Dr. Ron Elfenbein, an emergency physician in Maryland, found himself at the forefront of the COVID-19 response, providing life-saving monoclonal antibody treatments to patients in 2021 and calling out the Biden Regime for killing people when they scrapped the treatment’s authorization.
He was persecuted by the Biden administration’s Department of Justice on junk charges after criticizing the Biden Administration’s decision, saying, “People are definitely going to die” after the government ended distribution of the antibodies.
Elfenbein was later charged by the Biden DOJ in a five-count $15 million health care fraud case back in 2022, then convicted by a jury, but later acquitted by District Judge James K. Bredar, an Obama appointee, who wrote: “the evidence weighs so heavily against the verdict.” His acquittal was later overturned in a federal appeals court earlier this year, with the case being sent back to the District Court for a new trial.
A source in the Trump Administration told us that Elfenbein has been “subject to a tremendous injustice,” while expressing hope that “things can be made right” under the Trump Administration.
The doctor spoke to The Gateway Pundit over the weekend to tell his story and reveal the true motives behind his indictment and how the Biden Administration essentially banned a life-saving treatment option and enriched themselves and big pharma at the expense of Americans.
The treatment, which had been described as a “cure” and was promised to all Americans for free during President Trump’s first term, was used temporarily during the Biden Administration, with ambitious plans to make it a widespread treatment option. President Trump took the REGN-COV2 monoclonal antibody treatment after he was diagnosed with COVID-19 in October 2020.
“October of 2020, President Trump comes down with COVID, and I’m watching television with my wife, who’s also a physician; she’s a pediatric oncologist, so she takes care of children with cancer. And we’re watching television, and we see President Trump being airlifted off the South Lawn of the White House to Walter Reed Hospital, and he looks awful. And you know, everyone, the whole country is worried: is President Trump going to die? And he gets admitted to the hospital, and a few hours later, or maybe it was the next day. I can’t remember, but he comes out and hosts a press conference! And he’s giving a press conference, and he says, ‘Man, I feel like a new person.’ They gave me monoclonal antibodies,” Elfenbein told us.
“I said, ‘This is what we should be talking about. Right there is the cure for COVID. We have it in our hands. We got to be embracing this.’ So, I petitioned the state of Maryland, where I live, to become a monoclonal antibody infusion center, and they gave me permission. And we very quickly became the largest supplier of this life-saving drug in the state of Maryland, and to my knowledge, the entire eastern seaboard of the United States, excluding Florida.”
Elfenbein described the technology, which has been studied since the 1970s, as a “tried and true method of getting people better.” Despite being authorized for emergency use, it was never approved for hospital use in the United States.
Even Anthony Fauci called monoclonal antibodies “a much-underutilized intervention” and said they could “reduce the risk of COVID-19 hospitalization or death by 70 to 85 percent,” during a August 2021 White House Press Briefing.
“It’s like a supercharged immune system. So, if I infected you with COVID-19, if I gave it to you right now, in, say, a month, you would produce the same amount of antibodies we’re giving to you in 30 minutes,” Elfenbein said.
“it’s miraculous. So, it’s like a supercharged immune system, versus a vaccine, which is getting your body to produce those antibodies. We’re giving you those antibodies. It has a lot of benefits. Number one, you’re cured of your disease right then and there. Okay, so you may not feel it, but you’re basically cured… Number two, those antibodies will float around in your system for three or four months, so you’re immune from catching it again for three or four months. So basically, it is the cure for COVID. And for people who had vaccine hesitancy or whatever, we didn’t need to get vaccinated because we had a cure.”
But contrary to the evidence of life-saving results and other nations expanding their use of the miracle treatment, the Biden Administration pulled the plug, ending the authorization of monoclonal antibodies for COVID-19 patients, while simultaneously approving Pfizer’s oral antiviral medication for COVID-19, Paxlovid. This was roughly eleven weeks after Fauci revealed the potential 85% reduction in hospitalization or death with monoclonal antibodies from the White House.
The very day that Paxlovid was granted its emergency use authorization on December 22, 2026, the Food and Drug Administration placed a freeze on the use of monoclonal antibodies.
Pfizer went on to record billions of dollars in Paxlovid sales.
Notably, on December 22, 2021, the Maryland Department of Health sent a memo to healthcare providers, which was reviewed by The Gateway Pundit. The memo stated that the Maryland Department of Health had been informed by the Department of Health and Human Services that monoclonal antibodies were not effective against the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and directed providers to cease administration of these antibody treatments. However, that same day, the FDA sent a communication to Eli Lilly, signed by four doctors at 4:50 pm, which conflicted with the Maryland guidance, freezing authorization of the antibody treatments, and noted that “there remains a need” for the medications, warranting removal of existing restrictions on their use.
“On December 22 of 2021, there’s just those two competing memos that cannot be reconciled. What’s crazy about it is they both use the same data. One says the data is bogus, and one says the data is great. And they based the shutting down of a cure for this disease that they shut the world down for on this data that four doctors from the FDA said is not to be believed,” Elfenbein told The Gateway Pundit. “It’s incredible. I mean, how does that happen?”
Former pharmaceutical-industry marketing executive and whistleblower John White, who has made formal whistleblower complaints to HHS, Senator Ron Johnson, and the Department of Justice, noted that “On that same day, coincidentally, the FDA authorized, through an emergency use authorization, Paxlovid, a competing antiviral pill, competing with antibodies.” He continued, “They came out with a little pill, and they issued it that same day, so the FDA issued an emergency use authorization for a competing product the same day for their buddies at Pfizer.”
“How many people died?” Elfenbein said, noting that the House and Senate “need to be investigating this.”
“85 percent reduction in mortality, 1.2 million. Let me say that again. 1.2 million of our fellow Americans are dead, according to the United States government, because of COVID. If you take 85% of those people that could potentially have survived, that’s a lot of people. They need to investigate this, quantify that, and hold some people accountable,” Elfenbein said.
Additionally, the government’s claims that the antibody treatments were ineffective against the Omicron variant “had no data” to support the freeze, Elfenbein said. “They had no clinical data to my knowledge. I’ve never seen a study that said that they had data on that, and I’ve looked.”
“No one ever produced any data that said these don’t work. They just said we have reason to believe it doesn’t work.”
So, Elfenbein went to the media and sounded the alarm on Fox News and Newsmax, which caused the government to reverse course temporarily, with the CDC revising its data on the presence of the Omicron variant and resuming the administration of antibody treatments. They initially said Omicron made up 73% of US cases but revised that figure a week later to just 22%– after Elfenbein went on Fox News and Newsmax.
“That’s a factor of 300%, statistically speaking. How can that be a mistake? 300% wrong, and people died because of that. It’s not just some inconsequential ‘Well, you know, I’m counting, I miscounted.’ 300% difference, and they withheld a life-saving drug that we had plenty of, because somebody got this wrong. That’s a pretty big mess up,” Elfenbein said.
“But then very quickly, the EUAs, emergency use authorizations for all the monoclonal antibodies got yanked off the market, and they no longer exist,” Elfenbein said.
“So, two days later, December 31st, they start shipping the drugs again, and thank God I went on national television and made a big stink about it because they started shipping the drugs again, and they started allowing us to start infusing again. But then very quickly, the EUAs, emergency use authorizations, for all the monoclonal antibodies got yanked off the market, and they no longer exist. You can’t get this life-saving treatment for COVID anymore.”
Then, “four months, literally almost to the day that I went on Fox News,” Elfenbein said, he was indicted for healthcare fraud while he was continuing to treat patients with the monoclonal antibodies.
After the Obama-appointed judge in his case acquitted him and the Biden DOJ appealed “weeks before Trump’s inaugurated,” Elfenbein faces another trial in January 2027, but says he’s “very confident” that the Trump DOJ will “do the right thing, and this will work out.”
“It turns out the doctor was not only targeted, but he was stumbling on what looks like the largest fraud in U.S. history. It looks like hundreds of thousands of people died because of this fraud,” said John White. “So, we have formally reported it to the Department of Justice, to the Health and Human Services, and right here to the Permanent Select Committee on Investigations, to Senator Ron Johnson, and to Congresswoman Luna. So, we formally reported all this just recently, and we’re asking for it to be investigated. But it looks like it’s the largest fraud in U.S. history.”
“I have every reason to believe that the Trump administration and specifically Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter and his team are going to do the right thing,” Elfenbein said.
“It’s formally in the hands of the Department of Justice in their antitrust division. We’ve got a new fraud czar, Vice President J.D. Vance,” John White said, noting that Sen. Ron Johnson and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna have also been provided with the information.
