CNN’s Harry Enten Unloads Embarrasing Real-time Fact-Check on Jemele Hill (Video)

Atlantic writer Jemele Hill took to CNN to fantasize about President Trump losing support from his Republican base over the Jeffrey Epstein controversy.

CNN’s Senior Data Reporter, Harry Enten, however, threw cold water on her and provided a real-time fact check that debunked Hill’s wishful thinking.

Hill: This is the downside of the strategy that he has imported that got him elected. His entire strategy with the Epstein files was to try to give people the strong impression that this was Bill Clinton, this was Democrats, this was something that they were trying to hide. Now that this has all turned on him, he won’t be able to convince his base that this is a transparent investigation at all. I don’t know what it would take for them to believe that there’s no cover-up.

I mean, you’ve convinced a lot of these people, part of your whole spiel is that the government isn’t to be trusted. And then you’re asking these same people to suddenly trust that this was all on the up and up. There is no list, that everything is as it appears, and they’re just not going to buy it. And what’s always interesting to me is what it takes people to get off the Trump train. It’s not the xenophobia, it’s not the racism, it’s not the bigotry three. It is this. Are they off the Trump train? I mean, I think this is the part of what Charlotte is saying. It depends on who you’re talking to.

CNN’s Abby Phillip: Because I think that they really don’t want to be off the Trump train. They want to be on the Trump train. They just want Trump to get in line with them on this issue.

Enten: I think that’s exactly right, Abby. Look, I think for Trump, it does feel a little bit like the lady doth protest a little too much, right?

But when it comes to his approval rating with Republicans, it’s basically as solid as it ever was. You put it up on the graphic before where you saw the smallest decline was among Republicans.

If you look at the average of polls as approval rating with Republicans, still at about 90%.

Of course, those same Republicans say they are dissatisfied with the amount of information that’s been released so far. Everyone is dissatisfied with the amount of information that’s been released so far with concern of the Epstein files. Everyone thinks that there’s something more going on there.

But then making that leap to all of a sudden that his base is moving away from him, at least at this particular point in the polling data, we’re not seeing it.

Despicable: John Bolton Refused to Brief Trump on Classified Memo Which Showed John Brennan Manufactured Trump-Putin Collusion Intel – Here’s What He Reportedly Did Instead

It is not surprising that leading neocon/warmonger and former National Security Advisor John Bolton would rally around his Deep State allies and trash Trump as DNI Tulsi Gabbard turns the screws on those who manufactured the Russia Hoax.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft reported, Gabbard released her second batch of previously undisclosed documents on Wednesday morning. These documents include more proof that Barack Obama directly gave the order to publish the Russia Collusion hoax, knowing there was no proof to back it up.

Page three of this latest document drop shows that then-President Obama ordered the release of documents, knowing there was no evidence to back them up. Obama didn’t just know about the Russia hoax – he directed it. All to delegitimize Trump’s historic win.

Obama also helped cover up the blackmail Vladimir Putin had on Crooked Hillary Clinton, including her numerous health issues.

Several deep state hacks affiliated with Obama also helped push the Russia Hoax and are in hot water. One person who should be particularly concerned is former CIA Director John Brennan.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper is already so worried that he has lawyered up.

Now, Bolton should start sweating.

Real Clear Investigations reporter Paul Sperry revealed last night that Bolton had a classified memo in his possession that showed how former CIA Director John Brennan helped manufacture intelligence linking Trump to Vladimir Putin. Still, he never briefed Trump on the matter.

Guess what he did instead?

He stuck it in a National Security Council safe because he supposedly believed the intel. What a snake.

“Sources tell me in 2018 former Trump Nat’l Security Adviser John Bolton received a classified memo summarizing the explosive report exposing how Brennan cooked up Putin-Trump intel, but Bolton stuck it in an NSC safe and never briefed Trump, believing the Brennan intel,” Sperry wrote on X.

Perhaps Gabbard should also start looking at neocons like Bolton from the first Trump Administration. It would not be surprising to discover that he was not alone in betraying the president then.

Candace Owens Delivers Explosive Response After Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron Sue Her for Claiming that Brigette Was Born a Man (VIDEO)

Commentator Candace Owens has responded with fire to the lawsuit filed by French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigette, earlier this week over her claims about Brigette’s birth.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Macron and his wife filed a defamation lawsuit in a U.S. court against Owens last Wednesday for a ‘relentless and unjustified smear campaign’ alleging that Brigitte was born a man.

The suit also alleged Owens subjected the Macrons to a “campaign of global humiliation, turning their lives into fodder for profit-driven lies.”

Here is a summary of the lawsuit via the Independent:

“The 219-page defamation complaint filed in Delaware state court on Wednesday accuses Owens of proliferating ‘demonstrably false’ claims through her platforms, including in an eight-part podcast and on social media, designed to feed a ‘frenzied fan base’ in ‘pursuit of fame’, the Macrons allege.

“Owens has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade, the complaint alleges. ‘The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale.’

Every time the Macrons leave their home, they do so knowing that countless people have heard, and many believe, these vile fabrications. It is invasive, dehumanizing, and deeply unjust.”

But despite facing the potential loss of thousands of dollars, a fiery Owens later made clear on her podcast that she was not backing down.

“You were born a man and you will die a man,” she said while pointing her finger. “That’s the point I’m making.”

“So give us a sample, I’ll send my doctors to take your blood,” she continued. “Or how about giving us some pictures again of you growing up and raising your children?”

Owens then said that she was not in no mood to settle but was looking forward to making it to discovery and explained why.

“We are revolting against the perverts that run the world, and I want to be clear, I count you (Brigette) among them,” she proclaimed. “”I think you’re sick. I think you’re disgusting.”

“And I am fully prepared to take on this battle on behalf of the entire world. On behalf of the entire world, I will see you in court.”

Mamdani Isn’t a Socialist-He’s a Communist

Zohran Mamdani, a self-described socialist, has been called a communist by his competitors. The truth is, the Democratic Socialists of America’s platform is essentially akin to communism. Mamdani’s advocacy for democratic socialism aligns closely with communist ideologies, posing a threat to individual liberty and economic freedom.

The DSA’s charter outlines a vision of socialism centered on collective control of resources and production. It advocates for economic planning, equitable distribution, and the abolition of systemic domination based on race, religion, or gender.

Specifically, the charter calls for ending capitalist exploitation, describing U.S. capitalism as rooted in the enslavement of Black people and the genocide of Indigenous people. In 2023, the DSA reported 78,000 members nationwide, with its New York City chapter—closely associated with Mamdani—claiming over 7,000 members.

The charter’s language, such as overcoming the “parasitic death-drive of capitalism,” mirrors rhetoric from The Communist Manifesto, which famously concludes: “Workers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains!” This parallel fuels concerns that democratic socialism serves as a rebranded entry point to communism.

In Venezuela, the socialist policies of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro led to a 62% GDP decline from 2013 to 2020, according to the International Monetary Fund. Hyperinflation reached 1.7 million percent by 2018, rendering the bolívar nearly worthless. Over 7 million Venezuelans—20% of the population—fled the country by 2023, per the United Nations.

“I’m fighting Zohran Mamdani and the rise of socialism in New York because this is about much more than politics — it’s about the survival of a free society,” said Brandon Straka, founder of the #WalkAway movement.

Similarly, Cuba’s communist regime, established in 1959, resulted in a GDP per capita of $9,100 in 2022, compared to $70,600 in the United States, according to the World Bank.

In a private interview with Alan Dershowitz, he said, “People who lived through Russian communism, Cuban socialism, or Venezuelan collapse would never vote for him.”

The Soviet Union, which collapsed in 1991, saw 14.5 million deaths from starvation and purges under Stalin’s regime, as documented by historian Robert Conquest. These examples illustrate the economic collapse and authoritarianism often associated with communist systems.

“History is very clear about what comes next. Socialism doesn’t stop with lofty promises — it moves into authoritarianism. The next step is communism. We’ve seen it over and over: in Cuba, in Venezuela, in the Soviet Union,” Straka said.

In a public statement, Mamdani acknowledged that “globalizing Intifada” means different things to different people, including, for some, a call to violence against Jews.

“He claims he doesn’t support violence, but he won’t condemn slogans that some interpret as calls to kill Jews,” Dershowitz said.

Straka and Dershowitz argue that Mamdani represents a broader radicalization, especially among younger generations. A 2025 YouGov poll found that 43% of Americans aged 18–29 view socialism favorably, compared to only 13% of those over 65.

This generational divide reflects limited exposure to socialism’s historical failures. Dershowitz emphasizes that survivors of Russian communism, Cuban socialism, or the Venezuelan collapse—such as the 1.5 million Cuban Americans in the U.S., per the 2020 Census—overwhelmingly reject candidates like Mamdani.

These communities, having experienced centralized control firsthand, warn of its dangers.

New York cannot survive under Zohran Mamdani’s vision of top-down control, failed socialism, and anti-merit extremism. That’s why I’m proud to stand with Brandon Straka—and thousands of New Yorkers from every background—to speak out before it’s too late.

No matter your race, religion, or politics, this fight belongs to all of us. If you care about New York—if you care about America—then join us in helping this city #WalkAway from Mamdani.

Google Silences Conservative Media

Googleplex Headquarters, Mountain View, US (WikiComms).

Washington has long debated whether public institutions like NPR or the Department of Education are pushing ideological agendas. But in focusing on traditional media and academia, policymakers may be missing the real source of influence over the American mind: Silicon Valley.

Specifically, search engines and platforms with global reach are shaping political discourse far more aggressively—and covertly—than any publicly funded outlet.

Search engines are not neutral tools. They’re curated environments, programmed by people with perspectives. And when one company dominates search—handling over 90% of global traffic—it wields unprecedented control over what information gets seen and what gets buried.

Concerns about political bias in tech aren’t just speculation. Internal company leaks, congressional testimony, and peer-reviewed research have revealed how digital platforms quietly steer public opinion—often without users realizing it.

In one widely reported leak, former Google software engineer Zach Vorhies released hundreds of internal documents from a major tech firm, exposing tactics like keyword blacklists and algorithmic suppression of certain news sites. Among the targets were conservative outlets that routinely ranked lower than their audience size or relevance would suggest.

These revelations fueled growing public skepticism. A Pew Research Center study found that 73% of Americans believe social media and search engines suppress political viewpoints—90% among Republicans.

That level of distrust points to a broader crisis: when people don’t believe the information ecosystem is fair, the democratic process itself begins to erode.

But the most concerning findings come from behavioral science. Dr. Robert Epstein, a prominent psychologist, testified before the U.S. Senate about how search algorithms can sway voter preferences. His experiments showed that subtle changes in search rankings—such as which articles appear first—could shift undecided voters’ choices by significant margins.

In tight elections, even a 4–8% swing can change outcomes. Among certain groups, the influence was found to reach as high as 80%.

These effects are particularly concerning because they happen below the surface of awareness. People trust search results. They assume top-ranked links are either the most relevant or most accurate.

But if those rankings are being quietly manipulated to favor one political viewpoint, then the public isn’t getting information—they’re getting persuasion disguised as objectivity.

Importantly, Epstein emphasized that he has never supported a conservative candidate. A longtime center-left academic, he supported Hillary Clinton in 2016. His warning is nonpartisan: the machinery of digital influence has outpaced democratic oversight.

Despite these concerns, the federal government continues to expand its partnerships with the very companies at the center of the controversy. One such firm landed a Department of Defense contract in 2025 worth up to $200 million, focused on AI development. That same company is involved in the Joint Warfighter Cloud Capability project—a $9 billion national security initiative—and holds contracts across NASA, the Department of Energy, and beyond.

In other words, the government isn’t just tolerating these firms—it’s embedding them deeper into national infrastructure, even as their influence over political information grows unchecked.

If Washington is serious about combating ideological bias, it can’t stop at defunding media outlets or scrutinizing public universities. The Trump administration has already taken steps to cut funding from media organizations that misled the American public.

But now, it must confront a new and more insidious threat: the power of algorithms—the invisible code that shapes what Americans see, think, and believe.

The digital age has given a handful of private companies the ability to guide the national conversation. Left unregulated, that power is a threat not only to political diversity—but to democracy itself.

Oklahoma Governor Burns Gavin Newsom By Giving Him a Fitting ‘Award’ After California Governor Infers that Oklahomans Are a Bunch of Moochers

California Governor Gavin Newsom simply can’t help himself from weighing in on matters that are none of his business, and keeps getting embarrassed in the process.

On Thursday, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt announced on social media that the Sooner State would soon be phasing out its state income tax. The only surprise is that one of the reddest states in the country had one to begin with.

Stitt predicted Oklahoma would start rolling even more economically as a result.

Newsom saw Stitt’s tweet and immediately tried to take credit. In the process, he also implied that Oklahoma abolishing its income tax was only possible because of how many tax dollars California coughs up to the federal government, which supposedly allows Oklahoma to implement conservative policies.

In other words, he was calling Oklahomans moochers.

“Oklahoma relies on California for critical federal tax dollars that fund education, healthcare and — apparently — this new tax break,” he wrote. “You’re welcome, @GovStitt.

But Stitt had a brilliant response ready. He ended the back-and-forth by giving Newsom a fitting prize.

Because Californians are fleeing their state in droves due to taxes, crime, and unaffordable housing, the Oklahoma governor quipped that Newsom should receive Oklahoma’s Economic Developer of the Year award.

“Congrats to @GavinNewsomfor winning Oklahoma’s Economic Developer of the Year, “he wrote.

“I love talking to Californians who have moved to Oklahoma because of our great business-friendly culture! Come visit us sometime!”

Stitt should hope that Californians who are moving to his state lean right because leftists fleeing the Golden State have destroyed former GOP strongholds like Colorado. Locusts do not change their nature.

Clerical Error Leads to Violent Criminal’s Escape, Massive Manhunt in New Orleans

There is uneasiness in the Big Easy after an inmate with a violent criminal record was set free in error on Friday.

Khalil Bryan, 30, was released from the New Orleans jail instead of a person with the same last name who was supposed to be freed, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson said Friday, according the Times-Picayune.

Bryan was being held on a $125,000 bond for not appearing at his arraignment and faces charges including aggravated assault with a firearm.

In 2023, Bryan was charged with aggravated flight and aggravated criminal damage to property over an incident in which a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office car was rammed after a high-speed pursuit.

Bryan’s release came weeks after 10 inmates broke out of the Orleans Parish jail. One inmate remains on the loose.

The NOLA Ready alert system sent city residents a message saying a manhunt for Bryan was taking place.

“I want to make a sincere apology to the people of New Orleans,” Hutson said, according to ABC. “The mistaken release of Khalil Bryan was a serious error, and as sheriff, I take full responsibility.”

Hutson did not have details of the mistake as of Friday afternoon and said staff on duty at the time Bryan was released are being questioned.

“We’ll find out exactly what did happen, because we don’t know until we talk to them,” she said. “We know that there were similar last names. That’s all that we know.”

Disciplinary action “will be forthcoming,” she said.

“This should not have happened,” she said. “It was a failure of internal processes, and the public has every right to expect better.”

Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams said that the mistaken release was “a deeply troubling incident that underscores the ongoing systemic issues surrounding the exercise of custody and control over detained individuals.”

He added, “The failure to properly confirm the identity of an inmate prior to release is an unacceptable lapse that presents a real and immediate risk to public safety.”

New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick had a message for Bryan, according to WWL-TV.

“Even though it was a mistaken release from custody, you are on notice — you are a fugitive,” Kirkpatrick said.

“I’m gonna ask that you turn yourself in. You and others who may be harboring him at this moment, will be subject to prosecution yourself because you are on notice,” she added.

Fake News Debunked: Sob Story About ICE Deporting Old, Suffering Grandpa Gets Blown to Shreds When the Brutal Truth Emerges After a Few Twists

Two federal law enforcement officers coordinate with other officials on the ground during an enhanced immigration enforcement operation (Credit: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement)

A hit job by a disgruntled family on President Trump’s immigration policies was destroyed when, after a couple of twists, the stunning truth emerged.

Earlier this month, a report emerged that an 82-year-old Chilean legal immigrant and grandfather in poor health named Luis Leon, supposedly an Allentown, Pennsylvania resident, was arrested by ICE while Leon was trying to replace his green card. He first gained asylum in 1987.

Both Leon and his wife, who was also arrested, were then taken to a detention facility without being given a reason. While Leon’s wife was released roughly 10 hours later, Leon remained in custody.

Family members of Leon told The Morning Call that Leon died in custody before saying he was taken to a hospital in Guatemala.

From the Morning Call:

Relatives of 82-year-old Allentown resident Luis Leon are headed to a Guatemalan hospital Saturday in hopes of reuniting with the man they say disappeared without a trace into the American immigration system a month ago — and who, for a time, they thought was dead.

The last time anyone in the family saw Leon was June 20, when he went with his wife to a Philadelphia immigration office to have his lost green card replaced.

There, the family says, he was handcuffed by two officers, who led him away without explanation. His wife, who speaks little English, was left behind and kept in the building for 10 hours until she was released to her granddaughter, the family says.

But then a twist emerged. Guatemala authorities issued a press release on Tuesday saying no one named Luis Leon ever entered the country.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed what the Guatemalans said about Leon in a press release and added that there is only one record of Leon entering America, from a decade ago.

The family of the individual allegedly told reporters he was handcuffed and taken by federal officers at a green card appointment in Philadelphia. This claim is completely false. There is no record of the man appearing at any green card appointment in or around the area of Philadelphia on June 20, 2025.

Furthermore, ICE has not deported Luis Leon—a Chilean national—to Guatemala, as his family members have said. ICE’s only record of this individual entering the U.S. is in 2015 from Chile under the visa waiver program.

Then Chilean journalist José María del Pino dropped the biggest twist of all. He shared a death certificate that showed that a person with the same name, birth date, and Chile’s unique national ID number (RUT) as Leon died in Chile in 2019.

This means the family was almost certainly using a dead man to sabotage the Trump Administration!

Fox News’s Bill Melugin perfectly sums up the entire saga in his tweet.

It appears to have been all made up by the family, which has since gone dark and stopped responding to the press. Here’s what happened since the story first ran in The Morning Call, an Allentown, PA newspaper.

– Records in Chile show a man with his same name and date of birth died in Chile in 2019.

– Guatemala says they have no record of him being deported to its country.

– DHS says there is no record of him appearing at any green card appointment in the Philly area, and they say ICE never arrested him.

– DHS says they never deported him, and their only record of him entering the US is in 2015 from Chile via the visa waiver program, not an asylum grant from the 1980s as the family claimed.

– His granddaughter claimed he was sick in a Guatemalan hospital with pneumonia after ICE deported him, and that he was traumatized (after first claiming he was dead). A doctor at the hospital she claimed he was at says there is no record of him being there.

Also, The Morning Call published two stories with photographs purported to be of Luis Leon that were actually from a man who died back in 2021. The photos were proved by a woman claiming to be Leon’s granddaughter.

This stupid saga could have been avoided had The Morning Call reporters done their jobs and investigated the claims. But they just wanted to push a narrative instead.

Just another reason why no one trusts the media anymore.

Trump Blamed for ‘Superman’ Global Slump: Reeve’s 1978 Classic Debunks the Haters

If you’re in business and you’re not doing as well as you’d like in foreign markets in 2025, it doesn’t hurt to blame President Donald Trump. After all, you can claim some vague anti-American sentiment or tariff uncertainty or geopolitical blowback or whatever. It’s probably not true, but it doesn’t hurt to have a fall guy that the media doesn’t like.

This is especially true if you’re in the entertainment industry. Conservatives getting blamed for tanking films is hardly a new phenomenon, particularly this year. Critics complained that anti-woke backlash killed the box-office for Pixar’s “Elio,” say. Trump’s the head of that hydra, right?

Never mind the fact that when you took out the character’s “queer-coded” original persona, as Disney executives reportedly did, there wasn’t an actual story left to tell — which meant there wasn’t an actual story to begin with, except for a kid being “queer-coded.” If anything, Trump saved it from doing worse than it did.

It gets a little bit more complicated when you look at “Superman” — the new James Gunn-directed film which has done well enough at the box office, with one slight caveat.

As Hollywood-centric publication The Wrap noted, Superman was “off to a stellar start, with one lingering concern.” As for the stellar start, it took in $217 million worldwide with $122 domestic in its first weekend, along with an 82 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating and a good A- CinemaScore — i.e., the audience score, which demonstrates the kind of legs it has — as well.

But all was not well:

Now for the bad news: “Superman” did not reach $100 million in overseas grosses, slipping to $95 million internationally as approximately 56% of the film’s global grosses came from the U.S. and Canada.

A poor start in Asia was expected for “Superman,” grossing $13.3 million combined from China, Japan and South Korea. But aside from the $9.8 million opening in the U.K., numbers were low in Europe. Combined, the film made just $9.6 million from France, Italy and Spain, compared to $15.6 million for the opening weekend of “The Batman.”

Director James Gunn knew who was to blame: Trump!

“Superman is not a known commodity in some places. He is not a big known superhero in some places like Batman is. That affects things,” Gunn said, according to Variety.

“And it also affects things that we have a certain amount of anti-American sentiment around the world right now. It isn’t really helping us. So I think it’s just a matter of letting something grow. But again, for us, everything’s been a total win. Having the movie come out and be something that has been embraced by people everywhere — this is just the seed of the tree that Peter and I have been watering for the past three years. So to be able to have it start off so positively has been incredibly overwhelming.” [Emphasis ours]

That sounds great coming out of his mouth. Here’s the problem: There’s another superhero movie that came out this year which had a far better domestic-to-worldwide box-office ratio. An American superhero movie. Starring a superhero literally called Captain America in a film titled “Captain America: Brave New World.”

The domestic gross, as per Box Office Mojo: $200,500,001. International: $214,601,576.

“Superman,” meanwhile: $264,641,578 domestic, $173,100,000 international.

But, hey — maybe people associate Superman more with America than Captain America. After all, who could guess Captain America is American, especially just going by his name? So let’s look at the original “Superman,” released in 1978.

In case you remember how America was perceived in 1978, the answer: not well. We’d just gotten out of Vietnam a few years prior in circumstances that were, uh, less than ideal, the foreign policies of both the Nixon/Ford and Carter administrations were not viewed with unmixed delight in either Europe, Asia, or the rest of the world, and our prestige was at the point where a group of militant students stormed the American embassy in Tehran a year later and would precipitate a 444-day hostage crisis which would effectively end Carter’s presidency and U.S.-Iranian relations.

“Superman” 1978 box-office total: $134,478,449 domestically, $166,000,000 internationally. Those are non-adjusted dollars, but they’re pretty much the mirror-image percentage of what “Superman” 2025 is taking in.

So, what gives? Probably not anti-American sentiment. In fact, another very American property — the latest “Jurassic Park” film, “Jurassic World: Rebirth” — is dominating the international box office at present, despite being released a week earlier than “Superman.” Its tally has been $288,516,440 domestically, $373,504,423 internationally — so, again, there goeth that theory.

To a certain extent, Gunn might have hit the nail on the head with his explanation that Superman doesn’t carry the same cachet that other superheroes do, particularly Marvel ones, in foreign markets. This is especially true after a long run of troubled adaptations of DC Comics properties.

Aside from the stand-alone successes of the Christopher Nolan “Dark Knight” trilogy — which had a great deal to do with the fact that Batman is more popular worldwide and Nolan is considered one of the greatest filmmakers working today — the rest of the universe’s stable has done poorly, both financially and critically, at the box office.

If you want to go down the ultimate rabbit hole of how bad things can happen to good intellectual properties, do a search on “Snyder cut” and just start clicking on hyperlinked articles in what you find. Suffice it to say, the brand’s properties have been handled badly, and given that consumers are finally coming back to comic book movies after oversaturation and critical underperformance practically killed the genre, they’re more likely to come back to Marvel first, considering those movies have routinely been better handled.

Also, “Jurassic Park” films do well internationally because it’s easier to understand why dinosaurs kill people than what drives someone to fight evil dressed up in a costume, and “Jurassic World: Rebirth” is the first film in the series in a long while not to receive a total critical drubbing. (Granted, its 51 percent Rotten Tomatoes score ain’t great, but considering prior recent versions got scores made Joe Biden’s poll numbers look fantastic, there’s that too.)

Finally, it could just be marketing — or the fact that the film is harder to market, period. Superman is played by David Corenswet, whose star power has mostly been limited to critically acclaimed but commercially modest Netflix series. Lois Lane is Rachel Brosnahan, whose breakout role — the titular character in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which was indeed marvelous — was in a series that definitely doesn’t translate well outside of an American milieu. (Forget explaining Lenny Bruce to foreign audiences; you try dubbing or subtitling the dialogue in an Amy Sherman-Palladino series into Chinese without losing the context.)

So blame all of those. But don’t blame anti-American sentiment when Captain freaking America — did I mention part of his name is America and he’s also the captain of it by implication? — did quite superbly at the foreign box office. It doesn’t hurt to blame Trump, no, unless somebody bothers to check your dumb, reflexive theory. Just saying.
