Sometimes, political events far from American soil strike directly at the heart of U.S. policy. The upcoming parliamentary elections in Hungary on April 12, 2026, and the heated campaign now unfolding there are exposing information with profound implications for President Trump’s Administration and its relationships with nations long viewed as reliable partners – if not outright allies.

A single incident rarely commands attention on its own. But when it surfaces amid a pattern of events all pointing in the same direction, it demands serious scrutiny.

Hungary, that picturesque Central European nation, has become a vital strategic asset and trusted partner for the current administration.

The warm personal friendship between President Trump and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is well known, but the deeper bond rests on shared principles: robust democracy rooted in national sovereignty, strict controls on migration, energy security, military strength, economic prosperity, and technological leadership.

Orbán’s platform mirrors our own “America First” agenda. He battles the same globalist elites in Brussels who enjoy the quiet backing of the Democratic Party. In many respects, the Hungarian government is fighting the very war Trump waged here at home.

Recent statements from Trump Administration officials affirming U.S. support for Orbán’s Fidesz party only underscore this alignment.

Then, at the close of March 2026, Orbán dropped a political bombshell. He publicly charged that Ukraine under President Zelenskyy had funneled billions of dollars – laundered through Hungary – into efforts to support Kamala Harris during the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Hungarian officials, including Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, detailed transfers of Ukrainian aid money routed westward to boost Democrats.

Why would Kyiv interfere in the election of its biggest benefactor? The motive is as obvious as it is cynical: a Democrat in the Oval Office might have guaranteed endless blank-check billions with minimal oversight, allowing Zelenskyy to prolong a bloody conflict indefinitely.

The backdrop of Ukraine-Hungary relations makes the accusation even more credible. Tensions have skyrocketed in recent months. Budapest has repeatedly demanded that Kyiv repair the Druzhba (Friendship) oil pipeline so Hungary and Slovakia could once again receive affordable Russian crude.

Zelenskyy refused, citing “infrastructure damage” without providing evidence, and barred technical inspection teams from assessing the site.

During a tense, media-covered meeting in his presidential office, Zelenskyy reportedly blackmailed Orbán over the issue.

In retaliation, Orbán vetoed a proposed €90 billion EU loan package for Ukraine, rightly noting that Kyiv has no realistic path to repayment and that European taxpayers would foot the bill forever. Adding insult to injury, Kyiv has stepped up support for Orbán’s chief domestic rival – Péter Magyar and his Tisza Party – further poisoning bilateral ties.

Could Orbán’s timing – mere weeks before Hungarians head to the polls – be mere campaign rhetoric or information warfare? Perhaps. Yet the broader context transforms the claim from isolated accusation into a coherent pattern. And that pattern has now exploded across the American information space.

Last week, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified U.S. intelligence intercepts showing that, as far back as 2022, Ukrainian government officials discussed funneling hundreds of millions of U.S.-donated taxpayer dollars (originally earmarked for clean-energy projects via USAID) into accounts tied to Joe Biden’s political operation and the Democratic National Committee.

The Biden Administration, of course, buried the intercepts; such an international scandal would have been politically catastrophic as Democrats would lose voter support over their reckless Ukraine policy. Gabbard has now ordered a full USAID review and potential criminal referral to the FBI.

Nor can we ignore the most brazen public example: in September 2024, President Zelenskyy himself flew to a military ammunition plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania – Joe Biden’s hometown and a critical swing-state battleground – to deliver what Republicans rightly called a campaign-style appearance on behalf of Kamala Harris.

A foreign head of state openly stumping for one U.S. candidate in the midst of a presidential election, with zero legal repercussions for him or his country.

Taken together, these episodes – Orbán’s March revelation, Gabbard’s declassified intercepts, and Zelenskyy’s Pennsylvania photo-op – form a compelling case. This is not coincidence; it is a pattern of interference by a supposed partner that has received hundreds of billions in American aid.

The Trump Administration must treat this seriously. An immediate, thorough investigation is essential. Whether ally or adversary, no foreign power has the right to meddle in U.S. elections.

That sacred decision belongs exclusively to American citizens. Anything less signals weakness – and weakness invites more aggression from wolves disguised in sheep’s clothing. Hungary’s voters will decide their own future next month. We must decide ours by demanding full accountability now.

Thank You President Trump – Egg Prices Are Down 80 Percent Just in Time for Easter

President Trump and First Lady Melania with the Easter Bunny at 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll/ screen image

It’s going to be very easy to buy Easter Eggs this year, thanks to President Trump. Egg prices are down by a staggering 80 percent.

Remember when Trump had been reelected president for about ten minutes and Democrats started hassling him about the price of eggs, which had skyrocketed on Joe Biden’s watch? That was fun. Where are they now?

Given all of the things Democrats have been outraged about since then, it seems like ancient history.

Breitbart News has details:

Happy Easter: Egg Prices Are Down 80%

This year’s Easter egg hunts may be a bit more fun and a lot less pricey.

After getting shellacked by last year’s surge in egg prices, families heading into Easter this spring are finding that one of the season’s essential items is no longer quite so punishing at the grocery store. The drop has been sharp enough to be felt not just by economists and retailers, but by parents planning brunch, filling baskets, and deciding how many eggs they can afford to dye, hide, and inevitably discover days later under the couch.

The turnaround is striking. In the producer price index for eggs for fresh use, prices in February were down 80.4 percent from a year earlier. That is a dramatic reversal from the run-up that made eggs one of the most talked-about items in the grocery aisle last year.

Consumers are seeing relief too. According to the retail price data, the average price for a dozen Grade A eggs fell to $2.50 in February 2026 from $5.90 in February 2025, a decline of 57.6 percent. Based on the historical series going back to the mid-1980s, that appears to be the largest year-over-year drop on record.

That decline follows a period when egg prices had become a vivid symbol of food inflation and sent families scrambling for alternatives. During the Biden years, prices were climbing so quickly that they were yoked into the national political conversation.

Here are some examples of our ridiculously biased media from a year ago.

Will they report the good news this year? We sure hope so.

The Real Meaning of the Holy Sepulcher Contretemps

The Real Meaning of the Holy Sepulcher Contretemps

Worldly power fears the man on the donkey.

Jerusalem-Palm-Sunday-Restrictions

On Palm Sunday, Israeli police stopped Pierbattista Cardinal Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and Francesco Ielpo, the Custos of the Holy Land, on their way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The church called the decision “manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate,” noting that for the first time in centuries, its senior leaders were prevented from celebrating Palm Sunday at Christianity’s holiest shrine. Only after global outrage did Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reverse the restriction.

This event should alarm everyone, not just practicing Christians.

Palm Sunday is Christianity’s great anti-empire procession. Jesus entered Jerusalem without a chariot, legions, or spectacle. He came on a donkey. He did not arrive to flatter power but to expose it. He did not mirror the empires of his age; instead, he unmasked them. Palm Sunday is what happens when the Kingdom of God enters a city and reveals how insecure worldly power really is.

That is what makes this episode so revealing. A modern state with one of the world’s most sophisticated military and security apparatuses found itself threatened by a humble Christian observance. There is bitter irony in that. On the very day Christians remember Christ’s repudiation of imperial theater, armed power moved to police the memory of it.

Israel says this was about security during wartime. But even if one grants the seriousness of the moment, the facts still expose something deeper. The planned Mass reportedly would have involved fewer than 50 participants, within the gathering limits Israel itself was enforcing. U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee, rarely a critic of Israel, called the decision an “unfortunate overreach” and said it was “difficult to understand or justify.”

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz agreed that the security concerns should not have prevented the patriarch from entering the church. When Huckabee and Cruz are complaining that Israel has gone too far, Americans should pay attention.

Huckabee and Cruz now seem startled that a state they have treated as morally untouchable could trample Christian freedom in Jerusalem. But this is what happens when politicians spend years confusing biblical loyalty with political indulgence. Eventually the idol stops pretending to be holy.

Neither the leaders in Jerusalem nor those in Washington, DC should be romanticized as guardians of religious liberty simply because they wrap themselves in biblical language.

The deeper problem is not one bad decision that was quickly corrected. It is the logic underneath it.

For months, Muslim worship at Al Aqsa was heavily restricted, especially during Ramadan. Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall also lived under wartime limitations, so fairness requires saying plainly that this pressure was not borne by one community alone. But Palm Sunday revealed something that cannot be dismissed as routine.

When Pizzaballa was blocked from entering the church, the world saw how easily a broader security regime can become a mechanism of humiliation and control. It is hard not to see a pattern, or at least a test of limits. If the world shrugs when one holy site is constricted, power learns it may be able to constrict another. If the outrage is manageable, the precedent becomes useful. That is how freedom is narrowed, not always by one dramatic act, but by little steps.

Christians should be especially clear-eyed about what the Church of the Holy Sepulcher represents. It is not merely an ancient building or picturesque stop on a pilgrimage route. Christians have venerated this church for centuries as the site of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. In the grammar of Christian faith, this is not ornamental; it is the hinge. The church stands or falls on the confession that Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. To obstruct worship there on Palm Sunday is an assault, symbolic if not yet total, on the public witness of the resurrection itself.

And the man who was barred is not some imported dignitary with little connection to the suffering people of the land. Pizzaballa is the highest Catholic authority in Jerusalem and across the Latin Patriarchate’s territory, which includes Israel, the Palestinian territories, Jordan, and Cyprus. For Palestinian Christians, he is a shepherd who has gone to Gaza, more than once, to stand with a battered flock. In 2023, he even said he was willing to offer himself in exchange for Israeli hostages. His presence has become a source of hope precisely because he has refused to abandon them.

Jesus wept over Jerusalem, not because the city lacked power but because it did not know the things that make for peace. He wept because he saw the use of sacred language coexisting with spiritual blindness. Two thousand years later, the tragedy remains. Jerusalem still knows how to control a crowd better than how to welcome peace. It still knows how to securitize holiness. It still knows how to mistake force for authority.

Palm Sunday announces that God’s answer to empire is not a stronger empire but a different King—one who rides into the city in a lowly manner but who exposes domination instead of sanctifying it. This King wept over Jerusalem even as its people were preparing to kill him.

That is the final irony here. The men with weapons, gates, and orders imagined they were controlling access to a church. But Palm Sunday has always been about something they cannot control: the public unveiling of a Kingdom that terrifies every empire precisely because it does not need to become one.

If Israel, backed by the most powerful friends in the West, still feels threatened by the memory of a peaceful procession led by the church, then perhaps we are seeing a gripping embodiment of how fragile power becomes when confronted by the truth of a donkey, a cross, and an empty tomb.

The AI Book Scandal Roiling Reform UK

The AI Book Scandal Roiling Reform UK

Matthew Goodwin’s latest is a stumble for the British right.

Lee Anderson Announces Reform UK Candidate For Gorton And Denton
UK Special Coverage

Is the British right starting to get sloppy? The row over the latest book by Matthew Goodwin, a former academic–turned—GB News commentator and Reform UK parliamentary candidate, seems to suggest that it is.

Goodwin emerged on Britain’s political scene as a well-respected academic. His books in the 2010s, Revolt on the Right and National Populism, were serious attempts to grapple with the emerging populist revolt, with the rise of UKIP and the Brexit vote in the UK, as well as Trump in the US and the emerging hard right in Europe. They were well received by his fellow academics and in the press.

In contrast, reviews of his new self-published book, Suicide of a Nation: Immigration, Islam, Identity, have not only been universally poor across the political spectrum. They have also accused him of relying on falsely attributed quotes, misinterpreted statistics and “AI hallucinations.” One of the earliest reviewers to suspect AI was behind Goodwin’s research felt moved to ask: “Did Goodwin verify any of his claims? Did he open a single book [while] writing his own? Or did he just accept whatever an AI chatbot spat out because it would make him sound vaguely informed?”

Among the errors to have raised eyebrows is Goodwin’s contention that English-speaking children are a minority in primary schools in London and other major British cities. This would indeed be an extraordinary state of affairs, although it seems to be based on a misunderstanding, either by Goodwin himself or by an AI tool. Statistics about children in British schools who have “English as an additional language” seem to have been taken as meaning children who cannot speak English at all. Similarly, quotes attributed to Cicero, Hayek, and James Burnham appear to have been hallucinated or based on an AI summary of their views. At one point, the book claims that Boris Johnson was “in opposition” when he launched the Conservative Party manifesto in 2019, when Johnson was, in fact, prime minister.

Clearly, there is a case to answer here. Adding to the suspicion is the fact that the book is self-published—despite his earlier books coming through established publishing houses, like Penguin and Routledge—and the timing of its release: just one month after his loss in the Gorton and Denton by-election. Suicide of a Nation seems like it was rushed out to capitalize on Goodwin’s role in one of the most high-profile electoral battles of at least the past year. All of this might explain the apparent shoddiness of the research and fact-checking.

Yet rather than rebut the claims or own up and apologize, Goodwin has doubled down in defending his work. He has accused his critics of being “left-wing trolls” who haven’t read the book. He has boasted about how the backlash has helped to boost sales, pushing it to near the top of the Amazon UK charts. He even came out swinging to defend his book on GB News, in a debate with one of his left-wing critics, Andy Twelves. In an astonishing piece of television, Goodwin states confidently that his book cannot have been written by AI. His proof? He ran it through ChatGPT, and told him, “This does not read like an AI-written book.” So case closed, presumably.

What is most frustrating about the “MattGPT” episode is that the themes raised in Suicide of a Nation are indeed important, and Goodwin’s assessment of the state of 2020s Britain is broadly correct. A compelling book on the malign consequences of unchecked migration, the threat posed by Islamist extremism, and the suicidal empathy of the elites ought not to be too difficult to write without AI’s help. The horrors of the grooming gangs and the Manchester Arena bombing are all too real—as are the attempts by the authorities to silence anyone who dares to notice and linger on these uncomfortable truths. Yet Goodwin’s blunder has provided his critics with yet another excuse to avoid that conversation. And so Britain’s slow suicide continues.

As if anticipating the furor, Goodwin writes in Suicide of a Nation, “The elites will attack me because I wrote this for you. They will call me every name under the sun because I dare to tell you the truth.” Perhaps this would have been true regardless of the AI allegations. No doubt the left would loathe any anti-migration polemic, even one that was impeccably sourced and factually bulletproof. But as Sun Tzu famously said, “Never give your enemy an opening.” Or at least, it’s the kind of thing he might have said, according to ChatGPT.

The Trillion-Dollar Illusion

The Trillion-Dollar Illusion

We spend all that money and are still unable to defend our Persian Gulf bases.

TOPSHOT-UAE-IRAN-ISRAEL-US-CONFLICT

The latest American-Israeli aggression against Iran has exposed the United States’ inability to defend our big bases in the Gulf Countries and smaller bases in Iraq. For decades, these countries have had to endure the ire of their populations who are unhappy with the presence of U.S. forces in their lands. Their citizens are painfully aware of the U.S. and Israeli mass destruction and murder of their Muslim brothers. This may become a source of instability as war escalates.

Our leaders bribed and coerced the Persian Gulf family monarchies into accepting U.S. military bases in their countries. The regimes justified the American presence because the “most powerful military in history” would protect them. How has that worked out? The Persian Gulf states are now experiencing devastating daily missile attacks from Iran because the Iranians are blaming them for supporting and participating in the Israel/U.S. aggression. How did they not consider that possibility when they encouraged this U.S. aggression? Iran warned them.

One of Osama Bin Laden’s chief complaints was the sacrilege of U.S. military bases in the Muslim Holy Land. The Gulf state leaders must have been watching too much Fox News or the other news outlets controlled by friends of Benjamin Netanyahu. Their foolish decisions now threaten the stability of their regimes. Also, if Iran is turned into a non-functioning country, there will be nothing to protect the Gulf states from predation by Israel.

As the war against Iran grinds on, the Gulf state leaders are becoming acutely aware of just how much the U.S. regime prioritizes Israel over them. It also galls other “allies” of the U.S. regime that Israel, the root cause of the war, is receiving resupply of Patriot missile interceptors at their expense.

In addition, we are now witnessing as they increasingly realize that the various U.S. and Israeli missile defense systems provide no serious defense against hyper-sonic missiles. This was a long-suppressed fact exposed during the Ukrainian War. The U.S. elite don’t want Americans to know, but Iran, Russia, China, Hezbollah, and even Ansar Allah (the Houthis) know full well how to successfully overwhelm and defeat U.S. missile defense systems. The Iranians are demonstrating this daily. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is too busy cheerleading to notice. President Donald Trump is clueless. Our mocking bird press maintains the pro-war narrative of phony U.S. successes.

Our military is still extremely powerful and able to cause wreckage all over the world. It is our leaders’ competence and judgment that is in serious question. Look what chaos they are wreaking on Iran and what Israel is doing in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria with the arms and money we have given them.

The whole country of Iran has a GDP of less than 500 billion dollars. That is less than one half of what the U.S. regime spends on military alone in a year, yet Iran has destroyed most of the U.S. bases in the Persian Gulf and is wreaking havoc on Israel. The U.S. carrier groups are positioned more than 700 miles away from Iran because they are wary of the Iranian missile capability and the inadequate U.S. defense capabilities. And, as they had warned, the Iranians have gained control of the Strait of Hormuz. Israeli/U.S. leaders appear to be surprised. Their plan appears to have been: Pretend to negotiate, get the Iranians to gather their leaders to consider the offers, then kill them all and hope the country would collapse. Quick and easy and over in a few days. Another cake walk. It appears that the intelligence and planning was happily provided by Netanyahu and his vaunted Israeli intelligence, who had people assigned to the White House. They desire the destruction of Iran in spite of the price. The rest didn’t matter to them, so U.S. leaders were not encouraged to consider planning for other contingencies.

For example, the Trump administration spent a couple of months and billions of dollars last year vainly attempting to crush the Yemeni Ansar Allah who have been threatening ships transiting through the Red Sea. The U.S. carrier group had to retreat from the Yemeni missiles. The Trump administration made a deal to leave them alone.

The long list of countries wrecked by the U.S. since the Second World War, but not conquered, is shocking. We spent many trillions of dollars and spread only death and destruction. None of the wars for democracy ended up with democracy. Their promise to protect civilians from cruel dictators in fact killed and wounded more civilians than the cruel dictator would have done. The rhetoric was created to bamboozle the hapless American people into supporting these cruel fiascoes.

And the chest-beating about our possessing the most powerful military in the world only appears to be credible because we have spent the past two decades fighting small militias with small arms. This war is the real thing, against a bonafide middle power, and we are doing badly. We have gold-plated military equipment approaching obsolescence and designed to enrich defense contractors and lobbyists at the expense of practical and effective systems. Yes, the U.S. can bomb and kill all day, but can it achieve strategic objectives at an acceptable cost?

In 1953, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during the Second World War, said it best about the costs we pay for militarism:

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete pavement.

We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people…

It calls upon [governments] to answer the question that stirs the hearts of all sane men: is there no other way the world may live?

Seventy-three years later, the numbers are worse, and we now have 39 trillion dollars of debt. At least the bombers, fighters, and destroyers in those days functioned as advertised. We are being willfully deceived by our leaders who paint failures as successes. Congressional leaders are crippled and corrupted by the money, and are unwilling to end this madness. We should wake up and stop it before the world suffers more.

If Donald Trump were to decide to become a truly brave leader, he could declare he was misinformed by foreign aligned intelligence sources and he has realized the three-day cakewalk was a fantasy. In order to end the death and destruction and the risk of a global depression, he would order the termination of ALL arms transfers into the Middle East.

Mr. President, work out a reasonable deal with Iran, which they would probably welcome, and bring our troops home to save and protect them from being killed or wounded and the world economy wrecked.

JUST IN: Hegseth Ousts Two More Senior Army Generals

Official delivering a briefing at the Pentagon, with American flags in the background, discussing defense matters and military policies.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth fired two more Army Generals on Thursday after he ousted Army Chief of Staff General Randy George.

General George served in the role under Biden’s Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

“General Randy A. George will be retiring from his position as the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army effective immediately,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said.

“The Department of War is grateful for General George’s decades of service to our nation. We wish him well in his retirement,” Parnell said.

Hegseth has not released his own statement on the latest shakeup at the Pentagon.

Later Thursday, the Washington Post reported that Hegseth also ousted two more senior Army Generals.

The Washington Post reported:

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked the Army’s top officer to step down and retire, defense officials said Thursday, an extraordinary move amid the war with Iran and the latest in a series of clashes between the Pentagon chief and the service’s senior leadership.

Gen. Randy George had been expected to hold the job of Army chief of staff for more than another year, until the fall of 2027, and complete what is typically a four-year assignment as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. But Hegseth decided to go in another direction, representatives for the defense secretary said.

Two other Army generals were removed along with George, said two defense officials, who like some others spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the shake-up.

They are Gen. David Hodne, who became the head of the service’s Training and Transformation Command in October, and Maj. Gen. William Green Jr., the chief of Army chaplains.

With George’s ouster, Hegseth has remade nearly the entire Joint Chiefs of Staff, a panel of senior military officers at the Pentagon that advises both the president and the secretary. The only ones remaining from when Hegseth took office in January 2025 are Gen. Eric M. Smith, commandant of the Marine Corps, and Gen. B. Chance Saltzman, head of the Space Force.

The latest shakeup at the Pentagon comes as President Trump announced the Iran war is winding down.

“We are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly, very shortly,” Trump said in Wednesday night’s speech.

“We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks,” he said.

The joint US-Israel war against Iran, dubbed “Operation Epic Fury” began on February 28.

Thirteen US service members have been killed in action in Operation Epic Fury and 140 have been wounded.

Actor Eugene Mirman, who plays the character Gene Belcher on the animated ‘Bob’s Burgers’ TV series, was injured in a fiery car crash in New Hampshire this week when his car ran into a toll booth.

By pure chance, New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte was not far behind and assisted with the rescue when her car arrived at the scene.

Mirman was ultimately pulled from the burning wreck by state troopers and civilians at the scene. He is lucky to be alive.

ABC News reports:

New Hampshire governor, her security helped ‘Bob’s Burgers’ star after fiery crash

New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte and her security detail were among those who assisted in a fiery crash at a New Hampshire toll plaza on Tuesday — with a state trooper on her detail and two other bystanders helping pull the driver from the burning vehicle, according to state police.

The driver of the car was “Bob’s Burgers” star Eugene Mirman, 51, of Massachusetts.

“Eugene was in a very scary car accident. He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries,” Mirman’s agent, Jay Gassner, said in a statement.

The “dangerous” collision occurred at the Bedford Toll Plaza on the Everett Turnpike shortly before noon, according to New Hampshire State Police Director Col. Mark Hall.

The vehicle, a 2026 Lucid electric vehicle, “immediately became engulfed in flames,” Hall said during a press briefing on Tuesday.

The governor and her security detail came upon the accident just after the vehicle crashed into the toll plaza, Hall said. A New Hampshire state trooper assigned to her detail and two other bystanders helped Mirman — the lone occupant — out of the burning vehicle through the window, according to Hall.

Governor Ayotte shared this video on Twitter/X:

This situation could have been much worse for Mirman.

Thank goodness for the assistance of those troopers and bystanders.

Drive safely, everyone.

Law Professor Jonathan Turley: It’s ‘Insane’ That We Continue to Embrace Birthright Citizenship (VIDEO)

Screencap of YouTube video.

Professor Jonathan Turley, who teaches law at George Washington University, appeared on FOX News this week to provide analysis of the birthright citizenship case currently being heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Turley finds it ironic that the liberal justices on the court are suddenly interested in an originalist Scalia-style interpretation of the Constitution. He also said that we are one of the few countries that still practice this ‘insane’ policy.

Professor Turley tends to lean liberal but he is honest.

The Daily Caller reported:

Jonathan Turley Says It’s ‘Insane’ US Is One Of Few Countries With Birthright Citizenship

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments Wednesday regarding President Donald Trump’s executive order that ended birthright citizenship for children born to illegal aliens. Turley said on “Fox & Friends” that the current issues with birthright citizenship pose a major threat to the country.

“The fact that we are one of the few countries that continues to embrace birthright citizenship is perfectly insane, and it is a great danger to this government and to this republic,” Turley said. ” So the question for these justices is not necessarily if they agree with birthright citizenship. I expect the majority does not.”

Turley said that the justices all appeared to be acting like originalists, meaning they interpreted the Constitution based on its original meaning at the time of adoption. The citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment was ratified in 1868 primarily to grant freed slaves and their children citizenship.

“What was really astonishing yesterday is it appeared that we might have nine originalists on the court because the liberal justices started to channel Scalia and to say, ‘oh, you know, we’ve got to stick with the original intent here.’ These are justices, when they look at other rights like the Second Amendment, treat that language as barely a speed bump,” Turley continued. “And they say, well, we have to look at this living constitution and the problems we’re facing today. Well, the problems we’re facing today on birthright citizenship are existential in my view.”

See the video below:

Turley went into more detail during a later appearance with Laura Ingraham. Watch:

Turkey’s analysis is correct, it is an insane policy, and it is being abused by foreign actors who do not have America’s best interests in mind.

BEYOND PARODY: Gavin Newsom Spends $20 Million on Consulting Firm in Effort to Find Ways to Cut Waste

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has reportedly spent upwards of $20 million on a consulting firm that was going to search for ways to cut government waste.

You could not make this up. This is the most Democrat government story ever.

Newsom could have just looked at his state on his own and picked out expensive programs that aren’t working and recommended that they be cut himself, but then he would have to own those decisions. Democrat base voters would then be likely to come after him for this and hold him accountable.

By burying this under a big expensive consulting firm, he can evade responsibility.

The New York Post reports:

Newsom spends $20M on consultants in struggling DOGE-inspired plan to cut waste

Gov. Gavin Newsom has paid upwards of $20 million to a consulting firm that employs his former cabinet secretary to eliminate wasteful spending — but the effort has come up well short of the goal as state lawmakers blasted the move.

Newsom — who signed an executive order to cut spending in the state, à la Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficienc is hitting roadblocks with the plan amid a multibillion-dollar state budget deficit.

California contracted with one of the world’s largest consulting firms, Boston Consulting Group, for up to $20 million in an effort to cut $2 billion in spending from the departments of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Social Services, and Health Care Services by the 2028-’29 fiscal year.

But the group — which hired former Newsom cabinet Secretary and Department of Finance Director Ana J. Matosantos — is now expected to only find $810 million in savings, according to legislative analysts.

That number may even go down later in May, analysts added, as indicated by the Newsom administration.

State lawmakers are scratching their heads over the miss.

“This whole Boston Consulting Group contract has me mystified,” Republican state Assemblymember Tom Lackey said during a Thursday legislative hearing, according to Politico.

Here are some Twitter/X reactions:

If Gavin Newsom really wants to cut wasteful spending, perhaps he could start by not paying consultants millions of dollars to tell him what should be cut. It’s a crazy idea that just might work.

Former J6 Defendant Turned DOJ Senior Adviser RESIGNS — Says Deep-State Rot Too Entrenched to Expose From Within

Former FBI agent and J6 defendant Jared Wise has officially resigned from his senior position at the DOJ.

In a bombshell announcement on X, Wise revealed that the rot within the federal government is so deep that the only way to truly expose the FBI and DOJ’s weaponization against Trump supporters is from the outside.

“Today I resigned from my position at the U.S. Department of Justice. I returned to Washington to fully expose the abuses by the FBI and DOJ against J6 defendants, but it became clear that this will only happen from outside of government. So I left and will do so.”

Wise, a former FBI agent turned federal whistleblower and Project Veritas journalist, had been brought into the DOJ as a counselor to Ed Martin, who previously led the Department of Justice’s “Weaponization Working Group,” a unit tasked with investigating “politicized justice” and “abuses of the criminal justice process.”

Wise was on the ground January 6 as a journalist and patriot documenting the events, and yes, in the heat of the moment as violence erupted (much of it allegedly instigated or allowed by federal assets, as whistleblowers have testified), bodycam footage captured him allegedly referring to certain police officers as “Nazis” and “Gestapo” and yelling “Kill ’em! Kill ’em! Kill ’em!” The FBI affidavit used that to charge him with two felonies and four misdemeanors.

Wise’s case was dismissed the day President Trump was inaugurated, as part of the sweeping pardons that freed hundreds of J6 defendants from the greatest miscarriage of justice in modern American history.

Yet the radical Democrats at the time were having a meltdown over Wise even being hired in the first place.

In a whiny letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, the usual swamp creatures – Dick Durbin (D-IL), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and Adam Schiff (D-CA) – demanded Wise should resign:

“We strongly object to the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) shameless hiring of Jared Wise as a senior adviser. This is an individual who stormed the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, and was accordingly charged with multiple felony offenses, including assaulting and aiding and abetting the assault of police while on Capitol grounds… The Trump Administration’s choices to double down on its politicization of DOJ and elevate those who have actively attacked the rule of law, such as Mr. Wise, are a slap in the face to law enforcement everywhere.”

DOJ itself initially pushed back, with a spokesperson declaring: “Jared Wise is a valued member of the Justice Department and we appreciate his contributions to our team.”

Wise resignation follows Trump’s firing of Bondi as US attorney general, and Todd Blanche will replace Bondi in the interim.
