WHOA! “BACK UP, AMBASSADOR… This Isn’t Havana!” – UN Ambassador Mike Waltz Gets In Shouting Match with Cuban Foreign Minister at UN General Assembly Hall (VIDEO)

Mike Waltz shows photo of Fidel Castro wearing two Rolex watches during UN meeting

UN Ambassador Mike Waltz got into a near-physical confrontation while speaking at the UN General Assembly hall in New York on Tuesday.

As Waltz was calling out Cuba’s Communist leaders, the Cuban foreign minister interrupted and approached Waltz, saying, “I appeal to you, and I’ll ask everyone.”

Waltz snapped, “And I’m the representative of the United States of America! Back up! Back up, Ambassador! Back away.”

“You are not going to intimidate me. Do you understand who you’re dealing with?” Waltz continued.

“This is America. Back up. The rule is clear. This is the substance of the speech. There are no procedural— You can bring as many people as you want. Please sit down. Sit down.”

WATCH:

The heated confrontation came after Waltz shredded Cuban Communists for leaving their country in squalor as they enjoy lives of riches.

Waltz had called out the Communist leaders for profiting off of their people and showing a photo of Fidel Castro wearing two Rolex watches.

“You’re looking at the great revolutionary, what’s on his wrist worth $40,000 in today’s money,” Waltz said while flashing the photo. “According to the regime’s own statistics, that would pay for 55 years of an average Cuban wage.”

“It didn’t just start with Castro. This is the current Cuban president, also with a Rolex on,” he added, flashing another photo, this time of Miguel Díaz-Canel.

More from the New York Post:

Waltz called out the Havana government for profiting off of the forced labor of its own citizens sent to concentration camps while using confiscated “businesses, farms, factories, homes and the savings of generations of hardworking Cubans” to line the pockets of its leaders.

As Waltz spoke, Cuba’s delegation banged on the table near their seats to express disapproval before Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla charged toward the rostrum and accused Waltz of lying, causing the US envoy to shout: “Back up!”

“He doesn’t like hard truths,” Waltz told the delegates. “You can come and intimidate all you want.”

“He’s not going to intimidate me in the United States of America — like he tries to intimidate political prisoners,” said Waltz, raising his voice at Parrilla as UN officials tried to restore order.

A grand jury declined to indict January 6 star witness Cassidy Hutchinson, the Washington Post reported.

The sought to indict January 6 ‘star witness’ Cassidy Hutchinson for lying to Congress.

Earlier this year it was reported that the DOJ launched an investigation into Hutchinson.

The DOJ’s Civil Rights Division presented evidence to a federal grand jury last week. Hutchinson has not been subpoenaed yet.

Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Harmeet Dhillon is spearheading the investigation.

Cassidy Hutchinson testified in June 2022 that Trump got into “the beast” after his speech at the Ellipse on January 6 with the belief that he would be driven to the Capitol.

According to Hutchinson, who received this information from Tony Ornato, the Assistant Director for the Secret Service, Trump grew angry after he was informed that he was being driven back to the West Wing.

According to Ornato, Trump shouted, “I’m the f*cking president! Take me up to the Capitol now!”

Hutchinson alleged that at this point, Trump reached up to the driver, grabbed the steering wheel, and tried to commandeer the presidential limo.

Hutchinson then claimed Secret Service Agent Bobby Engel grabbed Trump’s arm and took his hand off the steering wheel.

Of course, this was all a lie.

The House oversight subcommittee, headed by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), later found that unreleased testimony by four employees present for Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021, speech at the Ellipse “directly contradicted claims made by Cassidy Hutchinson. She made it all up. The woman should be hauled into court!

Later reports found that Liz Cheney coached Cassidy Hutchinson before her testimony. Another crime.

The Gateway Pundit compiled a list of Cassidy Hutchinson’s 9 confirmed lies from her debunked congressional testimony.

JUST IN: Furious Far-Left Judge Tosses Out New Charges Against FBI Officials Involved in Hunter Biden Laptop Investigation Who Admitted to “Running a Shadow Government”

The two former senior FBI officials who were arrested and charged with lying to Congress about their involvement in the Hunter Biden investigation were hit with new charges on Tuesday – but a far-left magistrate judge tossed out the new charges.

Nikki Cole Floris, 46, of Alexandria, Virginia, and Bradley Benavides, 56, of Aiken, South Carolina, were taken into custody and charged with making false statements about the Hunter Biden laptop investigation last week.

Floris also privately boasted about “running a shadow government” during the 2020 election.

“Evidence shows that Floris discussed the FBI’s investigations into Hunter Biden routinely for more than a year both within the FITF and with others in the FBI. Contrary to his assertion that he learned of the Hunter Biden laptop from Wikipedia, Benavides regularly discussed the laptop with FBI officials in the leadup to the 2020 election,” the DOJ said.

Floris and Benavides both falsely testified that the FBI Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) was not involved in the Hunter Biden laptop investigation.

On Tuesday, federal prosecutors, in an unsigned superseding complaint, charged Floris and Benavides with obstructing a congressional proceeding.

However, far-left Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui fumed as he tossed out the charges after the Justice Department filed an unsworn and unsigned superseding complaint.

“We have never had complaints filed that are unsigned,” Faruqui said, according to CBS News. “It is inappropriate. It harms the defendants.”

“I am unaware of that ever happening before in this court,” he added. “I am frustrated that I got it in the middle of the night. But I am much more concerned that it is filed on the public record.”

CBS News reported:

A federal magistrate judge on Tuesday rejected the Justice Department’s 11th hour attempt to file new criminal charges against two former FBI counterintelligence officials, saying prosecutors could not take that step without judicial review first.

In a tense exchange, Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia expressed shock and anger at the Justice Department for filing an unsworn and unsigned superseding complaint against the two FBI officials after midnight on Tuesday on the public court docket, noting it was never reviewed by him to establish where there was probable cause a crime was committed.

Filing an unsworn complaint on the public docket and bypassing judicial review, he said, is unheard of and raises questions about the DOJ’s motivations. He said he would be ordering that the new version of the charging documents be “struck from the record,” though the Justice Department could try to add new charges the proper way.

Are You Still Paying Credit Card Interest? Try Putting Your Whole Payment Toward What You Owe for 21 Months Instead

Credit card featuring the American flag design, surrounded by snowflakes and festive elements, set against a textured icy background.

(Note: Thank you for supporting businesses like the one presenting a sponsored message below and working with them through the links below which benefits Gateway Pundit. We appreciate your support!)

Credit card featuring the American flag design, surrounded by snowflakes and festive elements, set against a textured icy background.

The credit card statement lies open on the kitchen table, next to your reading glasses and a cup of coffee.

You run your finger down the page to the line that says “Interest Charge.” It’s a lot. Then you find the balance still due. It barely moved.

You paid on time. You paid what they asked. The balance barely moved.

Where Your Payment Really Goes

Here is an example. Say you owe $6,500 on a card that charges 23% APR.

Your minimum payment due on that statement would be about $190. Because many card companies set the minimum at 1% of the balance plus that month’s interest.

If you send only the minimum, about $125 of it is used to pay the interest. Only about $65 touches what you actually owe.

That is about two out of every three dollars going to interest. Gone before your balance gets its turn.

You make the payment, but a big piece of it doesn’t knock your debt down.

You Did Nothing Wrong

Nobody explained that when you opened the card. It just shows up on the statement, one month at a time.

You kept your word. You paid on time.

The trouble is how card interest works. It gets added every month, and a big piece of each payment goes to the interest first.

What It Costs You

Keep sending that $190 a month on the example card. Over the next 21 months, about $2,300 of those payments goes to interest. And after all 21 payments, you would still owe about $4,800.

That $2,300 is a lot of Christmas gifts. It is a new set of tires before the first snow. It is the Saturday breakfast at the diner you keep putting off “until the card is paid down.”

How a Balance Transfer Changes the Math

A balance transfer moves what you owe from a high-interest card to a new card with a 0% intro rate. And you can get that intro rate for as long as 21 months.

While the 0% runs, no interest is added to the balance you moved. So your whole payment goes toward what you owe, as long as you make at least the minimum payment on time.

One card gives you 0% intro APR for 21 months from account opening on both purchases and qualifying balance transfers. There is no annual fee.

Here is the same example on this card. You move the $6,500 balance. The 5% transfer fee is $325, which brings the total to $6,825.

Send the same $190 a month, and every dollar of it goes to the balance. After 21 payments, you would owe about $2,835. That is close to $2,000 less than you would still owe on the old card.

It is the same $190 a month on both cards. What changes is where the money goes.

What People Say When the Interest Stops

Here is what a few people wrote online about 0% balance transfers in general.

One retiree wrote:

“When I retired, I was carrying some hefty credit card balances… kept it there at 0% APR for 20 of the 21 allowable months… saved $1,700 in interest by using the balance transfer.”

Another forum member wrote that they were

“happy to not be paying 24% interest any more. 6 months later, and the card will be paid off next Friday…”

Before You Decide

  • The annual fee is $0.

  • The balance transfer fee is 5% (minimum $5). On the example, that is $325, paid once when you move the balance.

  • To get the intro rate, balance transfers must be made within 120 days of opening the account.

  • After the intro period ends, the rate goes to 17.74%, 24.24%, or 28.49% variable, based on your credit.

  • No interest is added to the balance you moved while the 0% runs, as long as you make at least the minimum payment on time. Whatever is left when it ends moves to the regular rate. On the example, sending $190 a month leaves about $2,835. Sending $325 a month clears it by the 21st month.

  • You generally can’t move a balance between two cards from the same bank. The balance has to come from a different lender.

  • You don’t have to give up your old card. Your old account stays open unless you choose to close it.

  • Approval is not guaranteed. This card is built for people with good to excellent credit.

What Happens After You Click

1. You read the full rates and terms at FinanceBuzz.

2. If it looks right, you apply on the bank’s own secure website.

3. If you are approved, you transfer the balance from a card at a different lender within 120 days of opening the account.

4. While the 0% runs, your payments go to the balance you moved.

Let Your Next Payment Go Further

The 21 months start when your account opens. Every month you wait, the old card adds about another $125 in interest on the example balance.

Picture that statement on the kitchen table 21 months from now. On the example, sending $190 a month, the balance line reads close to $2,000 lower than it would on the old card. Send $325 a month, and it reads zero.

See the full terms for this 0% balance transfer card at FinanceBuzz »

You paid on time. You did your part.

Now more of every payment can go where you meant it to go.

HORROR: 81-Year-Old Navy Veteran in Mobility Scooter Fatally Shot in Georgia Walmart Parking Lot

James McDaniel, 81, was fatally shot in a Walmart parking lot in Gainesville, Georgia, last week.

McDaniel, a beloved Vietnam War veteran and former postal worker, was leaving Walmart in his mobility scooter when he got caught in the crossfire as a group of people began shooting at each other.

A week after the fatal shooting, Erron Lamar Dorsey, 17, and Kamari Nehemiah Tilmuth, 18, were taken into custody and charged with felony murder.

“They’re shooting across a busy parking lot with hundreds of vehicles, people everywhere at each other,” Gainesville Police Capt. Kevin Holbrook said, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. “And unfortunately, this gentleman just gets shot and killed just trying to live his everyday life.”

McDaniel leaves behind a wife and four children. He also had grandchildren and great grandchildren.

James McDaniel’s son said everyone referred to his father as “Senior Chief.”

Via CBS News:

Over a week after an 81-year-old man was shot and killed while leaving a Gainesville Walmart, authorities say they’ve made a new arrest in the case.

The Gainesville Police Department said that 17-year-old Erron Lamar Dorsey surrendered to officers in East Point on Friday morning.

Dorsey was wanted for felony murder, aggravated assault, and firearm charges in the killing of 81-year-old James Edward McDaniel on Oct. 14.

Investigators said two groups had a confrontation inside the store that night that continued into the parking lot. Dorsey was one of two suspects who police claimed fired gunshots during the confrontation.

A few days later, a Hall County SWAT team arrested 18-year-old Kamari Nehemiah Tilmuth while carrying out a search warrant.

Tilmuth was also charged with felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

(VIDEO) Trump Says if Democrats Win Congress, “I Have a Strong Veto” to Make “Strong Deals” – Will Accept Results “If They’re Honest Elections”

President Trump speaks to reporters at Joint Base Andrews

President Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he will accept the upcoming election results but only if they’re “honest” and that he has his veto pen ready if the Democrats gain congressional power.

“We’ll figure a way. Look, I have a strong veto. I hope that won’t be the case, but if it is, that’s happened before with many presidents, and you have strong veto, and you end up working out deals,” Trump told reporters when asked how he plans to work with Democrats.

“And you’ll respect the results, whatever happens?” Bloomberg correspondent Jeff Mason asked.

Trump responded, “I will, if they’re honest, elections.”

WATCH:

Previously, Trump told reporters he plans to “veto everything” if Democrats come to power. “If it happens, you veto, veto, veto, and then they come, and they say, how do we get it done? And you make a deal,” Trump said.

Trump’s comments about accepting only fair elections come as the Trump administration is already challenging election results in Alaska, where the Democrats have placed a decoy candidate with the same name as an incumbent senator on the ballot.

The Department of Justice sued Alaska last week to block certification of the election if Senator Dan Sullivan loses due to the phony Daniel J. Sullivan’s name being on the ballot.

The lawsuit seeks to prevent certification if Sullivan loses but would have won “had all votes cast for Daniel J. Sullivan been cast instead for Senator Sullivan and Alaska’s rank-choice process played out accordingly.”

But the leftist media is pushing an election denier and January 6 narrative because of Trump’s attempts to ensure the will of the voters.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Attorney General Todd Blanche appeared on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, where leftist hack Dana Bash laughably suggested that Trump is “laying the groundwork” for another scenario like January 6, 2021.

“She’s NOT A Socialist, She’s A COMMUNIST”: Radio Host John Fredericks Goes SCORCHED EARTH On DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Likely Successor

Radio Host, John Fredericks hosted a press conference in Washington, DC, to talk about a Tax-Grab scheme being pushed by the City Council and called for an end to Home Rule in DC.

At the conference, I witnessed Fredericks blast the City Council over their plans to implement seven new tax proposals. Fredericks warns that these tax proposals could drive residents and employers out of DC and damage the city’s economy.

The City Council has not planned a fall vote for these proposals and might wait until Spring of next year, after DC Mayor Muriel Bowser leaves office.

Democratic Socialist Janeese Lewis George will likely succeed Mayor Bowser early next year. Over 90% of registered voters in the District are Democrats, and Republicans have not won a mayoral election here since the 19th century.

Given the fact that George will most definitely be sworn in as the next Mayor and given her ties to the Democratic Socialists, she is more likely to raise taxes on DC residents and businesses. The very thing Fredericks is speaking out against in this press conference.

At the end of the press conference, I asked Fredericks about what tactics he is going to use to oppose the new Socialist Mayor once she takes over the city.

“I’ll tell you what. The problem is she’s not a socialist. She’s a communist. So you’re going to have a communist Mayor coming in,” Fredericks told me.

He then points out George’s strong ties to the DSA, informing me that George has been a member “since its inception.”

Fredericks also laid out what he believes George is going to do about the Tax-Grab scheme:

“What do you think she’s gonna do when she gets in? She is gonna sign every one of these taxes because they can’t fund the city; they can’t fund their budget. She is gonna want additional spending, which is even gonna be over the $800 million deficit they have. So that’s where her platform is, and she wants to undo everything here that has helped this city become cleaner, become safer, become a haven for businesses to come in and for people to be here.”

Fears of George potentially developing a combative relationship with President Trump are also something to take into account, especially given the ongoing legal battle to keep the National Guard in DC.

“She wants to undo everything in order to stop whatever President Trump has done in her mind. That’s what’s gonna happen if she comes in,” Fredericks then told me.

“You’re looking at a train wreck here with Janeese Lewis George coming in as mayor with this very left-wing city council. With all these taxes going up, you’re not gonna be able to fund this thing.”

Fredericks ended by predicting that President Trump and Republicans will pull Home Rule from Washington, DC:

” I’m telling you what’s gonna happen, Trump is gonna pull Home Rule. The Republicans are gonna pull home rule. That is gonna happen as sure as we’re standing here if they don’t wake up and try to solve this problem.”

Washington, DC has never had a Socialist or Communist Mayor. George’s inevitable victory in November will be historic.

Fredericks warns DC residents of what is going to happen after this historic election concludes.

Will DC residents listen and stand up against this takeover, or will DC fall to Communists who seek to destroy the city?

You can watch the full press conference on YouTube. You can also keep up with John Frederick’s work on Instagram, Tik Tok, and X.

HUGE! Flávio Bolsonaro Has Fled Socialist Brazil– Is In the United States

Flávio Bolsonaro was the clear favorite of Brazil’s conservative movement going into the 2026 presidential election. Then, unfortunately, much like election results we’ve been witnessing across America, the final weeks of the “counting”  changed the outcome.

Flávio is the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, a close ally of Donald Trump who governed Brazil from 2019 to 2022 on a platform of tough-on-crime policies, free markets, and traditional values. After Jair was barred from running again and later convicted in connection with efforts to overturn his 2022 loss, he handpicked Flávio to carry the family name and the right-wing base forward.

Flávio, a longtime senator from Rio de Janeiro, has spent his career focused on public security and has worked closely with his father in Congress. Other family members have also built political careers: his brother Eduardo became a prominent Trump ally in the United States and faced legal trouble at home for lobbying American officials against Brazilian courts, while his brother Carlos and stepmother Michelle have held or sought elected office. The Bolsonaro name remains the dominant force on Brazil’s right.

After the first round, Flávio was well ahead of his Socialist opponent, President Lula da Silva, and citizens celebrated in the streets.

By the time the runoff ended on October 25, 2026, President Lula da Silva was curiously ahead by about 4.4 million votes. In those final three weeks, turnout jumped in the regions that most strongly support Lula, especially the Northeast. The government expanded cash payments to low-income families and issued an emergency order limiting online betting. On election day, voting hours were extended until 7 p.m. after a request from Lula’s side. Flávio’s campaign called it a last-minute change to the rules. Independent reviews of that extra window found that tens of thousands of ballots were cast then. The numbers shifted just enough, and in just the right places, to flip the result.

The Brazil election looks a lot like what happened in the United States in November 2020.

The nation’s enthusiasm was clearly on Bolsonaro’s side, as it was in 2020 for President Trump, who drew massive crowds in every state before the election, while the failing Joe Biden was kept hidden in his basement, far from any media scrutiny.

In the final weeks, officials made late changes to the rules. Turnout suddenly jumped in the areas that strongly support Lula. And last-minute decisions helped one side. Even so, Flávio Bolsonaro received more votes than his father did in 2022, and his party gained more seats in Congress. The right did not get weaker. It was passed in the final stretch by a mix of extra government spending, higher turnout in left-leaning regions, and an extended voting window whose timing and impact are still being questioned.

Flávio is not accepting the result.

Flávio is reportedly headed to Florida with his family after his Socialist opponent canceled his passport. Although it has not yet been confirmed, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is being credited with helping him gain asylum in the United States.

What followed the election has been more telling than the vote tally itself. Flávio refused to concede, as did his party, and said he would organize the opposition to resist the “chaos.” Multiple reports, including confirmation from a U.S. official cited by Reuters and earlier statements from Levy, indicate he left Brazil with his family and is headed to the United States. Brazilian authorities under Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes canceled his passports after he failed to surrender them. The move has been described as a protective operation. For Trump’s team, a high-profile Brazilian opposition figure operating from American soil changes the calculus.

According to Simon Levy– Washington is not treating Lula’s win as the end of the game. Levy’s assessment is that the administration is accelerating pressure on Venezuela, Cuba, and Mexico while tightening financial leverage on Brazil. In Venezuela, polling cited in the analysis shows María Corina Machado with a clear lead. In Cuba, economic projections remain dire. In Mexico, the expected departure of the current head of the National Electoral Institute (INE) is viewed as opening space ahead of the 2027 midterm elections, when 17 governorships and 500 congressional seats will be on the ballot. Together, Brazil and Mexico represent more than half the population and nearly 60% of Latin America and the Caribbean’s GDP. Losing one does not mean conceding the board.

Lula won the Brazilian presidency, but the right expanded its congressional strength and retained key governorships. Flávio’s departure to the United States, combined with continued U.S. focus on Venezuela and Cuba, signals that the fight is shifting from the ballot box to sustained political and economic pressure. For those tracking election integrity and resistance to leftist consolidation across the region, the next several months will test whether opposition forces can operate effectively from outside their own countries while Washington applies pressure to the far-left Socialists where it hurts.

Building a Civilization: President Trump’s Ballroom, Independence Arch, and America’s Resurgence

This appears to be the hallway outside of the main ballroom at the Trump White House Ballroom.

America’s resurgence is not merely a question of economic growth, military strength, or national security. It is also a question of civilization: whether the United States retains the confidence to express its founding principles through the institutions, monuments, and artistic traditions that define its place in history.

President Trump’s White House ballroom and proposed Independence Arch represent two expressions of this larger ambition. They are not simply construction projects. They embody a belief that a great republic should build for posterity, draw strength from its historical inheritance, and express its national identity without embarrassment or apology.

At a moment when America approaches its 250th anniversary, that proposition deserves serious consideration. The question is whether we will continue to build upon the foundations of Western civilization or surrender the confidence to celebrate the traditions that made the American experiment possible.

The Classical Tradition and the American Republic

The Founders understood that the United States was both a new political experiment and the heir to an older civilization. They drew upon the Greek understanding of civic life, Roman conceptions of republican government, and the Enlightenment’s emphasis on reason, natural rights, and individual liberty.

Thomas Jefferson translated that inheritance into architecture. The Rotunda at the University of Virginia, modeled on Rome’s Pantheon, was not an arbitrary aesthetic choice. It expressed a conviction that education, civic virtue, and the pursuit of knowledge belonged to a tradition extending far beyond the boundaries of the new republic.

The Roman architect Vitruvius identified three essential qualities of architecture: firmitas, utilitas, and venustas—firmness, utility, and beauty. These principles offer a useful standard for judging the built environment today. Buildings should endure, serve a purpose, and elevate the human experience.

Yet modern architecture has too often treated beauty and tradition as expendable luxuries. In their place, public spaces have frequently embraced the anonymous and the interchangeable, as though efficiency alone could satisfy the aspirations of a great nation.

President Trump’s architectural vision challenges that assumption. It advances the proposition that public buildings should aspire to something beyond bare functionality: they should embody the dignity, continuity, and confidence of the country they serve.

A Ballroom Befitting the Presidency

The White House ballroom addresses a practical deficiency while carrying a larger symbolic message. The administration announced a privately funded project of approximately $200 million, with a planned capacity of 650 seated guests. The existing East Room, by comparison, accommodates substantially fewer people.

The practical rationale is clear. The presidency is the center of American diplomacy, hosting foreign leaders, international delegations, and major national ceremonies. Facilities appropriate to those responsibilities are a legitimate consideration for an institution that represents the United States before the world.

But the deeper significance is architectural. A ballroom at the White House is a setting in which America presents itself to foreign dignitaries and its own citizens. Its design communicates something about the nation’s understanding of its history and its aspirations.

Classical proportions, enduring materials, and carefully considered ornamentation can convey permanence in a way that temporary structures and purely utilitarian spaces cannot. The point is not that every public building must imitate antiquity. It is that a republic with America’s history should not be afraid to draw upon the artistic traditions through which previous civilizations expressed their highest ideals.

The White House is not merely an office complex. It is a national symbol. Its architecture should reflect that distinction.

Independence Made Monumental

The proposed Independence Arch extends this argument onto the national stage. Drawing upon the tradition of Roman triumphal arches, it would commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence through a form historically associated with public achievement, collective memory, and national identity.

An arch is more than an ornamental structure. It gives physical expression to an idea. From ancient Rome to modern capitals, monumental arches have marked the passage of peoples through history, declaring that certain events and principles deserve to outlast the generations that witnessed them.

For America, the central idea is independence—not simply separation from Britain, but the establishment of a constitutional republic founded on the principle that government derives its legitimate authority from the consent of the governed.

A monument worthy of that achievement must therefore represent more than presidential ambition. It should commemorate the founding principles, sacrifices, and civic obligations that sustain the Republic. Its ultimate significance will depend on whether its design, location, and execution serve that public purpose.

The project’s proposed scale and placement have prompted questions about planning, approvals, and its relationship to Washington’s existing monuments. Those concerns warrant careful consideration. National confidence and responsible stewardship are complementary obligations, not competing ones.

Nevertheless, the ambition to commemorate the American semiquincentennial with a permanent architectural statement reflects an enduring civic impulse: to ensure that the achievements of one generation remain visible to the next.

The Architecture of Resurgence

The central argument connecting the ballroom and the arch is straightforward: a civilization confident in its future does not abandon its past.

Western civilization advanced through the preservation and adaptation of inherited ideas—in law, philosophy, science, literature, and art. The American Founders themselves understood that innovation did not require historical amnesia. They created something new by drawing upon what earlier generations had learned.

That is the significance of classical architecture in the American context. Its vocabulary of proportion, symmetry, and permanence connects the Republic to a tradition that predates it, while giving distinctively American expression to the principles of liberty and self-government.

Neither a ballroom nor an arch can, by itself, establish a national resurgence. That depends on the strength of American institutions, the vitality of its economy, the preservation of individual liberty, and the character of its citizens. But architecture can express the aspirations that unite these endeavors.

As America approaches its 250th birthday, President Trump’s architectural projects invite a larger question: Will the country continue to build as though its founding principles are worth preserving for another 250 years?

The answer should be visible not only in the policies America adopts, but in the monuments it leaves behind. A great republic must do more than inherit a civilization. It must have the confidence to carry it forward.
