Welfare Loophole That Lets Millionaires Get Food Stamps

Rob Undersander is a millionaire. He also received taxpayer-funded food stamps. His story illustrates an absurd – and intentional – loophole in America’s welfare system that taxpayers need closed immediately.

Rob applied for food stamps in 2016. A Minnesota resident, he clearly exceeded the program’s asset limits. But in the application process, he was deemed eligible to receive a brochure on domestic violence services, which under state policy allowed him to receive food stamps. Three weeks later, his first food-stamp benefits arrived in the mail. The taxpayer cash arrived like clockwork for the next 19 months, ultimately amounting to more than $6,000. (Rob only did this to prove the system was broken, and instead of keeping the money, he donated every penny to charity.)

It’s no accident that despite being a millionaire, Rob received welfare payments that are supposed to be for the truly vulnerable. The federal government and states have conspired to create a system that intentionally bypasses the program’s eligibility standards. Call it fraud by design.

Federal law establishes two ways to qualify for stamps – either by meeting the income and asset limits, or by qualifying for a cash welfare program. But in 1999, the Clinton administration issued guidance that lets states decide what qualifies as a benefit under those programs. States have responded by offering benefits that are nothing of the kind, in a deliberate attempt to bypass the asset and income limits for food stamps. The domestic violence brochure that Rob received is a good example. States routinely print pamphlets or establish hotlines that have nothing to do with food stamps, yet states deem them as benefits that let ineligible people get on the program anyway.

The Clinton administration frankly admitted the guidance violated congressional intent. The Obama administration later encouraged as many states as possible to use this loophole, while giving it a formal name: “Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility.” Today, 43 states and Washington, D.C.. have embraced this fraud. Our organization estimates that at least 5.9 million otherwise ineligible people are enrolled in food stamps through this loophole. They are also a major reason why at least one out of every $10 spent on food stamps is improper.

The good news is that states now have a reason to close this loophole. Starting in 2027, thanks to the reconciliation bill President Trump signed last year, states with a food-stamp spending error rate of 6% or higher must pay for a portion of the program’s cost. Some 42 states and D.C.are in that boat, and if they want the federal government to continue paying for 100% of food stamps, they must enact reforms to get fraud under control.

Eliminating Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility is an obvious solution. USDA data shows that more than 80% of payment errors are to households enrolled in food stamps in this way. Closing the loophole could bring most of the fraud-ridden states back to a level where the federal government picks up all the program’s tab. Clearly, there’s interest: Indiana ended this fraud by design earlier this year.

Blue states will be the least likely to enact this reform, given the left’s obsession with welfare for all. But the White House could make opposition moot by closing the loophole via regulation. The first Trump administration proposed such a rule in 2019, but the Biden administration swiftly withdrew it. President Trump has announced a forthcoming rule to finish the job. Unfortunately, a future Democrat (or squishy Republican) could restore this fraud by design with a regulation of their own. Ultimately, Congress needs to codify President Trump’s forthcoming rule and close this loophole via law, perhaps in a second reconciliation bill this year.

Welfare fraud is always unacceptable, but the current system of fraud by design is especially egregious. Food stamps exist to serve the truly vulnerable – not middle-class Americans. And certainly not millionaires.

Fact-Checking Trump’s Claims About Iran

Fact-Checking Trump’s Claims About Iran

A speech by the president last week featured many inaccuracies.

President Trump Addresses The Nation On The Conflict In Iran

Last week President Donald Trump delivered an address on the Iran war to the American people. In only 19 minutes, he presented Americans with at least eight fabrications. Since I’ve been hearing war-supporting commentators repeating those false claims this week, I’ve decided to provide a helpful dissection of them below.

#1. Operation Epic Fury targeted “the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.”

Trump has frequently repeated this misleading claim before, most recently in his February 28 video making his case for his war on Iran.

Trump made this claim in his speech without evidence and in contradiction of the intelligence provided to him. The 2024 Global Terrorism Index states that the “deadliest terrorist groups in the world… were Islamic State (IS) and its affiliates, followed by Jamaat Nusrat Al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM), Hamas, and al-Shabaab.” None of these groups is Shiite, and none, with the exception of Hamas, is affiliated with Iran. The U.S. has long known that many of these organizations are supported by Saudi Arabia. Iran has sided with the U.S. against some of these groups and has itself been the victim of attacks by them.

#2. Iran is responsible for “countless heinous acts.”

Trump recited a list of Iranian attacks on U.S. interests, as he had done in his 2017 speech decertifying the 2015 JCPOA Iran nuclear deal and in his February video. Not one item on the list is accurate.

Trump says that Iran’s “proxies were behind the murder of 241 Americans and the Marine barracks bombing in Beirut.” Amputated from its context, the claim is true; reattached to its context, it is critically misleading. The 1983 Hezbollah bombing was an attack on a military base in Beirut belonging to a foreign invader that was actively and currently bombing Lebanon. The bombing is plausibly seen more as an act of war than as a heinous act of terrorism.

Next on the list is Iran’s “slaughter of hundreds of our service members with roadside bombs.” Again, the roadside bombs killed service members in war. But the claim is false. As Stephen Zunes, professor of politics and director of Middle Eastern studies at the University of San Francisco, has explained, the vast majority of the improvised explosive devices Trump is referring to were manufactured and used not by Iran, as then-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine General Peter Pace and the British and Iraqi governments have admitted, but by Iraqi guerillas, most of whom were Ba’athist, and by Sunni groups who were anti-Iranian.

Third on Trump’s list is that Iran was “involved in the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.” The U.S. knows that it was not Iran, but Al Qaeda, that attacked the U.S.S. Cole. Not only did Al Qaeda claim responsibility for the attack, but the official FBI website says, “The extensive FBI investigation ultimately determined that members of the al Qaeda terrorist network planned and carried out the bombing.”

#3. “Obama gave [Iran] $1.7 billion in cash…. in an attempt to buy their respect and loyalty.”

The $1.7 billion figure was not an attempt to buy respect from Iran. At the time of the Barack Obama administration’s negotiations with Iran, the U.S. and Iran were in an arbitration case over the amount of interest owed on money Iran had placed in a U.S. trust fund. The $1.7 billion comprised the original amount and the interest owed.

Other money that Iran received was simply Iranian assets frozen by sanctions that were released when the sanctions were lifted after Iran’s compliance with its obligations was verified.

#4. Iran “continued their relentless quest for nuclear weapons.”

Iran was not pursuing a nuclear bomb prior to the U.S. bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities last June in Operation Midnight Hammer. The 2022 U.S. Department of Defense Nuclear Posture Review concluded that “Iran does not today possess a nuclear weapon and we currently believe it is not pursuing one.” That assessment was repeated in the 2025 Annual Threat Assessment, which “reflects the collective insights of the Intelligence Community.” That document clearly states that U.S. intelligence “continue[s] to assess Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and that [Ayatollah] Khamenei has not reauthorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003.”

And Iran wasn’t pursuing a nuclear bomb even after Midnight Hammer and prior to the U.S. bombing Iran in Operation Epic Fury. On March 18, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told a Senate Intelligence Committee that since the June bombings, “there has been no efforts [sic]… to try to rebuild their enrichment capability.” Two weeks earlier, on March 3, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi verified that the IAEA has found “no evidence that Iran is building a nuclear bomb.”

Trump’s additional comment that Iran was “rac[ing] for a nuclear bomb, a nuclear weapon—a nuclear weapon like nobody’s ever seen before” is laughable coming from the president of the only country to have dropped a nuclear bomb. And the world has seen nine countries race for a nuclear bomb.

#5. Iran “would soon have had missiles that could reach the American homeland.”

Iran does not possess intercontinental ballistic missiles that have a range capable of reaching the United States, nor does U.S. intelligence assess that they have made the decision to pursue development of them.

A May 2025 report by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency stated that “Iran has space launch vehicles it could use to develop a militarily-viable ICBM [intercontinental ballistic missile] by 2035 should Tehran decide to pursue the capability.” That’s nine years away, and that’s if they decide to pursue the required technology.

In her March 18 testimony, Gabbard said only that Iran “could… begin to develop a militarily viable ICBM [intercontinental ballistic missile] before 2035, should Tehran attempt to pursue the capability.”

#6. Iran’s “missiles are just about used up or beaten.”

It is impossible to know how many missiles Iran had in its arsenal when the current war began or how many are left. U.S. intelligence estimates that only “about a third of Iran’s vast missile arsenal” has been destroyed. Iran says the U.S. “know[s] nothing about our vast and strategic capabilities.” What is known is that Iran maintains the capacity to fire missiles and drones and to hit their targets.

#7. The U.S. has “crush[ed] their ability to support terrorist proxies.”

Iran’s forward deterrent network of proxies and partners has not been crushed. It has proven far more resilient than the U.S. believed. Hezbollah has launched sophisticated missiles that the U.S. believed they no longer possessed at a rate that may be greater than they have ever launched before. Iraqi militias are launching drone strikes on U.S. bases in the region. The Yemeni Houthis have entered the war, launching several barrages of missiles. As Trump was addressing the nation, the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Iran carried out coordinated missile strikes. Far from “crushed,” these strikes may represent an unexpected resilience and a deepening of military cooperation.

#8. “Regime change has occurred.”

Trump claimed that “regime change was not our goal. We never said regime change.” That’s not true. Trump told Iranians to “TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!” He also said it was “time to look for new leadership in Iran.” On Truth Social he’s used the phrase in reference to Iran.

In any case, regime change hasn’t occurred in Iran. The people of Iran have not taken to the streets, and the government has not come close to falling. Following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the regime underwent a seamless transition to his son, Mojtaba Khamenei. Mojtaba Khamenei is a hardliner who was a close advisor to his father. He has been a core part of the regime, and his selection represents a preservation of, and not a change from, the regime.

Other new leaders, including Ali Larijani’s replacement as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, a former commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps who has served in government since the days of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, also represent regime continuity and survival.

Despite Trump’s insistence that the new leaders are “less radical and much more reasonable,” they seem instead to be more hardline than the figures they replaced.

Is America a Republic? Or an Empire?

Is America a Republic? Or an Empire?

Ron DeSantis leads a tutorial on liberty—and tyranny.

The_Last_Senate_of_Julius_Caesar_by_Raffaele_Giannetti

Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis has taken time away from running the country’s third-largest state to talk ancient history—literally. Those seeking perspective on troubling current events are better off for this trip down memory lane.

The colloquy started on March 30, when DeSantis X-ed (tweeted) out praise for The Golden Thread: A History of the Western Tradition. “Looks like a volume worth having, especially as we approach America 250,” DeSantis X-ed, adding, “The Founders were products of the Western tradition and they looked to its entire history—from the ancients to the Enlightenment and everything in between—for inspiration and guidance in justifying the revolution and, later, when creating the Constitution.”

An Xer asked DeSantis, “What do you think they took away from the ancients?” The governor answered, “Standard for civic virtue. Refusal of power (Washington/Cincinnatus). Statesmanship (Cicero). Opposition to tyranny (Brutus).” To which an X-er snapped, “Yep no tyranny happened in Rome after they executed Ceasar [sic].” It’s in the nature of X-course that hot takes—along with spelling errors—come tumbling forth.

Yet DeSantis was rolling with it: “Uh, yeah, which is why the Founders detested Caesar. They viewed the fall of the Roman republic as a civilizational tragedy.”

Those words exercised some X-ers; they were soon reaching for their rhetorical weapons. One post unsheathed the gladius: “Sad to see RDS go down this unsound path – better the Caesar who did so much for #SPQR than the multitude of popinjay Ciceros and Catos whose Lilliputian conniving did so much damage to Rome & made Caesar indispensable.”

Another post hurled the pilum: “In the story of the fall of the Roman Republic it was Julius Caesar who was the good guy. The aristocratic and corrupt senators like Cato, who refused to address the issues facing the common people and republic were the bad guys.”

Still another sought to put in the pugio: “Julius Caesar did nothing wrong. The Optimates had spent the last 100 years kicking Roman citizens off their land so the rich could replace them with foreign slave labor. They killed every reformer who tried to stop them. Caesar was the moderate option. They killed him too.” Threads included visual hymns to a Caesar-ized Donald Trump.

As his duties in the Sunshine State were no doubt pressing against him, DeSantis closed down the colloquy: “It’s not a question of what I think. It is simply a fact that American political culture at the time of the founding was pro-republic and anti-Caesar. That worldview informed the Founders’ political judgments and influenced the formation of American political institutions.” Yet the Floridian couldn’t resist a post-script: “Rome was a cautionary tale about the fragility of republics, the need for civic virtue, and the susceptibility of republics to degenerate into tyranny.”

This historical debate, engaging politics and culture, too, has ebbed and flowed for more than 2,000 years, and will flow on. Caesar has many American fans—in Las Vegas they named a casino after him—and yet fans of American liberty know that autocratic Germans and Russians came up with “Kaiser” and “Czar,” respectively, to communicate their affection for the ancient Roman. To borrow the gambling phrase, that’s a tell.

Yet beyond the person of Julius Caesar, there’s the broader question of the law-bound Roman Republic as it transitioned—violently—into the more lawless Roman Empire.

In recent times, two very different figures, Gore Vidal and Pat Buchanan, made similar points: That the American Republic was yielding to something new and unwanted: an American Empire.

“We have embarked upon empire (Rome born again our heavy fate),” Vidal wrote in 1956. Having repeated the point for decades, in 1997 Vidal added, “July 26 was the 50th anniversary of the National Security Act that, without national debate but very quiet bipartisan congressional support, replaced the old American Republic with a National Security State very much in the global-empire business.”

Buchanan, a cofounder of this magazine, was not normally in accord with Vidal, and yet he shared this foreboding. In 1999, he published A Republic, Not an Empire: Reclaiming America’s Destiny. The book was was a dire minority report, challenging the foreign policy consensus. “We Americans have been behaving like the Roman Empire,” Buchanan declared, citing evidence of imperial overreach, just in the preceding decade: Military interventions in Panama, Kuwait, Somalia, Haiti, and Bosnia; bombings IN Sudan, Iraq, and Libya. In the quarter-century since, we’ve seen many more actions, including full-blown wars of choice. (Buchanan’s one reference to Vidal was to note that back in 1940, he had joined the anti-interventionist America First Committee.)

We must hasten to say that the Roman Republic was not Switzerland. In fact, both the Roman Republic and Roman Empire fought wars all the time. The key distinction between Republic and Empire was not pacifism, but process. The “SPQR” mentioned earlier meant something in the Republic. They were the Latin initials for “The Senate and People of Rome,” inscribed on coins, flags, and public buildings. Which is to say, “SPQR” appeared on the things Romans made, thought were important, and wanted everyone to see. It was the vocabulary of legitimacy, the permanent pledge that the system was guided by law and lawful rulers.

In 49 BC, fresh from a foreign war, Julius Caesar upset this order. Defying the Senate, he and his army crossed the Rubicon; their aim was to overthrow the Republic. After years of fighting, that’s what they did. In 44 BC, Caesar was declared dictator perpetuo. (Just few weeks later, that perpetuity came to a sudden end; Caesar was assassinated on the floor of the very Senate that he had trounced.)

DeSantis is right that most of the Founders detested Caesar. Yet of course, when active minds are gathered, there’s never unanimity: Alexander Hamilton admired Caesar, and another Founder, Caesar Rodney, who actually signed the Declaration of Independence, had that first name—he couldn’t have hated Caesar too much.

Yet John Adams spoke for most Founders when he put Caesar in a pot with other tyrants, all guilty of “enslaving their country, and building their own greatness on its ruins.” Adams listed a few more of these rogues, adding bleakly, “and ten thousand others.”

To be sure, while they were not nearly as warlike as the Roman Republicans, the American Republicans were not peaceniks. They were willing to fight the British, of course, and also, if the need arose, the French, the Spanish, and “the merciless Indian Savages.”

Yet still, the Founders were too genteel to overtly admire the actual murder of Caesar. Instead, they emphasized the old republic’s rule of law—the very thing, of course, that Caesar had trampled.

So the Founders identified their hero, a contemporary of Caesar, whom DeSantis also hailed: Cicero. Even before this most famous of Roman lawyers, the state had asserted, Bellum nullum nisi justum (No war except a just one). That stipulation didn’t stop many wars, but at least it put war-making power in the hands of duly commissioned guardians: the Senate, of course, but also priests, soothsayers, and other keepers of mos maiorum—the thick web of Roman custom that guided public, as well as private, behavior. Distributed power maintained the rule of law in the Roman Republic; exactly what the Founders hoped to see in their own new republic.

Cicero laid out all these legalities in his magisterial work, De Officiis (On Duties), completed in 44 BC: “In the case of a state in its external relations, the rights of war must be strictly observed.” In that same juridical manner—anticipating international law—he continued, “The only excuse, therefore, for going to war is that we may live in peace unharmed.”

Knowing that Caesar had by then extinguished the republic, Cicero added, forlornly, “We should still have at least some sort of constitutional government.” The following year, 43, the great jurist was killed by political enemies.

Yet Cicero’s principles—“What people have always sought is equality of rights before the law”—survived him; indeed, they have proven immortal.

No wonder Adams—surely the most legally erudite of the Founders—heaped so much praise upon Cicero. Adams saw in the Roman’s writings “the principles of nature and eternal reason . . . that all men by nature are equal; that kings are but the ministers of the people; that their authority is delegated to them by the people, for their good, and they have a right to resume it, and place it in other hands, or keep it themselves, whenever it is made use of to oppress them.” These eternal principles, Adams concluded, inspired righteous opposition to tyrants across the ages, against Caesar in the 1st century BC, and against George III in the 18th century AD.

Indeed, since the American Revolution, “caesarism” has been mostly an epithet, applied, for instance, to Alexander Hamilton and to his great rival, the man who killed him, Aaron Burr. In 1838, young Abraham Lincoln warned against Caesarism, and yet in 1865, the 16th president’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth, leveled the same charge. In the 20th century, Franklin D. Roosevelt was routinely jibed as a Caesarist; always in on the joke, the 32nd president celebrated his birthday by dressing up in a toga.

In 1959, the great right-winger James Burnham published Congress and the American Tradition, an ode to Article One of the Constitution, the section designating the powers—in Burnham’s view, the superior powers—of the legislature. And yet Burnham warned of then-regnant liberalism: “In our own day we are able to see its final goal and resting place, the end-term of the process which it sets into motion. This end is: Caesar.”

Some might wonder, of course, if all these Caesar-sightings constitute “crying wolf.” Perhaps. Or perhaps they might be the cumulative vindication of what we might dub the Vidal-Buchanan Thesis.

So now to the 45th and 47th president. Back in 2018, he was painted with the Caesar brush—by no less than Mary Beard, author of a best-selling history of Rome. And now, with the Iran War, the “c-word”—caesarism—accusation is coming faster and more furious.

One wonders if any of this bothers Trump. As a natural high-stakes player, he might be flattered by the comparison; after all, as a subset of the endless fascination with the Romans, many today think Caesar is cool, including prominent Trump fans.

Caesar’s eternal appeal is that he cuts through the crap to get (bleep) done. He is a strong man of bold action. Which, of course, is what Adams warned most against. As he wrote in 1798, “human Passions unbridled by morality and Religion. Avarice, Ambition, Revenge or Galantry, would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net.” And that’s how Caesarism breaks liberty and breeds tyranny.

In that same spirit, small “r” republicans—many of them clustered around this magazine—who oppose the Iran war are left to wonder: How many capital “R” Republicans will join them? Ron DeSantis, so loquacious on historical Caesarism, has supported the fighting, albeit, as a governor, he’s not front and center. Among elected officials in Congress, beyond those stubborn Ciceronians, Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Tom Massie, the ranks of Republican opponents are indeed thin.

Of course, the Constitution is neither antiwar nor pro-war. It simply insists that process be given its due—in this case, most likely, the War Powers Resolution, the 1973 law in which Congress sought to clarify the powers that it should have had all along.

In the meantime, we are in a moment of constitutional hinge. Those cheering for a commander-in-chief acting beyond the writ of Congress should ask themselves: How will they feel if some future Democratic president acts as a blue dictator perpetuo, launching a sudden and unilateral war against, say, climate change or transphobia?

As Adams also wrote to his wife Abigail, cities can be rebuilt, and impoverishment recovered from. “But,” he warned, “a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it.” Hmm. Lose liberty, lose the legislature, lose limitations on government.

So if we can’t keep our Republic, we lose a lot.

We Are the Barbarians

We Are the Barbarians

The president’s threat to annihilate Iranian civilization took America to a dark place.

U.S. And Israel Wage War Against Iran

On Tuesday morning, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to declare that “a civilization will die tonight.” By 8 p.m., the U.S. announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran had begun. Whether the ceasefire holds (or even takes hold) is already in question—Iran and the U.S. appear to be offering contradictory accounts of what the 10-point plan they allegedly agreed to actually says. The best hope that it might stick comes from Israel, where TV presenters who spent Monday salivating over a clock counting down the minutes and hours until Trump’s planned genocide of Iranians were left confused and outraged when the president backed down shortly before the deadline.

But whether or not Trump ultimately goes as far as the Israelis would like him to, Americans must now reckon with the destruction already carried out in our name, the civilization-destroying actions Trump has threatened, and the barbarians we have become in the process.

As Tucker Carlson, the most prominent critic of the war with Iran, pointed out in his viral monologue Monday, there was very little that was American or Western about Trump’s threat to destroy an entire civilization. That is not to say the U.S. government hasn’t committed serious crimes before, including wars of aggression. As a study published in The Lancet, a scientific journal, found, U.S. and European sanctions have killed 38 million people since 1971. But those shameful actions were at least concealed behind a pretext, not declared outright as the objective itself. Though it may seem like a distinction without a difference, Carlson convincingly argues it matters significantly. By abandoning even the aspiration of higher laws, we have embraced the “law of the jungle,” which is “a brutal and unforgiving law” that will not stop at Iran’s borders. “We know from history that the things you do will be done unto you,” Carlson said. “Once you set a standard, you will have to live by that standard.”

Indeed, Trump’s threat to destroy Iranian civilization was not an expression of American values but the purest expression, and logical endpoint, of an ideology the United States has attached itself to under both Joe Biden and now Trump: Zionism and the Greater Israel project, first through U.S. support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing of the West Bank, and most recently through the joint war of aggression against Iran.

And while the American taxpayers forced to fund those wars are told they are fought on our behalf to save “civilization,” it is now impossible to think of any force in recent history more destructive and threatening to civilization than the Greater Israel project—which wages an ISIS-style campaign to destroy every artifact, center of knowledge, and source of beauty in the region, and does so with American weapons, American servicemembers, and American money.

The record of what has already been destroyed provides evidence that the U.S. and Israel wish to do exactly to Iran what ISIS and its various backers did to Syria. According to Iran’s minister of cultural heritage, U.S. and Israeli strikes have damaged more than 131 historical sites across the country including museums, palaces, and UNESCO-listed landmarks, with the heaviest losses in Tehran. Among the centuries-old structures destroyed by U.S.–Israeli bombs is Iran’s Golestan Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site; the Chehel Sotoun pavilion in Isfahan, a 17th-century monument from the Safavid period; the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, one of the architectural jewels of the Islamic world; and the Fin Garden in Kashan, one of Iran’s oldest surviving gardens which dates to the late 16th century. Dozens of universities and research centers have been struck, including the Iran University of Science and Technology, Isfahan University of Technology, and Sharif University of Technology, “Iran’s MIT,” whose computer science center was reduced to rubble. A Tehran synagogue was also struck on Passover.

Our descent into barbarism has long been in the making, and the fingerprints all over that transformation are recognizably Israeli. One of the earliest signs of our transition came when the “War Department” began posting drone strike footage, often as memes, on social media. Where the government once prosecuted WikiLeaks and scrambled to conceal its war footage out of embarrassment, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon now shamelessly publishes such imagery on its own initiative, a direct import from Israel, which pioneered the model of broadcasting its own war crimes during the assault on Gaza. More recently, Israel-firsters like Laura Loomer and Mark Levin were the loudest voices pushing Trump toward escalation and cheering him on as he threatened civilizational annihilation. Loomer, whom Trump reportedly solicits for advice, called on him to channel Curtis LeMay, the general whose fanatical bloodlust inspired Dr. Strangelove and who came within a hair of igniting nuclear war. Levin, for his part, arguably insinuated on his Fox News television show that dropping a nuclear bomb on Iran would be justified.

Whether or not the ceasefire holds, Americans will have to reckon with what has already been done in our name, and with the fact that the Israel-firsters who cheered every escalation have not been removed from their positions of influence. They remain right in the president’s ear, defining not just his second term but the international symbol of destruction and barbarism we are in the process of becoming.

SELF-AWARENESS FAIL: Rich Man Bruce Springsteen Blasts Rich Men for Abandoning the World (VIDEO)

Bruce Springsteen in concert at Manchester, England, screen image via Instagram, May 14, 2025.

Bruce Springsteen, who is rumored to be worth a billion dollars or more, blasted rich American men for abandoning the world during his resist, hate-Trump tour recently.

This is what the American left is now. They are possessed by a political philosophy based entirely on greed and envy where anyone with wealth is automatically evil – except them, of course.

It’s like they all drank the Bernie Sanders Kool-Aid.

FOX News reports:

Bruce Springsteen blasts rich men in America as critics call out his billions

Bruce Springsteen is turning up the volume — not with music, but with a fiery political speech that’s putting him back at the center of controversy.

The billionaire rocker is facing backlash after recently blasting America’s richest and most powerful in a scathing speech, one that critics say rings differently given his reported $1.2 billion fortune.

According to Forbes’ March 2026 report, “The World’s Celebrity Billionaires,” Springsteen lands at No. 15 with a staggering net worth of $1.2 billion.

Springsteen began to address an audience, saying, “The richest men in America have abandoned the world’s poorest children to death and disease through dismantling of U.S. aid. This is happening now. We’re undermining NATO and the world order that kept us safe and at global peace for 80 years. This is happening now.”

Springsteen widened his attack to U.S. alliances and global standing.

“We threaten our good neighbors and our allies — Canada, the Netherlands whose sons and daughters have fought alongside of us in American wars with predatory annexation of their lands. This is happening now.”

Here’s the video:

Take a look at the ticket prices for Bruce’s shows:

Trump Derangement Syndrome has rotted Bruce’s brain.

Maybe he should just retire and enjoy his money.

Baltimore Creates $35 Million Reparations Fund But None of the Money Has Been Paid Out Because Everyone is Fighting For Control Of It

Credit: Getty Images

When the state of Maryland legalized the sale of marijuana a few years ago, they decided that they would set aside a few dollars from each sale to go into a reparations fund which would pay for all sorts of social programs.

Now the fund has $35 million in it but almost none of the money has been paid out because pretty much everyone involved is fighting for control of the fund. Who could have predicted that such a thing would happen?

It’s probably safe to assume that lots of people are going to be very disappointed when this is all finally sorted out and decided.

The Baltimore Beat reports:

Baltimore has received more than $35 million in cannabis reparations money, but none of it has reached residents

In the three years since Maryland legalized recreational cannabis, Baltimore has received more than $35 million in tax revenue to reinvest in communities devastated by the War on Drugs. To date, not a single dollar has reached the people it was meant to help, and the first round of funding may still be a year away.

At the center of the delay is an escalating dispute over who controls the money: City Hall or the Baltimore Community Reinvestment and Reparations Commission, the 17-member body established in November 2024 to oversee how the funds are distributed. City Hall says the mayor has final say, while commissioners maintain the body was created to independently manage the funds.

That holdup means that while Maryland’s legalization of cannabis in 2023 led to over $1.1 billion in sales over the following year alone, even as Black communities continue to be targeted by the drug war, none of it has helped repair that damage…

State Senator Mary Washington, who sponsored SB0894, told the Beat that the law was not intended to give local elected officials control over how the money is spent, and argued Baltimore City’s interpretation is out of step with how the law has been understood elsewhere in Maryland.

“The money was never intended to be a slush fund for a county executive or mayor,” she said. Instead, she said, it was meant to reinvest in communities impacted by the War on Drugs and mass incarceration, which continue to face disparities in homeownership, wealth-building, and life expectancy.

This has disaster written all over it.

How much of this money do you think will actually go to the people of Baltimore? We’re predicting zero.

56-year-old Hunter Biden challenged Don Jr. and Eric Trump to a cage fight on Thursday.

“Hey guys, Hunter Biden here. I just got a call from Andrew Callaghan. He asked me to come out on the Channel 5 Carnival Tour at the end of the month,” Hunter Biden said.

“I think we start in Phoenix and then we go to San Diego and we end in Albuquerque,” he said.

“And I think he’s trying to organize a cage match, me versus Eric and Don Jr. I told him I’d do it. 100 percent in, if he can pull it off, and if he can’t, I’m still coming, and I think he’s got a lot of surprises up his sleeve,” Hunter said.

I hope I see you guys out there,” he said.

According to The Daily Mail, Hunter Biden is reportedly living abroad, is $17 million in debt and can’t pay his lawyers.

In the meantime, he has been attacking the Trumps and conservative media figures on various podcast appearances.

In November, Hunter Biden lashed out at President Trump, Charlie Kirk and superstar reporter and author Miranda Devine during an interview on the “Wide Awake Podcast.”

Hunter attacked President Trump in a profanity-laced tirade.

“This motherf*cker!” Hunter shouted before claiming Joe Biden kicked Trump’s ass.

“The way that [Trump] talks about my dad. F*ck him! And again, sorry for my language,” Hunter Biden said.

He continued, “He is obsessed! And I tell you the reason why he’s obsessed — because unlike anyone else, my dad kicked his ass like a rented mule and beat him by seven and a half million votes. Got more votes than anyone who has ever run for president of the United States of America at 81 million votes!”

“That’s why he hates my dad, because he beat him. He literally has to change history. Everything with them is projection or confession. ‘Biden Crime family’..what a goddamn joke!” Hunter said.

Hunter also attacked “Laptop From Hell” author Miranda Divine.

The New York Post’s Miranda Devine was one of the leading reporters on Hunter Biden’s laptop from hell.

Twitter censored The New York Post shortly before the 2020 election.

“There’s no ethics in what someone as horrendously ugly as Miranda Devine, physically and in terms of her ethics, does –and that goes for Daily Mail but they’re whores,” Hunter Biden said.

He’s Out! Disgraced Lawyer Michael Avenatti Moves to Hollywood Halfway House to Finish Prison Sentence

Disgraced attorney and former anti-Trump pundit Michael Avenatti has moved to Hollywood, California, to finish out his prison sentence in a halfway house following his conviction for various financial crimes.

Avenatti has been ordered to serve over two years in the halfway house in addition to participating in mental health treatment, and he must also stay away from unlawful controlled substances, TMZ reported.

He is projected to be fully released in September 2028 and must pay restitution of almost $6 million.

Avenatti was a frequent guest on CNN and represented Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Donald Trump.

He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison back in July 2021 for attempting to extort Nike and for defrauding multiple clients, according to the Justice Department.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said at the time that “Michael Avenatti used illegal and extortionate threats and betrayed one of his clients for the purpose of seeking to obtain millions of dollars for himself.”

“Not only did Avenatti attempt to weaponize his law license and celebrity to seek to extort payments for himself, he also defrauded his own client. Avenatti will now serve substantial time in prison for his criminal conduct,” Strauss added.

In June 2022, he was sentenced to 48 months in prison for identity theft and for defrauding Daniels by stealing part of her book advance, as well as spending almost $150,000 on personal and business expenses, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said.

“Lawyers have a duty to be loyal and advocates for their clients,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams remarked. “Far from being a loyal advocate for his client, Michael Avenatti stole his client’s identity and her money in order to line his own pockets. Now, Avenatti will serve a substantial prison sentence for his brazen crimes and betrayal of his client.”

A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Central District of California said that Avenatti was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison back in December 2022 for stealing millions of dollars from clients and for tax fraud.

The sentence came after he defrauded clients, one of whom “was a paraplegic with mental health issues,” and for obstructing IRS efforts to collect a tax debt from a business he owned.

United States District Judge James V. Selna, who sentenced Avenatti, said the disgraced lawyer “has done great evil for which he must answer” and ordered him to pay restitution in the amount of nearly $11 million to four different clients and the IRS.

“Michael Avenatti was a corrupt lawyer who claimed he was fighting for the little guy. In fact, he only cared about his own selfish interests,” United States Attorney Martin Estrada said.

Estrada added, “He stole millions of dollars from his clients — all to finance his extravagant lifestyle that included a private jet and race cars. As a result of his illegal acts, he has lost his right to practice law in California, and now he will serve a richly deserved prison sentence.”

CNN, and other anti-Trump networks, constantly showered praise and adulation on Avenatti and gave him coveted spots of air time.

Back in 2018, former CNN host Brian Stelter even suggested he’d make a strong candidate for president.

“And looking ahead to 2020, one reason I’m taking you seriously as a contender is because of your presence on cable news,” he told Avenatti.

In June 2025, Avenatti managed to get his prison term reduced following a resentencing hearing after the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated his 14-year sentence back in October 2024, Fox News reported. He was disbarred in California in February 2025.

President Trump GOES OFF on Biden and Radical Liberal Judges After Illegal Alien From Haiti Savagely Murders Florida Gas Station Clerk with a Hammer

Haitian illegal alien murders Florida gas station clerk

President Trump went off on Joe Biden and radical liberal judges after a Haitian illegal alien brutally murdered a female gas station clerk in Fort Myers, Florida.

As TGP’s Kristinn Taylor reported, a female gas station clerk in Fort Myers, Florida, was savagely beaten to death with a hammer last week by Rolbert Joachim, an illegal alien from Haiti who illegally entered the US on Joe Biden’s open border invitation in 2022.

The victim, Nilufar Yasmin, was a mother of two from Bangladesh.

Shocking video of the fatal beating was posted to social media by the Department of Homeland Security.

President Trump also posted the video of the brutal murder and went off on Joe Biden and the Democrats.

Full statement from President Trump:

An Illegal Alien Criminal from Haiti, who was released into our Country by the WORST President in History, Crooked Joe Biden, and the Radical Democrats in Congress, just beat an innocent woman to death with a hammer at a gas station in Florida.

The video of her brutal slaying is one of the most vicious things you will ever see. This animal was allowed to stay here because the Biden Administration granted him, and all Haitians, “Temporary Protective Status,” a massively abused and fraudulent program which my Administration is working to terminate, but Deranged Liberal District Court Judges are standing in our way.

This one killing should be enough for these Radical Judges to STOP impeding my Administration’s Immigration Policies, and allow us to END THIS SCAM ONCE AND FOR ALL.

To my fellow Republicans, and frankly all Common Sense Americans, NEVER FORGET that Joe Biden and the Democrat Party turned the United States of America into a dumping ground, allowing Tens of MILLIONS of Criminals, Lunatics, and the Mentally Insane from all over the World to pour into our Country, totally unvetted and unchecked through our wide Open Borders.

As I’ve said all along, if you import the Third World, you become the Third World, and that is what happened over the four years of Democrat Control.

We are rapidly trying to reverse this decline through Deportations, but if the Democrats are ever given another chance at power, they will immediately REOPEN the Border, and allow America to once again be a Safe Haven for Criminals. Please say a prayer for this innocent woman’s family.

We will ensure quick and severe JUSTICE is served in this case! I don’t recommend you watch this tape, because it is so terrible, but felt I had an obligation to put it up so that people can see what Democrats are protecting, and wanting to come into our Country, even now, after all we’ve been through. Again, viewer discretion advised — Not for children!

OF COURSE: New Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger Takes Credit for Investments Secured by Her Republican Predecessor Glenn Youngkin

Screencap of YouTube video.

When Republican Glenn Youngkin was Governor of Virginia, he successfully attracted a handful of huge investments to the state. Big companies decided that they wanted to do business there.

Now, the new Governor Abigail Spanberger is trying to take credit for these investments. Is anyone surprised?

Lots of people in Virginia already have buyers’ remorse over Spanberger, who completely misrepresented herself during the campaign.

This is just another example of dishonesty.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

Abigail Spanberger Takes Credit for $7.1 Billion in Business Investments Secured by GOP Predecessor Glenn Youngkin

Virginia governor Abigail Spanberger (D.) took credit for over $7.1 billion in business investments to the Old Dominion—investments that were actually secured by her Republican predecessor, Glenn Youngkin.

Spanberger’s Monday announcement listed four bipartisan bills she signed that detail the capital investments from Avio USA, Hitachi Energy, Eli Lilly, and AstraZeneca, which involve building new facilities and will bring more than 3,200 jobs building rocket motors, producing critical electrical grid infrastructure, and manufacturing pharmaceuticals. The legislation provides financial incentives for each company.

“From my very first day in office, I have been working to create a stable business environment so companies can hire, expand, and continue to invest in our Commonwealth,” Spanberger said in the announcement. “Attracting new businesses and jobs to Virginia is a core focus of my administration — and I’m proud of the hundreds of millions of dollars in investment we have already announced this year.”

All four companies, however, announced their forthcoming investments last year while Youngkin was governor, as reporter Nick Minock of 7News DC first noted in a Wednesday X post. All four companies also included quotes from Youngkin when announcing the investments in 2025. AstraZeneca’s CEO specifically thanked “Governor Youngkin and his team for their energy and vision,” saying the company “found in Virginia an amazing team that moves at incredible speed to build a better future for this Commonwealth and the American people.” Hitachi said its new Virginia facility came “with the support of Governor Youngkin” as well as “the Trump Administration’s White House AI Action Plan.” Hitachi, Eli Lilly, and AstraZeneca announced their investments before Spanberger won in November.

Spanberger’s approval rating is sinking like a stone.

From The Hill:

Spanberger drop in approval rating ‘stunning’: Sabato

Political scientist Larry Sabato said Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s (D) drop-off in voter approval is “stunning” months into her first term at the helm of the Old Dominion State.

Her approval rating sat at 47 percent, with 46 percent of voters disapproving and 7 percent expressing no opinion, in a poll from The Washington Post and the Schar School of Policy and Government.

The rating is 13 percentage points below the average for Virginia governors analyzed by the Post since the 1990s.

“A drop of that margin is stunning, and it should be greatly disturbing to the governor and the governor’s staff if it’s repeated in other surveys,” Sabato told ABC 7 News.

The people of Virginia were warned. Make better choices next time.
