Judicial Watch: Pam Bondi’s DOJ Tells Court It’s “Still Reviewing” Epstein Records for Potential Release While Publicly Signaling It’s Game Over

The Department of Justice under Attorney General Pam Bondi has been caught speaking out of both sides of its mouth.

While DOJ insiders quietly tell a federal judge they’re still sifting through Jeffrey Epstein’s sordid records — including potential names of high-profile clients — the very same agency issued a memo declaring no more documents would ever see the light of day.

Judicial Watch, the conservative watchdog group relentlessly pursuing accountability, revealed in a July 7 court filing that the DOJ and FBI claim they are “still reviewing” records in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking documents on Epstein’s network of elites.

These records include names of his clients, communications regarding the infamous client list, and any and all materials housed within the FBI and DOJ’s treasure trove of sealed files.

But just one day prior, a leaked DOJ/FBI memo surfaced, claiming the government has already provided the “maximum information” and has no intention of releasing anything else.

This is a blatant bait-and-switch.

“The Justice Department and FBI are sending out contradictory messages: telling the American people that no more Epstein material will be released, while telling the federal court in our case that the Epstein FOIA review is proceeding,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “We will be relentless in demanding transparency under law.”

The Gateway Pundit previously reported During an interview with Steve Bannon on War Room, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton unloaded on the Trump Administration for what he described as an outrageous attempt to sweep Jeffrey Epstein’s client list scandal under the rug, suggesting it may be worse than what we’ve seen from the Biden regime.

Fitton, known for his relentless pursuit of government transparency, expressed shock over a recently leaked memo from the DOJ and FBI — one that originated under Trump’s own watch.

The memo, conveniently leaked to Axios, claims there is no incriminating client list, no credible blackmail evidence, and no grounds to investigate uncharged individuals connected to Epstein’s massive sex trafficking operation.

“I read the memo three or four times again this morning. I don’t think even the Biden administration would have written anything like this. I just don’t think they could have thought they could get away with it. And I’ve got to wonder: what is going on at the leadership of the Justice Department and the FBI to allow them to think that statements like the following are acceptable?” Fitton said.

Fitton continued:

“This is a classic. Of course, we’re suing for this stuff, right? And so they say: “The systematic review revealed no incriminating client list.” So there’s a client list, but it’s not incriminating—so therefore, you can’t see it?

There is also no credible evidence that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions.” Well, give us the incredible evidence.

We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.” They uncovered evidence, but it wasn’t enough to predicate an investigation?

You can go line by line and go through this analysis that I’m going through. It may be unfair or overly critical, but in my view, unless you have the records to back up the conclusions you’ve drawn in a case such as this, this isn’t worth much.

According to Fitton, this isn’t just another bureaucratic failure—it’s part of a coordinated campaign to protect the powerful, the perverted, and the politically connected.

Pentagon Invests in Sole Operational Rare Earth Mine in the United States – Becomes Largest Investor

The Department of Defense (DoD) has agreed to buy $400 million worth of preferred stock from MP Materials, the only operational rare earth mine in the United States located just outside Mountain Pass, California.  The investment will help MP Materials build a second magnet manufacturing facility, with construction beginning in 2028.

The investment would make the DoD the largest shareholder with around a 15% stake, eclipsing the previous leaders [James] Litinsky (8.27%) and BlackRock Fund Advisors (8.27%).  Additionally, JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs will provide $1 billion in financing for the second facility.

As part of the deal, the DoD has ensured that “100% of the magnets made at the new facility, called 10x, are purchased by defense and commercial customers for 10 years after the plant is built,” according to NBC News.

Currently, the U.S. imports around 95% of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) it consumes, mainly from China.  In April, China imposed restrictions on seven of the 17 REEs exported to the U.S. in response to President Trump’s reciprocal tariffs.  Those restrictions eased up in July; however, the dependence on China for those materials is likely a motivation behind this investment.

Rare Earth Elements (REEs) are a group of 17 metallic elements that are used for advanced military technologies, as they possess unique magnetic, luminescent, and electrochemical properties.  These are critical components in modern guidance systems, precision-guided munitions, radar, and satellite systems.

For example, the F-35 requires an estimated 900 lbs of REEs for its manufacturing, while a Virginia-class submarine needs more than 9,000 lbs.  According to FairObserver, even with the mining operation of MP Materials, the U.S. is still dependent on China for processing the ore extracted in Mountain Pass.

According to a March 2024 release, the Pentagon’s Manufacturing Capability Expansion and Investment Prioritization (MCEIP) previously invested $45 million into MP Materials prior to this stock purchase.

Per a March 2024 DoD release:

Through the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy, the Manufacturing Capability Expansion and Investment Program directorate has embarked on a five-year rare earth investment strategy to build “mine-to-magnet” domestic capacity at all critical nodes of the rare earth supply chain. Those critical nodes include sourcing, separation, processing, metallization, alloying and magnet manufacturing.

The first of those critical nodes, the sourcing of rare earth elements, means mining rare earth elements out of the ground. Today in the U.S., there is only one rare earth mine currently active and selling to the commercial market.

Separation includes a series of processes that take out extractable rare earth elements from other elements and compounds in the mineral rock. Processing involves concentrating separated rare earth elements and then chemically treating them to produce high-purity rare earth oxides or rare earth salts. The metallization step transforms rare earth salts into rare earth metals. Depending on the application, those metals can be combined with various alloying elements to produce a variety of rare earth alloys.

David vs. Goliath: Burma’s People’s Defense Forces Gain Ground Against Overwhelming Odds

Homemade drones have been crucial for the resistance. Photo courtesy of Antonio Graceffo

Four years after Burma’s military coup, an unlikely revolution is defying the odds. Across the country, loosely organized People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), many of them underfunded, poorly equipped, and lacking formal military training, are steadily seizing ground from a powerful, well-armed army.

The junta’s forces boast modern weaponry, aircraft, and support from both Russia and China, yet it is the grassroots resistance, armed with homemade weapons and driven by determination, now control 70% or more of the country’s territory.

Recent battlefield reports from early July 2025 reveal a conflict where improvisation, local knowledge, and a population galvanized against a common enemy are proving more decisive than advanced weaponry and formal military doctrine.

Despite a 2025 defense budget of $5 billion and access to advanced military hardware, Burma’s military junta is steadily losing control over large parts of the country.

“We had two .22s, two M-16s, and a shotgun when we went into battle the first time,” recalled a PDF commander, describing the early days after the coup. That meager arsenal was meant to arm an entire unit of about 20 fighters.

Over time, the PDFs began capturing weapons from junta forces. They also taught themselves how to manufacture improvised bombs and even drones, gradually leveling the battlefield.

The decentralized resistance movement in Burma has increasingly relied on improvised weapons and persistent, coordinated attacks to strike at the junta’s most fortified positions.

In late June, the “Chindwin Rocket Brothers” PDF used entirely homemade missiles to devastate the junta’s northwest regional command headquarters in Monywa, Sagaing Region, killing 22 personnel, destroying a fuel depot, and setting multiple facilities ablaze.

The strike demonstrated how grassroots engineering can effectively challenge conventional military infrastructure. Just weeks earlier, the same target had been hit by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), a largely Chin ethnic resistance group, using 107 mm shock missiles.

In January, BWM, alongside the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces and the Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force, also led a coordinated rocket attack on junta facilities in Loikaw, Kayah State, during a visit by junta deputy Lt. Gen. Soe Win for Kayah State Day.

The groups fired seven rockets at the State Hall and a military command center to send a clear message: even top junta leaders are not beyond their reach.

No casualties were confirmed in the Loikaw attack, but the pattern of resistance operations underscores an evolving strategy of sustained pressure through local coordination and improvised firepower.

The PDFs have developed sophisticated operational capabilities despite their guerilla origins. In Mandalay Region, PDF forces demonstrated remarkable tactical coordination when they ambushed a 100-strong junta supply convoy.

Beginning with a sniper’s precision shot that eliminated the commander, the attack escalated into a devastating assault using rocket-propelled grenades and concentrated gunfire.

The result: 30 junta troops killed, four captured alive, substantial weapons seized, and two of five transport vehicles appropriated.

Burma resistance. Photo courtesy of Antonio Graceffo

Perhaps most striking is the PDFs’ ability to manufacture effective weapons from limited resources.

They have developed local production capabilities for rockets, missiles, and other ordnance that have proven highly effective against conventional military targets. During the middle years of the coup, homemade drones gave the resistance a tactical edge.

But that advantage has faded as the junta now receives large numbers of advanced drones from Russia and China and employs drone jammers to neutralize resistance UAVs. However, these jammers are useless against missile and rocket attacks, making the PDFs’ primitive, improvised weapons in some cases harder to counter than modern systems.

As resistance forces have gained ground, it has become increasingly difficult for the junta to resupply its troops. In Sagaing Region, where PDFs control most roads, the military has been forced to rely on river transport, a costly and vulnerable alternative.

On June 28, an attempted resupply mission via the Chindwin River turned into a running battle when multiple PDF units positioned along the riverbanks attacked the convoy with grenades and rifle fire.

A similar situation is unfolding in Karen State, where resistance forces have seized territory along the river all the way to the Thai border. Now, only resistance forces and the Thai military can access Karen territory by river. This control has allowed the resistance to resupply more easily and generate income through cross-border trade.

These gains reflect the PDFs’ evolution from disorganized protest groups into capable military forces able to deny terrain and limit junta movement.

In much of the country, junta troops are confined to their bases, major cities, and state capitals, while resistance forces control the rural and mountainous regions. For the military, resupply by air is often the only viable option.

Despite these setbacks, the junta still maintains absolute air superiority, as the resistance has no aircraft.

According to David Eubank, head of Free Burma Rangers, who has operated in the conflict for over 25 years, the junta cannot move by land except in brigade-sized formations, and only under air cover. Without it, they risk being ambushed by resistance fighters.

Despite their decentralized structure, PDF units have shown remarkable coordination with established ethnic armed organizations.

Recently, the Mon State Monsters PDF, operating under Karen National Liberation Army guidance, successfully overran a junta battalion camp in just 45 minutes. These hybrid formations blend conventional tactics with guerrilla warfare, creating a multi-layered challenge for junta forces.

The PDFs and resistance forces sustain heavy losses on an ongoing basis, yet they continue to recruit and operate, demonstrating a deep well of popular support.

Still, despite significant territorial gains, the end of the war remains elusive. In many cases, after sacrificing lives in hard-fought battles to seize ground, the resistance is forced to relinquish that territory, not for lack of will, but due to insufficient ammunition and supplies to hold it.

Most of the junta’s remaining strongholds are in urban areas, where resistance forces are less effective.

These positions are heavily fortified with landmines, drones, aircraft, and artillery, making them extremely difficult to capture.

Unless military support from Russia and China is cut off, the civil war, which began in 1948, could continue for many more years.

CNN Stacks 4 Democrats Against Scott Jennings—and It Backfires Spectacularly

This article originally appeared on vigilantfox.com and was republished with permission.

Scott Jennings didn’t hold back Wednesday when he faced off against an entire CNN panel stacked with Democrats.

It was nothing short of a reckoning.

At one point, a New York Times reporter tried to brand Republicans as the “party of taking things away,” pointing to issues like healthcare. Jennings wasn’t having it.

“My rebuttal to that would be Democrats have become the party of EXPLODING government benefit programs… and then saying, ‘Gee whiz, now people are trying to take things away.’”

If you want to see political debate at its sharpest, check out all four of his takedowns. This was Jennings in peak form.

Scott Jennings didn’t bother with pleasantries before setting off fireworks on CNN’s panel.

He went straight for Senator Thom Tillis, brushing aside Tillis’s criticism of the GOP’s “Big Beautiful Bill” as not just misguided but flat-out politically clueless.

“I think he’s wrong,” Jennings said coolly. “And most—virtually every Republican thinks he’s wrong.”

“There’s nothing politically devastating about trying to bar 1.4 million illegal aliens from getting welfare,” he argued.

“There’s nothing politically devastating about encouraging 4.8 million people who choose not to work to try to work a little in order to get government benefits.”

Jennings also reminded the panel that this wasn’t some brutal cost-cutting plan. The bill included a $50 billion fund for rural hospitals—an issue Tillis himself had flagged as a priority.

“So I don’t agree with his [Tillis’s] political analysis, nor does virtually every other Republican who helped to craft and ultimately pass this bill,” Jennings concluded.

“And I think Republicans ought to lean into these things: work requirements are good. Encouraging work instead of welfare is a good thing, and it will work in campaigns.”

It didn’t take long for the tension to spike on the panel.

Axios reporter Alex Thompson tried to corner Scott Jennings with what he thought was a classic “gotcha” moment, pointing out that the bill’s Medicaid changes wouldn’t even take effect until after the midterms.

“You say, Republicans should lean in, but most of these Medicaid cuts don’t come until after the midterms. Why is that?” Thompson pressed.

“Well, I mean, states run the Medicaid program,” Jennings replied. “I do think it’s reasonable to give them time to prepare to enact changes to the program.”

“But it doesn’t matter, because Democrats are obviously going to go all in on this hysteria campaign,” Jennings warned.

And he offered this pointed advice to his party:

“And I’m telling you as a debating point, if Democrats want to run on giving Medicaid to illegal aliens and people who won’t work or choose not to work, Republicans have a counter-message that will work if they are willing to courageously defend it.”

Congressman Glenn Ivey joined the debate and went after Republicans hard, accusing them of smearing working-class families as lazy freeloaders at a time when many are struggling just to keep the lights on.

“I was going to say, I mean, you’re putting your Republican colleagues of mine in the position of having to declare people to be deadbeats at the time when they are working two jobs, they are doing everything they can to make ends meet,” Ivey said.

“And you guys are going to take the rug out from under them, and they’re not going to be happy. They’re going to be rightly, I think, upset about it.”

Jennings jumped in before Ivey could even finish, shaking his head in disagreement.

“You guys are conflating two populations, and it’s not my conjecture. Just ask the CBO. Everybody likes to cite the CBO, the CBO’s own numbers,” he countered.

That’s when CNN’s Kasie Hunt tried to throw him off with a teasing jab: “Except you, typically.” Jennings added.

“Well, I’m going to cite them because they tend to be popular, at least in here.”

Jennings then laid out the numbers he said proved his point.

“4.8 million people on Medicaid who choose not to work. That’s not my going out and counting. That’s the CBO. 1.4 million illegal aliens.”

He argued Republicans could absolutely sell these distinctions—if they were willing to speak plainly about them.

“So there is a population that chooses not to work that maybe should try a little,” he added. “And the people you cite are not going to lose their benefits.”

But the conversation was just warming up.

New York Times reporter Lulu Garcia-Navarro took her turn challenging the Republican position, arguing their messaging was boxing them in as the “party of taking things away.”

“It is much easier to run on a message of someone took something away from you than it is to say, no, actually, we didn’t take it away. Some certain populations are undeserving, certain populations, you know, aren’t actually there to get it,” she argued.

“I hear your analysis, and it’s a valid debating point,” Jennings acknowledged. But he wasn’t about to let Democrats off the hook.

“My rebuttal to that would be Democrats have become the party of EXPLODING government benefit programs during Covid, vastly expanding Medicaid beyond what it was ever intended to do, and then saying, ‘Gee whiz, now people are trying to take things away.’”

Garcia-Navarro shot back. “Do you think people like healthcare, though? Do you think people like healthcare?” she pressed.

Jennings delivered a masterful reply.

“I think they like healthcare, I don’t think they like the system we live under, which is not a Republican system,” he countered. “It’s Obamacare! Which exploded premiums and has vastly expanded the welfare state.”

By the end of the exchange, Lulu Garcia-Navarro tried to bring the conversation back to a universal value—something just about everyone could agree on: the idea that anyone should have access to medical care.

“But what I’m saying is most people do believe that there should be a basic ability to go to a hospital and get some care,” she said.

“I agree,” Jennings replied, “but I think most people also believe that people should not be able to sit and do nothing and receive government benefits, or be in the country illegally and receive government benefits.”

“An attempt to work is a good thing,” he added.

“And the Republican ethos is encouraging work. The Democratic ethos is encouraging government dependence,” Jennings said.

“That’s the debate!” he said firmly, knowing it was a mic-drop moment.

And just like that, the 4-on-1 debate ended in a unanimous victory for Jennings.

Embattled Ursula von der Leyen Survives Vote of No Confidence in European Parliament, After Hungary’s Viktor Orbán Tells Her It’s ‘Time to Go’

Now, in the EU, the game is it’s Ursula von der Leyen versus Viktor Orbán.

Von der Leyen survived calls to have her ousted – for now.

It’s open war in the European Union, with its powerful but politically wounded Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen (VDL) facing increasingly strong opposition from the emboldened right-wing forces.

And no one encapsulates the opposition to liberal/Globalist VDL like conservative Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who defiantly posted a meme of the German politician saying that it was ‘time to go’.

While VDL did survive today’s (10) no-confidence vote in the European Parliament that was tabled by rightwing MEPs, she comes out weakened by the ordeal, and facing ever-stronger opposition by the patriotic forces in the continent.

Result of today’s vote: 175 for the censure motion, 360 against/ source: social media.

Reuters reported:

“As expected, the motion failed to get the two-thirds majority it needed to pass. Only 175 members of parliament backed the motion, while 360 voted against and 18 abstained.

Romanian nationalist Gheorghe Piperea, the lead sponsor of the motion, had criticized among other things the Commission’s refusal to disclose text messages between von der Leyen and the chief executive of vaccine maker Pfizer (PFE.N), opens new tab during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

VDL survives, but ‘Pfizergate’ will not go away.

“’The decision-making has become opaque and discretionary, and raises fears of abuse and corruption. The cost of obsessive bureaucracy of the European Union such as (tackling) climate change has been a huge one’, Piperea told the parliament on Monday.”

This was the first such motion against a EU Commission president since 2014.

BREAKING: Rogue Judge Defies Supreme Court Ruling on Injunctions, Blocks Trump’s Order Ending Birthright Citizenship for Illegal Aliens

Credit: FOX Sunday Morning Futures screenshot

Another day, another black-robed tyrant attempting to usurp authority from America’s duly elected president.

On Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Laplante announced that he would issue a preliminary injunction against President Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship for illegals and narrow the class covered to children only.

Laplante, who was nominated by George W. Bush, also said he would grant a 7-day stay of order for “court efficiency.”

As The Straits Times reported, Laplante made the ruling after the ACLU and other illegal alien activists begged him to grant class action status to a lawsuit they filed seeking to represent any babies whose citizenship status would be threatened by the implementation of Trump’s directive.

Laplante agreed to certify the plaintiffs as a class representing the babies and said the decision to issue a nationwide injunction was “not a close call.”

“That’s irreparable harm, citizenship alone,” he said. “It is the greatest privilege that exists in the world.”

This ruling came after the U.S. Supreme Court on June 27 restricted the ability of judges to block Trump’s policies using nationwide injunctions.

In a 6–3 decision, the Court sided with the Trump administration, ruling that federal district courts lack the constitutional or statutory authority to issue so-called ‘universal injunctions’ — sweeping orders that block government policies nationwide, often at the request of left-wing advocacy groups.

Under the Supreme Court’s ruling, Trump’s executive order would take effect on July 27.

The ACLU and others filed the suit just hours after the Supreme Court ruling.

According to Trump, the 14th Amendment is being hijacked by the left to give citizenship to ‘anchor babies,’ children of illegal migrants.

Here is what the order states:

“It is the policy of the United States that no department or agency of the United States government shall issue documents recognizing United States citizenship, or accept documents issued by State, local, or other governments or authorities purporting to recognize United States citizenship, to persons: (1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or (2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States was lawful but temporary, and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth.”

Trump goes on to explain in the executive order why the 14th Amendment has always excluded infants born individuals illegally present in the United States.

[The] Fourteenth Amendment has never been interpreted to extend citizenship universally to everyone born within the United States. The Fourteenth Amendment has always excluded from birthright citizenship persons who were born in the United States but not “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” Consistent with this understanding, the Congress has further specified through legislation that “a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” is a national and citizen of the United States at birth, 8 U.S.C. 1401, generally mirroring the Fourteenth Amendment’s text,” the order reads.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

DOJ Launches Nationwide Subpoena Offensive Against Doctors, Clinics Providing “Trans Surgeries” to Kids

Credit: Matt Hrkac / Flickr

The Department of Justice has issued more than 20 subpoenas to doctors and clinics accused of performing gender-affirming procedures on minors.

The subpoenas span investigations into healthcare fraud, false statements and even definitions of gender medicine as female genital mutilation (FGM).

“Medical professionals and organizations that mutilated children in the service of a warped ideology will be held accountable by this Department of Justice,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi.

This sweeping legal push stems directly from Bondi’s April memorandum.

The memo declares that “gender ideology” has infiltrated American culture and the medical community, causing children to undergo irreversible procedures (puberty blockers, hormone therapy, surgeries) due to “junk science” and political capture by far-left activists.

According to the memo:

  • The DOJ will investigate and prosecute any gender-affirming surgery on minors as a potential violation of FGM laws under 18 U.S.C. § 116, which carries up to 10 years in prison per count.
  • DOJ will investigate drug companies and doctors for mislabeling or misbranding puberty blockers and hormones.
  • The DOJ will coordinate with state Attorneys General to prosecute hospitals and physicians under both federal and state laws banning gender transitions for minors.

More from The Daily Wire:

The Justice Department’s Chad Mizelle made the announcement during the Federal Trade Commission’s workshop on the “Dangers of ‘Gender Affirming-Care’ For Minors” in Washington, D.C. Mizelle shared that DOJ has issued nearly 20 subpoenas against clinics who are engaged in transgender transition attempts, noting that the DOJ’s investigations include healthcare fraud, false statements, and more.

Mizelle urged Americans to come forward if they could provide information about deceptive practices in the transgender medicine industry, saying Wednesday: “If you are someone who has been harmed please come forward and let us know.”

Immediately following his announcement, Mizelle introduced a panel of detransitioner survivors and parents, including Prisha Mosley, Soren Aldaco, Beth Bourne, Forrest Smith, Helen Spiegel Lee, and Gwen Turecki, individuals who emotionally shared their experiences as they navigated gender transition attempts or helped — or lost — a family member who attempted to transition.

The workshop signals the FTC’s interest in combatting the transgender medicine industry, following the directives of President Donald Trump’s executive orders on protecting children from transgender procedures and combatting radical ideology.

Over 2,000 Senior NASA Staff Set to Leave Following White House Plan to Gut Space Agency: Report

At least 2,145 senior-level NASA employees—many of them top scientists and mission-critical managers—are voluntarily heading for the exits, according to internal documents obtained by Politico.

The exits come as part of a bold push by the Trump White House to downsize a bloated and politicized federal bureaucracy.

These GS-13 to GS-15 employees—many of whom wield enormous behind-the-scenes influence over NASA’s billion-dollar programs—represent the backbone of the agency’s managerial and technical power structure, making their exit a potential turning point in U.S. space policy.

According to Politico, 2,694 civil servants are taking early retirements, buyouts, or deferred resignations as NASA is hollowed out from within — a direct result of Trump’s 2026 budget proposal that slashes the agency’s funding by 25% and seeks to eliminate over 5,000 jobs.

Below are some of the numbers of staff who are leaving:

  • Goddard Space Flight Center (MD): 607 staff gone
  • Johnson Space Center (TX): 366 staff
  • Kennedy Space Center (FL): 311 staff
  • NASA HQ (DC): 307 staff
  • Langley (VA): 281
  • Marshall (AL): 279
  • Glenn (OH): 191

More from Politico:

At Johnson, home of NASA’s human space flight operations, 366 staff are set to leave, or nearly all of the 419 staff the White House envisioned cutting in its 2026 budget. At Kennedy, home to NASA’s primary rocket launch site, 311 have left out of a White House target of 504. With NASA still accepting deferred resignations, more could easily leave.

“NASA remains committed to our mission as we work within a more prioritized budget,” said NASA spokesperson Bethany Stevens. “We are working closely with the Administration to ensure that America continues to lead the way in space exploration, advancing progress on key goals, including the Moon and Mars.”

Even small losses, meanwhile, have a large impact. NASA’s legislative affairs staff, which helps answer questions from Congress on the agency’s mission, is seeing five staffers leave. That office typically numbers around 35, meaning a staff reduction of nearly 15 percent, according to a former staffer, granted anonymity to discuss staffing levels.

A second NASA staffer departing the agency, granted anonymity to discuss their decision, said the large percentage of people leaving their office would likely affect operations. “It’s very significant,” he said. “It’s leaving us with a lot of experience drain.”

The departing staffer described their decision to leave as influenced in part by fear of the proposed NASA budget cuts and the lack of a Senate-approved NASA administrator: “Things just sound like it’s going to get worse.”
