, Nesheiwat accidentally shot and killed her father in their Orlando home, according to a report by the far-left New York Times.

The 1990 incident, described in a police report, was ruled an accidental shooting. According to the report, the young Nesheiwat was searching for scissors in her father’s bedroom when she accidentally tipped over a fishing tackle box, causing a loaded .38-caliber handgun to discharge.

The bullet struck her sleeping father, Ziad “Ben” Nesheiwat, in the head, and he died the next day.

Perhaps in light of her controversial past, Trump announced that he would no longer nominate Nesheiwat. Instead, he is picking Dr. Casey Means as the next Surgeon General, citing her “impeccable MAHA credentials.”

Trump also revealed that Nesheiwat would work in another capacity at HHS with Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr..

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Casey Means, will be nominated as our next Surgeon General of the United States of America,” Trump wrote. “Casey has impeccable “MAHA” credentials, and will work closely with our wonderful Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda in order to reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic, and ensure Great Health, in the future, for ALL Americans.”

“Her academic achievements, together with her life’s work, are absolutely outstanding,” Trump added. “Dr. Casey Means has the potential to be one of the finest Surgeon Generals in United States History. Congratulations to Casey!”

Secretary Kennedy looks forward to working with Dr. Janette Nesheiwat in another capacity at HHS. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The Federal Reserve announced that they will make no change to the interest rate benchmark Wednesday, leaving interest rates in the range of 4.25 percent to 4.5 percent. Chairman Jerome Powell pointed to a solid job market and inflation still above the central bank’s 2 percent target rate as part of the rationale for the decision.

Powell also acknowledged the potential impact of Donald Trump’s tariff plan on the economy, noting that “the effects on the economy remain highly uncertain,” but could result in higher inflation and unemployment. The relative good health of the economy gives the Federal Reserve the leeway to wait and evaluate changes as they happen, the chairman said.

The next meeting of the Federal Reserve Board will be held in June.

On Tuesday, Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld said that President Donald Trump’s historic win showed voters how the Democrats use virtue signaling to “exploit people.”

The panel on “The Five” discussed how Kamala Harris’ campaign increasingly pandered to specific, radical voting blocs at the expense of key voting blocs, such as Hispanics and Black men, to Republicans.

Gutfeld noted that, regardless of whether Democrats win seats in the future, the real question is whether voters “believe anything” Democrats say.

“I mean you (Democrats) should do well in the midterms, usually the outside party does. It’s a question of whether anybody’s going to believe anything you say, because everything you said the last four years was a lie. Not you (referencing Jessica Tarlov) I’m just talking about primarily Joe Biden.”

“Look, what is the usual answer, Jesse, when someone says, ‘Why don’t they like me?’ Usually the answer is, ‘Well, you’re a selfish prick.’ And the answer is, ‘I’m not selfish. I do all sorts of things. I help people.’”

“It’s like, no, no, no, no, no. That’s exactly my point. You do those things as a virtue signal to give you permission to exploit people,” Gutfeld continued.

“People are suddenly realizing that’s what the Democratic Party was. All the virtues that they expressed were designed for their primary engine, which is the self.”

“‘How can I elevate my status? How could I end up at the Met Gala?’ It’s all about that. I mentioned this word before,” he noted. “It’s an orientation problem.”

“The Democratic Party is a party that doesn’t look up or out. It looks around, and it looks inward. They look around to see what others have, and that’s status seeking, and it drives envy. Identity politics plays into that.”

“They look inward and, again, they see everything through the hierarchy of identity. Then suddenly everything becomes transactional. ‘What do I get out of this? Why do they get this?’”

“Trump smashed that thing to bits. He showed that a Black plumber and a White cop can vote for Trump, and that destroys the whole framework. By focusing on what you do, as opposed to who you are, he shows that ideas unify in a more healthy and authentic fashion than pigment or chromosomes. It’s all about ideas.”

He then talked about the evolving demographics of the Republican party noting, “The party is more diverse than any Disney movie.”

“But it is kind of incredible to see that change. Especially the younger people. The younger people. It’s all because they’ve lost the sunk cost of identity, that this bag of rocks that they carry around wherever they go, they’re free to bond over ideas. And I would say to the Democrats, you’ve got to take a page out of the Republican playbook.”

One reporter asked President Trump about Senator Tillis’ decision to come out against Ed Martin.

Tuesday RINO Senator Thom Tillis, who voted to confirm Biden’s radical pick for Attorney General Merrick Garland, told reporters that he opposes the nomination of Ed Martin for DC US Attorney.

Tillis made a shocking admission to reporters. He actually said he would support Ed Martin for any district except where January 6 happened.

In other words, Tillis admitted Ed Martin is qualified to be a US Attorney, but he’s potentially derailing Martin’s nomination for political reasons.

“I have no tolerance for anybody who entered the building on January the 6th, and that’s probably where most of the friction was,” Tillis said.

The North Carolina Senator said people who merely entered the US Capitol on January 6 (after police opened the doors and let them in) should serve up to 3 years behind bars.

Tillis admitted Ed Martin was doing a great job with his investigation into Biden US Attorney Matthew Graves’ unlawful use of the 1512(c)(2) obstruction charge to lock up January 6 defendants.

However, he will be opposing Ed Martin’s nomination for political reasons.

“If Mr. Martin were being put forth as a US Attorney for any district except the district where January 6 happened, the protest happened, I’d probably support him, but not in this district,” Tillis said in a shocking admission to CNN’s Manu Raju.

“Well, it’s disappointing because I know Ed and he’s very talented. Crime is down in Washington, DC – Street crime. Violent crime by 25% and people have seen they’ve noticed a big difference, so I didn’t know that but if he – if they vote against him, I feel very badly about it. Only in the sense that, in this short period of time that he’s been there, crime is down 25% in Washington, DC. But that’s really up to the Senators. If if they feel that way, they have to vote the way they vote, they have to follow their heart and they have to follow their mind,” Trump said.

A new Iran nuclear deal “would reintegrate Iran into the global economy,” Vice President J.D. Vance said Wednesday. “That would be really good for the Iranian people but would result in the complete cessation of any chance they could get a nuclear weapon.”

Vance said the White House was fine with Iran maintaining civilian nuclear energy, but he criticized the Obama-era Iran nuclear deal for not having a strong enough enforcement and inspections regime.

The remarks came during a discussion at the Munich Leaders Conference in Washington, where the vice president discussed the Trump administration’s foreign policy. 

Vance also addressed American efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine War. “The Russians are asking for a certain set of requirements, a certain set of concessions in order to end the conflict,” Vance said. “We think they’re asking for too much.” He argued that both the Ukrainians and the Russians have deep grievances that are preventing them from coming to an agreement that would be in the interests of both sides. 

Still, Vance expressed some optimism that a settlement is possible. “We think that if cool heads prevail here, we can bring this thing to a durable peace that will be economically beneficial for both Ukrainians and the Russians and most importantly… will [stop] the destruction of human lives.”

Other topics the vice president addressed include America’s relationship with Europe, NATO-U.S. burden sharing, and China.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice have announced that 115 children have been rescued and 205 alleged pedophile sex predators have been arrested as part of “Operation Restore Justice.”

The arrests were announced in press releases on Wednesday morning.

All 55 FBI field offices were involved in the nationwide five-day operation.

The FBI said in a statement, “The Federal Bureau of Investigation has concluded a national surge of resources to arrest accused child sex abuse offenders and combat child exploitation. In a coordinated effort by all 55 FBI field offices called Operation Restore Justice, 205 people were arrested nationwide, and 115 children were rescued across the country during the five-day surge of resources deployed for Operation Restore Justice.”

FBI Director Kash Patel said the operation’s success proves “no predator is out of reach and no child will be forgotten.”

“Every child deserves to grow up free from fear and exploitation, and the FBI will continue to be relentless in our pursuit of those who exploit the most vulnerable among us,” said Patel. “Operation Restore Justice proves that no predator is out of reach and no child will be forgotten. By leveraging the strength of all our field offices and our federal, state and local partners, we’re sending a clear message: there is no place to hide for those who prey on children.”

The DOJ added, “Those arrested are alleged to have committed various crimes including the production, distribution, and possession of child sexual abuse material, online enticement and transportation of minors, and child sex trafficking. In Minneapolis, for example, a state trooper and Army Reservist was arrested for allegedly producing child sexual abuse material while wearing his uniforms. In Norfolk, VA, an illegal alien from Mexico is accused of transporting a minor across state lines for sex. In Washington, D.C., a former Metropolitan Police Department Police Officer was arrested for allegedly trafficking minor victims.”

In one example, a California man was arrested after his victim bravely told FBI agents about the abuse after an online safety presentation at their school near Albany, NY.

In another case, Justin Enright, 51, of Millsboro, Delaware, a felon convicted on federal child sexual abuse charges, was arrested after violating the terms of his probation, including intent to view child pornography. Joel Thomas Biermann, 46, of University Park, Maryland, was indicted for two counts of producing child sexual abuse material, one count of distributing child sexual abuse material, and one count of possessing child sexual abuse material. Donald Robert Wilt Edwards, Sr., 29, of West Virginia, was indicted for sexually exploiting a minor, as well as three counts of distribution of child sexual abuse material, and one count of possession of child pornography.

“The Department of Justice will never stop fighting to protect victims — especially child victims — and we will not rest until we hunt down, arrest, and prosecute every child predator who preys on the most vulnerable among us,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “I am grateful to the FBI and their state and local partners for their incredible work in Operation Restore Justice and have directed my prosecutors not to negotiate.”

The FBI’s press release explained:

This initiative, taking place between April 28th and May 2nd, was a joint effort with federal, state, and local partners to coincide with the end of Child Abuse Prevention Month and highlight the FBI’s ongoing efforts to confront these crimes. Investigating child sex abuse is an ongoing, high-priority mission of the FBI. The FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children (VCAC) program coordinates and bolsters efforts to counter all threats of abuse and exploitation of children that fall under FBI jurisdiction—including the production, sharing, and possession of child sexual abuse material; domestical or international travel to engage sexually with children; and the extortion of children to provide sexually explicit material of themselves. VCAC also helps to identify, locate, and recover child victims and strengthen partnerships that are critical to prevent abuse and capture offenders.

The FBI investigates cases through Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Forces (CEHTTFs) located in each field office, allowing the FBI to combine resources with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The FBI also partners with the nonprofit National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which receives and shares tips about possible child sexual exploitation received through its 24-hour hotline at 1-800-THE-LOST and on missingkids.org.

113 Cardinals will be sequestered until a new Pope is chosen.

UPDATE: Black smoke rose from the Sistine Chapel chimney just after 8pm in Rome(3pm ET), indicating that a new Pope has not been chosen in the first vote by the Cardinal Electors.

This is not surprising, since it’s been over 500 years since a Pope was chosen in the very first vote.

Sixteen days after the late Pope Francis passed, after a season of feverish articulating and lobbying, 113 Catholic Cardinals went in a procession into the Vatican’s famed Sistine Chapel, and the door was closed to the world.

There, under the immortal Michelangelo frescoes in the ceiling, the Cardinals will deliberate and vote on who is to be the next Pope.

The eyes of the world will be glued to the chimney above the chapel, where black will signal that no choice has been made, but the awaited white smoke will at some point herald to the world ‘habemus papam’ (We have a Pope).

“The papal conclave, the secretive election process to elect the next leader of the Roman Catholic Church, commences on Wednesday, bringing cardinals from all over the world to select the 267th pope.

Since the death of Pope Francis on April 21, a total of 220 cardinals — the church’s highest-ranking clergy — have gathered in Rome to mourn the loss of the former pontiff and begin the secret conclave. Overall, 133 cardinals will be voting during the conclave, the most electors ever, with 108 of them appointed by Pope Francis.”

“[…] All of the cardinal electors will take an oath of secrecy before beginning to vote twice daily, two times in the morning and two times in the evening. “If no pope is elected after 33 or 34 votes — generally about 13 days — then a new rule introduced by Pope Benedict XVI decrees the two leading candidates as determined by previous ballots will engage in a runoff vote. If the candidates are members of the conclave, they cannot vote in the runoff but are present for it.”

A Pittsburgh man was sentenced to life in prison without parole for executing an Uber driver who was seen begging for her life in a disturbing dashcam video.

Calvin Crew, 25, fatally shot 38-year-old Christina Spicuzza in 2022 after she picked him up while driving for Uber.

According to CBS News, Spicuzza’s family requested that Crew not be given the death penalty.

Spicuzza reportedly picked up Crew at 9 pm in February 2022. According to the disturbing dashcam footage released by police, Crew was wearing a hoodie and a face mask when he got into the back seat of the Uber.

Several minutes into the Uber ride, Crew pulled out a handgun and placed it on the back of Spicuzza’s head.

“You’ve got to be joking,” Spicuzza said to Crew as she tried to pull the gun away.

“Come on, I have a family,” she insisted. “I’m begging you. I have four kids.”

“I got a family, too,” Crew said.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Crew received a text from his girlfriend that read: “[I’m] not going to jail if we get caught”

Spicuzza’s body was found two days later with a single gunshot wound to her head.

Crew’s defense attorneys argued that their client “lived a childhood surrounded by violence and neglect.”

The defense also claimed Crew struggled in life because he has an 84 IQ.

After Crew was sentenced to life in prison without parole, the defense attorneys suggested that he will appeal his conviction.

Calvin Crew, the man convicted of killing Christina Spicuzza, a Pittsburgh-area Uber driver in 2022, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Crew was not in the courtroom at his own request. The defense attorney spoke on his behalf, but the judge indicated in a private message that he maintains his innocence and plans to appeal the sentence.

Presiding Judge EJ Borkowski granted his wish, but it didn’t change the outcome.

Spicuzza’s mother, as well as other family members, gave victim impact statements at the sentencing.

Crew’s defense attorney addressed the court on his behalf, saying that the 25-year-old “lived a childhood surrounded by violence and neglect.”

Crew’s counsel also told Judge Borkowski that Crew fell through society’s cracks and was intellectually and socially challenged with an IQ of 84.

On Wednesday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the arrest of six individuals, including public officials in Frio County, for participating in an illegal vote harvesting scheme.

The individuals were arrested on Friday included the Frio County Judge Rochelle Lozano Camacho.

The Texas Attorney General’s website reported:

Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the indictments and arrests of six people, including several public officials, for election crimes related to a vote harvesting scheme in Frio County.

“The people of Texas deserve fair and honest elections, not backroom deals and political insiders rigging the system. Elected officials who think they can cheat to stay in power will be held accountable. No one is above the law,” said Attorney General Paxton. “My office will continue to work with Frio County District Attorney Audrey Louis to protect the integrity of our elections.”

In August 2024, Attorney General Paxton’s Criminal Investigation Division executed multiple search warrants in Frio, Atascosa, and Bexar Counties as part of a multi-year election integrity investigation into credible allegations of vote harvesting. On May 1, 2025, Frio County District Attorney Audrey Louis and the Election Integrity Unit of the Office of the Attorney General presented a criminal vote harvesting case to a grand jury in Frio County. The grand jury returned true bills for the following indictments:

Frio County Judge, Rochelle Camacho: 3 counts of Vote Harvesting
Former Frio County Elections Administrator, Carlos Segura: 1 count of Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence
Pearsall City Council, Ramiro Trevino: 1 count of Vote Harvesting
Pearsall City Council, Racheal Garza: 1 count of Vote Harvesting
Pearsall ISD Trustee, Adriann Ramirez: 3 counts of Vote Harvesting
Alleged Frio County Vote Harvester, Rosa Rodriguez: 2 counts of Vote Harvesting

Each suspect was arrested on May 2, 2025, with the exception of Rochelle Camacho, who will be processed at a later date.
