A parachuter crashed into the scoreboard at Virginia Tech.

A parachuter slammed into Virginia Tech’s stadium scoreboard moments before kickoff on Saturday, leaving the jumper dangling above the field and delaying the school’s spring football game.

Video shows two parachuters carrying American flags descending into the stadium.

The first cleared the scoreboard without issue, but the second appeared to catch wind and veer off course, crashing into the large “Virginia Tech” video board.

The impact left the parachute tangled between the letters, tearing part of the structure and exposing internal lighting.

The parachuter also dropped an American flag and smaller chute into the stands below.

Having been scheduled for a 3pm start, was delayed for more than an hour as emergency crews worked to reach the stranded jumper using a crane.

The parachuter was eventually brought down safely after roughly 45 minutes.

Footage of the incident circulated across social media:

Virginia Tech have since announced that the “skydiver was safely secured and is currently stable.”

“We are grateful to report that the skydiver was safely secured and is currently stable. Our primary focus remains on their well-being,” they wrote in a post on the X platform.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to the first responders, event staff, and medical personnel for their swift, coordinated and professional response.”

The match was Virginia Tech’s spring game, which is essentially a practice scrimmage between two in-house teams.

As is typical for spring games, no official score or result is recorded, with the focus instead on preparation for the upcoming season.

‘Clearly a Human in a Bear Suit’: California Trio Jailed for Staging Fake Bear Attacks on Rolls-Royce and Mercedes in $142K Insurance Scam (VIDEO)

Surveillance footage shows a mysterious figure near a car, alongside a collection of Bigfoot costume parts laid out indoors.

Three Los Angeles-area residents have been sentenced to jail time after pleading no contest to felony insurance fraud in a bizarre scheme that involved dressing in a bear costume to stage fake attacks on luxury vehicles and then filing fraudulent insurance claims.

According to the California Department of Insurance, the defendants, Alfiya Zuckerman, 39, Ruben Tamrazian, 26, and Vahe Muradkhanyan, 32, used the costume to damage a 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost and two Mercedes vehicles before submitting video “evidence” to multiple insurance companies claiming a real bear was responsible.

The scam, dubbed “Operation Bear Claw” by state investigators, began with a suspicious claim filed in January 2024 in Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino Mountains.

The group told insurers a bear had entered the parked Rolls-Royce and caused interior damage. They provided security camera footage showing the “bear” rummaging through the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed two additional claims filed on the same date and at the same location involving the Mercedes vehicles, each accompanied by similar video footage.

A biologist from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife reviewed the videos and confirmed the animal was “clearly a human in a bear suit.”

WATCH:

Detectives later executed a search warrant at one of the suspects’ homes and recovered the exact bear costume used in the videos, along with meat-claw shredders.

The fraud resulted in insurance companies losing $141,839.

On Thursday, the three defendants were sentenced in San Bernardino County Superior Court.

Each received a sentence of 180 days, to be served via a weekend jail program, two years of supervised probation, and orders to pay restitution.

Zuckerman was ordered to pay $55,360; Tamrazian, $52,268; and Muradkhanyan’s restitution amount is still to be determined.

A fourth suspect, Ararat Chirkinian, 39, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in September.

California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara said in a press release:

“What may have looked unbelievable turned out to be exactly that — and now those responsible are being held accountable. My Department’s investigators uncovered the facts, exposed this scam, and helped bring these defendants to justice. Insurance fraud is a serious crime that drives up costs for consumers, and no scheme is too outrageous for us to investigate.”

Genius and Controversy: The Story of Hans Niemann

A new Netflix documentary investigates the rise of America’s next chess star.

FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championships 2025 DAY 3
(Photo by Noushad Thekkayil/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

It’s been more than 50 years since an American was crowned the world champion of chess.

The Chicago-born Bobby Fischer held the distinction between 1972 and 1975 after he defeated the Russian Boris Spassky in what is still called the “Match of the Century.” The championship, played in Reykjavík, Iceland, occurred at the height of the Cold War and served as a de facto intellectual battlefield between the two great powers.

But the ’72 title fight isn’t only remembered for the games themselves. The matchup is also remembered for the way Fischer acted in the lead up and during the tournament itself. First, the enigmatic American discussed bypassing the championship altogether. Fischer wanted more money and improved playing conditions such as better lighting and decreased camera noise. At one point, it looked like the match might never happen.

In the end, Fischer did show. But after losing the first match to Spassky, Fischer refused to appear for Game 2 which was ruled as a forfeit victory for Spassky. Fischer lobbied to have the remaining matches moved to a private room without an audience and only minimal cameras present. Surprisingly, Spassky agreed. Over the course of the next 19 games, Fischer turned the tables on Spassky and won the championship by a convincing overall score of 12½–8½.

Fischer never again competed in the official world championship cycle. He clashed over rules with officials of FIDE (International Chess Federation) and demanded a new format for the 1975 world chess championship where he was set to defend his title against the Russian Anatoly Karpov. When FIDE refused to budge, Fischer withdrew from competitive chess, abandoning the game at the professional level for the next 20 years.

What does any of this have to do with American chess player Hans Moke Niemann? A lot. Fischer was brilliant, combative, and unyielding in his approach to the gentleman’s game. Niemann has cultivated a similar presence. Since the Covid-19 boom in online chess, Niemann has bowled his way into the upper ranks of the game, bringing with him not just victories, but controversy, suspicion, and a style that seems to dare the chess world to challenge him.

The Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen has defined the world of chess for nearly two decades now. He became the world’s Number 1 player at 19, and in the 16 years since, Carlsen has not only won but dominated with a style that has come to define what modern chess excellence looks like. Cold, calculated, and devastating—that’s Magnus.

In interviews, he’s warm enough, especially for a chess genius. But what he makes up for with grace, he definitively lacks in punch. That’s where Niemann comes in. A savant of the internet age, Niemann’s rise through the chess rankings was spurred on by a surge of interest in the game that coincided with the Covid lockdowns. As people were forced to stay inside, the internet became the one-stop-shop for most social interactions, and chess found new legs.

Chess.com became the central hub of the internet-era chess boom, and the main platform where Niemann gained visibility during his rise. Though he was already a strong junior player who had already attained the rank of grandmaster in 2021, Niemann was star-ready for a platform that allowed visibility for his theatrics and access to challenge some of the premier players in the world.

Niemann leveraged his ability to perform in front of the camera, gaining attention along with his rise up the world chess ranking. Some were put off by his antics. Others could see clearly how Niemann’s trash-talking demeanor was entertaining a new generation of amateur players and watchers. As his star rose, so too did the inevitability of a matchup against Carlsen and other top chess players. That’s where the new Netflix documentary Untold: Chess Mates picks up, right at the apex of Niemann’s new stardom and with a match against Carlsen at the 2022 Sinquefield Cup in St. Louis.

That match appeared ordinary enough in the lead up. But then, the game was played. Niemann, who at the time was viewed as a rising grandmaster but not necessarily on the level of Carlsen, defeated the Norwegian master in a hard-fought match where Niemann leveraged his opening preparation to gain an advantage over Carlsen from the onset of the match. In the documentary, Niemann admits he had prepared deeply for the opening that arose in the game, a decision that Erik Allebest and Danny Rensch, the founder and “chief chess officer” of Chess.com, argued is like “finding a needle in a haystack.”

After the game, Carlsen, who had battled Niemann before the Sinquefield Cup, felt cheated. He considered confronting Niemann at his hotel room but Carlsen’s father convinced him to steer clear of such theatrics. Instead, Carlsen withdrew from the tournament and his father Henrik spoke with Allebest, whose organization had already begun conducting a review of Niemann’s online games. Their anti-cheating algorithm had spotted anomalies. Within weeks of the Sinquefield Cup controversy, Chess.com closed Niemann’s account following an internal review of his prior online play.

This division between the Carlsens, Chess.com, and Niemann is what makes up most of the Netflix documentary. At times, Niemann sounds like Fischer, paranoid and angry, constantly complaining about an elite cabal of chess insiders hellbent on destroying his career. But where there’s smoke there’s often fire. In the aftermath of his victory against Carlsen, and with added scrutiny on his past games, Niemann admitted to using chess engines in rated online games. For many, this was proof enough that Niemann could no longer be trusted, no matter the circumstances.

But Niemann argued that the cheating occurred when he was in his teens, years before the current scandal, and only in online settings, never in over-the-board competitions such as the Sinquefield Cup. The fallout from the entire saga took the chess boom to another level as viral internet accounts and the likes of Piers Morgan questioned if Niemann had used a vibrating sex toy to gain an advantage against Carlsen during his game at the Sinquefield Cup. “Every conversation I have about chess”, Niemann says in the documentary, “leads to anal beads.”

Niemann has always denied he cheated against Carlsen in St. Louis. Officials at Chess.com attempted to use its anti-cheating software to determine if Niemann had cheated over-the-board, but were unable to prove definitively he had. Niemann wasn’t going down without a fight. In October of 2022, he filed a $100 million lawsuit against Chess.com, Carlsen, and others alleging defamation, blacklisting, and antitrust violations. A federal judge dismissed elements of Niemann’s filing and after Chess.com denied wrongdoing, the case never reached trial and a settlement was reached in August of 2023. Though the terms remain confidential, Niemann’s account was fully reinstated by Chess.com.

“I never received an apology,” Niemann tweeted on April 7 after the documentary premiered. “Let that sink in.” Netflix’s Untold is the classic hero story. A young, American kid with all the fire and bravado in the world pitted against elite and international forces who he argues has done everything in their power to slow his ascent. How much of that is true is left for the viewer to decide. And how far Hans Niemann goes in the world of chess will be determined only by what he does next.

Can King Trump Pull the Sword From the Hormuz?

Can King Trump Pull the Sword From the Hormuz?

Whichever nation reopens the sea passage will prove itself a great power in the region.

The intensity and apparent aims of America’s war with Iran have shifted quite a few times since the first day of shock and awe in late February to the current ceasefire and negotiations. After an opening round of peace talks in Islamabad last weekend, President Donald Trump announced a plan to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, which the U.S. Navy implemented days later.

On Friday, Iran announced it would reopen the strait for the remaining few days of the ceasefire but would require ships to travel on a pre-approved route in coordination with the Islamic Republic. If Trump can get Iran to fully open the waterway as part of a peace deal, he will have claimed a significant victory. If not, the world will face a new paradigm in the Hormuz. That the U.S. has come to the negotiating table, rather than opening the strait with force suggests it recognizes the limits of military force.

Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz marked a new chapter in a war initially launched as part of a campaign to remake the region. After the Islamic Republic survived the opening onslaught, a new war aim emerged for Washington: to reopen the Strait. The climbdown is notable and tragic. U.S. goals shifted from domination and regime change to a restoration of the prewar status quo. The strategic reorientation makes sense but also demonstrates the folly of the hawks—and reveals the true and dramatic potential costs of the war with Iran.

This is not the first time a Western power has fought to maintain waterways and a system dependent on them in the east. The lessons of the Suez Crisis—when Britain, France and Israel tried to seize the Suez Canal but were forced to withdraw—loom large. In the 1950s, the U.S. was the outside party that was able to impose order and, later, help reopen sea passages. Taking a firm line against U.S. allies, President Dwight D. Eisenhower blocked IMF aid for the British and went even farther by calling for the United Nations to impose economic sanctions against Israel.

Eisenhower recognized that the ability to seize control was worth upsetting allies, especially when those allies have few other willing and capable partners. In that sense, he acted as a sort of King Arthur-esque figure—by pulling the sword from the Suez, America established itself as ruler of the seas and a great power in the region. The British and French are, in this metaphor, far more tragic figures—for them, the era marked the sunset of empire. They were no longer capable of directly imposing their will on the world. In fairness, this may have been something already lost, but Suez provided a vivid demonstration of that fact on the world stage.

The Suez Crisis isn’t an exact historical analogy for the current U.S. intervention, in part because America has no allies with the power to truly constrain its foreign policy, but the parallels are obvious: A world power is trying to reopen a vital sea passage, and failure would demonstrate its decline in relative power.

Global trade demands that some nation or group of nations reopen the strait. If one nation plays a leading or solo role in that process—perhaps the U.S., China, or Iran itself—it will correctly be seen as an imperial power in the region.

Hawks have taken notice. Mark Dubowitz of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, speaking on a recent New York Times podcast episode, argued that “there’s still the battle of Hormuz to be won or lost, and I think that’s going to be a decisive battle that will determine whether President Trump can legitimately claim a major military success at the end of all of this.” If the battle is lost though, then what? What does a major military failure look like?

One might say the recurrent tendency of American politicians to commit and recommit to the Middle East over the past two decades shows exactly what failure looks like—the continual squandering of blood, treasure, and soft power to either wind up in a worse place than we started or back to square one. In that sense, the Hormuz crisis represents a familiar problem. But earlier failures, while important, were not as destructive as they would’ve been with a peer competitor watching our mistakes from afar, as we have with China today.

If neither negotiations nor U.S. military action manage to restore the pre-war status quo in the strait, it will be a humiliation perhaps greater than what France and Britain experienced during the Suez Crisis. The Trump administration risked competition with China in Asia by recommitting to the Middle East, but if the U.S. can’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic costs of the war with Iran would be greater than even many critics have realized.

We entered the war to project power in one region at the cost of withdrawing armaments and commitments from another, more important region. And we may yet wind up with control and influence over each being sacrificed together.

UTTER DISGRACE: Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut Trashes America and President Trump While Speaking Overseas in Spain (VIDEO)

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

Senator Chris Murphy is at the far left ‘In Defense of Democracy’ Summit in Barcelona, Spain this weekend, making a total jackass out of himself, trashing America and insulting President Trump.

Murphy is a lot like Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. Stupid, loud, obnoxious, and willing to lie about Trump constantly. Murphy has not dialed back his insane anti-Trump rhetoric even once since the 2024 election. If anything, he has gotten worse.

During his remarks, he actually used the dumb, tired line about Trump being a threat to our democracy. When will these idiots retire that ridiculous talking point?

The Hill reports:

Murphy told the crowd at the inaugural Global Progressive Mobilization conference in Barcelona that the U.S. faced “the most significant threat” to democratic institutions since the Civil War, and Americans were “watching the courage of the defenders of democracy” in Hungary and other parts of Europe.

“That victory in Hungary just a week ago, it lifted our sails in the United States of America,” he said. “So, I want us to make sure one more time that we give a hearty, loud thanks to the people of Hungary for saving their democracy and perhaps helping to save ours.”

The Connecticut Democrat, who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, painted the picture of an America “in crisis,” likening President Trump’s actions to a “totalitarian takeover.”

“He is trying to seize control of our courts, of our law enforcement, of our media, of our elections. His goal is oligarchic capture,” Murphy said, describing the current White House as “the most corrupt” in the nation’s history.

He called on progressives to unite to counter right-wing populism across the globe, pointing to AfD party in Germany, far-right National Rally leader Marine Le Pen in France, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Orbán and Trump.

Watch the video of this fool below:

Murphy is probably planning to run for president in 2028, not because he thinks he can win – he can’t – but because he wants a position in the next Democrat administration. Again, he’s just like Elizabeth Warren, always looking for his next promotion.

Bill Maher Talks About ‘Creep’ Eric Swalwell, Showing He’s Not a Coward Like Colbert and Kimmel (VIDEO)

Screencap of YouTube video.

Bill Maher devoted a segment of his show on Friday night to talking about ‘creep’ Eric Swalwell and the explosive scandal that has unfolded around him over the last two weeks.

Maher may be a liberal, but at least he is willing to talk about this, unlike Colbert and Kimmel who wimped out on the topic completely.

Maher mentioned the fact that Swalwell had been on his show before but said that he gave him bad vibes.

FOX News reports:

Comedian Bill Maher blasted former U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., as a “f—ing creep” in a “Real Time” takedown Friday, pointing to previous encounters with the disgraced Democrat that raised red flags.

“I’ve got to say, we had him on a couple of times. Ask my staff, I never liked him,” Maher said.

“I’ve always thought this guy was a f—ing creep. I never liked him and, yet, so many Democrats stood by him, and now that we’re finding out that it was such an open secret.”

Maher highlighted a slew of other “open secrets” involving figures in the past who faced similar allegations, including former film producer Harvey Weinstein, former comedian Bill Cosby, former U.S. Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, and former President Bill Clinton.

“I hear this so many times. … It was an open secret,” he said. “What is going on here where it takes so long for the open secret to [come out]?”

Here’s the clip:

Colbert and Kimmel skipped over the story all week long.

Breitbart News reports:

Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert Silent on Swalwell Rape Allegations for an Entire Week

Neither far-left late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel nor Stephen Colbert have mentioned the resignation of disgraced Democrat Eric Swalwell in their monologues this week — despite showing big support for him before the congressman’s scandals drove him out of politics.

The California Democrat not only resigned his seat in the House on Monday, but he also dropped his bid for California Governor after a growing number of women have come forward to allege that he sexually harassed them — or even sexually assaulted them — throughout his political career.

Swalwell was a huge devotee of the big networks’ late-night comedy shows, appearing on most of them and getting a big boost from both ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, both of which had Swalwell on to flog his run for California governor.

Maher deserves credit for at least discussing the topic. It is a rather big story.

New York City’s new democratic socialist (communist) Mayor Zohran Mamdani took a moment this week to tell people of the city about an exciting new invention called rat-proof trash bins, which he will be implementing by the year 2031.

You absolutely could not make this up.

Couldn’t he put these bins all over the city by say… this coming week if he wanted to? Who needs a five-year plan to put out trash cans?

WABC News in New York reports:

Containerized trash is expanding to six more New York City districts by the end of 2027, as the Mamdani administration targets citywide containerization by 2031.

Businesses and low-density residential buildings are already required to put their trash bags in containers for pickup.

Over the next year, the Sanitation Department will distribute large Empire Bins to all residential buildings with 30 units or more in the six districts.

Officials say 6,500 large Empire garbage bins will be rolled out for more than 3,500 buildings in this expansion.

They can be only opened by building staff with a keycard, or by sanitation workers…

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said in a statement, “In the wealthiest city in the wealthiest nation in the history of the world, no New Yorker should have their sidewalks covered in garbage. By finishing the job on containerization, we will ensure New York City’s streets remain the envy of the world. We have the plan, we’re investing the money and we’re delivering on the promise of clean, healthy streets for every neighborhood.”

He actually did an announcement about this. Watch:

This is an accomplishment?

Congratulations, New Yorkers. Enjoy that amazing new technology – When you finally get it in five years or so.

Former Clinton Adviser Dick Morris Drops Major Bombshell About Bill and Hill’s Marriage (VIDEO)

Screencap of Twitter/X video.

You may remember former Clinton adviser Dick Morris from his many cable news appearances over the years. This week, he appeared on Newsmax and dropped some major dirt about Bill and Hillary Clinton’s marriage problems over the years.

According to Morris, when Bill Clinton was president, he actually had polling done to see how it would affect him if he divorced Hillary, or if she divorced him. And he did it several times. He apparently felt the need to keep checking the numbers.

It just confirms what many people have believed for years, that the Clintons basically had a marriage that may have been about love at one point, but which eventually devolved into a relationship of political convenience.

PJ Media has details:

Dick Morris has finally confirmed what many people have long suspected: Bill Clinton, while sitting in the Oval Office, seriously entertained the idea of divorcing Hillary — and he had his longtime political advisor run the polls to find out if he could survive it politically.

Morris, who advised Clinton for years, as far back as his 1970s gubernatorial campaigns in Arkansas, appeared on Newsmax and dropped a bombshell that has somehow received far too little attention.

When host Rob Finnerty asked Morris to confirm the rumor, the answer was blunt.

“Yes, actually several times,” Morris said. “It was a constant topic of conversation between then-President Clinton and myself, and the storminess of the Clinton marriage made that relevant.”

It was actually four or five times, by Morris’s count. The man wasn’t merely curious; he kept returning to the question.

Morris said the first time was the most consequential, and he came back to Clinton with a clear message: if you’re going to do this, you need to lay the groundwork first. “I came back to him, and I said that if you did that, you have to prepare people by explaining how Hillary has an independent career and has independent priorities.”

Watch the video below:

It’s not exactly shocking news, but again, it does confirm what so many people have suspected for so long.

Lee Zeldin Weighs in on President Trump’s Energy Dominance Policies and the Northeast Supply Enhancement Pipeline – (VIDEO)

Political commentator speaking in front of the U.S. Capitol, wearing a dark suit and red tie, discussing current events during a televised interview.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin was on “Wake Up America Weekend” on Newsmax on Saturday to talk about President Trump’s energy dominance.

Zeldin explained that climate alarmists contributed to unnecessary regulations that cost Americans trillions of dollars.

The video opens with Zeldin this past week at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Northeast Supply Enhancement Pipeline.

“This project will move gas underwater from Pennsylvania to New York to help meet the high energy demands in the area. One of the many initiatives from the Trump EPA to help bring down the cost of energy,” Newsmax host said.

“So, tell us about this project, and why projects like this are so important?” Newsmax host asked.

“Thanks to President Trump’s leadership after he declared a national energy emergency and formed the National Energy Dominance Counsel right after he was sworn back in for this term. He was strongly advocating for this NESE pipeline to get built to deliver natural gas to millions of families,” Zeldin said.

“This project now had a groundbreaking this past week and it’s expected to be done by the end of 2027 and this is something that’s been an urgent need,” Zeldin said.

“I’m a New Yorker. I was an elected official on Long Island for a very long time. There has been a desperate push for more natural gas supply, but it didn’t get done until President Trump pushed for it,” Zeldin continued.

“Last week, you gave the keynote speech at the Heartland Institute Conference on climate change in Washington DC,” Newsmax said.

Zeldin explained that when a person disagrees with the climate alarmists, they are usually attacked and labeled. One of the main reasons is because these climate extremists want to hold on to power.

“What you have had over the course of many, many years is that you have people in this country who see predictions made from an Al Gore or John Kerry or an AOC. AOC saying the world is about to end,” Zeldin said.

“There are people like well, maybe the world isn’t about to actually end,” Zeldin continued.

“What happened in 2009 was that the Obama administration created this endangerment finding to give themselves power to put forth trillions of dollars of regulation,” Zeldin explained.

“It all started with them giving themselves this power with a very creative interpretation of section 202 of the Clean Air Act,” Zeldin continued.

“Any American who has an issue with anything that I just stated here in the last minute will get attacked and labeled and vilified from those who want to be able to hoard more power. They want to impose that control over the economy and have trillions of dollars of regulation even though Congress didn’t pass any type of bill signing off on it,” Zeldin explained.
