Trump Administration Blocks Harvard From Enrolling Foreign Students

On Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security blocked Harvard from enrolling international students, terminating its certification in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. This move represents an action taken by the Trump administration against Harvard in the current battle between the two over on-campus protests.

The move was foreshadowed by an April 16 letter from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

“The United States Government understands that Harvard University relies heavily on foreign student funding from over 10,000 foreign students to build and maintain their substantial endowment,” Noem wrote. “At the same time, your institution has created a hostile learning environment for Jewish students due to Harvard’s failure to condemn antisemitism.”

According to Harvard University’s own data, a quarter of their student body is currently international.

Harvard responded to the DHS’s decision Friday by suing the Trump administration in federal court. The lawsuit stated that international students are crucial for Harvard’s identity:

With the stroke of a pen, the government has sought to erase a quarter of Harvard’s student body, international students who contribute significantly to the university and its mission. Without its international students, Harvard is not Harvard.

In addition to the Trump administration’s complaints of alleged antisemitism at Harvard, the leading conservative activist Chris Rufo has raised concerns that Harvard is discriminating against white men despite the Supreme Court ruling in SFFA v. Harvard, which prohibited the use of affirmative action in university admissions.

US Treasury Confirms the Mint Will Discontinue Production of Pennies by Early Next Year

The United States Mint has placed its final order for penny blanks and will cease production of the coin once this last batch is completed, the Treasury Department confirmed on Thursday.

Currently, it costs approximately 3.69 cents to make a single penny.

President Donald Trump announced in February that he was ordering his administration to end production of the coin, citing government waste.

“For far too long the United States has minted pennies which literally cost us more than 2 cents. This is so wasteful!” Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time. “I have instructed my Secretary of the US Treasury to stop producing new pennies.”

The Associated Press reports:

The U.S. Mint has made its final order of penny blanks and plans to stop producing the coin when those run out, a Treasury Department official confirmed Thursday. This move comes as the cost of making pennies has increased markedly, by upward of 20% in 2024, according to the Treasury.

By stopping the penny’s production, the Treasury expects an immediate annual savings of $56 million in reduced material costs, according to the official, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity to preview the news.

Last year was the 19th year that production costs of both the penny and nickel “remained above face value.”

In 2024, nickels cost 14 cents each to produce.

The Hill reports, “Per the latest U.S. Mint report, it costs less than six cents to make a dime ($0.0576). To make a quarter, it costs about 15 cents ($0.1468), and nearly 34 cents for a half-dollar ($0.3397).”

There are roughly 114 billion pennies in circulation, valued at $1.14 billion. Pennies will remain legal tender after the production halts.

Senators Jeff Merkley, a Democrat, and Mike Lee, a Republican, introduced a bill to kill the penny earlier this year.

“I’m pleased to see the Treasury Department taking a page from my ‘Make Sense, Not Cents Act,’” Lee said in a statement provided to Nexstar about the Treasury’s announcement. “Each penny costs four cents to make, so cutting this waste will save the American taxpayer over $85 million every year.”

“Ending penny production is the right thing to do, but let’s make sure we do it the right way,” Merkley added. “If President Trump is serious about ending this wasteful spending—with each penny costing 4 times more to mint than it’s worth — he should work with Congress to take up necessary legislation, like my bipartisan bill with Senator Mike Lee. It’s time to make sense, not cents.”

President Trump’s Election Executive Order: At Least One State is “Looking at a Paper Ballot Election” – Many More May Have to Follow

On March 25th, President Trump signed Executive Order 14248, Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections.  The Order outlined several requirements under federal law that must be upheld:  ensuring only U.S. citizens can vote, compliance with the Voluntary Voting System Guidelines 2.0 (VVSG), upholding the requirement of the Elections Assistance Commission’s (EAC) certification of voting systems, and amending VVSG 2.0 to require a voter-verifiable ballot.

Expected legal challenges from Democrat Secretaries of State and non-governmental organizations have thus far netted mixed results.  On April 24th, in the consolidated case League of United Latin American Citizens v. Executive Office of the President, US District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly placed a temporary injunction on Sections 2(a) and 2(d), which requires citizenship proof in the national mail voter registration form and requires agencies to “assess citizenship prior to providing” a voter registration form to “enrollees of public assistance programs.”

The judge’s order let stand three sections that allowed unqualified voters to be identified and to restrict counting of ballots to those received on or before Election Day.  All other sections remain in effect.

Section 4(b)(i) of the Order states that “the amended guidelines and other guidance shall provide that voting systems should not use a ballot in which a vote is contained within a barcode or quick-response code in the vote counting process…”  This section will have severe consequences for several states such as Georgia, South Carolina, California, Nevada, Texas, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, and more.

All of those states, in totality or in some part, utilize ballot marking devices (BMD) that store the voter record on either a QR code or a barcode.  For example, according to Verified Voting, Texas only has 12.4% hand-marked paper ballots and 87.5% BMDs.  California has 59.7% hand-marked versus 40.3% BMDs.

South Carolina, home to Senator Lindsey Graham, has 0% hand-marked paper ballots and 100% BMDs.  Georgia, too, is 100% BMDs.

Even worse, Louisiana in its entirety and Nevada almost exclusively (95.6%) use Direct Recording Electronic systems (DRE) which don’t have any physical ballot, but print a paper receipt to ensure you your selections were correctly tabulated.

At least one state is scurrying to figure out how to deal with the Executive Order’s requirements.

Clinton W. Lancaster, an attorney who represented President Trump in the 2020 election challenge and sued Hunter Biden for child support, had reached out to the SOS’s Office to inquire as to how they planned to comply with President Trump’s order.   When his inquiry was not answered, he sent a FOIA request.

In the responsive records, some of emails allude to chaos behind the scenes in Arkansas’s Office of the Secretary of State.  A lobbyist for ES&S wrote the secretary and explained that they would need to purchase Ballot On Demand (BOD) printers from ES&S.  ES&S has a patent on the paper required to use the ES&S tabulators, and only their BOD printer can properly print to that paper.

In an article for Arkansas1st.com, Lancaster wrote:

Kevin Niehaus, Chief of Staff for Secretary Cole Jester, says that he does not think the state can cover the costs of all the needed printers, indicating that the Secretary’s office does not have a sufficient budget appropriation from the recently adjourned 2025 Legislative Session to purchase the BOD printers.

To that, ESS’s lobbyist seemingly admits that there is no viable solution for compliance other than ESS’s proprietary and high-cost BOD printers and that it does not have any other certifiable solution in hand. He asks, “what should ESS be thinking in terms of compliance with the requirements.” The response is telling.

Niehaus says, “at this point I’m not entirely certain. I think we are looking at a paper ballot election in Arkansas next year because there doesn’t seem to be a viable solution from ES&S and nobody is excited about that, especially Cole.”

Georgia has yet to budge despite new state law

In the controversial swing state of Georgia, officials are dragging their feet to implement hand-marked paper ballots, as required in the Order.  But Georgia is double-dipping in their defiance:  the Georgia legislature passed Senate Bill 181 in May of 2024 that required QR codes no longer be used to tabulate votes.

Section 7 of SB181 reads:

The official tabulation count of any ballot scanner shall be based upon the text portion or the machine mark, provided that such mark clearly denotes the elector’s selection and does use a QR code, bar code, or similar coding, of such ballots and not any machine coding that may be printed on such ballots.

But just like the aftermath of Dr. J Alex Halderman’s explosive report and testimony in federal court detailing and demonstrating severe vulnerabilities in the state’s voting system while urging Georgia officials to at least perform security updates, Georgia election officials have ignored that advice, the law, and the executive order.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Brands Trump a Racist ‘Monster’ After DOJ Probes His Anti-White Discrimination (VIDEO)

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has described President Trump as a “monster” for launching a federal investigation against him.

Speaking at a church in Woodlawn, Illinois over the weekend, Johnson said he preferred to hire black people because they are more generous than whites.

This has since led to Department of Justice opening an investigation into Johnson for racial discrimination.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Johnson said that Trump’s investigation was the result of his own racial animus:

As far as, you know, the president’s animus towards women, people of color, working people, we have always known who he has been. This is not a surprise. He’s a monster.

We have the most diverse administration in the history of Chicago, and he is threatened by that.

You can tell when someone is fearful is because they act out. We have a president that is screaming and having tantrums right now because we have an administration that reflects the city of Chicago, but he would much rather have administrations that reflect the country club. Period.

He is most comfortable around people who think and look like him.

During his appearance at the church this weekend, Johnson boasted about how black people filled the most important positions across his office:

There are detractors that will push back on me and say, you know, the only thing that the mayor talks about is the hiring of black people.

No, what I’m saying is, when you hire our people, we always look out for everybody else. We are the most generous people on the planet.

I don’t know too many cultures that have play cousins. That’s how generous we are. We just make somebody a family member, right? This is how we are.

So, Business and Economic Neighborhood Development, the deputy mayor, is a black woman. Department of Planning and Development is a black woman. Infrastructure, deputy mayor, is a black woman. Chief Operations Officer is a black man. Budget Director is a black woman. Senior Advisor is a black man.

In her letter to Johnson, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon asked for an explanation about his broader hiring practices.

“If these kind of hiring decisions are being made for top-level positions in your administration, then it begs the question whether such decisions are also being made for lower-level positions,” Dhillon wrote.

EU Parliamentarian Petr Bystron Delivers Powerful Speech in Brussels in Defense of President Donald Trump and His Pro-American Agenda (VIDEO)

EU Parliamentarian Petr Bystron delivers powerful speech in Brussels in defense of President Trump’s positions.

Petr Bystron is a member of the European Parliament from Germany.

Peter comes from the conservative AfD Party and represents Germany in Brussels.

Petr has been violently stalked and threatened by far-left Antifa goons in Germany. He does not let it slow him down. He is courageous and confident in his positions.

This week Petr Bystron spoke to the EU Parliament about the greatness of President Donald Trump’s popular agenda to “Make America Great Again.”

EU Parliamentarian Petr Bystron from Germany: Dear colleagues, “Make America Great Again,” is clearly a challenge to the world, to the EU, to Europe. Why? The American president looks after Americans. Surprisem Surprise! He wants jobs in the United States. He wants prosperity to return to the United States. He aims to bring industry back to the United States.

And what do I hear here? Trump, Trump, Trump! One man is enough to throw the European Union and Parliament into chaos!

Colleagues instead of complaining about Trump, you old parties should ask, “What have you done? When did you last fight for your voters like Trump does for his Americans?

This question is valid as Trump’s reaction is a logical result of recent decades. Jobs have not just moved out of the US but from Europe to low-wage countries. And our people, our workers felt this like the Americans. First in steel, then in electronics, automotive and now even our farmers are affected.

How should we respond? Do we want to enter a trade war? Should we react by artificially increasing import prices?

Of course not! We need free trade! We want free trade! And Europe – not the EU but Europe, can take on this competition! We have a better educated workforce. We have innovative industry. We have raw materials on this continent. We can face this competition but we must break the chains holding us back. We must end the Green Deal, lower taxes and dismantle the Brussels bureaucracy. Afuera – that’s the motto of our time. And then our motto can be: “Make Europe Great Again!” Thank you!

(Applause)

That was a brave speech for a lawmaker to deliver to the EU parliament in Brussels.

Georgia Elections: 74% VOTING SYSTEM ERROR- Saved By Hand Count!

Guest post by Garland Favorito at VoterGA in Georgia.

Candidates in Georgia discovered the voting machines were off by as much as 74% in a Georgia 2024 race.

In this VIDEO clip, DeKalb Board of Elections Attorney, Brent Herrin explains to the State Election Board that: “…TABULATING MACHINES WERE NOT ACCURATE. A decision by the board was made to do a HAND RECOUNT to ensure accurate results of the election,” Keisha Smith, DeKalb Elections Director, nods her head repeatedly in agreement. Duh! Isn’t that what we have been saying for 20+ years? Georgia’s Dominion voting system declared the wrong winners for the May 22, 2024 DeKalb Co. District 2 Commission primary. It only became known because a candidate received no votes in the precinct where she and her husband lived and voted. When she reported the problem to the DeKalb Election Board, they ordered a machine recount that produced the same results again. They then conducted a hand count of the race that proved the voting system shorted the candidate 3049 of her actual 4078 votes, over 74% of her total votes. The system gave 1456 of her votes to one of her opponents and failed to count another 1805 of her votes. The July 15, 2022 DeKalb Co. Election Board materials attributed the massive miscount to a complex ballot alignment error after one candidate withdrew from the race. However, no one has ever been willing to explain why the system failed to count 1805 votes.

So what really happened?

Logic and accuracy testing obviously did not catch the error (we told you it is unreliable);

There were a combination of problems due to candidate withdrawal, restricting changes, inadequate testing and unhelpful instructions from the SOS office;

We now know the SOS office told DeKalb to disable the counting of one candidates votes which did not resolve the issue and complicated the problem even further;

We also know that Georgia still suffers from the QR Code Signature Mismatch Error that caused entire ballots to be rejected in Tennessee;

The Tennessee SOS recommended discontinuing the use of the nearly identical Dominion Democracy Suite 5.5 system we use in Georgia.

But what if the candidate received zero votes in her own precinct? How many times has this happened without detection? We will never know. This is a national security issue.

That is why we need to UNPLUG VOTING SYSTEMS throughout America and replace them with publicly recorded hand counts. No secret counts, no disputes, no machine errors. Just honest, accurate results.

Cities nationwide are quietly deploying facial recognition technology to track your every move

Guest post by Leo Hohmann – republished with permission.

Police in cities across America want to deploy AI-driven facial-recognition technology that’s capable of tracking and identifying every human being who enters public spaces in real time.

Even politicians in some cities are calling for a pause or outright banishment of this technology from ever getting into the hands of cops. But the battle is shaping up to be a big one in cities nationwide, and if I was a betting man I would put my money on the technocrats and the cops. They will likely win out over the few politicians and taxpaying citizens who are concerned about privacy and civil liberties. They almost always do. They have the money and the media propaganda machine on their side.

According to an article in Biometric Update, two-thirds of Milwaukee’s city council says no, they don’t want this technology given to cops. An article in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says 11 of 15 city alderpersons signed a letter opposing use of the facial recognition technology by the Milwaukee Police Department, citing concerns about bias, ethics and potential overreach.

Below is an excerpt from the article in Biometric Update, and notice the rationale — it’s always the same whenever technocrats are involved: Safety, speed and efficiency.

Milwaukee police currently don’t have a facial recognition system — but they want one, and have tested the technology. They say it makes solving crimes faster, and “can be done with the appropriate parameters in place to ensure that the use will not violate individual civil rights.” They say it would not be, and had never been, used as exclusively as probable cause to arrest someone. They have pledged to engage in public consultation as part of any formal acquisition process.

Nonetheless, the Council’s letter, written “in strong opposition to the deployment of facial recognition technology by the Milwaukee Police Department,” says that “while we understand the desire to enhance public safety and the promises people have made for this emerging technology, we believe these benefits are significantly outweighed by the risks.”

The article goes on to note that the council’s letter “names potential overreach by the administration of President Donald Trump as a risk factor, as well as studies showing that the majority of facial-recognition algorithms are more likely to misidentify people with darker skin, women and the elderly.

How absurdly shortsighted that their major concern is Trump using this technology. This suggests they’d be perfectly fine with facial-recognition being deployed if we just had a different person in the White House, someone with a “D” in front of their name like Gavin Newsom or Kamala Harris.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin has asked the Milwaukee Council to adopt a two-year pause on any new surveillance technology across city services, including police.

But this issue is coming to the fore not just in Milwaukee.

Another city where it’s suddenly up for debate is New Orleans, where Project NOLA is being considered for use by police. Project NOLA is a nonprofit that manages a nationwide crime camera network for police. A hearing is set to determine whether Project NOLA’s facial-recognition integration should be banned, regulated or brought under New Orleans’ municipal authority.

New Orleans police say they are continuing to use Project NOLA, but have paused the receipt of real-time, AI-generated facial recognition alerts.

WHAT’S THE REAL ISSUE HERE?

What we are really dealing with here are powerful and very wealthy technocrats pressuring municipalities worldwide to become Smart Cities. Let’s face it, most members of city councils are not the sharpest people in their community. They have absolutely zero knowledge of where AI and the surveillance state is taking us, nor do they care to educate themselves. They think it’s sexy and cool to purchase and activate the latest surveillance technology, and don’t realize they are playing right into the hands of the elitists at the United Nations, World Economic Forum and other globalist organizations seeking total control over human movement and overall human behavior.

Smart Cities Dive recently published its list of the Top 10 most rapidly developing Smart Cities in America for 2025. Atlanta tops the list, followed by Boston, San Fransisco, Washington, DC, Chicago and Seattle. The list is rounded out by Miami, New York City, Los Angeles and San Jose.

The next stage is to become a 15-minute city. A 15-minute city is just a weaponized Smart City, where authorities weaponize the surveillance technology they’ve already installed and finally admit it’s no longer being used just for our “safety” but to enforce their radical climate agenda and other nefarious agendas related to controlling our behavior.

Facial-recognition scanners combined with vehicle license-plate scanners will allow law enforcement to track the movement of everyone, whether on foot, on a bicycle, on a subway, or in a vehicle. Do we really want to live in an Orwellian society?

While some cities like Milwaukee and New Orleans are publicly grappling with whether to deploy this technology, it’s quietly being implemented in city after city, regardless of size, often with federal funding. Is your city surrepticiously tracking your vehicle and scanning your face everywhere you go within its jurisdiction? You should find out, and make a public issue out of it.

Disney, ABC News Bosses Gave ‘The View’ Co-Hosts a Trump Directive That They Hate: Report

One of the most enduring characteristics of the modern iteration of ABC talk show “The View” — the show’s complete and naked contempt for President Donald Trump — is under fire.

And it’s not just coming from conservative supporters of Trump.

It’s coming from the heads of ABC and ABC’s parent company, Disney.

According to the Daily Beast, Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic are two such voices providing pushback to “The View” and its barrage of anti-Trump coverage.

Karamehmedovic, specifically, met with “The View” executive producer Brian Teta, and strongly suggested — it’s not an edict, as the report notes — the show needs to broaden its topic coverage outside the political sphere.

He apparently pointed to several celebrity-focused episodes that “rated” well.

The co-hosts of the show apparently didn’t take the suggestion of doing this very well, and strongly resisted.

“Ultimately, the women found the requests ‘silly’ and that ‘they were just going to keep doing their thing,’” the Beast reported.

Iger, meanwhile, personally told “The View” co-host Ana Navarro that, while he appreciated the show, he agreed with Karamehmedovic that the show needed to cool down its heated political rhetoric.

Navarro had originally gone to Iger to thank him for letting the hosts continue to have free rein over the show.

Iger’s response, as noted by sources, confirmed that Karamehmedovic’s feelings were shared at the very top of the company, as well.

It’s clear that the directive given by company brass has largely been ignored by the show.

As of this writing, the most recent episode — since made private, but re-posted multiple times on social media — featured a lengthy section on how Trump shared “false” claims about white genocide in South Africa.

The View is denying that white farmers are being targeted for death in South Africa.
Sara Haines calls it “false conspiracy theories.” She downplays the murders, arguing: “1,363 white farmers murdered since 1990, which is an average of 40 a year. Far less than 1% of total… pic.twitter.com/tFrAtN8O7t

— Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) May 22, 2025

“The View,” has been around since 1997, but it hasn’t always been the deeply political show it’s now known to be.

In fact, even some former co-hosts have lambasted the show for some of its more unsavory coverage of world events.

Even beyond politics, the show’s insistence on making everything a racist or sexist issue has also gotten the show into trouble with viewers and critics.

(And the law, on occasion.)

Interestingly, this is hardly the first report of its kind in the months since Trump won re-election.

Shortly after the Nov. 5, 2024, general election, the New York Post reported that ABC executives were in a “panic,” and pushing for “The View” to be less antagonistic to the newly re-elected president.

Nicaragua’s Dictator Duo Ortega and Murillo Approve Law Stripping Dual Citizens of Nationality in Ruthless Crackdown on Exiles and Dissidents

The Sandinista dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo — a duo that seems straight out of an authoritarian soap opera — approved a constitutional reform on Friday eliminating dual nationality.

Nicaraguans who acquire another citizenship will lose their own, in a new blow meant to suffocate opponents and critics, according to the regime’s puppet National Assembly.

In a “special session” held in Niquinohomo, the Assembly — as independent as a parrot in a cage — unanimously approved the reform of articles 23 and 25 of the Constitution. The initiative, of course, came directly from the offices of Ortega and Murillo, who never miss a chance to tighten the chains around the Nicaraguan people.

https://twitter.com/itsbuddhadebpan/status/1923691003464298593

This measure is not an isolated whim. It is the latest chapter in a crusade to strip identity from those who dare to challenge the regime.

In recent years, hundreds of opponents, journalists, and activists have been exiled and denationalized — turned into stateless persons for daring to dream of freedom.

The reform establishes that acquiring another nationality will be enough to lose Nicaraguan citizenship. A punishment that, ironically, does not apply to loyal Sandinistas, who will surely find legal loopholes to evade the rule. That’s how “justice” works in Ortega-Murillo’s Nicaragua.

The motive behind this maneuver is clear. Since the 2018 protests, which left over 300 dead according to the IACHR, the regime has intensified its repression.

Exiling dissidents is no longer enough; now they want to erase their connection to the homeland — a revenge as cruel as it is symbolic.

The National Assembly, reduced to an echo chamber for presidential orders, celebrated the reform on X as if it were a historic achievement. But the world is not fooled: this is one more step toward consolidating a dictatorship that despises freedom and human dignity.

This isn’t the first time Sandinismo has shown its true face. Ortega, once a revolutionary hero, and Murillo, his inseparable co-dictator, have turned Nicaragua into a fiefdom where dissent is a crime and democracy, a distant memory.

The international community has condemned these actions. Organizations like the OAS have pointed out that the regime systematically violates human rights. However, Ortega and Murillo appear immune to criticism, entrenched in their bubble of power.

For Nicaraguans in exile, this reform is yet another blow. Losing their nationality doesn’t just take away a document; it tears away a piece of their identity — a punishment designed to humiliate and silence them.

Meanwhile, the regime continues to peddle its narrative of “sovereignty” and “anti-imperialism.” But behind the leftist rhetoric lies one truth: today’s Sandinismo is a machine of oppression that betrays the very ideals it once claimed to defend.

In times like these, conservative values shine bright. The defense of individual liberty, respect for national identity, and the fight for democracy are non-negotiable principles.

In the face of tyrannies like Ortega and Murillo’s, the right must raise its voice — not only to condemn but to inspire a future where human dignity triumphs over authoritarianism.

Nicaragua deserves more than a regime that punishes its children for dreaming of a free country. Hope lies in those, both inside and outside, who do not give up. Because even if they are stripped of their citizenship, their love for their homeland can never be taken away.

The Gen Z Right Is Pat Buchanan’s Lasting Legacy

The Gen Z Right Is Pat Buchanan’s Lasting Legacy

A new culture of realism has prevailed among American youth, and it may finally put to rest the conservative status quo.

Credit: Steve Liss/ gettyimages

On December 2, 2023, in the modest gymnasium of a community college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, President Donald Trump addressed a raucous crowd of supporters. As he spoke about the enduring force of the movement he ignited in 2015, he paused to reflect on a man many had forgotten—but whose ideas are increasingly animating the rising generation of conservatives.

“You know there was a man, Pat Buchanan, a good guy, a conservative guy,” Trump began.

A sudden, collective cheer erupted from the left side of the stage—unmistakably youthful, unexpected in tone. “Wow! Young people, they know him,” Trump responded with a mix of surprise and amusement.

The cheering came from a group of College Republicans—mostly young Midwestern men. They represented more than just campus enthusiasm. They were the surface current of a deeper, surging tide within the American right: a generation of young conservatives who have not merely rejected progressive orthodoxy, but who have turned their backs on the neutered, market-centric consensus that long dominated Republican politics.

Their affinities lie not with Reaganite optimism or Bush-era globalism, but with the sobering, culture-first realism of Pat Buchanan. These are the heirs to the original Buchanan Brigade, animated by a blend of cultural traditionalism, economic nationalism, and a deep-seated skepticism toward America’s post–Cold War trajectory. They’re not interested in conserving the status quo. They want to recover something lost.

Three developments define the social fabric of 21st-century America: the triumph of multiculturalism, the commodification of the consumer, and the cultural conquest of the Left. For decades, neither major party offered a meaningful response. Democrats embraced the transformation; Republicans timidly adjusted to it. In the 1990s, Buchanan was virtually alone in warning that the West was in decline—culturally, spiritually, and economically. The relative prosperity and comfort of the ’90s muffled his prophecy, and few listened.

Then came the Great Recession. For millions of Americans, it was more than an economic downturn—it was the unveiling of a deeper, festering crisis. Young people, in particular, felt it viscerally. The America they inherited no longer resembled the country celebrated in their parents’ stories or history books. The economy seemed rigged, the culture foreign, and the future grim.

By the time Donald Trump descended the escalator in 2015, a vanguard of young men had already begun rejecting the stale dogmas of Conservatism, Inc. They were the ideological foot soldiers of Trump’s first campaign—angry, disillusioned, and increasingly well-read. What started as a populist rebellion quickly matured into something more coherent.

Tax cuts and platitudes about the Constitution no longer sufficed. Legal immigration was no longer seen as harmless. Endless foreign aid and wars of choice were now understood as betrayals—not of international obligations, but of national ones. The refrain “Democrats are the real racists” gave way to “Stop playing by the Left’s rules.” Conservatism, these young rebels concluded, should not exist to preserve the wreckage of liberalism—it should stand to restore greatness.

It is no surprise, then, that Buchanan’s The Death of the West has become a sacred text among this emerging young right. In an era when most of their peers don’t read, these young conservatives have made it required reading. It has even shaped elected officials. The third-youngest vice president in U.S. history—himself a product of the Midwestern populist realignment—publicly cited Buchanan’s work as formative in 2021 during an interview with David Freiheit.

This revival of Buchananite thought has unnerved many in the conservative establishment. The backlash has come not just from the left, but from within the right—from those who seek to redefine conservatism as a more polite version of liberalism. Joel Berry of The Babylon Bee, for example, dismissed the “Pat Buchanan Right” as radicals, himself seemingly more comfortable cracking Reagan-inflected jokes than grappling with the real challenges faced by today’s young workers, parents, and future homeowners.

But the old consensus is crumbling. The new generation doesn’t want talking points; they want answers. They see through the empty gestures of conservative influencers who quote the Founders one minute and promote materialism the next. The polite right has had its time—and failed.

While Trump may be the most visible beneficiary of Buchanan’s intellectual legacy, the future belongs to those young men and women now entering the institutions of politics, media, and civic life.
