Travis Kalanick, the billionaire co-founder of Uber is the latest wealthy job creator abandoning the state of California, amid discussions of a ‘wealth tax’ in addition to their already high taxes.
He is moving to Texas, which will surely be happy to welcome him and his money.
This is one of the issues that California Governor Gavin Newsom is going to have to answer for when he inevitably runs for president in 2028.
California is bleeding wealth and people at an unbelievable rate.

Billionaire and Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick officially joined the exodus from California, revealing he moved to Austin, Texas, just weeks before a proposed wealth tax could have targeted his estimated $3.6 billion fortune.
“Just to be clear, on December 18, I moved to Texas. I don’t know what’s so specific about December 18, but let’s just say it’s prior to January,” Kalanick said in an interview with TPBN.
“I get a little bit [of] FOMO on like, these people going to Florida. I’m like, dude! Why so much Florida action?” he continued. “Come on, homies.”
Kalanick left his San Francisco home for Texas just 14 days before the new year, when the retroactive residency deadline for the proposed billionaire tax would take effect.
While it has not yet qualified for the November ballot, the proposal — backed by the Service Employees International Union–United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) — would impose a one-time 5% tax on the net worth of California residents with more than $1 billion in wealth. The tax would be due in 2027, and taxpayers could spread payments over five years, with additional fees, according to the California Legislative Analyst’s Office.
If the measure is approved by voters, anyone who was a California resident on Jan. 1, 2026, would owe the tax, according to the proposal. Based on Forbes’ estimates, Kalanick could owe roughly $180 million.

President Donald Trump wants to go full speed ahead on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
United States allies, however, prefer to drift with the tide of the war with Iran, which has blocked the strait through which passes a major amount of the world’s oil.
In a Truth Social post Saturday, Trump wrote that “the Countries of the World that receive Oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage, and we will help — A LOT!”
“The U.S. will also coordinate with those Countries so that everything goes quickly, smoothly, and well,” Trump wrote.
“This should have always been a team effort, and now it will be — It will bring the World together toward Harmony, Security, and Everlasting Peace!” Trump wrote.
In another post, he specifically cited China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom as having vested interests in keeping the oil flowing.
However, rifts with Europe surfaced Sunday when Trump said NATO faced a “very bad” future if allies shied away from helping the U.S., noting that Europe needs Middle East oil more than ther United States does, according to The New York Times.
“It’s only appropriate that people who are the beneficiaries of the Strait will help to make sure that nothing bad happens there,” he said.
The newspaper summarized other international reaction:
The European Union said it was all for opening the strait, but did not go as far as saying action was imminent.
“It is in our interest to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, and that’s why we are also discussing what we can do in this regard,” said Kaja Kallas, the EU’s top diplomat for foreign affairs and security policy.
Ed Miliband, Britain’s energy minister, emphasized that the “best and simplest way” to reopen the strait was to curb the war.
Trump spoke to Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Sunday, but it was unclear if the U.K. would act.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said none of its navy is heading into the dangerous waters of the war-torn Persian Gulf.
Takaichi is scheduled to meet with Trump on Thursday in Washington.
China sidestepped the question entirely, but has said the war should stop.
French President Emmanuel Macron has said that once the danger has passed, France would send warships to help ships make it through the strait.
Macron said he has told Iran it must allow ships to pass unmolested through the strait.
A representative of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s office said it would “communicate closely with the United States,” but made no promise of action.
Axios noted that opening the strait is expected to be preceded by military action to wipe out the threat of Iranian land-based missiles on the north side of the strait. (The United Arab Emirates and an enclave of Oman are on the strait’s south side.)
Trump framed the strategy this way: “the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!”
As TGP previously reported, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett’s security officer was fatally shot by Dallas SWAT officers last week.
The security officer, Mike King, was a fugitive after impersonating a law enforcement officer.
King was killed in a parking garage during a standoff with Dallas SWAT officers last Wednesday night.
According to CBS News, he drove a “replica undercover police vehicle” with license plates “stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office.”
King reportedly has an extensive criminal history.
It is unclear how King was able to serve as Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s security detail despite his criminal background.
On Monday, Crockett defended Mike King even though he impersonated a federal law enforcement officer and drove cars with stolen US government plates.
“As a former public defender, I’ve always believed people are more than the worst thing they’ve ever done. I believe in redemption. The man we knew showed up with respect, care, and commitment to protecting others,” Crockett said.
“We’re still learning the full story, but today we mourn a life lost. This is a tragic ending that we wish had been avoided for all,” she said.
Crockett said the fact that King was able to “circumvent the vetting process” and be a part of her security detail is “incredibly alarming.”
“The fact that an individual was able to somehow circumvent the vetting process for something as sensitive as security for members of Congress highlights the loopholes and shortcomings in many of our systems. This is incredibly alarming, especially for those members who receive high volumes of credible and sophisticated death threats,” Crockett wrote.

Airport security wait times are climbing across the country as Congress neglects to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
The agency is placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Democrats.
The official X account for DHS posted a video on Sunday noting that there are now “SECURITY LINES OUT THE DOOR.”
The footage showed travelers at an unnamed airport queuing for Transportation Security Administration screenings in lines so long that they stretch into the parking garage.
“Americans are now missing their flights because of the Democrats shutdown of DHS,” the agency said.
“Their political stunt is forcing patriotic TSA officers to work without pay — leading to financial hardship, absences, and crippling staffing shortages,” the post continued.
“Enough is enough,” the TSA remarked. “The Democrat shutdown of DHS must end!”
DHS and the TSA were not the only entities blaming Democrats for the long lines at airports, which in some cases have reached wait times of three hours, according to a report from Fox News.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, contended that Democrats have been refusing to compromise on DHS funding.
It’s been three weeks and counting on Democrats’ second shutdown this fiscal year alone.
Tens of thousands of DHS employees are going without pay, and critical DHS priorities are going unfunded.

“Democrats keep telling us that they’re serious about funding this agency,” Thune said Monday on the Senate floor, per a release from his office.
“But their actions speak louder than their words. Negotiations have been going now for well over a month,” he continued, asserting that the two offers from the Democrats were “basically the same.”
“And if Democrats were really serious about taking action on this issue, they’d be working overtime to arrive at a compromise,” Thune added.
“But they’re not. They don’t even want to sit down.”
Hollywood actor Jerry O’Connell appeared on Bill Maher’s podcast over the weekend and told an unbelievable story about election night in 2024.
According to O’Connell, he was mildly critical of Kamala Harris and suggested that the Democrats should have held an actual primary instead of just coronating Harris.
He then says that his wife and two daughters became enraged and got ‘physical’ with him. One can only assume what that means. It sounds like he is saying that they beat him.
Actor Jerry O’Connell revealed in a new interview that his wife, actress Rebecca Romijn, and their daughters “became physical” with him after former Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election.
“If I say this, will I stay married?” the “Stand by Me” actor joked on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast on Monday.
O’Connell continued describing the night of the election where he insisted that he did not believe President Donald Trump would win. However, he recalled making off-hand remarks to his family during the night.
“I said something along the lines of ‘there was no planning. This is what they get. There should have been a primary.’ I said something along those lines, you know, like I was just spit-balling ideas. It was a shock. My wife and daughters, without saying anything, became physical with me. They were filled with rage,” O’Connell said.
He continued, “So if I am being careful with you in how I say things, yes, I live in California. I live with not one, not two, but three people who, if I made any kind of joke, they’d become very angry with me.”
Maher responded by saying he could not live that way.

Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, the most widely celebrated Irish holiday, but Catherine Connolly, the President of Ireland, is rewriting and repurposing his story.
St. Patrick was a Roman living in Britain who was captured by raiders and brought to Ireland as a slave. After escaping Ireland and becoming a Catholic priest, he dreamed that the people of Ireland were calling out to him to save them. He traveled back to Ireland and successfully converted the Irish people from paganism to Christianity.
According to President Connolly, St. Patrick’s story is all about how brave migrants are, and how the story reminds us all to be good global citizens. Is she insane?
Also, notice that when she speaks she never refers to St. Patrick as a saint and never describes why he is a saint.

Trump signs Executive Order establishing an anti-fraud Task Force led by Vice President JD Vance – Mar 16, 2026
President Trump slammed the nation of Somalia and Somali Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), noting that she “married her brother” and is “here illegally” while signing an executive order to establish the nation’s “first ever” task force to investigate fraud in federally administered housing, food, medical care, and cash assistance programs.
The task force will serve to “advise the President and coordinate government-wide efforts to combat widespread fraud, waste, and abuse in Federal benefit programs.”
Chaired by Vice President JD Vance, with Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson as Vice Chairman, “the Task Force will coordinate measures to improve eligibility verification, implement pre-payment controls, detect high-risk fraud trends, and disrupt and dismantle fraud networks and the mechanisms through which fraud is committed,” according to the order. “The Task Force will also coordinate development of minimum anti-fraud requirements to prevent exploitation of taxpayer-funded benefits, including proof of identity and documentation requirements, risk controls, and audit and remedial actions, while each member agency’ works to develop a measurable implementation plan.”
The order also highlights the massive “organized ring involving Somali immigrants” in Minnesota through programs like Feeding Our Future, noting that “There is strong reason to believe similar vulnerabilities exist in California, Illinois, New York, Maine, and Colorado, where insufficient safeguards and weak oversight increase the risk of large-scale fraud.”
“Somalia’s a Third World, maybe a fourth world nation, one of the worst, one of the most dangerous,” Trump said. “They don’t have anything. They don’t have councils, they don’t have government, they don’t have police. They shoot each other all over the place.”
While highlighting the estimated $19 billion in Somali fraud, Trump described Ilhan Omar as “one of the ringleaders,” while calling for her to be removed from the country. “I hope this is part of it, but she married her brother, supposedly. I mean, there’s a lot of documentation, that means she’s here illegally, and she’s a congresswoman, and I hope you’re going to be looking at that, or somebody is all right?” he told Vance.
As written in the order, “In January 2026, Vice President JD Vance announced a new division at the Department of Justice dedicated to national fraud enforcement.”
If Vance can secure high-profile indictments, or if Ilhan Omar’s citizenship is actually investigated and revoked, he will undoubtedly have the 2028 presidential primary election locked in. However, if the weak Attorney General, Pam Bondi, fails to pursue recommendations, the task force will be a huge stain on Vance’s record.
Vance touted his recent action, alongside Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Oz, to withhold Medicaid funding from Minnesota after amid evidence that fraudsters, “primarily illegal immigrants,” were defrauding the autism assistance programs by falsely claiming their children were autistic. “ou had autistic kids in Minneapolis, in suburban Minneapolis, who weren’t getting benefits they needed because Somali fraudsters were literally stealing out of their pocket. It’s got to stop. And unfortunately, that kind of fraud is one example of probably hundreds just within the state of Minneapolis, and then it’s repeated and replayed all over the United States of America,” Vance said.
The task force will use a whole-of-government approach to “Stop the fraud on the American taxpayer, and make sure that the benefits that ought by right go to American citizens, go to American citizens, and not to fraudsters,” he added. This includes previously non-existent intergovernmental coordination with the Department of Justice to ensure that fraud rings are busted, says Vance.
Ferguson also highlighted the importance of properly using taxpayer funds, vowing also to expose how “the previous administration was pretty lax about existing anti-fraud controls.”
“I would take the word pretty out. I would change it with ‘unbelievably lax.’ They were not even lax. Lax isn’t a good enough word,” Trump added. “The previous administration was fraudulent, okay? And I think that’s what you’re going to find also.”

Vance: Thank you, Mr. President. This is a very important whole-of-government approach to tackle the fraud problem. And let me just tell one story. When we first started talking about this problem, the President made it very clear he wanted us to take the fraud problem seriously because nobody had until he was president. We started to figure out one big hole that existed is that the agencies of the government weren’t actually talking to each other. So, Treasury would have evidence of financial fraud but wasn’t talking to the Department of Justice about it. Health and Human Services had evidence of Medicaid fraud but wasn’t talking to Department of Treasury about it.
So, what this executive order does is force the entire apparatus of the federal government to do two things: Stop the fraud on the American taxpayer, and make sure that the benefits that ought by right go to American citizens, go to American citizens, and not to fraudsters. Andrew Ferguson will be the vice chair, and is going to do a great job if you’re curious, what’s the difference between the vice chair and the chair. The vice chair is going to do all the work, and I’m going to take all the credit.
Ferguson: Look, millions and millions of Americans pay into these programs every day, and they expect to get something out of it, and this fraud is just siphoning money that millions of Americans pay to fund their hospitals, to fund their day care centers, into completely fake businesses. It isn’t just unfair to all of us as taxpayers who pay for all this. It’s particularly unfair to the Americans who need this the most and watch this money leave their hospital, leave their school system and go out to fraud.
And that is why this effort is so important. And I think we’ve just begun really looking at this, but I think that one of the things we’re going to find is that in a lot of these agencies, the previous administration was pretty lax about existing anti-fraud controls, and we’re going to expose that too.

What De Wever said is verboten, since the EU demands all its members to be rabidly anti-Russia, and doesn’t want a discussion on how its own energy sanctions are hurting itself.

But last week, a much less flattering portrait of the new technology was broadcast to the world, as an incident in the streets of the Chinese city of Macau ended with what is arguably the first android ‘arrest’.
BREAKING: Humanoid robot arrested after allegedly harassing an elderly woman on the street in China.
“The surreal incident occurred last week in the city of Macau, with the startled 70-year-old ending up in the hospital following her encounter with the 4-foot 4-inch bot.
Two cops escorted the humanoid bot off the busy street. They reportedly reprimanded the man who was operating the android remotely.”
Footage has appeared online of the woman yelling at the Unitree G1 model robot costing $13,500.
“‘You’re making my heart race!’ the woman raged in Cantonese, per a report in the Macau Post. ‘You’ve got plenty to do, so what’s the point of messing around with this? Are you freaking crazy?’”
In the video footage, the bot was seen raising both arms as he was scolded by the woman. Video subsequently shows two police officers taking the robot off the street.
The Macau Post reports that ‘there was no physical contact’ between the woman and the robot. However, she was taken to the hospital, where she was examined and released.”

The Daytona Beach Police Department is investigating four separate shootings that happened over the weekend.
Police said none of the shootings are believed to be connected to videos showing massive crowds of people running across Daytona Beach over the weekend.
The shootings come as thousands of people flock to Florida for their annual Spring Break trips.
Sheriff Chitwood said a total of 133 people were arrested at Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach over the weekend. He said 84 people were arrested in Daytona Beach and 49 arrested at New Smyrna Beach.
