War Secretary Pete Hegseth will deliver a press briefing with Air Force General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as the war in Iran closes its second week.

This comes amid reports from Iranian TV and other outlets that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei, was wounded as US and Israeli strikes continue to bombard Iran.

Iran’s new Supreme Leader issued a lengthy written statement, which was read out by Iranian state TV, but he did not make a televised appearance, as reports suggest that his injuries are severe.

“He is understood to have lost at least one leg in the incident and is believed to have sustained severe internal injuries, possibly to his stomach or liver,” GBN reports, noting that he may even be in a coma, according to sources.

THE INVISIBLE AYATOLLAH: Mojtaba Khamenei Still Nowhere To Be Seen, as Reports Suggest He Has ‘Lost a Leg’ and Is ‘In a Coma’

Khamenei’s statement calls for “all nations of the Resistance Front,” neighboring countries in Iran’s proxy network, to utilize the “leverage of closing the Strait of Hormuz” and exact revenge on behalf of the “martyrs” of Iran.

Meanwhile, Israeli and US strikes have continued on Iran, targeting infrastructure and military sites, including drone and missile capabilities.

The press briefing is scheduled to begin at 8 am ET.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was abruptly pulled from a live televised interview with Sky News on Thursday to attend an emergency meeting in the White House Situation Room.

The interruption occurred while Bessent was speaking with Wilfred Frost.

Just as the conversation was heating up, an aide approached the Secretary and delivered the bombshell: “Mr. Secretary, the President wants you in the Situation Room.”

Both Bessent and Frost were visibly surprised by the timing.

Turning back to Frost, Bessent apologized before abruptly leaving the interview.

After a tense two-hour absence, a focused and determined Secretary Bessent returned to resume the discussion.

Frost:
Mr. Secretary, I have to say it’s a first—I’m sure, a last as well—that an interview has been pulled away so you could go to the Situation Room. How was the President? Was he stressed?

Sec. Bessent:
No, the President is in great spirits. The Iranian mission is proceeding well ahead of schedule. I have to tell you, Wilf, that if I were a teenager considering military service, I could give this team my highest compliment—from President Trump to the head of the Joint Chiefs to the Secretary of War. I would say that I would trust my child’s life in their hands.

WATCH:

Bessent also revealed what the administration has been discussing in the Situation Room.

Sec. Bessent:
It is my belief that, as soon as it is militarily possible, the U.S. Navy—perhaps with an international coalition—will be escorting vessels through.

Frost:
And that came up just now in the Situation Room?

Sec. Bessent:
Your words, not mine.

Frost:
Are we days away from that?

Sec. Bessent:
We’ve been planning for this. We’ve done scenario analysis for months, and for weeks leading into this.

Frost:
But it’s a prospect in the coming days, then?

Sec. Bessent:
It is a prospect as soon as we have complete control of the skies and continue degrading their capabilities. They have no Air Force. The Navy is sunk—literally and figuratively. The munitions factories and the rebuilding capabilities for the missiles are completely degraded. As soon as it is possible to ensure safe passage, we will do so.

UPDATE: ROTC Students at Old Dominion Beat Shooter to Death With Their Bare Hands (VIDEO)

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

When a shooter attacked at Old Dominion University today, he managed to kill at least one person and injure others, but he didn’t last long.

According to an update from the FBI, ROTC students leapt into action and ‘subdued’ the attacker until he was no longer drawing breath. In other words, they killed him by beating him to death with their bare hands. This was just confirmed.

It seems like a fitting end for the attacker, doesn’t it?

NBC News reports:

ROTC students at Old Dominion University subdued and killed shooter who left 1 dead, 2 hurt

A former Army National Guard member who had spent eight years in prison for attempting to aid the Islamic State opened fire on a classroom at Virginia’s Old Dominion University on Thursday before ROTC students subdued and killed him, authorities said.

He had yelled “Allahu Akbar” before the shooting, which left one person dead and two wounded, according to the FBI.

Dominique Evans, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Norfolk field office, said at a news conference that the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps students showed “extreme bravery and courage” and prevented further loss of life by stopping the gunman, Mohamed Bailor Jalloh.

The students subdued him and “rendered him no longer alive,” Evans said. “I don’t know how else to say it.” She confirmed Jalloh wasn’t shot but didn’t provide further details.

The campus shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism, FBI Director Kash Patel said on social media.

Watch the video below:

Perhaps Trump should consider inviting these ROTC students to the White House.

Will Restore Britain Be Reform’s Spoiler?

Will Restore Britain Be Reform’s Spoiler?

The quirks of the British electoral system mean that even a small showing from the splinter party could damage Nigel Farage’s prospects.

Reform UK MP for Great Yarmouth Rupert Lowe speaks during
UK Special Coverage

A new political party has been launched on the British right: Restore Britain, founded by Rupert Lowe, MP for Great Yarmouth and the beneficiary of Elon Musk’s enthusiastic reposts. It is the latest offshoot from Reform UK, Nigel Farage’s right-wing party, which is leading the British opinion polls.

Restore Britain is an interesting development. Until recently, Nigel Farage’s Reform UK appeared to be on track to secure a hegemonic position on the British right: cannibalizing the rest of the Conservative Party’s vote and squashing the various populist outfits to his right like Advance UK and UKIP (which continues under an anti-Farage banner these days).

This raises a few interesting questions: What does Restore Britain believe, do they threaten Reform UK, and is X real life?

Restore Britain has been founded as a right-wing challenger to Reform. Its supporters believe that Reform under Farage has become a successor to the Conservative Party in instinct, rhetoric, and personnel. The new party is making deportations, demographics, identity, and religion central planks of its agenda.

When one digs a little deeper into its stated beliefs, however, Restore offers a remarkably similar policy platform to Reform, despite much harder rhetoric on issues like deportations, Islam, and Christianity. Both parties are committed to immigration control, the rapid removal of all illegal immigrants and many lower-earning legal immigrants, and the overhaul of human rights law to make this possible. If immigration is the most important issue for the British right today—and opinion polling of Reform-inclined voters consistently suggests it is—both Restore and Reform seem to be offering similarly robust policies to deal with it.

Much has been made online of the fact that Farage has shied away from the terminology of “mass deportations.” Indeed, Farage has distanced himself from the term. He even said that Lowe’s enthusiasm for it was one of the reasons why he was ejected from Reform UK in 2025, which has been taken as a sign that he is not committed to ending and reversing mass immigration in Britain. Clips from an interview with Winston Marshall from 2024 in which he warns against alienating Muslim voters have been shared as further proof of this.

In the wake of the Gorton and Denton by-election, in which the Green Party caused a huge upset by taking the seat off Labour after running Britain’s hitherto most explicit islamogauchiste campaign, the potency of this particular issue has only increased. Some have even claimed that Reform’s failure to win this particular election—the party’s candidate Matt Goodwin came second, securing 29 percent of the vote—is proof that Reform UK’s weakness on immigration and Islam is leading to disillusioned, right wing voters to either abstain from voting or seek alternatives to Reform. This is a total misunderstanding of the profile of the voters in this seat, the historic strength of Labour in the area, and the views of non-voters.

There is a lot to unpack here.

First: Islam. This is an animating issue on the British right, and it has intensified throughout the 21st century. Farage has been demonized by the British left for decades for alleged racism and islamophobia, and this has grown louder and sharper as he has become more popular. But he has always walked a narrow path between populism and conservatism, making nods and signals to anti-Islam sentiment—recently pledging to ban the Muslim Brotherhood, for example—while avoiding attacking British Muslims as a group. Farage has been in politics for a long time, and spent years in the wilderness, steadily building the case to leave the European Union and attempting to defend his Euroskeptic movement against infiltration from the far right. Despite his caution, he has been a consistent supporter of the late Enoch Powell and his warnings around the dangers of mass immigration. As a politician, he has a keen sense of where the Overton window is in British politics at any one time, and when it is best to push it. Since his objection to Rupert Lowe’s enthusiasm for “mass deportations,” he has taken Reform UK onto a steadily more right-wing platform, and it appears to be working. The question, of course, is whether Reform would be doing better or worse today had it pursued such an aggressive position from the start, instead of stepping towards it incrementally.

Since 2024, Reform has changed from being an upstart party to one that looks likely to win a general election. Britain has a ruthless, winner-takes-all electoral system. Failed governments get punished brutally, but outsider parties face high barriers to entry. Despite securing 15 percent of the vote in 2024 and millions of votes, Reform came away with only five MPs. Today, Reform sits at roughly 30 percent on the polls, which is enough for a majority in the House of Commons, thanks to the broad distribution of their voters, spread across the country’s suburbs, villages and towns, similar to that of the Republican Party in the U.S.

This is an incredibly impressive feat for a party that was founded in 2019, but it is also a fragile lead. Reform, like the Conservatives before it, needs to sit in a hegemonic position among right wing voters before securing enough centrist voters to secure a majority in Parliament. A victory with 30 to 33 percent of the vote would provide a majority in the Commons, but with many MPs with thin majorities and low risk appetite. Securing around 40 percent would provide a much more secure footing and mandate with the public. This therefore requires a broader coalition of voters. This is the immovable reality of Britain’s electoral system and the geographic spread of right-wing voters in the country.

This dynamic, combined with the fact that British politics is the most fragmented It has ever been, means a small number of votes in any direction can have huge effects. If Restore Britain was capable of standing candidates in every constituency and took around 3 percent of the vote, it could have a devastating effect on Reform UK. Reform, Restore, the Conservatives, and the other Reform-offshoot party Advance UK, are fishing in the same pool of voters. This, combined with the British left split between Labour, the Greens and the Liberal Democrats, will turn many elections into a roll of the dice.

Even in Texas, Democrats Can’t Leave Woke Behind

Even in Texas, Democrats Can’t Leave Woke Behind

James Talarico is too woke for conservatives and too white for liberals.

Senate Candidate James Talarico Holds Primary Night Event

Texas Democrats picked the boring white guy over the black firebrand last week. James Talarico is touted as the Democrats’ best chance to pick up a Senate seat in the Lone Star State. The state representative, according to his fans, is a devout Christian who can appeal to Republicans and independents with his inoffensiveness and centrist persona. Who could be offended by this 36-year-old Boy Scout?

But it turns out that Mr. Moderate wasn’t so moderate just a few years ago. He made many comically woke statements in the years leading up to his political breakthrough, giving Republicans a wealth of material for attack ads. No matter who the GOP nominee is, they will face someone whom they can easily portray as far-left to ordinary Texans.

While Republicans will hammer Talarico for being too woke, he faced backlash in the Democratic primary for being too white. His supporters’ claim that he’s more electable than primary opponent Rep. Jasmine Crockett, who is black, was deemed a racist dog whistle. The primary was filled with such silly claims, illustrating how hard it is for the Democrats to leave woke behind.

Identity politics still rules the Democrats’ primaries and many of their candidates can’t escape their ultra-woke pasts. Democratic elites know it’s important to put on a moderate facade for elections—but getting voters to believe that facade is another matter.

Talarico is beloved by the media. He was touted by big name celebrities and popular podcasts. His apparent inoffensiveness made him a star to journalists and liberal activists. “A perfect storm is lining up for Texas Democrats,” Mark McKinnon, a Texas political operative, told Politico. “They have a nominee who can appeal to moderates and soft Republicans. Talarico could be Moses who leads the Lone Star Democrats out of the desert they’ve been in for 35 years.”

“Talarico is one of the few openly Christian politicians in the United States who acts like a Christian, and by acting like a Christian he reveals a profound contrast with so many members of the MAGA Christian movement that’s dominated American political life for 10 years,” Never Trumper David French fawningly wrote in the New York Times.

Such statements—which depict Talarico as a normal, middle of the road “Moses”—contrast sharply with his beliefs from just a few years ago.

On race, Talarico sounded exactly like a white Ibram X. Kendi. “White skin gives me and every white American immunity from the virus,” he wrote in a 2020 tweet. “But we spread it wherever we go—through our words, our actions, and our systems. We don’t have to be showing symptoms—like a white hood or a Confederate flag—to be contagious.”

He said the “only cure is diagnosing the virus within ourselves and taking dramatic actions to contain the spread. The first small step is proclaiming loudly and unequivocally that #BlackLivesMatter.”

In a 2018 Reddit AMA, Talarico declared that one of his priorities is to end “institutional racism.” “The first thing is to elect candidates who recognize institutional racism and are committed to dismantling it,” he wrote. “We need to confront our racist past, not glorify it.”

Talarico served as one of the lead opponents of a 2021 Texas bill that would’ve barred transgender athletes from girls’ sports. These bans are supported by two-thirds of the American population, but the Texas state rep felt it was a moral imperative to stand against them.

His stance led to all kinds of bizarre comments. In one statement, he claimed God could be considered trans. “God is both masculine and feminine and everything in-between,” Talarico said. ”God is non-binary.”

In a podcast interview, Talarico was asked what he loved besides friends and family. “I love… the trans children who showed up yesterday at the state capitol to advocate for their humanity,” he said, calling them an “inspiration.”

This will all make for great Republican attack ads in the general election. Talarico doesn’t look so moderate when he declares God “non-binary” and says it’s imperative to dismantle “institutional racism.”

Despite his progressive bona fides (which his biggest fans preferred to hide), he still struggled in the Democratic primary simply for being a white man running against a black woman. Crockett’s supporters claimed Talarico made racist comments about his former opponent Colin Allred. Talarico called him “mediocre” in a private conversation. It was alleged he called the former congressman a “mediocre black man,” which inspired charges of racism despite Talarico’s denials that he brought race into the conversation.

He was hammered by black critics over this issue, and for his supporters calling him more “electable.” Talarico didn’t go on the offensive against these nonsensical attacks. He instead agreed with claims that electability could be considered a racist dog whistle.

These attacks weren’t enough to defeat Talarico in the primary, but they do illustrate how identity politics continues to dominate the Democratic Party. Candidates are still forced to make ridiculous concessions to their base and play nice with unhinged elements. They can’t escape the same forces that turned the 2020 Democratic primary into the woke Olympics.

Just a few years ago, Talarico wouldn’t even have had to worry about these comments emerging. Leading Democrats were openly proclaiming these opinions to the public. Several 2020 candidates talked about “systemic racism” and how the party should work towards destroying this imagined evil. Support for open borders was the norm among the party establishment. Democrats made it a priority to defend trans athletes in girls’ sports during the early 2020s. These strange positions helped Trump win in 2024.

Democrats know they have to appear moderate to win general elections. They cannot sound like a Salon.com rant if they want to win over independents. They love Talarico because he seems to be the answer to their electoral concerns and the type of “normal person” who can move the Democrats beyond woke. But his past and his primary show this is much easier said than done. One softball Stephen Colbert interview doesn’t change how Talarico built up his political career or the crazy dynamics of Democratic primaries. Woke, whether Democrats like it or not, is here to stay with their party.

After Iran, the World Will Never Be the Same

After Iran, the World Will Never Be the Same

The new Machtpolitik threatens global stability.

TOPSHOT-IRAN-US-ISRAEL-WAR

President Donald Trump really screwed up this time. And I’m talking raised-the-chances-of-nuclear-catastrophe levels of screwing-up.

His war with Iran has sent energy markets into turmoil, creating “the largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market,” according to the International Energy Agency. It has ignited a regional conflagration featuring successful Iranian strikes on Israel, Gulf countries, U.S. military assets, and American troops. Gulf Arab capitals are growing resentful of the White House for having initiated the war, and they are questioning the value of security ties with Washington.

The Trump administration is failing to achieve its war aims, to the extent that anybody can decipher what they are. Trump initially had said he wanted to spread “freedom” to Iran, but so far, the U.S. and Israel are spreading apocalyptic scenes of mass devastation—and without managing to collapse the regime. Senior U.S. and Israeli officials are ready to deescalate, and Trump himself may want to declare victory and get out, but Tehran gets a vote as to when this war ends.

The analysts whom I trust fear an escalation doom spiral.

To be sure, supporters of the war can point to military achievements, such as the strikes last weekend that killed high-ranking officials, including the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. But the Islamic Republic survived, and this Monday, Iran’s Assembly of Experts appointed Khamenei’s hardline son Mojtaba to succeed him. Killing the old Khamenei during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, has turned him into a martyr and rallied the regime’s supporters. Worse, the new Khamenei seems to be in no mood for compromise, having just lost his parents, a son, other relatives, and possibly a limb in U.S. and Israeli strikes.

And even the successful decapitation of Iran’s leadership wasn’t the PR coup the White House hoped for. It was overshadowed by U.S. strikes the same day on an all-girls elementary school that killed upwards of 160 civilians, mostly children. Even pro-Trump Iran hawks like Laura Ingraham of Fox News are demanding answers.

And while the immediate costs of the war so far—including at least seven dead U.S. troops and as many as 150 more wounded—are obvious, and while these early phases of fighting will probably continue to be grim, matters will only worsen if the conflict drags on. The U.S. and its allies are running low on interceptors needed to blast missiles and drones out of the sky. And despite relentless U.S. and Israeli bombing, Iran has retained the ability to continue lobbing its missiles and drones across the region.

Moreover, the second-order effects and longer-term consequences of the war will destabilize the international order, perhaps irreparably. U.S. allies and adversaries alike discern that the world has entered an era of Machtpolitik, of power politics governed by an ethos of “might makes right.”

The spectacle of two nuclear-armed powers attacking a state that doesn’t have nukes already has contributed to nuclear proliferation. “The clear lesson coming out of this for countries that are not friends of the United States would be: get a nuclear weapon,” Middle East expert Rosemary Kelanic told The American Conservative.

North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-un last week observed the launching of a cruise missile from the kind of warship that Pyongyang seeks to arm with nuclear weapons. “Kim must have thought Iran was attacked like that because it didn’t have nuclear weapons,” said a former South Korean defense official. The Iranian government itself surely sees things the same way, which experts warn will motivate Tehran to build nuclear weapons after the war.

Even historic allies of the U.S. are looking to increase their nuclear defenses. Two days after the war kicked off, France’s President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would produce more nuclear warheads for the first time in decades. “To be free, we have to be feared,” Macron declared during the announcement.

Not just nuclear proliferation, but even the actual use of nuclear weapons in combat, is disturbingly possible. I’ve warned that Israel might nuke Iran out of desperation if Iranian ballistic missiles rain down on its small territory. Some American foreign policy experts, including Arta Moeini of the Institute for Peace and Diplomacy, see another pathway to nuclear escalation.

“The United States could escalate through Israel or by itself to tactical nukes, as this one last Hail Mary of trying to get Iran to capitulate,” Moeini said in the latest episode of TAC’s weekly podcast. (So-called tactical nukes are less explosive than “strategic” nuclear weapons but still roughly as destructive as the bombs the U.S. dropped on Japan during the Second World War.)

The “nuclear taboo” is one major reason, according to political scientists, that no state leader has pushed the big red button since 1945. If that taboo gets broken in the Iran war, then world affairs will get darker and much more dangerous.

Whether or not we ever see mushroom clouds in Iran, the U.S. will have trouble navigating the new world disorder with the normal tools of diplomacy—because America’s diplomatic credibility is shot. That’s what happens when a nation uses negotiations as a ploy before attacking a state that signaled openness to making a deal, as the Trump administration seems to have done three times now (twice with Iran, once with Venezuela).

After the latest spectacle of diplomatic duplicity played out between the U.S. and Iran in February, Russian elites adopted a different, much more cynical view of Trump’s efforts to resolve the Ukraine war. “Negotiations with the Americans seem almost pointless,” writes the Russian analyst Fyodor Lukyanov in a recent piece. “The end result always demands surrender or exposes itself as a diplomatic simulation that merely prepares the violent solution.” Other Russian elites have expressed the same sentiment, which I’ve heard is widespread in Moscow including at the Kremlin.

Lukyanov told TAC that Moscow may still engage with U.S. mediation to end the war in Ukraine, but that “the Iranian experience will not be left unnoticed,” especially since the same American negotiators handle both the Russia–Ukraine and Iran portfolios. “In general, one can say that the chance to reach a negotiated solution has decreased now.”

In other ways, too, the U.S.–Israeli operations undermine longstanding international norms, including one that world leaders, understandably, have cherished. “I do think one of the underappreciated long-tail impacts of the Iran war may be the choice to violate the effective norm against the assassination of heads of state,” writes foreign policy expert Emma Ashford on X. Trump seems cavalier about this danger. “I got him before he got me,” he bragged after Khamenei’s assassination, alluding to (questionable) claims that Iran’s government plotted to assassinate him.

It’s a brave new world indeed, and a barbaric one, and Trump increasingly gets the blame for that from international commentators. Trump “and his entourage create a cult of naked force,” Lukyanov told TAC. He added that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who has unleashed outlandish rhetorical belligerence in recent press conferences, “sounds like a person from the distant past.”

Conservatives often criticize global liberalism, international law, and the so-called rules-based international order. But the rapid erosion of world stability and emergence of Machtpolitik weren’t what many conservatives had wanted or expected. In an audio message to TAC, Moeini warned that America’s violent pursuit of global hegemony will lead to overreach, and he counseled against a hyper-militaristic foreign policy that jettisons time-honored diplomatic traditions.

“I do believe that ultimately power is everything and it’s very important, but power is not reducible to force.”

MSNOW Host Katy Tur Tries to Connect Michigan Synagogue Attack to Republicans (VIDEO)

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

Today on MSNOW, host Katy Tur tried to connect the Michigan terror attack to Republicans. She was speaking to fellow host Chris Hayes who nodded along and chimed in to support her stupid argument.

The two of them speculate about a supposed antisemitism problem on the right. That’s rich.

Democrats have Zohran Mamdani in the NYC mayor’s office, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, some of the most vile antisemites in the country, but MSNOW sees this as a problem for the right. Democrats have a senate candidate in Maine who had a Nazi tattoo!

You don’t hate these people enough. You think you do, but you don’t.

Transcript via NewsBusters:

KATY TUR: The Republican party is having, right now, a real fight on its hands – has a real fight on its hands amid wings of the Republican party that are extremely anti-Semitic or flirting with anti-Semitism. And Republicans on the other side of the party who are saying, hold on, what are you doing? This is not – this is ripping us apart. Democrats are having a fight on that as well, but it’s been pretty pronounced within the Republican party.

CHRIS HAYES: Yeah. I mean, I think.

TUR: There’s Ted Cruz and Tucker Carlson along.

HAYES: Yes. I mean, there’s a bunch of different axes and it gets very sort of difficult to disentangle them. I mean, there’s, you know, there is a rising sort of avowedly white nationalist, you know, groyper, Nazi adjacent part of the party that is sort of ordering, increasingly, I think, ordering its politics around, not just criticism of the Israeli government, but a view of Israel as the single most powerful world actor, and as Jews as the single most powerful world actor, and as Jews manipulating America to prey upon it.

And these are, of course, the oldest anti-Semitic tropes. And you have someone like, you know, Nick Fuentes, who went on Tucker’s show and someone that was – worked with him is going to be part of the College Republicans now at the national level. Like it’s not that far. Michelle Goldberg’s got a great column in the New York Times today about Florida candidate who’s sort of drawing on that energy. And it, you know, it remains, I think, a kind of fringe tendency, but it’s getting larger.

Here’s the clip:

These people live in an absolute fantasy land where Republicans are always the villains and Democrats can do no wrong.

France tried to bypass the war against Iran, but the conflict found it.

Today, a drone swarm attack by Iranian forces against the Iraqi region of Erbil has targeted not only US troops and military assets, but also British, Italian, and French troops and/or bases.

When it comes to the French grouping, the attack left a deadly mark, with a soldier killed in that attack against the Iraqi Kurdistan base.

France24 reported:

“An attack killed a French soldier in Erbil in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region, President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday.

A member of the armed forces ‘died for France during an attack in the Erbil region of Iraq’, Macron posted on X, confirming the first French military death in the Middle East war that began late last month when Israel and the United States struck Iran.”

Arnaud Frion was a Chief Warrant Officer (equivalent to a Sergeant Major), and his death was first announced by President Emmanuel Macron on X.

Emmanuel Macron expresses condolences for the death of Chief Warrant Officer Arnaud Frion during an attack in Erbil, Iraq, highlighting France's commitment to its soldiers and opposition to terrorism.

“Chief Warrant Officer Arnaud Frion of the 7th Battalion of Chasseurs Alpins from Varces died for France during an attack in the Erbil region of Iraq.

To his family, to his brothers in arms, I want to express all the affection and solidarity of the Nation.

Several of our soldiers have been wounded. France stands by their side and with their loved ones.

This attack against our forces engaged in the fight against Daesh since 2015 is unacceptable.

Their presence in Iraq is part of the strict framework of the fight against terrorism. The war in Iran cannot justify such attacks.”

BACKFIRE: How Lobstergate Makes Our Liberal Elites Look Even More Out of Touch

The recent non-troversy now known as Lobstergate is a fake outrage, ginned up by the usual Trump haters in our liberal media and embraced by various Democrats and late night propagandists.

What this entire, stupid affair has exposed is that our liberal elites are even more out of touch with the American people than previously known.

If any of these idiots had a family member or friend serving in our armed forces, they would know that feeding the troops seafood and steak is a common occurrence that has happened under presidents from both parties for years.

These idiots on the left tried to create a scandal out of thin air and all it showed is their stunning ignorance.

Here’s an image of former First Lady Michelle Obama serving steak to the troops. What a scandal!

Paul Begala of CNN made a total jackass out of himself on the air by showing that he knows nothing about any of this. It was a perfect example of what this is all about. Liberals outraged about something that they know absolutely nothing about.

The Editorial Board of the New York Post wrote today:

‘Lobstergate’ again exposes the ignorant bias of TV’s ‘best and brightest’

Late-night “comedians” Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and Seth Myers, along with Paul Begala and other CNN blowhards, went big for a pseudo-story Wednesday, raging about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other Pentagon bigs supposedly eating high on the hog.

Oops: “Lobstergate” only proved that not one of the on-air geniuses, nor any of their writers or producers, knows a thing about military life.

All the smug fury was based on a news item — from noted military-journalism site TMZ! — about the Defense Department spending $22 million on lobster and ribeye steak in a single month.

If they’d bothered to check the (transparently idiotic!) assumption that all the eats were for the top brass, they’d have learned that a “surf & turf” fete is a longstanding military tradition, a treat for troops headed to a deployment or stuck on an extended tour, with all the gastrointestinal joy that a diet of MREs can deliver.

The people pushing this fake outrage are so ignorant that they don’t even realize that they are the ones who look bad here.

They don’t know it’s a tradition because they don’t know anyone who serves in our military. They are completely out of touch with ordinary Americans.

Prior to getting into politics, Texas Democrat James Talarico was a middle school teacher in San Antonio. He apparently used his classroom to push Democrat politics on his young students.

The Democrat senate candidate reportedly had students write ‘Obama memoirs’ and encouraged them to watch the Democrat National Convention on TV.

Talarico uses Christianity to push his far left views, so it’s not much of a stretch to believe he used his position as a teacher to push left wing politics as well.

The Daily Wire broke the story:

Texas Dem Senate Nominee James Talarico Had Public School Students Write ‘Obama Memoirs’

exas Senate Democratic nominee James Talarico is facing scrutiny over social media posts from his time as a teacher in a public middle school, including assignments in which students were instructed to write “Obama memoirs” and encouraged to watch the Democratic National Convention.

Facebook posts reviewed by The Daily Wire from Talarico’s teacher page during the 2011 and 2012 school years show the then-sixth-grade language arts instructor incorporating his own political perspectives at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School in San Antonio.

In a November 13, 2012, post, days after President Barack Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney, Talarico posted: “Today, we finished writing our Obama memoirs. We’ve been learning about narrative non-fiction writing like memoirs for the past 2 weeks.”

“Students wrote a memoir of Election Night from the point of view of a member of the Obama family. Awesome job, Wildcats!” he added. A photo accompanying the post showed a student essay beneath the word, “Victory!!!!!!”

In another post, Talarico highlighted the student memoirs on a classroom wall alongside images of the Obama family and the Obama campaign logo.

It’s amazing that Democrats nominated this man for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas.

Stuff like this about Talarico is going to continue to drop from now until election day.

There is just so much bizarre material on this guy. For opposition research, he is the gift that keeps on giving.
