The Air Force’s Vindictive War on Lance Castle: Ruthless Retaliation After a COVID Mandate Refusal and Full Acquittal at Court-Martial, Part Two

In Part One of this three-part series, reporting by J.M. Phelps detailed how Staff Sgt. Lance Castle was systematically targeted after filing a religious objection to the COVID-19 shot mandate.

This pattern of reprisal, documented repeatedly by Phelps, persisted even after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin formally rescinded the mandate on Jan. 10, 2023, and directed the armed services to reverse punitive measures taken solely over shot refusal.

Yet by that same month, Castle had already been classified as an “insider threat.” His squadron commander, Lt. Col. Enrique Vazquez, did not recommend him for promotion to technical sergeant. That non-recommendation blocked him from advancing to E-6.

Less than two weeks later, his flight commander, Capt. Liam Lawrence, claimed a prior supervisor, TSgt Benjamin Lipp, believed Castle had been “potentially radicalized by an anti-US government group in the wake of his refusal to take the COVID vaccine” and was a threat to the base.

Squadron members were instructed by Lawrence “not to meet with him one-on-one, to avoid all interactions with him, and under no circumstances to go to his home.” This is a clear example of ostracism. Vazquez added, “I believe SSgt Castle exhibits almost every indicator of an insider threat and should not have access to any sensitive materials or areas.”

To make matters even more egregious, Castle was also given a security termination statement with guidelines outlining the Espionage Act and other criminal statutes (AF IMT 2587) that state, “The penalties prescribed for violations of these statutes through willful acts or gross negligence vary according to the statute the circumstances and the information involved. They range in severity from a fine of not more than $2,500 to life imprisonment or death. Your signature on this form is your acknowledgment that you have been informed of the criminal statutes applicable to espionage and the punishments provided for violation of these statutes.”

Castle refused to sign this form, which marked the beginning of his decision not to sign any document that he deemed deceitful from his chain of command.

In an interview with Castle’s military attorney, Capt. Leeza Tirado, Lipp said he “did not have concern” that Castle was an insider threat.

Image: Insider Threat Concern, Courtesy of Lance Castle

He described Castle as frustrated with the shot mandate and added, “There was nothing further that I experienced that made me think he was an insider threat.” Lawrence had used Lipp’s name in the insider-threat paperwork, and Vazquez signed off on it.

During Castle’s second trial, Lipp would also confirm under oath that he never requested a no-contact order against Castle. A later order from the incoming group commander, Col. Stuart Churchill, who took over for Col. Roche, would place the no-contact order on multiple people who had direct involvement with the falsified paperwork on Castle that led to his first trial.

The paperwork that labeled him a threat and cut him off from his squadron did not match what his former supervisor actually said under oath.

Two weeks later, Vazquez imposed an Article 15 on Castle for failure to go and disrespect toward Master Sgt. Michael Carey. According to evidence presented by Castle, Carey had authorized his appointments to the chaplain that week yet later submitted documentation alleging his absence from his workplace. It appears that MSgt Carey was building a false paper trail against Castle to later use against him.

Image: Alleged Violation of UCMJ, Courtesy of Lance Castle

A separate charge of disrespect stemmed from an allegation that Castle failed to assume parade rest while receiving paperwork related to a text message in which he had referred to Carey as “silly.” Castle maintains that he did in fact assume the required position. He was issued yet another Letter of Reprimand (LOR) for this occurrence. It was at this moment that he realized the critical importance of now needing to secretly record every word of all subsequent interactions with his chain of command.

The disrespect allegation would also include in that Castle was talking over Carey. According to Castle, this too was fictitious.

Castle would later be ordered by the successor group commander, Churchill, to no longer be able to audio record any encounter without his permission. Castle viewed this as a strategic move by Churchill to block spontaneous encounters with anyone in his chain of command, whether in the squadron or elsewhere on base.

The new First Sergeant, MSgt Matthew Calhoun, later told him that if he was caught audio recording at any moment, he could be arrested. Castle was also subject to mandatory frisks by security forces with OSI in attendance, including Special Agent Andrew Brown and OSI Commander Special Agent Christopher Riccio, before he could be allowed on base. Churchill was the one behind the searches.

Castle opted for a personal appearance with Vazquez regarding why Article 15 punishments should not be imposed. Castle would secretly fully record the entire encounter. From that meeting, Castle was later charged by Vazquez with “disrespect to a superior commissioned officer.” The charge would claim he called Vazquez a “domestic threat.” Castle submitted a written rebuttal to all allegations in the Article 15, and Vazquez denied the rebuttal. He then submitted an appeal to the group commander, Col. Barry Roche, who also denied it.

Castle now understood the full measure of his opposition. These commanders operated beyond reason, actions governed by whim rather than regulation.

On February 13, 2023, Vazquez reduced him to Senior Airman, after a decade as an NCO, and forfeited $3,038. The insider-threat form still called him a Staff Sergeant. The charge sheet called him a Senior Airman.

During Castle’s trial, Vazquez claimed that Castle “was moved under a different supervisor” because of his stated safety concerns against his supervisor MSgt. Carey.

On March 31, 2023, around noon, he handed Castle, in person, orders sending him back to the same office. The flight commander and first sergeant never made the notification, and Carey himself opened his testimony by stating he was still Castle’s supervisor.

The judge asked whether anyone told Castle that Carey had been removed. Vazquez said, “He didn’t know… That’s something we missed; I missed.”

Days later, Vazquez suspended Castle’s security clearance and access to classified information, writing that he “exhibits almost every indicator of an insider threat.” The same contested narrative that had already produced LORs, an E-6 non-recommendation for promotion, and an Article 15 that resulted in his first rank reduction was now inside the formal security system.

Eleven days after that, Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall issued a directive ordering commanders to rescind the mandate guidance and to remove or redact the COVID verbiage from anyone’s files. The insider-threat form still tied the “radicalized toward an anti-U.S. government group” label to the shot. They kept the insider-threat and radicalization labels and left the words “COVID-19” on the document itself. That documentation led to false allegations of “potential active shooter,” “targeting members,” and multiple OSI investigations, including one involving Special Agent Erin Cunningham.

By March 2023, Castle no longer trusted his chain of command or the Inspector General system. In a May 2023 Inspector General complaint that he filed on Vazquez, the IG acknowledged receipt. When Castle checked on its status after his trial in October 2023, they would now tell him that it was lost with the transition to a new system and turnover.

In October 2026, Castle filed yet another formal complaint against Vazquez. It was dismissed and closed without investigation by Lt. Col. Kelly Person due to her citing that he failed to submit the complaint within the year of the alleged misconduct, even though the IG had lost his initial complaint three years prior. Undeterred, Castle bypassed the chain of command entirely, sending a direct email to USAF Inspector General Lt. Gen. David B. Lyons detailing his concerns over Person’s summary dismissal. That complaint remains open and unresolved as of this writing.

Although he had written that he felt unsafe around Carey, command still required Castle to be face-to-face with him. Text messages between Carey and Lawrence revealed that they both plotted for Castle to receive initial feedback from Carey. Lawrence told Carey in text that he hoped Castle wouldn’t attend it so that he could issue him more paperwork.

They would also track Castle’s movements on base, send photographs of his truck, and recommend a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) so he could soon be arrested with the paper trail that they built on him for months.

On multiple occasions when he was expected for meetings, leadership arranged for armed personnel to stand by. On April 3, 2023, two separate memos claimed he was “targeting members” and labeled him a “potential active shooter.”

One memo said there was “a clear motive in the situation that could end fatal for some individuals that work in building 620.” This designation echoed the harrowing experiences of Army 1LT Mark Bashaw from the prior year, illustrating a pattern of military personnel being labeled as insider threats, and threatened with imprisonment, due to their shot-related decisions.

Castle rejected the allegations, telling The Gateway Pundit, “This is literally all fictitious, falsified. None of that is even accurate. Not even close.”

By early April 2023, the decision to take Castle into pretrial confinement was already being coordinated. Between April 3 and 7, a multi-agency discussion involved Mental Health, the Office of Special Investigations, Security Forces, and legal. Vazquez admitted he coordinated with both OSI and Security Forces. He first considered arresting Castle at his residence, then chose the gate. Castle said he was relieved when he was notified of a Team Treatment Meeting scheduled for April 10. “I was more than happy to go, because I would finally be heard by everyone in the room.”

Defense counsel later argued the TTM was used under false pretenses to get him on base for the arrest. On April 10, he was arrested at the gate of Cannon Air Force Base while en route to that meeting.

“No one could tell me what I was being arrested for,” he said. “It was a total ambush.” The charge sheet preferred by Vazquez alleged desertion “with intent to remain away therefrom permanently.”

Castle was apprehended while traveling to a scheduled military healthcare appointment on base. A military judge later ordered his release, noting there was no evidence he was attempting to flee.

Castle spent 66 days in pretrial confinement, from April 10 to June 14, 2023. In his 72-hour confinement memo, Vazquez claimed Castle had struck several Security Forces members and broken one of their noses. That claim became a central reason the Pretrial Confinement Review Officer kept him locked up, including through the birth of his first son.

Anticipating the birth in early June, Castle requested a limited release, even with an escort, so he could be there. His Area Defense Counsel raised the request with Vazquez on May 25. Vazquez said no. He cited the nature of the charges, claimed Castle was a high risk to flee, and then admitted he “felt bad” that Castle would likely miss the birth.

Nine days later, when asked to confirm those reasons by email, Vazquez’s complete response was three words: “That is correct.”

The night of the arrest, about ten to eleven hours later, seven Security Forces members forced him into a restraint chair, cut his uniform and the rest of his clothing off with trauma shears, and conducted a scars, marks, and cavity search. His prescribed blood pressure medication was not ordered, forcing him to go without it for more than 30 days.

The next morning, April 11, the extraction team pulled him from his cell under the guise of noncompliance. Testimony established the team was inexperienced, received no recent refresher training, had no knowledge of the scheduled TTM, and was briefed for only a couple of minutes before entry. No mental health professional or chaplain was involved in any de-escalation attempt.

Group-chat messages from confinement staff later obtained by the defense show they coordinated the extraction to “stun him into compliance.” This forced cell extraction, conducted after falsified charges and later challenged by the defense as an unlawful use of force, left Castle with serious injuries including a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) and torn rotator cuff that required multiple surgeries less than six months later. They required multiple surgeries in February and April 2024. MRIs confirmed the injuries.

On the morning of the cell extraction, medics documented a laceration on his nose, left-shoulder pain, and shackles around his ankles tight enough that they felt compelled to ask staff to loosen them.

Image: Written Statement from Medic, Courtesy of Lance Castle

Reacting to the viral incident surrounding this story, Castle’s former wing commander of Kirtland AFB, Retired Col Rob Maness once stated in a public interview: “that squadron commander needs to be held accountable for misusing and abusing the criminal justice system in the Armed Forces, and everybody involved in that process that you just saw, all the way up the chain of command needs to be investigated to find out why this young American, simply because he did what we train our troops to do, refuse unlawful orders, was treated in this manner. It’s despicable.”

In addition, Army Lt Gen Michael Flynn, who previously served as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and U.S. National Security Advisor (during the first Trump administration) wrote in an X post: “If there isn’t more to this other than refusing a deadly vaccine, every single person from the top of the chain of command to those involved in this disastrous action directed against a fellow airman must be held accountable. The loss of trust in our armed forces is showing a weariness in the ranks and the inability of our armed forces to accomplish their directed missions is unacceptable.” He continued with, “In years of running interrogation operations against the worst of our enemies, we never treated anyone like this U.S. Air Force Senior Airman was treated. Totally unacceptable behavior top to bottom.”

Interestingly, at trial, the government’s own alleged victim from the incident undercut the confinement justification. Senior Airman Deadrick D. Kelly, testifying as a civilian, said the opposite of what Vazquez had written: “He didn’t hit me.” He explained the injury was “my own fault.” The same commander who preferred the charges had authored the 72-hour memo that relied on injury claims the government’s witness later denied under oath.

When Judge Vicki Marcus pressed Lt. Col. Vazquez about why he still preferred a court-martial specification for the same alleged disrespect after he had already imposed Non-Judicial Punishment for it, Vazquez could not explain his logic. Furthermore, Vazquez admitted under oath that the only threat Castle ever made against him was that he was going to go to the IG and Equal Opportunity office.

The pattern was consistent: negative documentation was added when convenient, altered or removed when it became inconvenient, and then recycled as the basis for more serious charges. Charge I, desertion, was thrown out under Rules for Court-Martial 917 for no evidence. Charge II, the claim that Castle called Vazquez a “domestic threat,” also fell.

Notably, it was only after learning that Castle had recorded their prior meeting that Vazquez testified under oath that Castle never referred to him as a domestic threat.

The machinery of reprisal, once set in motion, proved relentless, operating with a chilling efficiency that outlasted the COVID-19 mandates, overrode sworn testimony, and ultimately failed only when forced into the light of a public courtroom.

On September 13, 2023, Lt. Col. Vicki Marcus found him not guilty of every specification that remained, ruling that the government failed to prove a single charge from that arrest. Yet, the Department of the Air Force treated this judicial exoneration as if it had never happened.

Next week, Part Three will examine the current status of Staff Sergeant Lance Castle’s ongoing legal and professional battles.

UPDATE: US DOJ Is Reviewing Forceful Ejection of Brandi Kruse and Fans Wearing XX-XY Shirts at Friday’s Portland Thorns Female Soccer Game

Independent journalist Brandi Kruse is removed from Thorns soccer game on Friday night for wearing XX-XY shirt.

As reported earlier… Independent journalist Brandi Kruse says she was physically removed from a Portland Thorns female professional soccer game simply for wearing a shirt supporting sex-based protections in women’s athletics.

Kruse, host of the independent political commentary program unDivided, was escorted out of Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, on Friday night, October 23, during a National Women’s Soccer League match between the Portland Thorns FC and North Carolina Courage.

Her offense was wearing a T-shirt from XX-XY Athletics, a sportswear company founded by former Levi’s executive Jennifer Sey that advocates preserving female athletic categories based on biological sex.

Kruse said she and other supporters peacefully wore their shirts before being confronted and assaulted by opposing fans.

Then, according to her account, stadium security ultimately removed her group rather than the individuals she accused of attacking them.

Seattle Journalist Brandi Kruse Forcibly Dragged Out from Portland Thorns Game for Wearing XX-XY Athletics Shirt – Security Manhandles Her While Fans Assault Supporters of Biological Reality

On Saturday morning, FOX News reporter Jackson Thompson reported that the US Department of Justice is reviewing Brandi’s forceful removal from the Thorn’s game for wearing an XX-XY shirt.

The shirt is a symbol for Americans who refuse to accept biological male athletes into female sports.

For the record, the International Olympic Committee also will NOT allow biological males to compete against women.

It’s common sense.

Jackson Thompson reported on X:

“The Justice Department is aware of these reports and will review the matter thoroughly. Where the facts and the law warrant action, the Department will not hesitate to act.”

A DOJ spokesperson also told me, “Based on what is known so far, the conduct described appears to raise viewpoint discrimination and First Amendment questions rather than sex discrimination. The Department is reviewing it.”

Legendary Law Prof Alan Dershowitz on Ilhan Omar: ‘In Much Deeper Trouble Than She’s Willing to Admit’ (VIDEO)

Alan Dershowitz

Legendary Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz offered some commentary on the Ilhan Omar situation during a recent appearance on Newsmax. He suggested that the situation is far worse than Omar is letting on and seems to think that deportation is a very real possibility.

Derhowitz also uses his legal expertise to explain how the statute of limitations may not work in Omar’s defense because it could be classified as an ongoing conspiracy.

He even goes so far as to predict that she will resign from Congress amid the probe.

From Newsmax:

Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz predicted on Newsmax on Friday that Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., will resign from Congress. He said mounting questions about her identity and immigration history could cost her citizenship if they are proved.

“I think she will resign from Congress,” Dershowitz said on “The Record With Greta Van Susteren.”

“I don’t think that she’s going to want to see congressional investigations.”

Omar has not been charged with a crime and has denied wrongdoing.

Dershowitz said the questions surrounding Omar could be settled through a DNA test and records showing the birth date she has used over the years. He acknowledged that she may lack a birth certificate because of the turmoil in her native Somalia.

He argued that the key issue is Omar’s date of birth, alleging that she and her father might have misrepresented her age to make her eligible for citizenship through him. Dershowitz claimed she would not have qualified had she been over 18.

“If that’s true, she’s done,” he said. “Her naturalization can be undone. She can be deported. She can be forced to leave Congress.”

Watch the video clip below:

This is not some two-bit commentator on cable news saying this, it’s a renowned law professor.

Omar is in deep trouble.

ICE Says Teams in Houston Are Averaging About 100 Illegal Alien Arrests Every Day, ‘Past Administrations Failed You, the American People’

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says its Houston teams are now averaging about 100 arrests of illegal aliens per day.

The official ICE account posted on Friday, “We are arresting about 100 illegal aliens a day in Houston, Texas. Past Administrations failed you, the American people. President Trump will not.”

The post included video from a NewsNation report as they embedded with ICE teams in the Houston area.

WATCH:

NewsNation reported the team they embedded with brought four of five targets into custody before 11 a.m.

One arrest involved a man from El Salvador who had three prior DWI arrests, the most recent in 2024, and a final order of removal after missing a court date.

Agents conducted surveillance to establish his pattern of life and detained him before he entered a vehicle, which ICE described as a safer approach.

A second arrest, carried out with a county constable, targeted a man from Mexico with a 2013 charge of enticing a minor, a prior DWI, and driving-without-a-license cases. He also had a removal order after missing court.

Bret Bradford, director of ICE’s Houston Enforcement and Removal Operations field office, told NewsNation the agency prioritizes the “worst of the worst” but will not limit enforcement to those with criminal records.

“If you’re in this country illegally, there’s a consequence,” Bradford said. He added that current rhetoric has “emboldened these individuals to run, to flee, to evade arrest,” and he encouraged people eligible for voluntary departure to use the $3,000 cash incentive rather than wait for an arrest.

Houston’s ICE field office has posted large numbers in earlier operations as well.

In a 10-day sweep last October, agents reported 1,505 arrests, including gang members, aggravated felons, a convicted murderer, and sexual predators.

ICE has posted additional Houston operation footage on social media, including a traffic effort that resulted in more than 120 arrests on a single day.

“We made over 120 arrests in Houston Oct. 29 — clearing our roads of dangerous, often unlicensed and uninsured, illegal aliens who should NOT be behind the wheel,” the post read.

TRAGIC VIDEO: Man Jumps to His Death from Dallas Highway Bridge After Hours-Long SWAT Standoff — Police Unable to Save Him as Horrified Officers Look On

Police and SWAT officers respond to a tense, hours-long standoff on a Dallas County highway overpass before a man tragically jumped to his death.

A horrifying scene unfolded in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday when a man jumped from a highway overpass following an hours-long standoff with police and SWAT officers, bringing a massive law enforcement operation to a tragic end.

The incident occurred on October 22 near the Interstate 20 and Interstate 45 interchange in southern Dallas County, where police negotiators spent hours attempting to persuade the man to move away from the edge of the elevated roadway.

Despite their efforts, the encounter ended in tragedy. The man jumped from the bridge and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene, according to Dallas News.

Video circulating on social media appears to capture the disturbing final moments of the standoff, showing a man positioned along the edge of the overpass as officers and emergency vehicles remain nearby.

The footage has sparked emotional reactions online, with some commenters questioning whether authorities could have done more to prevent the tragedy, while others defended the officers who reportedly spent hours attempting to save the man’s life.

According to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth, police responded to the scene Thursday morning after receiving a report involving an individual on the overpass.

Officers arrived near the eastbound LBJ Freeway ramp and northbound Julius Schepps Freeway around 9:40 a.m.

Images captured by FOX 4’s SKY 4 helicopter showed law enforcement personnel attempting to communicate with the man, while SWAT vehicles and ambulances were stationed nearby.

Authorities shut down portions of both I-20 and I-45 as the emergency response unfolded, bringing traffic to a standstill along one of the region’s busiest transportation corridors.

According to NewsRadio 1080 KRLD, the individual was positioned near a silver-colored sedan on the bridge while officers attempted to establish communication.

The standoff continued for several hours as police worked to resolve the situation peacefully.

But the prolonged negotiations ended with the man’s death.

Dallas police subsequently confirmed that the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

DOJ Rushes to Block California From Counting 20,000 Ballots Tied to Suspected Noncitizens Before Votes Are Mixed Forever

The Justice Department is seeking an emergency order from the Ninth Circuit to stop California from counting mail-in ballots linked to more than 20,000 people federal investigators have flagged as likely noncitizens, warning that once the ballots are separated from their envelopes, the damage cannot be undone.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli and Attorney General Todd Blanche are leading the effort after a district court did not act on their earlier request to review the citizenship of individuals believed to be noncitizens.

The motion names California, Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, and Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean C. Logan as defendants and seeks a ruling by Saturday.

California and Weber oppose the request.

Federal officials say U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Homeland Security Investigations reviewed California voter registration data against federal immigration records and identified more than 20,000 registered voters who received mail ballots and are considered highly likely to be noncitizens.

Federal law, of course, bars noncitizens from voting in federal elections.

Essayli told Fox News that the 20,000 figure is the floor and that more names are expected.

Some individuals on the list have already been criminally charged for alleged illegal registration or voting as part of an effort labeled Operation Protect the Vote.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the dispute began earlier this month when the Justice Department delivered a password-protected thumb drive containing the list to Logan’s office and sent letters giving state and county officials 48 hours to review the names, confirm citizenship where possible, and segregate any ballots from those whose citizenship could not be verified.

Logan’s office said it had not opened the drive because doing so would conflict with established data privacy and information security protocols and that the device was not considered a secure medium.

Weber’s office said it had not provided the list to her directly and that earlier federal claims of roughly 190,000 potential noncitizens had never been backed by methodology or data.

After the deadline passed, the department sued in federal court in Los Angeles, asking a judge to bar the state from tabulating ballots until it could confirm citizenship.

In a statement, Blanche said, “State-facilitated voter fraud is unacceptable in the United States of America. If found responsible in a court of law, the State of California will have seriously undermined confidence in our electoral system and violated laws that protect our nation’s representative system of government.”

Essayli added, “We’re not asking California to take any drastic steps other than to sequester the ballots from the suspected noncitizens,” and said ballots have already been sent out and are being returned.

Los Angeles County has already processed more than 331,000 mail-in ballots.

Officials argue that once ballots are separated from their envelopes, it becomes practically impossible to identify and set aside individual ones without disrupting the entire count.

More than 7,000 of the flagged names have addresses in Los Angeles County.

The state began mailing ballots in early October.

Late last month, the Supreme Court allowed states to use the Department of Homeland Security’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system to check voter eligibility for now, after a lower court blocked the expanded version.

Trump signed an executive order directing the creation of a federal voter-registration list and new restrictions on mail voting.

“It is unlawful for noncitizens to vote in federal elections,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a press release earlier this month. “The Department of Homeland Security and our federal partners reviewed publicly available California voter-registration files and compared relevant records with federal immigration data to identify alien registrants. This preliminary analysis has identified a significant number of individuals in California who are likely noncitizens and appear to be registered to vote; the analysis and review remain ongoing. This is completely unacceptable — as even one noncitizen vote cancels out the ballot of an American citizen and undermines our elections. DHS is committed to identifying unlawful voting, protecting the integrity of federal elections, and ensuring that only eligible American citizens elect America’s leaders.”

Former Deep State FBI Agent Floris Arrested, But Not for Suppressing China’s Actions in the 2020 Election

Former Deep State FBI Agent Nikki Floris Arrested, but Not for Suppressing China’s Actions in the 2020 Election

A former Deep State actor in the FBI was indicted and arrested by the FBI for lying to Congress on Friday.

But Floris’s bigger crime was suppressing China’s actions in the 2020 Election.

This looked like a win for America, but then we see the charges don’t include the very serious charges of working with China to cover up the 2020 Election.  Americans demand more from the DOJ.

Military Boards Are Quietly Defying Hegseth’s Transgender Ban Orders by Voting to Keep Gender-Confused Troops in Uniform

Image: Wikimedia Commons (DOD photo by U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Madelyn Keech)

Navy and Marine Corps separation boards are repeatedly voting to keep transgender service members despite Pentagon rules that leave them almost no choice but to recommend discharge, according to a new report.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the policy in blunt terms during a September “State of the Force” address at Marine Corps Base Quantico.

“No fatties, no trannies, no beardos, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals,” Hegseth told the audience, describing the people he said had no place in the military under the Trump administration’s push for higher standards and the end of woke ideology.

The boards were created to process remaining cases after President Donald Trump’s executive order and Hegseth’s guidance barred service by those with “gender dysphoria” or related treatments.

Many of the roughly 4,200 openly transgender troops identified by the Pentagon accepted separation payments and left, but some stayed and demanded the peer-review process.

The boards, staffed by everyday uniformed personnel and given instructions that any evidence of transgender status requires dismissal regardless of performance, have not followed orders in most Navy and Marine cases.

The New York Times found these boards voted to retain the member in nine of 12 proceedings.

Outsiders, including spouses, are barred from the proceedings, and the Pentagon has not released official tallies.

The figures came from interviews with participants and lawyers.

New York Times military correspondent Dave Philipps described the process to CNN.

“So what’s interesting is these boards are set up sort of like jury duty to pull every day Marines and sailors and have them apply the rules, and kick trans service members out. And these rules are written so narrowly that they’re really left with no choice,” he said.

“If anyone has any sign of being transgender, even if they’re a decorated war hero or a really needed highly-trained technician, the juries have no leeway. If transgender, then you must throw them out. But that’s not what these boards are doing.”

Philipps continued, “All of a sudden, they are looking at these rules, realizing that they’re given no choice, and then they’ve been voting over and over — about three out of every four times — to keep these transgender soldiers and sailors and Marines in uniform, which is basically them quietly defying orders.”

“I think what the boards are doing is saying, ‘Look, we’re being presented with someone who is good at their job, has never broken any rules, and in some cases, is a highly-valued member of the military. And we’re being told to throw them out,’ and they’re just saying, ‘No.’ In fact, in some cases, in the Marine Corps, I saw paperwork where they actually scratched out the instructions on their paperwork that said, ‘You must discharge this person.’ And instead they just voted to keep them.”

Those votes are only recommendations. Branch secretaries appointed by the administration review them and can reverse the outcome.

Philipps noted the pattern is not uniform.

The Army, the first service to begin hearings, initially discharged nearly everyone, around 95 percent or higher, though more retention recommendations have appeared later.

Air Force boards have “overwhelmingly” voted for separation in the known cases reviewed so far.

One retained Marine, Staff Sgt. Damien Contreras, a supply and logistics specialist with three overseas deployments and a decade of service, told the Times that board members were simply “war fighters looking at war fighters.”

“I was shocked at first, but when you come down to it, it makes sense,” Sergeant Contreras told the NYT. “You have war fighters looking at war fighters,” he said. “They see I’ve always done my job, I’ve deployed, I’ve mentored other Marines, followed the rules. They say, ‘Hey, this is a good Marine, why wouldn’t we retain him?’”

The administration has already limited the boards’ independence. An October 2025 Pentagon memo obtained by the Associated Press allows commanders to override a board’s recommendation to retain a transgender member, breaking with longstanding practice that boards act independently.

Service members appearing before boards have also been required to meet uniform and grooming standards corresponding to their sex assigned at birth, and refusal can be held against them.

About a quarter of the identified transgender troops took voluntary separation payments rather than face the process.

Legal challenges to the transgender troop ban continue, but the Supreme Court has allowed it to remain in effect while litigation proceeds.

Democrats are clawing for their political future, and another Republican victory could leave Trump’s opponents with few opportunities to stop the coming Golden Age. After years of election theft and cheating, one question remains: Can Americans trust that this election will be fair?

And if Democrats do regain control, how far will they go to dismantle everything Trump has accomplished? Investigations, political retaliation, higher taxes, and sweeping economic changes could turn Washington into a battlefield, with ordinary Americans paying the price. Ilhan Omar, Mamdani and AOC spearhead a fight for the soul of our country that will echo for the next 100 years.

For Americans approaching retirement, the question is brutal: would the savings you spent a lifetime building survive another 1929?

Bill Armour, co-founder of Grace Precious Metals, addresses that question in his FREE Election Protection Gold Guide. He also examines a problem many gold buyers overlook: how much of their money actually bought precious metal, and how much went toward expensive collectible premiums.

  • Four gold-industry sales practices that buyers need to recognize.

  • What to check before buying precious metals, and how to get a free portfolio review if you already own gold or silver.

Trump’s warning about 1929 should get everyone’s attention. The Dow lost nearly 89% during the Great Depression and took approximately 25 years to recover its previous peak. The Nasdaq lost nearly 78% after the dot-com bubble burst, and the S&P 500 fell approximately 57% during the 2008 financial crisis.

Americans who waited until those crises were obvious often discovered the damage had already been done. And if you’re approaching retirement, you may not have decades to recover.

That’s why so many Americans are turning to physical gold and silver. They understand the dangers of inflation, government debt, and an unstable financial system. But there’s something the gold industry isn’t telling them.

You May Have Bought Gold. But How Much Gold Did You Actually Get?

For years, certain precious-metals dealers have pushed customers toward “rare,” “exclusive,” and “limited-edition” collectible coins instead of ordinary gold and silver bullion.

Here’s the problem: A substantial portion of what you pay for those coins may be collectible value, not actual precious metal.

Imagine two Americans each spending $100,000 on gold. One purchases ordinary bullion and receives 20 ounces. The other is convinced to buy collectible coins and receives only 12 ounces because so much of the purchase price goes toward supposed rarity.

Same $100,000. But one owns 40% less gold.

If gold doubles, the first investor’s metal is worth $200,000. The second investor’s metal is worth just $120,000, plus whatever collectible value a buyer is willing to recognize.

These people weren’t trying to become coin collectors. They were trying to protect their retirement. Instead, they may have ended up with far fewer ounces than they could have owned.

A Pastor Turned Gold Industry Insider Is Exposing the Problem.

Bill Armour spent years in the precious-metals industry before walking away from a business model that too often rewarded selling expensive collectible coins instead of straightforward bullion.

A 10-year Army Veteran with a background in Christian pastoral ministry, Armour helped establish Grace Precious Metals around a simple principle: When Americans want gold and silver, sell them gold and silver.

No rare-coin pitches. No collectible products. Just physical bullion with transparent pricing.

Grace publishes its spread, employs salaried advisors rather than commission-driven salespeople, and offers buybacks at no additional buyback commission. The company’s philosophy comes from Proverbs 11:1: “A false balance is an abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.”

Because protecting your wealth with precious metals should be about how many ounces you own, not how convincing a salesman’s story sounds.

Before November 3, Get the Guide.

Bill created a FREE Election Protection Gold Guide that examines the economic risks surrounding the midterms, the lessons of the crashes of 1929, 2000, and 2008, and the costly mistakes Americans make when buying gold and silver.

It explains the difference between bullion and collectibles, the five numbers every precious-metals owner should know, and how to find out whether you’re getting the actual gold and silver you paid for.

You can’t control what happens on November 3. But you can find out whether the gold you own is really protecting you the way you intended.

AOC’s ‘Tax the Rich’ Campaign Spent About $47K on 45 Luxury Hotel Stays

AOC at the Met Gala

Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s re-election campaign has spent roughly $47,000 on 45 hotel stays nationwide since April, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

The spending, reviewed by the New York Post, includes multiple charges at properties rated luxury, upscale, or upper-upscale while the far-left congresswoman continues to attack wealth and “the oligarchy.”

The largest bill was $5,044 at The Memphian, a boutique hotel in Memphis that features spa services and an animal-themed rooftop bar.

The campaign also paid $2,694 and $1,599 at The Candler Hotel in Atlanta, a four-star historic property with an acclaimed restaurant, and $2,274 at The Talbott in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Rooms at these hotels typically run from roughly $130 to $600 per night depending on the property and date.

Additional charges include $530.46 at the Thompson Central Park hotel in Manhattan, where rooms can reach $1,852 a night, and $318 at the Hyatt Seville NoMad.

The campaign also splurged for luxury transportation, including more than $1,400 to the chauffeur service BlackLane and hundreds more to other car services.

Despite her “Eat the Rich” persona, Ocasio-Cortez clearly enjoys the perks of wealth.

In 2025, AOC’s campaign spent approximately $53,500 on luxury and boutique hotels, including thousands at properties in Puerto Rico around the time she attended a Bad Bunny concert and posted about gentrification on the island.

Earlier filings tied to her “Fight Oligarchy” tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders showed thousands more spent at high-end hotels in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Tucson.

The latest hotel spending comes as Ocasio-Cortez travels the country stumping for other Democrat candidates ahead of the midterms and as speculation continues about a possible 2028 presidential or Senate run.

Anthony Constantino, the GOP candidate in New York’s 21st District, told The Post, “All Democrats want to do is take donor money and buy nice things for themselves. AOC is a con artist.”

GOP state comptroller candidate Joseph Hernandez, whose family fled Communist Cuba, told the paper, “She’s a champagne communist.”

“I grew up in an actual communist country, where the people in charge lived like kings while everyone else waited in line for bread,” Hernandez said. “Donor or taxpayer money, they spend it like it’s their own.”
