Chuck Schumer Orders Democrats to Block Bill That Aims to Force Data Centers to Cover Increased Energy Costs

Senate Democrats are working to short-circuit a bill aimed at protecting consumers from the costs of data centers.

The Ratepayer Protection Act passed the House 417-3 in the 435-member House.

However, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer opposes the bill, which he called “a fraud,” according to The Hill.

“Americans are demanding real guardrails on AI and data centers, but all the Republicans offer is a toothless messaging bill,” he said Tuesday.

The bill requires 60 votes to pass a procedural hurdle. Although Republicans have a majority in the Senate, it would take Democratic votes to move the bill forward.

Democratic Sen. Peter Welch of Vermont, who had been the lone Democrat supporting the bill, said he has changed his mind.

“We want to get a real Ratepayer Protection Act,” he said. “I’m for ratepayer protections. This bill doesn’t do anything.”

The bill introduced by Republican Sen. Jon Husted of Ohio requires states to consider imposing a regulatory structure in which data centers pay for energy costs and any power grid updates.

The bill does not require states to impose costs on data centers, leading Democratic Sen. Gary Peters to snark, “I wish it actually had some teeth.”

After House passage of the bill, Republicans noted that it effectively insulated consumers from the costs of data centers.

“When done responsibly, data center development leads to longer term investments and broader infrastructure improvements in the communities where they’re built,” Republican Rep. Brett Guthrie of Kentucky said. “The Ratepayer Protection Act helps to safeguard these benefits by ensuring that the companies who are building data centers — and not American families and small businesses — are paying for the electricity they use.”

“U.S. leadership in the race to AI dominance is critical to our economic prosperity and national security, so we need to keep building the needed infrastructure with appropriate accountability measures,” he added. “I’m grateful to Congressman Evans for his tireless work — on a bipartisan basis — to protect ratepayers while ensuring that America continues to lead the world in innovation,” he said.

Republican Rep. Gabe Evans of Colorado said, “Hardworking families should not have to subsidize the energy demands of data centers. America needs the infrastructure to lead the world in AI and outcompete Communist China, but we cannot have that growth at the expense of hardworking families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses.

“My bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act ensures large data centers pay for the infrastructure they require while giving states the flexibility to determine what works best for their communities. I’m incredibly proud to lead the charge on this pivotal issue, ensure our ratepayers are protected, and keep American innovation moving forward,” he said.

President Trump announces most-favored-nation drug pricing agreement with all 50 states

President Trump is scheduled to announce plans for South Korea to invest over $50 billion in a new liquefied natural gas pipeline in Alaska this afternoon.

The announcement in the Oval Office with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will futher Trump’s American energy agenda and “accelerate America’s nuclear energy renaissance,” according to White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers.

Per NBC:

Trump is expected to announce a plan this afternoon for South Korea to invest $54 billion to build a natural gas pipeline in Alaska, a White House official said.

It is part of a broader South Korean investment of $200 billion as part of the U.S.-Korea trade and investment agreement announced last year. The money will also go toward eight large-scale nuclear plants and a power facility in Texas, the official said. South Korea pledged a total of $350 billion in the trade and investment deal.

The Alaska gas pipeline would stretch more than 800 miles, connecting Alaska’s North Slope to natural gas export terminal in southern Alaska, the official said, adding that it would lower energy prices for Alaskans by providing a reliable supply of natural gas.

In a statement, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said the energy infrastructure investments “deliver on [Trump’s] day one promises to unleash American energy, unlock Alaska’s extraordinary resource potential, and accelerate America’s nuclear energy renaissance.”

This comes after Trump announced on Monday additional plans for  Minnesota-based Mesabi Metallics to build a $15 billion steel plant, the largest in US history, in Iowa.

Internal Watchdog Says Federal Reserve’s Renovation Was Mismanaged But Found No Criminal Wrongdoing in $2.5 Billion Boondoggle – Trump Responds, Targets Jerome Powell

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell delivers a speech, addressing economic policies with an American flag backdrop.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell delivers a speech, addressing economic policies with an American flag backdrop.

Here we go.

The Federal Reserve’s internal watchdog said the central bank mismanaged the renovation but found no criminal wrongdoing in the $2.5 billion boondoggle.

Federal investigators in January opened a criminal investigation into Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.

Powell was under fire for the cost of renovating the Fed’s DC headquarters. The cost ballooned from $1.9 billion to $2.5 billion.

“Powell has asked the central bank’s inspector general to conduct an additional review of the ongoing renovation, CNN previously reported. Last month, some Senate lawmakers grilled Powell over what they depicted as lavish upgrades to its DC headquarters at Powell’s semiannual monetary policy hearing,’ CNN previously reported.

“The Fed’s renovation project was approved by its board in 2017 and originally cost $1.9 billion in 2019. Construction began in 2021, but the cost swelled to $2.5 billion because of “unforeseen conditions” requiring more spending to rectify, such as “more asbestos than anticipated, toxic contamination in soil, and a higher-than-expected water table,” according to the Fed’s website,” CNN reported.

The Fed watchdog determined no criminality in the central bank’s renovation.

NBC News reported:

The Federal Reserve’s independent watchdog said Wednesday it found no reasonable grounds to believe there was a violation of federal law in a multibillion-dollar renovation project that drew criticism from President Donald Trump and short-lived scrutiny from federal prosecutors.

But the central bank’s board “had not effectively executed” a contract and its cost-management provisions, according to a 120-page report from the Office of the Inspector General for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Even after four years of construction and over $2 billion in awarded construction costs, the Fed board had “not established a guaranteed maximum price” for the project, and had set up “insufficient” internal project governance to manage a project of such “magnitude and complexity,” the watchdog said.

Still, the report “did not identify administrative misconduct” nor any “reasonable grounds to believe that a violation of federal criminal law had occurred.”

Last July, Jerome Powell was criminally referred to the Justice Department for prosecution.

Earlier this year, Judge Boasberg, an Obama appointee, quashed the Justice Department’s subpoenas issued to Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.

Boasberg previously blasted Trump and US Attorney Pirro, saying the subpoenas were improperly issued after the president pressured Powell to lower interest rates.

In April, the Justice Department dropped its criminal investigation into Jerome Powell.

President Trump called for Jerome Powell to resign from the Board of Governors.

Trump also said he has asked Todd Blanche to study the Inspector General’s report:

The Inspector General’s Report just came out on Jerome “Too Late” Powell’s “renovation” of the Federal Reserve Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The IG’s Report states that there were “deficiencies in the management of the renovation project.” The Building is over budget, at a Record Setting rate and, at a minimum, “Too Late” Powell should be forced to resign from the Board. He can’t manage a Building, and he certainly shouldn’t be allowed to manage his High Interest Rate Policy (only on “TRUMP!”). I have asked Attorney General Todd Blanche to study the report, and make a determination as to what to do about a relatively small Building Complex that is Hundreds of Millions of Dollars over budget, and is now going to cost, according to the Report, at least 2.5 Billion Dollars, with no end in sight.

The Report states, “We were concerned to find that the Board did not obtain a project cost estimate from the [construction manager] until January 2026, which was 3.5 years after construction began and after the Board had awarded more than $2 billion in construction costs. As of July 2026, more than 4 years after construction began and $2 billion has been awarded for construction, the Board had yet to set a [guaranteed maximum price]” — An absolutely unheard of situation! — “The Board therefore still does not have cost certainty and has not transferred material risk to the [construction manager].” In actuality, I think that the 2.5 Billion Dollars will be 3.5 Billion Dollars, and maybe 4 Billion Dollars by the time they’re finished, and may never get properly built. Soundproofing, and all other elements of the Building, will be inferior to what was previously there.

In particular, the magnificent beauty, sculptured ceilings and walls, and so many other things which made the Federal Reserve Building stand apart, will never be captured again, and are only being replaced by flat, boring, less than midlevel finishes. I could have done a far better Renovation for 25 Million Dollars, completely maintaining the MAGNIFICENCE of the structure, and had money left over. They completely destroyed the Beauty and Glorious History of the Building. This is Jerome Powell’s fault, and he should be forced to resign, IMMEDIATELY! If he doesn’t resign, he should be sued, at the highest level, by the United States Government, for either corruption or incompetence, both of which are completely unacceptable…And no, I do not want this Building named after President Donald J. Trump, ME! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

Hero Passenger Who Broke Into Cockpit to Subdue Hijacker Receives Hero’s Welcome from Netanyahu (Video)

The Gateway Pundit reported that on Wednesday, an Israel-bound Flydubai flight made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after plunging thousands of feet following an attack in the cockpit.

Flight FZ1073 took off from Dubai for Tel Aviv with more than 170 people on board, almost all of them Israeli.

Less than an hour from entering Israeli airspace, Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian pilot, was stabbed by his co-pilot, an Omani national.

After hearing screams from the cockpit, a group of passengers ran toward it, and one of the passengers, being referred to as Yaniv, broke down the door and subdued the co-pilot, who appeared to be attempting to damage the plane’s controls and crash the plane in Israel in a 9/11-style attack.

Israel Nation News shared footage of the moment passengers stormed the cockpit.

Netanyahu shared details of the incident and then gave a hero’s welcome to Yaniv when the plane returned safely to Israel.

The Prime Minister shared, “This morning, there was a serious security incident on a flight from Dubai to Israel. Almost all the passengers on the flight were Israelis. During the flight, as they approached the country, one of the pilots stabbed the second pilot, and apparently tried to crash the plane with everyone on board.”

“I spoke with one of the Israeli passengers. He told me that the plane went into a spin and began to dive. He told me that, somehow or other, he managed to break into the cockpit with one of the crew members, and that together they neutralized the stabbing pilot while he was trying to sabotage the plane’s systems.”

“Another flight crew on board entered the cockpit and managed to stabilize the plane. I salute these heroes, who displayed exceptional resourcefulness and courage. They saved many lives. They prevented a huge disaster. The plane landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. All passengers are out of danger.”

“The stabbing pilot was arrested and is currently being interrogated by the Saudi authorities. We are maintaining constant communication with the relevant authorities to ensure the ongoing well-being of the passengers and their safe return home. I have instructed the security services to prepare for additional potential threats. We are holding ongoing situation assessments, and we will update you as the situation develops…”

Watch:

Netanyahu called Yaniv a hero.

The Prime Minister also saluted Captain Machchhar for his “extraordinary bravery” that, despite being gravely injured, he unlatched the cockpit door, allowing passengers to break in and subdue the attacker.

Police: Man ‘Intentionally’ Drove Into Closed Texas Grocery Store to Use the Restroom

A Mississippi man who was a long way from home while experiencing a bathroom emergency took a unique approach to the problem.

It got him arrested.

All was normal at the Kroger in Rosenberg, Texas, around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Employees were stocking shelves in the quiet time before the store opened, according to KLAW-FM.

Then came smashing and crashing as an SUV drove into the store.

“On Sunday, September 27th, at approximately 0428, a known male individual intentionally accelerated into Kroger, causing extensive damage to the pharmacy entrance,” Rosenberg police posted on Facebook.

“Further investigation revealed the driver needed to use the restroom and was upset the doors were locked,” the post said.

“I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go but we strongly advise finding a store open for business… to do your business,” the post said.

No injuries were reported, according to KHOU-TV.

Police identified the driver as James Mansell Lancaster Jr., 60, of Natchez, Mississippi, according to The New York Times.

By the time his SUV was done crashing through glass and whatever else was in his way, he had created about $50,000 worth of damage to the store, police said.

Lt. Sebastian Muñoz, a representative of the Rosenberg Police Department, said the employees who were working at the time were in another section of the store.

“All he said was the doors were locked and he had to use the restroom,” Muñoz said.

Lancaster did not flee, police said, although it was not revealed whether he made it to the restroom he sought.

Lancaster was charged with criminal mischief causing greater than $30,000 in property damage and less than $150,000, which is a third-degree felony.

As of Monday, Lancaster remained in the Fort Bend County Jail.

Kroger officials said they would not release security camera footage of the incident.

“The safety of our associates and customers is one of our core values,” a Kroger representative said.

Charlie Kirk’s Mother Kathryn Kirk Addresses Conspiracy Theories Regarding Her Son’s Assassination for the First Time

Kathryn Kirk, the mother of the late TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, has broken her silence regarding conspiracy theories surrounding her son’s tragic assassination.

Kathryn Kirk recently spoke to Vanity Fair for the first interview she has done since her son was assassinated on September 10, 2025.

In the interview, Kathryn shared that her silence about the tragedy was used by conspiracy theorists to claim there is animosity between her and Erika Kirk.

Kathryn shared, “We were 100 percent behind Erika, and through the tragedy, the two of them have grown closer together.

Per Vanity Fair:

The only time Kathryn Kirk, Charlie’s mother, cries is when she starts talking about how upset her son would be over the way his wife has been treated on social media. Kathryn, who has avoided speaking to journalists until now, says that she’s been fielding calls since minutes after Charlie was shot. A TMZ reporter “called me even before I talked to my daughter. Before I was running the car,” she says.

Though she says she’s desperate to remain a private citizen, Kathryn is also coming to terms with the fact that even her silence has been co-opted by conspiracy theorists who claim there is a rift between Charlie’s parents and Erika; that they blame her for their son’s death; that they’re fighting over Charlie’s will—and the legacy of Turning Point.

Kathryn insists that none of this is true. “We were 100 percent behind her,” Kathryn tells me, adding that “Erika and I have, through the trauma, grown closer.

“We knew Charlie in a way that no one else did. We can look at each other’s eyes and we know the depth of our despair.”

Later in the interview, Kathryn shared that, regarding a succession plan for TPUSA if anything were to happen to Charlie, he purposely spared both her and Charlie’s father from those talks “because it would just go right into our fears.”

Members of the TPUSA board told Vanity Fair that Charlie made it very clear that if anything was to happen to him, he wanted Erika to lead the organization he co-founded in 2012.

Kathryn has largely stayed out of the public eye following the assassination of her son.

However, she has sat alongside Erika in the courtroom during preliminary hearings for Tyler Robinson, the man charged with killing Charlie.

JUST IN: Senate Democrats Block Congressional Stock Trading Ban

Every single Democrats voted to block the bill.

The bill would block members of Congress, their spouses and children from purchasing new stocks.

The Hill reported:

Senate Democrats on Wednesday blocked a bill sponsored by vulnerable GOP incumbent Pete Ricketts (Neb.) to restrict members of Congress from buying new stocks of publicly traded companies, arguing the legislation didn’t go far enough to crack down on possible corruption.

The Stop Insider Trading Act failed by a vote of 53-47. No Democrat voted in support of the measure.

It needed 60 votes to advance on the Senate floor.

Schumer called the voter ID bill a “poison pill” on Tuesday after Senate Majority Leader Thune announced the vote.

President Trump Takes a Shot at Bush, Obama and Biden as He Announces Last American Forces Are Leaving Iraq

Serious expression of a man in a suit during a formal event, highlighting intense focus and engagement.

President Trump on Wednesday announced the last American forces are leaving Iraq.

The President took a shot at George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden as he labeled the operation a “quagmire.”

Trump said that unlike Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal, there will be an orderly departure.

Trump’s full statement:

Today, I am pleased to announce, that the last American Forces are leaving Iraq!

It has been a long time, with very bad decision-making that got us involved in this quagmire in the first place, but soon, that will be part of History. This is a Great Day for America and, importantly, we leave with Iraq having a wonderful new Prime Minister, Ali al-Zaidi, somebody I supported from the beginning and fully endorsed.

He won an Election that he was not expected to win, and did so, in a landslide!

Launched in 2003 under the presidency of George W. Bush, and continued under the Administration of Barack Hussein Obama in 2014, and Sleepy Joe Biden, Operation Inherent Resolve ends in 2026 under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump. This Day is a victory for the United States, a victory for Iraq, and a decisive victory over ISIS, which has been completely decimated by the Trump Administration, First Term, along with other very bad and dangerous players.

Unlike Afghanistan, where much Military Equipment and everything else was left behind, and 13 Warriors lie dead, with many badly wounded, this orderly departure of Coalition forces and equipment from Erbil Air Base marks the end of a very expensive excursion into Hell. I set a clear mission, gave our Commanders the tools to finish it, and refused to let a temporary presence become a permanent one.

I had a choice to stay or to leave, and felt, without question, that it was time for America to go home! Prime Minister al-Zaidi, is outstanding, and he will hopefully be able to handle things very well. We came to fight a caliphate. There is no longer a caliphate. We are going home! President DONALD J. TRUMP
