A potentially momentous day is expected tomorrow, and while a lot of uncertainty involves the Istanbul peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine – and potentially mediated by the United States – so far, the event hasn’t been cancelled, and all three nations are gearing up to it.

Both US President Donald J. Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin are not confirmed presences to the negotiations.

Secretary Rubio will be present.

Trump has said more than once that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will be there, ‘among others’. It’s been reported that both Envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg would travel to Istanbul.

Reuters reported:

“U.S. officials are hoping Russia will agree to a comprehensive 30-day land, air, sea and critical infrastructure ceasefire, a senior U.S. official said, adding that Kyiv has already agreed to abide by such a deal.”

Envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellog are said to be going to Istanbul.

Kellogg: “We’re hoping President Putin shows up as well, and then President Trump will be there. This could be an absolutely incredible meeting. We can get peace, I really believe, pretty fast if all three leaders sit down and talk.”

“Trump had said on Monday he would fly to Istanbul for the meeting if necessary. He is in the Middle East region this week for meetings with officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.”

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

BBC reported:

“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will travel to Turkey’s capital Ankara to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and will be available for direct talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Istanbul on Thursday.

‘We will do everything to ensure that this meeting takes place,” he told reporters in a hastily-arranged briefing in Kiev’.”

When Putin proposed direct talks in Turkey without pre-conditions, Zelensky decided to one-up him and go in person, accusing Putin of ‘being scared’ to meet him.

“US President Donald Trump, who is on a visit to the Gulf, has hinted that he could fly to Istanbul himself ‘if I think things can happen’.”

Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and top aide Yuri Ushakov.

In a different Reuters report, “U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin were still “maybes” for what could be the first direct peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv in years after the Kremlin on Wednesday held off disclosing who would represent Russia.”

“Unconfirmed Russian and U.S. media reports have said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s foreign policy aide, will be in Istanbul and ready to meet their Ukrainian counterparts.

Asked by reporters in a daily briefing on Wednesday if the Kremlin could reveal the make-up of the Russian delegation, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: ‘We will do that when we get an instruction to do so from the president’.”

UPDATE: Russian sources say that Vladimir Medinsky will head the Russian delegation.

RT reported:

“Putin CONFIRMS delegation for Istanbul talks with Ukraine. Vladimir Medinsky’s leading the team.

He’d been chief negotiator back in 2022, before West shot down those talks.”

Sputkin reported:

“Vladimir Putin approves the lineup of the Russian delegation for the Istanbul talks

President Putin’s aide, Vladimir Medinsky, will lead the Russian delegation in talks with Ukraine, just as he did in 2022. The Russian delegation to the Istanbul negotiations will include Mikhail Galuzin (Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs), Igor Kostyukov (Head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces), and Alexander Fomin (Deputy Minister of Defense).“

RFK Jr. just walked into Congress and took down his biggest critics in one fell swoop.

This was a masterclass.

A dentist congressman came out swinging on fluoride. By the time Kennedy finished, he realized he picked the wrong fight.

Then, a Democrat tried to accuse Kennedy of politicizing children’s health—but he got emotional, broke through the noise, and completely flipped the script on her.

If you watch one thing today, make it this. Kennedy just took the MAHA agenda to the next level.

Right out of the gate in his first major congressional hearing as HHS Secretary, Kennedy laid out a sweeping plan to reshape HHS from the ground up.

Here’s what’s on deck:

Ending “gain-of-function experiments and research based upon radical gender ideology”
A full-scale crackdown on fentanyl and drug addiction
$94 billion toward better food, fitness, and childcare
FDA action to remove toxic chemicals from the food supply
Slashing wasteful NIH projects
Merging mental health and addiction programs for faster, better care
Giving local leaders more power to fix problems in their own communities
A major upgrade to Head Start, the early education program for low-income children

“We intend to make the Trump HHS not just the most effective, but also the most compassionate in U.S. history,” Kennedy said.

 

Then came a tense back-and-forth with Democrat Rep. Rosa DeLauro, who tried to pin him down on tobacco prevention funding. Kennedy didn’t just answer—he flipped the entire narrative.

DeLauro asked, “Do you commit to following the law, again, fully obligating those funds so that we can help adults who want to quit using tobacco and prevent teens from becoming addicted?”

Kennedy fired back: “Allow me to answer that by pointing out the absolute cataclysmic disorganization of this agency. Under your oversight, for 40 years, we had nine separate offices of Women’s Health.”

And he didn’t stop there.

“When we consolidate them, the Democrats say we’re eliminating them. We’re not. We’re still appropriating the 3.7 billion, but we’re not keeping all nine. We had eight separate offices for minority health. We eliminated one. We had 27 HIV offices.”

DeLauro tried to interrupt—“Okay, let me just. I’m going to—”

But Kennedy kept rolling: “We had 59 behavioral health programs.”

At that point, DeLauro backed off: “I’m well over time.”

 

One of the most jaw-dropping moments came when Rep. Mike Simpson, a dentist, tried to challenge Kennedy on fluoride—and instantly regretted it.

“We better put a lot more money into dental education because we’re going to need a whole lot more dentists [if we ban fluoride],” Simpson said.

The rebuttal was too easy for Kennedy.

“We now know that virtually all the benefit [from fluoride] is from topical, and we can get that through mouthwashes. We can get through fluoridated toothpastes.”

Then came the line that hit hard:

“The National Toxicity Program issued a report in August, a meta review of all the science that now exists on fluoride, and showed a direct inverse correlation between fluoride exposure dose and lower IQ.”

“Which is an issue that we all have to be concerned with. We want high IQ kids right now,” Kennedy added.

 

Later, Rep. Steny Hoyer demanded answers on HHS budget cuts—but Kennedy was ready with numbers and a blunt dose of reality.

“We’re spending $2 trillion a year that we don’t have!”

He followed up: “When you’re spending $2 trillion more than you have, you have to make cuts.”

Hoyer pressed again. Kennedy stayed firm.

“The cuts that were done were cuts that were to duplication, to redundancy, to streamlining,” he said. “We increased our workforce 70% in four years. So we were going back to the 2019 levels.”

 

Then came a moment of visible deflation from Rep. Mark Pocan, who tried—repeatedly—to get Kennedy to endorse vaccines.

“If you had a child today, would you vaccinate that child for measles?” Pocan asked.

Kennedy didn’t bite.

“What I would say is my opinions about vaccines are irrelevant,” he said. “I think what we’re going to try to do is to lay out the pros and cons, the risks and benefits accurately as we understand them.”

Pocan pressed again: “Can you talk about chickenpox?”

Kennedy exposed a reality Pocan didn’t want to hear:

“Again, I don’t want to give advice. I can tell you in Europe, they don’t use the chickenpox vaccine specifically because the preclinical trial shows that when you inoculate the population for chickenpox, you get shingles in older people, which is more dangerous.”

Desperate for something, Pocan asked, “Polio?”

“Again, I don’t want to be giving advice,” Kennedy replied.

Pocan backed off with a clear look of disappointment: “That’s fair. No, that’s fair. Like I said, I was not doing it as a gotcha…”

 

One of the most shocking revelations came when Kennedy pointed to corruption inside NIH as the reason we still don’t have a cure for Alzheimer’s.

“For 20 years, because of utter corruption and fraud, we were directing Alzheimer’s research to one hypothesis, and any other hypothesis was shut down,” he said.

“We should have the cure for Alzheimer’s today. We don’t have it PURELY because of corruption at NIH. And we are going to have it quickly.”

 

Rep. Lois Frankel attacked Kennedy’s use of HHS funds, characterizing it as Elon Musk randomly plugging numbers into a computer to make decisions.

Kennedy fired back, taking offense at that false narrative.

“Everything that you said was essentially dishonest,” he told her.

 

Later, Kennedy clashed with Rep. DeLauro once more. This time, he let loose.

“Look at our children, they’re the sickest children in the world,” he said passionately.

Kennedy delivered a direct blow to DeLauro, noting he succeeded where she failed.

“Congresswoman DeLauro, you say that you’ve worked for 20 years on getting food dye out. Then give me credit!” he exclaimed. “I got it out in 100 days.”

He then closed with a call to unity:

“So, let’s work together and do something that we all believe in, which is have healthy kids in our country for God’s sake. There’s no such thing as Republican children or Democratic children. There’s just kids, and we should all be concerned with them.”

The progressive Democrat-controlled county board of Arlington, Virginia, located just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., unanimously voted on Tuesday to ban police from informing ICE and other federal government immigration authorities about arrests of illegal alien Terrorists, gang members, violent felons and human traffickers, revoking previously granted authority given to “maintain community safety.”

The five board members, Chair Takis P. Karantonis, Vice Chair Matt de Ferranti, Maureen Coffey, Susan Cunningham and Julius D. “JD” Spain, Sr., all voted to strike Section 7 of “Arlington’s Commitment to Strengthening Trust with Our Immigrant Communities“, adopted in 2022 and updated in November 2024 in response to President Trump’s reelection.

Like their fellow Democrats in Congress across the Potomac and across the country, the board has chosen to go in hard in support of illegal alien terrorists and gang members at the expense of the lives and safety of American citizens and legal immigrants.

Section 7 detailed instances when Arlington police could contact ICE to report illegal aliens:

ACPD may initiate contact with federal immigration authorities only under the following circumstances, as set forth in Arlington County Police Directive Manual 523.04, after receiving the approval of either the on-duty Watch Commander or any supervisor with the rank of Lieutenant or above:
(a) An undocumented immigrant who
(i) Has been identified as a gang member and is wanted or arrested for a violent felony or a criminal street gang offense; or
(ii)an undocumented immigrant who is arrested for a felony offense or is a confirmed gang member, where circumstances indicate notification to federal immigration authorities is prudent to maintain community safety. Such circumstances must be based on specific, articulable facts that clearly establish a threat to the community. Determination of a person being identified as a gang member will be in accordance with the criteria set forth in the Code of Virginia § 52-8.6 and § 18.2-46.1. The approving supervisor as defined in 7. shall ensure the Gang Unit is consulted before making notification to federal immigration authorities under this subsection.
(b)An undocumented immigrant who is arrested for a terrorism or human trafficking offense.

Arlington Now reported in April that police contacts with ICE were up for the year since President Trump took office (excerpt):

As of last week, the Arlington County Police Department had contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement 17 times since the start of the year. This is ACPD’s highest rate of voluntary cooperation with the federal agency since the county began publishing these numbers in 2022, according to data provided to ARLnow.

The agency initiated contact with ICE 18 times in all of 2024, seven times in 2023 and four times in 2022…

…Since that time, however, the County Board has quietly taken some steps to support Arlington’s immigrant communities and thwart immigration officers. At a meeting days after Trump took office, for instance, Board members allocated $250,000 in funds that have since made their way to two organizations providing legal support for undocumented Arlington residents.

At a meeting earlier this month, Karantonis said the Board “is currently reviewing” the trust policy and plans to share more details soon.

“Our review is motivated by significant shifts in national immigration enforcement policies that mark a departure from the supremacy of the rule of law, the principles of due process and respect for every person’s constitutional rights,” he said. “We have heard ongoing and growing concerns from our residents in this room and across our entire community.”

WTOP-FM reported on comments by the board on passage of the vote to protect illegal alien terrorists and gang members (excerpt):

“What the removal of Section 7 actually means is that we are not going to allow anymore that our law enforcement proactively contacts the federal government immigration authorities on any issue,” Board Chair Takis Karantonis said…

…“In recent weeks and recent months, we have seen a significant decrease of trust, especially for our immigrant community, to contact local law enforcement when it was really necessary,” Karantonis said. “That means we have seen a decrease in safety in our own community.”

Board member Maureen Coffey, meanwhile, criticized the national political landscape, explaining that “sending people to foreign prisons and claiming we have no way to get them back is not normal. Stating that due process isn’t required for immigration proceedings is not normal.”

“Our responsibility is public safety, and it does not keep our community safe to have people afraid to call 911 when they have an emergency,” Coffey said. “It does not keep our community safe to have people scared to ask Human Services for help that their family is entitled to.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Wednesday was asked about the Democrats’ cover-up of Biden’s mental acuity on the campaign trail, and she dodged the question with a word-salad answer about the risks of changing the nominee so close to election day.

Asked by CNN’s Manu Raju whether the Democrats will be straightforward about his condition, AOC went on a tirade about the unprecedented nature of installing a new nominee, but still did not condemn the move or her party.

“Harris ran an excellent campaign, but it was 90-or-so days,” she said. “I think it’s very challenging for the American people to assess a new nominee 90 days out from the election.”

She was then asked if the Democrats would face blowback for the 2024 election coup, and her answer really didn’t make sense.

Raju: Last year, you were defending Joe Biden, saying he should not drop out of the race, and then all these reports now about his mental accuity at the time. Will Democrats be straightforward about his condition at the time, last lear?

AOC: Well, listen, I think for me and for many of us at this time, there was this sudden discussion about, after a full primary process, about changing the nominee like 90 days before a presidential election. And so, in my assessment, a move that was that unprecedented, having a brand new nominee 90 days before a presidential election, against a nominee that had been running for four years straight, was a major risk.

And so, like I think, regardless of what the situation was, it was such an unprecedented move that, you know, I think everyone, in so much uncertainty, everyone had their own opinions on the matter. And we saw, you know, what happened, Vice President Harris ran an excellent campaign, but it was 90-or-so days, and I think it was very, very hard for– I think it’s very challenging for the American people to assess a new nominee 90 days out from the election.

Raju: Do you think there will be blowback for the Democrats for the way that they handled Joe Biden?

AOC: I mean, I think at the end of the day, it’s up to every nominee and every candidate to make those decisions for themselves. He became the Democratic nominee through the electorate and through voters.

This comes as Biden cover-up conspirator and CNN correspondent Jake Tapper prepeares to release a new book with Axios’ Alex Thompson where individuals close to the Biden and Harris 2024 debacle reveal what was actually going on behind the scenes.

President Trump is absolutely delivering for Americans during his overseas trip to Qatar, a small country that is a critical partner in the Middle East, which appreciates his presence. Unsurprisingly, this is triggering leftist haters who can only try to troll in response.

As TGP readers know, Trump is visiting Qatar as part of his first overseas trip as President. This comes as Trump has been under fire from Democrats and the corporate media for accepting </>a Boeing 747 gifted from the royal family of Qatar.

While in the oil-rich nation, Trump found a welcome respite from all the drama back home, allowing him to entirely focus on making America rich again.

He was given a hero’s welcome as he arrived in the country. First, the Qataris gave Trump the first fighter jet welcome from a foreign nation since Ronald Reagan.

The jet is actually a gift to the Department of Defense and earlier this week Trump called Qatar’s offer a great gesture.

“I think it’s a great gesture from Qatar. Appreciate it very much. I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer. I mean, I could be a stupid person and say, No, we don’t want a free, very expensive airplane. But it was, I thought it was a great gesture,” Trump said.

Hillary Clinton lashed out at President Trump and suggested he is engaging in a quid pro quo transaction.

Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation took MILLIONS of dollars from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and other Middle Eastern countries in exchange for access to the US government.

Clinton engaged in a massive influence-peddling scheme while she was the head of the Department of State and used a private server to evade FOIA.

In fact, Clinton Foundation whistleblowers, Lawrence Doyle of DM Income Advisors and John Moynihan of JFM Associates, argued that according to their research, the Clinton Foundation was operating outside of its bounds as a 501c3 non-profit organization and instead operated exactly like the global fund in Geneva, Switzerland, by brokering money and pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Moynihan also stated that 60% of the donations going to the Clinton Foundation were used for “administration fees” which is a stark difference from the industry norm of 10-15% for admin fees.

And who could forget the Uranium One scandal involving the Clinton Foundation?

Then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton influenced the Obama Admin’s decision on the purchase of Uranium One.

Prior to the Obama Administration approving the very controversial deal in 2010 giving Russia 20% of America’s Uranium, the FBI had evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were involved in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering in order to benefit Vladimir Putin.

Nine shareholders in Uranium One just happened to provide more than $145 million in donations to the Clinton Foundation in the run-up to State Department approval.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s testimony before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee was interrupted today by protesters voicing opposition to his department’s recent policy changes.

As Kennedy began his opening remarks this afternoon, unhinged leftist protesters shouted slogans critical of his leadership, prompting Capitol Police to intervene and remove the demonstrators from the hearing room.

The Health Secretary visibly startled and jumped from his chair as protesters erupted in shouting, before Capitol Police swiftly intervened and removed them, according to The Guardian.

Health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr described the downsizing of his department as necessary cost-cutting measures as he defended his spending plans under Donald Trump’s budget proposal.

The plans include an $18bn cut to National Institutes of Health funding and $3.6bn from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Kennedy, appearing before the House appropriations committee this morning, argued the proposed cuts would save taxpayers $1.8bn per year and make the department more efficient. He said in his opening statement:

Our reductions have focused on aligning HHS staffing levels to reflect the size of HHS prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw around a 15% increase in the number of employees.

Asked about Elon Musk’s involvement in the cuts and firings at his department, Kennedy said:

It was a BRUTAL smackdown on Capitol Hill today when Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. torched Democrat Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA) over the left’s tired lies about “Medicaid cuts.”

The exchange happened during a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions hearing at 1:30 p.m. ET, where RFK Jr. testified on the White House’s budget request under the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” — a $500 million package to complete his signature MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) objectives.

But when Rep. Harder tried to score cheap political points by accusing the administration of slashing Medicaid and abandoning the poor, RFK Jr. unleashed the facts.

Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA):
About half of my district is on Medicaid. The recent budget that is being discussed in the House right now would leave 50,000 people in my community without health insurance. Secretary Kennedy, my question for you is: why do you think that a community like mine doesn’t deserve access to the same basic health care provided by Medicaid that you benefited from?

RFK Jr.:
I do believe that. I do believe in that. That is the design of the Medicaid program.

Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA):
Do you disagree with the cuts that are being proposed for Medicaid right now?

RFK Jr.:
Oh, the cuts to— I don’t know if you understand this or whether you’re just mouthing the Democratic talking points. The cuts to Medicaid are for fraud, waste, and abuse. I’ll tell you what that means. It means that because of Doge, we were able to determine— and it’s about 8 million people who would be affected— that there are a million people who are claiming Medicaid from multiple states. That’s illegal. It’s theft. You’re not allowed to do that. There are another million people who are collecting both under Obamacare and Medicaid.

Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA):
Mr. Secretary, that has nothing to do with the budget that’s actually being proposed in the House.

RFK Jr.:
These are the only cuts that are being made. These are the only cuts that are being made to Medicaid.

Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA):
That’s not true.

RFK Jr.:
Yes, it is. There are another million illegal aliens. We announced a rule yesterday: we’re not going to pay illegal aliens anymore. And guess what Gavin Newsom did this morning? He said, “We’re going to take all the illegal aliens off the California Medicaid rolls because the feds aren’t paying for them anymore.” So much for compassion.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is targeting climate technology that automatically turns off a car’s engine when it is stopped at red lights to save fuel, a feature agency administrator Lee Zeldin said every driver “hates.”

Advocates for the technology support it as a climate-friendly initiative, while critics find it annoying and question whether it can wear down the car’s battery or engine more quickly.

Cars generally have a button allowing drivers to disable the feature.

The EPA does not require stop-start technology, but automakers that adopt it are given extra fuel economy credits.

The technology was included in 65% of vehicles in 2023, a jump from 45% in 2021, 9% in 2016 and 1% in 2012, according to the Battery Council International.

The feature can improve fuel economy by between 4% and 5%, previous EPA estimates showed. It also eliminated nearly 10 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year as of 2023, the BCI stated.
