Iran Declares Strait of Hormuz Open to All Nations — Except U.S. and Allies — After Trump Urges World to Send Warships to Secure Vital Oil Route

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to all countries except the United States and its allies.

Iran’s foreign minister announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open to all countries, except the United States, Israel, and their allies.

The declaration comes after President Donald Trump urged nations around the globe to send warships to the region to ensure that the critical shipping lane remains open and safe.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump made it crystal clear:

“Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe.

We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are.

Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated.

In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!”

In an exclusive interview with MS NOW on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed the waterway remains open to “neutral” countries but will be restricted to vessels belonging to what Tehran calls “enemy nations,” specifically the United States and Israel.

Abbas Araghchi: “Well, as a matter of fact, the Strait of Hormuz is open. It is only closed to the tankers and ships belonging to our enemies—those who are attacking us and their allies. Others are free to pass. Of course, many of them prefer not to because of their security concerns. This has nothing to do with us.

At the same time, there are many tankers and ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. I can say that the strait is not closed, but it is closed only to American-Israeli ships and tankers, not to others.”

WATCH:

Iran’s announcement effectively amounts to a direct challenge to the United States and the international order governing maritime transit.

By claiming it can decide which countries are allowed to use one of the world’s most important shipping lanes, Tehran is attempting to weaponize global energy flows.

Trump and U.S. officials have made clear that such a move will not be tolerated.

If Iran follows through on its threat, the Strait of Hormuz, already the epicenter of global tensions, could quickly become the flashpoint for a much wider confrontation.

Ric Grenell Steps Down as President of Trump’s Kennedy Center

Richard Grenell is stepping down as president of the Trump Kennedy Center, marking the end of a combative and closely watched chapter in President Donald Trump’s effort to reclaim one of the nation’s premier cultural institutions from entrenched left-wing rot.

President Trump announced Friday that Grenell will transition out of the role, while Matt Floca, the center’s vice president of facilities operations, is set to take over as chief operating officer and executive director.

Reuters reported the change is expected to be formalized at a board meeting Monday at the White House.

Trump wrote on Truth Social:

I am pleased to announce that Matt Floca, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, will be named the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, of THE TRUMP KENNEDY CENTER where, as Vice President of Operations, Matt has helped us achieve tremendous progress in bringing the Center to the highest level of Excellence!

A Complete Reconstruction of THE TRUMP KENNEDY CENTER will begin after the July 4th Celebration, with a scheduled Grand Re-Opening in approximately two years.

Ric Grenell has done an excellent job in helping to coordinate various elements of the Center during the transition period, and I want to thank him for the outstanding work he has done. THE TRUMP KENNEDY CENTER will be, at its completion, the finest facility of its kind anywhere in the World!

Grenell was brought in after Trump moved aggressively to shake up the Kennedy Center’s leadership, install allies on the board, and put the institution on a new ideological path. Trump had named Grenell to lead daily operations in February 2025, saying the longtime loyalist shared his vision for a “Golden Age” of American arts and culture and making clear that the era of taxpayer-subsidized woke programming was over.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Trump’s message at the time was unmistakable: no more drag shows and no more anti-American propaganda masquerading as art.

And Grenell wasted no time exposing what he said was a financial mess. As Gateway Pundit reported last year, Grenell revealed that the Kennedy Center had “zero cash on hand” and “zero in reserves,” while deferred maintenance had become a full-blown crisis.

He said staff had been relying on debt reserves just to keep the institution functioning, painting a picture of a once-prestigious cultural center hollowed out by years of mismanagement.

Months later, Gateway Pundit also highlighted Grenell’s claim that a budget review uncovered $26 million in what he described as “phantom revenue” or “fake revenue,” which he said would be referred to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Now Grenell is stepping aside after more than a year on the front lines of that battle.

Ex-Dem Sen. Sinema Admits to Sleeping With His Married Bodyguard in 5 Different Cities Before He Left His Wife, According to Shocking Court Docs

Former Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema is facing explosive allegations after newly filed court documents revealed she admitted to carrying on a sexual relationship with her married bodyguard in multiple cities across the United States while she was still serving in public office.

According to sworn filings submitted in federal court, Sinema acknowledged that her relationship with security officer Matthew Ammel became “romantic and intimate” in 2024, months before he separated from his wife, AP reported.

The stunning admission came as Sinema attempts to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Ammel’s ex-wife, who accuses the former senator of destroying her 14-year marriage under North Carolina’s “alienation of affection” law, a statute that allows spouses to sue third parties for interfering in their marriage.

In the sworn declaration, Sinema laid out a timeline of encounters that reportedly took place in at least five different cities across the country.

According to the filing, the two were first physically intimate in May 2024 while Ammel was on a security detail with Sinema in Sonoma, California. The relationship then allegedly continued with additional encounters in:

  • New York City
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Aspen, Colorado
  • Phoenix, Arizona

Court records indicate the pair were intimate at least six times across those locations before Ammel eventually separated from his wife later that year.

More from Fox News:

The complaint accused Sinema of engaging in “intentional and malicious interference” in Ammel’s marriage and sought $25,000 in damages from Sinema as a result of allegedly “willful and wanton” conduct.

Neither the motion to dismiss, nor the sworn declaration Sinema submitted to the court, seeks to dispute the nature of her affair with Ammel — described as both “romantic and intimate.”

Rather, the filings argue that the case should be dropped because the communications in question occurred “exclusively outside” the boundaries of the Tar Heel state.

Combined, the new filings leave little to the imagination regarding the nature of the affair between Sinema and Ammel, which began in May 2024 in Sonoma, Calif., and involved months of phone calls, emails, and Signal messages, in addition to various romantic relations in cities across the U.S.

[…]

In order to succeed in the lawsuit, plaintiffs in an “alienation of affection” lawsuit must prove to the court three things: First, that the marriage had real affection and a viable relationship before any third-party involvement; second, that the “love and affection” were destroyed, or significantly diminished; and that the defendant directly “caused the destruction of that marital love and affection.”

President Trump BLASTS ‘Fake News Media’ for Misleading Reports Claiming Iranian Strike Crippled Five U.S. Air Force Refueling Planes in Saudi Arabia

A US Air Force KC-135 refuels an F-16 Fighting Falcon (U.S. Air Force)

The Fake News Cartel, led by the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, rushed out misleading headlines claiming five U.S. Air Force refueling planes were “hit” and left useless after an Iranian missile strike on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, five Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft were reportedly damaged while parked on the ground at Prince Sultan Air Base (PSAB) in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia.

The outlet cited two U.S. officials who said the aircraft were hit during an Iranian missile strike targeting the base in recent days.

The KC-135 aircraft, which are essential for mid-air refueling operations supporting U.S. and allied fighter jets, reportedly suffered limited damage and are expected to return to service after repairs. Importantly, no American personnel were reported killed or injured in the strike.

President Donald Trump wasn’t having any of it.

Just hours after the dishonest reports dropped, the Commander-in-Chief took to Truth Social and obliterated the lying press for intentionally trying to paint America as weak and vulnerable under his watch.

President Trump set the record straight with a powerful Truth Social post:

“Yet again, an intentionally misleading headline by the Fake News Media about the five tanker planes that were supposedly struck down at an Airport in Saudi Arabia, and of no further use.

In actuality, the Base was hit a few days ago, but the planes were not “struck” or “destroyed.” Four of the five had virtually no damage, and are already back in service.

One had slightly more damage, but will be in the air shortly. None were destroyed, or close to that, as the Fake News said in headlines.

The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal (in particular), and other Lowlife “Papers” and Media actually want us to lose the War.

Their terrible reporting is the exact opposite of the actual facts! They are truly sick and demented people that have no idea the damage they cause the United States of America.

Fortunately, as proven by our Great and Conclusive Election Win in 2024, the People of our Country understand what is happening far better than the Fake News Media!”

NUCLEAR Target List LEAKED — 15 Cities Targeted…

A nuclear historian’s chilling analysis reveals that 15 American cities—from small communities near missile silos to economic powerhouses—would face immediate destruction in a World War III scenario, with adversaries strategically targeting our military command centers and energy infrastructure to cripple America’s ability to defend itself.

Military Installations Create Target Zones

Alex Wellerstein, a nuclear historian at Stevens Institute of Technology and creator of the NUKEMAP analysis tool, identified 15 cities facing immediate danger based on their proximity to critical military assets. Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana houses B-52 nuclear bombers, making it a prime target for adversaries seeking to eliminate America’s strategic bombing capability. Francis E. Warren Air Force Base near Cheyenne, Wyoming and Malmstrom Air Force Base near Great Falls, Montana host Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile silos, representing America’s ground-based nuclear deterrent. Colorado Springs faces particular vulnerability due to NORAD and Peterson Space Force Base, which coordinate continental defense operations.

https://youtu.be/sDa_Ws9yy0c?si=jAt3AcEJzqRRhl9c

Energy and Economic Centers in the Crosshairs

Houston’s status as America’s energy capital places it squarely in enemy crosshairs, with its nuclear plants, refineries, and major port facilities representing strategic economic targets. Chicago’s vulnerability stems from hosting six nuclear power plants alongside its role as a transportation hub connecting America’s heartland. Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle face threats due to their combination of major ports, technology sectors, and defense installations. Naval Base Kitsap near Seattle stores nuclear weapons and houses submarine forces critical to America’s sea-based deterrent. These cities represent the economic engine that funds American military superiority, making them attractive targets for adversaries seeking maximum disruption.

Command Centers and Symbolic Targets

Washington, DC and New York City top the list for their symbolic and functional importance to American governance and economic power. The Pentagon, White House, and federal agencies in Washington represent the nerve center of military command and control. Wall Street and the United Nations in New York symbolize American economic dominance and international influence. Omaha, Nebraska houses Offutt Air Force Base, home to nuclear command operations coordinating America’s strategic forces. Albuquerque’s Kirtland Air Force Base stores significant portions of America’s nuclear stockpile. Wellerstein notes that while Russia would prioritize military targets to disable retaliation capability, rogue actors might focus on population centers and symbolic locations to maximize terror and casualties.

Geographic Isolation Compounds Risk

Honolulu faces unique vulnerability due to Pearl Harbor and Hickam Air Force Base, combined with Hawaii’s geographic isolation limiting evacuation options. Residents near targeted bases confront harsh realities about survival prospects, with mountainous terrain and water barriers restricting escape routes from blast zones. Wellerstein’s analysis suggests a strike on Ogden-Clearfield, Utah near Hill Air Force Base could kill over 87,000 people, demonstrating how proximity to the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center creates catastrophic civilian exposure. The concentration of critical military assets near population centers reflects Cold War-era strategic planning that prioritized deterrence over dispersal, a calculation that may warrant reevaluation given modern threats and civilian safety concerns.

Deterrence Through Strength Remains Essential

This analysis underscores why President Trump’s commitment to rebuilding American military dominance and modernizing our nuclear arsenal serves as the ultimate insurance policy against such scenarios. The Biden administration’s weakness and focus on woke military priorities left America vulnerable, but renewed strength through peace provides the deterrence that protects these cities and their residents. While hypothetical, Wellerstein’s mapping demonstrates the real-world consequences of allowing adversaries to perceive American weakness or hesitation. The solution isn’t dismantling the military infrastructure that makes us targets—it’s ensuring our capability remains so overwhelming that enemies never dare test our resolve. Americans living near these installations should take pride that their communities host the forces keeping tyranny at bay worldwide.

The Economist Blasted with Flurry of Posts for Bemoaning Death of Murderous Ayatollah

Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was recently killed in joint military operations by the United States and Israel.

While sentiment on the Iran war certainly varies, most would at least agree that the death of the 86-year-old Islamic cleric — who led a regime known for killing its own people and funding terrorism elsewhere in the world — is not an occasion to lose sleep or shed a tear.

But some left-wing media outlets — like The Economist — instead bemoaned the Supreme Leader’s fiery demise.

The British news and current affairs journal published an article about the late Khamenei which, at some points, offered an oddly sympathetic sketch of his life.

“Increasingly, over the course of three decades, Ali Khamenei knew that he was personally in the Great Satan’s sights,” The Economist’s post of the article on X said.

The Iranian regime uses the term “Great Satan” in reference to the United States.

“This did not daunt him. He felt, always, that he had divine right on his side,” the post added.

Thousands of social media users instantly noticed the absurdity of sympathizing with the Islamic dictator.

“Did he feel that right before impact?” conservative commentator and former Virginia state lawmaker Nick Freitas asked.

“How did that work out?” National Review senior editor Charles C. W. Cooke inquired.

“What’s he feeling now?” a third post questioned, alongside a picture depicting Khamenei’s lifeless body in a pile of rubble.

The Economist was not the only outlet to apparently downplay the evil of Khamenei in recent days.

One paragraph from The Washington Post’s piece about his death described him as having a “bushy white beard and easy smile.”

That depiction likewise raised eyebrows.

“If Trump died today, they would write nothing even remotely this nice about him. We all know it,” commentator Matt Van Swol said.

“You don’t hate the media enough,” a second user added.

The Liberal Washington Post Complains That Republicans Are ‘Painting James Talarico as a Radical’

The liberal media uses terms like ‘Republicans seize’ and ‘Republicans pounce’ so often that they have become a running gag among conservatives.

In this case, the liberal Washington Post is complaining because Republicans are ‘painting’ James Talarico as a radical. Talarico is the left wing nut who Democrats have nominated for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas.

All Republicans are doing is sharing videos of Talarico speaking in his own words. It is not the fault of conservatives that Talarico believes that God is nonbinary or that displaying the Ten Commandments in schools is violence. These are his positions in his words.

Quoting his own words is painting him as a radical? Whatever.

From the Washington Post:

GOP, fearing tough fight for Texas Senate seat, paints Democrat as radical

Fearing a tougher-than-expected race for one of Texas’s two Senate seats, Republicans are trying to cast Democratic candidate James Talarico as a radical leftist out of step with voters.

They have resurfaced videos of Talarico’s past comments, including one in which the state representative declares that “God is nonbinary.” His two potential GOP opponents — who are headed to a bitter runoff in May — have shared sound bites of Talarico speaking on border security and attacked him for supporting trans rights.

National Republicans ratcheted up their attacks this week with a digital ad that shows an artificial-intelligence-generated Talarico reading similar, years-old social media posts about pronouns and “radicalized white men.”

The torrent of videos Republicans are resurfacing across social media points to how they will try to erode that image and paint Talarico as something very different: a liberal wolf in Christian sheep’s clothing.

“James Talarico thinks ‘God is nonbinary’ and wants to lay a welcome mat on our southern border,” said Samantha Cantrell, a spokeswoman for Senate Republicans’ campaign arm, which made the AI-generated ad and has shared other video clips. “He is radically out of touch with Texans, and they will not vote for this in November.”

Talarico has not directly addressed his past comments but instead said the attacks are part of a well-worn Republican playbook.

James Talarico said in an interview that he loves trans kids. Is that Republicans painting him as radical or is he doing that all on his own?

Talarico is a total wingnut and he has painted himself that way. He needs no assistance from Republicans.

Virginia Democrats Already Pushing Sweeping Gun Control After Being in Office for Barely a Month

Screencap of YouTube video.

It begins. Democrats in Virginia have been in power for barely a month and they are already pushing sweeping new gun control laws.

To make matters worse, they are doing this at a time when the country has seen four terrorist attacks on the homeland in the span of just two weeks. God forbid the American people are able to defend themselves from all of the potential terrorists that Democrats imported into the country on Joe Biden’s watch.

This is all about control.

FOX News reports:

Virginia Dems send sweeping gun ban to Spanberger as West Virginia weighs expanding machine-gun access

Virginia Democrats have sent a sweeping gun-control package to Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s desk, while West Virginia lawmakers are debating the opposite approach — a proposal that would allow residents to lawfully obtain machine guns.

The dueling efforts highlight how sharply gun policy is diverging across the old Virginia border. More than 160 years after West Virginia split from Virginia during the Civil War, the two states are again charting very different political paths — with Democrats in Richmond advancing new firearm restrictions while Republicans in Charleston explore expanding Second Amendment rights.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger signaled she looks forward to “reviewing” the sweeping firearms ban from state Sen. Saddam Salim, D-Dunn Loring, when it reaches her desk next week.

“As the mother of three daughters in Virginia public schools and a former federal law enforcement officer who carried a gun every day, Governor Spanberger knows how important it is to make sure kids and families are safe,” Spanberger’s office said in a statement to Richmond’s ABC affiliate.

“The governor is grateful for the efforts of legislators and advocates to address gun violence in Virginia communities, and she looks forward to reviewing all legislation that comes to her desk.”

Some pro-gun activists in the state have responded by handing out free AR-15 magazines.

Spanberger and other members of her party ran as centrists on the issue of affordability. The minute they took power they revealed themselves to be the leftists that they actually are.

It will be fascinating to see how long it takes for the people of Virginia to realize they were duped by these frauds.

The Talarico Two-Step

The Talarico Two-Step

Could a young Texas Democrat threaten the GOP’s grip on the Senate?

James Talarico campaign mlc0510.jpg

There are good reasons to believe Texas will, as it almost always does, send a Republican to the United States Senate this November.

Never mind the electoral ramifications of an explosive, expensive, and completely unnecessary war with Iran. Never mind the price of gas at the pump, rising as a blockade strangles the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. bombers torch Iran’s oil fields. Never mind the heated, problematic Republican Senate primary that is headed to a costly and performative runoff unless President Donald Trump can convince one of two bullheaded men to drop out and save everyone a whole lot of time and resources. At the end of the day, it’s still Texas. Longhorns run it. Oil men run it. Cattle men run it. Most importantly, Democrats rarely run it.

It’s been nearly 40 years since a Democrat won a Senate seat in the Lone Star State, when Lloyd Bentsen bested Beau Boulter in the 1988 U.S. Senate election. Bentsen wasn’t a Democrat in the modern sense. He was pro-business, argued for tax cuts, and spoke in support of a strong national defense. He belonged to an older coalition of conservative Democrats that still ruled large swaths of the South before political realignment shifted many of his voters toward the Republican Party while the Democrats opted for a more progressive direction socially and politically.

The closest any Democrat has come to winning a Senate seat in Texas since Bentsen was the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed Beto O’Rourke, who lost to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) by less than 3 percentage points in 2018. By 2024, Cruz had consolidated support, defeating the Democratic nominee Colin Allred by a whopping 8 points. With Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) easily securing victory in each of his four Senate campaigns since 2002, Texas appeared to be firmly in the hands of the Republicans.

But Democrat James Talarico, an articulate 36-year-old from Round Rock, Texas, may be the most credible threat Texas Republicans have faced in a generation. Though Talarico’s outward appearance is boyish, he has already served four terms in the Texas House of Representatives, where he earned the distinction of being an introspective, measured, and policy-driven progressive among a sea of vocal culture warriors.

In September 2025, with little name recognition outside the state, the young Democrat announced his intention to challenge Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) to become the Democratic Party’s Senate nominee. Crockett held early advantages. The outspoken representative from Dallas had already established herself as a fierce critic of the Trump administration who could leverage her fundraising network, her talent for political combat, and the important black vote in Texas’s urban centers to propel her to the nomination.

But Talarico possessed a quality that stood in stark contrast to the bombastic Crockett—an air of humility. While Crockett has built her brand as a defiant voice against the MAGA wing of the Republican Party, Talarico has carved out a profile as an introspective Christian who bases political calculations on his Christian faith as much as his resistance to the mercurial messaging of Trump. And while Crockett has become daily fodder for the Boomer braintrust at Fox News, the attack line on Talarico is thinner and more opaque because of the gentle mannerisms displayed by the young Texan.

That hasn’t stopped right-wing pundits from attempting to tear him down. Some have labeled Talarico “too woke” for Texas, a claim he quickly dismissed in a Friday morning interview on MS NOW. “What do American people care more about—pronouns or prices?” Talarico responded defiantly. Others have argued he’s “too white” for the Democratic Party, a theory Talarico put to rest when he handily defeated Crockett, a black woman. And Senate Republicans, desperate to belittle Talarico, even went as far as to publish an artificial intelligence deepfake video of Talarico on X that was panned by independent viewers.

While Talarico deflected early critiques, Republican operatives have escalated their attacks, digging into old statements and videos such as when Talarico called God “non-binary.” In another clip, Talarico claims that “Jesus Christ himself was a radical feminist.” And even worse by their standards is a video showing Talarico arguing for abortion rights for the transgender community. For a political movement built on traditional social values, Republicans view Talarico as the final result of progressivism gone awry.

But soundbites do not make the man. Talarico proved as much in an early-campaign interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, one of the social media figures credited with propelling Trump to the presidency in 2024. In the nearly three-hour conversation, Talarico contextualized the GOP clips, arguing his points through a faith-driven perspective that sat at stark odds with the drive-by hit pieces found on X. And Rogan, known for tuning out partisan noise, responded positively—a reminder that Talarico can reach voters outside the usual Democratic base. And that is exactly what Talarico will have to accomplish if he wants to become the first blue senator from Texas in nearly half a century. But appealing to moderates while energizing the progressive base is what got Talarico to this point.

In the primary contest against Crockett, Talarico dominated the Hispanic vote, besting the Congresswoman in Latino-majority districts across the state. In El Paso, a county where Hispanics make up 80 percent of the vote, Talarico earned 62 percent of the vote. In Bexar County, another Hispanic-dominated region that includes the city of San Antonio, Talarico earned 57 percent of the count despite the majority of black voters selecting Crockett. He fared even better in the southern counties along the U.S.–Mexico border, winning several by double digits.

Talarico swept Hidalgo County after he formed an alliance with Bobby Pulido, a Tejano music star who won the Democratic primary running as an outsider in the 15th Congressional District of Texas. Though some have suggested Talarico’s comments about Christianity will drive Hispanic voters away from Talarico, the numbers prove a very different reality. If Talarico struggled anywhere, it was among the urban, black demographics that overwhelmingly voted in favor of Crockett.

Crockett, who initially refused to accept the primary election results, quietly conceded the morning after the election was called. She had won major parts of Dallas, Houston, and Austin, but failed to curry favor among not only the Latinos who make up 40 percent of the Texas electorate, but also the more moderate white voters who sprang for Talarico. When asked if he would welcome Crockett’s support, Talarico said he would be “honored” and noted the congresswoman had expressed an interest in giving it.

But what should concern Conservatives most about Talarico isn’t just that he is consolidating the three major demographics required to win the general election in Texas, it’s the astonishing number of voters who showed up to cast votes in the Democratic primary. With 92 percent of estimated votes counted, more than 2.3 million Texans cast ballots in the Senate primary, the highest number of votes ever recorded in a Texas Senate Democratic primary. The contest between Talarico and Crockett more than doubled the average turnout rates for Texas Senate Democratic primaries in the 21st century.

The numbers must have unnerved White House officials as much as its online cohort of influencers who spent the better part of the past week whining about the “woke” uprising in Texas. Trump, who is yet to decide between endorsing the MAGA-adjacent Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton or the incumbent Sen. Cornyn, decided to instead attack Talarico during an audio appearance on Brian Kilmeade’s show Friday morning. “He’s grossly incompetent.” Trump said. “He is so woke. He is beyond woke.”

Beyond woke. Truly terrifying stuff, Mr. President! The Trump administration is waging a feckless, indulgent war in the Middle East. Gas is spiking, foreclosures are surging, and unemployment continues to rise. Desperate farmers across the nation are wondering whether they’ll make it to the end of the season as fertilizer prices spiral upward. In a time of war, when the already battered economy is gasping for air, Trump is busy mouthing the dogmas of America’s unending culture war.

If Talarico can continue to consolidate Hispanic, moderate, and progressive voters, November could see the Texas political landscape tested in ways few expected, including Trump, who is suddenly on the attack in a race that many considered smooth sailing for Republicans just a few short weeks ago. If Trump can’t convince Cornyn or Paxton to drop out of what would be a 12-week runoff campaign, Talarico is poised to gain significant ground as the Republicans attempt to sort out a potentially chaotic and nasty primary election.

Talarico appears two steps away from making the Texas Senate race a serious competition. Step One: consolidate the progressive base, turning out young, urban, and Latino voters who rarely see a Democrat they can get behind. Step Two: appeal to the moderates and swing voters in the suburbs, the white and independent voters who usually keep Texas red. If Talarico can execute both steps, he won’t just be challenging tradition, he could force Texas to reconsider what a Senate race in the Lone Star State really looks like for years to come.
