ICE Arrests Star Boxer for Deportation, Cites Potential Ties to Foreign Terrorist Organization

Boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. was scooped up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials for what was described as an “active arrest warrant” in his native Mexico that tied him to a transnational crime syndicate the Trump administration has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.

Chávez, 39, was taken into custody just days after losing a bout to social-media-celebrity-turned-boxer Jake Paul on Saturday in Anaheim, California, according to The Associated Press.

Department of Homeland Security officials announced the arrest on Thursday. The agency had initially determined that he should be arrested on June 27, but didn’t act until after the high-profile bout.

The AP reported that Chávez was picked up Wednesday by “a large number of federal agents while he was riding a scooter in front of a home where he resides in the upscale Los Angeles neighborhood of Studio City near Hollywood.”

His lawyer described the arrest as specious.

“The current allegations are outrageous and simply another headline to terrorize the community,” attorney Michael Goldstein said.

However, the DHS and ICE said in a media statement that Chávez’s record in Mexico, including an affiliation with the Sinaloa Cartel, warranted expulsion from the U.S.

“Chavez is a Mexican citizen who has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives,” the news release stated.

“Chavez is also believed to be an affiliate of the Sinaloa Cartel, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization,” the release added, noting that his attempt to gain permanent residency in the United States contained “multiple fraudulent statements” and connected him to bad actors.

“On April 2, 2024, Chavez filed application for Lawful Permanent Resident status. Chavez’s application was based on his marriage to a U.S. citizen, who is connected to the Sinaloa Cartel through a prior relationship with the now-deceased son of the infamous cartel leader Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman,” the release noted.

And while immigration officials deemed Chávez “an egregious public safety threat” in December, “an entry in a DHS law enforcement system under the Biden administration indicated Chavez was not an immigration enforcement priority.”

“On January 4, 2025, the Biden administration allowed Chavez to reenter the country and paroled him into the country at the San Ysidro port of entry,” the DHS release stated. “Following multiple fraudulent statements on his application to become a Lawful Permanent Resident, he was determined to be in the country illegally and removable on June 27, 2025.”

“This Sinaloa Cartel affiliate with an active arrest warrant for trafficking guns, ammunition, and explosives was arrested by ICE,” Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in the release.

“It is shocking the previous administration flagged this criminal illegal alien as a public safety threat, but chose to not prioritize his removal,”

“Under President Trump, no one is above the law — including world-famous athletes. Our message to any cartel affiliates in the U.S. is clear: We will find you and you will face consequences. The days of unchecked cartel violence are over.”

It wasn’t clear Saturday morning when Chávez Jr. would be deported, though the AP reported Friday that he was “being processed for expedited removal.”

Chávez Jr., son of one of the most accomplished boxers and athletes in Mexican history, has had his career marred by a battle with drug addiction.

In addition to a number of failed drug tests and subsequent suspensions from boxing, CBS News rather charitably noted that he’d also been “widely criticized for his intermittent dedication to the sport” during his career.

Despite that fact, Chávez Jr. became a world title holder in 2011 at the age of 25 with a victory over German Sebastian Zbik at Los Angeles’ Staples Center.  He’s won 54 of his 63 fights, 34 by knockout, with seven losses and a draw.

His loss to Paul was just the second fight he’s had since December of 2021, the other being a win over Jamaican-American Uriah Hall by unanimous decision in July of 2024.

In 2012, meanwhile, he was convicted of drunk driving for an incident in Los Angeles and in 2024, authorities picked him up on gun charges, according to CBS. While that case is still pending, authorities let him free on $50,000 bond on the condition that he seek drug rehabilitation.

His criminal record below the border, however, is significantly more troublesome. In March of 2023, Mexican authorities issued a warrant against a “Julio C” on organized crime and firearms trafficking charges, according to the AP.

A federal agent told the AP that “Julio C” is indeed Chávez, although that has not been stated publicly until the DHS media release seemed to confirm it.

In Mexico, the AP reported a mixed reaction to the arrest of one of the country’s best-known athletes.

“I think that the U.S. government — in this case, Trump – is up to something,” Mexico City newspaper seller Martín Sandoval Peñaloza told the news agency, adding that the president wanted “to attract media attention.”

Mexico City storekeeper Oscar Tienda wasn’t so sure, however.

“I think it was predictable because he has had a lifetime of drug use,” Tienda said.

You Can’t Make This Up: Retiring RINO Rep. Don Bacon Eyes 2028 Presidential Run After Complaining Congress Was Too Hard

You seriously cannot make this up.

RINO Don Bacon — yes, the same Nebraska “Republican” who just announced he’s retiring from Congress because the work is too grueling — now says he’s thinking about running for President of the United States in 2028.

Bacon wrote in X that he no longer has the hunger for the hard work of running for Congress.

Apparently, working 14-hour days and spending four days a week in D.C. is just too much for ol’ Don.

In a statement posted to X, Bacon wrote:

“Some like to spin my retirement from Congress to fit their own wishes. I’m retiring from Congress in 2027 to spend more time with family & home. I don’t want to do 14-hour days & DC 4 days a week anymore, which is what it takes to win this purple seat.”

So what does a guy do when he’s tired of his actual job in Congress? According to Don Bacon: run for Governor. Or President.

“I got asked the other day, ‘You say you’re interested in being an executive — is that governor or president?’ I go, ‘Yes,’” Bacon told NBC News.

“If there’s an opportunity and I can make a difference, a unique difference, I would like to keep serving. I just don’t want to do two-year elections.”

The guy who quit Congress because it’s too demanding now thinks he’s cut out for the White House. Apparently, running the country would be a lot more relaxing than representing Nebraska’s 2nd District.

Even more ridiculous? Bacon admits it would be “incredibly difficult” to win the presidency as a former House member. But don’t worry — he says he has a “vision” and a “heart to serve.”

To top it off, Bacon floated the idea of being Defense Secretary — if “God opens that door.”

NBC News reported:

Bacon, 61, acknowledged that it’d be incredibly difficult to run for the White House as a current or former House member — James Garfield was successful way back in 1880. And Bacon said he’s not sure his brand of Republicanism — Reaganism and a muscular view of foreign policy — can ever make a full comeback in the party, though he said he will continue making the case for it.

“I don’t think it would be very easily done,” he said. “All I know is I have a heart to serve our country, and I have a vision.”

Defense secretary is another option “if God opens up that door,” he said, though he’s not sure a Republican president would nominate him. He said he would not run against incumbent Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, a fellow Republican and close friend who took office in 2023.

[…]

Bacon lamented that running in a tough battleground district every two years was an exhausting endeavor, and that he didn’t have “the fire in my belly” to win a sixth race.

“This job requires a 14-hour day during the week, Saturdays, parades and a variety of things, and Sunday sometimes. And do I want to do this for two more years? I just didn’t have the hunger to want to work at that intensity level,” said Bacon, who has a large pig figurine sitting on his desk. “And my wife has wanted me to come home. I’m gone to D.C. four days a week, and I have a chance to be home now seven days a week, and I have eight grandkids within 10 minutes of my house.”

Bacon said he thinks he could have won re-election had he run, even though the party that controls the White House typically loses House seats in a president’s first midterm election.

George Stephanopoulos Gets Caught Smearing President Trump With a Massive Lie Regarding the Deadly Texas Floods – Trump White House Responds (VIDEO)

Credit: ABC News Screenshot

ABC’s lead Sunday morning anchor is not letting facts get in the way of a political narrative, even after losing a $16 million lawsuit to President Trump and when bodies from a tragedy are still warm.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, at least 51 innocent souls in Kerr County, Texas, were killed over the fourth of July weekend by flooding from the Guadalupe River. The victims included 14 children at Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp.

Many other children who were at Camp Mystic have gone missing and are still unaccounted for.

Trump has signed a “Major Disaster Declaration” for much-needed relief for Kerr County, while Coast Guard officials and Texas first responders have saved over 850 lives so far.

However, Stephanopoulos seized on this tragedy during his Sunday ABC show and saw an opportunity to blame the Trump Administration for deaths from the flooding, alleging they cut funding to the National Weather Service (NWS).

“We’re also learning there were significant staffing shortfalls to the National Weather Services offices in the region,” Stephanopoulos stated.

WATCH:

This would be disturbing news if true. But unsurprisingly, it turns out Stephanopoulos was spreading an easily-debunked lie so that he could make Trump look like a villain again.

Not only was there no staffing shortfall, but there were EXTRA staffers on duty for the storms. What a whopper of a lie.

White House Deputy Secretary Abigail Jackson responded to Stephanopoulos’s tall tale by sharing a story from Wired, which also confirms the National Weather Service and Trump did nothing wrong.

“This is absolute fake news and even Wired knows it,” she wrote.

Is another lawsuit against Stephanopoulos and ABC in the cards? One would advise the Democrat henchman to issue a quick retraction so he does not have to find out.

Fighter Jets Intercept 11th Aircraft Near Trump’s Bedminster Golf Club Over Fourth of July Weekend

An F-15 fighter jet from the Florida Air National Guard’s 125th Fighter Wing, Detachment 1, intercepted a simulated Temporary Flight Restriction violator during a demonstration near Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida, March 26, 2025.

Fighter jets were once again scrambled over Bedminster, New Jersey, marking the 11th airspace incursion near President Donald Trump’s private residence during this Independence Day weekend, where he is currently spending the holiday.

According to a statement released by the Department of Defense, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) aircraft were forced to intercept multiple unauthorized general aviation aircraft that breached Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) zones over Trump’s Bedminster golf club.

“For the second time this weekend, NORAD aircraft intercepted a GA aircraft violating the Bedminster TFR, bringing the total to 11 violations so far.”

According to the press release:

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) aircraft intercepted a second general aviation aircraft that violated Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey. This morning’s intercept, followed by two later TFR violations, brings the total to 11 unauthorized incursions into restricted airspace this weekend.

The civilian aircraft violated the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) at approximately 10:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The aircraft was safely escorted out of the area by NORAD aircraft.

“NORAD and the FAA aim to keep the skies over America safe, with close attention paid to areas with Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) to ensure flight safety, national security, and the security of the President,” said Gen. Gregory Guillot, Commander, NORAD and US Northern Command.

“TFR procedures are mandatory, and the excessive number of TFR violations this weekend indicates some civil aviators are not reading Notice to Airmen, or NOTAMs, before each flight as required by the FAA. NORAD armed fighter aircraft will intercept and guide offending aircraft out of the TFR. Should the pilot of an aircraft happen to find itself intercepted by either fighters or helicopters, they should immediately come up on frequency 121.5 or 243.0 and turn around to reverse course until receiving additional instructions on one of those frequencies.”

General aviation pilots are reminded to verify all Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs) and Fly Informed before every flight; in the instance of the Bedminster, New Jersey region, specifically FAA NOTAMs 1353, 1358, 2246 and 2247.

INSANITY: Texas University Professor Claims “We’re Not Born with a Sex — It’s Assigned”

Just when one thought woke academia could not get more insane, it has.

This time, a professor at Texas State University claimed, without any evidence, according to The College Fix, that “First, we assign the sex category,” the professor said.

“The sex, male or female, is also assigned at birth. I think that’s a little bit of a hump for some of us to get over, to see that we’re not born with a sex. Sex is also socially constructed.”

This claim, which is patently insane and not based on science, was not backed up with any evidence because there is no evidence supporting this. In case things were murky when asked, “So you’re saying biological sex and gender are separate,” the professor responded in the affirmative.

The professor gave a long-winded answer, saying that sex is biological, but gender is social. This assertion was made without any evidence to back it up.

This wasn’t the only wacky, non-scientific assertion this Texas U professor made. Later on, he would claim in a slide show, according to The College Fix, that a toy broom marketed to girls as evidence that we “indoctrinate children into a male-led society.”

These claims, not based on facts or science undermine universities and cause the public to look down at these so-called institutions of higher learning.

There were other Texas State University professors who also gave their biased opinions instead of teaching facts.

One professor even made the assertion that she would quit if unable to teach Critical Race Theory.

As the writer of The College Fix article rightly said, unless students speak up, this is unlikely to change.

He also pointed out the amount of money the state allocates to these schools despite the craziness being taught.

Political agendas are being enforced, and it’s far left at its core.

This craziness must end. Many will rightly boycott academia until they stop their liberal nonsense and go back to their core mission.

FLOP: Without Russia’s Putin and China’s XI, the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro Is Emptied, Reflecting Brazil’s Lula da Silva Disastrous Foreign Policy

BRICS Members today (6) at the BRICS Summit at Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil – By Indian Prime Minister’s Office/Wiki Commons

A few days ago, British magazine The Economist ran a piece called: ‘Brazil’s president is losing clout abroad and unpopular at home’, highlighting how Lula da Silva’s foreign policy is all wrong, and how he has become a very unpopular figurehead inside Brazil.

Brazil’s Lula da Silva is failing abroad and at home.

Lula pretends to meddle in issues that are not his to opine, pretending that the South American giant has influence in spheres where it has not. At the same time, The Economist criticizes him for not working on issues where he does have influence on, such as Venezuela and other trouble spots in the South American subcontinent.

Now, as the BRICS nations gather in Rio de Janeiro for the annual summit, the growth of the multipolar group is overshadowed by the fact that the two stars of the party – Russian President Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping – will not be present, emptying the event of much of its relevance, and reflecting poorly on Lula’s foreign policy.

Putin could not attend the BRICS meeting over the ICC arrest warrant.

Putin is not present because Brazil is a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC), that has issued an arrest warrant against the Russian President.

The ICC is a very controversial transnational court, and neither the US, nor Russia or China are members of it – it’s basically a court ‘for suckers’.

Many countries have made sure to ignore the Putin warrant: Hungary openly announced that it would ignore the ICC to receive the Russian leader, and Mongolia effectively received him, despite being a member of the international court.

But unpopular Lula is not able to approve legislation in Congress, let alone a potentially controversial one like that.

Putin and Xi are absent, with India’s Modi carrying the torch for them.

With the absence of Putin, Chinese leader Xi Jinping announced that he was not attending. Why?

Conservative sources in Brazil suggest that Xi’s absence is due to a diplomatic incident during Lula’s trip to China, in which his controversial wife Janja – not a Brazilian official – interrupted the Chinese leader to bash TikTok for being filled with ‘far-right’ disinformation.

While this certainly didn1t help, the simpler explanation is that Xi is punishing Lula for the absence of Putin.

Lula and his BFF French President Emmanuel Macron: Brazilian leader between the west and BRICS.

Back when Lula started his new mandate, under pressure from the Joe Biden administration, he went on a limb and criticized Putin for the war in the Ukraine.

The reaction was immediate, with the Chinese authorities cancelling the Brazilian president’s trip to Beijing, saying that ‘Lula had health issues’.

With no Putin or Xi, the name of the summit is India’s Narendra Modi, with Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi also present, while Russia and China sending their foreign ministers Sergei Lavrov and Wang Yi.

During feeble Joe Biden’s administration from hell, the multipolar push by the BRICS got immense momentum, with dedollarization as a centerpiece of the group’s work.

But now, under Donald J. Trump, the geopolitical landscape is much changed, and the BRICS will need more accomplished leadership than what Lula da Silva can provide.

Oh the Irony: Mexicans Lose Their Minds As AMERICANS Immigrate Into Their Country for Better Living Conditions (VIDEO)

Mexico City residents riot on July 4 over Americans moving into their country. Credits: tiktok.com/@elheraldodemexico@elheraldodemexico and tiktok.com/@nadiamartinezdega

The people of Mexico are getting a taste of their own medicine after years of flooding into America, both legally and illegally, by the millions.

On July 4, hundreds of unruly demonstrators held a protest in Mexico City against the gentrification of their neighborhoods, which is playing a role in rising house prices. The furious Mexicans accused Americans of “stealing” their homes and “imposing their culture” on them.

Do these phrases ring a bell back in the States?

“Speak Spanish or get out of here!” One protester also said.

Since 2020, affluent foreigners seeking better living conditions have been looking to America’s southern neighbor for cheaper and better living conditions. Unsurprisingly, Americans make up the bulk of the new immigrants.

This new trend has been exacerbated by the fact that Americans can stay in Mexico for 180 days without a visa.

In addition to the ironic cries, demonstrators sprayed graffiti across buildings targeting the “gringos” supposedly ruining their paradise. One graffiti sign even called for killing foreigners (“Kill a gringo”).

The protest then later took a turn for the worse. As the Associated Press reported, some of the agitators decided to take their anger at Americans out on their local businesses and innocent tourists.

From the AP:

A protest by hundreds against gentrification and mass tourism that began peacefully Friday in Mexico City neighborhoods popular with tourists turned violent when a small number of people began smashing storefronts and harassing foreigners.

Masked protesters smashed through the windows and looted high-end businesses in the touristic areas of Condesa and Roma, and screamed at tourists in the area. Graffiti on glass shattered glass being smashed through with rocks read: “get out of Mexico.” Protesters held signs reading “gringos, stop stealing our home” and demanding local legislation to better regulate tourism levels and stricter housing laws.

H-1B Party: South African Elon Musk Launches ‘America Party’ with Indian Treasurer

Elon Musk, a native of South Africa, has formally filed a statement of organization with the Federal Election Commission to launch his “America Party.”

The treasurer and custodian of records for the party is Vaibhav Taneja, an Indian man who has served as Tesla’s Chief Financial Officer since August 2023.

Musk launched the party in response to his public fallout with President Donald Trump over the “One Big Beautiful Bill” tax and spending package, which he fiercely opposed.

The tech billionaire had launched a poll on his X platform, where over 65% of 1.25 million respondents supported creating a new party to challenge the “uniparty” system. The platform does not filter votes by country.

Musk claims the America Party will serve as a centrist force, targeting two or three Senate seats and eight to ten House districts to act as a deciding vote on contentious laws. He claims it will represent the “80% in the middle,” referring to voters who are disillusioned with both Democrats and Republicans. However, specifics on its platform remain vague. He has hinted at themes prioritizing debt reduction, deregulation, and tech innovation — all of which would benefit him.

The day before the filing, Musk wrote, “One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts.”

“Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people,” Musk continued.

The tension between Trump and Musk boiled over in early June when the X owner criticized the One Big Beautiful Bill legislation on his social media platform, prompting the president to fire back by labeling Musk a “big-time drug addict” and hinting at his ketamine use for depression. Trump also threatened to slash billions in federal contracts and subsidies for Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, a move that sent Tesla’s stock plunging 14% in a single day.

Musk retaliated by suggesting Trump’s impeachment, alleging without evidence that Trump’s name appears in unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files, and even threatening to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, though he later backed off.

The party’s registration with the FEC was filed on July 6, 2025, listing its headquarters at 1 Rocket Road, Hawthorne, California, the address of Musk’s SpaceX.

Musk is named as the sole candidate, although, as a South African-born citizen, he is ineligible to run for president.

The announcement was met with swift backlash and mockery on social media. It was nicknamed the “H-1B Party” when Taneja’s involvement was announced.

SAVE THE CHILDREN: Pope Leo XIV Appoints French Archbishop Thibault Verny To Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors

Pope Leo XIV (formerly archbishop Robert Prevost) and his new president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, French Archbishop Thibault Verny.

As American Pope Leo XIV starts to work on the priorities of his papacy, it is somewhat reassuring that one of his first acts is to appoint the new head of the Vatican’s commission on clergy sexual abuse.

This is Leo’s first public move to confront an issue that continues to harm the Church’s work in the world.

Reuters reported:

“Thibault Verny, 59, will be president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors while also remaining the archbishop of Chambery in southeast France.

The Vatican commission was created by Pope Francis in 2014 in an effort by the late pontiff to respond after sexual abuse scandals affected the Church in countries across the world.”

The sexual abuse scandals have hurt ‘the Church’s standing as a moral voice’, and led to multiple lawsuits and several resignations of bishops.

French Archbishop Verny vowed to improve the Church’s ‘safeguarding measures’.

“’We will promote the equitable sharing of resources so that all parts of the Church, regardless of geography or circumstance, can uphold the highest standards of protection’, he said in a statement.”

To tackle the clergy sexual abuse is a big priority for Pope Leo XIV.

Archbishop Thibault Verny has long been actively involved in the fight against abuse in the Church, working as President of the ‘Council for the Prevention and Fight against Pedophilia’ within the French Episcopal Conference.

He gave an interview to Vatican News:

“Archbishop Verny: Three words came to my mind and heart. First of all, the word ‘humility’ in the face of the importance and gravity of the mission and the challenges that come with it. Then the word “gratitude”, towards our Holy Father, Leo XIV, for the trust he has shown in me […] The third word is “determination” to continue and deepen this work.

[…] and through the ‘Memorare’ project, to support the Churches in welcoming and accompanying victims. The guidelines will be published shortly. They provide guidance for the accompaniment and protection of minors.

Another point that I think is important will be to be able to network the initiatives. Too often, individual countries work on their own. Instead, it is necessary to be able to support each other and share what is being done.”

St Peter’s Square at the Vatican

Verny thinks that it is essential that victims and their parents and families are present in the Commission, bringing ‘their irreplaceable experience’.

The French archbishop wants to implement ‘a mindset, a culture, within the Churches to spread the protection of minors and ensure that it becomes natural, both in the Church and in families – and also in society’.

“The demand on the Church [is] with regard to its mission, its place in society, and the expectation of a truly exemplary Church, capable of caring for vulnerable people and in particular minors. There is this element of humility that the Church must have, the recognition of the truth in order to look to the future.”

“Trust is not achieved by decree. It is earned and built day by day. There is a temptation to want to talk about something else, to want to turn the page. However, the work of truth and accompaniment of victims must continue. The protection of minors remains and will always be a topical issue. This is the condition for the Gospel to be heard and believed.”

Joe Biden, Hunter’s Enabler and Grandchild-Denier, Says He Wants to Be Remembered as a Dad

While the establishment media and those in his orbit are busy producing the first wave of now-it-can-be-told memoirs about former President Joe Biden’s tenure, you may notice that Biden himself has been conspicuously quiet — especially since he revealed his cancer diagnosis in May, just a few days before publication of the most damning of these exposés.

I’m of two minds about this leave of absence. As someone who likes strong leadership in the White House, it makes me happy; we no longer have to hang on Biden’s every slack-jawed senior moment to discern the state of the executive branch.

As a fan of schadenfreude, however, I have to say I miss Scranton Joe.

In that capacity, let me share the good news if you hadn’t heard, what with all the Big Beautiful Bill action and the Fourth of July holiday: Joe’s back, baby, and just as self-unaware as ever!

Most of the attention to Biden’s remarks on Wednesday to the Society for Human Resource Management in San Diego came from his claim, according to Fox News, that he is “getting calls … from a number of European leaders asking me to get engaged” in the fight against President Donald Trump.

He also noted that he was writing a book since “every president is expected to write a memoir,” although one might note that we’d all excuse from that assignment a president we figure has already forgotten most of his term. Nevertheless, Fox reported, he says he’s “working like hell” to get the 500-page book out by “March of this year.” (It’s currently July.)

However, in the coverage of these rare remarks from the doddering ex-prez, so much attention was paid to the fact that Joe Biden is a delusional former president that, arguably, not enough was paid to the fact that he’s a delusional parent, too.

From the close of The Wall Street Journal’s write-up of the event:

Johnny C. Taylor Jr., SHRM’s president who joined Biden on stage after his address, asked him what he would most like to be remembered for.

“Being a good father,” Biden responded.

Look, I get that people are the best parents in the world … until they have children. And even those who aren’t parents have to concede that some children will be more challenging than others. But at some point, we reach the junction where we can cast aspersions on your skills as a mother or a father. Joe has, to use the parlance of his beloved railroads, blown past that junction, and the station, and derailed at the end of the line.

Joe has had three children who survived to adulthood. Beau Biden, who died at age 46 in 2015, seemed to have turned out all right. As to the other two, Joe’s batting .333 at best.

For instance, there’s Hunter. Oh heavens, is there ever.

I don’t think that there’s much more that needs to be said about Hunter’s problems. What’s problematic is the extent to which Joe Biden’s political career effectively managed to both get Hunter into, and then out of, these problems.

For instance, one nickname that followed Joe Biden around Capitol Hill was “The Senator from MBNA.” That now-defunct Delaware-based megabank financially supported Biden, who routinely scratched its back reciprocally via legislation.

The piece in which that moniker was first applied to him, by conservative commentator Byron York in The American Spectator all the way back in 1998, noted that one of the ways the then-senator was uncomfortably close to MBNA was that the company, according to York, “hired Biden’s son for a lucrative job in which, according to bank officials, he is being groomed for a senior management position.”

Which son? Ding ding ding: It was Hunter. And while hindsight is 20/20, do you really think Hunter Biden was a man who would have been groomed, in other circumstances, for a “senior management position?”

Indeed, as Matthew Yglesias wrote in a Vox article back in 2020, Hunter’s career “never really seems to have quite launched as an independent entity” from his father’s political fortunes. When dad was busy defending Amtrak, Hunter was there, Yglesias wrote. When dad was providing favors for MBNA, Hunter was there to pick up some more crumbs. When dad had accumulated reams of power on Capitol Hill, guess who else was operating primarily on Capitol Hill? The question answers itself.

This connection got exceptionally problematic during Biden’s vice presidency, when Hunter was apparently a low-functioning addict but doing business with some of the richest men and most powerful companies in the world. He was on the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma while his dad was point-man on Ukraine — and doing fun things like claiming he got a powerful prosecutor who’d gone after Burisma tossed out the door:

Nor did Hunter stop grifting off pop’s career as Biden aimed for the presidency. By the time his dad was elected to the White House, Hunter had launched a career as an artist, selling overpriced doodles to politically connected Democratic donors.

Joe, again, did less than nothing to stop his son’s nepo-racket.

When federal authorities finally focused on Hunter — for which he has no one to blame but himself, especially since he implicated himself in his own book — Joe first said Hunter wasn’t guilty of any crime (quite a statement to make before the wheels of justice duly turn) and then pardoned him when he was convicted of one set of charges and pleaded guilty to another.

I understand many of us know the heartbreak of a child who ends up addicted to substances, either in spite of or because of our parenting skills. I feel for you. But this is different from actively aiding and abetting not only your son’s addiction but his sense of entitlement — and then sealing it with a pardon.

And then there’s Ashley Biden, Joe Biden’s daughter with Jill Biden.

Ashley is comparatively well-adjusted, but only by comparison to Hunter, so that’s not saying much. She’s still had addiction and entitlement issues, as well, and — in her infamous leaked journal — appeared to blame pops for at least some of her promiscuity, citing “showers w/ my dad (probably not appropriate)” as part of the reason for being “hyper-sexualized [at] a young age.”

If Hunter is a swing and a miss, Ashley is — at best — an easy-out double-play ground ball in the parenting department.

And then there’s the fact that being a good parent also means being a good grandparent, should you be so fortunate to have that fall upon you.

Lest we forget, Joe and Jill Biden refused to even recognize one of their own grandchildren thanks to the fact that she was born out of wedlock via a fling Hunter had with a woman named Lunden Roberts.

Even though a DNA test definitively proved the then-first son had fathered the child, Hunter would go on to write in his memoir that “I had no recollection of our encounter.” (Another salient reminder that how you father a child matters in all aspects, including in how he fathers children.)

It got bad enough that the Joe and Jill were excoriated for not recognizing their granddaughter Navy Jean with a stocking in the White House Christmas display — an unbelievably petty act. Add to this the fact that another grandchild of Joe’s was apparently involved in a kerfuffle with her Secret Service detail — one of the unfortunate don’t-you-know-who-I-am? variety — which led to the first family allegedly retaliating against the agents involved, and you might see why grandparenting doesn’t seem to be Joe’s speed, either.

What Biden doesn’t seem to realize is that his record as a parent in public is just as bad as his dismal record as president — and, indeed, these two vocations are inextricably linked. Yet, here he is, telling the world how European leaders are still calling him and how he really wants to be remembered for just being dad, as if that somehow makes him look any better.

Elsewhere in his remarks Wednesday, he complained that everything he’d worked to do was being undone because of you-know-who, the successor whom he didn’t mention by name, as if the guy we elected to replace him was Voldemort or something.

“Many of the things I worked so damn hard, that I thought I changed in the country, are changing so rapidly,” he said.

Most of us, in fact, find that the legacy we leave will be through our children. The case is different for U.S. presidents, of course, who determine what trajectory this glorious country takes.

What does it say, then, that a little over six months after Joe Biden left office, his achievements in both presidenting and parenting are both, quite sadly, laughable?
