High-Speed Rail in USA: An Expensive Tax Burden and Inefficient Solution for America’s Travel Infrastructure

For some reason, high-speed rail is a hot-button issue for liberals and a frequent point of criticism from Chinese communist propaganda and Europeans when they attack the U.S.

“How can you call yourself a developed country when you don’t have high-speed rail?” they ask. The reality is that high-speed rail would be more expensive and less efficient than our current travel infrastructure.

High-speed rail works in Europe and China because of government subsidies, higher taxes, and because people typically travel shorter distances and have fewer travel options.

The U.S. has more cars per capita, more highways, more airports, and more railroads than China or the EU. Additionally, Americans prefer to drive on trips up to 500 miles so they can have their car when they arrive and take the whole family for one price. For longer trips, Americans prefer flying because even high-speed rail is slower.

The US is extremely developed and has a culture of independence. Car ownership is more prevalent in the US than anywhere else, with 860 cars per thousand people, compared to 627 in Germany, 544 in Sweden, and 223 in China.

Not only does America have more cars per capita, but we also have more highways. The US National Highway System comprises 164,000 miles of highways, equipped with rest stops, gas stations, McDonald’s, hotels, and other amenities.

In contrast, China has 105,073 miles of highways, meaning the US has 56% more, despite China’s population being more than three times that of the US. And, good luck finding bathrooms and rest stops on China’s highways.

The EU has 46,540 miles of highways, less than one-third of the US, despite having a population 35% larger. While the German Autobahn is impressive, it is limited to Germany. Driving from Germany to Portugal, for example, is much less convenient  than covering the same distance in the US.

The US has the most extensive rail network in the world. The American National Rail Network spans 224,000 miles of track, primarily designed for heavy-gauge freight trains. In comparison, the European rail system is only half the size, with 94,000 miles of track, while China has  96,312 miles of track.

The US has the most airports of any country in the world, with 15,873. In comparison, the EU has over 2,000 airports, while China has only 531. Europeans may find trains sufficient because they don’t travel the long distances that Americans do.

The average American travels two to three times as much as EU citizens, depending on the country.

The US does not have high speed rail (HSR), while China and some parts of Europe do. However, high speed rail would not be viable for the United States. The distance between New York City and Los Angeles is approximately 2,800 miles.

If we assume an average speed of 186 miles per hour, it would take 15 hours to reach California by HSR. Yes, it is faster than driving, but most Americans fly that distance which takes 5 to 6 hours and costs anywhere from $63 to $200 USD.

And we can make that flight with our existing infrastructure rather than installing a HSR which would cost hundreds of billions of taxpayer money.

Right now, California is in the midst of constructing a high-speed rail line between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It covers approximately 500 miles, is estimated to cost up to $128 billion.

Extrapolating from this figure, the cost to build a high-speed rail line from New York to California could exceed $716 billion. And with that huge expense, you could get to California faster than driving, which almost no one does, but still slower than flying.

A normal train ticket from New York to California varies between $280 and $634, depending on factors like the time of booking, specific route, and class of service.

A high-speed rail ticket would presumably cost more. So now, in addition to taking more than twice as long to reach your destination, you also have the added benefit of paying multiple times the cost of an airline ticket.

The busiest passenger rail line in the US is the Northeast Corridor, running from Boston, Massachusetts, to Washington, D.C., passing through several major cities and making various key stops. Its viability is due to these many stops.

For example, the Acela, the fastest option between Washington, D.C., and New York City, stops at five stations: Philadelphia, PA; Wilmington, DE; Baltimore, MD; BWI Airport, MD; and Newark, NJ. A coach seat costs an average of $130-200 and takes about two hours and forty-five minutes to three hours.

HSR could make the trip, nonstop in just over an hour. However, eliminating stops between major cities would leave those cities underserved, hurting them economically and making travel difficult for residents. If the HSR made the same stops as the Acela its speed would be greatly reduced.

A high-speed rail (HSR) route from New York to Washington, D.C., making the same stops as the Acela would have a longer travel time due to deceleration, dwell time, and acceleration at each stop.

Typically, deceleration might start 15 miles before each station, taking about 15 minutes per stop. Each stop could add around 3 minutes for passenger boarding and alighting, and another 5 minutes for the train to accelerate back to cruising speed. For five stops, this would add approximately 115 minutes to the trip, resulting in a total travel time of about 2 hours and 55 minutes, about the same time as the Acela.

In contrast, a plane ticket from New York to Washington, DC, costs an average of $70-$100 one way and takes about 1 hour and fifteen minutes.

Driving from New York to Washington, DC, costs an estimated $70 in gasoline and tolls and takes about 4 to 5 hours. A train ticket costing $130-$200 for a single person could be almost three times as expensive as driving, but for a family of four, it could be nearly 12 times as expensive.

And despite the added expense, the high-speed rail would only save about 2 hours compared to driving. In short, HSR makes absolutely no sense for the US.

Alan Dershowitz Urges Ordinary Americans to File Lawsuits Against New York for Election Interference and Their Ongoing Attempts to Rig Election by Silencing Donald Trump!

Alan Dershowitz calls on Americans to file lawsuits against the lawless New York officials persecuting Trump.

Harvard Law Professor and author Alan Dershowitz joined Sean Hannity on Friday night to discuss New York City DA Alvin Bragg’s latest attempt to gag Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump from speaking about his lawfare show-trial in New York City.

On Friday Soros-funded DA Alvin Bragg filed a complaint to silence President Trump even though the sham lawfare case has already ended.

Bragg cited “ongoing threats” against his office by Trump supporters after his office abused the legal system to convict Trump of bogus crimes that have still not been defined.

This is how the Marxist left works. Get used to it.  Marxists never back down they only plow forward with their wicked drive for absolute power.

On Friday night Alan Dershowitz told the FOX News audience that

Sean Hannity:  Let’s get your take, Professor. I don’t think the Trump legal team has any other options but what they’re doing. Your thoughts?

Alan Dershowitz:  Well, they have to appeal. I have a piece in tonight’s Wall Street Journal in which I urge people like us to file lawsuits against New York. After all, we have the right to hear Donald Trump in the election.

And, this gag order says that Joe Biden can accuse Donald Trump of being a felon, having been convicted by an unfair jury, unfair judge of a non-crime. He has the right to do that. But Donald Trump has one hand tied behind his back because he can’t respond in full. He can’t talk about the judge’s daughter. He can’t talk about the unfairness of the jurors. I guess even the DA is now saying, Well, maybe he can talk about the witnesses.

But the First Amendment applies not only to Donald Trump, the speaker, but to all of us, the viewers and the listeners. We have the right to hear a full and complete debate, not a partial debate in which Trump is restricted about what he can say. So I hope that the gag order will be appealed by Trump’s lawyers. And I hope Amicus Briefs, friend of the Corp, briefs, will be submitted by ordinary people saying, Look, you’re depriving us of our right to hear somebody.

DHS Attempted to Turn Americans on Each Other

Documents released Thursday by America First Legal, a legal group led by Stephen Miller, former senior advisor to President Trump, show that a Department of Homeland Security group proposed that Americans report each other to federal law enforcement.

The documents released were after the AFL had sued the DHS over the creation of a “Homeland Intelligence Experts Group,” alleging that the group was illegally partisan and in violation of the Federal Advisory Committee Act. In response to the lawsuit, the DHS agreed to disband the group and give its records to AFL, in exchange for AFL dismissing the case.

In the documents of the now-disbanded committee, the DHS discussed ways to increase the collection of information on American citizens including by attempting to “get into local communities in a non-threatening way.”

The documents also included the suggestion that political dissent dealt with the “public health” infrastructure, and that information be collected with “a public health catcher’s mitt.”

The documents also show that the DHS group had intended to use various companies to collect information, with the documents stating “we need to know how commercial companies collect their data.”

Euro Elections Show Two Frances, Two Germanies

Euro Elections Show Two Frances, Two Germanies

Political fissures in Europe’s largest powers are becoming more pronounced.

Credit: T.B. photo

Although this website has already furnished sober assessments of the recent EU elections, perhaps I may belatedly add my own two cents with the following observations.

1. Scott McConnell’s identification of the present French right, that is, its two main parties, Rassemblement National and La Reconquête, as Gaullist is entirely correct. The political model for Marine Le Pen, Éric Zemmour, and other French nationalists who are now prominent in French politics was undoubtedly Charles De Gaulle, the creator of the Fourth French Republic and leader of the French Resistance during World War Two. One finds the French right’s warnings against Muslim immigration together with a vigorous defense of French national identity in De Gaulle’s speeches and correspondence. And one certainly doesn’t have to look back to interwar fascist movements, as McConnell shows, to find nationalist sentiments being expressed by French political figures.

2. The French governing class will have to find room in its government for the RN, which won 31.37 percent of the vote in last week’s elections. It is hard to see how Macron can govern, given French political sentiment, without including conservative nationalists. Moreover, France’s leaders can seek such an accommodation without reaching as far to the right as the unabashedly nationalist La Reconquête, which garnered only about 5 percent of the votes in the EU elections.

3. In any case, Macron will have to move rightward to form a workable government. His Renaissance (formerly En Marche) party, which attracted only about 20 percent of French voters, definitely needs coalition partners to stay in power. If present French leaders continue to observe the ban on an alliance with the excommunicated parties of the right, a dubious practice going back to Jacques Chirac’s presidency in the 1990s, they may have to accept weird allies on the left, namely the Front Populaire.

4. This grab bag of leftist remnants, which gained about 20 percent of the French vote, embraces a motley following, including Hamas enthusiasts, Arab-Muslim nationalists, communists, and pro-Israeli socialists. It may be difficult for Macron to break bread with these noisy activists, and it is hard to imagine Macron’s global capitalist administration working together with such hypothetical partners on shared economic programs or a shared immigration policy. Indeed, it may be difficult to imagine these leftist dissenters from different Lefts even meeting in the same room without producing a shouting match.

5. The former head of the center-right Les Républicains, Éric Ciotti, was ousted from office by his own party after trying to negotiate a working alliance with the RN. Ciotti’s move was attacked by the French media as an attempt to break the cordon sanitaire, which separates “rightwing extremists” from the media-approved “liberal democrats.” Macron would do well to ignore these arrogant gatekeepers and follow Ciotti’s course. Although Macron is hoping that the “snap election” for the French assembly that he’s called will confirm the status quo, there’s a good chance it won’t.

6. The German elections underscored the existence of two Germanies, a Western urban one heavily influenced by American political and cultural fashions and a more traditional Germany, which has survived in what the Germans call Mitteldeutschland, that region that formerly made up the Communist DDR. The voting patterns in the two parts of the country could not have been more different. In the five Eastern provinces, Sachsen, Thüringen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the conservative Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) won about 30 percent, which is a plurality of the votes cast, while the SPD couldn’t finish above fourth place in any East German province. In four of these provinces, the Greens and Party of the Left finished with less than five percent of the vote. The victories of the right in these areas may have been even more dramatic than those achieved by Marine Le Pen in France and Giorgia Meloni in Italy.

7. No comparable conservative victories, however, occurred in Western Germany, even if the socially leftist and environmentally radical Greens plummeted nationwide from 20 percent to 11.9 percent. In Berlin, Hamburg, and other large German cities, the Greens continued to win pluralities. The AfD did little to increase its presence there.

8. An obvious reason for these differences is that Germans who lived under Soviet control were never subject to the moral and cultural “reeducation” that Germans underwent during the American and English postwar occupation. West Germans subsequently inflicted the same kind of reeducation on themselves in an effort to divest themselves of their national past. The Soviets may have been politically oppressive, but made no attempt to wipe out German patriotism; nor did they aim at the disappearance of a German national identity. Rather than demonizing German culture and history, the communist regime directed its fire at capitalism and “American fascism.”

9. The result can be seen in the markedly different values and attitudes that prevail in the two regions. Western Germans are far more inclined than die Ossies (East Germans) to put up with massive Third-World immigration, while West Germans no longer demonstratively oppose the war on national identity that the German government and media have launched. West Germans also seem far more willing to put up with the spiking crime levels in their cities largely caused by immigration. The post–World War Two experiences of the two Germanies continue to present themselves despite their inhabitants’ apparent unification.

Rand Paul Was Right About Covid

Rand Paul Was Right About Covid

Few were so hated and so vindicated.

Credit: Win McNamee/Getty Images

Nearly three years ago this month, Anthony Fauci said to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), “Senator Paul, you do not know what you’re talking about.”

Paul had said there was evidence that the National Institute of Health had funded gain-of-function research at a research lab in Wuhan, China.

“I totally resent the lie that you are now propagating, senator,” Fauci would add. “And if anybody’s lying here, senator, it is you.”

It was one of their most fiery exchanges. In the following weeks and months, Paul would not relent.

Fauci accused Paul of just fundraising. CNN’s Brianna Keilar called Paul an “ass.” Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) defended Fauci from Paul’s supposedly mean-spirited questioning, “Thank you for calling out this agenda for what it is: an attempt to score political points, to build a political power base around the denial of science and around personal attacks on you and your family.”

Today, the NIH admits U.S. taxpayers funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan. Even Fauci now admits it’s not a conspiracy theory.

Paul knew this. He wasn’t being crazy or rude. Unlike most, he was studying.

The senator was attacked at the time when he said social distancing didn’t work. In January, Fauci acknowledged that the policy “sort of just appeared” and was not based on any science. Paul was bashed when he said those who had already had Covid had natural immunity and didn’t need vaccinating. Today, the CDC even admits this. Paul was lectured when he said cloth masks were mostly theater and didn’t work as well as N95 masks. The CDC now admits this too. Paul was ridiculed for saying schools should be reopened, kids had the lowest risk, and the lockdowns could do far more damage to children than the virus. By March of this year, even the New York Times could conclude, “Today, there is broad acknowledgment among many public health and education experts that extended school closures did not significantly stop the spread of Covid, while the academic harms for children have been large and long-lasting.”

There are more examples. But these alone are worthy of major discussion.

One many don’t want to have—won’t have.

Throughout the pandemic, legacy media considered it their duty to parrot and protect government policy as unquestionable and infallible. Many politicians did the same. So did entertainment.

The cult of Fauci that arose in that time made him into a devotional prayer candle. The pop star and Disney actress Olivia Rodrigo joined Fauci at a White House press briefing to read his fan mail tweets.

America had split between the good and intelligent people who understood and obeyed “The Science” and the bad half that did not. As an unorthodox libertarian Republican who was the son of Ron Paul and accustomed to kicking up a storm, elites had decided that Rand Paul was the bad half’s leader, assuming his outrageous questioning of Saint Fauci and pandemic pieties were the proof.

They never considered he might be right.

Now that Paul has been shown to be right about so many of his critiques of Covid policy, his critics don’t want to talk about it. They don’t want to say that Anthony Fauci was ever wrong. That any of his or the CDC’s policies were ever wrong. They certainly don’t want to say that they were wrong.

But far more so, they never want to say that Rand Paul was right. Ever. They can’t.

But he was, and while the Covid cultists were too busy circling their wagons each day to defend the tribe of officialdom, impervious to challenge or reason—what they accuse MAGA of—they inoculated themselves from some of the most basic common sense policy considerations.

After all, President Barack Obama once froze the funding of gain-of-function research for reasons not unlike Rand Paul’s questioning of it. (Just ask The Science.)

How much of the Covid-19 pandemic debate was out of genuine concern for public health and safety? How much of it was just more of the crude mindless tribalism that preceded the pandemic and came out arguably stronger on the other end?

You can ask all of the same experts and leaders who got it so wrong, who will perpetually have an audience of fellow travelers who also got it wrong, the whole lot of them still trying to rationalize the madness they imposed on their country.

Or you could just ask the guy who knew exactly what he was talking about the whole time.

MSNBC Guest Notes Trump’s Explosive Fundraising in Recent Weeks, Suggests Democrats Should be Concerned (VIDEO)

Trump’s fundraising numbers have gone through the roof. He is getting small dollar donations from average folks and massive donations from billionaires.

It is ironic that his fundraising really took off after the sham conviction in the New York trial, but that’s what happened.

Trump has now easily eclipsed the cash advantage that Biden and Democrats used to have.

Politico reports:

Trump raised so much last month he erased Biden’s cash advantage

Former President Donald Trump’s huge May fundraising haul erased President Joe Biden’s longstanding cash advantage as the two gear up for a rematch.

Trump’s campaign had $116.6 million in the bank at the end of May, compared to $91.6 million for Biden.

It wasn’t due to poor fundraising on the incumbent’s part — Biden’s campaign saw a decent fundraising rebound in May after a weak showing the month prior. But Trump’s fundraising while he was on trial in New York that month, punctuated in the final days when he was convicted, was enough to surpass Biden in campaign cash, something that had long been seen as a crucial strength of his.

One guest on MSNBC pointed out that this is probably causing a lot of worry among Democrats and the Biden campaign.

Transcript via RedState:

“If you’re sitting in Biden’s headquarters, you do not like these numbers because what they do show is that Donald Trump is going to have enough money to run this campaign in a very full way. You don’t like that your numbers are so much smaller than his in that month of May, and you are probably redoubling your efforts to raise money, to make sure that does not happen. If you just look at Trump and the RNC, they raised $106 million together in May. You look at Biden and the DNC, that number is $60 million in May. The difference there is basically 76 percent more for Trump and the RNC than Biden and the DNC. That’s not sustainable for the Democrats if that were to continue month after month.”

POLL: 87 Percent of Americans Think Biden’s Policies Have Hurt or Had No Impact on Inflation

A large majority of Americans believe Joe Biden’s policies have caused hurt or have had no impact on fighting inflation, according to new polling from Monmouth.

Along with the border and illegal immigration, inflation and the economy are top concerns for American voters, so this poll is a gut punch to the Biden campaign.

Trump is also more trusted on these issues.

Breitbart News has details:

Monmouth Poll: 87% Say Biden’s Policies Hurt, Had No Impact on Rising Costs

Eighty-seven percent of Americans believe President Joe Biden’s policies either hurt or had no impact on inflation, the number one issue among respondents, a Monmouth University poll found this week.

Under Biden’s leadership, costs soared across the board by about 20 percent. The increased cost of goods appears to be a top reason Biden is losing support among demographics that typically vote Democrat.

The pollster asked respondents, “Thinking about this most important concern, have the actions of the federal government over the past six months helped, hurt, or had no real impact on this concern?”

– Helped: 13 percent
– Hurt: 47 percent
– No real impact: 40 percent
– Don’t know: 1 percent

Americans said inflation was their first concern (24 percent), while the economy came in second (14 percent). Everyday bills ranked third (11 percent). Political stability was fourth (6 percent).

The poll also suggests more people are struggling to remain where they are financially:

Currently, 46% of Americans say they are struggling to remain where they are financially. In polls conducted between 2022 and 2023, this number ranged between 37% and 44%. In prior polls from 2017 to 2021, this sentiment was much lower at 20% to 29%. Those who are more likely to feel they are struggling include Republicans (54%) and independents (49%), those who earn less than $50,000 a year (56%) and between $50,000 and $100,000 (47%), and those who are Black, Hispanic, Asian, or of another race (53%). Among non-Hispanic whites, those without a college degree (48%) are much more likely than college graduates (29%) to say they are struggling. Other groups who are less likely to say they are struggling include Democrats (30%) and those earning more than $100,000 a year (33%).

Biden’s policies are not helping average Americans because they’re not designed to. Biden is focused on ‘transforming’ America into something that most Americans don’t want.

Billionaire Timothy Mellon Pours $50 Million into Trump-Backing PACs Just One Day After Conviction

Billionaire Timothy Mellon, heir to the Mellon banking empire and grandson of former Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, donated an astounding $50 million to Make America Great Again Inc., a super PAC dedicated to the re-election of President Donald Trump.

This donation came just one day after Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts in his New York hush money trial, according to Quartz, citing records filed with the Federal Election Commission.

The super PAC reportedly raised nearly $70 million last month, with Mellon’s contribution making up almost three-quarters of the total funds. This immense financial support signifies Mellon’s steadfast commitment to the former President’s cause and his faith in the MAGA movement.

BBC reported:

According to Forbes magazine, Mr Mellon is a descendant of Thomas Mellon, an Irish immigrant who amassed a fortune in real estate and banking after arriving in the US in 1818.

The Mellon family – which also included Mr Mellon’s grandfather Andrew, a former US treasury secretary – is today worth over $14bn (£11bn). Forbes estimates that that the Mellons are the 34th richest family in the US.

[…]

Even before his recent donation to the Trump campaign, Mr Mellon has a history of donating to conservative candidates and causes.

In 2010, Mr Mellon donated about $1.5m to the state of Arizona to defray the legal costs to defend SB 1070, a controversial anti-immigration bill.

More recently, Mr Mellon helped bankroll Texas governor Greg Abbott’s construction of a wall along the Mexican border, providing more than $53m for the project in 2021.

He also has given money to various Republican-aligned super PACS – or “political action committees” – to support conservative candidates.

The 81-year-old billionaire is not alone in his support for Trump. His generous donation aligns him with a growing number of billionaires who have openly backed the former President.

The billionaire Winklevoss twins endorsed Trump for president and donated $2 million to his 2024 campaign.

Only moments after the 34 guilty charges were announced, Sequoia Capitol Partner Shaun Maguire made a $300,000 donation to Trump’s 2024 campaign.

A Silicon Valley mogul, Jacob Helberg, who previously supported a variety of Democratic campaigns, has switched his allegiance and donated $1 million to Donald Trump.

New Dallas Mavericks majority owner and casino tycoon Miriam Adelson has confirmed her backing for Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign by pledging to be a primary financier for the Preserve America super PAC.

Several other billionaires have also made significant donations to Trump’s campaign:

Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein, scions of the Uline shipping and packing company, contributed a combined $10 million to MAGA Inc.
Bernie Marcus, co-founder of Home Depot, gave $1 million to Trump’s main super PAC, MAGA Inc., in the second half of 2023.
Isaac Perlmutter, former chairman and CEO of Marvel Entertainment, and his wife Laura made the largest donation of $10.1 million to a new pro-Trump super PAC, Right for America, in the first quarter.
Linda McMahon, co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), donated $11 million to support Trump this election cycle, making her his second-largest donor after Mellon.

Conservative Activist Scott Presler Describes Positive Changes at the Republican National Committee (VIDEO)

During a recent interview with Breitbart News, conservative activist Scott Presler described positive changes at the RNC (Republican National Committee) since it was taken over by Lara Trump.

Presler has been working hard for years to register new voters as Republicans, completely on his own. He says that he reached out to the RNC many times when it was run by Ronna McDaniel, but that he only ever heard back when Lara Trump came on board.

Presler has been very effective in his efforts and if Trump wins Pennsylvania in November, some of the credit should go to Presler who has been on the ground in the state, working to flip entire counties from blue to red.

From Breitbart News:

Conservative activist Scott Presler told Breitbart News that “the more they indict” former President Donald Trump, “the more they unite” his supporters.

After being asked to react to the lawfare being waged against Trump, Presler said, “I am convicted to vote for President Donald Trump, and my vote for him is locked up.”

“And I say that because I want the left to know — I want the Democrats to know — that the more that they indict him, the more that they unite us,” Presler added. “The American people are coming together in support for Donald Trump.”

Presler, who runs the voter registration organization Early Vote Action, spoke to Breitbart News on Sunday at Turning Point Action’s “The People’s Convention” in Detroit, Michigan.

“I’m focused on Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin,” he said. “We win those five, we win the 270 that we need to elect Donald Trump.”…

Presler noted that “Pennsylvania, two years ago, had 595,000 more Dems than Republicans,” adding, “We have narrowed that 200,000 in two years’ time. So our voter registration is making a real impact.”

In this video, he talks about the old RNC vs. the new.

Presler has repeatedly shown himself to be an effective leader. Republicans owe him a debt of gratitude.

Victor Davis Hanson Analyzes the ‘Full Leftwing Meltdown’ as Trump Rises in Polls

There is no denying that conservative scholar and historian Victor Davis Hanson is one of the smartest men in America. He understands not only the politics of the right, but also the progressive left.

As Trump is rising in polls where Republicans are not even supposed to be competitive, Hanson sees an increasing panic on the left which manifests in cable news segments and interviews with prominent Democrats, as well as in the behavior of left wing activists on the street.

In a very long screed on Twitter/X this week, Hanson outlined and analyzed what the left is going through right now, and what they will do as Trump becomes more of an inevitability.

From Twitter/X:

Anatomy of a Full Leftwing Meltdown

The media is afire with warnings of the impending Trump “dictatorship”. Celebrities, the Squad, and Biden administration grandees vie to conjure up the most nightmarish things that Trump might do to them.

What drives their current mounting hysteria?

1) The Left feels it may be heading to an historic 1972 McGovern-like or 1980 Carteresque blowout. And it is terrified at this late date that it cannot do anything either about the escalating dementia of Joe Biden, or the terror instilled by the specter of either a President or continued Vice-President Kamala Harris.

2) It knows that a first-term novice Trump had a successful four years, and that he now is savvier four years later—and far more likely and able to overturn the entire four-year Biden catastrophe and thus enjoy an even more successful second term.

3) It fears that all it did to destroy democracy—the Russian collusion hoax, the Russian disinformation laptop farce, the two first-term impeachments the moment the Republicans lost the House, the Senate trial of ex-President Trump as a private citizen, the effort to remove Trump from state ballots, and the five criminal and civil show trials designed to bankrupt the leading presidential candidate and keep him off the campaign trail—might boomerang on the Left.

So, it is in full panic that its unconstitutional efforts to destroy Trump will obviously be used against itself—given it knows that if it returned to power it would go after its enemies in precisely the same, any-means-necessary ways that it had sought to destroy Trump. That is, they have destroyed norms and have established dangerous new precedents that they just assume, given their Jacobin nature, must rebound against themselves.

If you want to read more, you can open Hanson’s tweet below:

His analysis on this is very strong, as usual.
