Never for War

Never for War

My veteran father taught me not to get swept away by military fervor.

US-HOLIDAY-VETERANS DAY

I was about two months shy of my eighth birthday when the Gulf War began in January 1991, but my memory of it, and of my father’s stern admonition against war-making in general and that war in particular, left me with enough antiwar spirit to last a lifetime.

As improbable as it may sound, given how young I was, I still remember the eruption of the war on the television in my family’s living room. The personages on our side were rather memorable: Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, TV reporters Peter Arnett and Arthur Kent, singer Whitney Houston, who performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the near-concurrent Super Bowl.

I remember, too, my excitement at seeing the news accounts of the United States armed forces achieving their aims so efficiently, so assuredly. It shames me to write of how I thrilled to this war-making, but in my defense, I came from what I considered to be a military family: My father was an officer in the Air Force in the 1960s. That was the time of the Cold War; he had been a navigator. After seven years, he decided to return to civilian life because, he said, he was newly married (to my mother) and had developed doubts about the Vietnam War, which he had managed to avoid.

It would be years before I arrived on the scene, but despite the remoteness of his military service from my life, I lived with daily reminders of it. He retained the schedule of a man in uniform (“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise,” he was fond of quoting), and his bearing—firm, direct, pithy—was clearly a product of his training. I played with his Air Force wings, and he took my brother and me to a military surplus store. A prized possession was a birthday gift of a Swiss Army Knife, which I associated with his Air Force background.

Yet if I expected my father to ratify my childish elation at the might of the U.S. military in an actual conflict, I was sorely mistaken. During those opening days of the Gulf War, when I said something to him about the war that must have struck him the wrong way, he did not hesitate to correct me.

“We”—by which he meant our family, not our country—“are never for war, Peter,” he told me.

That stopped me in my tracks. Almost instantly, I remember, I quieted my rhetoric because I knew my father knew whereof he spoke. He had volunteered to serve in the military, he had excelled in his job, and he was about as far from a countercultural figure as one could imagine. Thus, when he spoke about the folly and tragedy of war, he did so with a certain authority.

As I grew older, I learned that my father was a curious mixture of patriot and peacenik. I have no memory of him reading military history, but he did introduce me to the folk music that he had listened to as a young man, especially songs with an antiwar bent. I fancied these tunes so much that I insisted on buying cassette tapes to be played on car rides. When we went on a family outing, it was to the sounds of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind,” Pete Seeger’s “Turn! Turn! Turn!,” or “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?,” the last ideally performed by the Kingston Trio or Peter, Paul, and Mary. Surely I was the only 10-year-old in the early 1990s who wore out a cassette of a live concert with Seeger and Arlo Guthrie, or who knew who those men even were—thanks to Dad.

By then, of course, the Gulf War was a distant memory. Thus, my antiwar sentiment was theoretical; were there another war, I was sure I would be opposed to it. I channeled all my feelings into the antiwar art I consumed—not just folk tunes, but Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse-Five and Stanley Kubrick’s movie Dr. Strangelove, both of which my father recommended to me. Once, I found myself at a performance of an excerpt or series of scenes from Kurt Jooss’s antiwar ballet The Green Table, and at the end, I applauded so vigorously that my father had to tell me to dial it down a notch.

Then came the Iraq War. Out came my cassette tapes, though—by then in my very early 20s—I traded “Blowin’ in the Wind” for John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”. More provocatively, as the designated family conservative, I leaned on our formidable intellectual tradition to fashion my antiwar stance. I read books by Pat Buchanan, and I took out a subscription to his explicitly antiwar magazine, The American Conservative, then published, as if to emphasize its urgency, biweekly on newsprint.

I relished those figures outside of liberal orthodoxy who opposed the war. Among their ranks was novelist Norman Mailer, who, in an interview in the pages of TAC, characterized himself a “left-conservative” and drew a distinction between “value conservatives,” whom he admired, and “flag conservatives,” who sought empire. “Behind the whole thing in Iraq is the desire to have a huge military presence in the near-East as a stepping stone for eventually taking over the world,” Mailer told TAC in 2002. He said Taft and Eisenhower were his ideas of value conservatives. This sounded good to me then; it still does today.

But I had already learned this lesson from my father when I was not even eight years old. Now, facing the horror of another war in the Middle East, I find myself turning not to songs nor books nor interviews with famous public intellectuals. I simply remember the words of my father, gone now for 16 years: “We are never for war, Peter.”

The Big Problem with Anthropic’s ‘AI Safety’ Brand

The Big Problem with Anthropic’s ‘AI Safety’ Brand

The company’s current battle with the Pentagon distracts from the military use of its flagship model.

The San Francisco–based AI company Anthropic has garnered national attention after a high-profile public dispute with the Pentagon over AI safety standards and the potential use of its technology for mass domestic surveillance. Its defiance of demands from the Trump administration—which last month led to a ban on federal government contracting with the company that is now the basis of an Anthropic lawsuit against the administration—prompted Silicon Valley elites to rally behind Anthropic and its CEO, Dario Amodei.

The episode has rallied Silicon Valley behind the company in ways reminiscent of the tech world’s pre-Trump liberal era. “Now what began as a whisper of support for Anthropic in the tech industry has crescendoed into a shout,” the New York Times reports.

The independent journalist Jack Poulson told The American Conservative he suspects that winning such support may be Anthropic’s goal—that the feud with the Trump administration may function less as a principled stand for civil liberties than as a calculated marketing strategy. That strategy would be designed to appeal to Silicon Valley liberals and progressives who dislike Trump, are skeptical of how the government uses their technology, yet are ultimately willing to provide the U.S. and other governments with the most powerful tools to censor, surveill, and even kill their enemies for the right price.

Poulson, who left his role as a senior scientist at Google in 2017 in protest over the company’s work on a censored search engine project for China, pointed to the fact that Anthropic’s entire brand distinction from OpenAI rests on its supposed ethical standards. That Anthropic is now engaged in a highly public dispute—one that has reportedly helped propel its Claude chatbot past ChatGPT in March app downloads—is “on brand,” Poulson said. It may simply be a way “for Anthropic to establish itself as #resistance,” he argued, so that “its employees can still feel welcome in liberal circles.”

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark, for his part, has experience with such calculated marketing strategies from his time as OpenAI’s policy director, helping that company exploit the false pretense of being a nonprofit for financial benefits.

Poulson pointed to a series of under-discussed disclosures that call into question Anthropic’s image as a company uniquely guided by ethical concerns about surveillance and the misuse of artificial intelligence. A leaked meeting booklet uncovered by Poulson in 2023 reveals Anthropic representatives participating in a closed-door intelligence collaboration involving senior CIA officials—including the agency’s chief technology officer and director of artificial intelligence—alongside Australian government officials.

The workshop, organized through forums run by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s Special Competitive Studies Project and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, was part of a broader effort to explore how large language models could be integrated with Western security states. At the same time, Anthropic has expanded its government business, hiring longtime Palantir employee Steve Sloss to lead U.S. government sales and pitching its technology to various intelligence agencies, including the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

Those disclosures raise broader questions about Anthropic’s ties to the deep state. Poulson noted that the company has partnered with Palantir, whose platforms are built around large-scale commercial and government data fusion, despite Anthropic’s public warnings about the risks of such systems. He also pointed to the CIA’s Open Source Enterprise, which has long discussed using large language models to process vast troves of publicly available data. The 2023 meeting between Anthropic and CIA officials raises questions about Anthropic’s awareness of, or cooperation with, those efforts.

Even as the firm now publicly resists certain Pentagon demands, its flagship AI model, Claude, has already been integrated into the U.S. military’s targeting infrastructure where it operates under the hood of Palantir’s Maven system. The model is now used by military planners to analyze intelligence feeds and generate prioritized target lists for U.S. strikes in Iran, and was likely involved in the American bombing of an elementary school which killed more than 160 people, mostly young girls. Previously, Anthropic’s AI was reported to have played a role in the operation to kidnap Venezuela’s leader Nicolas Maduro in which more than 80 people were killed.

Though it may advertise itself as opposed to fully autonomous weapons, Anthropic seems to have few red lines about how its products are used to kill non-Americans.

While Anthropic is now widely celebrated as a champion of civil liberties and AI ethics, its cozy relationship with the U.S. national security state—and the growing use of its technology in military operations—should invite far more skepticism about the company’s branding than it has so far received.

Christian Teacher Fined $750,000 for Refusing to Agree That There Are More Than 2 Genders – Persecution in the First World

Canadian educator Barry Neufeld of Chilliwack, British Columbia, who faces a $750,000 fine for disagreeing with gender ideology, stands next to activist Billboard Chris.

At this point, Canada hasn’t just done away with common sense. It’s dumped gasoline on it and set it ablaze for the world to see.

For example, former Chilliwack, British Columbia, school trustee Barry Neufeld must pay $750,000 for violating the Human Rights Code.

What exactly did Neufeld do for such a massive fine?

A Tribunal concluded he “invoked negative and insidious stereotypes about LGBTQ people, especially trans people, which denied their inherent dignity and, in some cases, reflected the hallmarks of hate against them as a group,” as the CBC reported Feb. 20.

“For five years, he publicly denigrated LGBTQ people and teachers and associated them with the worst forms of child abuse,” the Tribunal said further.

Neufeld had a complaint brought against him by Chilliwack Teachers’ Association and B.C. Teachers’ Federation after making Facebook posts, a speech, remarks at school board meetings, and comments to the media that the sentencing body felt would make those groups the target of hate.

One unnamed teacher said his comments had family members urging this person to reconsider career paths. The Tribunal said Neufeld “poisoned” the workplace.

He is a Christian, and his comments were relayed by The Christian Post. They aligned with historic Christian teaching on sexuality to which millions still subscribe today.

“It dawned on me that for a Christian, there are two approaches to take. The pastoral approach is one of compassion and empathy while firmly refusing to buy into their client’s delusional thinking. As one pastor said to a transgender person: ‘it is my responsibility to love you: but it is God’s job the [sic] change you’. However, while helping me grasp a better understanding of gender Dysphoria, the [issue] is so complex that it is hard to apply these insights in a debate at the political level, especially on Facebook,” Neufeld wrote.

He said his mission is to try “speaking out to the lawmakers in Victoria and trying to motivate lukewarm Christians who are sitting idly by as all of Society ‘Slouches towards Gomorrah.’”

Further, he spoke about the political ramifications of gender ideology, noting that it has “demonized people of faith who believe that God created humans male and female: In the Image of God.”

Neufeld issued a news release about the Tribunal’s decision and the $750,000 fee, saying, “I am sure they know I can never begin to pay this, but it sets a precedent, and in the future, no one else will ever dare to criticize their sacred Gender Ideology. So I must try to overturn this draconian decision.”

The complaint against Neufeld showed the thinking of his opposition. The document claimed “transpeople are, by definition, people ‘whose gender identity does not align with the sex assigned to them at birth.’”

“If a person elects not to ‘believe’ that gender identity is separate from sex assigned at birth, then they do not ‘believe’ in transpeople. This is a form of existential denial,” it continued.

The Tribunal added, “A person does not need to believe in Christianity to accept that another person is Christian. However, to accept that a person is transgender, one must accept that their gender identity is different than their sex assigned at birth.”

Billboard Chris, an activist who opposes transgender child mutilation, reposted those comments along with a picture he took with Neufeld.

Billboard Chris correctly concluded, “The Tribunal has declared that all British Columbians must believe in gender identities.”

In Canada, it is illegal to go against the regime’s dogma. You must buy the lie and repeat it.

However, Russian author and Soviet dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn once said, “One man who stopped lying could bring down a tyranny.”

Neufeld has the courage and the faith in Jesus Christ. He could be that man.

Former Brazilian President Bolsonaro Back in the Hospital With Pneumonia, as His Presidential Candidate Son Calls on Lula to ‘Stop Playing With My Father’s Life’

Jair Bolsonaro’s health is fading behind bars.

Lula da Silva denied visa to Trump envoy Darren Beatie who intended to visit the incarcerated conservative leader.

Conservatives in Brazil and around the world are worried about the frail health condition of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who is serving an almost three-decade-long sentence for a ‘coup-d’état’, an insurrection as fake as a three-dollar bill.

The tyrant judges in the out-of-control Supreme Court have repeatedly denied the requests to transfer Bolsonaro to house arrest, and there’s legitimate concern among his family, doctors and supporters that he may die in prison.

Yesterday (13), just as embattled Lula da Silva denied a visa for Donald J. Trump’s envoy Darren Beattie, who wanted to visit Bolsonaro personally, news arose of a new health crisis with the former president.

A hospital in the capital Brasilia confirmed that Bolsonaro has pneumonia and is receiving treatment in an intensive care unit.

Tweet from Flávio Bolsonaro expressing solidarity and urging prayer for Jair Bolsonaro's recovery and humane treatment.

Associated Press reported:

“One of his doctors, Brasil Caiado, told journalists that the 70-year-old’s medical situation was serious.

‘Pneumonia in patients over 70 is always serious because it can progress to septicemia, since the bacteria can normally enter the bloodstream and cause an even more severe condition’, Caiado said.

[…] He was admitted to the hospital after experiencing high fever, low oxygen, sweating and chills, DF Star Hospital said in a statement. Exams confirmed bronchopneumonia, a type of pneumonia, likely caused by aspiration.”

“’He is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit, receiving IV antibiotics and non-invasive clinical support’, the hospital said.”

Caiado said that Bolsonaro will probably remain in the hospital during the intravenous treatment that has to be done in a hospital setting.

“The embattled ex-leader was transferred to a larger cell in January, but his relatives have repeatedly asked the Supreme Court to allow Bolsonaro to carry out his sentence under house arrest. They allege he is being mistreated and receiving insufficient medical attention.”

Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate, James Talarico, is being positioned as if he is a moderate, yet he is anything but.

Talarico reportedly used his position as a public school teacher to push his radical left wing politics onto children in the classroom.

The Gateway Pundit reported,

Prior to getting into politics, Texas Democrat James Talarico was a middle school teacher in San Antonio. He apparently used his classroom to push Democrat politics on his young students.

The Democrat senate candidate reportedly had students write ‘Obama memoirs’ and encouraged them to watch the Democrat National Convention on TV.

Talarico uses Christianity to push his far left views, so it’s not much of a stretch to believe he used his position as a teacher to push left wing politics as well.

The Daily Wire exposed,

In a November 13, 2012, post, days after President Barack Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney, Talarico posted: “Today, we finished writing our Obama memoirs. We’ve been learning about narrative non-fiction writing like memoirs for the past 2 weeks.”

“Students wrote a memoir of Election Night from the point of view of a member of the Obama family. Awesome job, Wildcats!” he added. A photo accompanying the post showed a student essay beneath the word, “Victory!!!!!!”

In another post, Talarico highlighted the student memoirs on a classroom wall alongside images of the Obama family and the Obama campaign logo.

If Talarico would use his position of influence and authority as a public school teacher to impose leftwing politics onto children, what would he do as a U.S. Senator?

Former Biden Advisor Neera Tanden (left) debates with Federalist Reporter Brianna Lyman (right) on SAVE America Act

During a panel this week on CNN’s News Night with Abby Phillips, Federalist reporter Brianna Lyman destroyed former Biden advisor and Democratic political consultant Neera Tanden by fact-checking her with CNN’s own reporting on support for the SAVE America Act and voter ID requirements.

By the end of the exchange, even left-wing host Abby Phillips agreed with Lyman that the SAVE Act is a common sense bill.

Lyman said the SAVE America Act is an 80-20 issue, but Tanden fired back, claiming that “60 percent of people are opposed to it,” and the legislation would require “people to have passports or their birth certificates.” Even if it were true, this is a reasonable requirement for proving you are a citizen of the United States.

Under the bill, at least five forms of identification are accepted as documentary proof of citizenship, including a driver’s license.

Lyman responded to Tande’s claims, citing a 2024 Gallup poll that showed 83% of Americans, including two-thirds of Democrats, support voter ID.

CNN has even reported on this polling, with Jake Tapper calling Schumer out on CNN last month, noting that “83% of the American people, including a majority of Democrats, support voter ID laws.”

But Tanden bizarrely replied, “The SAVE Act is not voter ID. That’s my point,” sparking a back-and-forth in which Lyman noted that it is extremely easy to obtain one’s birth certificate. “It takes about 10 minutes. You could request your birth certificate. They mail it to you,” said Lyman. “The next question becomes lots of poll tax. I think Republicans should come up with a compromise and say we will give you a tax rebate if you paid for that.”

Abby Phillips then chimed in, calling a tax rebate a “good compromise” for the SAVE America Act. Still, it with or without a tax rebate, there is no excuse for a person to have an ID, which is necessary to buy alcohol and tobacco, drive a car, and board flights in the US. The supposed “poll tax” concern is just another BS excuse to oppose free and fair elections.

Tanden continued trying to talk over Lyman, arguing that people shouldn’t have to get their birth certificates. “First of all, you’re making it seem like everybody’s missing their birth certificate. That’s not true,” Lyman responded to the bogus argument.

WATCH:

Lyman: This is legislation that is extremely popular. It’s an 80-20 issue for Republicans, Democrats, independents, and it’s common sense election integrity.

Tanden: Actually, it’s not an 80-20 issue when you actually described the SAVE Act, which requires people to have passports or their birth certificates. 60 percent of people are opposed to it.

Lyman: As for this not being an 80-20 issue, that’s incorrect. A 2024 Gallup poll, 84 percent of adults favor photo ID, 83 percent favor documentary proof of citizenship to register. That’s 66 percent of Democrats, 84 percent of independents, 96 percent of GOP. A 2025 August poll, 83 percent of adults favor voter ID. Also, you talked about —

Tanden: The SAVE Act is not voter ID. That’s my point.

Lyman: It is voter ID and documentary proof of citizenship, which Gallup poll literally scored. Second of all, you mentioned birth records. There is a thing called vital check, which 45 states have. The other five states require you to go through their own state databases. And you could – it takes about 10 minutes. You could request your birth certificate. They mail it to you. The next question becomes lots of poll tax. I think Republicans should come up with a compromise and say we will give you a tax rebate if you paid for that.

(CROSSTALK)

Lyman: First of all you’re making it seem like everybody’s missing their birth certificate. That’s not true. Last but not least, when it comes to women —

Phillip: That’s a good compromise. I mean, look, I do think that attempts to actually address concerns about this legislation would be useful here.

Don Lemon: CNN Shouldn’t Try to be More Centrist Because Conservatives Will Never Watch a ‘Factual News Organization’ (VIDEO)

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

Former CNN host Don Lemon was recently speaking at an event where he suggested that CNN should not even bother trying to be more centrist because people on the right will never watch a ‘factual news organization.’

Every once in a while people like Lemon reveal just how utterly delusional they really are. It is amazing that he was able to say this with a straight face.

Calling CNN factual is like calling MSNOW conservative. It’s just a straight-up denial of reality.

The only person on CNN who ever tells the truth is Scott Jennings, and if he had his own show in primetime, there are people on the right who would watch it. In fact, it’d probably be their top rated show.

Mediaite has details:

Ex-CNN star Don Lemon said soon-to-be CNN owner David Ellison is crazy to believe the cable news channel can win more viewers by covering stories from a centrist or right-of-center viewpoint, with Lemon saying MAGA voters are not interested in watching a “factual news network.”

He shared his take on CNN’s parent company Warner Bros. Discovery being bought by Paramount Skydance and what it means for his old channel during an interview with Bulwark podcast host Tim Miller on Saturday. The interview was part of the fifth annual New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University.

Lemon said he was talking to frequent CNN guest and Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary recently about CNN changing its slant. O’Leary said CNN needs to “come to the middle” to win viewers, according to Lemon — and Lemon let him know that idea is foolish.

“You’re out of your mind, that’s never going to happen, are you crazy?” he said. “Those folks are never ever going to watch CNN and they’re never going to watch any network that’s a factual news network.”

Here’s the video:

Like so many people on the left, Don Lemon is simply not operating in reality. He lives in a fantasy world where CNN is factual and balanced, all Republicans are fascists, and Democrats believe in fairness. None of it is true except in Don’s little mind.

Home Grown and Transnational Terrorist Attacks Increasing in US and Europe

Across the United States and Europe, Islamist terrorist attacks are increasing in frequency. Some perpetrators are homegrown violent extremists radicalized domestically by ISIS propaganda and acting without direct foreign instruction.

Others are connected to Shia militant networks linked to Iran, operating either as state-directed proxies or as individuals motivated by Iran-axis grievances.

This common threat environment was activated by the U.S.-Israel war on Iran and the killing of Supreme Leader Khamenei, exploiting radicalized networks already present inside Western countries.

The domestic threat wave began on March 1, 2026, the same day U.S. and Israeli forces launched strikes on Iran, when a U.S. citizen of Senegalese origin opened fire on civilians at a bar in Austin, Texas, killing two people and wounding 14 others before officers killed him.

The shooter, identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, was wearing a sweatshirt that read “Property of Allah” and a shirt bearing an Iranian flag design. Photos of Iranian leaders were found at his home.

On March 7, two men traveled from Bucks County, Pennsylvania to New York City with improvised explosive devices and attempted to detonate them at a protest outside Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the city’s mayor.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch identified the suspects as Emir Balat, 18, and Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, and described the incident as an act of ISIS-inspired terrorism.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., Balat ignited and threw a device toward the protest area, then retrieved a second device from Kayumi and dropped it near NYPD officers before being tackled and arrested.

An FBI bomb technician determined both devices were approximately the size of a mason jar, fitted with fuses and packed with nuts and bolts.

The first device contained TATP, triacetone triperoxide, a volatile explosive used in multiple terrorist attacks over the past decade.

After his arrest, Balat wrote a statement pledging allegiance to the Islamic State and declared he wanted to carry out an attack bigger than the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Kayumi told police he watched ISIS propaganda on his phone and considered himself affiliated with the group. A notebook recovered from Balat listed alternative targets including shopping centers.

Investigators found that Balat had traveled to Istanbul from May to August 2025 and returned to the U.S. from Turkey in January 2026.

Kayumi had also traveled to Istanbul in summer 2024 and to Saudi Arabia in March of that year. Both suspects face five federal counts including use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted provision of material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

NYPD officials stated there was no evidence the attack was connected to the war in Iran, noting that ISIS is a Sunni extremist organization with no operational relationship to the Shia Iranian government.

On March 8, an IED exploded outside the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, damaging the entrance to the consular section but causing no injuries.

Norwegian police arrested three brothers, all Norwegian citizens of Iraqi heritage in their 20s, on suspicion of a terrorist bombing.

Police lawyer Christian Hatlo said the brothers were suspected of deliberately targeting the embassy with the intention of killing or causing serious harm and that none had previously come to police attention.

One brother has admitted to placing the device; the others deny involvement. Shortly after the blast, the embassy’s Google Maps page was hacked and a video of the late Ayatollah Khamenei was posted with text in Farsi reading, “God is great. We are victorious.”

Investigators stated they were working from the hypothesis that the attack could have been an order from a government entity.

Norway’s security service PST had warned the previous month that Iran could use criminal networks as proxy actors to carry out operations on its behalf. Iran’s ambassador to Oslo denied any involvement.

On March 9, a predawn blast damaged a synagogue in Liège, Belgium, blowing out the door and windows of the 120-year-old building, which also serves as a museum for the city’s Jewish community.

On March 11, a previously unknown organization calling itself the Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right claimed responsibility, releasing a video appearing to show masked men detonating a device in front of the synagogue.

The group’s name, logo, and dissemination network, circulated via Telegram channels supporting Iran’s Axis of Resistance, resemble those of Iraqi armed groups and Hezbollah.

On March 10, two men fired a handgun at the exterior of the U.S. Consulate in Toronto, Canada, before fleeing. No one was injured. Toronto police are treating it as a national security incident, not ruling out a link to a recent string of synagogue shootings in the city.

On March 12, Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Virginia National Guardsman and convicted ISIS supporter, entered an ROTC classroom at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, asked if it was an ROTC class, and when someone answered yes, opened fire, killing Lt. Col. Brandon Shah and wounding two others.

Jalloh shouted “Allahu Akbar” before the attack, according to FBI Special Agent in Charge Dominique Evans. ROTC students in the room subdued Jalloh; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In 2016, Jalloh had pleaded guilty to attempting to provide material support to ISIS, including traveling to North Carolina to procure an AK-47 for what prosecutors described as a plot to murder U.S. military personnel, and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The Bureau of Prisons released him in December 2024 under a provision allowing early release for inmates who complete a substance abuse treatment program.

Previous BOP leadership had proposed excluding terrorism-related offenses from that provision, but efforts to update the policy were stalled by the union.

Court records from Jalloh’s original case show he had stated it was better to plan an attack during Ramadan; the ODU attack occurred during Ramadan.

Also on March 12, Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, 41, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Lebanon, rammed his truck through the front entrance of Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and drove it down the hallway before two armed security guards exchanged fire with him.

Ghazali committed suicide by gunshot while still in the vehicle. His body was badly burned when the truck caught fire.

One security guard was struck and injured. All 140 children in the attached preschool were safely evacuated. At least 30 law enforcement officers were hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

Ghazali had entered the United States in 2011 on an immigrant visa as the spouse of a U.S. citizen.

An IDF drone strike on March 5 in his Lebanese hometown of Mashghara had killed two of his brothers, reported to have been part of Hezbollah’s rocket unit, along with two of their children.

Ghazali had been flagged by a government watchlist for contact with suspected Hezbollah members but was not identified as a member.

The Institute for Strategic Dialogue reported in March 2026 that ISIS’s capacity to conduct physical operations in the U.S. remains limited, and the group instead relies on its digital ecosystem to enable self-radicalization and encourage lone-wolf attacks.

In 2025, ISIS supporters carried out two successful attacks in the U.S., the first in eight years, along with five disrupted plots and six arrests for providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.

Of 11 actors across seven incidents in 2025, eight were teenagers, four of them aged 17 or younger, continuing a pattern from 2024 in which six of eight incidents involved at least one teenager.

Law enforcement sources told CBS News that ISIS, al-Qaeda, and pro-Iranian groups have intensified recruiting and calls for violence online over the past 18 months, with efforts stepping up further since the Iran war began.

Iran has a documented history of using proxy organizations and front groups to carry out attacks abroad, sometimes allowing them to appear briefly and disappear after an operation.

Meanwhile, radicalization through social media from Iran, ISIS, and other groups is now taking hold among young naturalized citizens, or in some cases the children of naturalized citizens in the US and Europe.

Although President Trump sealed the border upon resuming office in January 2025, the previous four years under Biden have taken a toll.

Millions of illegals invaded the US, many of them being dangerous criminals with violent histories.

Two men from Nicaragua, who came into the US under Biden, were arrested in Florida after a machete attack, according to police.

The violent attack happened in the city of Arcadia on February 22nd. ICE confirmed they were, in fact, illegally in the United States.

Officers with the Arcadia Police Department responded to a call at SuperMatt Laundry and found a man who had a wound from what appeared to have been caused by a machete.

Border Hawk Exclusive Report:

A pair of Nicaraguan men who were unleashed into the U.S. by the Biden regime are in custody following a machete attack in Florida, authorities say.

The disturbing incident unfolded in Arcadia on Feb. 22, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) just confirmed the statuses of both suspects with Border Hawk this week.

The Arcadia Police Department (APD) said officers responded to a reported physical disturbance at SuperMatt Laundry where they found a male victim suffering from a “significant laceration consistent with a machete wound.”

Both suspects fled, but they were tracked by the DeSoto County Sheriff and the Arcadia Police and were arrested during a traffic stop.

29-year-old Rafael Hurtado-Martinez and 33-year-old Yeri Flores-Salgado were charged with aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon.

Both suspects are in the US illegally. It was reported that Rafael Hurtado-Martinez is currently in custody with ICE in Louisiana.

Yeri Flores-Salgado has been on probation for five years, going back to March 2025, for property damage and vehicle theft, which are both felonies.

Both illegal aliens came to the US through the southern border and were released into the US under the Biden regime’s catch-and-release policy.

Yeri Flores-Salgado is still in custody at Desoto County Jail, without bond, for violating his probation.
