CDC Deputy Director Dr. Jennifer Shuford on Tuesday announced that she will be departing her role on November 12.
President Trump in April announced new leadership for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In April, the President nominated Dr. Erica Schwartz as the new CDC Director, Sean Slovenski as the CDC Deputy Director and Dr. Jennifer Shuford as the CDC Deputy Director.
Dr. Schwartz was confirmed by the Senate over the summer.
Dr. Jennifer Shuford, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) deputy director and chief medical officer, is leaving the agency after just four months on the job.
Shuford, an infectious disease physician, was a former Texas health commissioner. She was appointed in April as part of a leadership team to support director Erica Schwartz, along with Sean Slovenski as CDC’s chief operating officer.
Shuford will stay on until just after the midterm elections. Her last day at CDC will be Nov. 12, the agency said.
“I am leaving to spend more time with my family. I am so thankful to President Trump and Secretary Kennedy for giving me the opportunity to help lead CDC. It has been an amazing experience and I will be forever grateful for it,” Shuford said in a statement.
Satish Pillai, a career public health official, will serve as the agency’s acting deputy director and chief medical officer while the CDC looks for a permanent replacement. CDC said it will “initiate the process of identifying a permanent successor in the near future.”
Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia’s Arsi area, Oromia region, have faced repeated attacks. Photo: file/SM.
At least 60 Orthodox Christians were killed in two attacks in central Ethiopia’s Oromia region over the past week, according to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. The church reported that 14 people were killed in Merti district on October 20 and another 46 in Shirka district on October 24. More than 20 people were seriously injured, and 20 homes were burned down.
Witnesses told Vatican News that attackers in Shirka went house to house, killing residents with guns and knives. The dead included children and elderly people. One church was damaged, while churches in neighboring villages sheltered survivors.
Both districts are in the Muslim-majority Arsi area. Ethiopia’s 2007 census put Arsi Zone’s population at about 58 percent Muslim, 40 percent Orthodox Christian, and 1.4 percent Protestant. Merti district was about 61 percent Muslim and 38 percent Orthodox. Nationally, figures cited by Religion News Service in 2021 put Christians at about 64 percent of Ethiopia’s population, including roughly 40 percent who were Orthodox.
Ethnically, Arsi Zone was about 83 percent Oromo and 15 percent Amhara in the census. Earlier victims included members of the predominantly Orthodox Christian Amhara community, according to the ECLJ, the European Centre for Law and Justice.
According to diocesan reports submitted to the Holy Synod, those killed in October came from rural farming communities. At its October 26 assembly in Addis Ababa, the Synod condemned the killings as a “reprehensible, inhumane deed” and urged authorities to prosecute the attackers and deploy security forces to protect vulnerable communities. It also said it would seek talks with senior government officials.
The bishops described the massacres as part of an escalating pattern of targeted violence against Orthodox Christians in Arsi and elsewhere in Ethiopia.
The Oromia regional government blamed the attacks on the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), an ethnic-nationalist insurgent group seeking greater autonomy and recognition of Oromo identity. Formerly the armed wing of the Oromo Liberation Front, the OLA split from the political party in 2018 after refusing to disarm and has fought the government since then. Ethiopia’s parliament designated the group a terrorist organization in May 2021 under the name “Shene.”
Regional spokesperson Hailu Adugna accused the OLA and its allies of provoking ethnic and religious conflict to divert attention from military losses in northern Ethiopia. Its commander, Kumsa Diriba, known as Jaal Marroo, denied that his fighters target civilians in an Associated Press interview published in February.
In September, the OLA and six other opposition groups announced the Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces Coalition for Survival, seeking to remove Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government and establish a transitional administration. Members include the Tigray People’s Liberation Front and the Amhara Fano National Movement.
The October massacres follow years of violence against Christian communities, with accusations directed at both insurgents and security forces. In February 2023, during a dispute over a breakaway Oromia synod, regional special forces were accused of firing on worshippers defending St. Michael Church in Shashamene. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission later reported eight deaths.
After 36 people were killed in Shirka that November, regional authorities blamed the OLA, while its spokesman, Odaa Tarbii, blamed government forces. That December, the commission linked human rights violations in Arsi to OLA attacks.
Earlier this year, the commission warned that violence had escalated since October 2025. In March, the Vatican’s Fides news agency reported that 34 Orthodox Christians had recently been killed, including 26 in Shirka and four in Merti.
Following the February killings, Ethiopia’s Orthodox Church, Inter-Religious Council, and Islamic Affairs Supreme Council warned against attempts to incite religious or ethnic conflict. The OLA blamed “mercenaries” for deliberately targeting Orthodox civilians. Ethiopia’s Catholic bishops demanded government protection in March.
Catholic communities have also suffered attacks, including killings and destruction of property near a parish in Oromia in October 2025.
Coordinated attacks between May 30 and June 1 killed at least 37 more Orthodox Christians and burned churches, according to the ECLJ.
A broader investigation by the Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO), reported in July, documented at least 432 civilians and four local militia members killed across East Arsi between the Ethiopian calendar year corresponding to 2021–2022 and June 1, 2026. This was a cumulative count covering several years, rather than an additional death toll. The council said Orthodox Christians were the principal victims.
Relatives in Shirka described armed men entering villages at night and selecting Orthodox Christians for abduction. In Jeju, 182 captives were released after ransom payments. At the time of the report, 39 abductees from Shirka and two from Munisa remained missing, along with others elsewhere.
EHRCO also reported that attackers looted and burned the 101-year-old Teleta Chefa Saint Gabriel Church. The violence displaced 14,415 people, including 3,746 from Shirka and 1,036 from Merti. The council urged federal intervention if regional authorities could not restore security and protect civilians.
Across Oromia, civilians also face abuses by other armed groups, criminal gangs, and government forces. U.N. investigators have accused the OLA of killings, rapes, and kidnappings, while human rights monitors have documented indiscriminate drone strikes, extrajudicial killings, and disappearances by government forces.
A reporter for FOX News recently asked some college students to describe what they think socialism is and how it works. The results are a little depressing but it’s important to see this.
This is video proof that colleges are brainwashing students to think socialism is something that it isn’t. These students think it’s all about fairness and taking care of people. A brief glance at actual history shows nothing could be further from the truth.
If you have wondered why so many young people are open to socialism, this explains why.
In an interview with Fox News, an American university student explained that she had learned in a government class that socialism amounts to little more than social democracy, or, in her words, the government spending more money to help others. Never mind government control over the means of production, the replacement of individual ownership with collective ownership, or the subordination of productivity to a government-defined “common good.”
“Socialism doesn’t mean like anti-capitalism. Based off what I learned in my gov class, it’s basically like spending more money on helping society,” the University of Michigan student told Fox News. “Socialism to me is a concept in politics where everybody gets a little bit of everything. Everybody benefits and everybody is really taking care of kind of that social net that you see in other types of politics. I think a lot of people get the economic system of socialism confused with the government system of communism.”
In other words, according to this student, socialism is little more than compassion made manifest. And while people will be quick to blame her for being ignorant, the deeper failure lies with American education, and with professors more interested in turning their worldview into political reality than teaching students what these systems actually mean.
See the video below:
WILD: University of Michigan students PROVE just how STUPID and BRAINWASHED they truly are when they were asked to define what socialism is, while a Fox poll shows nearly half of young Americans still view it favorably.
The polls closed in Israel’s general election Tuesday evening, following the highest turnout in decades. Although official results won’t be known for several days, exit poll results released just after voting ended suggest that neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor his opponents secured control of the Knesset, Israel’s legislature. Sixty-one seats are needed for a majority; according to the early polls, the anti-Netanyahu bloc—which encompasses four separate political groupings, including the prominent opposition figure Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party—won 52 seats, while Netanyahu’s coalition—which includes his Likud party, as well as four smaller parties—won 50. The two largest Arab parties, which oppose Netanyahu but are often excluded from coalitions by Jewish parties, together won 18 seats.
Once the results of the election are finalized, Israeli President Isaac Herzog will task whichever lawmaker he deems most suitable with forming a government (Netanyahu and Eisenkot are widely seen as the most viable candidates). If the early polls are accurate, several outcomes are possible, including a minority government, a coalition between the anti-Netanyahu parties and the Arab parties, a unity coalition encompassing both the pro- and anti-Netanyahu blocs (or some elements thereof), or, if forming a government proves impossible, another election.
Fox’s Lucas Tomlinson speaks to Trump supporter in Corpus Christi, Texas
Fox News reporter Lucas Tomlinson had an embarrassing moment during a live interview outside of Trump’s midterm rally in Corpus Christi, Texas, when a Trump supporter called out Fox News for pushing RINO propaganda.
Tomlinson asked the supporter, identified as Roy, “President Trump won this state by about 14 points two years ago. Why is the Senate race so close?”
“I think that because of the media that is putting out all this misinformation,” Roy responded, as Tomlinson interrupted, “Not Fox News.”
“Uhh, maybe,” Roy politely said, laughing. Tomlinson awkwardly tried to recover, saying, “Okay, let’s keep it going.”
Roy went on to call Republican Texas Attorney General and Senate Nominee Ken Paxton a “straight shooter” and commended him for fighting “for us.”
Conversely, Democrat James Talarico, he said, is “for the trans, the mutilation of young kids, defunding the police, and so on.”
“There has to be law and order in this state and this country,” Roy added.

Trump shared the clip on Truth Social:
The Gateway Pundit has previously reported on Tomlinson’s arguably leftwing coverage of Trump rallies.
Last week in Iowa, Tomlinson tried his regular routine on an Iowa farmer, attempting to press him on why he supports Trump, and the farmer schooled him.
Mike Waltz shows photo of Fidel Castro wearing two Rolex watches during UN meeting
UN Ambassador Mike Waltz got into a near-physical confrontation while speaking at the UN General Assembly hall in New York on Tuesday.
As Waltz was calling out Cuba’s Communist leaders, the Cuban foreign minister interrupted and approached Waltz, saying, “I appeal to you, and I’ll ask everyone.”
Waltz snapped, “And I’m the representative of the United States of America! Back up! Back up, Ambassador! Back away.”
“You are not going to intimidate me. Do you understand who you’re dealing with?” Waltz continued.
“This is America. Back up. The rule is clear. This is the substance of the speech. There are no procedural— You can bring as many people as you want. Please sit down. Sit down.”
WATCH:
The heated confrontation came after Waltz shredded Cuban Communists for leaving their country in squalor as they enjoy lives of riches.
Waltz had called out the Communist leaders for profiting off of their people and showing a photo of Fidel Castro wearing two Rolex watches.
“You’re looking at the great revolutionary, what’s on his wrist worth $40,000 in today’s money,” Waltz said while flashing the photo. “According to the regime’s own statistics, that would pay for 55 years of an average Cuban wage.”
“It didn’t just start with Castro. This is the current Cuban president, also with a Rolex on,” he added, flashing another photo, this time of Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Waltz called out the Havana government for profiting off of the forced labor of its own citizens sent to concentration camps while using confiscated “businesses, farms, factories, homes and the savings of generations of hardworking Cubans” to line the pockets of its leaders.
As Waltz spoke, Cuba’s delegation banged on the table near their seats to express disapproval before Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla charged toward the rostrum and accused Waltz of lying, causing the US envoy to shout: “Back up!”
“He doesn’t like hard truths,” Waltz told the delegates. “You can come and intimidate all you want.”
“He’s not going to intimidate me in the United States of America — like he tries to intimidate political prisoners,” said Waltz, raising his voice at Parrilla as UN officials tried to restore order.
A grand jury declined to indict January 6 star witness Cassidy Hutchinson, the Washington Post reported.
Breaking news: A grand jury rejected the DOJ’s attempt to indict former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson for the account she gave lawmakers of President Trump’s actions during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to people familiar with the matter. https://t.co/kwOJ22r1gG
The Justice Department sought to indict January 6 ‘star witness’ Cassidy Hutchinson for lying to Congress.
Earlier this year it was reported that the DOJ launched an investigation into Hutchinson.
The DOJ’s Civil Rights Division presented evidence to a federal grand jury last week. Hutchinson has not been subpoenaed yet.
Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Harmeet Dhillon is spearheading the investigation.
Cassidy Hutchinson testified in June 2022 that Trump got into “the beast” after his speech at the Ellipse on January 6 with the belief that he would be driven to the Capitol.
According to Hutchinson, who received this information from Tony Ornato, the Assistant Director for the Secret Service, Trump grew angry after he was informed that he was being driven back to the West Wing.
According to Ornato, Trump shouted, “I’m the f*cking president! Take me up to the Capitol now!”
Hutchinson alleged that at this point, Trump reached up to the driver, grabbed the steering wheel, and tried to commandeer the presidential limo.
Hutchinson then claimed Secret Service Agent Bobby Engel grabbed Trump’s arm and took his hand off the steering wheel.
Of course, this was all a lie.
The House oversight subcommittee, headed by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), later found that unreleased testimony by four White House employees present for Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021, speech at the Ellipse “directly contradicted claims made by Cassidy Hutchinson. She made it all up. The woman should be hauled into court!
Later reports found that Liz Cheney coached Cassidy Hutchinson before her testimony. Another crime.
The Gateway Pundit compiled a list of Cassidy Hutchinson’s 9 confirmed lies from her debunked congressional testimony.
The two former senior FBI officials who were arrested and charged with lying to Congress about their involvement in the Hunter Biden investigation were hit with new charges on Tuesday – but a far-left magistrate judge tossed out the new charges.
Nikki Cole Floris, 46, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Bradley Benavides, 56, of Aiken, South Carolina, were taken into custody and charged with making false statements about the Hunter Biden laptop investigation last week.
Floris also privately boasted about “running a shadow government” during the 2020 election.
“Evidence shows that Floris discussed the FBI’s investigations into Hunter Biden routinely for more than a year both within the FITF and with others in the FBI. Contrary to his assertion that he learned of the Hunter Biden laptop from Wikipedia, Benavides regularly discussed the laptop with FBI officials in the leadup to the 2020 election,” the DOJ said.
Floris and Benavides both falsely testified that the FBI Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) was not involved in the Hunter Biden laptop investigation.
On Tuesday, federal prosecutors, in an unsigned superseding complaint, charged Floris and Benavides with obstructing a congressional proceeding.
However, far-left Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui fumed as he tossed out the charges after the Justice Department filed an unsworn and unsigned superseding complaint.
“We have never had complaints filed that are unsigned,” Faruqui said, according to CBS News. “It is inappropriate. It harms the defendants.”
“I am unaware of that ever happening before in this court,” he added. “I am frustrated that I got it in the middle of the night. But I am much more concerned that it is filed on the public record.”
A federal magistrate judge on Tuesday rejected the Justice Department’s 11th hour attempt to file new criminal charges against two former FBI counterintelligence officials, saying prosecutors could not take that step without judicial review first.
In a tense exchange, Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia expressed shock and anger at the Justice Department for filing an unsworn and unsigned superseding complaint against the two FBI officials after midnight on Tuesday on the public court docket, noting it was never reviewed by him to establish where there was probable cause a crime was committed.
Filing an unsworn complaint on the public docket and bypassing judicial review, he said, is unheard of and raises questions about the DOJ’s motivations. He said he would be ordering that the new version of the charging documents be “struck from the record,” though the Justice Department could try to add new charges the proper way.

The credit card statement lies open on the kitchen table, next to your reading glasses and a cup of coffee.
You run your finger down the page to the line that says “Interest Charge.” It’s a lot. Then you find the balance still due. It barely moved.
You paid on time. You paid what they asked. The balance barely moved.
Where Your Payment Really Goes
Here is an example. Say you owe $6,500 on a card that charges 23% APR.
Your minimum payment due on that statement would be about $190. Because many card companies set the minimum at 1% of the balance plus that month’s interest.
If you send only the minimum, about $125 of it is used to pay the interest. Only about $65 touches what you actually owe.
That is about two out of every three dollars going to interest. Gone before your balance gets its turn.
You make the payment, but a big piece of it doesn’t knock your debt down.
You Did Nothing Wrong
Nobody explained that when you opened the card. It just shows up on the statement, one month at a time.
You kept your word. You paid on time.
The trouble is how card interest works. It gets added every month, and a big piece of each payment goes to the interest first.
What It Costs You
Keep sending that $190 a month on the example card. Over the next 21 months, about $2,300 of those payments goes to interest. And after all 21 payments, you would still owe about $4,800.
That $2,300 is a lot of Christmas gifts. It is a new set of tires before the first snow. It is the Saturday breakfast at the diner you keep putting off “until the card is paid down.”
How a Balance Transfer Changes the Math
A balance transfer moves what you owe from a high-interest card to a new card with a 0% intro rate. And you can get that intro rate for as long as 21 months.
While the 0% runs, no interest is added to the balance you moved. So your whole payment goes toward what you owe, as long as you make at least the minimum payment on time.
Here is the same example on this card. You move the $6,500 balance. The 5% transfer fee is $325, which brings the total to $6,825.
Send the same $190 a month, and every dollar of it goes to the balance. After 21 payments, you would owe about $2,835. That is close to $2,000 less than you would still owe on the old card.
It is the same $190 a month on both cards. What changes is where the money goes.
What People Say When the Interest Stops
Here is what a few people wrote online about 0% balance transfers in general.
One retiree wrote:
“When I retired, I was carrying some hefty credit card balances… kept it there at 0% APR for 20 of the 21 allowable months… saved $1,700 in interest by using the balance transfer.”
Another forum member wrote that they were
“happy to not be paying 24% interest any more. 6 months later, and the card will be paid off next Friday…”
Before You Decide
The annual fee is $0.
The balance transfer fee is 5% (minimum $5). On the example, that is $325, paid once when you move the balance.
To get the intro rate, balance transfers must be made within 120 days of opening the account.
After the intro period ends, the rate goes to 17.74%, 24.24%, or 28.49% variable, based on your credit.
No interest is added to the balance you moved while the 0% runs, as long as you make at least the minimum payment on time. Whatever is left when it ends moves to the regular rate. On the example, sending $190 a month leaves about $2,835. Sending $325 a month clears it by the 21st month.
You generally can’t move a balance between two cards from the same bank. The balance has to come from a different lender.
You don’t have to give up your old card. Your old account stays open unless you choose to close it.
Approval is not guaranteed. This card is built for people with good to excellent credit.
2. If it looks right, you apply on the bank’s own secure website.
3. If you are approved, you transfer the balance from a card at a different lender within 120 days of opening the account.
4. While the 0% runs, your payments go to the balance you moved.
Let Your Next Payment Go Further
The 21 months start when your account opens. Every month you wait, the old card adds about another $125 in interest on the example balance.
Picture that statement on the kitchen table 21 months from now. On the example, sending $190 a month, the balance line reads close to $2,000 lower than it would on the old card. Send $325 a month, and it reads zero.
