President Trump on Thursday signed an executive order expanding high-quality retirement accounts for millions of Americans.

“Beginning at the start of next year, every American will be able to go to http://TrumpIRA.Gov and open a new, low-cost IRA account. You’ll then be able to access the same type of retirement accounts that federal employees enjoy,” Trump said.

“As part of the Federal Savers Match program, low income Americans will be eligible to receive up to $1,000 per year in matching funds deposited directly into their accounts,” Trump said.

“This is a great thing for millions of Americans who lack employer-sponsored plans. This will be really revolutionary because they’ll be covered,” he said.

Full executive order and statement from the White House:

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and to ensure that every American worker has access to a simple, portable, low-cost retirement-savings option, it is hereby ordered:

Section 1. Policy. Tens of millions of Americans lack access to employer-sponsored retirement plans. Workers in small businesses, part-time workers, independent contractors, and self‑employed workers face unnecessary barriers to saving for retirement. My Administration intends to give these often-left-out American workers access to the same type of retirement-savings opportunities offered to every Federal worker and to establish an easy and transparent way for eligible workers to obtain up to a $1,000 match for their savings. Hard-working Americans deserve retirement security in portable savings vehicles that offer access to low-cost investments similar to those offered to Federal workers in the Thrift Savings Plan.

It is the policy of the United States to promote high-quality, low-cost individual retirement accounts (IRAs) offered by private-sector financial institutions that meet objective standards of cost, transparency, and fiduciary responsibility.

It is further the policy of the United States to increase public awareness of the Federal Saver’s Match enacted in the bipartisan SECURE 2.0 Act (Public Law 117-328, Division T) and to facilitate participation in eligible retirement-savings vehicles that provide diversified, index-based investment options.

Through a federally administered retirement-savings informational platform that highlights qualifying high-quality, low-cost, private-sector IRAs, the United States will promote retirement-savings participation, provide access to retirement-savings options similar to those enjoyed by Federal employees, and encourage workers to reap the rewards of the vibrant American private-sector along with the power of compound earnings.

Sec. 2. Establishment of TrumpIRA.gov. (a) The Secretary of the Treasury shall, by January 1, 2027, establish a website (TrumpIRA.gov) that provides individuals, with a particular focus on independent contractors, self-employed individuals, and other workers who do not have access to an employer-sponsored retirement plan, with information about high-quality, low-cost IRAs. Individuals who contribute to qualifying IRAs, and who are otherwise eligible, are entitled to a Federal Saver’s Match contribution of up to $1,000 pursuant to 26 U.S.C. 6433.

(b) TrumpIRA.gov shall list financial institutions that offer IRAs under 26 U.S.C. 408, accept the Federal Saver’s Match contribution under 26 U.S.C. 6433(e)(2)(C), and meet other criteria, as directed by the Secretary of the Treasury, consistent with applicable law. In addition, TrumpIRA.gov shall explain the cost and quality criteria described in subsection (c) of this section, allow individuals to filter and select IRAs based on their cost and quality, and provide information regarding the opportunity to receive the Federal Saver’s Match contribution under 26 U.S.C. 6433, consistent with applicable law.

(c) TrumpIRA.gov shall identify financial institutions that offer IRAs that:

(i) provide a menu of investment options that meet stated criteria including:

(A) investment fund products or model portfolios, including life-cycle or targeted-retirement-date options as described in 29 C.F.R. 2550.404c-5(e)(4)(i), or balanced funds as described in 29 C.F.R. 2550.404c-5(e)(4)(ii); or

(B) funds that are designed to protect principal on an ongoing basis, as described in 29 C.F.R. 2550.404c-5(e)(4)(iv);

(ii) maintain low administrative costs, with overall net-expense ratios, inclusive of operating costs, management fees, and administrative expenses, limited to .15 percent; and

(iii) do not impose minimum-contribution or balance requirements.

(d) In accordance with section 104(a) of the SECURE 2.0 Act, TrumpIRA.gov shall be designed to increase public awareness of the opportunity for eligible individuals to make contributions to retirement-savings vehicles and receive the Federal Saver’s Match contribution; facilitate low-cost, safe, and informed retirement-savings decisions; and increase retirement saving.

Sec. 3. Federal Saver’s Match Implementation. (a) The Secretary of the Treasury shall take all necessary steps, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, to ensure that qualifying individuals who contribute to IRAs, including those who open IRAs listed on TrumpIRA.gov and otherwise satisfy all applicable requirements, receive the Federal Saver’s Match contribution.

(b) The Secretary of the Treasury shall take all necessary steps, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, to encourage financial institutions to accept the Federal Saver’s Match contributions in accordance with rules established by the Secretary.

Sec. 4. Charitable Contributions. The Secretary of the Treasury and the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service shall, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, provide guidance with respect to the tax treatment of contributions made by tax-exempt organizations to IRAs maintained by workers who are members of a charitable class entitled to receive the contribution without jeopardizing the organizations’ tax-exempt status.

Sec. 5. Worker Protection. The Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of Labor shall issue regulations, exemptions, or guidance, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, to ensure that IRAs maintained by financial institutions, including those listed on TrumpIRA.gov, protect workers, maintain transparency, and prevent prohibited transactions within the meaning of 26 U.S.C. 4975.

Sec. 6. Legislative Recommendations. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, shall prepare legislative recommendations to codify the policy set forth in this order so that workers lacking access to employer-provided retirement plans, including workers in small businesses, part‑time workers, independent contractors, and self-employed workers, have access to a retirement option with low fees, eligibility for the Federal Saver’s Match or other matching contributions, diversified index‑based investment options, automatic portfolio choices, and portability.

Sec. 7. Severability. If any provision of this order, or the application of any provision to any individual or circumstance, is held to be invalid, the remainder of this order and the application of its other provisions to any other individuals or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

Sec. 8. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

(d) The costs for publication of this order shall be borne by the Department of the Treasury.

Biden-Appointed Judge Orders Release of Dominican Illegal Alien Wanted for Murder by Interpol Red Notice Fugitive Now Roaming Free After ICE Arrest!

A young man in a black shirt stands beside a car, while a woman in glasses speaks passionately at a congressional hearing.

A Biden-appointed federal judge in Rhode Island has ordered the release of a Dominican illegal alien who is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice for murder in his home country.

The criminal illegal alien, Bryan Rafael Gomez, was arrested by ICE Boston in Worcester, Massachusetts on April 4th.

He had just been picked up locally for domestic abuse when a background check revealed Dominican authorities issued a criminal arrest warrant against him for homicide in 2023.

He is also the subject of an active Interpol Red Notice, an international arrest warrant for murder.

Gomez was detained at an ICE facility in Rhode Island. An immigration judge issued a deportation order on April 28th. But on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Melissa DuBose, a Biden appointee confirmed in 2024 as the first Black and openly LGBTQ federal judge in Rhode Island, ordered him released on the grounds of “continuous unlawful detention.”

ICE argued Gomez was subject to mandatory detention because of the international homicide warrant. The judge ignored that and set the wanted murderer free.

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin broke the bombshell on X Tuesday:

“I’m told by federal sources that a Dominican illegal alien with a deportation order & an Interpol Red Notice arrest warrant for murder in his home country was ordered released from ICE custody on Tuesday by Rhode Island federal judge Melissa DuBose (Biden appointee).

I’m told that international fugitive Bryan Rafael Gomez was arrested by ICE Boston in Worcester, MA on April 4th, and had been detained in a facility in Rhode Island where he was issued a deportation order on April 28th by an immigration judge.

On Tuesday, I’m told Judge DuBose ordered Gomez be released from ICE custody on the grounds of “continuous unlawful detention”, while ICE argued that Gomez was subject to mandatory detention due to having an international arrest warrant for homicide.

I’m told Gomez was released, is now roaming freely again, and ICE can’t rearrest him due to Judge DuBose’s order. He was caught and released at the southern border by the Biden administration in 2022.”

Let that sink in.

This illegal alien, wanted for murder abroad, was caught and released at the southern border by the Biden administration in 2022. ICE finally tracked him down in Massachusetts this month, got a deportation order… and a Biden judge set him loose on the streets of America.

ICE cannot rearrest him. Thanks to Judge DuBose’s ruling, this fugitive is now free to walk among us.

More from DOJ:

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued the following statement after an activist judge appointed by Joe Biden released a violent criminal illegal alien who is wanted for murder in the Dominican Republic.

On January 24, 2023, the Coordination of the Courts of Instruction of the National District of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, issued a criminal arrest warrant for Bryan Rafael Gomez for homicide.

On April 4, 2026, the Worcester Police Department arrested Gomez, a criminal illegal alien from the Dominican Republic, for assault and battery. The detainer was honored, and after he was released on $500 bail, ICE arrested Gomez.

On April 28, 2026, U.S. District Court Judge Melissa R. DuBose–who was appointed in the final days of the Biden administration–ordered Gomez’s release.

“Bryan Rafael Gomez is a criminal illegal alien from the Dominican Republic with an international warrant for homicide,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “An activist judge appointed by Joe Biden released this wanted murderer back into American communities. This is yet another example of an activist judge trying to thwart President Trump’s mandate from the American people to remove criminal illegal aliens from our communities. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, DHS will continue to fight for the removal of criminal illegal aliens who have no right to be in our country.”

Gomez entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and was encountered by U.S. Border Patrol near Lukeville, Arizona. He was then released by the Biden administration.

A Republican Oklahoma state senate candidate was found dead on Thursday, two days after he was reported missing.

Barry Christian, 54, a candidate for Senate District 38, was reported missing after he disappeared and was a no-show for a meeting on Tuesday.

On Thursday, authorities discovered Barry Christian’s pickup truck in the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area.

It is unclear if foul play was involved.

Investigators are processing the scene.

“Barry Christian, a candidate for Senate District 38, disappeared on Tuesday. He was found dead on Thursday, according to a news release from his campaign,” KOCO reported.

“The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that investigators were on the scene near Highway 30, just south of the town of Erick. OSBI confirmed to KOCO that a truck matching the one belonging to Christian was found in that same area on Thursday. Investigators were working to process the scene,” the outlet reported.

Barry Christian’s daughter, Brooklyn, released a statement to KOCO.

“Please pray for our family and friends. Our world is upside down right now. We are still not sure of everything that happened, so please act with grace and treat my dad’s legacy with dignity,” said his daughter, Brooklyn.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who assisted in the search efforts, and all of the media outlets that shared his information. I know there will be lots of people devastated by his passing,” she said.

Young man speaking directly to the camera about a budget crisis in New York City, referencing a recent declaration by Zohra Mamdani.

I knew this was going to happen, but I will admit I did not expect it to happen this fast.

Zohran Mamdani is on a speed run to show the world once again that socialism is a colossal failure.

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”
― Margaret Thatcher

The Gateway Pundit reported,

New York City’s new Democratic Socialist (communist) Mayor Zohran Mamdani is already running out of other people’s money.

Just three months after being sworn in and a campaign full of promises of free this and free that, Mamdani has declared that the city is in a ‘budget crisis’ which he claims is of historic magnitude.

He says that the city needs new forms of revenue, which translates roughly to new taxes, and he wants a bailout from the state.

This is just astounding.

New York City has an annual budget of approximately $120 billion. That’s not enough? He can’t make things work with that kind of money?

What a stark contrast from Mamdani’s campaign promises. Where’s all the free stuff? Where are the lower rents?

It’s almost like none of that was even possible in the first place.

This is a tale as old as time.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. Falling for the same old bait and switch tactic is like failing an open book exam.

Hopefully Zohran’s catastrophic failures will steer people away from making the same mistakes again.

Troubled singer Britney Spears has officially been charged with a misdemeanor in connection with a DUI.

Britney Spears recently checked into rehab for drugs and alcohol after she was arrested for DUI in Southern California, TMZ reported.

Last month, TMZ reported that the 44-year-old was taken to a hospital to have her blood drawn after she was pulled over and arrested for driving while intoxicated in Ventura, California.

Britney’s manager, Cade Hudson, told TMZ that Spears is going to take steps to comply with the law.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” Hudson told TMZ.

Page Six obtained dispatch audio that revealed Britney Spears was swerving ‘in and out’ of lanes before she was pulled over.

“Black BMW sedan in and out of lanes… speeding,” the dispatch audio revealed.

Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into rehab.

In recent years, Britney Spears has worried fans by posting troubling videos to her social media.

Mali Under Siege: Al-Qaeda and Separatists Launch Largest Coordinated Attack in the Country’s History

Militant group members display weapons and a banner in a rural setting, emphasizing themes of conflict and extremism.
A growing terrorist coalition in Mali, comprising FLA-JNIM

The growing terrorist coalition in Mali, comprising FLA-JNIM, does not yet match ISIS at its 2014 peak; however, JNIM is strangling the Malian state from within, blockading fuel supplies, taxing rural communities, coordinating with separatists, and positioning for negotiation rather than outright conquest.

On April 25, 2026, Mali suffered the largest coordinated jihadist attack in its history, as two armed groups, the al-Qaeda-affiliated Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) and the Tuareg separatist Azawad Liberation Front (FLA), struck simultaneously from the capital, Bamako, to the northern city of Kidal, roughly 1,500 km away.

The attack is the latest in a region that now leads the world in terrorist attacks. The Sahel, a band of West African states including Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Chad, accounts for over half of all terrorism-related deaths worldwide in 2025, a share that stood at under one percent less than two decades ago.

A wave of military coups since 2020 expelled Western and UN counterterrorism forces across the region and replaced them with Russian mercenaries, accelerating the collapse of state authority in rural areas that jihadist groups have systematically exploited. In the April 25 attack, terrorists struck Bamako, Kati, Sévaré, Mopti, Gao, and Kidal across Mali’s full geographic span. Shortly before 5:20 a.m., two explosions and heavy gunfire were reported near Kati, the main military base outside Bamako and the residence of junta leader Gen. Assimi Goïta.

A suicide attacker drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the residence of Defense Minister Sadio Camara. He survived the blast but later died of his injuries in the hospital. His second wife and two grandchildren were also killed.

Camara was a key architect of the military government’s security partnership with Russia, described by Ulf Laessing of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation as the “architect of cooperation with Russia.” He proposed deploying Russian mercenaries in 2021 and expelling MINUSMA, helped bring Wagner Group forces into Mali, and regularly announced Russian military equipment transfers, most recently after visiting his counterpart in June 2025.

In Bamako, sustained heavy weapons and automatic rifle fire were reported near Modibo Keïta International Airport, about 15 kilometers from the city center. All flights were canceled, and the U.S. Embassy issued a security alert urging Americans to shelter in place. A 72-hour curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. was imposed.

In the north, the FLA claimed control of Kidal within the first hour of fighting, with checkpoints at the city’s entrance changing hands. Malian troops and Russia’s Africa Corps withdrew from Kidal, Aguelhok, and Tessalit in Kidal Region; Tessit in Gao Region; and Ber in Tombouctou Region. Kidal had been recaptured in November 2023 with the help of Wagner Group forces and was touted as a major symbolic victory for the junta. Its loss now directly reverses that achievement and undermines the regime’s claim that its pivot toward Russia improved security.

FLA spokesman Mohamed Elmaouloud Ramadane told the BBC the operation had been long planned and coordinated with JNIM. A field commander said preparations took months and that the rebels aimed to block the Kidal–Tessalit road to prevent reinforcements, with the goal of seizing Gao before moving on to Timbuktu.

Separately, fighters from the Islamic State Sahel Province (ISSP) entered the northeastern town of Menaka near the Niger border by Tuesday morning, according to residents, security analysts, and an FLA official. They established checkpoints in some neighborhoods while Malian soldiers withdrew to a nearby camp, with no direct clashes reported.

JNIM and ISSP have fought since 2019, with more than 2,100 killed in their clashes, according to ACLED. Their simultaneous advances on separate fronts highlight the Malian military’s inability to hold territory against either group.

The April 25 offensive culminated months of military and economic pressure. On March 22, 2026, the junta struck a hostage deal with JNIM that included a pause in fuel convoy attacks through at least the end of May, meaning the offensive was launched while a negotiated détente was still in effect.
On March 31, FLA rebels used drones to strike a Russian-Malian camp in eastern Mali. Since 2023, JNIM has conducted nearly 100 drone attacks, reflecting a steady increase in tactical capability.

From September 2025, JNIM intensified attacks on fuel convoys, targeting tankers and blocking key supply routes from Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire, causing severe fuel shortages. In July, the Maçina Liberation Front (FLM), JNIM’s most active coalition member, launched seven simultaneous attacks across western Mali, expanding operations beyond its traditional northern and central strongholds. In August 2025, JNIM struck Malian army positions in Farabougou and Biriki-Were in the Ségou region, drawing condemnation from the African Union Commission.

Gen. Goïta did not appear publicly until April 29, four days after the attacks, when his office released photos of him meeting Russian Ambassador Igor Gromyko. The two discussed the situation and Russia’s support for Mali. That evening, Goïta declared “the situation is under control” and vowed “the complete neutralization of the groups involved.” His absence had fueled speculation about the junta’s cohesion. Independent researchers say that the Malian army is now fragmented, with commanders negotiating separately for their own troops rather than operating under unified command.

JNIM spokesman Bina Diarra released a video threatening a full siege of Bamako, describing the attacks as retaliation for Malian drone strikes. “As of today, Bamako is closed off from all sides,” he said.

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed its Africa Corps forces prevented a coup by stopping insurgents from seizing key facilities and inflicting heavy losses. The claim is unverified and contradicts reports that Russian forces withdrew from multiple northern positions.

Analysts note parallels with HTS in Syria, where a rebel coalition aligned with al-Qaeda overthrew Bashar al-Assad in 2024 and transitioned into a governing political-military force. JNIM appears to be pursuing a similar strategy, combining military pressure with positioning for influence over future authorities rather than outright control.

The group already exercises de facto authority in areas it controls, imposing its interpretation of sharia, dispensing justice, and collecting taxes, including zakat, while banning secular music, alcohol, and uncovered women.

The Africa Center for Strategic Studies assesses that the insurgent threat now exceeds the Malian military’s capacity and poses growing risks to coastal West African states. The April 25 attacks are not an isolated escalation but part of a sustained trajectory targeting key elements of Mali’s security structure, with no sign of reversing.

Everyone’s waiting for SpaceX to go public.

That’s the mistake.

IPOs are liquidity events.
They’re not ground-floor opportunities.

By the time the bell rings:
• Early capital is already multiplied
• Institutions are already positioned
• Valuation has already expanded

This isn’t new.

Amazon. Google. Tesla.
Opening day buyers didn’t build generational wealth.

Early positioning did.

What if you could compress a lifetime of wealth-building…

Ten… twenty… even thirty years…

Into a single 24-hour window?

It sounds absurd.

But Elon Musk is about to make it a reality with something I’m calling…

Epstein’s ‘temple’ or ‘Mosque’ in Little Saint James ‘Pedophile’ Island

A secular Jew with a Mosque on his ‘Pedophile Island’?

For years, the same MSM that denied the existence of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring continued to call the temple on his Little Saint James island a ‘gym’.

But independent journalists who were paying attention knew that the golden dome and the symbolic bird statues atop it had some form of ritualistic function, not to mention the fact that the architecture imitated a bathhouse in Aleppo, Syria.

And of course, once images from the inside were released, with the painting of the constellations and the columns, there could be no doubt that that building served as a temple.

Yesterday, the New York Times came with a report of how Epstein decorated his ‘Mosque’ with embroidered tapestries from the Kaaba in Mecca, Islam’s holiest shrine.

Quite the leap from a humble ‘gym’, right?

The report describes how Epstein used his connections across the Middle East to furnish the building – described as a music room, a pavilion, a chapel or an occult temple – with original artifacts.

“But correspondence between Mr. Epstein and his associates over many years, and an interview with an artist hired to work on it, illuminate its intended purpose. For Mr. Epstein, a secular Jew, the building was a ‘mosque’.

[…] His vision for an island shrine began while he was in a Palm Beach County, Fla., jail, having pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution. Before his release in 2009, Mr. Epstein hired architects to design a ‘hammam’, a Turkish bathhouse surrounded by ‘Islamic gardening’, according to his correspondence.”

Interior of a room featuring an ornate wooden bookshelf with twisted columns and decorative details, set against a backdrop of patterned wallpaper and a dark ceiling.
Interior of the ‘Mosque’ after it had been partially dismantled.

Officially, he sought a permit for a ‘music room’.

“Ion Nicola, a Romanian artist, was hired for the project. In an interview in March, Mr. Nicola confirmed that Mr. Epstein regularly called the building his ‘mosque’. (It remains unclear if Mr. Epstein intended that the building ever be used as an actual mosque.)”

Epstein leveraged his ties with Mohammed bin Salman, crown prince of Saudi Arabia, to find more items that would soon be shipped ‘for his mosque’, including ‘3 pieces from the Kaaba’, as his assistant told a customs broker.

Aziza Al Ahmadi, aide to a consultant to the Saudi royal court, described the tapestry from the Kaaba:

“’The black piece was touched by minimum 10 million Muslims of different denominations, Sunni, Shia and others’, she said. ‘They walk around the Kaaba seven rounds then everyone tries as much as they can to touch it and they kept their prayers, wishes, tears and hopes on this piece. Hoping after that all their prayers to be accepted’.”

Blanche Pushed Prosecutors to Pursue Comey Trump Instagram Assassination Threat Case After Bondi Put it on Ice: Report

Official announcement by Department of Justice officials at a press conference, featuring a speaker at a podium with the DOJ seal and American flags in the background.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche pushed prosecutors to pursue the Comey Trump Instagram assassination threat case after Pam Bondi put it on ice.

It was reported last year that Comey was under investigation for posting an ’86 47′ threat on Instagram.

Comey Trump assassination social media post (Screenshot via @Comey on X)

Bondi reportedly put the case on the backburner, but Blanche revived it and urged prosecutors to pursue charges.

Earlier this week James Comey was indicted by a grand jury in the Eastern District of North Carolina on two felony counts:

COUNT ONE: Knowingly and willfully make a threat to take the life of, and to inflict bodily harm upon, the President of the United States;

COUNT TWO: knowingly and willfully did transmit in interstate and foreign commerce a communication that contained a threat to kill the President, Donald J. Trump

US Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina Ellis Boyle delivered remarks on the two-count indictment returned by the grand jury on Tuesday.

WATCH:

A reporter earlier this week asked Todd Blanche why it took it nearly a year to bring charges against Comey in connection with his Instagram post.

“Director Comey posted this almost a year ago. Why bring this case now? Did you always feel like this was a strong prosecution or did something change recently?” the reporter asked.

“This investigation just didn’t come now. It’s the result of a lot of work by law enforcement over the past year,” Blanche said.

“We don’t time when we bring cases around anything other than when the investigation is at a place where we should go to the grand jury,” he said.

MS NOW reported:

The move to charge former FBI Director James Comey with threatening the president with a picture of seashells shifted into overdrive earlier this month after President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi and named Todd Blanche as the acting replacement, according to two people familiar with the effort.

Then-Attorney General Bondi had pushed her team to keep pursuing Virginia-based charges against Comey for lying to Congress, concluding that case was significantly stronger than potential charges based in North Carolina that he threatened to kill or harm Trump. The threat case appeared to have largely been put on indefinite hold a few months after May 2025, when Comey posted a picture of seashells on a North Carolina beach arranged to spell out “8647” and investigators first opened a case to consider if his Instagram posting constituted a criminal threat of harm.

In late March, before Bondi’s firing, Justice Department aides were urging that they delay charging Comey on the presidential threat case and wait until the Senate confirmed interim U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle to be the permanent head of the federal prosecutors’ office in the Eastern District of North Carolina, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

But after Bondi was out, and new acting Attorney General Blanche sought to win Trump’s appointment to the job permanently, the “seashells” case gained new steam, the people said. Blanche’s aides instructed Boyle to seek a grand jury indictment of Comey and he and a relatively junior prosecutor obtained one in the Eastern District on April 28.
