Kamala Harris has officially answered one question regarding her political future while throwing the door wide open to another path that will please most Republicans.

On Wednesday, Harris announced on X that she would not run for governor of California next year. She had previously flirted with the possibility for months.

“In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their Governor,” Harris wrote. “I love this state, its people, and its promise.”

“It is my home. But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election.”

Harris also teased that “more details” regarding her plans would come in the coming months.

By ruling out a run for governor, Harris has given herself a clear path to a third run at the presidency (she ran in 2020 and 2024), which she has noticeably left on the table. Had she won the governorship next year, running for the Oval Office would have been quite difficult considering the immediate turnaround.

Most current polling shows she is a modest frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic Party nomination.

Most Republicans would be pleased with a JD Vance-Harris showdown in three years, given Harris’s lack of retail skills and penchant for gaffes.

An illegal alien from Mexico has been arrested for murdering a 15-year-old boy who attempted to stop the foreign national from raping his mother.

Gildardo Amandor-Martinez, 36, has been arrested for the fatal shooting of his girlfriend’s son, Luis Lopez, when the teen tried to defend his mom on July 20.

Lopez’ younger sister was also assaulted with the firearm by Amandor-Martinez.

The Department of Homeland Security said in a press release, “On July 20, Amandor-Martinez arrived at an apartment shared with his girlfriend, Aleida Lopez, early in the morning and attempted to rape her. After she fended him off, Amandor-Martinez assaulted her by biting her left hand, right armpit, and injured her arm. Her 15-year-old son, Luis Lopez, tried to intervene and was shot by Amandor-Martinez three times and murdered. The criminal illegal alien then assaulted Lopez’s daughter with a firearm.”

The press release stated that Lopez was described as a “sweet student” by Rowan County Senior High School, and he would have been a sophomore in the fall.

Amandor-Martinez attempted to enter the country three times under the Biden administration in 2021. DHS says he “successfully entered the country on his third try at an unknown date and location and without inspection by an immigration officer.”

“15-year-old Luis Lopez died trying to save his mother from this criminal illegal alien who was attempting to rape her. Gildardo Amandor-Martinez is a rapist and cold-blooded killer who should have never been in this country,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

McLaughlin announced that an ICE detainer has been placed on the killer.

“The Biden administration’s open-border policies allowed this monster to walk American streets and commit these evil crimes, including murder, assault, and attempted rape, against a mother and her children. ICE has placed an arrest detainer to ensure Amandor-Martinez will not be released onto America’s streets and allowed to terrorize American families again.”

President Trump issued a preliminary response to Jerome Powell and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) moments before they announced a decision not to cut interest rates for the fifth time since December. 

The FOMC announced on Wednesday afternoon that it decided to maintain interest rates at the current level, as President Trump puts massive pressure on Fed Chair Jerome Powell to cut the rates.

This is despite Quarter 2 GDP numbers showing positive economic growth, hundreds of billions of dollars in new business investment, and hundreds of billions of dollars in tariff revenues into the United States.

Notably, Trump announced a deal with Japan recently where they’ve agreed to invest over half a trillion dollars in the United States, of which the US “will receive 90% of the Profits,” Trump said. Reciprocal tariffs of 15% will also be imposed on Japan.

Earlier this month, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a cabinet meeting earlier this month that he estimates the United States will take in “well over $300 billion” from tariffs “by the end of the year.”

Days later, new budget data showed that tariff revenues as a share of federal revenue had more than doubled, and tariffs created a surplus as opposed to a $71 billion deficit in June 2024 under Biden. US Customs duty collections for fiscal year 2025 had already topped $100 billion for the first time in history, with several months still to go.

But Jerome Powell and the FOMC say that this is not enough, inflation and unemployment are too high, and “uncertainty about the economic outlook remains elevated.”

Two Trump appointees to the Fed’s Board of Governors, Governor Christopher Waller and Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman, voted against the action.

President Trump responded on Wednesday during a congressional bill signing ceremony after signing a bill to reform VA home loans and expand mortgage assistance for veterans. He slammed “Too Late” Jerome Powell, saying “he’s done a bad job.”

“Each point that this gentleman keeps up costs us $365 billion a year,” the President said while highlighting the massive income from tariffs and trade deals. “We should be the lowest interest rate, and we’re not. We’re 38, number 38, because of the Fed.”

Reporter: You said that higher interest rates are making it harder for veterans to refinance. With the stronger than expected GDP report out this morning, what do you say to analysts who worry that lowering interest rates would actually lead to inflation?

Trump: Well, if that happens, then we’d just raise them. What you do is you lower them, and let’s see if there’s inflation. Right now, there’s no inflation. Everybody thought there would be. All we have is billions of dollars of cash pouring into our country from other countries that took advantage of us for many, many years. You know, they were taking advantage of– we were like the stupid people that didn’t know what they were doing. They took advantage of us, other countries, friend and foe. And by the way, the friend was oftentimes much worse than the foe when it comes to trade.

So,if that happens, what you do is you raise your rates and you do what you have to do to stop inflation, but we’re keeping the rates high, and it’s hurting people from buying houses. So, we don’t want that. If, for any reason, that happened, in a year or two, if there’s some signs of inflation coming back– right now there’s not. We have a great thing going. I think we’re going to have the richest economy you’ve ever seen. We have money coming in that we’ve never even thought about at numbers that nobody’s ever seen before. We have a deal with Japan, where they’re going to pay us $550 billion; we have a deal with Europe, where they’re doing $750 billion plus $400 billion, plus $300 billion; and many other countries. It’s likewise, you know, relatively those are two big ones, but likewise. So, we have a lot of money coming in, and we have no inflation, and we’re very strong, and we should be lowering the rates.

You know, each point that this gentleman keeps up costs us $365 billion a year. Think of that, one point, $365 billion. If you bring it down a point, we save 365. We should be the lowest interest rate, and we’re not. We’re 38, number 38, because of the Fed. It’s all because of the Fed. He’s done a bad job. Now, he’s got a meeting today, but I call [Powell] “Too Late.” He’s always too late, even if he does it today, probably wont. I hear they’re going to do it in September, not today. For whatever reason, nobody knows, but Europe, as you know, cut their rates 11 times in the last short period of time.

But the good news is we’re doing better than anybody anywhere in the world. Nobody’s doing anything even close to us, even with the higher rates. The higher rates do affect housing though because people can’t go out and get a loan or refinance their house, and it would be nice to have them be able to do that. That would be just another check of a box that would be very important.

The ex-girlfriend of the Delta pilot who was arrested on child abuse charges after landing his flight in San Francisco on Saturday has also been charged in the case–with the child victim being her own daughter.

After landing at San Francisco International on a flight from Minneapolis Saturday night, 34-year-old Rustom Bhagwagar from Florida was dramatically arrested on the plane–while shocked passengers pulled out their cellphones to record–by Contra Costa Sheriff’s detectives aided by Homeland Security agents. He was initially charged with five counts of sexual abuse of a child under 10.

Delta released a statement stating Bhagwagar was suspended, ““Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful conduct and will fully cooperate with law enforcement. We are appalled by reports of the charges related to the arrest and the individual in question has been suspended pending an investigation.”

Excerpt from report by KTVU-TV on the horrific case:

The Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office has now charged 45-year-old Jennifer Powell in the case. Powell is the mother of the girl who survived the abuse.

Powell’s ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old Rustom Bhagwagar of Florida, faces 24 felony counts of engaging in sex acts with a child 10 years or under, oral copulation with a child, lewd acts on a child, and aggravated sexual assault on a child, prosecutors said.

According to a probable cause statement, Powell was aware that her daughter was being sexually abused by her then-boyfriend. The court documents said she watched, and even participated in the alleged sex crimes against her daughter.

The abuse started when the girl was six years old and continued until she was 11. That was around the time when Powell and Bhagwagar broke up, according to prosecutors.

..Bhagwagar remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Center under a $15 million bond.

Powell is also being held at Martinez Detention Center, though jail records do not show a bail amount.

President Trump called for an investigation into Nancy Pelosi’s insider trading, saying “she has the highest return of anybody, practically, in the history of Wall Street, save a few” and that she got rich with “inside information.”

President Trump took questions from reporters during a Congressional bill signing ceremony on Wednesday, and he responded to new legislation that would bar members of Congress from trading stocks.

The President signed a bill to reform VA home loans.

This comes after Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced his Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments (PELOSI) Act, aptly named after the multi millionaire insider trader and former House Speaker.

When asked if he supports the bill, which will ban members of Congress, the President, and the Vice President from owning and trading stocks, Trump said “I like it conceptually” before tearing into Pelosi and her husband Paul Pelosi.

“She made a fortune with her husband, and I think that’s disgraceful,” the President said before calling for an investigation.

“And what I do think is Nancy Pelosi should be investigated because she has the highest return of anybody, practically, in the history of Wall Street, save a few,” he said.

“And how did that happen? It happened by she knows exactly what’s going to happen, what’s going to be announced, she buys stock, and then the stock goes up after the announcement.”

All the freedom-loving people in Brazil are celebrating the decision by US Donald J. Trump administration to impose heavy sanction under the Magnitsky law against tyrant Supreme Court justice Alexandre de Moraes – the man leading the ‘witch hunt’ against former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, a stanch Trump ally.

This comes less than two weeks after the US cancelled visas for Moraes and 7 other supreme court justices and many other top officials – and their families – in an unprecedented move.

This is happening over the sham prosecution of Bolsonaro and many other conservative voices.

“The sanctions are a marked escalation of the increasingly tense dispute between the U.S. and Brazil over Trump ally Bolsonaro, with major tariffs looming as soon as Friday as well.

The Treasury Department said it would impose the sanctions against Alexandre de Moraes, the judge who oversaw the prosecution of Bolsonaro and briefly banned Elon Musk’s X in the country.”

O Globo reported (translated from Portuguese):

“According to the US government, all of Alexandre de Moraes’s potential assets in the US are frozen, as are any companies linked to him. The minister is also prohibited from conducting transactions with US citizens and companies—using US-branded credit cards, for example.”

Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll has taken control of the hiring process of the United States Military Academy at West Point and ordered the firing of Jen Easterly, a recent hire for a professorship who was the head the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) unconstitutional censorship regime of American citizens under the Biden administration.

Easterly graduated West Point in 1990 (also studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar), served over 20 years, attaining the rank of colonel. After retiring Easterly worked for the NSA and other positions in the Obama administration. Easterly worked for Morgan Stanley during the first Trump administration, returning to government as a Biden appointee to lead CISA in 2021.

More on Easterly via the George C. Marshall International Center, which honored her in 2024 with their Ethical Leadership Award (excerpt): “A two-time recipient of the Bronze Star, Easterly retired from the U.S. Army after more than 20 years of service in intelligence and cyber operations, including tours of duty in Haiti, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan. A distinguished graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, she earned a master’s degree in philosophy, politics and economics from the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar.”

Driscoll issued his orders publicly on Wednesday, the day after the Dean of West Point, Brigadier General Shane Reeves posted a gushing welcome to Easterly on X. Reeves’ post was deleted late Wednesday morning after Driscoll’s order to fire Easterly. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reposted Driscoll’s statement Wednesday morning.

1. Rescind Jen Easterly’s offer to serve as the McDermott Chair
2. Pause outside groups from selecting Academy employees or instructors

Former Biden administration cyber official Jen Easterly said she fears President Trump’s personnel changes represent something more sinister than the normal churn of the revolving door in the federal government.

Ms. Easterly, former leader of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, is irked by Mr. Trump ousting the leaders of the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command and his issuing a memo cracking down on former CISA official Chris Krebs.

“What’s happening now is not a policy disagreement, but something dark: the targeting and removal of nonpartisan public servants and the normalization of loyalty oaths to something other than our Constitution,” Ms. Easterly wrote on LinkedIn on Friday. “And if we — who aim to protect critical systems — can’t defend the humans who manage and maintain them, what exactly are we securing?”

…Now that Mr. Biden’s appointees are no longer in power, Ms. Easterly is urging cyber officials to speak up and defend her goal of protecting institutions from the new administration’s changes.

Notable cases include Jesus Gutierrez Mireles, a 67-year-old Mexican national convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and Manuel Antonio Castro-Juarez, a 37-year-old Salvadoran convicted of sexual assault of a minor, both previously deported multiple times. ICE’s Houston field office, covering 57 counties in Southeast Texas, has deported 141 of these offenders, with ongoing efforts to remove the rest.
