In a loss for the Biden regime and big win for 2nd Amendment right advocates, the Supreme Court on Friday crushed a federal ban on bump stocks.

The Court ruled in the case of Garland vs. Cargill that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) exceeded its constitutional authority in creating the regulation. The vote was 6-3, with the six conservatives joining the majority and the three leftists in dissent.

To add insult to injury for liberals, the opinion was offered by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. He said that accessory does not mean that a firearm equipped with it meets the “machine gun” definition under federal law.

“This case asks whether a bump stock — an accessory for a semiautomatic rifle that allows the shooter to rapidly reengage the trigger (and therefore achieve a high rate of fire) — converts the rifle into a ‘machinegun.’ We hold that it does not,” the great Thomas wrote.

Justice Sonia “Wise Latina” Sotomayor was quite displeased and authored an angry dissent.

“When I see a bird that walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck,” she whined. NBC News reports that Sotomayor was so triggered that she took the rare step of reading a summary of her dissent in court.

But if you thought Sotomayor was mad, the reaction from liberals on Twitter made her response look tame.

As Gateway Pundit readers may know, bump stocks are gun stocks that are generally used to assist in bump firing. The “bump stock” replaces a rifle’s standard stock, which is the part held against the shooter’s shoulder. This frees the weapon to slide back and forth quickly.

The federal government felt compelled to act to outlaw the procedure following the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting.

NBC News notes the lawsuit was brought by Texas-based gun owner Michael Cargill. He is a licensed dealer who owned two bump stocks before the ban went into effect in December 2018 and later surrendered them to the government.

Biden’s Department of Injustice took up the case after Joe Biden assumed power in 2021 as part of their effort to crush the constitutional right of law-abiding Americans.

Joe Biden is the “worst he’s ever been” according to G7 insiders amid the viral video of Biden wandering off during a skydiving demonstration in Italy.

A G7 diplomatic source told The Sun’s editor Harry Cole that Joe Biden is the “worst he’s ever been” and that he has been “losing focus” in the world leader sessions in Italy.

Biden has been in Italy this week for the G7 Summit.

The G7 leaders viewed a skydiving demonstration after a series of working sessions on Thursday.

Biden got distracted during the skydiving demonstration and wandered away.

Things got so bad that Italy’s Prime Minister Meloni had to retrieve Joe Biden.

The entire group of G7 leaders looked over at Biden as he wandered away like a lost dog.

Biden slurred his way through working sessions.

Magnanimity isn’t always the first trait that comes to mind when thinking of former President Donald Trump. Yet, in his own particular way, that is what Trump displayed during his Thursday visit to Capitol Hill—his first since leaving the presidency in January 2021.

Trump met separately with both House and Senate Republicans on Thursday. While there is no transcript or recording of the former president’s remarks in the closed-door meetings, an ample amount of information made Thursday headlines. In both sessions, Trump stressed the need for unity among Republicans as the party gears up for the 2024 election. The former president sought to mend fences with some, namely Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and strengthen the foundations of fledgling partnerships, especially House Speaker Mike Johnson.

“There’s tremendous unity in the Republican Party,” Trump said in a brief statement to members of the media. “We want to see borders. We want to see strong military. We want to see money not wasted all over the world. We don’t want to see Russian ships right off the coast of Florida which is what they are right now. That’s unthinkable. We want to see just success for our country and we don’t have success right now.”

Even without the cameras in the room, Trump was reportedly true to form, delivering a winding exhortation that alternated between stories and second-term agenda items. He fulminated about the left’s effort to imprison him and allegedly called Biden’s Department of Justice “dirty, no-good bastards.” He told House Republicans that Ukraine is “never going to be there for us,” according to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who described the meeting with Trump as a bit of a pep rally. Trump floated replacing all income taxes with tariffs, claimed that one of Nancy Pelosi’s daughters once told him that he and Pelosi would have been a perfect couple, and bantered about Taylor Swift’s support for the current president.

At one point, Trump broke into his Biden impression, mocking his rival’s personal inadequacies that Trump suggests are mirrored in the current president’s administration. He admonished the disasters of the Biden economy and extolled his own.

The meeting did include some more serious discussions. Trump told House Republicans that his campaign message is bringing more states into play come November, such as New Mexico, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Virginia. The former president also boasted of his “no tax on tips” plan that, off the heels of a major rally in Las Vegas, aims to flip the Silver state from blue to red. 

Trump also took a more serious tone when discussing the issue of abortion. Trump warned House Republicans that overplaying the GOP’s hand risks the party’s current advantage heading into 2024. At the same time, he encouraged Republicans to not run from the issue because Democrats are proving themselves to be abortion extremists in the post-Dobbs era, according to CNN. Members, Trump suggested, should follow their convictions, but do so intelligently.

Amid the quips and the policy discussion, Trump’s meeting with the House GOP was a bit of a search for kumbaya—the representatives sang “Happy Birthday” for Trump, whose birthday is June 14. 

Much of the same can be said for Trump’s meeting with Republicans from the upper legislative chamber. Sen. John Barasso (R-WY), currently running unopposed to be the next Senate GOP Whip, played host and brought out a birthday cake. The candles originally read 45, but Barasso playfully changed out the 5 for a 7.

As the election gets closer, Trump has tried to stabilize the House GOP when others have wanted to rock the boat. He provided the cover that the speaker of the House needed when conservatives were breathing down the speaker’s neck after a series of legislative choices that were unpopular with the right wing of the party. Trump made light of the affair Thursday, asking Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who attempted to vacate Johnson, whether she was being nice to the speaker and encouraging the pair to get along.

Johnson was appreciative of the former president, and justly so. “President Trump brought an extraordinary amount of energy, and excitement and enthusiasm this morning,” the speaker said after the meeting.

The biggest snafu for the former president, however, is that he reportedly told House members that Milwaukee, WI, where the GOP convention will be held in mid-July, is a “horrible” city. When word got out that Trump had insulted the biggest city in one of the most important swing states, Republicans from all over the nation gave vastly different answers attempting to contextualize the president’s remarks. Some said Trump was talking about the crime rate, others said it was regarding election integrity. Some flatly denied it happened at all.

Trump made a particular effort to repair his relationship with McConnell during his Thursday trip to the Capitol. Trump reportedly told GOP senators that Republicans underperformed in 2022 not because of Mitch, not because of me,” but because of abortion (although this is not a matter of settled history).

Yet, it is undeniable that McConnell, despite being a lame duck as senate GOP leader, is again set to have a massive impact on the outcome of senate elections. Republicans are looking at a very advantageous map. McConnell still holds the purse strings for senate campaign funds and has a large say over how the GOP conference goes about its business. If Trump wants to get anything other than executive orders out the door, he needs McConnell—and he knows it. Which is why Trump was congenial to his erstwhile detractors Thursday—so much so that one GOP senator told Andrew Desiderio of Punchbowl News, “I was like, who’s this guy and what did he do with Donald Trump?”

McConnell, who hadn’t met with Trump since the 2020 election, seems to have taken the olive branch. “I can’t think of anything to tell you out of it that was negative,” McConnell said of the meeting.

Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who is running to replace McConnell as leader, said Trump’s remarks to the senior legislators was “very reserved” in “tone and substance.”

Members of the Senate who have been known to buck McConnell from time to time were also pleased with Trump’s remarks. “[Trump] was extremely gracious by the way. There was no score-settling,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) told CNN.

“He is the choice of our voters overwhelmingly. It shows that he is absolutely the leader of the party,” Hawley added. “I mean, you had people who have vociferously opposed him, who were sitting right next to him in the room.” McConnell and Thune reportedly flanked Trump’s right and left.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said Trump was “getting the team back together.” Rubio said he felt optimistic after the meeting, “but a lot of work to be done,” according to CNN.

“President Trump was in very good spirits, focused on winning back the White House,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) claimed.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) said Trump’s message was one of “unification, leadership,” which the Alabama senator added is “few and far between up here.”

Trump ran in 2016 on not being a politician. It helped Trump win, but hurt him when he was in power—his enemies could out maneuver him. Eight years later, he’s still running as an outsider, but a politician—a former president—nonetheless. And that might help him win, and govern, this time.

Despite the fact that summer, and the heat associated with that season, comes around reliably every year, the climate activists behave as if such a thing has never happened before.

Ever since “global warming” and “climate change” (formerly known as “weather”) became the environmental bogeymen, any slight increase in temperature over the summer has been spun as the first sign of the climate apocalypse.

And, this summer’s impending heat wave is no different.

According to The Washington Post, the U.S. will be assaulted by abnormally high temperatures thanks to a “heat dome” forming over the mainland United States.

Apparently, temperatures in most of the continental U.S., especially in the Southeast and the Midwest, are projected to reach the high 90’s and potentially stay that hot at least through June.

The National Weather Service likewise predicted that, with the humidity, the overall heat index for states from Texas to Washington, D.C., could reach as high as 100 to 110 degrees.

Indeed, the HeatRisk level, a scale that measures the danger presented by extreme heat from 0 to 4, is projected to hover around a 3 to 4 for large areas of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Georgia

Smithsonian Magazine explained that the “heat dome” over the Southwest was caused by a high pressure system in the atmosphere getting trapped in the same place above Montana, rather than getting pushed from east to west by the jet stream.

Now, while Smithsonian clarified that heat domes were by no means a new phenomena, they have of course had to ask whether the allegedly human-caused “climate change” had anything to do with this one.

Earth scientist and co-author of a recent study on this question, Michael Mann, said that climate change “is actually favoring the jet stream behavior that produces these stagnant high-pressure systems and the extreme heat and drought associated with them.”

Perhaps, but some weather history might indicate that this is simply a normal part of weather fluctuations in the U.S.

The Weather Channel noted that one of the hottest U.S. summers on record was in 1936, with some places achieving record highs that still have not been surpassed.

Likewise, temperature records in general have only been kept since 1895.

The U.S. has been plagued by intense heat waves and intense cold snaps several times over the course of its history, yet, nowadays, any extreme weather has become a handy excuse for drumming up climate hysteria.

As the rest of the country takes common sense precautions for the impending heat wave, expect the alarmists to use “new” buzzwords like the aforementioned “heat dome” to drum up some support for their policies and worldview.

Because it was never about protecting people from the fallout of “climate change” — no, climate change has always been a useful excuse for shoving left-wing and Neo-Communist restrictions down everyone’s throat.

Instead of fretting about something that happens reliably pretty much every year, use your common sense and enjoy the summer.

After all, that’s a much healthier way to handle a heat wave than preparing for an apocalypse that will probably never come.

Pope Francis attended the G7 Summit in Italy this year. He is the first pontiff to address G7 leaders.

“The holy scriptures say that God gave to human beings his spirit in order for them to have wisdom, intelligence and knowledge in all kinds of tasks,” the pope said. “Science and technology are therefore extraordinary products of the potential which is active in us human beings.”

Joe Biden had an awkward encounter with the Pope on Friday.

The wheelchair-bound Pope extended his hand to say hello to Joe Biden and that is when he went for an awkward forehead-to-forehead greeting.

They believe it is their right to silence Alex Jones. They already won a judgment of $1 billion for a broadcast he made following the shooting.

On Friday morning Alex Jones posted a video from his car. He is traveling to Houston this morning for a court hearing. The Sandy Hook families are attempting to take away his social media accounts.

But they can’t preclude me from having my own real Alex Jones. So I hope Judge Lopes is not ignorant on these facts. Whatever happens, it happens. But it’s real Alex Jones is my handle. It’s mine. I’ve had it for about 15 years or something, and it’s just totally ridiculous. But I got news for folks. They’re not just coming after me. They’re coming after everybody. As people gathered in Detroit last night for a BLEXIT event, at least one “white savior” tried to warn a Black couple to “be careful” with all the “White MAGA folks” in town carrying American flags.

Irony alert….the couple was headed to that very event.

Social media influencer @locdinwithzaza_ shared her experience as she was walking to the event with her husband.

locdinwithzaza begins, “So me at Darrell were walking to the BLEXIT event right? We’re walking across the street and this White woman comes up behind us and firstly she asks us, ‘Oh, is it always crowded down here?’ Cause we are in Detroit…never been to Detroit before.”

“But the first red flag was her assuming that we’re from here. I’m assuming because, you know,  we’re ‘Negroes.’”

“Then, she proceeds to tell us, ‘Oh, you guys know Trump is here, you better watch out. I’ve seen a lot of White MAGAs walking around with the American flag. You know…you guys….be careful guys!’”

Republicans Overseas brought in an impressive $3 million haul for the Trump campaign during a fundraiser in London, United Kingdom.

The event, which was held at the home of actress Holly Vallance, was hosted by Republicans Overseas and was attended by the likes of Donald Trump Jr., Ric Grenell and Brexit leader Nigel Farage.

According to the Telegraph, the event brought in around $3 million and was galvanized by Trump’s recent conviction in the sham New York hush money trial.

Red balloons were released over the lake of Valance’s home, which was adorned in Republican colors for the event, while a bagpiper even played “Scotland the Brave” to honor Trump’s Scottish heritage.

“I think this function was much more successful post-verdict than it would have been pre-verdict,” Greg Swenson of Republican Overseas UK told the newspaper.

“The people that would write a $100 cheque are going to write $1,000, and the people writing a $10,000 cheque are going to write $25,000,” he continued. “It’s amazing how much bigger the tickets became after the verdict. So our timing was fortunate.”

“Bankers and hedge fund and private equity people and entrepreneurs… because it’s an economic centre you tend to get people that are willing to write cheques.”

Grenell took to the X platform to acknowledge the success of the event, claiming that Don Jr. and his partner Kimberly Guilfoyle “brought the British house down.”
