In a fiery appearance on CNN’s State of the Union with host Dana Bash on Sunday, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. got into a tense shouting match with Bash over the COVID-19 vaccine.
Before Bash started screaming at RFK, he schooled her on what went wrong in the COVID-19 response and how the government unconstitutionally censored Americans, arguing that the “number one priority” for a future pandemic would be to protect the rights of citizens. “That is the number one priority. We protect the Constitution,” he said, accusing Bash of being “part of the problem” and committing “absolute press malpractice.”
“Your job is a fierce skepticism toward authority, and you weren’t doing that. You were beating up on people who were dissenting,” he continued, as Bash objected.

Then, things got worse for Bash when the HHS Secretary began pressing her, asking, “Do you think the COVID vaccine protected children?”
As Bash tried to stutter about how she’s “talked to scientists and doctors,” RFK chimed in again, saying, “Can you show me one study that shows children were protected by the COVID vaccine?” He continued, talking over her, claiming she can show him the study, “That vaccine did more good than harm to children. Can you show me one study that shows that?”
Then Bash, in typical CNN fashion, began droning on about so-called “vaccine disinformation,” claiming that hundreds of thousands of lives were lost as a result. “I can tell you that when it comes to the vaccine, there have been studies that show that because of vaccine disinformation, disinformation, there could have been 100 to 200,000 lives in the U.S. saved. But because people didn’t get the vaccine,” she claimed. When RFK interrupted, Bash shouted, “Let me finish!”
“You are saying nonsense. You are saying something that you cannot show me a single study,” RFK said.
“I am not saying nonsense,” she replied as RFK added, “You are talking what somebody told you… cite me the study. What study?”
Bash was clearly enraged, shouting over RFK and asserting, “What studies are you talking about? You’re talking about studies that actually don’t exist.” However, she refused to provide any evidence of her own claims as RFK continued demanding evidence of the studies she claimed she had.
“This is not productive. I am not here to defend all of the practices,” Bash said, and RFK fired back, “You want to talk about assertions that you can’t support? I’ll get there in a second. Let me just say, for the record, that I am not saying that the entire way that the COVID reaction was accurate. It was a scary time, and people made mistakes. Absolutely,” Bash stammered.
“You were scaring people,” RFK said as Bash lost control. “Because that was the job of CNN to put the chyrons up about how many people are dying.”
Bash then yelled at RFK again, “We were trying to be. We were listening to the leaders. in this country, including the president who had a daily press conference explaining what was going on and trying to listen.”
“Were you reading the science yourself?” RFK fired back as Bash desperately tried to change the subject.
