Ex-NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom was blocked from entering a WNBA playoff match between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Fever on Wednesday after he showed up to the stadium wearing a T-shirt that read, “What is a Woman?”
A stadium administrator cited his “conduct in a previous game” and accused him of “targeting players” on social media. Freedom fired back, “That’s called freedom of speech!” The man then said, while refusing to name who he’s targeted, “It’s called freedom of speech. It is. But you’re targeting people.”
Back in August, Freedom was ejected from a Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever game at Wintrust Arena in Chicago after exchanging words courtside with Sky guard Natasha Cloud. Video from the scene shows Cloud running at him as teammates and referees restrain her, and Freedom is suing the Chicago Sky to overturn his ban from the stadium. He now says he’s in touch with the FBI after receiving death threats over the incident.
The State Farm Arena went on to have Freedom removed from the stadium in Atlanta by police.
Enes Freedom has been a vocal critic of the WNBA’s refusal to condemn men in women’s sports.
He previously announced that he was declaring himself a WNBA prospect after reviewing what he described as the league’s eligibility framework, saying he meets “every single requirement necessary to compete in the WNBA.”
Outkick Sports Founder Clay Travis has said that he would be the number 1 pick of his proposed transgender WNBA team, the Nashville Balls, saying he’s “going to be the baddest b*tch in the league.”
The No. 1 draft pick of my WNBA team, the Nashville Balls, Enes Kanter Freedom, is going to be the baddest bitch in the league. 100 points per game. @SportNState interview on YouTube later tonight. https://t.co/mFvp83eJqb

And on Wednesday night, he was barred from entering the stadium by seven Atlanta police officers due to so-called security concerns. He had purchased courtside seats, but the WNBA wanted to put him in a suite, as far away as possible, where the cameras couldn’t see him.
When he requested the seat that he had purchased tickets for, they refused and kicked him out. “I do not want your money, okay? I purchased tickets, and I would like to sit in my seat, and that’s all I want,” he told stadium administrators, who declined. “And why is that? Because I’m wearing this T-shirt? Because you guys cannot identify what a woman is?”
“They kicked me out of the game for supporting women. They kicked me out of the game. They’re not letting me in the arena by protecting women and supporting women. Shame on the NBA and shame on the WNBA,” Freedom later said after being escorted out by police.
“They just said because of your — first of all, because of your security concerns, which I was like, ‘I don’t have any security concerns. I’m here to watch the game and enjoy the game,’ right? And for that reason, unfortunately, they did not let me in.”
He continued, “And second, they said, well, you are a threat to our players. I’m like, I’m here to watch the game. I know the rules; I played 11 years in the NBA, so for that reason, they’re not gonna let us in.”
“We have seven police officers just surrounding us like I’m a terrorist. All I done is protect women and support women, and this is what I get, America. Don’t forget that. Let that sink in,” he said, describing it as discrimination against his views.
