Why the Trump Conviction Shakes Up Senate Leadership Races

Why the Trump Conviction Shakes Up Senate Leadership Races

And how both insurgents and the establishment are licking their chops for a harder line.

For many on Capitol Hill, the former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict didn’t come as much of a surprise. For those on the left, of course the former president is guilty of much more than paying off a former mistress; some still even believe Russia is to blame for Trump’s ascent. On the right, most agree Trump was doomed from the start: A George Soros-backed district attorney with help from high powered former DOJ lawyers brought the case in an uber-progressive jurisdiction and argued it in front of a far from unbiased judge.

The Trump wing sees the Democratic Party as behind an attempting jail of the nation’s opposition leader. The more pressing, and more divisive, question for Republicans is what to do about it. For the Senate GOP, Trump’s conviction has given leadership races new meaning.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced he’ll be stepping down as the Senate GOP’s leader after the November election. The senator will cement himself as the longest-serving leader in the chamber’s history. Until then, however, McConnell is a bit of a lame duck, his powers reduced by the conference’s crumbling faith in his leadership after several legislative miscues (on the border, Ukraine aid, and appropriations, to name a few). McConnell has been equivocal in his support for Trump following the convictions.

“These charges never should have been brought in the first place. I expect the conviction to be overturned on appeal,” McConnell tweeted. But McConnell hasn’t been willing to offer much more than tweets of support for the former president. When asked directly whether or not he stands behind Trump after the conviction, McConnell refused to answer and simply reiterated the tweet.

“What an inspiring response from the Senate GOP Leader, shining in its passivity, conceding that Dems can lock up the presumptive GOP presidential nominee and he will do…wait for it…nothing,” the Conservative Partnership Institute’s Rachel Bovard tweeted.

“There is plenty the Senate GOP can do to to this verdict, even as a minority. Block easy consent confirmations for Biden nominations, vote against the ones that do come to the floor, and 41 of them should refuse to vote to fund this weaponized Dept of Justice,” Bovard added in another tweet.

In the conversations that The American Conservative has had with Republican senators after the conviction, all expressed their outrage with the verdict, but most have come to the conclusion that tweets from GOP leadership won’t cut it. Nevertheless, even some senators willing to act in the wake of Trump’s conviction question the extent to which Republicans can disrupt Senate Democrats before the election.

“I think there was certainly an understanding by many Republican senators that what happened was outrageous, surely should be commented on, certainly shouldn’t be taken just lying down,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) told TAC. “In the Senate, with the Democrats as a majority, they control the agenda, they control the floor, and there’s really limited things we can do.”

The sentiment expressed by Johnson only raises the stakes in the upcoming leadership elections where Johnson and others are looking for leadership candidates to follow words with action.

As it stands now, Sens. John Thune (R-SD), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Rick Scott (R-FL) have their eyes on the top spot. Each have been more assertive in their response to Trump’s conviction.

Thune, the Senate GOP’s second in command as current Republican Whip, has been more verbose than McConnell in his repudiation of Trump’s conviction. “This case was politically motivated from the beginning, and today’s verdict does nothing to absolve the partisan nature of this prosecution,” Thune said upon hearing Trump was found guilty in New York. “Regardless of outcome, more and more Americans are realizing that we cannot survive four more years of Joe Biden,” Thune added. “With President Trump in the White House and a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate, we can finally end the disastrous Biden-Schumer agenda that’s crushing American families and businesses.”

Cornyn, who preceded Thune as the Senate GOP number two, released a statement following the verdict. “This verdict is a disgrace, and this trial should have never happened. Now more than ever, we need to rally around President Trump, take back the White House and Senate, and get this country back on track,” it read. “The real verdict will be Election Day.”

Meanwhile, Scott, the former National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) chair who is considered the conservative underdog in the leadership race, tweeted, “This was a sham trial and the clearest example we’ve ever seen of election interference. I am furious and no American is safe from Democrat political persecution.”

“Joe Biden and the Democrat machine manufactured a legal case against Trump to win an election. I went to New York to stand with President Trump and the American voters will stand with him this November,” Scott added.

Saying something in a leadership race is one thing. Following through is another.

In a rather clever maneuver, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) put together a statement that seeks to not only to exact revenge on Democrats for attempting to imprison Trump but also test the mettle of leadership candidates before the conference makes its choice.

“The White House has made a mockery of the rule of law and fundamentally altered our politics in un-American ways,” the statement reads. “As a Senate Republican conference, we are unwilling to aid and abet this White House in its project to tear this country apart. To that end, we will not 1) allow any increase to non-security related funding for this administration, or any appropriations bill which funds partisan lawfare; 2) vote to confirm this administration’s political and judicial appointees; and 3) allow expedited consideration and passage of Democrat legislation or authorities that are not directly relevant to the safety of the American people.”

So far, 14 members of the Republican conference have signed on to the pledge: Senators Lee, Vance, Tuberville, Schmitt, Blackburn, Rick Scott, Marshall, Rubio, Hawley, Johnson, Ernst, Paul, Daines, and Hagerty.

Lee expects the list of signatories will continue to grow. For Lee, the pledge as a way to strike a balance between ensuring the Senate focuses on its necessary work, holding Democrats accountable for partisan lawfare, and sending a message to constituents that they are willing to strongly react to the effort to jail Trump.

“This can’t just be business as usual. We can’t see the conviction and just proceed as if nothing has happened,” Lee told TAC in a phone interview. “In the areas where [Democrats] need us to do them a favor, either by doing something that they want and we might be willing to support, procedurally or by confirming their nominees, or otherwise, we’re not going to be doing any extra favors.”

TAC asked Lee whether or not he has been satisfied so far with the current leadership’s response. “Every member, including members of leadership, are going to make their own decisions about what they think is the appropriate response,” Lee replied, adding, however, that he hasn’t seen leadership come up with a response “that does what I think needs to be done.”

“To the extent they’ve offered a response, their spoken responses have been focused on suggesting that members are focused on inflation and border security,” Lee added. “But focusing on inflation and border security doesn’t obviate the need for us to point out that something significant has happened.”

“Mike Lee recognized that we had to comment on that and that was what he came up with in the hopes of finding some kind of consensus in our conference,” Johnson, a signatory, told TAC. “Obviously, there’s not a consensus in our conference. There rarely is.”

As Lee’s pledge gains more signatories, conservative senators are hatching plans to follow through on the promises made in the pledge. On Thursday, five of the former president’s closest allies in the upper chamber announced they’ll be working to block confirmation of nearly four dozen Biden political appointees.

Vance will spearhead the effort to force the Senate into a longer process to confirm Biden appointees and hamstring legislative business Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer wishes to advance. Five other signatories of the Lee statement, Hagerty, Marshall, Schmitt, Tuberville, and Lee himself, have joined this spinoff effort. As has Sen.

“In a continuing response to the current administration’s persecution of President Donald Trump, we will not allow the fast-tracking of any Biden Article III court judicial nominees, as well as Biden U.S. attorney nominations,” the senators claimed in a statement. “Further, we will not permit the fast-tracking of nominees who have suggested the Trump prosecutions were reasonable, endorsed President Trump’s guilt in these sham proceedings, joined or supported organizations that celebrated the indictment of President Trump, supported the “get-Trump” candidacy of Alvin Bragg, or supported lawfare or censorship in other ways.”

Some of the more notable of the approximately four dozen holds on Biden appointees include Rep. Barbara Lee’s (D-CA) nomination to represent the U.S. at the UN General Assembly, and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy’s nomination to the WHO Board.

Only one of the three candidates for GOP leader, Scott, has signed on to Lee’s original pledge. “This is not insignificant what they did: to indict a former president and convict a former president, Biden’s number one political opponent,” Scott said of his decision to sign on to Lee’s statement. “We all have to stop and say to ourselves, ‘What are we going to do to make sure that we change the conversation, to stop what’s going on?’ We cannot continue as a country if every election cycle, each party is going after their political opponent and trying to put them in jail.”

“If you talk to Republican voters, they want to know what am I doing to fight against the radical left and their commitment to destroy this country. They want to know, what are we doing to fight. Are we going to block their nominees? Are we going to stop this wasteful spending? What’s our message and what do we stand for?” Scott continued. “What I plan to be doing by signing [this statement] is to say that I know that this is not business as usual. Indicting the number one political opponent of a sitting president is not business as usual. We’re going to make sure everybody understands that we take this seriously, and we’re going to do everything we can to block the Democrats until this ends.”

Scott told TAC that the conviction against Trump has heavily impacted the way he views the upcoming election on November 5, where Scott will fight to hold his senate seat, and the GOP Senate leadership elections that will follow. “We need to campaign and rally for our president,” Scott said. “We have to win in November. So what are we going to do to help make sure Trump wins the White House and we get a majority in the House and Senate?”

For Scott, who has developed a reputation for being a bridge builder between House and Senate conservatives, this means bringing people together. “As a leader, what you do is you bring your conference together, you find the best ideas, and you work together to have a unified message. You lead by bringing people together, you lead by getting the best out of everybody, you lead by making sure everybody is able to succeed.”

Scott’s view of leadership is fundamental to not only winning in November, but changing the status quo in the Senate GOP conference. “Everybody should be able to represent their state, everybody should be involved in the process up here, and everybody should be able to work to come together with the best ideas to fight for the issues that we believe in.”

That is a significant departure from the McConnell model, where legislation would frequently be handed down from on high just hours before senators were expected to vote. “We’ve got to be very bold,” Scott says of the changes he’d make as leader. “We cannot have a status quo. We need to make significant change if we’re going to get a significant result.”

The other Floridian in the Senate, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), had kind things to say about Scott’s bid during a recent appearance on Fox News’ Mornings with Maria.

“My home state colleague Rick Scott is in the race. I’m a big fan of his. I think he would do a good job,” Rubio said.

“I like the other two folks running as well,” Rubio continued. For now, Rubio isn’t getting too involved in the leadership race despite rumors that Rubio himself could launch a bid for one of the Senate GOP’s top three positions.

“I want to see how the elections go. I want to see how our party performs and I want to see what direction voters send our country and the Republican Senate after November,” Rubio added.

As McConnell is on his way out and frequently siding with Democrats on major legislative priorities, a lot of the pressure to deliver a senate majority for Republicans come November rests on Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT), the current chair of the NRSC, the body responsible for helping Republican senate candidates get elected.

A Daines spokesperson told TAC that “Senator Daines is laser-focused on delivering a Senate majority so that Republicans will be able to elect a Majority Leader.”

Daines is among the 14 to sign Lee’s pledge and could potentially decide to launch a bid for GOP leadership himself, especially if Republicans can deliver big in November. TAC asked Daines about his decision to sign on to the Lee statement. He replied by email,

The trial against President Trump was a total sham and the entire country knows it. My colleagues, the American people and I are all outraged by the political weaponization of our judicial system and it only emphasizes what’s at stake in November. I joined my colleagues in a commitment to block Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden’s radical agenda because we cannot let the far-Left destroy our nation and undermine Americans’ trust.

With most of the attention focused on the top of the GOP leadership ballot, Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) is quietly running unopposed for Whip. Underneath Barrasso, however, a tight contest between Sens. Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) is taking shape for Republican Conference chair. Ernst has signed on to Lee’s pledge, while Cotton, who has strained his relationship with some conservatives by his hawkish foreign policy stances, has not.

“Iowans want to know what we are going to do to right the country,” Ernst told TAC of her decision to sign on to the Lee statement. “This is me exercising my responsibility as a senator to push back on an administration that my constituents and I believe has gone too far.” Cotton did not reply to a request for comment by publication.

“We’ve got a broad spectrum within our conference,” Johnson told TAC of the dynamics at play in the leadership fight. “There are those of us who recognize how the radical left, which is the Democratic Party, is destroying this country. We’ve got a lot of people that want to get results. We got a lot of people who like spending money; a lot of people that are primarily interested in building up our defense. We’ve got a broad spectrum of people who have different priorities.”

The GOP’s big tent can make governing a circus. “We continue to search for what we can do,” Johnson said. “What my recommendations are moving forward is to play out very precisely and concisely what we will do if we obtain the majority.” Better to develop a difficult plan now than not have one come January 2025 if Republicans win back the majority.

“You need a leader that’s actually dedicated to shrinking the size, scope, and cost of the federal government, and we haven’t had one.” Johnson said. When TAC asked if there is a candidate in the race committed to doing so, Johnson instantly replied, “Rick Scott.”

There’s no guarantee, however, that the trend McConnell started won’t continue, according to Johnson: “We still have members of Congress, or members of the Senate, that are happy to spend money and bring pain to their constituencies.”

Despite Right’s Victory in Europe, The War Will Go On

Despite Right’s Victory in Europe, The War Will Go On

The Washington consensus is as strong as ever on the continent.

In line with expectations, populist right wing parties across Europe made significant gains in last weekend’s EU parliamentary elections. The results have been interpreted as a vote of no confidence in the Atlanticist establishment’s handing of the proxy war between Russia and NATO—and these very much include the war’s knock-on effects, not least soaring energy prices (thanks to the prohibition on cheap Russian gas and its replacement with expensive American LNG), economic stagnation, and widespread disillusion over the Washington-led sanctions regime against Russia.

A survey taken by the Hungarian Szazadveg Foundation showed that, with regard to the sanctions policy, “three times as many respondents (31%) thought that the sanctions primarily harmed the EU as those who thought they harmed Russia (12%)” [emphasis mine].

As Gladden Pappin, the president of the Hungarian Institute of Foreign Affairs, recently told me, “I think that the war and the consequences of the war are the principal driver of political movements in Europe at the moment, with migration being a second one. But the problem here is that Europe itself lacks agency, lacks full agency in international affairs.”

By the most recent count, the European populist-right will control no fewer than 165 seats. Meanwhile the center-right European People’s Party is expected to control somewhere near 190 seats in the coming session—good news for the incumbent EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who is widely expected to seek another term.

The fallout from the vote was immediate and, in France, dramatic. France’s President Emmanuel Macron, whose Renaissance party was crushed by Marine Le Pen’s rightwing National Rally by 15 percentage points, made the surprise decision to dissolve parliament and hold snap elections beginning June 30, with a second round July 7.

The reaction in global markets was swift, with French equities tumbling and bond yields climbing to their highest levels since November. But Macron is betting that expected higher voter turnout for a national election will play to his favor and give him a government with which he can do business. Yet, as Matthias Matthijs, Dean Acheson Chair at Johns Hopkins SAIS, noted in a post-election panel on Tuesday, “He is taking a major risk here.” Macron’s electoral fortunes may hinge on the popularity (or lack thereof) of his oft-stated threat to send French troops to bolster the faltering war effort in Ukraine.  Macron’s pro-war stance may be his undoing, as polls indicate that some 69 percent of EU citizens oppose sending troops to Ukraine.

Happily, the EU election results were a disaster for the pro-war Green Party, which can only be seen as a positive development for voters interested in ending the conflict.  In Germany, where Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is a leading member of the Greens and among the most unhinged proponents of the NATO–Russia proxy war, the Greens’ share of the vote was half of what it was in the last EU election in 2019. Polls show that Greens’ share of the vote in Germany this time around is hovering just below 12 percent.

While it is tempting to see the election results as a referendum on issues of war and peace, it is not at all clear that they will have any tangible effect on the conduct of the war. The American University in Paris Professor Emeritus Hall Gardner cautions, “It is not clear where the European rightwing is heading with respect to the Russian war with Ukraine.”

Discussing the case of Italian premier Giorgia Meloni, Gardner cautions that, once a critic, she “now supports a pro-Ukraine Atlanticist policy despite popular opposition to selling arms to Ukraine and dissent within her own party.” Indeed, according to Gardner, “many of the right-wing leaders are moderating their previously strong opposition to the war.”

And despite the strong showing at the polls for nationalist parties promising change, the Atlanticist consensus remains unscathed. Von der Leyen, a stalwart supporter of Washington’s prerogatives in Europe, may well recapture the powerful EU Commission presidency, and reports are now circulating that hawkish Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and a favorite of the neocon-think tank world, the Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski (a key supporter of the Maidan coup of 2014 and the husband of Anne Applebaum, who tweeted “Thank you, USA” in response to the destruction of Nord Stream), are among the leading candidates to succeed Spain’s Josep Borrell as EU foreign affairs commissioner.

As University of Kent Professor Emeritus Richard Sakwa recently noted, there are “islands of disobedience” to the Atlanticist consensus such as Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia and the Alternative for Germany and National Rally parties. “But,” Sakwa notes, “the rest are no longer resisting; the political West has swallowed up the political elite of Europe.”

Just so. And it hardly needs pointing out that ultimately the conduct of the war rests not in Berlin nor in Paris nor in Brussels but in Washington and Moscow. And a right-populist ascendancy in the European parliament is unlikely in the extreme to matter at all to those who exercise the true power of command.

Reporter Asks Residents of Wilmington, Delaware About Hunter Biden Trial – Gets Priceless Reactions (VIDEO)

Mia Cathell is an investigative reporter for Townhall. After Hunter Biden was found guilty this week, Cathell walked around Wilmington, Delaware and asked residents what they thought about the verdict.

Some people were shocked that he was found guilty, others claimed that they knew for sure that Hunter was a crackhead. One thing they all seemed to agree on is that if it was them, they would be in jail right now.

This is the sort of reporting that the mainstream media used to do.

From Townhall:

Many of the Wilmingtonians we talked to were floored to hear that the president’s son wasn’t acquitted on all charges, given who his famous father is and that the trial practically took place in Biden’s backyard.

“It’s Bidenworld out here,” one woman, who works for the local government, told Townhall. “I have a lot of thoughts,” the state employee said, but declined to appear on video for fear of retaliation…

Hunter’s drug addiction, which his defense team disputed at trial, is public knowledge around town, according to those native to Biden’s home turf.

“He’s definitely a crackhead,” a lifelong local, who “grew up with” the First Family, said of Hunter Biden. “I’ve lived here for 30 years. Total crackhead.”…

“Of course, he is guilty,” a woman waiting for a bus at Rodney Square, the city’s center, said matter-of-factly. “He was over West Side buying crack. He got the gun, lied on the thing.”

“Yeah, he’s guilty!” a bystander piled on, adding: “This should have happened a really, really long time ago.”…

“If it was me doing it [lying on a federal firearms form] and I got the [three] felonies, I’d be right behind the bars right now. I wouldn’t even be speaking to you. And that’s what should have happened to him,” she said.

Watch the video below:

I walked around Wilmington and asked residents, who know the Bidens best, what they thought of Hunter Biden’s guilty verdict. Their reactions were priceless.

“Biden’s son deserved what he get,” one man told @townhallcom. “And every other Biden in between.”

“There’s no way in… pic.twitter.com/Aaywiv10In

The double standard these people talk about in the video could be a big part of Biden’s undoing. Despite the best efforts of Democrats and the media, average folks know what’s really going on here.

POLL: Most Voters Think Biden’s Mental Decline is Real

New polling from Rasmussen Reports finds that a majority of likely voters believes that Joe Biden’s mental decline is real.

Democrats and the media have tried so hard to gaslight the public into believing that Biden is perfectly fine and functions perfectly – when he is behind closed doors and no cameras are rolling. They would actually have you believe that Biden only seems to malfunction when you can see and hear him.

The problem for the left is that people are not stupid. People can see Biden and they know he is in decline because it’s obvious to even the most casual observer.

The Washington Examiner reports:

Voters agree: ‘Biden’s mental decline is real’

President Joe Biden‘s awkward appearance at Monday night’s Juneteenth jive at the White House may help reinforce new polling on the concerns voters have that he is in swift decline.

Standing stiffly in a lineup of aides and key black leaders clapping and dancing to music on the South Lawn, Biden demonstrated what Rasmussen Reports found in its latest polling of likely voters.

“Most Voters Think Biden’s Mental Decline Is Real,” the outlet headlined in its latest survey.

Biden’s health is increasingly being charted by social media accounts capturing his slurring speech and frequent fumbles of fact. The latest trend has been to compare his speeches from a few years ago to today.

In its poll, Rasmussen found that 57% believe Biden is losing his mental edge. Even a third of Democrats agreed that “President Joe Biden is getting less and less mentally sharp,” as did half of Hispanic and black voters.

You would have to be blind to not notice Biden’s issues.

Biden appears to be frozen in timepic.twitter.com/5JhAzZAScU

Back in 2017, Democrats and the media repeatedly invoked the 25th Amendment, claiming that Trump had mental issues and was unfit to hold office. Now the same people defend an obviously impaired Biden. It’s amazing.

‘Dream Come True’: Woman Unaware She Was Pregnant Gives Birth in Taco Bell Bathroom

A woman who was unaware she was pregnant gave birth to a child in the bathroom of a Taco Bell in Richmond, Virginia.

Breonni Jackson, who works as an in-home nurse, went to her local Taco Bell to pick up food for a patient. However, she realized something was up when she experienced stomach cramps.

“The pain hit me once again,” she told Channel 6 News in an interview. “I went back in the bathroom and this time when I sat down there was no standing back up. “I look down and that’s when I realized I was still bleeding.”

She then called her husband, Jamarz Jackson, who works at VCU Medical Center.

She’s crying, she’s breathing heavy, so immediately I’m like babe what’s wrong?” he explained. ““And she’s like, how fast can you get to me? So I’m like, oh God.”

“I’m running past the Panera Bread and then I hear her let out this gut-wrenching scream,” he continued. “I’m still panicking, I’m like, babe, say something, and then she’s like oh my God, oh my God,” said Jackson. “I’m like what’s wrong, what happened? And she was like I just had a baby. And I was like, you did what?!”

Making the case even more extraodinary is that neither of them knew she was pregnant.

“I was like, okay, no, there’s no way,” Breonni Jackson said. “I picked her up, I wrapped her in my shirt, she hadn’t let out a cry or anything yet.”

“I realized the umbilical cord was still wrapped around her throat,” she continued. “I unwrapped the umbilical cord, as I unwrapped the last one she took a deep breath and he heard her holler for the first time.”

Meanwhile, employees of the Taco Bell had no idea what was happening.

“They didn’t realize what was going on until the ambulance got there and asked them for the key in order to unlock the door,” she explained. “I’m still in shock. But to be honest it still couldn’t have come at a better time.”

Last June, the couple lost their nine-month-old son in a car accident after colliding with a camper van.

“It was a matter of a nightmare, as well as, this just can’t be something that’s real,” she said. “To know that I lost my son doing something that I do on a daily basis was the worst thing ever.”

“She’s definitely a dream come true,” she added. “To lose one and truly gain another one is definitely the best gift that we could ever ask for.”

The couple have since named their child Ayanna.

Breonni may have experienced what is known as a cryptic pregnancy. According to the Cleveland Clinic, this is simply when a pregnant woman does not know they are pregnant.

“Most people realize they’re pregnant somewhere between four and 12 weeks of pregnancy,” the clinic explains. “This could be because they have symptoms of pregnancy or because they missed their period.”

“A positive result on a pregnancy test can confirm pregnancy. With a cryptic pregnancy, nothing triggers a person to believe they’re pregnant. This could be because they don’t have symptoms of pregnancy or mistake symptoms of pregnancy as a virus, or their pregnancy test result was wrong.”

HILARIOUS: Commedian Ricky Gervais Trolls Hollywood Celebs and TDS Infected Leftists (VIDEO)

Ricky Gervais posted a video earlier this week, aimed at Hollywood leftists, satirically declaring from his bathtub that he will “leave the country” if America doesn’t vote the right way.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Gervais destroyed Hollywood elites, while hosting the 2020 Golden Globes in Beverly Hills.

At the annual ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Gervais ended his monologue by telling the limousine liberals: “If you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a political platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything, you know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So, if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your God, and f*ck off. OK?”

Comedian Ricky Gervais Eviscerates Hollywood At The Globes: ‘You Don’t Know Anything… F*ck Off’ (VIDEO)

Now he’s back with another hilarious satire of a woke influencer, declaring he will leave the country “if you don’t vote the right way.”

“As a celebrity, I know all about stuff like science and politics,” says Ricky G, wellness and beauty influencer. ” So, trust me when I tell you who you should vote for. If you don’t vote the right way, that’s like a hate crime, and it makes me sad and angry, and I’ll leave the country, and you don’t want that,” he continues.

It can be recalled that in 2016, before Trump won the presidency, a number of famous leftists, including Rosie O’Donnell, Raves Simone, Whoopie Goldberg, and Samuel L. Jackson, claimed they would leave the country if Trump were elected President.

Here are a few of the leftist elites who said they would move to Canada if Trump won. Too bad they stayed!

In an X post that has been viewed nearly three million times, Gervias trolled the self-professed 2016 exiles of the Trump administration.

Watch below:

Gervais: Hi guys, Ricky G. here, wellness and beauty influencer. As a celebrity, I know all about stuff like science and politics. So, trust me when I tell you who you should vote for. MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch on Trump and Republicans: ‘The Real Problem is the Voters’ (VIDEO)

Donny Deutsch, who is a contributor for MSNBC and a frequent guest on Morning Joe, recently outlined what he sees as the real problem with Republicans and Trump.

In Donny’s eyes, the main issue is the voters who support Trump and the party. Deutsch is disturbed that so many Americans support the GOP and Trump.

This is fascinating because it’s a glimpse into the progressive mind. There are probably many Democrats who think just like Donny.

FOX News reports:

Ex-MSNBC host: ‘The real problem’ is ‘half the country’ supports Trump and the GOP: ‘It’s the voters’

Donny Deutsch trashed “half the country” Thursday, saying Republican voters have pushed the GOP in a bad direction.

MSNBC’s Jonathan Lemire asked whether GOP leadership meeting with Trump, despite criticizing him in the past, is “emblematic of the rot of the GOP right now.”

“Eight years we’ve been going through this dance with various Republicans. It verges from spinelessness to lack of character to complete duplicity to fraud,” journalist Mike Barnicle said, arguing the GOP as he knew it is gone. “One political party, major political party gone, diminished, means nothing to a lot of people today. I don’t know how you re-brand that.”

By contrast, Deutsch argued that voters are the ones responsible.

“The real problem is not the party itself, it’s the voters who are subscribing to the party – 74 million of them last time around,” Deutsch said. “This time, Trump is ahead in the polls, not by a lot.”

Here’s the video:

Donny Deutsch: The Problem Is Not The Republican Party, It’s The 74 Million Trump Votershttps://t.co/UqeypgURq5

How dare half of the country disagree with Deutsch and his progressive pals. Can you even imagine being this out of touch?

HUGE! New Documents Reveal Biden is Personally Responsible for Attacks by His Dog Commander – Biden Repeatedly Watched as His Dog Bit Secret Service Agents

Graphic via Judicial Watch

New documents obtained by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch reveal Joe Biden is personally responsible for attacks by his German Shepherd Commander.

These documents were obtained after Judicial Watch reported that Joe Biden abuses his dogs. According to a Judicial Watch source, Joe Biden punches and kicks his dogs.

According to emails obtained by Judicial Watch, Joe Biden watched as his dog aggressively bit a Secret Service agent’s arm two times in a row.

Another email reveals the chaos behind the scenes after TMZ reported on a dog bite at the White House.

“A September 27, 2023, email from a Secret Service worker’s compensation official in the Safety, Health & Environmental Division writes to several colleagues: “Heads up and FYI. TMZ just reported a dog bite at the White House! Can we please find a way to get this dog muzzled.”” – Judicial Watch reported.

A colleague asks, “How does TMZ know before we do???” An official in the same division responds “Not sure. We must get this dog muzzled.” Another replies, “Geezzzz…”. Another adds, “Unbelievable!”

Documents show Commander is behind at least 23 biting incidents. Biden’s other German Shepherd Major is behind at least 10 biting incidents.

Judicial Watch reported:

Judicial Watch announced today that it received 116 pages of United States Secret Service (USSS) records from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) that reveal the details about several incidents in which Secret Service personnel were bitten by President Biden’s dog Commander, sometimes requiring medical attention.

The records come in response to a February 2024 lawsuit that was filed after the Department of Homeland Security failed to respond to a September 27, 2023, FOIA request (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (No. 1:24-cv-00429)). Judicial Watch asks for:

Any and all records related to incidents of aggression and bites involving the Biden family dog, “Commander”, including but not limited to communications sent to and from USSS officials in the Uniformed and Non-Uniformed Divisions involved in White House operations and the Presidential Protection Division.

The newly obtained records include a September 12, 2023, email between Secret Service officials stating:

POTUS took Commander (on a leash) to the Kennedy Garden this evening for a walk. While POTUS and Commander were in the Kennedy Garden I was standing half way from the Book-Sellers and the Family Theater. POTUS opened the Book-Seller door and said [redacted]. As I started to walk toward him to see if he needed help, Commander ran through his legs and bit my left arm through the front of my jacket. I pulled my arm away and yelled no. POTUS also yelled [redacted] to Commander. POTUS then [redacted]. I obliged and Commander let me pet him. When turning to close the door, Commander jumped again and bit my left arm for the second time. POTUS again yelled at Commander and attached the leash to him. My suit coat has 3 holes,1 being all the way through. No skin was broken.

“These documents show Joe Biden is personally responsible for attacks by his dog Commander on Secret Service personnel,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “No wonder the Biden White House forced us to go to federal court for these records.”

Trump recently joined TikTok and quickly amassed more than 6 million followers on the app.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden barely has a few hundred thousand followers on TikTok.

“Sources with direct knowledge tell us the Maverick sat down with The Donald at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday for an interview on “Impaulsive” … which came to be after No. 45’s team reached out and requested the meet-up.” – TMZ reported.

Logan Paul posted the following teaser clip from his interview with the President on X:

During the interview, Paul and President Trump discussed a wide range of topics, including his sham criminal trials, illegal immigration and fentanyl, foreign wars, artificial intelligence, and aliens, to name a few.

At one point, President Trump said Biden “couldn’t do this interview.” Trump said, “I’d actually watch that, see how long it lasted,” in response to Logan Paul extending an invite to Joe Biden to come on his podcast.

Watch below:

Trump: We had the biggest fundraising I think ever for any candidate ever anywhere in the world in the last eight or nine days, and hundreds of millions of dollars, and to bad it couldn’t have been done for other reasons, but they viewed the cases being so corrupt and so ridiculous, you know, every one of the legal pundits and, you know, they’re great guys, when you look at Dershowitz, the whole group, you know, that whole group of people, the Andy McCarthy, Jonathan Turley, Greg Jarrett, every one of them, they came out and they said, there’s not even a case here. There’s no case, and when they saw the jury instructions, when they saw all the things that happened, and it’s not like anybody’s a friend of mine, Mark Levin as an example., they couldn’t believe it. So unfair. You know, it’s a very unfair thing. And because of that, the fundraising numbers and the polls with the fundraising— that’s sort of like a poll anyway right, where you get right down to it. But the fundraising numbers went, I don’t think there’s ever been that much money raised that quickly… Hundreds of millions of dollars.

Trump: I ran twice. I did much better the second time than the first time. And if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have done this. But we had it going like this country has never been going before. It was really good, now is really bad. The worst border in history. The worst inflation, I think, in history, I think the history of the country. People are getting decimated by all something you can fix. You can fix it fast. We were energy independent. We were going to be energy dominant very soon. All these things were happening, and then we had a terrible result in an election. And what happened was disgraceful. And we can’t ever let it happen again. But you know, we have a little expression right on that hat: Make America Great Again. And we can do that, Make America Great Again. And this guy is not going to do it. This guy’s destroyed our country. When you allow 15, 16, 17, they have no idea with the gotaways, million people in, coming out of jails, coming out of mental institutions, insane asylums, the insane asylums all over the world and mental institutions. They’re at the lowest levels they’ve been at for years. They’re going to be totally empty. And you have terrorists coming into our country. We’re going to be paying a big price. And we’re going to solve the problem, and we’re going to solve it relatively quickly. But we have other problems too with energy, with inflation, he’s been a disaster as a President. He’s the worst that we’ve ever had. The good news is he makes Jimmy Carter look brilliant by comparison. So, Jimmy Carter is the only one that’s happy with this.

Trump: I think I’d have that war stopped. If I was president elect, right after the election, if I win, I will get that war stopped. I’ll get it stopped fast before I get to Office. If it stunts up before then… I’m talking about Russia and Ukraine. So many people have been killed. Far more people are being killed.

Trump: When I took over, you know, it was drug infested. When I ran in 2016, I ran on the border. And I fixed the border, and I couldn’t even use it a 2020 in the campaign, even though I got millions of more votes than I got the first time, I couldn’t talk about the border because I fixed it, and I’d say to my people “I want to talk about the border.” I was proud of the job we did. We had it fixed. It was really in good shape. And drugs were at the lowest point in years, and you know, not only people, drugs, human trafficking, which is such a horrible thing. You think of it as like an ancient kind of a crime and it’s bigger now than ever before because of the internet. The internet has made a lot of these things much bigger than they have ever been. When you think of human trafficking, mostly in women by the way, most people don’t know that, mostly in women, where they put them into trucks of cars, they have compartments, it’s so horrible. And I had it down to the lowest level just about I guess in recorded times.

Trump: So, what you have to do is you have to be very tough on that. We had a deal on the fentanyl that was pouring through. I bought millions of dollars worth of equipment. Believe it or not, they call it sniffing equipment, but believe it or not, the best thing to find— you can spend millions of dollars on equipment and machinery to find drugs coming through like you know, sort of finds it. The best thing is a German Shepherd born in—. Oh, they’re unbelievable. They go right to it. It’s not even, there’s no machine– You can spend two and a half billion dollars for machinery and the dog is much better. And we literally bred those dogs. It’s a very specific type of German Shepherd from a certain part of the world. It’s the most incredible thing. We worked very, very hard on that. I was with President Xi; it comes from China, and it comes in through the southern border. And I was with President Xi, and I told you, we got along great. You know, the the COVID was a step too far as far as I was concerned, but we got along great. And I said “do you have a drug problem?” He said no they give the death penalty in China, you sell drugs. I said I’d like you to give the death penalty to people that are making fentanyl and sending it over to our country. And he was gonna do that. And then we had the election result. And, of course, Biden never picked up that conversation. I told them about it. But he was gonna give the death penalty. If he did that, you would have had this literally stopped, almost stopped. But we have to be very, very strong at the border. This is really, this is a plague like, and you know the numbers they say, 70,000, 80,000, I think is probably 250 or 300,000. This is like a war. There’s rarely a war. I mean, how many wars where we’re losing 300,000 people a year? And everybody knows a family. I know many families where their children die and they’re not even addicted. They take a pill that’s unrelated and it had a little bit of fentanyl. They say you can take the head of a needle, and you just put a piece on there, and that’s enough to kill like 10 people. It is a really horrible thing. And I would have had China giving the maximum penalty. They would not have been sending it, and I had to deal with that with President Xi, but of course Biden didn’t follow up just like an follow up on the Abraham Accords, which would have been a great thing to do. So, we have to be very tough on the border. And that includes the drugs, as well as people, as well as people not coming in from jails and prisons and you know mental institutions which is happening now at levels that nobody’s ever seen before. It’s crazy. How can it be good? It’s so bad. And I guess they’re either stupid, which they’re not, they hate our country, or they want to get these people for votes. A lot of people think that. That’s the thing, they want to get for votes. But the destruction the damage that Biden’s done to our country by having 16, 17 million people already in, you know, it’s much more than they said, it’s probably 17, I think could be even higher than that, in our country. And these are not people that are going to make America great again, these are people that have a lot of issues. And we’re going to have a lot of issues as long as they’re here. And we’re going to get them out. We have to get them out.

Report: Former Top Contender to be Trump’s VP is Fading Fast – ‘Not a Game-Changer’

Speculation is rampant about who former President Donald Trump might pick to fill the second slot on his ticket for 2024, but one name seems to have fallen a bit from the top spot it once occupied.

Ever since it became obvious that no one on the GOP side could topple Donald Trump from the Republican nomination, the media has turned to who might serve as Trump’s vice presidential running mate.

One candidate who has earned high consideration is South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott, who ran for president himself before dropping out in November of last year.

The 58-year-old senator has been considered one of Trump’s top choices for much of the time since he suspended his campaign, mostly because it was thought that he could bring black votes for the former president.

As recently as May, for instance, Scott ranked very high on the veepstakes list. In polls at the time, Scott led the field by a long distance. The same polls found either Florida Sen. Marco Rubio or businessman Vivek Ramaswamy coming in a distant second.

But Scott’s name may have lost some of its luster. The betting odds, for instance, have Scott sinking to third place, with former Trump Housing Secretary Ben Carson in second and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum now leading the odds.

The New York Post is now saying that Scott’s choice to serve as the GOP’s no. 2 is now “extremely unlikely.”

“You go down the list of reasons to choose a VP, and he isn’t a standout or game-changer in any category,” one Trump campaign insider told the paper.

The same insider also insisted that Scott “might not resonate with the black community in a way that’s worth putting him on the ticket.”

“His star has become less bright, for sure,” another well-connected source told the paper. “Still a top-five pick — but not the strongest.”

On the other hand, Scott has strong qualifications to serve in Trump’s cabinet, so he is not being cast aside, the insider said.

Yet another source added that Scott does not resonate on TV.

Still, Scott is in the top four most commonly cited possibilities, including Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and the previously mentioned Gov. Burgum, who also unsuccessfully ran for president this year.

Others on the list include Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, and Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, along with Carson.

While many tout his name, it might seem unlikely that Florida Sen. Marco Rubio could be under consideration, since he hails from the same state Trump calls home. VPs are generally chosen from another region, with the thought that he or she should bring votes from another part of the country. Rubio also had a very contentious history with Trump when the two were running against each other in 2016. That could serve as a stumbling block for him.

Then there is the senator problem. Senators do not have a very successful history of running for the White House. Most senators who have run for president have lost, and in the past, voters have not considered senators to be reliable executives. Seventeen senators have served as president, but 50 have run for the office since 1972.

With that in mind, past governing experience is a big plus, and that might tend to lead to Burgum as a likely choice.

It has to be noted, though, that those who think they know how Donald Trump makes his decisions are likely fooling themselves.
